It's Tuesday and National Chocolate Ice Cream Day (I celebrated last night). Birthdays: Beau Brummell, Elizabeth Bowen, Gwendolyn Brooks, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, Liam Neeson, Louise Erdrich, Prince. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm taking more community project points with Imaginary Authors O, Unknown!, and to match my fragrance I'm drinking a cup of smoky Earl Grey with a dash of lavender. (Recipe: Numi Aged Earl Grey + pinch of Harney French Super Blue Lavender + pinch of Upton Lapsang Souchong Imperial)
Reminder: on 6/10, for National Iced Tea Day, wear a fragrance with a tea note (a repeat of the Tea Time Friday in 2015, by request from AnnE).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Jonathan Hansen x Marie Daâge Ciels Bleus Teapot("Revered porcelain painter Marie Daâge and her select team of artisans harness their exceptional skills and techniques to bring Jonathan Hansen’s Ciels Bleus vision to life") is $763 at Harrods; the breakfast cup is $632.
Well I thought the china I dream of was pricey, but the one in the picture is even more so. I am wearing FM Dans tes Bras today. It is a go to for when I want to feel a bit more together than I really am. Parent conferences today.
It’s true, even the teacup is way out of my reach!
Good luck with the parent conferences.
I did a double-take when I read the teacup price. But so pretty.
Pricey but soooo pretty.
I haven’t made my tea yet.
I really wanted to wear Shalimar today but the original is too much for me , so I found a decant of the “light” version that a generous NSTer.
It wears like an AA. Also in Guerlain skincare. Having a Guerlain day. Maybe I will do vanilla tea and make it a Shalimar day all around
yay for a Guerlain day! You smell so great.
Thank you. I shouldn’t say that Shalimar isn’t too much for me, but today, I want a sheer scent. Normally I can handle the queen! I am just feeling differently
You inspired me to put on Shalimar Eau Legere, and it does work on a warm day.
I’m wearing Lankaran Forest by MCG. Opened my first (small) bottle. I’ve had decants, but this is fbw for sure.
I love that one!!! You smell so great.
I love that one too, need to dig it out.
When I got home yesterday, I combined Clair de Musc with Narciso Rodriguez white cube and it smelled so good that I’m tempted to repeat it. But there’s so much great perfume in my cabinet, so I’m changing to Yesterday Haze. House twins, Robin!
One of my top 3 Imaginary Authors. You smell great!
Yesterday Haze is a great scent 🙂
Wearing Officine del Profumo Lei (lightly dabbed).
We are fine. Well, still no news on a potential work project, which is not good news, but let’s focus on something positive.
We went to a garden show in Malmo public garden – lots of intresting instalaltions. It was nice, but there were a lot of people.
I have also completed my first coding course (Basics) and started the next one. If you are curious, have a look at my first project – https://www.shecodes.io/workshops/shecodes-basics-2ad76f6c-e6f8-48c6-9ce6-2bc892fc5e05/projects/912497
It is a simple landing page inspired by my recent visits to the gardens of Copenhagen and Malmo. If you click on the button on the page, you will be asked for an email addres, but do not worry. The address is not saved anywhere, and you do not have to give it.
Your landing page is lovely! That second photo is exactly how I imagine Pemberley — the lake and woods with the brick manor in the distance.
And Colin Firth is about to emerge from the lake. 🤣😂
Jokes aside, I also thought of Pemberly when I was looking through some of the Copenhagen pictures, including the one you mentioned.
Yes! That scene is my absolute favorite! How could Elizabeth NOT fall in love?!
And thanks for comlimenting it! 😳
Wonderful!
I love it, especially the ombré green background. Perfect backdrop for the photos. I have no clue what coding even is! If it’s not “drag and drop” I’m lost. Give my best to Kora and mom! 🙂
So glad you are well Glannys, and hope the work comes soon!
Beautiful! Fingers crossed for the work to come through!
That’s great stuff! Congratulations on finishing your first course, and good luck with the next!
Sending you and your loved ones very best wishes.
Just beautiful! Congratulations with the first course, Glannys. Wishing you continued success.
As always, thank you for your support, friends.
Nice!
Congrats on passing that first coding course!
Sigh, going back to work today. Spent time yesterday on the phone straightening out a problem with a new credit card arriving. It just never came in spite of 2 phone calls over a week. Getting a card expedited to me. I said that there should have been no reason to why it hasn’t arrived. Wearing no 5 edt today. Tempted to get a travel spray of no 5 edt.
You smell great. And grrrr so frustrating.
Well, I’m inching my way toward tea. Wearing SMN Eva, which has bergamot and lemon — two out of three ingredients for a nice cup of Earl Grey. The black pepper is, however, not on point at all.
I am doing a earl grey/vanilla tea to compliment my Shalimar. I am mostly smelling bergamot and lemon from this light version. I think we are twins :0)
🤣
Today I’m luxuriating in Cartier La Baiser du Dragon, another one of those wildly misnamed scents (and mispackaged, too, with that faux Chinoiserie): there’s nothing fiery or dragonish about it at all, because it’s warm sweet amaretto and patchouli with gardenia and a hint of bitter almond.
You smell wonderful!
Nahema in the new version for a cloudy, post-thunderstorm day. More rain may be on the way. I’ve never tried the vintage, but I also have a 2017 bee bottle and they seem very similar. I think the 2021 version falls short of being a love because there is too much fruit and not enough sandalwood; at least that’s my impression today – that the bee bottle may have more woodiness.
It looks like we are pre-thunderstorm at the moment.
NOTHING with sandalwood is the same these days, IMHO. It almost seems like a bonus to have never smelled old-school sandalwood so you don’t know what you’re missing.
ITA about sandalwood, Robin. It’s heartbreaking.
Cap Neroli for the win today. I do enjoy this one so much. It’s hitting the spot today.
My husband’s grandma passed so we were in WV for a while to help his mom with arrangements and the house and other things. My husband gave me her No. 5 perfume. She had some other stuff, mainly Avon, that I wasn’t too interested in, but the No. 5 edt was maybe 3/4 full so I have that now. I have the No. 5 lotion from my aunt that passed, and now the No. 5 edt from his grandma. I will always think of them when I pair them together.
No 5 is beloved by many…
No 5 is fabulous and I think the edt is my favorite version.
What a nice way to remember them.☺️ Condolences to you and your husband.
So sorry for your loss.
My sympathies to your and your husband.
Wearing Berdoues Assam of India.
Another beautiful warm, breezy, sunny, spring day! I am leaving early from work today to meet my nephew and his girlfriend for early dinner tonight. Her birthday was on Sunday, but I didn’t attend her family dinner celebration. These days, I prefer a more relaxing environment with less people around. They both loved the idea of spending a nice and cheerful time together today. Looking forward to have chocolate ice cream for dessert! 😉
Happy Tuesday! 🍨
You smell great and enjoy your dinner!
Thank you, KellyC!
Yay for another nice day, and a great dinner meet up after work!
The weather here wasn’t nearly as nice as yesterday. Clouds rolled in early this afternoon, along with a bit of light rain.
Thank you! We had a very lovely time!
It has been very windy the whole day. It is drizzling now, but it is supposed to stop before midnight. We are expecting another gorgeous day tomorrow. 🌞
Commando on the beach this morning. Alas, the calmer waters we had hoped for have not materialized, but it’s pleasant to sit and chat and catch up on NST while we watch the beach patrol do some heavy-surf rescue drills. (They are definitely drills.) I am drinking an oat-milk latte — if I have tea today, it will be Barry’s plain, from a teabag, this afternoon.
Sorry you did not get calm waters, but sitting on the beach is better than not sitting on the beach, right?
Lovely tea set, but $632 for a cup? Oh my. I’d be afraid to use it.
Tea scents… well, they’re in the basement. I plan to swap winter for summer scents today, really, I know I said that last weekend, but this time, I mean it, for real, yes really, today’s the day, this is it! Yeah.
What I’ve actually been doing in the basement is continuing the great house clean-out, which means my actual SOTD recently has been sweat, dust, and mouse unmentionables, bleah.
Seriously. My china almost never gets used and I would have to do some serious calculations, but I think you could buy almost the whole set for the price of the tea cup and teapot here 🙂
Yes, for sure, my entire set of semi-good Mikasa china cost less than that teapot when it was bought 30 years ago. And we still use it every day.
Sorry, but I laughed at “mouse unmentionables”.
I’m in Purple Rain from the splitmeet. This is so lovely!
Nice!
This tea set is so pretty!
Sotd is BR540 extrait.
I will definitely be celebrating chocolate ice cream day. Maybe after both lunch and dinner.
I am guessing I will celebrate again tonight too 🙂
Today, at the gym a friend brought me a souvenir back from Paris. It is a small bottle of Fragonard Belle de Nuit. I can’t wait to shower in a little while, after a snack, and put some of this on. Such a nice surprise 🙂
I love that one!
How sweet is that!
Nice friend!
Iris Ganache for dropping off my mail in ballot. Definitely classic Guerlain vibes. Chocolate Ice Cream Day? Hagen I am thinking of you:). A quick note and homage to Alec John Such, bassist of Bon Jovi. A part of my childhood felt snatched away when I heard he passed. I was probably the biggest Bon Jovi fan in my little town back in the day. My best buddy and I had a contest who could cover a wall first with Bon Jovi posters…guess who won? LOL. Such a fun band..good times. And guilty pleasure..I still listen to their old albums every once and a while lol..specifically their 1st and 2nd albums. They just rock 🇺🇸.
And if I may..song of the day..not surprising:) A good tune from 85′
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b_2AkCX6QAA
I guess Alec was responsible for Jon and Richie meeting and essentially forming the band. So without Alec..no Bon Jovi. And a world without Bon Jovi would deprived lol.
I saw Bon Jovi twice in the 80’s. The first time they opened for Ratt. Lol. The second they headlined their Slippery when Wet tour. One of the best concerts ever. I still have my t-shirt. I think the tickets were around 13 dollars. Those were the days.
Oh lollp I wish I had gone with you haha. I had tix to BJ & Cinderella in 87 I think? But…I ended up not being able to go. After that, I guess I never got around to getting tickets. But I think I saw Jon and wife Dorthea up at Lake Tahoe a year or two later sunbathing and havin a good time as I was about to go on a Tahoe cruise..I didn’t go up to them as I didn’t wanna bother them lol. But me and my grade school friend were happy campers lol. Come to think of it..maybe it was part of their honeymoon? They got married in Vegas. Let me just interrupt your honeymoon for you to sign my Tiger Beat Magazine LOL.
Ratt!🤘I just heard them the other day on hair nation xm radio.
I wish I would have had enough cash for both a ticket and a T-shirt back in my concert-going days.
I loved Bon Jovi back in the day too. My bestie and I had a full length poster of Jon Bon Jovi on the inside of our dorm door back in ‘87. Lol. Good times.
Pretty sure we had the same poster lol
Thanks for posting that link! I am not familiar with that Bon Jovi song. I usually hear the same 3 or 4 ones.
Yeah I liked the older albums before Slippery. The eponymous album, Bon Jovi and 7800 F. Slippery also good but prefer the older work
Testing Armani’s Orangerie Venise. It is beautiful outside–wish I could just sit in the garden with the cat.
Hope you get to relax in the garden for a spell, at least
Me too. Staring at the same three paras on my computer screen for the last 90 minutes. May be time to turn the darn thing off.
Sort-of twins – I did a lot of random testing this evening after work and visited my local Armani counter. I chose this purely because of its name – it’s delightful!
Yay for Venice perfumes, whatever they be. I bet you smell amazing.
I don’t have a tea scented frag so I’m wearing TF Lost Cherry and drinking a chai. A friend texted me about Chocolate Ice Cream Day so later we’re going to a local shop called Milkjam here in Minneapolis and having their flavor called Black. It’s the darkest deepest richest chocolate IC I’ve ever had! All their flavors are wonderful, but today I’ll get Black.
Gosh I wish I could join you! That sounds wonderful.
Also, just the name “Milkjam” is perfect.
Yum, that sounds delicious! Ice cream in the twin cities makes me think of Grand Ole Creamery. I just googled and looks like it’s still there!😀
Usually not a fan of chocolate ice cream, but the one you describe sounds like something I would make an exception for. 😉
All I have on hand is some fake vegan chocolate ice cream, will rectify that soon. Took the dog to the vet for a nail trim and my little drama queen wailed and howled like she was being horribly murdered. Such an embarrassment. The vet tech was kind and told me she wasn’t the worst client.
Wearing Lancôme Iris Dragées.
Mine is not a fan of nail clipping either. I get a lot of side eye during, but after she gets belly rubs and a treat and decides to forgive me, lol.
You should try it with a cat!
My two cats were angels for nail trims, they just laid there and slept through it. My dogs have all been much worse.
Shalimar MVP today.
Thanks for all the supportive comments yesterday…much appreciated.♥️
Big hugs for you! I missed your posts so sending back-dated hugs, too
Missed your post but sending more hugs!
Minimal tea scents here. I had a travel size from SmellBent but must have decluttered it. I do have one other, but I’m saving it for Friday. I need to work on CP compliance 😬
Picked up “Embrace Fearlessly the Burning World” by one of my favorite authors, Barry Lopez. I’ve been reading him for years, first book was a bible of a tome called “Arctic Dreams” way back when I was young and fresh and wanted so badly to go to either pole. I can only read short bits at a time because it’s DEEEEEP, not a difficult read, but dense with ideas and beautiful language. This is a collection of essays, some previously published and some new, written before his death in 2020. Here’s a link to a NYT review for those interested:
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/31/books/review/barry-lopez-embrace-fearlessly-burning-world.html
SOTD is once again Shalimar MVP because I can’t get enough of this fluffy whipped and powdered confection. It’s not foody really. I use the adjectives more to describe the texture of the scent. I’d wear this more frequently if I had a BUB.
No hoarding! You smell great!
2 more days to go before inventory is officially over. I’m working until 11 tonight and have to be back at 6 am tomorrow. I’m wearing TF Fleur de Chine so I can at least smell like I have a rich boyfriend. 🌞
Lol you crack me up:).
Go get ‘em!
Wishing you strength for the inventory, you smell great in Fleur de chine, I was surprised to see it had tea.
You got this! I remember inventory. I also remember despising inventory. 😂 I hope you are least have the weekend off after this…!
You smell wonderful!
Lillyjo, thanks for your reassurances about my boiling perfume yesterday! 😋
I hope inventory goes by fast!
Wishing you good luck. Inventory is the worst! I feel your pain!
Yuck! In nursing we call that “doubling back.” At least you haven’t lost your sense of humor.😂 I bet you smell great.
You can do it!
Inventory always sucked when I did it. Pretty sure that hasn’t changed. Good luck getting thru it!
LOL! Hope the next two days go as well as possible. Tough schedule.
Twins with Robin today, and realizing I’m about to thunk the small bottle of O Unknown that I had. I hadn’t realized I’d used so much; I don’t wear it that often.
We’re having our one day of sun for the week, so I’m trying to get outside as much as I can today. (Yesterday was supposed to be sunny, but then wasn’t until 5 p.m.) Trying NOT to think about the fact that the plumber who was in yesterday managed to leak water down the inside of the drywall and our ceiling is now stained on two floors. They still haven’t told us what they’re going to do to fix it. (Sigh.) On the bright side, they did get the new kitchen faucet in and so I’m calling my reno officially done, after 13 months.
Oh no! So sorry about your stained ceilings. Hope they make it right!
Oh Geez! What an absolute pain about the plumber.
Oh no!! You can’t catch a break on those renos. We are having the same weather, my husband took the opportunity to mow the lawn.
A belated “hey twin”!
SO SO sorry about the water damage. Hope they make it right. But also congrats on finishing your renovations, that’s something!
The nights are really getting long now, sunrise is just before 8am. Slept till four and then went and looked at the stars but it’s overcast so no action there. Heard an owl though, over in the forest. Toast and Vegemite, strong coffee and a dash of Datura Noir, a perfume fit for moths ( apparently…datura, that is) and possibly dandies . It was interesting to read about Beau Brummell, sounds quite a life.
For moths, who knew.
There is an argument that he ruined men’s clothing as a form of personal expression in the way women still (sometimes) wear clothing, by doing away with the French-influenced “fripperies” and popularizing the dark suit and white shirts that men still pretty much wear today.
I wore Floris Zinnia from my small vintage bottle, lovely floral and a very Good drydown of sandalwood.
Tonight it’s Hermes Voyage in parfum concentration because DolceVita wore the edt (which I also have) yesterday. It’s my favorite cardamom scent and I always think it’s overshadowed by the more popular Terre.
I am so glad to see your comment, thank you!
Twins with and inspired by KellyC (thank you!) in Cap Neroli from a generous NSTer. It makes me very happy 🙂
Yay for very happy!
Not wearing a tea scents today, I’m in the mood for something more floral. I haven’t worn Caron’s Bellodgia for ages, and it suddenly seems like just the thing for today.
You smell fantastic Gaynor!
SotD has been JM Grapefruit and Assam from one of their cute 1oz bottles. It got quite warm this afternoon, and I had a lovely walk with an old friend I haven’t seen in too long.
Robin, that tea blend you created sounds delicious! Mine this morning was, again, my Empress dupe. I’m declaring that experiment a success.
The other option is to just buy Fortnum & Mason Smoky Earl Grey, but it’s hard to come by here and I like my blend quite well.
Do I dare ask what a pooshy is? Smh. Not interested in the wannabe edgy but juvenile marketing lol
Okay. I bit. Still not entirely sure what is a pooshy, but apparently Kourtney Kardashian’s smells like “black gardenia . . . with top notes of geranium, green pepper and Timur berry; heart notes of tiare, ylang-ylang absolute and honeysuckle and base notes hold vetiver and oakmoss.” So, when you go looking for YOUR pooshy, now you know.
😉
I think it might be “another way to call a cat a kitty”…
Gorgeous tea set, Robin. That tea cup better come with the saucer, for that price! Even with 10 saucers, it would still be pricey.
I’m not CP complaint, trying one of the new samples I got, Affinessence’s Santal Basmati. This one is interesting, starts off with steamed rice and I get something coconutty (although coconut is not a note), like a coconut rice dessert. And then I get something fruity, like mango, which is also not listed as a note! I’m relieved it’s not full bottle worthy for me because it’s super expensive, the drydown is meh.
Ha, it better come with the saucer and a butler to serve my tea!
Your scent sounds delicious, too bad the dry down is boring.
Hello everyone. I wore a lot of Chanel Paris Venise today – it seems much lighter than I thought it was when I tried it first a few years ago (is it my nose, my memory, or just the weather?) but light is what I wanted for today. It had faded so much by this evening that I tested Armani Orangerie Venise and Tom Ford Venetian Bergamot, and now feel like my very scattered day added up to some perfume-name coherency at least, ha!
A great summer scent
Could be the weather. Some perfumes I have are very dependent on environmental factors.
Pressed repeat with Oolang Infini today as I lucked into a haircut this morning (due to someone’s cancellation). She did a great job, and thankfully it was with the owner of the shop so I was familiar with her. I did go there for my last cut but my stylist then moved on to somewhere else.
Today, she used a plethora of products. I loved the oil in particular that she used so I thought I’d pick that up as well since I was in need of some anyways. I didn’t see the price since she grabbed it for me and just rang it in. Let’s just say that the oil cost as much as my haircut did.
What is this amazing oil??? I like your taste in oils. Since you talked about scenting jojoba oil with carrot essential oil, I’ve been a regular user 🙂
It’s this one. Upon further research I believe that you can also get it on Amazon. Of course I paid salon prices. I have thick, somewhat curly/wavy hair so this calmed down my ‘usual crazy’ look. She also used a straightening balm and another product remove the excess water from it before blow-drying. I can never get my hair the same as the salon. lol.
https://jbeverlyhills.com/products/revive-coconut-treatment-oil?variant=32201585000553
Thank you! That sounds lovely.
It took me years to realize (I’m a little slow sometimes:)) that in order to get my hair to look closer to how it looks at the salon, I would have to dry it more thoroughly…and use lots of good smelling products, or course.
Perfume repeat twins!
Hi twin!
Closest I’ve been to the CP thus far was some green tea ice cream mochi last night. 🤣😋 I’ve got a few potential candidates for Friday. We shall see what I am in the mood for then.
SOTD = back in Adieu Sagesse.
Green tea mochi ice cream mochi is delish!
The brand I found was OK. Their mango ice cream mochi is MUCH tastier! (I did the research, ha!)
Anything mochi is good to me. 🤤
Oof. What a day. I started my morning by opening the fridge to find an unopened glass half gallon of chocolate milk had exploded. Got too cold at the back of the fridge and froze. I cleaned up the small pond on the shelf, went to work, and came home and just finished cleaning up the lake of chocolate milk at the bottom of the fridge. I’m kicking myself because this happened one other time with regular milk, you’d think I’d learn. Well, milk has found a permanent home on the shelf inside the fridge door.
Guess I’m not getting my $2 bottle deposit back.😏 On the positive side, I’ve probably got the cleanest fridge on the block.😂
SotD was no 5 L’eau.
You smell great and sorry about the exploded milk!
Thanks! And lesson learned.😉
Oy vey on the exploded milk!
Yep.☹️
I have been there – have to be careful about what you put in the back of the fridge, things freeze which I have trouble remembering. Reminds me of the shattered glass jar of pickled beets I cleaned up several months ago.
Oh yikes, and beet juice stains so easily. Did your fridge come clean?
It did, but for weeks I was finding drips and drops of bright pink sticky juice. 🙂
SOTD = Nishane Wulong Cha Extrait
Woot and on theme with the CP!

I keep getting these ads for Florida. Why? I have not for even a nanosecond thought about visiting Florida!
In the meantime, I am still looking into taking a vacation. Where? Not so sure yet. I don’t want to compete with the summer vacationers and “revenge travelers” (heard this term for the first time 3 weeks ago and had read it since in the NYTimes).
Not sure where I first heard the term “revenge travel”, but I don’t want any part of it either!
A staycation looks more and more fun!
Sometimes what looks like “revenge travel” may just be “what we had planned for 2020 and are now being forced to take so we don’t lose the deposit.” Just saying. Apparently (and I still can’t quite believe it will come off) I’m going to Africa with a kid in 3 weeks. When I planned it in late 2019, it was just a normal splurge trip for some major milestones in our lives. Now it is a trip we’re being forced to take or lose our deposits. And I will apparently be camping out overnight downtown to get my kid’s passport renewed, because despite applying via the regular process two months ago, things are so backed up that we won’t get it in time (despite telling them our deadline), so I will have to get a last-minute passport.
In short, I don’t see it as “revenge travel”, though others might.
Oh dear, good luck with that passport!
I’m in Kelly Caleche EdT for the gorgeous, sprightly weather we’re having today. The dry, slightly scratchy leather is such a perfect counterpoint to the florals, and it wears sheer enough for the heat.
