Reminder: on 6/24 we'll celebrate Midsummer 2022. (The solstice is on the 21st, but traditional Midsummer, in some countries, anyway, will be celebrated on the 24th.) Wear what you'd wear to dance around a Maypole or light a bonfire on the beach, or whatever you think fits.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

First day of summer! It’s been so cool and grey and today is no exception, but I’m all summery anyway in vintage Eau de Courrèges EDC, a vivid burst of citrus and greenery overlying a soft woody chypre that stays very close to the skin. It tricks you into thinking it’s a really nice cologne before it reveals itself to be gorgeous and complex and sophisticated.
Which reminds me! I was watching a movie the other night, 1958’s Les Amants by Louis Malle, and there are glimpses of Jeanne Moreau’s vanity, on which is a huge bottle that any of you would instantly recognize as Chanel — the shape, the cap, the label — but you can’t quite read which one it is. (I invariably study the vanities and bathrooms in movies to see what the set dressers thought the characters would be wearing, or least what looked good on film.) Later on, on a hot day, she’s tipping palmfuls from the bottle and applying it lavishly to her neck and forehead to cool down, and you see that it’s Chanel Eau de Cologne, certainly an 8-ounce bottle, maybe even bigger. Don’t you sort of love the idea of just going to town on a big old bottle of cologne, and having that be a normal thing? (I’d prefer air conditioning, mind you.)

First day of summer and my birthday. I took today and tomorrow off for my daughter’s birthday. I didn’t sleep well and woke up grumpy. Feeling better now after being outside and seeing the gorgeous blue sky.
I have a ton of housework to do because I have an at home meeting later today. I saw on the news that Sam’s Club is offering 8 dollar membership fees for new members so I went for it.

Wearing OJ Frangipani today. It’s warm and humid, so a perfect scent to wear. I went through a number of travel sprays of this and only have one left I think. So, I hoard.
Gorgeous day yesterday, so we stopped by some local markets. I needed more cherry vinaigrette dressing, which is nicely sweet and tart and very low in calories. So basically perfect. And I bought some of strawberry lemonade concentrate to keep on hand. It’s in a big jug and you just mix with water…still or sparkling.
Had an early dinner back at the ice cream parlor/diner. This time it was a BLT and a cherry phosphate.
Today is work. Oh well…

Haven’t been here for a while, but may have subconsciously remembered lillyjo’s birthday? Who knows?
I’ve done a whole lot of adulting the past two months. My own mother suddenly became very frail (three people she knew died in the span of a month – one of them my MIL), so we decided to move her from a regular townhouse to a condo in a retirement village. In the end it all came down to me, except my nephew helped move the furniture, and this coming weekend will be the first weekend since the beginning of May that I won’t be either working or clearing out my mom’s old place. I think I should wear Jubilation 25 the whole week!

Looking forward to an extra minute of sun today. Yesterday was one of those perfect, still winter days when the harbour is like glass, and the sky is blue, and the hills are white with frost. All the seagulls were standing in the sunny corner of the playing fields, enjoying the sun as I drove past.
Managed to slip on the ice while carrying out the washing… a kind of cartoon, slow-motion as the clothing went up in the air and then landed on top of me. The dogs jumped on top to give my face a lick, never mind the dirty paws on the freshly washed clothing. What a charmed life. Wearing By the Fireplace as it’s even colder today. Happy New Year!

Remember the guy wearing his shoe on top of his head? He was seated on a bench in front of Macys Herald Square. Well, someone tipped him, no pun intended. This morning I saw a guy balancing a whole coconut on his head while walking and whistling a nursery tune (couldn’t figure out which one). Even if he cut off the bottom to make it more sturdy, it’s still a feat!
Also, remember when there were limits (2-4 tops) and specific spots where one must stand inside an elevator or risk being contaminated with COVID-19? What happened to that science? I left the office a little late for lunch today and the first elevator that came was literally full of people…like maybe 10? I suppose I could have gotten on and held my breath but I wasn’t about to chance it even though it would only be for < 1 minute.
