It's Tuesday. Happy 72nd birthday to Miuccia Bianchi Prada! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Prada L’Eau Ambrée. Tea at the moment is Upton Christmas black tea with a splash of milk.
Reminder: on 5/13, we'll celebrate World Cocktail Day...tell us about your favorite cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), provide a recipe if you like, and wear a perfume that would complement your choice or that picks up one of the notes in your cocktail. It doesn't have to be a boozy fragrance! (This is a repeat from 2018, and we also did a booze cruise in 2017).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Les Fleurs Du Mal porcelain teapot is $440 at Prada.
We have instant summer this week on the Midwest seasonal roller coaster, so I’m looking at warm weather perfumes. Think I’ll go with Fox in the Flowerbed today.
That teapot is very cute.
Love the teapot too
But that price
I didn’t look at the price 😳
Best not to look.
One of my favorite fragrances this year.
that teapot is very nice.
Mint tea this morning with sugar
Angélique Noire
A Guerlain week for me
I am about 150 pages into a little life 📕 book, and enjoying it immensely. The author loves to set NYC as 🏙
And I am still in Pachinko! (Reading one other book at the same time, but still, it is long.)
A Guerlain week sounds very fun!
Cool this morning so I don’t feel out of place wearing SL Chypre Rouge, probably the strangest scent I own and one of the most endlessly fascinating.
SL’s weird ones are my favorite – you smell fantastic!
I like that one too. I used to have a decent sized sample of it but it’s gone astray.
I was reading this too fast and thought that your sample had “gone ashtray”. Oooops. 😳🥴
Another Chypre Rouge fan here. I have a treasured bell jar from a trip to Paris a few years ago.
Good morning.
Sotd is Lush Rose Jam.
I just used Lush’s Sticky Dates shower gel and it’s sooo sweet and satisfying.
Currently drinking rose and vanilla latte.
Ack, forgot I need to go get that shower gel!! Soon.
Is the Lush Sticky Dates seasonal? I might have to hurry into a store before it is gone.
Butting in to say, yes, LUSH Sticky Dates is seasonal/limited edition.
You should run, don’t walk to Lush. Sticky Dates shower gel is one of the best smelling shower gels, IMHO.
As a contrast to yesterday’s vanilla bomb, I am wearing the herbal, citrussy goodness of Eau de Sud. Is this discontinued. I didn’t find it at any of my regular decant houses. I ended up ordering a half ounce bottle from ebay.
I don’t think it is discontinued.
https://www.goutalparis.com/products/eau-du-sud-eau-de-toilette
I love Eau du Sud! You smell great.
I’m in Le Labo Bergamote 22, day 4. I’m on a streak! We’ve gone from wool coat weather to instant summer overnight, literally, so I am craving my summer citrus scents.😎🌞
You smell fantastic, madtowngirl, and please pass the weather 🙂
Thanks Robin! I would gladly pass you the weather, we broke a record here today: 90!🥵
Wow, that sounds like a record for degree change within 24 hours, too!
Sigh…can’t we all just have a few weeks of high 70s?
I know I’m a day late and a dollar short with this comment, but that would be divine! 🥵
No worries, I am even later 🙂
I wish! Still wool coat weather here in BC.
Be careful what you wish for.😉 I’m not sure what’s worse, wool coat weather or 90 with dew points in the 60’s. It feels like July or August!
At this time of year, I’d rather have the wool coat weather than humid 90’s! Not ready for sticky & muggy! 🥵
Yesterday my parents and I went to the Cleveland rainforest. It was only $6 per person and we enjoyed ourselves. Today I am in Beloved and debating if I should grab a back up bottle of Courtesan on fragrancenet.com. I am leaning towards no right now. Maybe later this month or in June. Let’s see what I can finish off first before I get anything.
Oh that Rainforest looks so fun! I did not know about it.
https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/cleveland-metro/cleveland-zoo-expands-rainforest-to-create-primate-forest
I’m in California Rêverie today to celebrate warmer weather here. Supposedly thunderstorms are possible, but they didn’t materialize last night so hoping they stay away today also. Heading down to Costco to pick up new glasses.
And…I start a part time job on Thursday. Working in our local grocery market. It’s not big, but it is well stocked and well regarded. A hub for the summer visitors to this side of the northern part of our peninsula. I’ll be in the bakery, which I realized might mean a hair net! Ugh. Hoping to mix it up with front end cashier stints. Best part is it’s a very short walk.
Oh good luck in your new job! Boo on hairnet but yay on baked goods? And walking to work is lovely.
Maybe you can wear a baseball cap or beanie instead.
Congrats on the new job! I hope you like it. Will you get an employee discount? 😉
You smell great! Enjoy your new job! That’s my dream, to be able to walk to work.☺️
Best of luck with the new job!
Congrats on the PT job!
Congratulations, LizzieB! That sounds like fun.
Robin, you smell lovely! Slept straight through to 7:30 and woke to a sunny morning, so I’m in SMN Eva, my favorite orange blossom scent ever. Planning to get out in the yard today!
Hey, you smell lovely too! I do love Eva.
Have we ever done favorite mainstream fragrances for a CP? I am wearing one of mine today and that would be Marc Jacobs Daisy. Still love it 💕
We have done various mainstream/designer fragrance project but not sure one that general, will add to list!
Wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue.
Warm, bright, sunny and windy spring day. Love it!
I am at one of the construction sites the whole week. I will catch up on comments at the end of the week.
Happy Tuesday, everyone! 🌻
You smell lovely! I’m glad you’re having such great weather today and hope it continues. 😊
Thank you, Nancy!
The weather this week is going to be gorgeous here! So happy!
Great choice in your scent! Enjoy your weather; but if you tire of it, feel free to send it my way. 🌞
Thank you, Gail!
I will send my weather to you at the end of the week. It looks like is going to be raining hard here on Friday and Saturday! 😫🌞🌞
You smell great and this week is a particularly great week for you to be outside!
Hope that we keep the bright shiny thing in the sky around for a little while!
Fingers crossed! 🌞
Robin, you always find the prettiest teapots. 🫖
I’m in at least ten sprays of Rose Ikebana this morning. I’ve had this little travel spray for awhile, and it’s time to enjoy it wholeheartedly without worrying about the juice level. 😃
And my own teapots are so boring! Fun to look at pretty ones though.
You smell great, maybe I will wear that tomorrow.
If you don’t mind Japanese style teapot and cups you can get pretty sets at Utstuwa-no-yakata. My favorite tea set came from their shop in the Mitsuwa grocery store plaza in Edgewater, NJ.
Thanks Kinuknits!
Chilly start to the day in LA. Not complaining, mind you.
Liberal sprays of Box of Eels edt today.
Reading confession – The Palace Papers by Tina Brown about the Royals. It works for me after a long day of meetings.
Ha, that looks like a trashy fun read!!
I saw TB being interviewed and wanted to rush right out and get that book!
I’ve been up for hours, which is uncharacteristic for me. I couldn’t sleep at all last night so finally gave up at 6:30 and got up and turned on the coffee machine. While it was dripping I fed the cats. Then I turned on the TV and caught the end of Jackson Galaxy and My Cat from Hell. Great show!
I’m trying Arielle Shoshana Friday and it’s my favorite of the trio of her samples I have. I love that fizzy bergamot opening. Perhaps a bit like a G&T. One of my favorite cocktails. Or drinks.
Hi Calypso. I’ve just watched a British thriller and thought it might be up your street. It’s called Vigil and is set aboard a submarine so it’s quite claustrophobic. I was going to paste a review but it gave away too much of the plot so I will say it’s quite good and a bit far fetched.
Also, Annicka set off Glasgow. Also quite good and also silly in places
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/aug/17/annika-review-nicola-walker-as-a-maritime-cop-is-sure-to-reel-you-in?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
But both series are short and watchable and set in Scotland with decent plot and actors
Pardon my butting in but where are these streaming? I like Nicola Walker.
I don’t know where Vigil would be in the US. It’s a BBC production and is streamed on Neon here.
Now I am butting in … I really liked Annika (the Nicola Walker), and it’s on PBS Passport in the US.
Prada Amber Homme which I think smells like a classy soap. I’m so busy right now! Too many (can there be too many?) fun trips in a row so I’m behind at both home and work. Oh well, YOLO!
I love PAH! You smell great.
Bucketing down rain all night, this morning very chilly and damp. I’m in Profvmvm Ambra Aurea this morning to keep me cozy.
Brekkie is toast and scorching coffee to start the day! ☕️
You smell wonderful!
Tea this morning was Jet Black from August (black tea, roasted maté, and espresso bean.) I drink this when I need extra caffeine but don’t want to go full-on coffee. Strong and yummy!
SotD is Tauer Vanilla Flash. At first, I wasn’t sure about the wisdom of buying this, but today it’s wonderful. It’s standing up to the sunny and somewhat warmer day here, but very windy. ☀️🌬
Wow, that tea sounds amazing! I did not know you could brew espresso bean that way.
The weather has turned gloomy: low misty cloud and rain ‘dregging’ down. Still dark and both dogs ( wet fur and paws smelling of muddy earth) are on the bed, snuggled up as if they own the place. Wearing Lush Shade: a cosy lemon, vanilla, frankincense, sandalwood blend that is quieter than most Lush perfumes. The bottled perfume is much better than the solid version.
‘ Dregging’ was a term my parents always used to describe heavy, saturating rain. I never heard it used by New Zealanders so I’m guessing it must be a North of England/ Lancashire term?
Adding one more to those New Zealanders who haven’t heard of dregging 🙂
Mmm you smell good!
I’m wearing Guerlain’s Encens Mythique d’Orient, and have my fingers crossed for better luck getting to Dunedin tonight. No fog at the airport, I hope! Kanuka’s description of misty low cloud doesn’t sound too worrying.
It’s cleared up now and is just grey
Scent twins! Nowhere near an airport, though
I love EM and it occurs to me that it would be a very comforting travel companion!
Good travels to you!
Safe travels Gaynor!
SOTD is very appropriately Un cœur en mai, a gentle green floral composed by Patricia de Nicolai.
Another warm spring day today, although most of it was spent in the office.
It’s the first time I hear about this perfume. By the way, I read the article about Therese’s perfume on Grain de Musc. Is is beautiful, indeed. Thank you!
The brand for that one is MDCI, it is lovely 🙂
Isn’t it just lovely? So evocative.
Eau Rose Diptyque Edp from a sample. While I like it some, I think I prefer the lighter, Edt. This darker version I would probably prefer to wear in the cooler months. I like the edp more as it dries down. But not in the mood on a sunny, bright day. Feeling kinda meh today idk why. Overall meh lol.
I agree with you in the edt v edp of Eau Rose. I like the chamomile in the opening, but after that, I found myself wishing for the edt. Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks:) They also have the lovely, solid perfumes. Would love one in Eau Rose edt
Those containers for the solids are so pretty, I have often been tempted. Do you know if they smell the same?
I sniffed the solids recently, I would say the solid of Eau Rose smells similar enough to purchase. Forgot about the other ones..as I was fixated on the Eau Rose lol. I think there was an orange one that smelled pretty ok. They are so nice in person. I love the Swan design on one of them..forgot what scent it had.
Hope you’re feeling better now, Omega!
Thanks:)
Trying Maison Rebatchi Feu Patchouli today.
Getting mostly sweet and woody patchouli in the opening. Looking up the full notes now and see it has carnation and clove 😬 eek! …depending on the amount, they are sometimes my nemeses…I often don’t get along w/ too much eugenol but we shall see how it wears.
Are you … exploring patchouli these days?
In Berdoues Scorza di Sicilia. It reminds me of my mom’s favorite cocktail, a gimlet, and also of the mixed crates of Brookdale soda that were staples of family gatherings in my childhood. A variety of sodas for the kids and mixers for the adults cocktails. If you grew up in or around Essex county NJ in the 70s and 80s you might recognize the brand. My favorites were the birch, cream, and orange sodas.
I liked a blue cream soda when I was a kid not sure who made it.
Speaking of cocktails..one of the yummier drinks I have had was at BJ’s Brewhouse. I think it was called Strawberry Splash. (cerevoise, pineapple wedge, amaretto disaronno 1 3/4 oz, grey goose 1 oz, pina colada 2 oz, strawberry puree 2oz). Pretty tasty.
(Not sure what cerevoise means lol).
Dad’s or Frostie maybe? I grew up with clear pale yellow or occasionally red colored cream soda.
Drank a lot of Snapple sodas in HS (Brookdale soda went out of business in the late 80s).
I think it may have been Frostie but not sure. Soda always tastes better from a bottle.
Birch beer seems to be an acquired taste. I first tried it as an adult and didn’t care for it in the slightest. Thankfully there are some excellent root beers made in the greater Philadelphia area, so I am quite happy with those.
Lol, that it is. I like sarsaparilla soda and rootbeer too.
Hi everyone! I had an early morning doctor’s appointment so didn’t wear any perfume for that, and then I rewarded myself afterwards with visits to Lush and Neiman Marcus. I got the Lush Classics discovery box of five 10ml sprays (I wish we could pick which ones we want in the box, but alas no), since I wasn’t ready to pull the trigger on a large-size-only bottle of The Smell of Weather Turning. I like it but will have to retest to see if I really want it. My arms smell like a “cocktail” of different Lush scents!
At NM I bought a small spray of L’Eau d’Hiver, and the SA gave me tons of free samples! Yay.
It suddenly went HOT here and my AC isn’t working, so I’m hoping my landlady can get that fixed soon. My HVAC system is probably on its last legs. Don’t you love it when repair people say things like, “I haven’t seen one of these in a while!” I’m glad I rent in those instances!
LOL, socks, on the repair person comment!
HA! I have had a repair person say the same exact thing about my dishwasher! Thankfully it is still trucking along.
Oh good! Sometimes the older models worked better anyway.
12 years ago the A/C repairman said that to me. Fingers crossed it lasts through the summer!
I’ll cross my fingers for you too!
We have a Hoover Windtunnel that probably belongs in a museum at this point…it is over 20 years old. The repair guy always says how nice it is that we keep fixing it. I guess because we are keeping him in business?
Joining the suddenly hot weather crew – I was slightly wilted after some light gardening earlier! SotD is Radiant Mirage, as I work my way through the new Estee Lauder coffret. Radiant Mirage has a patchouli note I really like. Sensuous Stars has been my favorite so far in a full day test. In other news, I ordered an “active wear” skirt and am finding it nicely cool and opaque as promised, so no slip necessary. It is almost too short, but I noticed it was cut longer on the back panel, which showed design thoughtfulness. The brand is Royal Robbins.
Interesting. I don’t like wearing skirts or dresses, but I find skirts to be the least flattering for me. I was looking at the latest JJill catalog and saw a maxi dress I may get for my niece’s wedding. I plan to pair it with a cardigan in the blue family. My older sister thinks it’s too casual but my younger sister (mother of the bride) said it was fine. It’s not black tie.
https://www.jjill.com/product/we-maxi-tank-dress-2382814jzxl?jid=94656256&category=P&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIz6PV5KrT9wIVSOTICh25nwLmEAQYASABEgLCz_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
The patterned maxi is rather cute! I think it could easily be dressed up or down depending on accessories and such.
I couldn’t see you wearing anything frou frou EVER!
That’s pretty! I like the neckline.
Very pretty! I think that dress is good wedding outfit.
Congratulations to the young couple!
Sunshine this morning so I decided to wash all the windows. Skies are threatening showers but nothing yet. Sitting on hold and wait time is estimated at 2-2.5 hours ?!? May or may not hang up.
Wearing Rose Chérie to cheer me up in the face of lots of unpleasant chores ahead.
Ugh to waiting on hold. That’s an extreme amount of time!
I was shocked to hear that wait time as well, but I eventually did get through!
When I had to call Social Security to address an item related to my mom, I was on hold for 45 minutes … and then the switching mechanism hung up on me.
I hope you got what you had to do done.
It cut me off the first time (fortunately after only 2 minutes). My second attempt I was on hold for nearly 2 hours but finally did get through and got my question answered by Canada Revenue Agency (US equivalent of IRS).
That’s an insane amount of time to be on hold!
It was! But at least I got my question answered in the end.
Gorgeous teapot today, Robin! But for that price, it had better be, right?
The afternoon got away from me, so I am posting late. Back on the weather roller coaster here. Heat is turned off today. Not sure when the A/C will have to be turned on. 😂
SOTD = Opium Eau de Orient Orchidee de Chine EdT. One of my best blind buy bottles, IMO.
Probably tomorrow.😉😂 Turned mine on this afternoon when I got home from work.
If it happens here, I will post. Hopefully not just yet, though.
83 and humid here. So far I haven’t turned on the A/C. I don’t even know if it’s going to work after non stop running last summer.
Too hot 🥵 too soon!
I agree. Believe it or not!
Ok I caved. A/C is on!. Lol
Humid!! Yech! Me no likey!
I turned my heat off and I am hoping this is it so I can turn on the a/c at some point and not have to flip back and forth. I have to turn something in the basement which my mom had helpfully written Summer and Winter.
After what this “Spring” has been like, I’m not going to bet on anything happening or not! 🙄
Yeah, our spring was pretty much nonexistent! Went from cold and rainy to hot and humid. We are not amused.
You gotta figure if Prada makes a teapot, it is going to cost you 🙂
SOTD = 4160Tuesdays Fluffy Lemon Top
Citrus, iris and woody bits! 💛 Lemon granita!

In other news, I finally cleaned out my pre-pandemic drawer in the office. Somehow, in a span of 6 months (from October 1, 2019 to March 9, 2020), I managed to accumulate a lot of straws (2 lengths, and I threw out the shorter ones), ~ 5 inch stack of paper napkins (brought home), many knives (threw out), brown sugar (they don’t go bad, do they?), a pack of M&Ms (threw out), a 1/4 eaten bar of fundraiser chocolate bar (threw out) and a packet of wasabi (threw out). I feel lighter!
I would have been tempted to try the M&M’s 🤣
Brown sugar doesn’t go bad, it just gets hard as a rock in the large bags.
And I’m with lillyjo; I would have tried the M&M’s too.
Does chocolate go bad? I probably would have eaten them.
I think with M&M’s it’s the candy coated shell that can get gross.
LOL on the cleanout. :-). You smell great!
My phone updated itself and I don’t like it. It gave me a bunch of new apps, which I deleted. Now I can’t get the notification for me to reinstall to go away. ( game and food apps). Plus my weather is different.
I’ve had Rose Jam on most of the day because I had to cover up the awful (to me) JPG La Belle. AMBROXAN BOMB! I almost fainted, I tell ya.
I am now trying out Thymes Tupelo Lemongrass from a lovely swap. I really like this for the humidity we are having. It’s very refreshing.
So far I haven’t had any unwanted updates on my phone. But it will notify me when I haven’t used apps in a while. Most of them came installed with the OS.
Thymes makes some really nice cologne-type fragrances!
I hate some of these updates, so annoying. And the Ambroxan plague is killing me too – so many new perfumes are so overloaded with it, burns my nose.
Ambroxan is a cheap ingredient..and it’s not of quality. No bueno.
Very late, but I wore CSP Amour de Cacao today. It wasn’t overly sweet and would probably make a great drink! Vanilla and chocolate with a bit of orange.
Oooooh, orange is one of my favorite flavors to pair with chocolate. 🍫🍊
