It’s Tuesday and the Ides of March, plus World Consumer Rights Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: its my last full day of vacation (tomorrow will be a travel day), so I'm still commando for a beach day, still wearing Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum at night since it’s the only perfume I brought with me. Tea this morning will be hotel coffee.
Reminder: on 3/18 we're doing Green Friday...wear a green perfume (St. Patrick's Day is on Thursday so maybe wear 2 in a row? This is a repeat from 2014)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Euphoric Folk Tall Teapot Green ("The feelings of euphoria experienced from this tea moment are no folk tale! Delight in beautiful fine bone china teawares adorned with wild geometric prints") is $72 from T2.
I meant to say that I am not sure if I will be able to post again today, and it’s possible I won’t manage to post on Wednesday either, in which case, do feel free to include your scent of the day under the Tuesday post! Things should be back to normal on Thursday.
Have a great day everyone!
Enjoy your last day of vacation!?
Enjoy
Waste not a moment of your time to relax in the sun! ☀️?⛱??♀️?
Happy holiday Robin and safe home.
Enjoy today, and safe travels back home tomorrow Robin!
Thanks all! Beautiful day and will be very sorry to leave tomorrow.
I’m wearing AA Gentiana today, since it is a floral green scent. I’ve had this for years, but rarely wear it. I don’t know why, but I tend to forget that I have a full bottle. It is pretty and I should wear it more often.
Hadn’t heard of this one before, how lovely!
Gentiana! I have seen these flowers in mountain fields but I don’t think I know how they smell- nor have I seen a perfume with that note before. Sounds like a really special AA
Enjoy the end of your vacation, Robin! And safe travels home.
I am commando in hopes of another trial spritz at Cloon Keen later today. The Suede Galore that I thought was my front-runner from them turned really sharp in the final dry-down, but it may have been interference from my body lotion. Worth another try, for sure.
Thank you, and hope you managed another trial!
Tea is Bois Cherie tea
I am testing Roja perfumes. I am finding I don’t like many.
Money saved! They are pricey!
What madtowngirl says – I’d be relieved. I understand curiosity about them, and I’d be interested if any of them strongly remind you of any other more common scents.
Yes, I think I commented about this. One is a dupe (Roja Danger) of Samsara-for that price point, no thanks.
One Baccarat by FK, today I am wearing Enigma which reminds me of Tresor.
2 that I really love is Elixir and Risque (creation R)
Thank you, LTSG. Tresor at that price point – ha. BTW, I am finding out that for me, having Samsara edt and edp, in current and vintage versions, fulfills so much of what I “need” in my perfumania. Though I love funky animalics and room-filling florientals, I always feel at home in Samsara. And it is so available at decent prices.
I had never smelled any Roja perfumes until recently and I have found most of them to be sort of bland. Of course there are so many Rojas out there and I have only smelled about 6 in those little dab on samples which don’t always give you the true smell like the sprays do.
I enjoyed Scandal, but the price was the bigger scandal.??♂️??♂️
????
I received my Shalimar edc today,I missed it soooooo much in my collection!!?????
Ooooo! I would like to be in your fragrance trail as you walk around
I still love Unspoken, which I bought many years ago in Harrod’s Haute Perfumerie while on vacation. This was back when Roja only had about a dozen frags and no bling. I don’t know what the scent is called now, but it’s a classic straight-up chypre.
The one I like from the samples is a chypre
Yes, I noticed. ? I would be happy to send you a sample if you would like to compare.
Thank you!
I think I am ok for now
Unspoken and Enslaved were my favorites from the original collection.
I’m not a fan of Roja either. I do like a couple from his very first collection, but lost interest after he went with the glitzy jeweled caps and tripled the prices.
I’m in VC&A Bois d’Iris.
Most of the snow that was in our yard melted yesterday.? The spots that are left will likely melt today or tomorrow since we will be 65 and sunny!
When I stopped for chai on the way into work, a woman in the coffee shop was wearing her Chaco’s. We Wisconsinites get anxious for spring.???
We got about 3” of snow yesterday. It’s still on the tree branches, so very pretty right now. Temps will go up so that won’t last beyond this afternoon. On Sunday it hit 40, and one guy at church had on shorts and a t-shirt. My nod to the “warmer” temp was to have my down vest unzipped.
My daughter wanted to go bare legged under her skirt this morning. (30 degrees) I made her put on leggings.
Just read an article about how people are less likely to notice the cold when they think they look good, so cheers for your daughter’s self confidence in her attempt to bare legged.
The article also noted that it is a psychological reaction, not a physical one, so even if you are 110% feeling your look, you are still at risk of frostbite — so cheers to you too for making lil lillyjo put on legings anyway. 🙂
You smell pretty! Yay for warmer temps!
Oh, I wore that the other day. One of my favorites.
No points for me in Santalum by Fiele Fragrances, unless you count enjoyment points, of course. 😀 It was a gift from a lovely NST friend so it’s extra special. It’s got sandalwood from New Caledonia, and (they say) the emotion is: sensual, compassionate, peaceful. I don’t know that I’d call those emotions, more like states of being, but I’ll take ’em! Esp since I’ve been up since 4:30 stressing about various things.
You smell lovely and I’ll adopt “sensual, compassionate, peaceful” as my mantra today 🙂
I hope you feel less stressed as the day goes on. I like Fiele scents.
Yuck, that is far too early to be up and about!
Enjoyment points are more important than cp points, and even more so when you’re stressed. Hope you get good sleep tonight!
In the Heretic X Lotusland collaboration Osmanthus – described as a hypnotic blend of bright citruses, creamy florals, and verdant grasses.
Ooh, that sounds good — I bet you smell marvelous!
Thank you!
Today I am testing Dame Desert Rose. On me this is a very nice jammy rose. FB worth? Maybe, but may need to wear a few more times to decide ?
I really like dessert rose, too. I flirt with the idea of getting a FB from time to time.
I like quite a variety of green scents, so I can play the CP each day. Today is Aura edt. Fragrance-wise, I am in a somewhat unkempt Florida garden, it is late morning and just starting to warm up, and I’m eating a dish of tapioca pudding.
Perfect description!
Homemade tapioca pudding is SO yummy! ?
SO yummy!!!
Taking full points today in En Voyage Zelda.
That is definitely a teapot that makes you happy! Just lovely and were I a tea drinker, I would definitely purchase it. ?
I’m in the mood for an easy undemanding scent today, so I went with the old standby SL Bois de Vanille.
My knee is still bothering me, mostly when I’m on uneven ground or going down hill, so I haven’t been hiking much. T-Rex is not on board with this at all. I also noticed a few flowering trees yesterday as I drove about so I’m going to research an easy hike nearby that’s know for its wildflowers and give it a whirl tomorrow.
Four more weeks here and I can’t wait to be done. The staffing is worse than it was at the height of the pandemic. I had a family member threaten me over the phone Saturday night. Really, what is WRONG with some people…ugh! So done.
Oh, I’ve just committed a common crime! Sorry ringthing! I meant to post this below! BTW, you smell fabulous! Love Zelda ❤️
That company has such fun teapots!
Sorry about your knee and sorry you didn’t get fired 😉
Didn’t get fired but I did get an apology which went a long way in mollifying my snark! ??
Oh good, at least for that!
I don’t own a lot of really green scents, but Bulgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert qualifies: it’s right there in the name. I mostly like scents to have a lot of body, but there’s something about this light, pale, gauzy celadon green that really works for me.
It’s a classic! You smell great.
I always feel sad on the last day of a vacation, which is not a good thing because then I don’t get to enjoy the last day. Hopefully, you are enjoying your last day and looking forward to the next vacation.
We had a really nice day but I did spend some time trying to talk my husband into staying longer…not happening and knew it wasn’t happening and he is right that tomorrow I would say all the same things 🙂
Plus, we had to get up early to have our covid testing and don’t want to do that (or pay for it) again.
Hello!
Sotd is No.5 parfum.
I just started watching Juvenile Justice on Netflix. It’s a little dark but quite gripping. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys legal, investigation themed shows.
My husband is looking for a new show, I will pass on your recommendation! I have too many shows right now and am definitely still leaning towards cozy / not upsetting / etc.
Been MIA for a few days. Spent some of the weekend at work and the rest of it was taking care of some financial stuff. Wearing no 5 edp today.
Good to see you back Dawn!
Welcome back Dawn!
I wore Paris-Deauville yesterday, but today I’m entirely non-CP-compliant in Alahine. Usually it’s straight-up amber on me, but today the florals in it are very prominent (not that that’s a bad thing!). Maybe because I don’t wear it often, and the bits in the spray tube were less amber and more flowers? Dunno. The sprayer on my bottle is a bit leaky, so the bottle lives in a ziplock in a plastic bin to avoid leak damage and it’s a bit troublesome to get it out to spritz.
alahiiiine is always a good idea.
I don’t wear that one as much as I would like to. I have the spray and a solid compact.
Thunked a sample of Ormonde Jayne Royal Elixir today. I quite liked it.
Dear Lucasai-
I sampled Royal Elixir, and the risk of Donatella hearing this, I sprang for a full bottle with no regrets. Very elegant, long lasting, and has beautiful sillage. I get lots of compliments
Oh, you two are triggering a lemming moment. I have really enjoyed all of the Ormonde Jayne scents I’ve sampled, but that one hasn’t made it past my nose yet.
It’s unisex, it’s beautiful ?
Wearing Fragonard Jasmin Perles du Thé because someone mentioned on IG recently. We have snow-covered trees outside our window, it’s very pretty to look at, but it’s certainly not making me feel warm…
You smell good!
Getting green in Synthetic Jungle. It’s pulling on my heartstrings a little more than the last time I tested, but I probably still won’t buy anything. I like the hyacinth-forward phase, which on me is about 30 minutes in. Are there any other good hyacinth scents?
I liked SL Bas de Soie, a lipstick hyacinth and Smell Bent Florists Fridge a fresh hyacinth .
Oh,BOTH are the best rec’s!!LoveloveLOOOOOVE Florist’s Fridge in particular!
Me, too! Smells exactly like a Florist’s Fridge!
Excellent hyacinth recs. I would add Guy Laroche Fidji, a 60s green chypre with hyacinth, available at discounters.
Oh I’ve been thinking about this one too but never noticed a hyacinth note in it before, must pay better attention! Is it Nahéma that also has hyacinth? Or Chamade maybe…I wear both of those so infrequently (because they are treasured) and right now I can’t remember how either one smells! BTW, thank you for your comment about Outrageous last week in reply to my question ?
Pretty sure that it is Chamade with the hyacinth note.
Thank you! In that case it might emerge from its vault and join the party this week?
I’ll have to try Chamade! And you’ve inspired me to pull out Outrageous. Maybe for the weekend.
Oh, I so need to get downtown and try Synthetic Jungle, especially now that I can remove my mask indoors long enough to sniff. I love hyacinth!
One good hyacinth perfume (that was a limited time thing, so I’m treasuring every spray) was Tauer’s Hyacinth and a Mechanic. Here’s hoping that he does the Tauervilles again someday.
I remember reading about those Tauervilles, but I never got around to trying them. The hyacinth in SJ doesn’t last that long on me, but it is a great scent!
To my mind, nobody has ever beat L’Artisan’s. It’s one of the few scents I bought a BUB for, and I will be really sad when it’s gone.
Jo Malone’s Blue Hyacinth is the most photorealistic hyacinth scent I know, and I’ve tried MANY.
The good news is I’m going on holiday today, heading to the mountains with my main man and a wilting lettuce and a primus . The bad news is I have to put the dogs in boarding kennels for a couple of days so will invariably spend part of my holiday wondering if they’re safe, escaped, warm, stolen, been in a dog fight, feeling abandoned, blah blah blah. Dogs: can’t holiday with them, can’t holiday without ‘em! Wearing Perfect Intense from yesterday as it caught my eye with its “age appropriate” ( if you’re a five year old, or an “old lady” with diminishing standards) plastic bauble cap. Enjoying it as it is a bit JM Oat and Cornflower in its dry down.
Safe travels Robin!
Every time we go on holiday “we” ( not me) seem to go through the ordeal of cleaning out the fridge, taking everything that “needs to be eaten”. I assume the eye rolling position , while Alex gets stuck in. We have two jars of lemon curd ( given to me by neighbours), the lettuce, and something grey/ brown that could be tapenade or sludge from a duck pond. Vanilla paste that expires in 2018? Let’s take it!
I go through what I call “Iron Chef Refrigerator” every time we head out for a while, too. But if it’s expired it goes into the compost. Usually in our case it means we eat recipes that involve scallions, sour cream, and/or feta, which I always seem to have leftovers of in the fridge.
I had to look up the word primus. To me it’s a band name. I never knew it had meaning. Lol.
Enjoy your vacation!
Now I’ve got an earworm of “Jerry Was A Racecar Driver”… ?
Enjoy your holiday! I hate leaving my dog behind, but she always stays with a trusted friend so at least I don’t worry, just miss her.
Enjoy your break Kanuka! The stress of leaving everything in order, importantly furry family members is definitely a bit of a negative point in holidays. I find myself doing short 2-3 day often instead of long trips just not to leave my cat Mori for too long. Too OCD!
(looking at my gourmandish collection that will last years, my fate as an old lady with low perfume standards seems unavoidable ?)
Thank you Kanuka and safe travels to you! And the wilting lettuce!
Hope you can relax and not worry about the dogs the whole time.
I hope you’ve had a fabulous time on holiday, Robin, and I hope the same for your upcoming holiday, Kanuka.
I’m going with green leather in Dusita’s Le Sillage Blanc.
I love that Dusita, but doesn’t the name strike you as a misnomer? To me, there’s nothing white about the sillage, or anything else. ?
That is green as green can be! Such a piercing galbanum. I like my sample most in hot weather.
Completely fabulous, thank you!
Points for me with TF Vert de Fleur from a sample. It really smells like a florists shop with blooms and wet green leafs. I would not mind a bottle, but its ridiculously expensive. Is there something similar for a better price?
On Fragrantica it is compared to No 19 EDP.
tannina, perhaps check out the thread above, about Smell Bent’s FLorist’s Fridge. It might be a little too literal an interpretation, but it’s worth a sample.
Oh interesting- is this a recent TF or one of the older TF verts? I tried that older group (Vert de Boheme was one of them) and loved a couple but never noted which they were. That older range has since been mainly discontinued but if there’s a good current vert then this is good news!
I just went to re-try my sample of Vert de Fleur to jog my memory. It does bear a resemblance to No. 19 but 19 is much drier I think. I detect a bit of creaminess in Vert de Fleur that doesn’t show up in 19 for me. Both have that distinct galbanum note though.
I’ve been loving Goutal’s Heure Exquise, more than even No. 19 which can be challenging on my skin. Do try it, if you ever spot it!
The thing about Vert de Fleur is that it’s really all about galbanum., then floral notes. So if that’s what is appealing to you, I would look for a galbanum heavy-hitter. Jo Loves’ No. 42 The Flower Shop smells just like a florist’s shop, but it’s not focused on galbanum the way VdF is. Florist’s Fridge is nice but I don’t find it similar to VdF.
I’m smelling like allll the shades and hues of red and pink in Rose Jam.The body spray. This is sooo good!
Happy Tuesday boys and girls.
This week is a buzz-killer,but we’ll get through it!Loooong weekend ahead,Monday March 21st is Human Rights day in South Africa.Should be interesting-seeing my government’s lack of taking a stance on the current disaster…??✌?✌???
Smelling rozy great. Happy to know you will be able to relax with a long weekend.
I just opened a bottle of Rose Jam shower gel about a week ago, and have been enjoying it. So partial twin?
I am wearing the nineties formulation of Vent Vert for the CP but I’m still to decide on an evening scent, maybe Visa extrait.
I’m having spinash for dinner, that’s green too but it wasn’t in purpose.
Haha!Even your avatar on NST is green!??????
?
Sounds like you had a “hat trick” of green things today.
It wasn’t intentional ?, love recently developed a passion for fresh spinash, I add some to everything, rice, lentils, etc.
Still in the green floral category with Tom Ford Ombre de Hyacinth. My decant is close to being emptied now.
That’s a great one! I do love the smell of hyacinths.
People, Daylight Savings Time has again futzed up my sleep schedule. Why in the name of all the gods do we DO this?
I’m tired and grumpy, so I’m going to fortify myself with some Gris Charnel (thanks, AnniePerfumes!). Green is at the very bottom of its note pyramid on Fragrantica, so I’m also collecting a few CP points.
It saves energy! (Not really.) I live in a province that has apparently passed permanent daylight savings time, but with the caveat that we won’t do it until everyone else does. Great.
There is hope on the horizon (no pun intended). The Senate passed a bill making Daylight Savings Time permanent today.
Yay! Now that’s some good news. I hate the time change.
That would be great. I grew up in a state that didn’t participate in DST, then 20 yrs ago, our governor decided to be on EST (the line for EST/CST goes right through IN). I hate changing.
That was the WORST. My family lived in Indiana for a while, and then I went to university in Chicago. I could *not* get used to being basically on the same time but an hour behind in the winter when I was in Chicago.
Surprisingly, I’ve been getting up earlier although it could be because I am going to sleep slightly earlier!
Smelling green adjacent in garden floral samples today: CdG/Stephen Jones Wisteria Hysteria on one wrist and Imaginary Authors Fox in the Flowerbed on the other. I’m really digging the mate-wisteria-rose watercolor of the WH. Too bad it seems to be long discontinued. The FitF is much less brisk and aldehydic than I expected; I get more of a wild alpine flowers vibe from it. I strong like but not love.
Drinking delicious marco polo tea today and enjoying fresh air from open widows.
IIRC, Wisteria Hysteria wasn’t out for very long, either. It seemed to vanish in the blink of an eye. I don’t remember if it was a limited edition or not.
It’s a shame to make that *bottle* a limited edition. It’s like a cute huge meringue.
I think it was a limited edition. I have to remember how I acquired a bottle!
Hello everyone, keeping it very literal today in AA Limon Verde. I only wear it in summer so it feels odd being this bright and zingy in March! I have a stack of bottles ready for the rest of the week, sometimes green in the name, sometimes the bottle is green, but I really should consider “green” in perfume terms and give this all a bit more thought… Thanks for the enjoyable distraction and sending you all peaceful wishes.
I’m in Providence Perfume Co. Blossom & Vine from an old sample today. I’m not sure why I don’t have more green perfumes, but this is one that should be CP-compliant.
Enjoy the rest of your vacation, Robin!
Wore CdG Nomad Tea this morning, and it was real nice while it lasted. This evening, a repeat of yesterday in Zegna Roman Wood. For all you pine+vanilla lovers out there. ?
Vert d’Encens for me today
I forgot I had this one, may wear it on Friday!
Hello NST!
Commando for part of the day for my follow up mammogram and ultrasound. The verdict: not cancer! So relieved!
SOTD = Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa, from the sample stash. I’m thinking this one is a cool-to-cold weather scent for me.
That’s such good news, Jalapeno!
Yeah, for sure! I felt about 10 pounds lighter and 10 years younger after hearing that.
Happy for your good news. I love Santal Pao Rosa. 🙂
Thanks cazaubon! I enjoyed sitting and wafting for a bit this afternoon.
Great news!!
Definitely! There’s a family history of breast cancer, so I had cause for concern.
Great news!
Thank you Cicely!
Oh Jalapeño, that’s great news!
Thanks ringthing!
So happy for your good news, J!! SPR sounded like something I’d like. Does it remind you of any other Guerlain – I wonder about Samasara?
Thank you MossyBerry! Santal Pao Rosa has no resemblance to any other Guerlain I know of. It’s a close to the skin woods & rose scent. Definitely not at all related to Samsara; that one is much more voluptuous.
Oh this is wonderful news, very happy for you. What a relief.
It is, thanks DolceVita!
Woohoo!
Yep yep!
So happy for you!
Thank you allo!
Woohoo! So happy for you jalapeño!
I just bought a big honking bottle of Santal Pao Rosa!
Thanks hajusuuri! Was there another size of Santal Pao Rosa besides “big honking”? ?
I do have the mini from the Advent Calendar.
There is the 100ml and the 200ml – guessing hajusuuri went for the 200ml of Santal Pao Rosa. 😉
Oh that’s the most wonderful news. I’m truly happy to hear it, Jalapeno!
Thank you tulipani!
Hooray! That’s fantastic news.
Thanks sistine! I will sleep much better not having that on my mind.
Great news! ?
Thank you AnnE! I can rest easy for a while.
What a relief! ?
Wonderful news!
Great news! I hate that wait between the mammogram and the follow up…have had to do that multiple times now.
So glad everything turned out fine!
Yay for your good news, Jalapeno! 🙂
Yay, that’s done with then!
I’m wearing an oddball scent, ordered blind from First in Fragrance in Germany. The brand is called Les Soeurs de Noé and the scent is Jardin de Macarons. It’s pleasant, can’t really say it smells exactly of macarons, but there is sweetness and a faint touch of lemon. This is the kind of thing that would offend no one, a very easy wear, but not a lot of character. The bottle is quite pretty though (the other reason I bought it, besides macarons).
What a pity it isn’t more interesting but it sounds like a nice experiment!
It could have been a lot worse!
I’m wearing Chanel No. 19 edt from my vintage bottle. The color of the juice is the most lovely green, matching the color of the daylilies coming up in my garden.
Ooooooh, you smell GREAT!
Nice!
Gorgeous!
I wore Cuir Beluga this morning to go to work as needing something comforting. My bottle is going down so quickly!
Now after visiting local mall coming back home, I have a patchwork of different perfumes on my wrists and arms. Guimauve the Noel (thanks to NSTers recommending) on one hand, Love don’t be shy in the other and really, these two are very very similar! Almost identical at times. Then I have Cuir de Russie over one arm, and N 22 in the other (to see if newer formulation different from my older EDP bottle at home- to me smells the same including the incense of the base I love so much, I wonder how the EDT differs!). In a card, Vintage Gardenia JM ( brought back after years, really nice one reminds me of French lime blossom but with less bite and more creamy floral) and Oud Satin Mood. Liking them all!
Do you have a Backup Bottle of Cuir Beluga?
teeny tiny little voice says yes yes yes
? yes! Bought in the discontinuation panic a few months ago
Good call on that CB BUB! I did the same.
Thanks to a generous Nster I am testing out Portrait of a Lady today. I sampled it once before from a dabber. I had a hard time smelling it. Today with just one spray… Woah it’s a powerhouse on me. It’s settled down now and I am enjoying it.
No news on my car repair yet. Hopefully tomorrow. I really need my car back.
I hope you get it back by tomorrow! Imagine me in POAL at hajusuuri levels ?
I already imagined it! I couldn’t do it! ?
LOL ?
POAL is a big one!
Green week! A favourite as my user name would suggest. I think I could do two weeks with my collection. Tried Synthetic Jungle again… the first few minutes are the best – wish it could remain like that. Today I am wearing Eau de Campagne… a classic from JCE!
SOTD = A Layered Affair…with Chris Rusak Timbre EDT and EDP
Super green!

In other news, for the first time today, I had to sit elbow to elbow with someone on a two-seater. It’s not ideal but eh, it was my sweet spot express train. There are definitely more and more people commuting. So far, we’re in a 3 days per week schedule and I hope this stays either forever or for a good long while!
Fingers crossed you won’t have to commute more than the 3 days!
Fingers, eyes and toes crossed!
How has the train schedule been for you lately? Still erratic, or running closer to schedule now?
They have been running close to schedule for the most part. My sweet spot train schedule is 6-6:30am.
Was not CP compliant in Divine Vanille to start the day, but then I saw tannina’s question about Vert de Fleur and had to go dab some of that sample on.
Not CP compliant in Gallivant’s Brooklyn. But sometimes you just need an orange/ amber comfort bomb.
It’s odd, I really love green perfumes on other people but don’t own any. They just stink like rotten flower vase water on me.
Ew, rotten flower vase water sounds absolutely vile. ?
Immediately know what smell you’re talking about, and…ewww.
CP points in Chamade, a green floral. Love it! I’m building up toward my greenest greens on Friday.
