Good morning NST and happy weekend. I’m wearing a unicorn today, Bond 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory, one of my all time favorite incense perfumes, long discontinued. I stumbled upon a partial bottle in a local fluke and I’m thrilled to have it, it smells so good.

A while back, I had a co-worker who was adamant about him being called “Jeffrey” and not Jeff, to the point where he was rude on a call telling someone not to call him Jeff. So, as a semi-sensitive person, I asked one of my office mates if he preferred to be called Patrick or Pat. His response, “Neither. My name is Paul.” ???
I suppose Iris Ganache is a unicorn as it is discontinued although Guerlain revives older perfumes.

Since it’s Unicorn Day, I thought of using my last few drops of Seve Exquise, but then I decided that I’ll need something a little more heavy-hitting to fortify myself for a long Zoom workshop. Perhaps Jungle L’Elephant — that always makes me feel strong and steady.

Almost all my scents are packed away for the move but I kept some out for my week of French houses. Today I’m in another one of them, Boucheron Pour Homme EDP, a fresh citrus cologne fused with a deep, mysterious chypre.
When is moving day?
They’re coming by on Thursday. We’ve been carefully packing some things, and taking others to the new place by ourselves because I don’t really the movers with breakables, but I predict that on Wednesday it will be just chucking things randomly into boxes, to be dealt with later.
They say that moving is one of the most stressful things you can experience, up there with divorce and a death in the family, and I would have to agree with that. I wish I could snap my fingers and have it all over with. And we’re moving a twelve-minute walk from our old place! How much worse it would be to move halfway across the country.
I can testify to your statement about moving.
2016:
My Mother passed away.
My Mom’s crazy husband passed away.
I had to deal with the process of sorting out two estates(lawyers et al present,but basically on my own)
I had to sell the farm and house
I had to move from farm to city
I had to euthanise one of two twin sharpei-dogs because she developed cancer that spread through the “milk-line”
I had to give the other sharpei away to a friend for adoption.She was already old as well,and finding a suitable apartment with garden was impossible back then
I had to put 99% of belongings into storage,move to apartment,settle in basically a new unknown to me part of the city
My point:2016 was my annus horribilus,2020 was NOOOTHING,and you have my total sympathy!!

Unicorn day. Ironic, I picked one of my unicorns when I got out of the shower.
I’m in Art Meets Art’s Like a Virgin LE by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin with notes of Moroccan orange blossom, milk and vanilla. It’s yummy. I know Seville a l’Aube is considered the OG orange blossom, but that one didn’t work for me. All I got was corn tortillas. This is more like an orange pez smell to my nose. I love it.
I first tried this whole line about 4 years ago and this one in particular was the stand out. I kind of forgot about it and then realized the entire line had been discontinued so of course I was on a mission to hunt down a remaining bottle. I found them on some European sites but none in the US. Then one day last November a bottle showed up on the Saks site. I snapped it up! For some reason I haven’t felt like wearing it until today. But today I got up to blue skies, sun and warming temps. It just felt right.?

Another beautiful sunny day. I ran some errands in the morning, grabbed a cheeseburger and iced coffee from McDonald’s and went to eat in the park. I also got few packages of the the new coffee Peeps! Oh boy, they are really good! I am having a couple of them now with unsweetened almond milk. Delish!
Walking around my neighborhood was really nice this morning. Flowers everywhere. Very uplifting!

The opening is buttery, carroty, then it becomes sweet and floral and it stays like that until the end. The orris note stays in the background after the opening stage. Longevity is pretty good on me, around 6 to 8 hours. It is a very charming and cheerful.

I polished off my sample of Les Indemodables Iris Perle this morning about an hour ago and I can barely smell it now. Money saved! I’m making spicy marinara sauce right now because it’s fried calamari for dinner tonight.

Commando except for Love and Plums body yogurt. I thought I’d decided on a Cloon Keen fragrance, but when I stopped in yesterday I discovered that they have a new release, Énbarr. It’s and oud; smells wonderful on a card, and I’ll try it on skin next week.
We got a bonus bag of wild garlic this morning at our favorite produce stand (at the Galway Saturday market); either that means that we are recognized as regulars, or that the vendor had a lot of it on hand. Whatever the case, Mr. Skal made a super-yummy pesto with it, which we had on tagliatelle. And the weather turned for the better, cool but sunny today, after yesterday’s wind, rain, sleet, and hail.
I have such fond memories from my trip to Galway. It was magical ❤️

Yesterday got totally away from me. Did I even wear perfume? Yes – one of DSH’s one off UPCYCL series in November Spice (it’s still chilly here). Today I started with a Fragonard Belle de Paris towelette sample (I ordered a couple of things from them a few months ago and am now on the mailing list – 3 towelette samples in each so far). Belle de Paris is kind of old school, powdery makeup iris/incense, but soft and pleasant. I love the bottles, but probably not going to get me to spend $60.
Oh,I tested this one in haste when I was at the perfumerie in Johannesburg and bought Fleur de la Passion.I should revisit!
I’m home now! With happy cats! It’s nice to be on my own in a quiet place and to sleep in my own bed at night. Negotiating stairs is a bit nerve-racking, but I’m being very careful! Plus my new Apple Watch has the SOS feature for falls.
Recently I got the Patchouli packet of new or recent samples from Luckyscent and am working through them. Did anyone else get it? A few have been nice enough and interesting but one rocked my world yesterday! It’s Raw Gold from Thomas de Monaco. Whoa! First thing to know is that patchouli isn’t the star. It’s a deep dark delicious blend of patch + plum + liqueur and then after awhile some very dirty civet. I’m not up to hosting a split any time soon but I’d go in on one of this beauty in a flash! Has anyone else tried it?

Yesterday was my birthday, but I was feeling exhausted and headachey so I’m calling today as a do-over. Wearing Hendley Cola, which is very incensey, huddled by the fire as it is snowing and the power has been out for three hours. Hunkered down with goodies from the bakery and take out Indian food bought yesterday.

I’ve been trying some Annick Goutal samples I got with a recent purchase. Le Chevrefeuille was nice but I could barely smell it despite 4-5 sprays. Rose Pompon EdP was a sweet, happy rose with good lasting power; would consider buying if it weren’t so expensive. Today it’s Eau d’Hadrien EdP, also very faint, but I love a good citrus.
It’s finally a little warm here today, and on my walk I saw some daffodils blooming! No tulips yet, but they’re coming up. Also saw a couple of crocuses, and a mourning dove eating at a bird feeder.
Mourning doves show up in my area in late winter and are gone by the time things start blooming. Maybe they headed out towards you?

I’m wearing Hiris today, about 12 sprays. It was my Unicorn bottle that I rescued after kicking myself for not picking it up on a trip to Florida. Thankfully it was still there, exactly where it had been left the last time I saw it.
And I’d like to think my sister would also wear it too. She likes iris scents (La Pausa, Iris 39) but weirdly didn’t like the carrot seed oil that I can’t get enough of. She mentioned that she does dislike coriander (the herb, as in guacamole) whereas I love it so maybe that is the explanation? Who knows!?

Wearing one of my Unicorns a day late: Opium Eau d’Orient Orchidee de Chine EdT. Very pretty floral notes open this one, with some of the familiar OG Opium base notes following the flowers. Definitely lighter than its perfume parent.
I’m looking forward to seeing what this one is like in the summer!
