Cher Decades ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 26 September 2022 7 Comments

Cher will launch Decades, a new quartet of fragrances for women, later this month.*

The ’60s is a mix of Chypre Flora with notes of bergamot, rose damascena, and patchouli, representing the nostalgia, peace, and love era;

The ’70s is an amber, woody incense scent with cardamom, saffron, and musks, representing disco bling and Utopian times;

The ’80s is a floral and fruity scent with notes of mandarin, honeysuckle, and tonka bean, representing goth punk;

The ‘90s is a floral scent and notes of peach nectar, heliotrope, and sandalwood, representing grunge and pop escapism.

Cher Decades will be available in 30 ml Eau de Parfum; a travel coffret in 8 ml can be found at Scent Beauty.

*Note that the official launch is October 22, but these have been around in various formats since late 2021 and they will be sold on HSN later this week.

    Interesting notes for “goth punk”…

      Yeah, it’s hard to see how mandarin and honeysuckle reflect the goth sensibility, and likewise peach nectar and heliotrope representing grunge. I guess they had to say *something* to sell it.

      Yes, my goth punk years smelled like clove cigarettes mostly. 🙂

    Not that I expected them to but it would’ve been nice if they had resurrected her original fragrance, Uninhibited, because that was fantastic: the top note was (like Demeter Gingerale) carbonated, and after that it was a big plush vanilla oriental. It famously didn’t sell well, and I couldn’t say why, because it wasn’t completely out of line with other things launched the same year: Loulou was a huge success and lots of other big shoulder-pad scents like Bijan, Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion, and Rochas Byzance flew off the shelves. (They’re all still in production today.) Uninhibited would probably be a big hit today, but maybe not: popular taste is a mystery.

    Not in love with those bottles. They don’t really say Cher to me.

      All I can think of is that the people who were buying celeb fragrances then, and were of an age to be Cher fans, did nod love big plush vanilla orientals? But that of course is just a guess.

      Cher said a few years ago they lost the formula to Uninhibited:(
