Off-White Paperwork Solution ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 22 April 2022 5 Comments

Virgil Abloh’s Off-White brand has launched Paperwork, a new beauty line including four unisex fragrances: Solution No. 1, Solution No. 2, Solution No. 3 and Solution No. 4. Abloh reportedly worked on the fragrances before his death in 2021.

Solution No. 1 ~ Woody / earthy. "Solution 1 offers perfumer Alexis Dadier's interpretation of the scent of sand as it travels on the wind. Standing as an allegory for Off-White itself, this seashore inspiration symbolises both elements' connection to global travel and cultures worldwide. Topped with sharp bergamot and clary sage, the sand accord heart is enriched with a patchouli and vetiver signature at the base." Additional notes include seaweed accord and sandalwood.

Solution No. 2 ~ Citrus; perfumer Jérôme Epinette. "Described as 'a joyful fragrance with a fresh and energetic hook', Solution 2 from Off-White Beauty delivers a contrast of freshness and woodiness. Accentuated by ginger zest notes, the scent travels through coriander at the heart before being rounded out with a musky cedarwood base to encapsulate the brand's signature 'unexpected' identity." Additional notes include bergamot, tangerine leaves, lemon, orange blossom, jasmine, lavender, vetiver and amber.

Solution No. 3 ~ Floral; perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur. "Off-White Beauty’s Solution 3 eau de parfum is defined by its floral scent. While an abundance of rose absolute brings the 'timeless' appeal that inspired the fragrance, top notes of blackcurrant and pink peppercorns bring the contrast alongside a base of musk and ambrette to take it back to the central flower's intensity." Additional notes include pear and ambroxan.

Solution No. 4 ~ Woody. "'A fragrance with a streetwear chic spirit', Solution No. 4 eau de parfum from Off-White Beauty is defined by a contrast between freshness and warm woodiness. It's based on perfumer Jerome Epinette's sense of nature enveloping the urban, represented by eucalyptus and lavender at the top and heart, before meeting the city in black leather notes at the base." Additional notes include fig, black tea, violet, tobacco, juniper berry, bamboo, vetiver, papyrus, sandalwood, palo santo and tonka bean.

Off-White Paperwork Solution No. 1, Solution No. 2, Solution No. 3 and Solution No. 4 are $185 each for 100 ml at Farfetch.

Don’t think I will ever get to sniff in person, but #2 & #4 are the ones I am curious about. Not a fan of the packaging.

The packaging is distinctive…and the cap made me laugh, that’s a bonus for me.

I’ll never smell them but I’m most drawn to Solution 2. Ginger, coriander, cedar and Jerome Epinette sound like a good combination.

That was my first choice too. #3 had me going until pear and ambroxan.
