Happy Almost-Friday and happy National No Housework Day! It's also World Health Day (the theme for 2022: “our planet, our health”) and Billie Holiday’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Lilas de Minuit {Midnight Lilac} for the song Jacques Brel song My Death / La Mort.
Reminder: 4/8 is Jacques Brel’s birthday. If you like, tell us about a favorite Jacques Brel song and wear the fragrance to match. If you don't like, wear whatever you want.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Bonus watch / listen: David Bowie does a (long) live version of My Death at the GQ Awards in 1997, or listen to the Elly Stone version from Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.

French houses, day 4: Caron Parfum Sacré, very much in the mold of the late-eighties/early-nineties floral orientals, rich and spicy. The thing that keeps me from loving it madly is a sourish quality in the middle that just doesn’t belong, but it’s awfully good otherwise.
I do miss old Caron! Should have bought a few before they went downhill.
Yeah, i wish I had a handful, too. My only bottle is Coup de Fouet, maybe 15 years old, which is gorgeous but I bet the vintage is even better, and I ought to have gotten some Yatagan and Nuit de Noel at the very least. Too soon old, too late smart.
Which ones did you like?
Of the very old classics, I would love to have little (vintage!) bottles of Tabac Blond and Bellodgia, and I have a soft spot for Alpona even if it is not their best, and even though Narcisse Noir does not really suit me it would be nice to have a little bottle of that too.
The men’s were also fantastic: Caron Pour Un Homme, L’Anarchiste.
Thanks!
My older bottle was heaven. I can’t do the new.
The current Yatagan is not good?
I don’t know if you were asking me or pyramus, but my answer is I don’t know. It’s much newer so you’d think it would be less changed, but it couldn’t be exactly the same even from when Kevin reviewed it…oakmoss, among others.
I appreciate input from anyone who has smelled it. I had a small sample of it and have been considering getting more, but 100mLs of disappointment is something I do not need in my perfume wardrobe.
I literally cried when the very vintage small decant of Parfum Sacree was gone!
I am wearing Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and drinking a cup of White Sage & Wild Mint tea.
Your fragrance and your tea sound very uplifting
I had another twofer today, and thunked a sample of Macaque from a Zoologist discovery set.
Yay!
Good morning.
Lush day 2. Sotd is Rose Jam.
Haven’t been to Lush in a while, bet they have some fun Easter things on sale right now.
Currently drinking rose latte to match. ?
I was there a couple weeks ago, and they do have lots of fun things, and my store was letting customers touch things again (last time I was there, you couldn’t touch anything which made it hard to smell them).
They have Mother’s Day stuff online!
Yesterday was a very laid back non-irritating day. I surfed the web, filled up many on-line carts, and then emptied them. I guess this is the new way of window shopping. Made some lists, did some route planning and smelled terrific all day in Shalimar MVP. Decided to go for that same kind of mood today, so I pressed repeat on my bottle of MVP.
If I’m feeling really energetic, I may do some laundry and get my sat phone set up. Other wise, I will be doing more window shopping, playing Candy Crush (level 1314!) and otherwise being non-productive. Well, that’s not completely true. I just made some steaming hot coffee and next will whip up a spinach omelette. That’s being productive in the best way. You know who is under the covers with one eye strategically placed so as to watch every move I make.
Hope everyone else has a similar non-irritating day!
Enjoy your day Deva!
I do window shopping too.
The other day I accidentally clicked on a 3000 dollar jumpsuit from Saks. Now they keep sending me reminders to buy it. I might as well pick out some matching shoes. Lol!
And a nice bag to complete the ensemble! ?
Only 3,000? I highly recommend to add one more to your shopping cart. And as Deva said, please add matching bags! ??
Well, why not? Shoes make or break an ensemble, after all!
Level 1314! I have been stuck in 240 for more than a week and I am getting desperate already! Shame on me! Lol!
Don’t give up and don’t give in. I think the program is designed to take pity on you after X amount of failures. I was stuck on one level for more than a month. Ran across a co-worker who said she had to stop playing because she was actually BUYING help to get her through the levels. No, no, no! ?
Paying! No way! ?
Glad to hear that yesterday was a good day after the roller coaster you experienced earlier this week.
Happy Birthday Billy Holiday
Listening to Good Morning heartache by Holiday and sipping Violet Elderberry Black Tea from August Uncommon. I am sampling these tea after receiving this gift for my birthday last month.
Another gray day here in the big apple.
Chanel 1957 again.
Your tea sounds delightful!
I have been interested in 1957 lately. I need to find my decant. Just what I need, another expensive Chanel perfume on my wish list! ?
Do you go through ups and downs with Chanel? Lately, Every time I reach for my No22 I could so put off by it. And I used to adore this fragrance but now there’s some thing about it that really bothers me and I don’t know why.
I feel that way about Coromandel, I just can’t wear it any more.
It’s so frustrating when the nose ? just changes on us.
No 22 was never a love for me. I do like it but need to be in the mood to wear it. I have a few vintage minis but rarely wear it. The same for Coromandel for cazaubon. It’s more of a summer night time frag for me cause I get more incense/cola. Tastes do change. Even from season to season. Maybe hold onto it for another season and try again?
Yes, I will hold on to it for now. See how I feel maybe this coming fall
That tea sounds wonderful.
I’m wearing Mugler Iced Star from a sample today. It smells very similar to the 2019 Eau Crossiere so money saved for me.
Both of my parents came to visit me in my dreams last night. Unfortunately they came in disguise so by time I figured out it was them I was starting to wake up. I remember saying Daddy? wait wait. So now I am a big bowl of mush trying to piece the dream together and get the message.
I bet they were swinging by just to remind you they are still loving you 24/7, only from a distance! ?
They both love you and will always be next to you. I feel the same about my dad!
I agree!
I agree with Deva and pl67! They dropped by to give you a hug and encouragement. I’ve written down my dad dreams so I can go back later and remember. ?
I lost dear parents in 2019, and have had some comforting dreams since then. I hope you remember about the disguises; that was an interesting aspect of your dream about their love for you.
That’s a special thing, lillyjo. Even though it is difficult when you can’t remember it all, they are here for you.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww. I used to dream a lot about my Dad after he passed away. We’d usually end up in a restaurant or diner having coffee and talking about life stuff.
ITA that your folks were stopping in to say “Hey”.
No perfume yet but I’m leaning towards Zoologist Civet for another chilly, rainy day.
Civet would knock some sense into the weather.
How dirty is this baby?
Here’s the notes: Top Notes: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Lemon, Orange, Spices, Tarragon
Heart Notes: Carnation, Frangipani, Heliotrope, Hyacinth, Linden-blossom, Tuberose, Ylang
Base Notes: Balsams, Civet*, Coffee, Incense, Labdanum, Musks*, Oakmoss, Resins, Russian Leather*, Vanilla, Vetiver, Woods.
It’s blended well and not much stands out to me except coffee and spicy florals. It has nice sillage and lasts for 8+ hours on me. The musk notes are furry smelling but not especially naughty. Hope this helps a little!
That helps a lot! I think I’ll try a sample. And Cow.
I have a sample of Cow and I love it, I think a travel bottle is in my future.
My Old Navy credit card sent me an email last night saying that Synchrony won’t be issuing that card come June. The new owner of the Old Navy credit card will be Barclay’s. But who knows if they will be keeping my card open. Granted it is only a $200 limit (no balance), I would rather keep the card. Used the $22 USD rewards in case they closed the card. Wearing no 19 today. Just need something with a little extra backbone today.
No 19 always makes me feel like a Real Person, too.
Smart thinking. Use the points. Ulta is telling me I only have a certain amount of time to use up mine.
Not happy.
In TM Alien.
Any recs for a jasmine centered perfume, similar to A la Nuit?
Another cloudy day followed by heavy rain this afternoon into late this evening. I can barely keep my eyes open. Having my third cup of coffee and counting the hours to be out of here. Looking forward to the weekend.
Happy almost Friday! ☕️
Maybe Rogue Jasmin Antique? I prefer it to A la Nuit because the SL doesn’t last on me. The rogue is similarly indolic, at least to my nose.
I immediately thought of the Rogue jasmine, too. It’s a big, rich jasmine; I handed it off to another NSTer because it was too much for me.
I agree. It’s a beautiful perfume but you have really love jasmin to wear it.
You smell wonderful; I need to give Alien a wear soon.
Lush Lust is a good cheap option
Norma Kamali’s Jazmin. Very indolic.
I’ll think of others I don’t like.?
Is SL Sarrasins an option? To me it is a scent cousin to A la Nuit.
All of my students are acting today, so I’m having loads of fun.
I’m wearing Romance Parfum. I give it a solid “nice”, but that’s it.
Has anyone tried the Tom Ford Tubereuse Nue? A travel spray worked its way into my Sephora cart, but not into checkout…yet.
You smell great!
National No Housework Day, you say? Well, no problem here. I observe that day frequently.
I’m in Rose Amazone, from a Nordies sample that really needed to be used. Guess I’m on a rose jag this week. ?
Me, too!
I just have to tell you that I made chicken enchiladas today from scratch! ( I mean I bought the ingredients and put it all together.. I didn’t actually turn flour into a tortilla.. but still!)
They turned out pretty good! I didn’t know how to keep them folded so I baked them upside down. Lol.
Hey, congrats on your enchiladas! I’ve never made tortillas before either, and don’t really have any plans to try. There are too many options in the store!
National No Housework Day is one of my favorite Holidays! LOL
Hello fragrant friends! It’s gonna be a hot one here today. Most of my summer scents are still in the basement, so Solinotes Yuzu + Solinotes White Tea is my SOTD, seeing as they are accessible. Cheapies that do what it says on the label.
Went to NJ last weekend for MIL’s tombstone unveiling ceremony. It was touching. I wore No 5 Eau Premiere in MIL’s honor… No 5 was her signature scent. I sprayed a little on her tombstone; thought she might like that.
Then (flying is so fun!) we got stuck in NJ since our flight home was cancelled, then rescheduled with a middle-of-the-night stopover (ugh), then rescheduled to a more sane time, though we still had to get up at 5am eastern to catch that plane. Slept a lot yesterday. Might be nearly back to normal today.
Sorry I missed Lady D’s visit. Next time!
I’m glad the ceremony was nice. Sorry your trip back was so traumatic!
I must admit, I pine for your Lady D entries, pixel! But I will wait patiently until next quarter. ?
I am wearing my best blind buy ever! I’m wearing Iris Prima today and loving it. I found a small bottle for perfume math free so I pulled the trigger. What a beauty. It reminds of pink-toned, delicate, more refined Bottega Veneta.
Props to Gail for mentioning this scent as a favorite quite some time ago. It’s lovely!
Sorry Pixel… I didn’t mean to hijack your post.
This sounds lovely! Great buy
Wait, a *more* refined BV? I didn’t think that was possible. I need to try this.
Tastes are subjective but it’s a pink suede rice powder perfume for me. Very delicate and refined. I don’t sense any patch like BV which I also love.
Flying is awful, glad you made it with no stopover at least. It sounds like it was a touching ceremony.
I love that you brought her perfume. Glad you made it home.
Great idea with the perfume! I’m borrowing it when I visit my parents.
I have only flown once since 2019 and no plans to do that again!
It seems that now is an even worse time to fly than last year was, especially with all the cancellations that I hear about. Sorry to hear that you were impacted.
Spraying your MIL’s tombstone with perfume was a sweet gesture.
HdP 1804 today, which seems to suit my deep orange wool felt jacket and dark yellow silk scarf — as well as the brilliant sunshine that has alternated with cold rain and wind all day. Mr. Skal and I are attending a reading in a theater with an audience. Most people are masked — the theater cannot require it, but has encouraged it. Afterwards, there’s the possibility of wine and tapas (and oysters!) at a bistro near our apartment. Almost like the before times — except I think I appreciate it more.
Elegant-sounding outing…
Hope it was great fun, and I know what you mean about appreciating it more! Just a burger in a real restaurant feels like a luxury to me now.
Wearing MM L’Attesa on a sunny day.
Nice!
I’m still on my trip (Utah/Colorado) and hoping to visit Dawn at her Essence Studio this weekend. Returning to Seattle next week. I’m wearing Parfumerie Generale Bois Blond as it’s the only thing I brought, and it’s been perfect for the gorgeous red rocky hiking near Moab as well as now in Colorado.
Ooh, I hope you get to visit Dawn! Your vacation sounds wonderful.
Hoping that you make it to DSH!
So glad you’re enjoying your trip – have fun at DSH!
I hope that it works out to see Dawn. Sounds like you are having fun on your well deserved vacation!
Dawn of DSHPerfumes, that is.
SotD for the CP: EL Sensuous Noir. The name for me evokes the black and white videos and photos of M. Brel. Sensuous Noir itself is one that compels me but has never won my heart. If it reminds anyone of something else, chime in; also, if any fans, do tell what notes you get from it. I don’t get pine at all.
I remember liking it but it’s been so long I don’t remember it well, maybe there was plum?
I know I don’t get pine. I think I mostly get Lily.
I love the Sensuous Nude and have never sniffed the Noir.
I’m interested if someone could compare.
Did they get rid of the Sensuous line and its flankers?
I think so. I should check the discounters.
I couldn’t smell anything with EL Sensuous, Sensuous Nude, or Sensuous Noir! It was crazy!
I hear you – none of the three had the usual EL oomph to my nose, but are good in a soft way.
I knew there was “something” there, but I couldn’t detect anything. It was like trying to smell the perfume version of The Invisible Man.
https://youtu.be/0nr1X-ZHJFs
It was a day for Jean Patou Que Sais-Je, ambery and fruity . This evening it’s Jasmins Marzipane, one of the jasmins I like the best, very diffusive that one.
I too like Jasmine Marzipane. I have a BUB waiting to open. Went through a smaller bottle easily.
It’s so pretty, I was using my little 15ml so quick, I got a 30ml mostly full from eBay, I’m not sure if it’s discontinued now.
Oeillet Bengale. Wanted some spiciness. And it goes well with my lightweight yellow sweatshirt from WalMart and chiffon Ferragamo scarf. I get a kick out of dressing up tops from Target and Walmart with nice scarves. I have a teal Target sweatshirt I pair frequently with an Etro scarf.
And, forgot to say that I covet Bowie’s shirt. That color!
With the gold cuffs! I looked for a close up of the pants but if there was one, I missed it.
You smell amazing!
I love scarves with everything! And I have a big crush on yellow right now. Your outfit sounds great and so does your perfume.
super warm in Los Angeles today. I have tucked away my little heater and pulled out the fan.
Testing Libertine Smoked Bloom today. So far it’ a lovely soft apricot as if I were rubbing my fingers on the skin of the fruit.
That sounds wonderful! I love when perfume seems tactile.
Apricot is lovely. I can’t think of many perfumes with apricot in them.
I haven’t tried the apricot but I love their Eros Fig.
They are interesting scents
Love that description.
It was stormy and grey, so i thought Dryad would be a fitting choice, which was just right.
That was our weather too. Ugh I need some sun.
Back on the road in northern California, heading toward Olympia, WA. Wearing ALOF Paris – LA.
Get out of here before it gets too hot! Our high today is going to be 90F….
Good tunes to travel with?
No, just quiet. Not really a music person when I drive.
Welcome to Washington State! It’s a lovely 70 something today 🙂
It is a lovely day! Just getting through Portland now, will be in Olympia to sleep tonight.
The only Jacques Brel song I really know is “Ne me quitte pas” (like a lot of you, I think), but I was exposed to it in ninth grade French class, so I have a bit of a juvenile take on it. Specifically, I mostly remember giggling with my friends at “l’ombre…de ton ombre L’OMBRE…de ta main L’OMBRE…de ton chien.” (Why bring the dog into it?) So I don’t see how I’ll participate in the CP tomorrow. (I have since listened to the song a number of times, and it’s much more beautiful to me now in my dotage, but I can’t erase my earlier impressions of it.)
I’m in Safran Troublant today because someone mentioned it yesterday!
You smell great! I sometimes think of buying a bottle of ST.
I know they are not really the same, but I prefer Aznavour to Brel.
Do it!!! I’m not allowed to because I have a 5ml decant left and my husband dislikes the scent. (What’s to dislike?? What a weirdo.) But if a bottle fell into my lap, it would definitely get regular wear.
I have fond memories of Aznavour’s “Desormais,” which I first heard in the same French class 🙂 (our clever teacher was using French music to help us learn verb tenses)
I love Safran Troublant!
It’s such a pretty one 🙂 I will have Decisions to Make when I reach the bottom of this decant. (I think this is like my third? Yes, I should’ve just gone for the bottle years ago, husband’s distaste be damned!)
Trying out Chris Collins Danse Sauvage, which is supposed to evoke Josephine Baker – and start with fruit? But it’s a little dull for La Baker. I guess, if I think really hard, I get some rose and chili alongside the ubiquitous “oud” base.
These CC scents do have nice longevity!
I ordered CC Harlem Nights from the Sephora Sale!
I do love Billie Holiday.
Feeling anxious today for things real and imagined…but mostly real…I think… ? No perfume yet as I have a tough time choosing when anxious but going to put on something w/ vanilla (you might have guessed) to fortify myself for some work this afternoon.
I went w/ Dame Minty Man which is a mint gourmand, to my nose, and not really for men…talk amongst yourselves!
That sounds very nice. Hope you find some peace today.
I hope your day gets better and the anxious knot disappears.
Wishing you a much easier day.
I have also been feeling also restless (and lacking sleep) for no particular reason.
Hugs She-ra.
Oy! Hope your day got better!
I’m wearing Dilettante today after meridifay mentioned it earlier in the week.
Wanted to report back on Attitude hand soaps I bought after they were featured as a daily lemming.
https://nstperfume.com/2022/02/16/the-daily-lemming-1224/
They’re not bad soaps and feel pretty nice to suds up with, but I don’t particularly enjoy the scents so won’t repurchase. I bought the three pack of Olive Leaves, Lemon Leaves, and Orange Leaves. The Olive Leaves smells similar to Softsoap so was fairly meh. Lemon Leaves smells nicest but didn’t smell like lemon at all. Orange Leaves reminds me of orange scented cleaning products so is probably my least favorite.
In happier hand soap news, my Target order with a bunch of Mrs. Meyers and Method soaps arrived and all seem promising. I got two Method ones from the Fifty-Nine Parks collaboration that was featured here recently, Paradise Reef and Alpine Meadow, and both smell nice from sniffing in the bottle.
Thanks for the report. ? saved.
Favorite soap?
Some of my staples based on what’s available at my grocery store are Method French Lavender and Everyone Hand Soap Meyer Lemon + Mandarin. A nice splurge is Compagnie de Provence’s Liquid Marseille Soap. I have tried and loved their Fig.
And just realized you may have meant favorite soap out of the bunch I just bought? I’ll definitely report here as I use them. The Method Raspberry + Vanilla smells really fun.
I have been using Caress soap for years. That is my ride or die soap 😉 Just in case you are looking for a cheap as chips option.
Oh, thanks but I like liquid soap for hand soap. Maybe I’ll grab a bar of Caress to use in the shower soon though. I’m glad you’ve found one that works for you!
🙂
I recently picked up a new to me Mrs. Meyers hand soap for future use. I think that Mint will be a great pick for summer. Currently using Iowa Pine in the master bathroom.
Iowa Pine is my bathroom scent too although I have Lilac waiting in the wings.
I don’t recall seeing Lilac at the Target I picked the Mint up at. However, their selection was rather small. Maybe 4 or 5 different scents?
I usually order from Mrs Meyers when they send me a free shipping code and stock up on hand soaps.
I am obsessed with Iowa Pine ! My dish soap and my kitchen hand soap are of this scent.
I’ve not smelled either of those but they sound like good choices.
Thank you so much for the update, and sorry for the crap lemming!
Nothing to be sorry about! I still like trying different brands.
I’m wearing Oud 27 from a sample and thinking I might need more. Agarwood, cedarwood, patchouli–I smell good, I think.
You need more. Me, too. My decant broke.
Commando-but Sephora arrived and will try Rose Prick. And Indian Summer lipstick with my chocolate, for Deva.?
Thanks, everyone for listening to my rant yesterday and the hugs.

The family member who didn’t want me to travel with them(meet on the train) for the funeral, contacted me. The text was an outright blame for me not being in touch within 6 days.
I haven’t responded. His birthday is this week. In order not to hurt the grieving rest of the family, I thought about a Happy Birthday text and leave it at that.
Is the new train station in NY that challenging to navigate? Maybe I’m being too sensitive, as usual.
Keep the peace and not lose my cool or let loose?
Thoughts?
Sorry you are going through that. No, being a NYer I would say the train station is not that hard to navigate, if you are a NYer. But some people are really afraid of everything NYC.
I would say emotions around death/funeral services are a bit more tricky to navigate, so I would take the high road and keep the peace.
Just IMHO.
Enjoy your Sephora package and keep your head up!
He’s a NYer all his life. So, good to hear that excuse is just that. Takes the subway daily.
I can’t picture soothing his ego, though. Especially in light of the text.
A simple late night greeting?
Go Sephora! You have 2 new enabler pins. I bought a lip gloss, too.?
Which gloss?
Enabler ? for me
Ravish.
? ?
From which line?
Tom Ford. You got me hooked. I have no idea about the gloss.
Ooo! I love TF makeup
I’d say send a brief text on his B-day and keep contact minimal. Everyone is upset right now, and words could be misconstrued.
Ok. I was only thinking about texting briefly because of the immediate family’s loss.
I don’t want to get into a conversation.
Wiser minds than mine might have some input for this situation.
I like your advice!
Everyone here is very helpful. It is delicate because I don’t want to upset my cousins and aunt. There’s more I learned that really would cause hurt and I won’t do that.
Here is my thought… I would send a birthday card in the mail. This way you won’t be waiting for a reply text. Even though you don’t want to have a conversation, not knowing if you will get a reply might make you feel anxious ( it would me)
His birthday is Saturday. I wish I asked earlier, lillyjo! That would be perfect!
I am no good for advice. I have a trail of broken friendships. (Not really but my history is not good.)
I’ve had it both ways. It really would be good to always know the reason. He clearly does and is deflecting.
Its not like he gives a rat’s heiny or he would have welcomed his niece.
Celebrating Friday and my French perfume theme with Miss Dior. I bought it in 2010, so it’s probably getting vintage by now 🙂
Its probably been reformulated a zillion times so I think yours is vintage 😉
I’m dreaming of summer in DSH’s August Picnic. Per Dawn’s description: “Tart strawberries & rhubarb, homemade lemonade, green grass in the sunshine.” I love it.
That sounds great!
It is!
Oh that sounds nice.
I’m really enjoying it!
That description made my mouth water! ?
Exactly! I can’t wait for summer!
I had to get very early and make the commute into Ann Arbor today. I can’t believe I spent most of the last 10 years making that drive! So I broke my summer florals theme and wore Amber Oud. Now my work is done, my appt, with the audiologist is done- for anyone with hearing issues, don’t put it if, the new hearing aids are so worth it. Something I should have done 5 years ago. I have just had a nice chai, and now I am going home and have a nap.
Amber Oud is a favorite!
Terrific news on your hearing.
Does insurance cover hearing aids?
It depends. Mine covered getting them , but now I have to negotiate the tune ups and whatnot. My sister found high quality ones for a good price( still pretty high) at Costco of all places. It also depends if you can claim work related impact or not. Worth it to call you insurance company and see.
Thanks for the info! I will investigate further.
Trying Cherry Punk which smells a lot like Mac Ruby Woo to me. It reminded me of Lost Cherry with leather at first..then quickly turned into Ruby Woo.
Also trying Bubble by Der Duft. The opening makes me feel like the drunk girl at the party cause of the realistic Champagne/Chardonnay note. Then it quickly turns into a cassis rose thing..with some light woods. The opening was kinda fun while it lasted lol.
Finally, testing Laro Big Sur..which doesn’t smell like Big Sur at all lol. I get a eucalyptus mint vibe..which doesn’t smell like the area at all lol. Big Sur smells like seaweed sandy air redwoods and rain.
That’s a lot of testing!
Thanks for the reviews. Favorite?
Wearing VCA Bois d’Iris for the first time and am delighted by it. Unfortunatley, last night I started getting a tickle on one side of my nose and it keeps making me sneeze. So everytime I sniff my wrist, I either sneeze or feel like I’m about to!
Drinking chocolate chai on a very rainy day.
I gave some thought to hot chocolate with mini marshmallows earlier this afternoon. I’m still drinking tea, though.
My after dinner plan is to curl up on the couch with a blanket, a hot mug of chai latte, and the kitties to watch this week’s episode of Sanditon.
You smell great and I hope the nose tickle goes away quickly!
“A tout le monde
A tout mes amis
Je vous aime
Je dois partir…”
Megadeth lyrics by Dave Mustaine. I am aware that those words are considered controversial. However I feel that they suit the day and the cold rain that has been falling,
Someone I considered a friend died yesterday afternoon. She had been in the hospital for months, enduring multiple infections and multiple organ failures. Her spouse is heartbroken. The world is a little colder without her.
SOTD = Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa, from the sample stash, and one of you lovely people. I thought it might have a resemblance to ELdO’s 500 Years, It does, but not as close as I originally thought. Santal Pao Rosa is much drier than 500 Years and lacks the touches of leather and incense.
Oh Jalapeno I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs to you and her family.
Thank you lillyjo.
I’m so sorry about your friend, Jalapeno.
Thanks Gail.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Jalapeno. May her memory be a blessing. Sending hugs.
Thank you Holly.
My condolences, that’s sad news. Your perfume sounds really good.
Thanks ringthing.
Oh, Jalapeno, I am so sorry about your friend.
Thank you Vee.
I’m so sorry for your loss, jalapeño.
You do smell great in Santal Pao Rosa!
Thanks hajusuuri.
Glad that you weren’t out in the yucky weather! I bet NJT had all sorts of problems with the trains today.
So sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Hugs to you.
Thank you Petunia.
So sorry, Jalapeno. Another roller coaster for you.
Never sniffed your perfume, but the incense-y one sounds good, too!
Thank you AnniePerfumes.
Santal Pao Rosa is an almost Chanel-like Guerlain; it is dry and elegant to my nose. ELdO’s 500 Years is roses, incense, leather and woods with a touch of sweetness. Yay for perfume samples!
Aw, condolences to her spouse and of course to you. That’s so hard.
Thanks Robin. Those 2 people were a true love match, and knew how lucky they were to have each other. ?
My condolences to you and all who loved her.
I’m wearing La Pausa on a very warm day, and wow, the vetiver is so prominent that I keep thinking I’m catching a whiff of Sycamore. So fascinating. La Pausa has never been anything but iris-y to me when I’ve worn it at cooler times.
Wow, I found La Pausa and Sycomore to be very different when I had samples of those two. Curiouser and curiouser!
Interesting…I’ve found them to be very different but then again, I have never tried them side x side!
I’m so sorry for your loss, Jalapeno. May her memory be a blessing. Sending hugs.
Oops. Well, twice works!
And hugs are always welcome!
Wore ELDO’s Jasmin et Cigarette this morning. It’s pretty much gone, so I need to switch to something else.
It was sunny enough to get the deck washed down and fertilize the plants. Everything is starting to look green and healthy. We have new gardeners in the complex and they are doing a fantastic job!
I am envying your sunny weather! Yesterday and today were squishy and grey for me.
Ditto, plus howling winds for the last couple of hours and the occasional fog horn here. Dismal!
SOTD = Le Galion Iris
I’m doing Iris week! This is another good one – vegetal iris with an aldehylic musky galbanum greenness. ❤️
https://www.instagram.com/p/CcEXYCZu_dS/?utm_medium=copy_link
I’ll save my jokes for the weekend!
That’s such a pretty iris scent.
That’s a big honking owl!
Can’t wait.. I love jokes!
