It's Monday and Pi Day. Birthdays: Albert Einstein, Diane Arbus, Quincy Jones. RIP William Hurt. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: still on vacation, still commando for a beach day, still wearing Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum at night since it’s the only perfume I brought with me.
Reminder: on 3/18 we're doing Green Friday...wear a green perfume (St. Patrick's Day is on Thursday so maybe wear 2 in a row? This is a repeat from 2014)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Vanille Insensee, drinking chai tea and trying to stay awake!? That spring time change is brutal. I feel sleeeepy.
We went to a paddling expo yesterday. Yep, that’s a thing. We already have a canoe and 2 kayaks. I have had my eye on a beautiful standup paddle board for a few years, and yesterday was going to be the day I decided to make the purchase! Of course they were out of stock.☹️ They are supposed to get more by April 1 so I’m keeping my fingers crossed they do.
Ooh, I hope the paddle board arrives soon! April 1 is not so far away. I love kayaking but have never tried the SUP.
I know! Just a couple of weeks away!
chai tea! Yum!
It is. Not as good as your FIL’s though!?
Fun! I have admiration for anyone who can balance on a paddle board.
I have admiration for anyone who can do yoga on a paddle board! I can barely hold some of those poses on land.
I am doing vanilla with you today, but a different one. See below.
Hey vanilla twin.?
I get so tempted to buy a paddleboard! But where would I put it?? Now if I could only get husband to start cleaning out the garage, maybe there would be space……
Yeah, they do take up a lot of space. I’m hoping there’s room in our garage!
You smell wonderful, a good combination with feeling sleepy, at least. The first time I ever tried kayaking (which was not as terrifying as this non-sportif gal thought) I saw another gal paddle boarding by. I think it looks very fun – hope you get to go for it, MTG!
Thanks MB! I love kayaking. I’m not that great at paddleboarding, yet.?
I was just looking at a gorgeous 2 person inflatable SUP yesterday. Very tempting.
Very. I’ve been dreaming of this particular one for years and I decided I’m done waiting!
Wearing Falcon Leather by Matiere Premiere today. Bought the mini 6mL bottle (genius size for proper testing) and a full bottle is in my near future. You smell fantastic, Robin! Hope you’ve had a restful vacation!
6 ml is the perfect size!
Extremely restful and will be very sorry to go back home on Wednesday.
I’m wearing the end of a sample of BPAL Whip, which is a perfume oil. I think I will try to do green for the rest of the week.
I will have to start when I’m home Thursday, but normally a week of green would be right up my alley.
In Iris Malikhan, which, to my nose, is about as un-green as possible.
Our weekend plans have changed and so we will be here in Galway, instead of in Donegal. The forecast for Fri-Sun is quite wonderful, so maybe Friday will be the day I break out Cristalle Eau Verte. For Thursday, my plan is to to keep my head down and stay away from the throngs — though I will try to catch some of the parade if I am feeling bold. Both Thursday and Friday are bank holidays in Ireland this year, and there’s already a festive air in the city.
I hope you have a great time whatever you do.
What a nice holiday to look forward to and what a great country to live in! I learned English staying with a family over the summer in Tralee as a child and have such good memories:)
Are you enjoying Iris Malikhan? I have a tiny sample and so far so good! It has a bit of green in it with that galbanum/ pine undercurrent.
Well, if it’s Pi Day, I have to wear Givenchy Pi, don’t I? It’s still so good after all these years.
Oh good for you-I loved this when it first came out but never bought it. I wore Givenchy Play at that time instead (and once when I dropped the glass refill vial in the bathroom at college, I wore it ALL over). Enjoy your fragrant Pi day!
Yes, I think you do!
Quincy Jones is on The Weeknd’s album, so I listened to him today without realizing it was his birthday.
Sampling Roja Creation R/Risque today. Interesting chypre
Perfect for the sun we are getting today.
Zoom today, so full on makeup. Trying out C.Tillbury shadow pot in Rose Gold.
Deva, you did your part and more. Enjoy your time off.
Another lovely photo today!
I’m in SmellBent Gypsy and still going strong 13 hours later! Just finished my Friday and I’m over joyed ? which makes me feel guilty ? with all the madness in the world…
Holding on to joys big and small keeps us sane, with all the madness in the world.
covet that joy!
Enjoy your weekend!
Enjoy your time off guilt-free, you earned it!
Wearing Mugler A*Men. I found the cutest 1 oz bottle on eBay, I bought it unsniffed because I am still going through a resurgence of perfume love geared at Mugler. I think I might like it more than Angel, I get the Angel opening then lots of coffee and patchouli.
Yesterday it was 18F and snowing in the morning, then 50F and sunny by the afternoon. Headache weather although spring is more than welcome.
I bought both Angel and A*Men when they were launched, and it was immediately obvious that the men’s version was easier to wear — less sweet, with the coffee and peppermint cutting through all that sugar.
I much prefer A*men as well.
Alright you guys, let’s not get the lemmings stirred up here with a load of loose talk about coffee and patchouli, LOL!
But….the little bottle is so cute! And cheap! ?
Lalalalalalalalalala, I can’ t hear you!
Testing Dame Black Flower Mexican Vanilla. I like it, but I think I like Vanille Insensee a wee bit better.
Interesting, would think the VI would be so much lighter? But have never smelled the Dame.
Sotd is Chamade – I’m happy to be reminded of this one today and its greeny goodness. And I’m looking forward to choosing the rest of this week’s green line-up.
Chamade! Gorgeous.
This is a true beauty!
Green week! I can do this. Kilian L’Heure Verte is on deck for later.
But for now, still in the dregs of Natori from last night. A fun cheapie, plum and sandalwood-ish.
I started cleaning out the basement this weekend. Found many solidified paint cans, 3 boxes of spare wine glasses with 1-2 glasses left in each box, some 10 year old packets of decaf coffee (don’t ask), and the old mauve blinds that were in this house when we moved in 27 years ago. So 80’s 🙂
I still have one freebie left unclaimed from the weekend: Thorn & Bloom Evergreen, 7.5ml travel spray, 99% full. If you like indie pine scents from brands like Slumberhouse or La Curie, you might like this one too. Ping me at emc dawt 71 17 in g-mayle.
Oh yikes basement cleaning is on the docket for us too. But not quite yet as our basement here in MN is just too cold to work in. Paint, scary bags of plaster patch that are rock solid, too many boxes saved because we “might” need them.
Lol, on the mauve blinds, why’d you save them in the first place?
Oh, gosh, I hate to put functional things in the landfill. I tried to give them away; the normal size ones went, but odd size ones didn’t, of course. I finally decided that the best I could do was to dismantle them and recycle what I could.
I bet we have a few solidified paint cans!
Mauve! That is so 80’s. My college bestie and I painted our dorm room mauve, and that was ‘87.
Just sent you an email about the Thorn & Bloom.
Snowing here. It’s coming down quite beautifully. It’ll be short-lived since tomorrow will be warmer. But, I’m finding it nice today…quiet and serene. (We had snow dusting the roads yesterday morning, but by afternoon it was gone and dry.)
I think it’ll be Angel Muse after my shower. Cozy.
Sad to see William Hurt pass away. He was such a huge movie presence when I was in my 20s. An impressive portfolio of films.
Same here. I remember him particularly from “Children of a lesser God” which I would now like to rewatch.
Was thinking of that too…pretty sure I have not seen it since it came out.
Sampling Green Gaya from Anfas today. It’s an interesting fruity spicy scent
Green points for the name…
I’m still seething about that ‘don’t smell like a grandma’ post so am wearing Sumo Wrestler because, you know, I find it appropriate for my age group
Ha! Well done.
???
?? good for you! I’m wearing a gourmand- and I guess I need to use it up fast before it is no longer age appropriate or something. Ha!
I wonder if there are IQ and EQ appropriate perfumes that we should watch out for?
Excellent.
I’m in Habit Rouge Dress Code edp, a decant from hajusuuri that I forget about but thoroughly enjoy when I wear it. It’s perfect for in between weather days like today.
I’m a little out of sorts today I guess; will blame it on the time change! ?
Sorry! Hope tomorrow is better.
You smell wonderful! Did you ever get your gall bladder sorted out?
Oy! Forgot to choose subscribe to replies to my comments.
Nearly there. I had some imaging done on Friday and hope to hear back from the doc by midweek about the results. He’s pretty sure I’ll have to have it removed though. Thanks for asking!
SOTD is Diptyque Oyedo (it was on someone’s spring wish list).
It’s chilly out here and I am getting ready for a run.
Wishing you all a good week ahead! ?
You smell great NinaV!
SOTD was Oriana from a decant in the morning (a nice vanilla marshmallow concoction with a bit of orange blossom)- quite a nice gourmand. And now in a spray of my unicorn, Iris Ganache from my dwindling decant. Very unoriginal, I know, but I wish I could find or swap a bottle without losing a kidney in the process. Sigh!
I should try Oriana.
Oriana smells good but it smells like Kilian Love Extreme and I don’t need both.
Wearing Eris Scorpion Rising. I do like this one.
By the end of Saturday, I did not like TF Rose d’Chine. Something flat or sour stood out. Thought about getting the set of three travel size, but nope, glad I gave it a test.
Yay for money saved!
Green! I can do lots of those, but I’m actually in the mood for something more orange. Neroli Outrenoir is calling out to me today.
That may just pass as a green with all the tea? A bit like Angelique Noire, that is a green vanilla. Neroli Outrenoir is so so beautiful, I wish it worked better on me.
Not a green scent fan, will probably sit this out most of the week, although I do have Chamade extrait that could work for Friday.
Testing a bunch of samples right now but after shower will be wearing Arte Profumi Bisquit.
Always skip unpleasant community projects, that’s my advice!
I think i will do a green week, so i am starting with Eau de Lancaster, green herby and a bit vanilla in the base. Not too bad for such a bargain scent.
Lancome dual, with Oud Bouquet on one are amd L’Autre Oud on l’autre arm. Ah, just just don’t get sick of writing that (people reading it might have another opinion though)
I’ll never get sick of your writing that; in fact I am chortling and thinking you smell wonderful~
I’m wearing Art Collection No. 08, probably because it’s one of the taller bottles in my cabinet and visually stands out. Also, it’s very easy to wear, and I enjoy smelling like a cup of perfumed chai.
Daffodils are up, and rosemary and forsythia are blooming here, so spring must be coming soon. Looking forward to sunnier days. In honor of Pi day, I’m wearing Madhat Limed, and I smell like key lime pie.
Rose D’Amalfi today…sweet powdery almond goodness.
Sounds lovely. Off to look up the notes.
Today I layered Prada Candy Night with Orange Sanguine. Chocolate Orange and Benzoin.
I just had my car towed back to the shop for a new issue. I should have worn something green today so at least I could smell like money. Lol.
Eek, lillyjo – a tow back?!? Sending fragrant hand pats and at least you smell fabulous!
Oh no, car stuff is awful. As bad as a sudden dental procedure, inconvenient and expensive. Here’s hoping it’s something minor and quickly fixed.
Lol about smelling like money! Good luck with the car troubles.
Oh no! I’m sorry. Hope it turns out better than expected!?
Oy vey! I hope it turned out to be something innocuous!
Oh no! TOWED back to the repair shop? That doesn’t sound good at all. ?
Whoa, towed back?!? I’m so sorry! I hope the bill isn’t too bad. You came up with an inspired perfume combo, though.
Robin, I love today’s picture! And I hope you’re enjoying your trip!
I completely forgot about green week and I’m in Tonka Imperiale. It’s really hitting the spot. It feels very chilly in my apartment but it’s sunny and 68 outside.
I want to add. I’m turning 46 this month and I’ll smell like candied almonds if I want! ?
Tulipani! Did I read it right that you are moving house? Huge congratulations ? I did this last year after decades in small cramped flats. It was a lot of work but a wonderful and wholly positive change. A friend gave me this advice: pack your junk. Purchasing and packing and moving are all big enough without adding a massive clear-out to your to-do list! Mind you, once I had heard this and accepted it, once the clear-out pressure was off, I actually was able to deal with a lot of things I had stowed away and had never wanted to face before…so good luck, whatever you decide!
Hi DolveVita! Yes, you heard right! Thanks to everyone for their congratulatory messages this weekend.
And wow, thanks for your great advice. I have been in my apartment for over 15 years, so I’ve accumulated a lot of stuff. Not to mention kids stuff. It’s been mentally stressful trying to think of what to toss/keep/donate or repurpose meaningfully. I do feel very ready now to toss a lot, but following your advice would be a huge lessening of the mental load. Toss what I’m ready to let go of, and pack the rest!
We are, thank you!
Very good luck with the move.
SotD Oakland Fresca’s swap of L’Air du Temps. At last I smell the legend; it is so much the kind of scent I love. I am going to make a mincemeat pie to enjoy Pi Day, and close out winter; I use the Nonesuch mix and add apples and various dried fruits on hand plus extra spices to jazz it up. Most fabulous weather here and some of my new bulbs are peeking up. My yard’s microclimate is very cool and my established daffodils are always late, even the early varieties. But I hear happy birdies singing and I gave some of my porch plants a brief outing in indirect sun.
Oh, I’m so glad someone got the LAdT, and that you like it!
Hello everyone! Forgot about green week but must have remembered about colours, as I spent the day in a lot of Fracas (which I like to wear with pink, just cos it’s on the box). Good wishes to you all and looking forward to the perfume choices this week! I might see if I can finally get my hands on some Synthetic Jungle-have tried it, would like 10mls of it, but it has yet to come into stock in my town! Also noting with interest all comments about the new TF rose trio. Thank you, perfume friends ❤️
I liked Synthetic Jungle, but so far, not love. I need to try it again though.
I love the picture, Robin!
SOTD = Diptyque Venise
It’s part of the Le Grand Tour collection. I believe Kyoto is part of it too and I really should layer these two. Nevertheless, Venise is good by itself: tomato leaf vetiver!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CbGiwm6uNUW/?utm_medium=copy_link
Tomato leaf Vetiver sounds great in my book. I hope I can still find this one in my local store?
I hope you get to try it!
You smell(ed) great today!
Thank you!
Thank you, and sounds like I should try Venise.
I’ve started off green week in style with No. 19 EDP. In typical Seattle fashion, to ring in longer daylight hours, we’ve been “gifted” a week of mostly rain. No after work walk for me for at least the next two days. Wednesday is currently a maybe.
You smell fab…I’ll be wearing this at least one day this week!
Feeling your Seattle pain!
Very late today! Posting and running, since I am in the middle of a task.
SOTD = Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum.
Task done? You smell good!
Still working on it! Guess I shouldn’t have waited so long to do laundry? ?
Estee Lauder Tender Light
I’ll be green all week, as that’s one of my favorite categories of fragrance. CP points for Monday, in Cristalle.
