Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Welcome to April and happy April Fools Day. Our community project for today: wear your most-fun-ever perfume. (This is a repeat from 2016.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Banane. When it fades later, I might layer on some Blackbird Y06-S, or maybe I'll switch to Demeter Beetroot.
Reminder: on 4/8, there will be a community project, and I will figure out what it will be by Monday!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: The Flying Carrot bath bomb ("Settle in for an uplifting and fruity ride with brightening carrot powder, uplifting lemon myrtle, and cleansing rosewood. Let this adventurous rabbit take flight and fizz around your tub in enchanting hues of orange") is $9.95 at Lush USA.
That rabbit is adorable. I didn’t remember mine until I’d been up for a bit.
I’m in Carnival Flower. Pixel called it this the other day, and I am shamelessly stealing the name. CP points for fun and points for my personal Vacation week of scents.
I’m off work today and woke before my alarm feeling so rested. What a great way to start the day. Headed downtown for my favorite chai and on the way home something bright was shining in my eyes, and then I realized, it’s the sun! It’s out!?
I have a fun day lined up. Was able to score a last minute haircut appointment due to a cancellation and then I’m meeting a friend for lunch. Can’t remember the last time I said that!
Happy Friday!?
Enjoy your ? chai
Have a great time!
Sounds like such a fun day, enjoy!!
Happy Fun Day for you! We have ? too and I feel the same way’
Whee! Happy Friday!!
Haircut plus hanging out with a friend for lunch = awesome!!
Rabbit rabbit rabbit!
I think last week I wore my most-fun-ever chypre, YSL Yvresse, so this week I’m in my most-fun-ever oriental, Todd Oldham, which I bought when it was launched and have never been without since. I’ve never understood why it wasn’t a sensation: maybe it was marketed badly? The packaging is playfully sophisticated and the scent is like a lighthearted, mass-market Serge Lutens, spiced sweetened fruit over a vanilla-tinged woody-ambery base. It’s just delightful. It never fails to put me in a cheerful mood.
Or maybe not enough name recognition when it launched?
I cannot ever remember rabbit!! I’m wearing SJP Covet- because the combination of lemon, lavender and chocolate is weirdly fun.
Yep, good call!
Nice idea, should have thought of this!
I agree, ‘weirdly fun’is an apt description for this scent. I love it and was also thinking of wearing it today.
? ? ?
Feeling a little under the weather this morning. I woke up and had a headache and felt very nauseous. So I’m taking it easy today. Haven’t picked my scent of the day yet but will report back later. First I need some tea..
Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks!
I think it’s a combination of not sleeping well and Thursday I had a stressful day and didn’t eat properly. Or, TMI, it’s just good old fashion hormones.
Went with Rose Prick for today
The cheeky name, the pink panther ? colored bottle, the jammy rose with something dark and bitter thrown in. It’s fun!
I hope you feel better soon, at least you smell fabulous and fun! That pink travel spray is really tempting!
Scent twins! Hope you are feeling better!
Hello twin! I am feeling better.
We smell great don’t we?!
Hope the tea and today’s scent helps!
I’m in Mémoire d’une Odeur, because I went looking for it in my decant box. It was between this and Dzing!, and I found it first. I think I chose it because so many people really don’t like it, but I really do. I bought decants of Memoire, Herbae, and Mal-Aime at the same time to fulfill a craving for herbs.
I have never smelled these..you are making me want to!
I liked that one, plus that gorgeous bottle!
Kerosene Black Vines today, it never fails to make me smile.
Woke up to snow covered everything this morning. The weather guy called it a “cruel, sick April Fool’s joke” ?
❄️! That is a cruel joke
2nd! You smell great ringthing.
Hi, ‘snow covered everything’ twin! ?
Wearing my fun scent in Byredo Pulp. Probably not my best choice as I am going to get my second booster today, but oh well?
I almost went with Byredo today
I tried to join you, but my husband was still sleeping, and I couldn’t find my decant in the dark. Maybe this evening!
That would be my choice if I had any…mine might be gone, or might just be missing.
Getting a shot almost calls for a fun perfume to make up for the poke.
House twin!
???
Liquides Imaginaires Ile Pourpre is my fun pick of the day.
Purple Island fantasy with purple figs and ginger shoots everywhere, throw in a bit of angelica and it’s a party for 1 on said island.
Definitely fun,but not my MOST fun, that will always go to Bendelirious,my bottle in use is “somewhere” but I did not have the capacity today to do a full-on search.
Happy Friyay and weekend!
XO’s
And a full-on search is not necessarily the-most-fun-ever 🙂
Pourpre is a fun word to say. Especially if you don’t speak French. Like me!?
???
Wearing the fun and cheerful Arielle Shoshana Saturday.
Happy April and happy Friday, everyone! ?
Good to see you PL67! I’ve been thinking of you and your mother a lot lately and hoping for the best for you all in the months ahead ❤️?
Thank you, DolceVita! ?
Twins!
Yay! We smell great! ?
You do smell very cheerful!
I hope you have a good weekend!
Thank you, Lillyjo!?
Hiya perfumelover67! We’re twins today too! Good to hear from you. I hope that your Mom and Yei are hanging in there.
??.
Thanks Jalapeno! Saturday is so bright and unusual. So much fun to wear it!
Mom and Yei are just… there. Looking forward to rest a bit this weekend! ?
Aw, I know exactly what you mean by “just… there”. Big hugs.
You smell delightful. Love Saturday!
Thank you, Sistine! ?
Happy Friday!
I’m in Jungle l’Elephant for CP. I knew I wanted something with a mango note, which I just find so fun. So that, plus the over the top spices and fun bottle just sealed it for me.
Great choice.
I’m impressed that you can pick out a mango note in The Elephant! I get spice, spice, spice, and more spice. Not that I mind!
Sotd is Dzing! I love everything Olivia Giacobetti has or will ever make and this one is particularly fun!
And I’m not a big bath or bath bomb person but the rabbit on a carrot boat drives me wild 🙂
Oh, good choice! I recently tried Dzing for the first time, and my original note was “probably not”, but the longer I wore it, the more I liked it.
I will join you in Dzing! allo. It never fails to delight me.
Rabbits indeed. We have one granddaughter turning 12 today and it feels like she just arrived!
That rabbit carrot boat is something.
I have two project offers as of this morning. Things are looking up!
That’s good news!
Very glad to hear your work prospects are looking up ?
Hi Twin! Congratulations on the work prospects.
Good news! And Happy Birthday to the granddaughter!
Great news on the prospective job offers!
Yay for project offers!
Woo hoo!
three project offers!!
Go apsara! That’s great news.
Scent twins! We smell good for sure
I agree that this is a great choice of a fun scent. I might have worn it had I been at home. Well done!
Dzing is such a great scent.
I ended up in more “frivolous” than fun in Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl. At first I thought it’s vetiver let it from being too sweet, but it pretty much smells like candy at this point. It’s better that I don’t really like this because I could never bring myself to buy those shoe bottles. My apologies to anyone who loves them!
I don’t love the bottles either.
Those bottles! I am also not a fan. I saw the shelf of them in a department store recently and spent maybe too much time just staring…that said, with Guerlain changing over so many of its bottles to a single design I do miss creativity and variety on some of the beauty counters… but these shoe bottles are no consolation ?
That’s a good point about creativity; though I never mind a simple bottle, I have sometimes been tempted by especially cute ones.
Forgot to rabbit, but it’s because I slept through the entire night for the first time in weeks and I was so surprised that everything else fell out of my brain! Earlier this week I wore Indochine for its fun banana-macadamia pancake vibe. But this morning I’m in Memo African Leather, because what’s more fun than a brand-new travel spray? ?
I have extras. You can have a set!
Ooh, thank you — much appreciated!
Oooooooooooh, YAY for a good night’s sleep!
Exactly! ?
Woke up earlier than normal due to having 2 appointments. Both got canceled. One didn’t call and rescheduled me without telling me and said that I missed that appointment. My response was how can I make a rescheduled appointment when I don’t know it’s been rescheduled. The other called and said that “something came up” and rescheduled that for next week. Both were doctors. Wearing CM Intense today.
That’s really awful. It shouldn’t happen. My aunt has been having similar issues with her doctor at a pain center in Ann Arbor–very unprofessional, all being blamed on a shortage of workers. I hope that you can get rescheduled in a timely way. Some of those appointments are quite important, I’m sure!
Dealing with 3 right now.
I ? one , so its all good, except I can’t make it that day.
The other is ok, because I dread testing.
The 3rd is the dentist. My teeth need help, but my mind does not need his secretary.?
That really stinks. I’m sorry you had to deal with that.
I’m still deciding which iris scent to wear as it’s my father-in-law’s birthday today.
It’s between Atelier Silver Iris and 4160 Tuesdays Both Sides of Clouds; I want a fun aspect to my choice but still be under the radar as there is a family get-together for dinner tonight. I don’t want to knock people over. None of the people attending are necessatily fragrance enthusiasts.
Happy Friday, everyone. I said my rabbit rabbit rabbit when I woke up at 1am, so I have an extra set available.
Hope it’s a wonderful dinner! Happy Birthday to your FIL!
Enjoy the dinner! You will smell great on either perfume!
I would go with Both Sides of Clouds!
Enjoy the family get-together and dinner. Happy Birthday wishes to your FIL!
Personally, I’d go for a perfume that wouldn’t compete with the food! ?
Both scents are gorgeous, you can’t go wrong. 🙂
I hope you have a great celebration!
Hello everyone and oh am I relieved this week is over (it’s evening here and I am VERY ready for it). I put on First this morning and it seemed so lush and rich and beautiful-I wish I could live up to that fragrance! Now for the evening I want something fun and do you know what, this is not something I ask of my perfumes-cheerful, yes, fresh, yes, big, small, glamorous, refined…but fun, nope, so I am looking forward to reading about everyone’s choices today. Good wishes to you all, and peace, and good health, and a break from everything you have to deal with ❤️
I think my perfume would have to be called “Bringing up the rear” .
Have a happy, relaxing weekend!
Forgot my rabbits. Twins today with PL67 in Saturday, which is definitely the most “fun” perfume I own.
I do have that rabbit bath bomb, though, upstairs in my closet, awaiting Ockeghem Tween’s Easter basket.
I have extra rabbits so you can have a set!
Thanks! 😀
Perfume triplets with you and PL67!
We smell wonderful!
Yes we do!
Still colder temperature, 7C but the sun is still shining with the clock forward night comes later.
Today I wore Amor Amor with its exhilarating citrus burst, in fact for me, all the Cacharel are fun, Noa fun-elegant, Anaïs Anaïs fun-floral, Eden fun-weird. This evening I’m wearing Dioressence, the potent version from a turquoise bottle.
Dinner is cauliflower cheese.
I had to look up the turquoise bottle. It’s fabulous! Is it from the 60’s?
Yes, Lillyjo, it’s the first version, 1969. Other later vintages can be a little wan, but this one, Eau parfumée is a powerhouse, I slightly prefer Miss Dior much easier to find good vintages of that one, but Dioressence is really elegant and original.
I love Amor Amor. I remember that Christopher Sheldrake is also a fan.
He described it as gustative
My goodness this is interesting to know, thank you. I have never even tried it,will remedy that as soon as I can.
There was a post on Bois de Jasmin that had a link to the Basenotes interview with a Christopher Sheldrake. I just checked it and the full Basenotes interview is no longer there but you can still see the first paragraph or two on Bois de Jasmin which mentions Amor Amor.
Oh and thank you for this too Kanuka-I look forward to reading what is still available.
I remembered it was loved by perfumers but didn’t know about CS, thank you Kanuka.
Thank you Aurora! I now have my perfume for this evening: Anaïs Anaïs. I have worn this for years but had forgotten about it! Hope you’re having a lovely evening too.
You will smell wonderful, it’s such a tender perfume.
I love both Amor Amor and cauliflower with cheese. 🙂
?Ah, it’s cauliflower season in the UK, it was very tasty.
Cauliflower cheese is the bomb!
In-season cauliflower is an underrated treat! Most of the cauliflower I see in the grocery stores now is in the Frozen Foods section, and has been riced.
Dang, forgot to rabbit again!
For fun, I’m wearing Kenzo Jungle l’Elephant because she always arrives with a (half drunk) bottle of wine, already slightly tipsy, and yells out- “Hey y’all, heeeeey!! Wheres the partway?!” as she stumbles through the door. Some find her obnoxious, but to me she’s endearing and sweet, with nary a mean bone in her body.
Gotta run! T-Rex is demanding her brekkie. I saved a bit of spinach and mushroom scramble for her. ?
I love your description of Jungle, it really made me smile ? today. Hugs to you and T-Rex??.
Hugs right back to you. Glad you are enjoying the company of humans in person a bit more lately! ??
You can have a set of my rabbits!
Thank you! You are my Official Rabbit Dealer it seems!
Robin, I took inspiration from you this morning after having too many ideas for the CP and having a hard time pinpointing what to wear. I saw today’s post and quickly changed gears to CSP Vanille Pineapple. It’s got the hit of tart pineapple up front and smells like a pineapple upside down cake to me, which reminded me it’s been WAY too long since I’ve eaten that cake. Now, a few hours later it mostly smells like the pineapple glaze of the cake and sticky toffee.
Yesterday was busy and I didn’t find time to comment but I wore the amazing Pulp. I think I’d like to never be without this, and I do wish I’d gone ahead and bought a bottle before all the price increases over the years. Oh well. I actually still am using the 15ml PR sample bottle that I’ve been working on for years. Someone swapped me for it from their Sniffapalooza gift bag back in the day.
So ready for the weekend!
I never warmed up to Pulp ??♀️.
Pulp was a strong contender for me today, but I couldn’t find it in The Sample Stash.
It would not surprise me if Vanille Pineapple was more fun than Vanille Banane…I should probably have layered Ananas Fizz over the VB and now surprised I have never tried that.
That does sound like a good combo.
Forgot my rabbits again! Then i decided on Dzing!, because it always reminds me of the circus – horse manure, leather, popcorn, vanilla. And fitting for this weather, we got snow today! Last week we had sun and 20C Celsius!
I was sick at home nearly all week, but mostly of a bad case of laryngitis, that made it nearly impossible to talk. So i spent the week channeling a Zen retreat, not speaking and doing a bit of sewing. Thankfully i did not feel sick, so it was quite relaxing.
Hope you are feeling better in time for the weekend.
Sometimes just being quiet for awhile has its benefits. Hope you’re back to normal soon.
You can have a set of my rabbits!
Hope your throat is better. A week of Zen retreat sounds calming.
I’m sorry you were sick, but your zen week sounds really lovely.
Love all the folks who wore Dzing! Perfect choice.
I started the fun in the shower with my Olay Strawberry Mint Whip Body Wash. Body wash mousse that is all lush creamy lather and dead-on fresh strawberry scent. Sadly, they seem to have discontinued this whipped mousse version.
Followed up with Twilly. It’s the bottle. I bought it for the fun little bottle with the tiny twilly strand. I’d love an actual twilly from Hermes. I think they are incredibly charming. But so very expensive for what they are. And, living where I live now, not something I can justify.
Twilly is also fun! I have a sample of that one and enjoy it immensely.
I rabbited and can’t believe it’s April.
Trying Sunset Hour today and am not impressed so far…will see how it wears. So far it’s sweet fruit and precious little else. 😉
April! Crazy, eh. I always feel sorry for the first months of the year as they pass by so quickly – like colognes . The later months , September , October, November seem to pass more slowly- parfum. Maybe it’s different up north.
I love your comparison of months to different concentrations of perfume. ?
I found Sunset Hour pleasant but unremarkable as well.
Yes, I think it’s the least interesting of the line perhaps. ehaeheh? Beautyhabit had a sniffing event and it was really the dud methinks. The line is nicely done overall but this is the weakest offering…I thought maybe it was my nose being overwhelmed but nope…it’s quite generic.
I tried it also today. I like it some for what it is but not memorable I think. I haven’t tried any else from the line.
It’s our last day of summer time and tomorrow the clocks flick back an hour so the mornings will be lighter. My bedside clock is so frustratingly complicated that I couldn’t be bothered changing the time when the clocks last changed so for the past six months I have been mentally adjusting the time in my head ( adding an hour). Tomorrow it will be correct. I think I really hate digital devices. Clocks and radio tuning especially. It was so much easier changing the dial on the radio manually than trying all that am/fm preset stuff. I listen to am radio as it’s better reception but when I drive out of town I have to change stations to either fm or another am otherwise the radio crackles every time I pass electric power poles. Electric fences in the countryside are another problem. Well, that was an odd tangent. I think of all my perfumes as fun as they take me places in my imagination so wearing Ambre des Merveilles which makes me thinks of travel and stars and journals and typewriters.
I have an electronic clock with a battery backup that doesn’t allow me to change the time AND it doesn’t know when to switch, if at all. So I do what you do and just mentally adjust – it’s right for 50% of the year ?.
You smell great. That is my favorite flanker of the group
Mr. Jalapeno will not change the clock in our truck for the same reason. It’s fiddly and not worth the aggro. So we make the mental adjustment too.
Same here with my car!
I do that too. It’s just not worth the effort.
Same with my digital bathroom clock – it’s right half the year. 😉
With the old dial car radios you were able to turn it in between stations to get the signal. I miss that.
Snow on the ground on April 1st? No kidding! Happy April Fool’s Day! But the day finally warmed up enough to melt the snow, the ? came out and life looks a little brighter, at least for now. Gloom and more rain for the rest of the week after today.
Undecided about a ‘fun’ fragrance for today, I looked at what I wore in 2016: L’Occitane Delice Des Fleurs aka Ladurée macarons. Well, what’s more fun than dessert? So I decided to stick with that theme and chose DKNY Sweet Delicious Creamy Meringue aka Lemon Meringue Pie as my SOTD. Its lemon is sweet and creamy custard, yet somehow fresh; nothing sour or sharp in this one, and I’m lovin’ it along with today’s welcome ☀️.
With Covid numbers at least for now quite low, we finally ventured forth into the universe a bit more this week and it was wonderful. Went to a Cello Meditation for Peace concert on Sunday that partially benefitted Ukraine. Went to an in-person yoga class Tuesday and finally met the teacher and others I’d been Zooming with for two years – absolutely delightful! I’ve missed ‘real’ people so much. Ate inside a restaurant twice this week – a first in two years – and will be celebrating a dear friend’s 83rd birthday this weekend with her and her daughter at her favorite Greek restaurant. I’m ? real hard life continues this way but right now I’m savoring each delicious moment!
Wishing many moments worth savoring for everyone this weekend! ?
L’Occitane Delice Des Fleurs aka Ladurée macarons! where can I find this scent 🙂
It’s been d/c for awhile, I don’t see it on eBay or Amazon. And I don’t have anything else that smells like this so I can’t offer any suggestions. ?
Your week sounds amazing. I echo your hopes that life will continue this way.
Forgot about the rabbits, forgot about April Fool’s day as well. Am a bit swamped at work, but as we are allowed to work at the office as much as we like, having chats with colleagues is a nice compensation.
My perfume is not funny, but definitely full of joy, Ostara, for my favourite flower. I still don’t understand why they discontinued this. It is so wearable.
Full of joy is enough, right? Glad you are enjoying being back to in-person work.
SOTD = TF Rose Prick
Scent twins with ltsg and smelling fabulous! Of course as I was leaving the building, I was behind 3 people, one of whom must have been wearing half a bottle of Angel ?. I don’t hate it but I don’t like it when oversprayed!
I reconnoitered the Macys Flower Show previously and knew it was not as elaborate as it used to be and my second look did not sway my opinion. I’ll post pictures later, maybe.
We had a thing blow up at work although I don’t yet know how it ended. There’s a pretty vocal group who was adamant about making the company face the music on the prescribed return to the office schedule (3x per week). As I mentioned to some of my office mates, I have not read “the policy” on this. What do I know except I pay attention. Anyway, the “leaders” of this vocal group decided they were going to conduct a survey. I don’t know how many people got the survey but there was a cascade of responses but the primary survey person was also immediately “asked to shut it down” with a very very very weak excuse given as a reason for the directive. On the other hand, the vocal group moved too quickly. If I were to advice them, I would have said to find a senior sponsor to advocate for the end result they are seeking. We’ll see how it goes on Monday!
Hey twin! We smell good (and fun) today
Indeed!
We had a bit of drama last week, too. Came on shift to find out the new locums hospitalist handed her pager/phone to the NP and walked out mid shift…! I will say, I feel bad because these hospitalists are so overworked and underpaid, but I think walking out mid shift may have some legal repercussions…?
What is a hospitalist?
Echoing the question — not familiar with this role…
A hospitalist is a general practitioner who is the hub in the wheel of care for hospitalized patients. Most family MD’s, InternalMed MD’s that work in offices no longer follow their patients when hospitalized. A Hospitalist has no office connections and just treats hospitalized patients. Usually, they have some kind of crazy schedule like on for one week, off for one week. They admit patients from the ER, Direct Admits, and round on patients already hospitalized.
Thanks. I believe now that I have met such people, but didn’t realize it was a named status.
Oh wow, not sure we have this in Canada / BC. Then again, I haven’t spent a lot of time in hospital, but the one time I did, the doctors from my GP’s practice followed me throughout.
I had one incredible hospitalist for my father. He was completely honest about the time my father had left. The rest must be with you! One even had my mother’s operation stopped, because I asked questions and wanted her heart doctor involved in the discussion.
Looks like it worked out for the best.
That’s even worse drama given that lives were at stake! I will say that the hospitalist should prevail if legal action is sprouts…they were better off walking away than inadvertently cause harm.
It was a long walk to the turnstiles.
Angel is one of the few scents I have encountered “In The Wild”, but thankfully never half a bottle of it in one go! Phew! ?
Ha! I responded to myself above ☺️. It was a bery long walk to the turnstiles.
So they don’t want to come back 3× a week and decided to survey the other employees?
They want full-time work from home; however, I do agree that more flexibility is called for.
I hope it works out for everyone.
I expect it will but who knows ??♀️
I hope the work blow up isn’t too stressful for you.
I made a good decision not to engage…I was just curious as to the extent an impassioned group will do and it looks like they were seen but not in a good way.
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/9SnxBvH-0Mc
???! I have an extra set, so if anyone forgot their rabbits, they can have mine.
Slept all right last night, so life is looking better today.
SOTD = Arielle Shoshanna Saturday, originally just called Arielle Shoshanna. Thanks to lillyjo, I have a travel spray of the original formulation. The sandalwood was extra yummy today for some reason. Greatly appreciated!
Yay for sleep! Double yay!
???!
You sent me down a Def Leppard rabbit hole. Check out their R&R hall of fame speech. It’s really touching. ( and funny)
I am still kicking myself for not getting a “Hysteria” T-shirt when I saw it at a local department store.
I remember voting for Def Leppard when they were eligible for the R&R Hall of Fame! I squeed like the fangirl I am when I heard they got in.
You smell great and you have several scent twins!
Thanks! I am pleasantly surprised that I was in the mood for something fun today. Figured I’d be grabbing more incense.
I’m wearing Chanel Paris-Deauville because I figure any trip out of Paris must be kind of fun….. Now I must look up where Deauville is, ha ha! I don’t have much choice with me where I’m staying now. I also realized that “fun” and “perfume” are not categories that mix well in my head. I mean, I know some perfumes are “serious” but I hadn’t thought things through that this would imply some others are “fun” or perhaps “frivolous.” “Casual” maybe, yes, but “fun”–Hmmm? Maybe I’m just not in a “fun” mood due to ongoing leg pain and a raft of inconveniences. I need to lighten up!
On that note, I will add that I’ve nearly binge-watched the whole of Season 2 of Bridgerton. It’s not getting the kind of attention or plaudits that Season 1 did but for some reason I’m liking it more. Maybe I’m more used to some of the stylistic excesses, but whereas reviews decry the lack of “hot sex” that Season 1 had (and that is true!), I find the romance here quite, well, hot–maybe because it’s all just so much delayed gratification, ha ha–I’ll say that without giving too much away, I hope. Or maybe because the heroine is more appealing to me (a very well-educated “spinster” at age 26–with a terrific wit and self-possession–impressive!).
My high school students are all devoted Bridgeton watchers (ack! Awkward!) and they all think this season is better than the first.
You smell elegantly divine!
Hey all! That rabbit and carrot bath bomb is adorable. It reminds me of Cake Wrecks, but without the weirdness!
I’m wearing Niki de Saint Phalle today, which is lots of fun for me and I haven’t worn it in ages. My bottle is pretty old, and I think it’s lost some of its notes, the ones I associate with the cobalt blue of the bottle, but that I can’t identify; something a little sour and fruity, a little plummy… dang! I wish I could tell what it was. Now it smells more like a regular chypre to me.
I meant to do some errands today (my day off), but haven’t left the house yet. How do you reconcile wanting to lounge and wanting to get stuff done at the same time?
Thanks for reminding me about Cake Wrecks! Some of them were LOL funny.
Yes, I love zany sites like that! So funny.
Oy, I know that feeling of wanting to chill out versus getting stuff done all too well.
Wouldn’t it be nice if it were possible to do both at once? Heaven.
I started off this morning in Marc Jacobs Dot as my fun perfume and as a tribute to my beloved heart dog Dot who passed away in 2018 – today is her birthday. After a shower my scent of the afternoon is Tauer L’Air du Désert Marocain, a dear old friend.
Lately I’ve been smelling so much chemical swill, perfumes loaded with ambroxan, ethyl maltol, iso-e super, all stuff that literally burns the inside of my nose. So glad to have a long-term collection of beautiful perfumes that are a joy to wear!
Aww… happy birthday to sweet Dot.
I am so with you on the chemical swill! I tried the new JhaG Magnolia something today. It started out promising and I so wanted to buy the travel spray. Ten minutes later I was left with ambroxan and nothing else. How is this even called perfume? It’s like a song composed by a computer and no instruments.
Thank you lillyjo, she was so precious to me. Love your comparison to computer generated music!
LAdDM is so good! It’s been a while since I’ve pulled out my Tauer samples.
It still smells fantastic. I have a bottle from his very first batch!
Wow, that must be incredible!
My LADDM is also from the very old original style bottle. It smells amazing! I’ve actually not sniffed a more recent version, but I am curious how they compare.
Happy birthday to Dot. And you smell divine in your Tauer.
Thank you sistine. We loved each other fiercely, she was my protector and friend.
Big hugs on Dot’s birthday!
Thank you! Hugs back to you and Yei.
Happy Birthday to Dot! I’ve had several dogs who were like soul mates to me; it’s so hard to lose them.
Thank you! Our dogs are so precious and hard to let go.
I’m with you on the barrage of perfumes that all smell so chemical,or ambroxan-overload!
I tested Paco Phantom(fun bottle) and YSL Libre the other day,and left with my only thought…”meh”….
I’m wearing Virgin Island Water, not a fun perfume in and of itself, but a reminder of fun times in the islands. Had med appts and the cardiologist wants me to wear a monitor, but the opthamologist says cataract surgery can wait! I was happy. Eyeballs make me squidgy (Sorry, eye nurses here! I don’t know how you do it.)
Whoo hoo for getting some good health news at a checkup!
As someone who has had eye surgery (with a scalpel, not a laser) I’m with you on the squidgy. But I know I will have it done some day.
?The eye nurse over here!!Haha!
Good luck with your surgery!
Cataract surgery is usually a fairly quick procedure, recovery should not take long either.Let me know if you have any questions, otherwise there are lots of youtube videos on how it’s done if you wanted to “see” beforehand!??
I wore Sofia Vergara Sofia today, because she is fun and funny ?
I took my daughter to Sephora today and bought her some makeup. We continued on to another store where she behaved extremely poorly so I went back to Sephora and returned everything. I just feel sad now.
Aw. Hugs lillyjo.
Big hugs.
Big hugs to you, it’s hard to be a mom.
Hugs!
Oh no! You are teaching her about accountability.
Sorry for the bad outing, lillyjo!
Well, hard as it is, you did the right thing. That’s not a good feeling situation for anyone, but valuable lessons were learned, I’m sure!
Got some samples from Luckyscent and trying them on…so far I like Seahorse and Sunset Hour. Lait de Chocolate is a nice, yummy chocolate note for a few seconds then just fades into warm, evaporated milk..not sure if I wanna smell like warm milk. Lol. Cow is a clean, green and musky scent to me. Too much white musk smell for me personally. But Seahorse is fun and the juice is colored blue so that is also fun. Sunset Hour is a fun, fruit cocktail.
Ew, warm milk is something I sure wouldn’t want to smell of/like.
Ew, I can’t believe you like Seahorse! I’m still smelling it in the package I got with other samples, and wondering why I haven’t thrown it (the envelope) away yet (Answer: it’s padded and works for now). Each to his/her own!
I like seahorses a lot so the name may have influenced me lol. But ya, I think it’s fun lol. I dnt normally go for aquatic scents but I guess for something different it works for me lol. Would I get an FB? Probably not. Bit I wouldn’t mind 5 or 10 mls of it.
I actually remembered to rabbit! It may be the first time ever. I wore Mojave Ghost today because it smells like alien shampoo and that’s super fun to me.
It does smell like alien shampoo. 🙂
I think it is the time! Yay you!?
Hope it’s a great month!
I just saw a pre-advertisement for Zoologist Scarab on Facebook and ran here to post about it! Release date this summer. Sounds like a Serge Lutens extravaganza, and the imagery is amazing for it, even by their standards.
Zoologist Sacred Scarab by Sultan Pasha.
Release date: tentatively mid Summer 2022.

Thanks! This sounds wonderful! They had me at civet.
Ooh, Sultan Pasha! This sounds great.
That’s the part that got me, too! ?
Rabbit-ed this morning.
Was in JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt early on as I wanted something to remind me of the shore (we had snow flurries).
Switched over to a tester of byKillian Angels share which reads slightly boozy spiced applesauce on me and I am not sure how I feel about it yet. It does remind me of fun times in the kitchen with my grandmother though.
