Thursday scent of the day 3/3

Posted by Robin on 3 March 2022 116 Comments

It’s Almost-Friday and World Wildlife Day. Birthdays: Jean Harlow, Ira Glass. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Prada L’Eau Ambrée, from perfumer Daniela Andrier.

Reminder: on 3/4, to mark Women's History Month, wear a perfume by your favorite female perfumer. (In 2018 we marked the occasion by wearing a fragrance by perfumer Germaine Cellier or Josephine Catapano.)

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: top image is detail from Prada's Spring/Summer 2022 Prada womenswear campaign.

    Good morning.
Perfumer twin Robin! Today I am in Candy l’eau.
For breakfast today I am having a “thin” slice of devils food cake that I made yesterday. I will have celery for lunch…haha.

It is a good citrus scent, of which I have many, but I’ve enjoyed the samples I’ve had.

YR Neonatura Cocoon. Big patchouli, dusty cocoa powder, warm vanilla. Incredibly simple, but excellent.

Going for the gold in the CP today, wearing Kenzo Amour Le Parfum by Daphne Bugey.
I don’t usually go for sweet frags, but I ❤️ this one! I am wrapped in a comforting cloud of benzoin and vanilla for this cold but beautifully sunny day.

I was just commenting to Robin’s reply about how lucky I am. I gave up my city life to teach high school on the Navajo nation in New Mexico, and it has been such a joy. I love my students – they make me laugh myself silly every day. I love coaching cross country and track. The Navajo fry bread is such a treat. And yes, wild horses! This has been such an uplifting experience. ?

Hilarious nature story: our doorbell just rang. It’s sortof a cowbell design, with a hanging wooden swing-style knocker. We go and look: nobody there! But the knocker is swinging madly… and we spot a chipmunk running away at warp speed, lol.

    Happy Thursday!!
SOTD!I am so dumb, thinking it might be a difficult cp this week!!
I have forgotten about the brand that I have been raving about for a while…Wick Fragrances!
My package arrived from them yesterday,I know have the two new perfumes from them added to my collection
Wearing Fabulous Human today…oh boy.It really is fabulous!Spicy-rum and amber,it’s a gorgeous perfume!
Backstory:Wick fragrances started out as aircare with room/linen mists, candles and diffusers.I’ve been aware of their candles and the brand, but the launch of their first two perfumes last year really made me investigate.
Perfumer and brand-owner(double points, yes?Yes!!)is the fabulously humble Lauren Graham.I so wish her well, and hope the brand continues to expand and reach the US asap as well!
    XO’s

I’m in Bee’s Bliss again because I’m wearing the same flannel as yesterday, although it got so hot I had to take it off in the afternoon. They’re predicting snow tomorrow..! ?

In the sprit of World Wildlife Day, I linked a audio of some coyotes howling last night by my campsite. They were very active, waking me three times in the night, which made me smile and nod right back to sleep. Also had some deer about 50’ from my site last evening but there was too much brush to get any good photos. The recording is hard to hear at first, so you have to turn the volume up.

I skimmed the comments this AM and see that I am in excellent company wearing a Sonoma Scent Studio scent. I’m in Laurie’s Champagne de Bois. I guess it says a lot about the community she put together that I am not just now recalling her last name. I hope she is doing amazing things and life is good for her!

And, I am repeating my offer :-) :

Last week, I purchased a bottle of 30 year old L’air du Temps edt. It is a large bottle and I am no aficionado of this perfume. I want to offer up to ten, 5 ml decants to NST regulars based CONUS. The deal is you have to swap me back 5 mls (less is okay too) of a perfume you love (but not one of those, ‘it doesn’t work for me but others love it.’ For this swap, you have to love and wear the perfume you send me!) If you are interested, email me your name and address, and NST handle :-). I am: ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net

Finishing up my Arquiste samples today in The Architects Club, alas no CP points until tomorrow. TAC reminds me a lot of Nishane Ani at about 2/3 the intesntity, but with a a hint of Duelle (like if you wore Duelle to bed last night and then put on a light spray of Ani this morning), and dusted with marshmallow powder. It’s a lovely woody vanilla.

Dring Clipper Ship Earl Gray Creme london fogs to go with it.

I’ve been kind of doing a single female perfumer’s house each day.
Today is La Curie (Lesli Wood), starting with Incendo this morning. I’ll probably switch over to Ossuary tonight. Good memories of our visit to Tucson right around this time in 2019.

Yesterday was Patricia de Nicolaï day (Le Temps d’une Fête, then New York Intense in the evening).

Heading off soon to collect our cat after her ear surgery. Phaedra won’t enjoy another two hours in the car, but I’m hoping we’ll be forgiven once we get home. I’m thinking of Mito today, by Vera Kern. I tried all her EdPs, only a couple really appealed to me enough to get FBs (Mito and Rubj), but they were all unusual and very interesting.

Cuirs (plural as it turns out) is a a rich and relaxing leather. There’s a store here called Masc with fancy shaving cream, etc. and they have much of Carner Barcelona’s line. Many are Too Dude for me, but it would seem that I like leather if it is gentlemanly.

I kept thinking about Bengale Rouge so it was an easy choice to wear it today. Liz Moores has created some amazing perfumes these last few years. Even though they don’t all work for me (and nothing wrong with that), I really enjoy the ones that do work. And I can’t wait to smell her new perfume, Hera, when it’s released. No release date yet for it.

I’m in VC&A Bois d’Iris today, I know some of you also love this one. And taking CP points for the perfumer, Emilie (Bevierre) Coppermann.

Internet has been spotty for a couple of days. Completely frustrating while trying to work–or read NST ;). I’m off today and heading out soon for my 4 mile walk.

Oh, I have a VC&A somewhere (not that one), should see if the nose is a woman.
Was it you I was chatting with about the Chantecaille lip tints?
Today and today only (World Wildlife Day), they’re offering a giraffe makeup bag with any purchase. They must be dealing with supply chain challenges, because all the colors I wanted in the more reasonably priced lipsticks were sold out. Wound up getting a limited-ed shade which I don’t need at all, but really wanted that GWP. Feeling like a bit of a sap, but at least it helps support a good cause!

It wasn’t me, but I’m still happy to know about it. I like lip tints!

I’m using up samples so today is Les Indemodables Rose de Jamal. I won’t need any more when it’s gone.

Going for double points today. I started in le Temps d’Une Fete because it’s light and I planned to go soap shopping. Just got home, ran out of time so no soap, and sprayed on copious amounts of DSH Inner Sanctum. I’ll have to try and get soap tomorrow.

Normally Internal Audit announces their audit plan but this one was not on it, just some snooping here and there and as much as I hated to do it, I had to correct their interpretation.

Wearing Naomi Goodsir Or du Sérail. Rain blowing in tonight, but managed to get out on a sunny, windy walk with the dog at lunchtime.

That sounds like one I’d like to try, though Duchaufour’s creations often don’t work for me. Do like the fact that Goodsir offers a tightly edited lineup.

    Chiming in late again!

SOTD = Sonoma Scent Studio Bee’s Bliss

I love this one and will never run out! I have to work 2-3 hours on Saturday, hopefully no more than that, to assist on a pilot. I told the one running it to make sure she finds a person to do what I’ll be doing because it really is not part of my job.

I wish the news was better for Ukraine. We’ve had at least one employee who went back to Ukraine to help his parents and he got drafted.

Oh gosh! Did he anticipate he would get drafted? Praying he will be safe.. I really wish everyone could be safe.

You know, we heard it here that adult males 18-60 will be volunteered. My only conclusion is blood is thicker than water.

Posting rather late today! Mr. Jalapeno and I took a day trip down to Atlantic City for a boat show. We got home about an hour ago.

SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EdP, for being back in public again. We were masked up, but most of the people in attendance were not. I figured a little perfume armor couldn’t hurt.

We had our boat show about 2 weeks ago, which seemed early to me.

Got my taxes prepared tonight along with my son. Total ugh!
Fortunately I stopped by Sephora and they are now carrying Killian. I am drenched in Black Phantom and Apple Brandy. Lol. I was able to get samples. I also got one of Good Girl gone bad. I have tried it before and wasn’t wowed but thought I would try again.
