Happy Almost-Friday and happy Saint Patrick’s Day! Birthdays today: Penelope Lively, William Gibson, Nat King Cole, Alexander McQueen. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm (sadly) home from vacation. I'm taking points and facing a day of laundry, chores and errands in Gobin Daudé Sève Exquise.
Reminder: on 3/18 we're doing Green Friday...wear a green perfume (St. Patrick's Day is on Thursday so maybe wear 2 in a row? This is a repeat from 2014)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in the greenest thing I own, Yves Rocher Homme Nature, a leafy garden after the rain (and a reminder that inexpensive doesn’t have to mean cheap, and that YR used to make some top-notch fragrances). I usually save it for the first day of spring, but I’ve made an exception today.
And I wish they still did…
Debating between Chanel No. 19 and Dryad for CP points today! Whichever I don’t wear today will be SOTD tomorrow. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Old Herbaceous!
Whichever you choose, you will smell beautiful!
In No. 19 today, perfect for green week, being at work or, really, just about any time.
Which perfume did you pick?
I went with No. 19! I love it.
Welcome to today’s No. 19 Club!
I’m in Zoologist Musk Deer. This is the first and only Zoologist that I’ve tried. I may be the oddball out here, but those animal names just don’t appeal to me. Beaver? Chipmunk? No thank you. But that’s just me, I’m sure many love them, I’m clearly not their target audience. This one is lovely though, and I’m always on the lookout for a good musk.
I have been sleeping like @&$# this week! Tossing and turning for hours before I finally fall asleep, then in the most wonderful state of deep sleep when the alarm goes off. Tomorrow I am off and so is my teenager. I get to spend the whole day with BOTH my girls!? We have a true ladies day of shopping and lunch planned. When I was talking about it at dinner last night the response from my teenage daughter was, “if you two are going makeup shopping can you just drop me off at barnes and noble?” lol
Zoologist perfumes are all wildly different. I like enough to always want to sample new releases and I am a big fan of travel size bottles but most samples don’t turn into further purchases.
Your ladies day out sounds wonderful. I miss my daughter so much.
I’m sorry you miss your daughter ringthing?, hugs!
A girl after my own heart. 🙂 I prefer books to makeup as well. Have fun!
Thanks! She is such a book lover. The girls got gift cards for Christmas and they traded their Ulta cards (oldest) for their Barnes and Noble cards (youngest). Both were happy.?
Your day off sounds wonderful. Enjoy!
And agree about Zoologist. I might like the fragrances if I tried them, but they don’t draw me in.
Thanks!
I laughed when they came up with “Bat”. The laugh was then on me, as I kinda liked its fruit-in-a-cave vibe.
I like this one too.
Sounds like you and the girls had a wonderful day planned!
We do!?
Chanel 19 edt is my sotd, the perfume that feels most like me. Slow going today as I have been having trouble sleeping all week. Today I have a big outing for my mom planned so it’s time for some extra coffee.
Hand me a cuppa..
Sort of SOTD twins..
It seems to be bad sleep week! I’m planning on a nap later today.
I’m part of the club, too. I even had some nightmares earlier this week.
I’m wearing Gucci Envy for women, from a new decant. It is OK, and since it’s discontinued, just as well I don’t love it.
It’s nice not to adore something you have to pay vintage prices for!
Trying out Victoria Beckham eyeshadow today, see if it lives up to its hype. Cashmere sweater for this dreary day.
A venting post, non perfume related.
A close friend of mine lent me a book, a signed copy, that she loved and said she would read it again. While we were away on vacation I left the book in the room where my father in law is staying, on a high shelf. Last night, while I was staying at my dresser in my bedroom I realized that book mark I was using was there amongst my things. (this book is long 800 + pages, so I was sort of freaked out that I would have to find my place) Upon retrieving the book from its spot I realized it had been damaged. Like, damaged in a way that if I received a book I lent out back, I would be frustrated with that person. I am not sure what happened, and for the sake of peace and sanity, I will not ask my FIL what happened. This morning I have been calling around independent book stores to find a replacement signed copy. Good grief. I finally found one and they have it on hold for me. I know my friend would never ask me in a million years to replace the damaged book, but I don’t want to harbor bad feelings. I am thinking about writing her a card when I drop off the book but I am not sure what to say..
SOTD No 19 Poudre for the CP
You are a good person to replace the book (with signature!) and not question your FIL. All you can do is write an apologetic note and explain what happened, I’m sure she will understand and appreciate your efforts.
And next time, you will hide all valuables in very safe places. 🙂
Oh dear. I am so glad you managed to find a replacement.
Such a stickyicky situation, but I vote your idea is perfect – and I too am so happy that you found a replacement. Plus, you smell wonderful. Poudre did not get a lot of love when it came out, but I really enjoy it. I wore a generous spritzing last night while watching a show about pandas on “Nature.”
I dropped it off and she was beyond thankful. Friendship saved.
Nice job!
Perfumed high five for a win!
Bravo!!
Huzzah!
You went above and beyond. Glad everything worked out.
Woot woot!
Your plan sounds like the best way to handle it, and I agree with cazaubon that your friend is sure to understand the situation and appreciate your tracking down a replacement.
And I will suggest that if the damage was from liquid, you might want to check to see if someting is leaking on that shelf. (Like say an overwatered plant — just a random example that I pulled out of thin air for no particular reason at all…)
This is a good idea!
Or, God forbid, a ceiling leak.
Happy Saint Patrick’s day! ?
Wearing the beautiful green floral Gucci Envy. I am hoarding the less than half bottle that I have. It always puts a big smile on my face.
Happy Thursday! ☘️
You have the luck of the Irish with Envy! You smell brilliant!
Thank you, Lillyjo!??
Good to see you here today, PL67! How are your Mom and Yei doing?
Thank you, Jalapeno!
Yei is doing better. He has a follow-up vet’s appointment next week. Mom is getting worse. The months ahead will be very difficult. We can only surround her with love.
Sending you some great big hugs!
Thank you, Gail!
Hugs to you and your Mom. That’s a difficult situation to be in.
Thank you, Jalapeno!
Sending you and your mom love.
Thank you, Sistine!
Wearing no 19 edp. It’s definitely a green smelling perfume and the color of the juice is green too.
Yep, points for you Dawn!
Hi there Scent Twin!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I remembered to wear green (I usually forget) as I hastily got dressed for a 7:45 a.m. meeting with my boss, only to come downstairs and find out that he wanted to reschedule. Sigh.
I’m borrowing an idea from yesterday and trying out my sample of Hiram Green Lustre. I love rose and what little I can smell so far. It’s barely there, after having slathered it on from the sample. I’m not sure if it’s because it came from a dabber bottle, or I’ve had it a few years, or what. Oh well, that’ll be fine as I have a massage mid-day and should be relatively scent-free for that.
Wow, Lustre is quite potent on me. But I spray from a FB.
Yeah, it didn’t have any staying power, not sure why. I’ve switched to the other Hiram Green sample I have — Vivacious — post-massage, and it’s much stronger. However, it’s giving me strong Mr. Bubble vibes, so I’m hoping it settles a bit.
News flash: Canada has dropped testing requirement to re- enter the country! This is sooo good to hear, as we are heading back in 3 weeks.
Nice!!
Isn’t that great news?
Yes — seems too good to be true!
Hooray!
Happy St. Patrick’s day! I’m wearing Aura for the occasion.
Happy St. Pat’s cazaubon!
You smell wonderful!
Happy Saint Patrick’s day!
Sotd is Sisley’s Eau du Soir. Haven’t worn this in quite a while, I have forgotten how beautiful it is.
Yesterday I had my hair straightened. It’s been 10 years (!) since I had straight hair. I got to say I think it’s the right move. I love it.
So glad, enjoy your new hairstyle!!
Going for literally green juice today in Chanel Paris-Edimbourg. This was a blind buy last spring, and I’ve worn it quite a bit! It’s perfect in the gloomy weather we’re having today, but I also like it in the heat.
Anything to dispel the gloom!
Finally CP points for me, I’m in the green colored arbolé by Hiram Green. I love the color of this scent so much, but my older bottle is much less green now than when I first got it. Maybe due to the vanilla in this natural perfume.
I love Arbole. You smell great!
2x the green points for that one!
I’ve been slammed at work and couldn’t even post the last couple of days. Points today in Cartier L’Heure Fougueuse (IV). The smoothest green hay ever.
Every year I realize I have no green to wear despite my part Irish blood and I vow to find something. Sadly, this year is no different, but perfume counts, right?
Perfume definitely counts! I rely on my green eyes when I forget to wear green on this holiday. ?
“Not wearing green clothing” twins with you. Everything green I have is in the dirty wash right now.
Wearing La Peau Nue (Bare Skin, in English) from Céline’s Haute Parfumerie Collection. Beautiful. Rose, orris, and rice powder. Despite the last accord, it’s not especially powdery. Smells like a wonderfully luxe French soap.
That sounds so nice! It is very rose-y?
Went to the eye doctor yesterday and they are recommending cataract surgery so I am thinking about it. Apparently astigmatism can be corrected at the same time and I would love not to have to wear glasses all the time.
Today I am wearing my greenest scent, the mossy, mineral-y Chypre Mousse.
There have been times when I envy people getting cataract surgery. I spent most of my life without glasses, and I would love to go back to that. Although, it’s never good news to hear surgery is recommended, at least this seems to be something most folks have recovered from quite well.
Everyone I know who had cataract surgery is glad they did it. I’m looking forward to the day when mine are bad enough to fix, as I have bad astigmatism as well from a previous botched eye surgery.
My Mom had cataract surgery in her 80’s and came thru it with flying colors. She was really nervous about it beforehand.
I am so glad to see everyone’s comments about how well cataract surgery has gone. My optometrist informed that I will need it at some point in the next few years. But it’s my eyes, you know? I’ll be nervous, too.
Cataract surgery was a high point of 2021 for me, it’s been life changing in a good way.
Yay!
My grandma’s had multiple cataract surgeries at this point (she’s over 90!), and as much as she hates having surgery at her age, it always helps.
That’s good to hear.
Thanks for your replies, everyone!
My mom just had cataract surgery for both eyes (3 weeks apart), and she says the change is absolutely amazing. She’s thrilled with the results.
Went to spray SSS Forest Walk, but since I didn’t have my contacts in, I accidentally grabbed and spritzed Winter Woods. Oh well, a lot of deep dark colors that bear no resemblance to green in this one.
Didn’t even remember St Patrick’s Day until I read the heading of this post…My Irish half is quite disappointed in me. ☘️
Winter Woods is a powerhouse on me. I have to be very careful. Forest Walk sounds great.
All the talk of No. 19 Poudre and Synthetic Jungle made me remember Miller Harris La Feuille. A blind buy from TJX many moons ago, I remember wearing it a few times and thinking I smell like I’ve been working in my tomato patch. A good smell, but not my perfume style. However, today I find the rose and the other leaves are much more forward than the tomato leaf. I am really enjoying it but giving the side eye to the cedar which can spoil the party for me. In other news, we are having a beautiful day and I worked in my yard for the first time. In our climate Zone 6, I know all I can do is late Winter clean-up and admire my bulbs starting to come up. We have many freezing days ahead. I did over winter some lantana in my garage! So that was a win; surely it will make it now. Finally, you all smell wonderful – again, I did not know how many green loves I have!
Sounds maybe more my perfume style? But I would think I’ve tried it, and have just forgotten.
I think I have lots of bulbs up too and when the weather improves I will go out and do a survey 🙂
I planted bulbs for the first time this year, curious to see what if anything comes up!
One of these years I will get some bulbs to plan in the empty pots we have in the container garden.
Argh, that should be “plant”, not plan!
My bulbs are all well on their way at this point, but I think we’re Zone 8.
Thank you for the tomato leaf idea! That will make tomorrow easier — I totally have tomato leaf perfumes and didn’t think about it for “green” perfumes.
I chose Jour d’Hermes today. Took my car in for service, and am coveting the loaner they gave me. Smooth and zippy! But way out of my price range, so I’ll be sad when I hand it back to them.
I was coveting my rental too. I decided I will wash and detail my car instead. New car smell is the cheaper way to go. Lol.
Last Saturday, I chose the Uber ride home and back since the work was going to take 3 hours.
Turned out they have to keep my car overnight. So I have a really cool loaner car overnight! Too bad I don’t need to go anywhere — it has a heated steering wheel! So effing cool! ?
The fancy loner car is the best (worst?) advertisement for an upgrade. I dream of heated steering wheels.
Memo’s Irish Leather of course!
Brilliant — why didn’t I think of that?
To be honest, I felt just a little brilliant myself when I thought of it 😉 !
I don’t have that much “green” in my perfume collection–just Cristalle and some that sort of tilt green but aren’t technically green frags.
I think you won the week’s theme with that pick! ???
I’m a green girl from scent day one. My mom sold Avon, and my first personal scent was Somewhere. I graduated to Chanel No. 19, Ô de Lancôme, Diorissimo, Aliage and Le Temps d’une Fête.
I’ve expanded beyond green florals, but they’re still my first love. So today is Chamade EdT. I covet the extrait of this.
The snow in our back woods is melting, and spots of brown are appearing everywhere. I’d walk up the post office in this nice weather, but our driveway is unpaved, so I’m less excited about the muddiness.
You had some great green scents! I also had Chanel No. 19, O de Lancome and Diorissimo back in the early days.
Somewhere powder was also my first Avon item. My Mom didn’t sell it but she was a customer; I remember sitting at the kitchen table being able to pick something out. Maybe it was the green tin that got me! Good times back then, thanks for the memory!
Somewhere! I’m going to check my Avon “inventory” for that one. Psst: I love quite a few Avon scents. Timeless, Imperial Garden, Persian Wood: just to name a few scents that prove the mass market wants the good stuff when it gets a sniff!
Ooh, I bet you have some treasures in your “inventory”!
Oh yes indeed: Elusive, Bird of Paradise, Fantasque, Occur…so many lovely fragrances.
I think I still have Somewhere powder around. My mom kept it in her bath for hers…never using. I took it after she passed away. I’m pretty sure I moved it with me because it still retained scent.
I hope you can find it! I bet it smells wonderful.
Wearing Wrappings today. It feels like it’s back to winter again.
Double points!
Thanks Robin! I’ll take the double points.
Ooooooooooooooh, you smell Great! That is probably my favorite Clinique scent.
Thank you! It’s wafting nicely today! Glad I have my bub of this one.
Same! I was quite surprised in a bad way when Wrappings didn’t show up this year during the Xmas holidays.
I meant this past year, 2021! Maybe I should quit posting while I’m ahead…
I totally got what you meant. It was a bit weird because Wrappings has been pretty constant every year.
Angelique Noire again today since it’s snowing out. Very tired since the fire alarms went off at around 1am. Lot of smoke from the building’s parking garage so I think some homeless person caused a literal dumpster fire
Ugh on fire alarms at 1am, but glad things are okay. I’ve always thought Angelique Noire is more verte (vert?) than noire, so I’m giving you cp points!
I spent the day in Heure Exquise edt for the CP but this evening I wanted something opulent, so it’s Bal à Versailles.
SpringPansy: So sorry my post landed as a reply somehow.
I think so too
I hope you get a good sleep tonight!
I’m saving a green scent for tomorrow and wearing Zoologist Snowy Owl today. I haven’t been here much partly because of feeling terrible after surgery (much of that due to medication side effects) and also I just didn’t have any perfume with me for most of my time in three hospitals over three weeks (long story). My leg seems to be healing but has a long ways to go due to how bad my femur fracture was (they refer to it as “shattered”). I’m home temporarily among my cats since my brother has been here to help but he and his wife are leaving tomorrow. Fortunately I’m going to a friend’s house then.
So sorry that you’ve had such a rough time, wishing you a speedy and complete recovery from here on out.
Oooooof. Sending you extra healing vibes for your poor femur! Thank goodness your brother and his wife were able to help you out for a while.
I’m so sorry you are having to go through all of this, what an ordeal. Interested in your thoughts on Snowy Owl, if you feel like sharing.
Sending hugs and healing vibes!
Sending out good thoughts for your recovery. Glad that you have friends and family to help; I bet the cats are thrilled to see you!
Heal well, calypso! So your pics and you and the cat look happy!
Sending you all the healing energy I can!
Glad you stopped by, Calypso – sounds like you’ve got some good support, and I continue to expect a full recovery for you! Looking forward to your “green scent” on Friday!
Sending you all of the healing vibes, Calypso.
Calypso, you must be so sick of this! Hang in there, we are all rooting for you.
Nishane Nanshe for the day.
I think I have a sample of this. I bet you smell good!
I am in A Mood today, and perversely enjoying the cloudy, rainy, cool weather. It’s exactly what March ought to be around here, but hasn’t been. I hope that the recent spate of record warm temps aren’t a harbinger of what summer will be like…
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EdP, from the sample stash and hajusuuri. It is absolutely perfect for the weather.
Hi scent almost twins (mine’s the edt). I took my mom on her outing today and it was 74F which felt sweaty and awful, it’s just not supposed to be this warm right now and I share your thoughts on the upcoming summer.
I’m supposed to get weather like yours tomorrow. I don’t want to have to turn on the A/C in March! That’s Just Not Right!
And it seems that the part of NJ I am in is currently in a Moderate Drought. So I am hoping for more rain to come again soon.
Rain is moving in overnight, hopefully you’ll get some too.
Looks like more is on its way for Saturday.
I agree weather should be month appropriate!
Mr. Jalapeno has switched over to wearing shorts already! I’m not ready to break out my summer leggings yet.
Smelling wonderful! I need to bring out my edp more since I default to the edt usually. Maybe a wrist-to-wrist comparison is in order.
FWIW, I have noticed a rose note in the EdP that I don’t detect in the EdT. It looks like I really, really like both of them, uh oh!
Yay twin! It was just so yucky gray out and wet! It will be warm tomorrow so will have to rethink my outfit!
Hopefully you have light layers available for tomorrow.
Wearing some original formulation Kilian Love today from a most generous NSTer.♥️
My sister had a follow up scan today and I am waiting to hear back how it went. If the scan is clear, she will have her chemo port removed. She finished her chemo treatments in November.??
I am feeling anxious today on multiple fronts and also didn’t sleep well..
I will be attending the Beautyhabit sniffing event today if anyone else will be joining…I forget which house it is actually. ehaeheh an Italian one I think.? I am not affiliated w/ BH other than I buy stuff from them from time to time. 😉
Have fun, She-ra! Hope your anxiety is relieved.
Fingers crossed for your sister!?
I so hope that you and your sister got good news from today’s checkup!
I hope it went well!
I hope your sister gets a good report!
I hope the sniffing event was fun and that your sister got good news!
I hope your sister gets good news! Have fun at the event!
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
Green, what else if not for St. Patrick’s Day!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CbN7MtHuU2_/?utm_medium=copy_link
I also accelerated my Caturday post with the cutest Purr-ito ever:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CbN9QzguuaJ/?utm_medium=copy_link
Scent twins again today! And ZOMG, that Purr-ito is so darn cute! I die!
Woohoo! As to Purr-ito, I couldn’t not get her!
Falling over from excess of kawaii!!
Purritos Mango is adorable, but Greenie is hands down my new favorite!
Thank you…Greenie ranks way up there as one of my favorite owls!
Omg so cute!
Ha! Thank you!
Smelling great! Chanel made a good showing this week.
Happy St. Paddy’s Day! SOTD was G&B Blue Cypress, which is a fresh green scent in my mind even if not in name.
Posting so late that my pot of tea is long gone. I’ve switched to a local irish stout and a slice of my SIL’s extremely delicious soda bread.
Did you like Blue Cypress? I may have it in my discovery set.
I do like it, but take that with a grain of salt bc it’s rare for me to meet a cypress that I *don’t* like.
Beer cousins tonight… I had a hazy IPA with my dinner. ?
Oooh, which one?
Stone Brewing’s Hazy IPA. They’re one of my favorite craft brewers.
I usually get their Enjoy By _____. I’ll have to keep an eye out for their hazies.
Late but here to post.
Sotd was Carven L’Eau de Toilette. A beautiful watery green. It didn’t survive the whole day but that’s ok.
I got my car back today, and I am happy about that.
Jalapeno here’s my song of the day
https://youtu.be/Dva8aVJH8uE
LOL! And w00t w00t for getting your car back!
Thought your song pick might have been this:
https://youtu.be/PvF9PAxe5Ng
Glad your car is home! I hope you resprayed with something more fortifying.
Glad your wheels are rolling again!
Haven’t been able to post until late these days but had a lovely day in Synthetic Jungle and feeling good about ongoing struggle with insurance company. Good perfume is needed for such things.
So late, but I wore Miller et Bertaux Green, Green, Green and…Green after it was mentioned here recently. Been loving green week.
You smell greeny good! I’ve been loving green week too.
