Reminder: on 5/13, we'll celebrate World Cocktail Day...tell us about your favorite cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), provide a recipe if you like, and wear a perfume that would complement your choice or that picks up one of the notes in your cocktail. It doesn't have to be a boozy fragrance! (This is a repeat from 2018, and we also did a booze cruise in 2017).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Chanel Paris-Biarritz for another hot and muggy day. It was already 78 degrees when I left for work this morning.
I slept like a rock last night. Bad news bears this morning though, our AC would not kick on.😬 My other half will buzz home at lunch and take a look. Fingers crossed we don’t need a new one!🤞

I know! Crazy. Especially considering we’ve had snow as late as the beginning of May in years past.
Black Perfecto from a sample. I like the cherry..plus leather? Something on the base isn’t jiving well, some kind of musk. Galaxolide? I forget but something is strong musk on the base for me. Fun scent generally. Can’t go wrong with a nice cherry almond.
Tried some Teechino in Vanilla Nut..smells so good. Like coffee and sweet fruits.
Dali, I wasn’t a huge fan of his style but many are. I always think of the melting clocks. Lol. Surrealism I think? Definitely unique. Have tried several Dali perfumes as well. Lol
I like Black Perfecto, and couldn’t tell you all the chemicals but can see not loving the base.

Wearing Allure edt for a hot humid day. I have a “nose and lips” bottle of Salvador Dali original, I keep it for the bottle and haven’t smelled it in years, I’ll have to see if it’s held up.
Oh, I wonder? They had some fun fragrances.
It has held up although it’s sweeter than I remember. Fragrancenet has quite a few from the line for cheap.

Random meandering had us crossing paths with quite a few perfume opportunities yesterday. Best adventures were to be had at Parfums de Marly where I met the lovely Irwin, who had worked for Caron for almost 20 years back in the day, and Mizensir where I managed to spend nearly an hour with the sweet Logan and now I am spacing on the manager’s name, but she was loud, warm, and totally fun. Passionate perfumistas all of them. My husband had a blast as well. He is amazed at how easily we all bond over this strange and wonderful hobby.
Perfume of moment is the dregs of Darcy from a sample I picked up yesterday.
“These vagabond shoes, they are longing to stray. . . ” So I’m off again.

Got an answer to a medical quandary today: I have a reactivated mono infection. I didn’t even know that was a thing! I’m bummed that I may continue to feel weird for awhile but relieved it’s nothing worse.
I’m wearing Philosykos today and plotting a “you have mono; you deserve perfume” purchase. It will probably be Amouage Gold.

Hope you feel better soon. An ICU nurse neighbor on my street had reactivated Epstein Barr I believe maybe related to the COVID vaccine. I believe the theory is the vaccine might reactivate some dormant viruses…she had this maybe with her first dose and it resolved quickly.
That’s what my doc told me, too, though my booster was in the Fall, so who knows? Thanks for the encouragement on both counts!

After spending 2 hrs on hold with the tax dept yesterday, fought with the Quebec health dept phone tree & web site. Totally frustrating. It seems my letter advising them of our move was never received and they still think we are in QC and are being billed for health services. Sigh. And they will only handle my request if I book an appt on their website, which never has any appts available. I may have to go sit in their office next month when I am in Montreal next month to sort it out.

You nailed it! Self-service = no service. They make it easy for you to sign up on the web site, but if you want to leave (and stop paying) they make it as difficult as possible. Grrr.
It once took me over six months to cancel my AT&T phone service. Every month, I’d get a bill, call their 800 number, be put on hold for 30-plus minutes, and finally talk to a different rep, each of whom assured me that I wouldn’t receive another bill. Until the next month.
Sighing with you, hope the next step will be quicker.

My birthday was a little over a week ago. We’re celebrating it now because I have been out of town. My birthday present was a trip to upstate New York, which I had never been. It’s been a dream of mine to see Niagara Falls and I’m so happy we did. It was also a dream to see and smell lilacs in person, which we did at the Rochester NY Lilac Festival 💜

Toast and coffee again this morning.
Just got an unpleasant call from my recruiter who said the hospital I’ve been contracted with for over a month, start date Monday, has just said they are “dropping their rates.” Hmmm, I thought a “contract” was an agreement to specific terms there in..? Or maybe I’m the only one who is obligated to follow contract stipulations..? Hospital are so sketchy. Now that they’re not getting government money, they’ve stopped testing for Covid except on specific admissions, are cohorting positive patients with the general presumed negative patients. And, they wait until the last minute to drop the bomb, thinking that nurses, told last minute, will not want an interruption in pay/benefits, etc. So shady. When I had to cancel a contract a few years ago, the warnings were dire because I was “not keeping up my end of the bargain.” 🙄
Anyway, the drop was quite significant so I canceled my contract and am now a free bird once again. For how long, nobody knows…

Good you stood your ground. When we secured a private duty nurse through an agency, we paid $25 per hour. We did not know how much they were getting paid but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was < $15.

I got some samples with my Lucky Scent order and today I’m wearing Caffeine Honey. I smell coffee and cognac, and I wonder if there is a cocktail made with those ingredients? The honey is creeping in as I type. It’s interesting.
If you want a cold drink try a coffee brandy Alexander. If you want a hot one just add cognac (and maybe a little rum and orange liqueur) to your coffee.
I apparently smell like Smell Bent’s Florist’s Fridge, but I’m congested and can’t smell it myself.
Three negative COVID tests, so I’m reasonably sure it is only a cold. I feel OK, but I sound like a bullfrog!
Tea today is a chai to try to clear my sinuses, but no luck yet. Perhaps I should switch to peppermint.
You could try a slice of lemon and a slice of ginger in a cup of green tea and sweeten to taste (we use honey). It was my grandmother’s go to when we got sick as kids… hope you get to feeling better soon.
That sounds comforting and good; in most cases I only like ginger when I don’t feel well! The main exception is in red lentil soup.

Maybe add a bit of a potent potable to your tea of choice? I’ve been known to use a shot of whiskey in Lapsang Souchong tea when I am not feeling well. Plus loads of honey to soothe a sore throat. ☕🥃🐝

Eeek, feel better soon. I don’t want to disgust you but I may. Ever since I saw a cleaner wipe every desk and desk phone with the same dirty rag, I have been wiping down my desk, peripherals and chairs every single day. This desk cleaning practice has been going on for a very.long.time.
Eww. Luckily I get to lock my office door. No one (other than me) cleans it but at least no one (other than me) makes it germy either! I’m pretty sure I caught this when I went massless in public for the first time at a restaurant last week. My immune system is out of practice.

Another day, another late post! I had an afternoon hair appointment, and left about half my hair on the salon floor today. I needed it, I guess. 🤣 I also ran a couple of quick errands afterwards. I needed a hoodie, though… the wind was a bit chilly.

Tomorrow, I will get outside at first light and finish some garden tasks. Chez Mossy toughed it out last night, but the AC came on this morning. Sad about it; thinking of years ago when July 4th was the target. It’s been funny to watch the cats find different places to curl up where it’s cooler – of course some of them are right under foot! SotAfternoon, Dirorella! I just could not handle any bombshell notes; Diorella may the The One that fills my cologne fresh spot! (But need to dig out my 4711.)

I had a good session with my physical therapist today. She commented that I’ve really been making good progress lately. Yay! After that I took an Uber and went to a nice area where I could visit my favorite little boutique and then go to eat at my favorite little cafe. I had the most delicious panini: avocado and gorgonzola with tomatoes, red onion, and pickles–MMMM–plus a nice big glass of wine. Then I took an Uber back home. Recently I’ve been feeling such awful cabin fever. It was really nice to feel I could get out even if just for a bit and have fun! It’s very hot here already, but I didn’t have to walk very far, so I survived. Plus I got a cute new jacket at the boutique that was on 1/2 price sale!
SOTD is Amouage Opus VIII. It’s among my top five or six fragrances but I don’t wear it too often because it feels kind of “heavy.” Not perfume heavy but just something kind of deep and pensive.
I’m eagerly awaiting the popping out of the numerous big fat buds on my neighbor’s big gardenia bush!
