It's Hump Day, plus National Prime Rib Day. Birthdays: Mary Wollstonecraft, Samuel Morse, Ulysses Grant, Coretta Scott King. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in 4160Tuesdays What I Did On My Holidays for Hilma af Klint, The Ten Largest, No. 1 and 2 (childhood).
Reminder: on 4/29 we're doing Picture Challenge, edition 7: Hilma af Klint, The Ten Largest. Wear a perfume that matches the picture(s) of your choice from this series that depicts the stages of life. (There is lots more information on this challenge here.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Slept horribly last night. On my second cuppa
Happy Birthday Mary Wollstonecraft
“I do not wish them [women] to have power over men; but over themselves.”
Amen!
Thinking about Mary, I will wear 31 RC which always makes me feel like my most confident self.
You smell wonderful today.
I am really enjoying this scent today
Thank you for this great quotation!
She is a pioneer of feminist philosophy 😍🥰
Wow, we are twins again…tired here.
Me too. Is it the moon 🌝
Must be!
Hello, everyone!
To match the bouquet of lilacs I picked yesterday I am wearing FM En passant, but I think it could match Hilma af Klint, The Ten Largest No. 2 too 🙂
Hope you all have a beautiful day.
Thank you NinaV! A beautiful day is such a gift, hope that’s what today is like for you. And what a wonderful gift to yourself to have picked some lilacs ❤️
It was! I was running by the local river when I noticed the smell of lilacs, and after my run I found the tree and picked some to bring home with me.
How lovely! I absolutely adore lilacs.
Lilacs! Ours are not yet blooming.
Mine neither, I think another couple of weeks at least.
Here they are in full bloom.
I’m wearing Inlé, from a new Memo discovery set. Very pretty, but I doubt the longevity on my skin.
Most of the Memo fragrances from that series were very light on me.
Wearing Roberto Cavalli Oro, perfect for a cold but beautiful spring day. This always reminds me of The Non Blonde because she liked it so much. I found my bottle at TJMaxx after Gaia wrote about it years ago, it was super cheap because the plastic snake had broken off.
Roberto Cavalli should send you a replacement snake 🙂
Lol I don’t miss it.
It’s our wedding anniversary! Started the day with a 6.5-mile trek around the East end of the island we are visiting, and will have a nice dinner later on at one of the two restaurants currently open on the island. Tomorrow, back to Galway.
Probably HdP 1804 again for me (my Monday CP choice, linked to “Youth”), which may be okay because I am surprised by how great I feel after walking nearly 20 miles in the past day and a half. And because I wore Prada Infusion d’Iris yesterday, and found it ho-hum. Usually, I enjoy its easy presence, but yesterday it just didn’t make me happy.
Happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!🥂
Happy Anniversary! 🍾
Happy anniversary! Are you in the Aran Islands, by any chance? (Just guessing since you’re heading back to Galway.) We were there a few years ago and loved it — hope you’re having a wonderful visit.
We are on Inishbofin, which is significantly smaller (at least, less populated) than the Arans. We did get to InishMor for a day trip (with our students), but this is a trip just for us. Would love to get to InishMean but may not fit it in. It feels drastically different here than on InishMor, but I am feeling very lucky to have visited both.
Congratulations and thank you for this lovely story, that little island adventure sounds great!
Happy Anniversary, skalolazka!
Happy Anniversary!
Happy anniversary!
What a lovely place for your anniversary — congrats!
Hope the celebratory dinner will be scrumptious.
Happy Anniversary!
🥂
Happy Anniversary!
Happy anniversary. Walking is such a joy.
What a wonderful experience you are having! Walking is the best therapy physically, mentally and emotionally. Happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary! May you have many more!
Happy Anniversary!
Adding my late wishes for a happy anniversary!
Cold and rainy today, but I don’t care, because I’m wrapped up in the extra-spicy carnation of Caron Coup de Fouet, which will ward off any chill.
Yep, it will!
This is my good week. I got to be one of the purchasers of Oases, the new limited edition for American Perfumer. Last night, our offer was accepted for a house. Woot, woot, woot! My manager said it took him and his wife viewing 60 houses over 8 months to get his house. In 4 days we saw 5 houses and got an acceptance. There weren’t even any other offers so we didn’t have to worry about a bidding war. Wearing Clouds of Flowers since I feel like I’m on cloud nine
Lucky you!! Congratulations!
Woot woot! Good for you!
Great news! Congratulations!
Congratulations! That IS an achievement — no bidding war, a short shopping period.
Cloud nine! Congratulations!
Wow, congratulations!
Congratulations! I hope the rest of the process goes well!
Wonderful news and so exciting! Congratulations.
All great news, congratulations!
Wow, that’s lovely!
Such exciting news! Congratulations!
Fabulous news!Congrats!
Fantastic. I hope everything proceeds smoothly.
That’s awesome – congrats!
How wonderful, congrats!
We lucked into our current house, too; we weren’t even really looking. I fell in love with the house, we scheduled a meeting with a realtor two days later, and he told us there was another offer on the house that was about to be accepted, so we matched it and poof! here we are. We are now looking for a bigger house, so we will see how that goes 🙂
Congratulations, that’s very exciting!
W00t w00t w00t! Congrats on the perfume get and on your house offer being accepted! Have you thought about getting a lottery ticket? 😉
Congratulations to you! It was meant to be.
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Hello everyone! Surprising myself at how difficult it is to have a Serge Lutens week – after I wrapped myself up in FdB on Monday I wanted to keep going, yet despite the beautiful perfumes I have, I can’t find anything that appeals. Wearing L’Eau d’Armoise as it seemed to suit the dry flatness of today…poor Serge, what a thing to say about him! Good wishes to you all.
I have not done a Serge week in a long time. Sorry you did not find the right thing for the day!
Thanks Robin 😀 I think the fault is less with Serge than it is with my current state of mind..who wants a dry, flat day? So tomorrow I will work towards beauty and drama and warmth – plenty of good perfumes for that!
I might wear Daim Blond later as it works so well in autumn.
Ah this is one of the many SLs I have yet to smell but it sounds wonderful.
Wearing Hermes Paprika Brasil.
It was a very stressful day yesterday. Early in the morning, one of the workers doing repairs on the rear façade of our building fell down from the 4th floor landing on concrete. I hope from the bottom of my heart that he survived, but what I saw was bad. I saw this coming at any time. It is not the first time this company does repair work in the building and the safety conditions are the worst I have ever seen in my life. Complaints have been filed, inspectors have stopped work until the violations are addressed and weeks later they resume work without any changes. While I was drinking my first cup of coffee, the guy passed by my kitchen window trying to reach the fire stairs going to the roof. A second later he was not there anymore. A tragedy that could have been easily avoided by everyone involved, but I will stop my comment here.
Cold, windy but bright sunny day. Planning to take a walk at luch time and have a triple strengh coffee outside. Hope Bear is doing ok.
Happy Wednesday, everyone! ☕️☕️☕️
Yikes. I hope he is okay too. And that today is less stressful for you!
This all sounds so terrible.
I am sorry you had to witness such a tragedy, pl67 😞
I’m so sorry for you having witnessed this and for this man who was just trying to do his job and didn’t receive the protection he needed. Sending hugs:)
All of this. So awful.
How traumatic, I’m sorry. I hope the worker survives, what a terrible accident.
Oh no, that’s just awful.
What a terrible event.
How awful, I am so sorry.
pl67, I am so sorry to hear about this.
How awful.Hope the rest of your day improves!✌🏻🌹☀️
How awful and sad. I am very sorry.
What a terrible thing to happen.
Oh no, how terrible; I truly hope he will be ok.
That’s dreadful, doubly so when there is already a history of safety concerns.
Holy bleeping bleep! I would be a complete mess after seeing something like that. So sorry you had to witness it. Hugs.
What a horrible story, especially the fact that it’s been an ongoing problem! I’m so sorry that it happened, and that you have experienced this.
Oh my goodness, what a horrible thing to have happen.
Oh PL67, what an appalling tragedy to witness, and how terrible for that worker and all his friends and colleagues too. Hugs.
The artwork reminds me of something I can’t quite put my finger on. Chilly this morning! Ready for spring to really get here. Anytime now.
I’m in Molecule 01. Happy hump day!
It’s 36 degrees here!
Wow! Don’t know what it is here but we are expecting a high of 52, boo hiss.
It’s 44 here!😩
I chose Regime des Fleurs Little Flower for today’s paintings. The choice is a bit on the nose perhaps, but it fits for more than just the little flowers. For one, the involvement of Chloe Sevigny, someone who surely has a childlike spirit. For another, the blue of the bottle label. I don’t have a FB, but funnily enough the sample I have also has a label with lots of blue — it was hand-written in blue pen and the ink has smudged from handling, resulting in a wash of blue very close to the backgrounds of today’s artworks.
Oh how very perfect!!
(Really enjoying CS in the latest season of Russian Doll.)
I binged it a few days ago, and no spoilers, but episode 6 (of 7) is ASTONISHING. It’s incredibly dense and multifaceted — unexpected things kept happening, and I found myself laughing out loud repeatedly, not because it was funny, but because it was so audacious. I felt as if the whole season was leading up to that half hour.
Well, I guess I need to give it another try. The first season lost me about midway through and I never got back into it.
The show is not for everyone (what work of art is?), and in truth season 2 is not as good as season 1 (which I rewatched before tucking into the new season), but that sixth episode made the whole thing worth it. You could give season 1 another go: the ending is unexpected and moving, with echoes of The Good Place’s “What We Owe To Each Other”.
In Memory of Kindness for childhood and growing, blossoming things. Next stop, more coffee. It’s the week Board memos are due, and I’ve got three of them on the go. Is it only Wednesday? These weeks feel months long.
You smell fantastic ockeghem!
Good luck with those memos.
Memory of kindness sounds wonderful!Good luck with your memos!
Parents left for their vacation to California this morning. Been up since quarter to 3 this morning since they had to be to the airport so early. Currently in no 5 edt and hoping that the dogs will be OK while I am at work today.
Ugh, those early-early flights are the worst! Hope you get a nap in later. 🙂
Wow, that is serious early.
2:45!!! Ack!!! That is in the horrible zone of too late to stay up and too early to wake up.
You are exactly right!
Blargh! That is disgustingly early!
Doing work calls from home this morning so I can wear as much SL Tubéreuse Criminelle as I want!
This sounds perfect!
I’m in Dzongkha, and it is just perfect this morning.
Putting out this APB– email me if you are in the NYC-area and want to get together. Second week in June-ish. Would love to see your beautiful faces!
ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
Ummmm. Second week in May-ish. May. May. May.
You smell perfect!
Jealous of your trip. Have you decided to miss the Met Gala this year?
Tom and Anna asked me the same. You know, Ford and Wintour? I am going to miss it, this year at least. Our yacht is not scheduled to dock until later in the week, and, well, trade winds.
…and meeting fellow perfumistas is much more entertaining! 😄
Those darn trade winds. Also, I hear the doldrums can be a problem .
You smell great.
Happy Freedom Day South Africa!
It’s a public holiday here, had a wonderful laaaate start to the morning.Chills are in the air,a part of me do “enjoy” the crispness of Autumn air
SOTD!
Cozy in Kayali Amber.
Happy Humpday to all!
XO’s
Happy freedom day!
Thank you T!✌🏻
🥰
🤗🇿🇦
Happy Freedom day!
Enjoy your day off!
Happy Freedom Day!
Happy Freedom Day! Enjoy your time off! 🌹
Happy Freedom Day!
Happy Freedom Day to you, J B!
What a special day – enjoy!
Another day in Scents of Wood, this time Leather in Bourbon.
I need to try more leather perfumes! Hope it’s a lovely perfume for you today.
I’m liking it a lot. Some leathers are too smoky & butch for me but this one is not.
Waiting on the mail to be delivered w/ a sample of Volutes EDP today. Somehow I have never tried this one.
Wanted to ask if the EDT is better…I see it’s discontinued so assume it is… 😉
Report back please. Have a great day
A very nice blend of woodsy iris and honey…I got more honey than tobacco perhaps even.
The EDT is better – the iris comes out more to the forefront and it feels lighter but with good longevity.
I kind of go back and forth between the two.
Thanks for sharing…good to know!
Inspired by She-ra, I’m wearing Volutes in the edt formulation. Have never tried the edp so can’t give any feedback as to similarities or differences.
Just about to board the ferry and head back to the mainland. The crossing over on Sunday was quite pleasant, minimal winds and calm seas. It looks to be the same today. So, like most things we worry about, 99% never come to fruition.
Cheers and Happy Humpday!
Love your adventures on Insta!
Safe travels!🌹✌🏻🤗
Maybe I’ll be behind you by one day again!
I worry about everything so for me it’s 50/50.
😍
Yes, most things we worry about do not come fruition…while the bad stuff that was not even on our radar sometimes does… 🤨 Sometimes I feel like I can’t handle what my brain can contemplate if that makes any sense. ehaeheh I often think too much I guess is the simple way of saying it. 🙂
She-ra I am right there with you. One of the reasons I am so grateful for my perfume obsession is it slows down the thinking/worrying.
In the Bulgari blue tea, and yes, you bet, following the CP, yes, that’s right, not at all a coincidence
I saw your comment and thought hmm, when was the last time I wore this? So now I am wearing it – thanks AnnieA! 😀
🙂
In two very different Nishanes today – Hundred Silent Ways and Wulong Cha. HSW is a creamy, heady mix of vanilla, gardenia, and some orris upfront, with sandalwood, vetiver and some cocoa-covered almonds in the back. WC is a blast of juicy, refreshing citrus peel, fresh tea leaves, and a trace of fancy bar soap. They don’t work together, but they contrast each other quite nicely when I go back and forth between them.
Tea today is chocolate puer because I had an early call — I needed the caffeine and wanted the chocolate.
I don’t see why you should get up for the call if there is no chocolate 🙂
It’s about an hour till sunrise but looking like it will be a damp day. I put the heater on as it’s chilly . I looked for my bottle of By the Heatpump to match the conditions but it doesn’t exist so settled on By the Fireplace. In the real world there would be By the Boiler, By the Heatpump, and By the Three-Bar Heater but this, being perfume land, the mundane is invisible. Might spray By the Supermarket later, or not.
Cold and damp here too, put on the gas fireplace this morning. No smell so Diptyque Feu de Bois candle is required for ambiance.
I had to turn the heat back ON this morning here since the weather can’t decide what it wants to be. Definitely cool and clammy feeling indoors. Not good!
By the Supermarket 🤣
Also love By the Supermarket and hope it comes in 30 ml!🤣
And a coupon!
SOTD = Sonoma Scent Studio Forest Walk
… because Deva wore it yesterday and I love it so.

I’m with the CP from a purely visual standpoint – Adulthood No.8 – as I see some green sections.
The NY Times reported that 60% of the U.S. population has been infected by some form of COVID-19 although a lot of extrapolation was utilized.
Love the colors in your pic of the day!
Now that is the perfect match with the name!
Hey you know what the cp picture reminds me of? The limited edition Orange Sanguine bottle. Lol.
I’m joining LTSG in 31 Rue Cambon, a decant from a lovely NST perfumista. Some days this one is exactly right!
Yay for the right perfume on the right day!
It was l’Occitane Osmanthus today, I love it but the longevity is disappointing, I have to drench myself in it, this evening it’s the turn of Balmain Ecstatic Intense Gold which is so long lasting in comparison.
It’s a shame that your osmanthus perfume doesn’t want to stick around. But some notes are like that; gone in a flash.
It contains real osmanthus too, such a pretty scent but my bottle is already one third gone, I will thunk it during the summer.
Another sunny autumn morning here, I can’t believe what a great run of autumn weather we’ve had over the last few weeks. It’s definitely getting colder, but we’ve not had the more usual wind and wet.
I’m in the mood for spicy, so I’ll wear ELdO’s Spice Must Flow.
Not fair, since we are having such a total crap spring!!
Oscar de la Renta Esprit d’Oscar
Hello there, fragrant friends! I have missed you all. Life has been crazy for me – weird work transition stuff, lots of visits from family and friends, and then my husbands grandmother is quite sick. So the past few months have been a lot. I have been smelling great during it all but have just not reported on it. 🙂
Today we had an employee appreciation picnic day and I am in many, may sprays of BB Beach. It was nice and warm today. I’ve been making a effort to put a dent in my decants since I’ve noticed some evaporation.
Hope you all are well; I’ll scroll through and read comments to see if I can catch up!
I have been following your stories but missed you here nontheless. Sorry about your husband’s grandmother. I hope whatever is ailing her resolves.
Glad to see you here! Sounds like you have had a lot on your plate to deal with as of late.
Hello, welcome back
Nice to see you!
KellyC!😀
A chilly and windy day today, so I stayed inside and did another big load of laundry.
SOTD = back in Patou Colony Heritage Collection EdP. For a light scent, it seems to have more presence in cooler weather like today’s, rather than warmer weather. Will have to try this in warm/hot weather to confirm my observations…
I always end up not remembering to wear it in different weather.
Sometimes I have the presence of mind to make a note to try in different weather. But that is not a given, ha!
Laundry twins again! It just never ends.
No, it doesn’t! 😭
Yesterday I wore some light sprays of a somewhat unidentified scent that was a GwP from Aqua di Parma, perhaps a magnolia or cherry blossom one? It’s light and pretty and I wore it to go visit my somewhat flirtatious surgeon (he is that but in a harmless way). My leg X-rays were good and I’m healing well but he says I must aim to do 100 standing leg lifts and 50 leg lifts from a horizontal position daily if I hope to recover and walk normally. 🙁 I told my physical therapist today and she responded bypassing me to do 50 and 30 respectively. Now my leg is just killing me. Wine time. I wore Fleur de Lian by L’Artisan today and basically hated it. I think it even made me sneeze. A green and melon smell that I wonder why I ever purchased? Ick. Well, things can only go up from here. And at least our weather is just gorgeous this afternoon–sunny but not too warm or too humid.
Oooof, leg lifts! Those are tough. Good luck with your PT journey.
I’ve had a couple of perfume purchases that went from love/strong like to hate, too. It’s a bummer!
I’ve been back to work (from home) after three days. It’s definitely taken me all day to feel like I’m getting in the groove again, but I do love that the weekend already feels just around the corner. Wearing Iris Ukiyoe since I’ll be getting a travel spray in a swap soon. I now feel like I can spritz with abandon using my 4ml mini.
Yep, you’re almost done with your work week!
Wearing vintage Diorissimo today. It was great to bring this out for a spin as it’s been awhile.
Early spring is a wonderful time for vintage Diorissimo.
I wore Shalimar Souffle Intense today. Someone yesterday I think mentioned easy to wear perfume. This is one of those for me. I had a busy day off with errands and appointments.
Hope that your appointments went well today.
