Reminder: 5/27 is the start of Memorial Day weekend in the US. On Monday, we'll observe Memorial Day, but for today, we're celebrating the holiday's other meaning, as the unofficial beginning of summer. (In olden times, you could only wear white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day.) Wear something that fits your plans for Summer 2022! (If it's winter where you are, adjust accordingly.)

I’m in I Profumi di Firenze Vaniglia di Madagascar, from a decant: I never felt it was FBW though it’s very nice, sweet and comforting but with an arresting tinge of acidity to keep it from being too much. Not really a summer scent but it was very cool out this morning so I figured I could get away with a big vanilla one last time.
We agree on VdM…it is quite nice and I never felt I needed a whole bottle.
I’m in Hermann A Mes Cotes… from a (small) fb, which I bought this year. I love this one.

I’m commando, and sadly sitting in a Zoom workshop to fulfill an institutional requirement for sitting on any hiring committee. All the presenters are reading from a script. Yawn.
Thankfully, the kittens are here with me in my home office, and they are providing a welcome distraction. Cashmere is testing the pull switch on the desk lamp, Bully Idol is attacking a packaging peanut, and Easy-Peasy is pawing through a stack of papers. Turtle and Braveheart are wandering in and out, looking for something more interesting to play with.
What a fun way to stay distracted during a meeting! I bet everyone would rather watch kitties.
I should turn my camera on the kitties and give everybody a break!

Rained all day yesterday and cloudy today. I’m working much of this weekend, but will have mornings free. Hoping to hit an art fair on Sunday morning. I’d rather go Saturday, but my husband has turned into a golf fiend.

Accidentally on point for National Paper Airplane day in Bois d’Armenie. I chose it because I needed something soothing for a rather long day at the dentist today — they’re doing a crown in a single-appointment process so no temporary crown is required, but there is a 45-minute “intermission” while the crown is fabricated. I have some trepidation about this, but maybe it will all go just swimmingly (she said hopefully).
Hoping you will have a painless experience at the dentist.
I did! Well, mostly — that big needle with the Novocain (or whatever they use these days) wasn’t pleasant, but the rest was pain free. At the risk of jinxing things by speaking too soon, I’d say it went about as well as it possibly could have.

I really like Bois d’Armenie, and if they would only make a travel spray I’d be set. Haven’t tried Iris Torrefie yet, but I will sometime soon.
Yay for getting that done all at once! I’ve had temporary crowns before, and they aren’t fun.
It’s kinda funny — I usually like the temporaries better than the permanent crowns. 🤣
Mine were super sensitive to touch and temp, so I couldn’t wait to get the permanent ones on!

When my daughter was in 1st grade I got a call from the school saying they had lost my daughter. After too much time they found her across the street in a construction trailer. When they asked her what she was doing she said ” I thought there would be horses in here” she loves horses and dogs too.
Yeah, I feel her! I can’t even imagine getting a call like that. Geez, talk about anxiety!

I got a call like that once…in German. My kid somehow got “lost” between her classroom on the third floor of the school and her after-school care on the first floor. They called and I was like, “have you checked the playground?” They hadn’t, of course, because any well trained German child would have just gone straight to after school care. Not mine, who got distracted by the playground. And I could totally see her getting distracted by a trailer that looked like it had horses.

Since my summer plans involve enjoying our new house, I’m wearing Centennial since Colorado is the Centennial State.

Scentless and doomed to stay that way the rest of the week. After two years of avoiding it, I finally came down with COVID symptoms over the weekend and 2nd home test was positive on Monday night (no idea where I caught it). So I am isolating in our guest room and praying not to have infected anyone else. We are supposed to be leaving on Saturday to go to Vermont for my husband to run a marathon in his 29th state (goal is one in all 50) and then go visit his relatives in upstate NY. And our younger son is supposed to be leaving Sunday for a cruise with his girlfriend’s family. So far, no one else is sick, but average incubation time is about 6 days, so the next couple of days are crucial. I’m feeling better, though still pretty fatigued. The worst part will be the guilt if I mess everyone else’s plans up. If it works out, we will change my flight plan to leave next Tuesday at the 10-day mark and fly to Syracuse to meet my husband. At least my sense of smell is intact. Losing it to COVID has been one of my biggest fears the past 2 years. And I can look out the window at our roses going nuts and listen to the birds.

I am wearing Jean Patou Joy Forever, after my first water aerobics class of this summer and a nice, warm shower after I got home. I guess I can call it summer since its 84 degrees outside right now. The water in the pool was still very cold, even though the temperature outside was warm.

Today I’m trying out CSP Amour de Cacao from a swap meet decant and loving it. My boyfriend said I smell like Coco Puffs cereal. 😂 Also, this fits the CP because consuming lots of chocolate is always included in my summer plans.

Today was a random grab looking for something sweet. I saw a bottle of Burberry Brit and sprayed away. Although the label only says “Burberry Brit” edt, I found out by comparing bottle patterns that it is the BB Summer for Women flanker. It was a $1 thrifting find and I’d never paid attention to it or the Burberry line. I am very pleased with what to me is a nice almond-peony-woody-musky skin scent.

Grocery shopping for me today. I figure tomorrow is going to be crazy with people getting last-minute things for the Memorial Day weekend. Not bad today as far as crowds at the stores, so I am happy with that.

Would you believe I went to Costco on Sunday afternoon? By the time I was done shopping, the “self checkout” line had dwindled to a few people ahead of me. I did not buy any meat thought … will do that on Saturday and use my air fryer!
I avoid shopping on the weekends, since it seems that everyone else in my area slams the stores then. You were brave!

I’m in Pacifico again today. It’s a scent that I like enough to wear but won’t be sad if my last few weeks of teaching form a negative association with it and I end up having to rehome it.

I have really enjoyed finally having time to catch up to all the NST’ers. Quick question–does anyone know what has happened to Bois de Jasmin’s website? I can’t get it to pull up.
She took down her website. She had problems with people using her content, and claiming it was theirs.
That is really a shame. She had great perfume reviews and such nice reflections on books, food, and her travels, as well as her home country of Ukraine. I hope she makes a comeback sometime.
