Happy Friday! It's also George Harrison's birthday. Our community project for today: tell us a favorite George Harrison or Beatles song and wear the fragrance that matches the song. (Adapted from a suggestion by Old Herbaceous. We did a similar project for John Lennon in 2020.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Aftelier Ancient Resins for Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) from the 1973 album Living in the Material World.
Reminder: on 3/4, to mark Women's History Month, wear a perfume by your favorite female perfumer. (In 2018 we marked the occasion by wearing a fragrance by perfumer Germaine Cellier or Josephine Catapano.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I’m wearing Dark Horse from Dame. I was more interested in thunking another empty decant, than in a George Harrison song, but I did find out that he had an album called Dark Horse.
How perfect!
Serendipitous points are still points 🙂
Hi! I love these posts! I was torn between What Is Life and Something. I went with Something and am wearing Jicky because I read that Patty Body wore it.
I meant Boyd, not Body!
What is Life is one of my very favorite songs. I can picture Pattie Boyd in Jicky! Plus you smell great.
Not a huge Beatles fan: I mean, I know a bunch of their tunes, but I don’t own any albums, not even best-of. They’re fine (although I can never help thinking of John Waters’ dismissal of them as “those four honkies who ruined rock ‘n roll”).
“Here Comes the Sun” is a pretty good Harrison-penned tune, and so I’m wearing Guerlain’s sunshine-on-the-beach Terracotta Voile d’Ete on this laceratingly cold day. It has a glow to it. It’s kind of magic.
Pyramus, Jon Bon Jovi did a really good cover of Here Comes the Sun after the election; I imagine George giving it his stamp of approval. It’s on You Tube somewhere; very sunny and optimistic, I occasionally play it when a need a little pick-me-up.
I’ll look for it!
LOLing at John Waters calling anybody a honky. ?
This!
He’s a huge fan of old-school blues and rock, and he was annoyed that a bunch of white folks (not just the Beatles) took it and mainstreamed it for a white audience. He wrote and directed Hairspray: he knew what was going on in the world of music in the fifties and sixties.
Song today is Here Comes the Sun, paired with L’Artisan Seville l’Aube. This scent is a summer staple for me so I’m interested in getting out in the cold to see how it performs in the winter.
You smell great ringthing!
Nice! Seville a l’Aube is the first orange-flower scent I ever loved — I suddenly *got* it as a perfume note in a way I never had before.
Seville also sparked my love (mostly) for orange blossom!
So many great tunes – how to choose?! I love music as much as I love fragrance, so the struggle is real for me. What a beautiful smorgasbord for the senses life can be! For some reason, I kept thinking of Norwegian Wood, so here I am with Andy Warhol Silver Factory on one wrist and Rag & Bone Encens on the other. Isn’t it good indeed!
Also, thanks so much for another great SOTD challenge, Robin. This one was particularly fun! ?
I agree, I especially like the music related CPs.
Aren’t they fun? I am the geekiest of the geeky when it comes to both perfume and music. Bring it on!
I’m glad. I think the community might be split on both visual and auditory projects 🙂
Tell us about Rag & Bone Incense, please…
Ok, this is a lightweight GH song, but it fits many a perfumista quest for the rare, discontinued, limited edition, yadda yadda: Set on You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_71w4UA2Oxo
How many of us want a fragrance that will take patience, time and plenty of money to obtain? Wearing Shalimar MVP, which I should just forget about once I’m done with a decant (already own Mexique, for Pete’s sake).
You smell lovely! And what a great choice of song!
Ha! Good match!
Very witty! ???
Morning all!
I’m wearing Bois d’Armenie for All Things Must Pass.
Nice, I like that.
Great choice.
Friday! I woke up to a layer of fluffy snow covering everything. It is actually quite pretty, and if it’s going to snow, I’d rather have it light and fluffy than heavy and wet. Warming this weekend, so it will probably melt.
I’m in Lea. I accidentally broke the sprayer so I had to use a pipette to draw some up and transfer it to a decant. At least I found a way to get to it! I tried to pliers the top off but couldn’t get it. I’m matching it to Something.
I know I’ve told this story before… my college bestie and I had tickets to see Natalie Merchant in Chicago on the day George Harrison died. At the end of the concert she sang the most beautiful version of Something, and dedicated it to George. I couldn’t name the individual songs she sang that night, but I remember that one.
I like that story! And I forget everything so you can repeat it as many times as you like.
We woke up to rain, and ice on all the trees — already melting though, with a satisfying crackling sound out my window.
Reversed engineered the CP, and chose Une Amourette Roland Mouret to wear today. After poking around a list of George Harrison song’s, I’ve landed on Savoy Truffle for its mix of Savile Row and High Street rock appeal. That’s the best I can do!
I adore reverse-engineered CPs…
Fav song has always been My Guitar Gently Weeps. It’s a sad song but I don’t feel sad today. I’m in TF Tobacco Vanille, also a fav.
I liked their later music best, not so much the pop.
Have heard it on the radio already today…did not make me sad either. It was a cover, though, by a woman whose name I did not catch.
I’m going to go with Here Comes the Sun, too – probably the easiest/most obvious to pair. I’m wearing Olympic Orchids Golden Cattleya – late afternoon sun.
Golden Cattleya as late afternoon sun is perfect.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vPnLXjx5qOg
Dame Perfumery
I thought you were punking because despite hitting the Skip Ads button, “It’s not easy being green continued to play” ?. And then Dark Horse came up and all was right with the world. Of course if you bring back the 3-eyed owl (even temporarily this weekend), it will be even better…
Lol!
Do it!!!!!
Good morning and TGIF!
Forgot about the CP and went for Rose D’Amalfi so no points for me today. But I enjoy reading about everyone’s pairings.
Currently drinking lavender tea with a splash of milk.
Do you love Rose D’Amalfi?
I do! It’s a lovely pale pink rose.
Glad to hear it! I sampled all three but bought the TF rose de chine lipstick. Which is very lovely.
I have the travel kit of three in several different shopping carts. Alas, there was no discount at the house of many fragrances and cosmetics when I departed last week. Oh well, all in due time.
No shame in wearing the perfume that you really wanted to!
It’s a chilly but sunny day, before the usual warm(er), rainy weather returns. Wearing that cashmere cardy of a perfume, Ambre des Merveilles.
Good grief, was today’s wordl ever vicious. Well, a Phew counts as a win, as with life in general.
Yes it does!
I have SADLY been playing Hello Wordl too, and while I was better off only playing once a day, the extra practice has helped, especially since I am adamant about starting with the same 3 words every time.
I’m wearing Bronze Goddess for Here Comes the Sun, a song that I suspect will be a popular choice of song today.
Ooh, that is a really great pairing!?
This may alarm true GH fans, but I chose “I Got my Mind Set on You”, even though it’s a cover, and even though its lyrics are goofy. The music video was the first I ever saw (I was 4), when my dad, a true audiophile, was watching MTV, and I was delighted by the moving scenery and talking taxidermy!
I chose Diptyque Vetyverio for an equally personal reason: I’ve been wearing a ton of Diptyque lately, so I guess my mind is set on there brand.
Happy weekend, everyone!
Ugh. The* brand.
I love that song
I paired Here Comes The Sun with What I Did On My Holidays, to get some sunny vibes. I think many of us will wear a sunny scent today to match this song. Now i sprayed Orange Sanguine on top of it, which is not too bad.
Oh nice!
Coyoacan from Fantome for Here Comes the Sun. It’s a bright happy scent on me
That one sounds really nice!
We too had snow overnight. I went to bed late…I’ve been bingeing Downtown Abbey recently…and noticed the snow coming down so softly and beautifully as I turned lights off. We’d already gotten almost an inch. Woke up to 5-6 inches, which means a deck shoveling is in order. It’s sunny and very pretty out, with some snow still clinging to the trees. There are tracks in the fresh snow along the edge of our woods. Likely our various deer that stop by.
Since it’s sunny, I went with Jour Ensolleille for Here Comes the Sun. Undoubtedly the same pairing I did last time we had a Beatles-themed CP. This is a desert island scent for me.
I thought about that pairing. Love both scent and song
I was going to binge the newer Gilded Age (NYT: “a dime store Downton Abbey”) and then realized they did not release them all at once. Boo hiss on HBO!
With all due respect for Mr. Harrison, I’ve never been a Beatles fan. Wearing a few splashes of SMN Caprifoglio for its easy-breezy sunshiney gladness, and watching the frost slowly melt as the sun advances across the yard. I got a pretty darn good night’s sleep last night, but woke up with a headache, so planning a gentle day of working from home, interspersed with making minestrone (Littles’ favorite dinner…)
Nice…hope the headache is gone by the time the soup is ready!
YUM! Homemade minestrone is the best.
So says the little man in my life! It’s amazing that gussied up beans can bring him so much joy.
Sometimes the finer things in life have humble origins.
Oh no with the headache! I just came across this article. The comments were better than the article itself. I hope you don’t hit a pay wall.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/23/well/live/morning-headaches.html
Jicky! Back in the sixties there was a magazine called 16. My best friend and I were faithful readers of all things Beatles and copied their girlfriend’s hair and makeup as much as our meagre budgets (and mothers!) would allow. George’s girlfriend Pattie Boyd had a monthly article in it and she mentioned that she wore a fragrance called Jicky. She said it had a musky smell that she liked. I always remembered it and several years later, when my budget allowed, I bought my first bottle. My best friend travelled to Bermuda years later and bought me a bottle from the Guerlain shop there.
It is still special to me and the last bottle I received was given by her for my birthday two years ago.
We are both 70 now and Jicky has been in my life for over 50 years!
My sister and I read 16 with a passion.
Lovely story!
What a wonderful connection
You are twins with acrosbie above 🙂
Great story! I loved 16 magazine for all things Scott Baio and John Travolta!
Also, all the references to Here Comes the Sun are reminding me of another, similarly titled M. Ward song that I adore:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oARKRB6hJX8
I’m going a different direction than everyone else, I guess. I’m wearing La Curie Ossuary for “Art of Dying.” Otherwise I was trying to think of a good scent to go with “Isn’t It a Pity,” particularly the Nina Simone cover. But…it’s cleaning day and I’m single-parenting and so I had to get out of the house quickly and leave it tidy, so I went with the easier one. 🙂
You smell amazing! Ossuary is such a beautiful, unique fragrance.
I love the Nina Simone cover of Isn’t it a Pity…and extra points because it was her birthday earlier in the week.
Congrats about your tween’s new school! Boy was that good news to see. I am so happy for you all and I hope you celebrated ?
Thanks so much! Yeah, it was a long string of struggle and rejections to get here, but if the only school you get into was your first choice to start with, it all works out. 🙂
That was the best detail ? but I was also so happy to read about your tween being musical. Music engrossed me in my teen years and it kept me busy, happy and safe. I wish the same happiness for your daughter ❤️
I chose SL Cuir Mauresque for the CP, in a nod to Harrison’s exploration of and deep respect for Eastern music and theologies. Plus, I bet it would have smelled great on him.
Excellent choice
Aromatics Elixir today, one of the great perfumes of the seventies paired with the two remaining Beatles plus Eric Clapton who married George’s wife. There are many great versions of this song but on this one EC and Paul McCartney’s voices sing in perfect harmony and we also get George’s son.
https://youtu.be/CrTMc2i6Lzc
Thank you for posting that uplifting video. It was a beautiful example of what art can do when let loose in the world without suppression, judgement, or censorship.
You are most welcome, I adore it and you are absolutely right this tribute is uplifting, George was such an advocate for peace too.
Wow. I just watched that video twice, followed by the one with Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, and Prince (which also includes George’s son). Not sure which one I liked better — I have a serious soft spot for Clapton, but the enjoyment on Prince’s face is just priceless.
I hesitated too ? but it was the harmony of EC and PMcC which won in the end.
I got goosebumps. Thanks for sharing the link.
So glad you enjoyed it.
Nice one Aurora! This probably is my favorite GH song. Depending on my mood as sometimes it can make me very sad.
I understand but I hope today it won’t make you sad, Deva noted this rendition is rather uplifting, they are all enjoying performing so much.
It is truly one of the most powerful/ emotional songs of the classic rock era.
I’ve watched this video before and have enjoyed it each time I’ve done so. Thanks for posting it.
I’m drinking hottish coffee, finishing crispity crunchy sourdough toast and wearing a smear of BPAL Snake Oil that I bought probably 10 or 11 years ago. It has become unctuous and dark, and smears on the skin like Black Magic. To say it’s aged well is an understatement. Potent and powerful, I’m hoping it will get my rear in gear.
I have done nothing all week except rest my knee and eat ibuprofen, which my kidneys don’t appreciate. I’m back to work tonight and not looking forward to it.
Sorry George, I’ve had no brain space to match your music with a perfume this week…
I missed it. What happened to your knee?
Oh you didn’t really miss anything. I never mentioned it because it so stupid. I was in a patient’s room on Sunday, turned around and got my ankles tangled in 02 tubing that was on the floor and went down like a ton of bricks. Hit my head too, but of course that’s fine considering the density of my skull. The poor patient was beside himself trying to get out of bed to help. And yeah, he was not an ambulatory patient, so at least I convinced him to stay in bed! ?
Oh such a misadventure, your description of the patient made me smile though, that reflex of good people wanting to help no matter their circumstances ?.
Oh no! And it’s such a scary moment when you feel yourself going down and know that it’s going to hurt.
Dang Deva. I hope tonight goes easy on you.
So did I, your poor knee, hope it’s not too early to be back at work.
Your SOTD sounds absolutely devine!I wish BPAL were more accessible over here!
Careful of those O2 tubes!??✌?
damn girl, be careful.
Ouch! I hope you call in sick if you aren’t quite ready to go in tonight.
Your fragrance sounds amazing.
Yikes. Take it easy, eh.
I hope you feel better soon! Be careful with the ibuprofen, don’t take it on an empty stomach?
Ouch!
I’m with you on the knee. Sending you healing thoughts!
Feeling woody today, so I’m wearing DS & Durga Bowmakers layered over B&BW Bonfire Bash lotion. Yum. Let’s call it Norwegian Wood.
You smell good. I have the body wash of Bowmakers which, unfortunately, did not live to the promise of the perfume. Bonfire Bash is super.
I am not familiar enough with George Harrison’s music to do a good match. However, I do love the song Layla ( which he has a connection to in a round about way) I found this super group version featuring George and England’s other finest rock musicians.
https://youtu.be/_MvepbhoVGg
I am matching it with Coco. ( because it is also great!)
That’s a wonderful version, Lillyjo, they seem to be having a lot of fun, we both thought of the George/Eric unconventional connection via Pattie Boyd.
Lillyjo, Wikipedia can be your friend in cases like this!
George is my favorite Beatle even though I was born slightly too late to be in on full-bore Beatlemania. “All Things Must Pass” is just wonderful, and I love the whole album. I’m wearing Roberto Cavalli Oro, and although I could pair it with “Here Comes the Sun” I’d rather go with “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” The pairing makes no sense except in my mind.
Late reply, but so glad to see someone else who likes George best 🙂
I needed something very gentle today, so I have worn Infusion d’Amande and am pairing it with My Sweet Lord. My sample is almost thunked.
Sending hugs, and peaceful thoughts. That is a wonderful song.
I can appreciate the music of the Beatles and George Harrison, but cannot say I have anything in my collection of music(maybe a cover of a song, but I cannot really say)
You all smell fabulous today!
SOTD!
Chanel Boy.Because George is a boy?Boy George? There must be a connection if you think long enough…haha!
Happy Friday friends.
XO’s??❣️
Sure! You smell good so that’s what counts!
Works for me!
I think back in the day The Beatles were referred to as “The Boys from Liverpool”, so your scent pick works very well!
There it is!!
And you just jolted my memory of a visit to the Beatles museum in Liverpool when I was living in Manchester!Ha!
XO’s
Spent the morning at the New York library on 5th. There is a beautiful exhibit called Intersects for anyone who likes graphic novels and bugs. My girlfriend and I needed a distraction from world events so we decided to spent the morning together in that beautiful building
Home, enjoying chai tea.
Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend ☮️ ✌️
That sounds like the perfect way to spend a morning. I looked it up and what an amazing show. I love how the artists started his project during the Covid period so had the library to himself.
https://www.nypl.org/events/exhibitions/intersects
I downloaded the colouring pages. Thanks for sharing your day!
Amazing right?
Enjoy!
If you attended the exhibit the pamphlet turns into a very cool poster
12 hours sleep. the best.
The Beatles and Bob Dylan are the soundtrack to my life.
It feels like 5 minutes ago my sister and I were mesmerized with them on The Ed Sullivan Show.
post shower will be Tauer Sundowner. just cause it’s beautiful.
I was so happy to read about your sister’s recent@ visit, apsara. I have recently fallen in love with Bob Dylan (I didn’t grow up with his music, but Mr Dolce did and we’ve been having such wonderful conversations and listening to a lot of great music). Wishing you a beautiful day, and all the best with your future plans after finishing your recent work with that house of fragrances! I hope this at least means no dreadfully early mornings for you for a while. I love sleep so much!
thank you DV! I love sleep so much. My new project starts at 8am on Monday. Very reasonable, methinks.
Oh good, that is so much better than a 5am start! Wishing you the best of luck with your new venture ?
Sotd is Timbuktu and I’m pairing it with Give Me Love because I love it and I am grateful for the swap.
Also, I might have already mentioned this and I’m guessing many of you have seen Get Back, the Peter Jackson documentary. He edited 100+ hours of music and 60+ hours of film taken of the Beatles toward the end of their time as a band. It’s one of the most phenomenal pieces of history (e.g. watching Paul write Let It Be and George writing I Me Mine after it came to him the night before).
I love that song.
Yes — it’s long, but I really enjoyed it. When you see it at that length, you see the joy and frustration of the creative process.
You smell wonderful!
Oops prior reply is a stray. I meant to say that I was very moved by Get Back. It’s a wonderful chronicle about creativity, particular the joys and struggles of collaboration.
If I owned it I would wear Un Jardin Apres La Mousson. Harrison’s connection to India but also to gardening. I read that he dedicated his autobiography to gardeners and was most happy in his own extensive garden. I could do with his help ( or that of his ten gardeners) here as our patch has become choked with aluminium plant ( artillery plant) . Raining and I’m watching the greenfinches on my sunflowers, trying to extract seeds. Wearing Breath of God for My Sweet Lord.
Anything that is named “artillery plant” sounds like it *has* to be a noxious weed!
I’ve got a hair appointment later this morning, it’s been rescheduled because the stylists are working split rosters to minimise the impact of Omicron. We’ve kept COVID largely at bay for two years, but it’s here now and we’re in the exponential growth of cases that other countries have seen. At least nearly everyone is double vaxxed and huge numbers have had boosters.
Meanwhile, I think I’ll wear 24 Faubourg to the appointment, it seems to compete well with potent hair chemicals 🙂
Glad you don’t have to go near the stinky protesters today.
https://shoponcarroll.org.nz/products/blue-perfume-pattern-dress-size-s
Saw this on the shop on Carroll website and thought of you.
It even has Amouage bottles on the fabric! Classy
Fantastic!
What I loved most about George Harrison was his embrace of Indian culture, music and spirituality. And I can’t think of a song better suited to today’s needs – especially given the current events in Eastern Europe – than his ‘Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)’ and that is my choice for today’s cp. And I’m pleased to join Robin today and others earlier this week who also chose it! Please, world, give me ❤️ and give me ☮️!!!
I’ve paired it with Pacifica Mountain Temple Incense, meditative and soothing. A yoga class this morning, this song (which has now become a welcome earworm for me), and this scent provided a much-needed dose of comfort today after watching too much of yesterday’s events.
Wishing ❤️ and ✌️ to all this weekend. ?
(A very late) hey twin, and you smelled great yesterday! I miss Mountain Temple.
Wearing Atelier Silver Iris today, paired with Go Back. I’m back home after a ridiculously long return flight back; SI greeted me (I may have made a purchase after the talk of Atelier leaving Canada).
Still feeling a bit discombobulated in my own house. I couldn’t even find the coffee this morning. I’m making a lazy cabbage roll casserole because I’m needing some comfort food. And I’ll probably respray some Silver Iris in a while.
Hmm..looks like auto-correct was at it again. Should have been “Get Back”.
Welcome back! And “bleep you” to Autocorrect…
Thank you, Jalapeno! I sure wasn’t a fan of the weather we came back to; the perfume took the edge off that!
It seems that most of the country has been on a weather roller coaster lately. So you might not have to wait long for things to change towards something you like better.
Wearing PG Cozé 02. Beware of Darkness came to mind, although I don’t think of this perfume as dark, really.
I’d like to give a shout at to something SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT*: Harrison’s career as one of the 20th centiry’s most important film makers. Harrison is personally credited on 25 movies, but his influence is greater than that. While in the Beatles, his movie making began with the oft-imitated-never-equaled Hard Days Night. My favorite scene is Harrison’s-he wonders into ad agency, where a “youth specialist” who is too clueless to recognize the true youth leader and superb fashionista visiting him.Yellow Submarine was the first full length animation that broke from the Disney cutesy aesthetic. The Beatles also created the first abstract music video, before there was MTV to show them.
After the Beatles dissolved, Harrison invented the multi superstar concert fund raiser by organizing and filming the Concert For Bangladesh.
Several years later, he founded Handmade Films, originally to help Monty Python make Life Of Brian. Handmade Films produced a number of classics including Mona Lisa, and some brilliant truly original films such as A Private Function and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Unfortunately, massive cost overruns and a contract which forbade using scenes with Robin Williams, Harrison to close production of further films.
I am wearing Roja Dov Creation (Men) in honor of Harrison’s creativity in so many field and levels, and in honor of his apparent love for classic British tailoring which is evident in even his fashion forward outfits.
*A Monty Python catch-phrase used to cut off skits after the funniest lines.
Thank you so much for adding to knowledge and appreciation of GH.
GH was a great hyphen artist- just brilliant!
Loving the Monty Python reference! ?
Trying Rose Prick today for Olivia Harrison’s comment in the documentary about Harrison that the secret to a long marriage is you don’t get divorced. And I don’t mean that as a dig at GH — I love his music, it’s just an acknowledgement of how clever OH is since it seems like she doesn’t always get her due.
That said, turns out I don’t like RP. It opens with a fantastic jammy rose, but then it becomes a minty patchouli, with the rose taking a giant step back and morphing in to powdery petals; no more jam. This hung out for a while, and later the mint hovers between “is this mint or is this scheuan pepper doing that numbing thing?” with the patchouli staying prominent the whole time. I wish I could get opening as a fragrance on its own. Oh well, maybe I’ll have better luck with one of new TF roses.
*sichuan* pepper Ugh. My spelling skillz wane as the week goes by.
Hmmmmmmmmmm. I am intrigued by your description of Rose Prick!
I shall save the rest of my sample to give you when we finally do a NJ meet up to drink our patchouli soda (which reminds me – I need find some patchouli seeds to plant soon).
Sounds like a plan!
I’m not a huge Beatles fan (I like them just don’t typically go out of my way to listen to their albums), but my college roommate who is still one of my closest friends has always been a big fan. My parents never played their music when I grew up, so my biggest exposure to their music was via living with Sally all through college. So I’m wearing Infusion d’Iris Absolu because the regular version was her signature scent for years. I don’t think she wears perfume these days, but I’m always reminded of her when I wear it. We live far apart so I miss being able to see her regularly.
That’s an unusual association but I like it and your SOTD!
Thanks! I’ve had such bad sinus issues that I probably shouldn’t have sprayed any on my chest this morning, so I’m glad my nose is handling perfume better at the moment.
Friday, sunny and cold.
1)Am late to this: SOTD is Love by Beauty Pie, combined with Boucheron for a diverse, warm and all encompassing scent- something I think George Harrison would have embraced, just as he embraced Hindu arts and spirituality, just as he embraced all the facets of being an artist.
2) My company has offices in Europe, and many Ukrainains who work for us in Ukraine, The USA and Canada. The past few days of Putin’s Midlife Crisis ™ have been horrid.
3) To stay centered, I am doing my Pilates while listening to various koans and speeches by Alan Watts!
#2 – I hope the employees are safe. We don’t have anyone in Ukraine but have Ukrainian nationals who work in Poland. We have offices in Russia and we’re just as concerned about the employees there.
Song of the day, in honor of George, is “Here Comes The Sun”, in spite of the somber news today; scent of the day, to go with it, is Penhaligon’s Ostara, the fragrance of yellow daffodils! I paired them with a favorite video on my blog, here: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2022/02/25/perfume-chat-room-february-25/.
Great pairing! I should look for my bottle.
Oh, I’ve been admiring the daffodils in my yard and completely failing to remember to wear this one in their honour! I’ll be sure to remedy this over the weekend.
Great plan! I may wear it all weekend long!
Songs of the Day:

One is from the birthday boy himself, and the other is an amazing cover by Oasis.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Mistral Patchouli, thanks to one of you wonderful NSTers. Because to me patchouli = The Beatles. This one is more of a spring/summer weight patch, though. Today’s rain and cold wind kind of overpowered it.
You can always think Spring! I went to the Dollar Store although I should check to see if that is still the name. I got a $1.25 door decor with a bunny holding a sign with the word Spring and it’s already gracing my door.
Not quite ready to think of Spring… that means shedding season for the cats! I’ve already seen one cat-hair tumbleweed in the house recently.
Smelling fab!??
???????
Oh, please waft my way, you smell good! Mistral Patchouli was one of the best that AC has done, along with Sous le Toit de Paris, and those two were the first ones discontinued, iirc. 🙁
I thought that Mistral Patchouli came back for a little while? But it’s a moot point, since Atelier Cologne has decided to leave North America.
I miss George.
Favorite song is Give Me Love. Which seems especially appropriate considering the news of the world.
Like Jalapeno, my SOTD is also AC Mistral Patchouli.
Hello there Scent Twin! Nice to have company!
I’m confident 1970s George would appreciate our shared choice!
If you would waft my way along with Jalapeno, that would be very nice. 🙂
???! Now I’ve got an Aerosmith earworm! ???
LOL!
From 1979 “Love Comes to Everyone”. Eric Clapton plays the guitar intro and you will recognize Steve Winwood playing the moog! After I saw those pictures on Tuesday of George and his tea cups I decided to wear Bvlgari au The Bleu.
I also really want to get a garden gnome! ???
Funny that you mentioned garden gnome! I was at both Home Goods and Marshall’s and I kept thinking I can’t get away from gnomes. I started noticing gnomes in the fall and they just kept popping up for all the holidays.
Haha! I think you’re right! I just watched Ozark Season 4 and there was a scene outside the house with Wendy arguing with (I think) Marty all above the watchful gaze of a garden gnome at the front door!
Right now at work we are selling Valentines, St. Patrick’s and Easter gnomes!
That sounds kinda disturbing, IMO.
SOTD = DSH Scent of Hope
I am giving myself full credit for participating in the CP. I am pairing Scent of Hope with “Here Comes the Sun”, like many of us have done with an interesting mix of scents!

To the person who was looking for a non-current version of Chanel No. 5 EDT, please let me know here or email me. I will post this same question tomorrow in case the person is a weekend only reader/commenter.
I feel like a human being again with my haircut! It was a month overdue and I was thisclose to cutting my bangs because they got very long!
I also ended up getting a new laptop for work. I hope the reimbursement from work is still available but even if not, I needed to get a new one anyway. Now to set it up…maybe I’ll do it this weekend.
That “Flower Power” owl is perfect for today’s CP! ??
Great picture!
Is your work laptop a pc? I had just gotten approval to order a new one, when my old one really bit the dust (couldn’t be super-glued back together ?). I had been told that it would take 6-8 weeks for the order to come in, but given my dire situation, the IT guys somehow wrangled me a new one. How long did you have to wait for yours to arrive? I also need to get a new laptop for home, and am seriously considering going with a Mac.
Hello dear perfume people! I have missed you for the past few weeks but I will be back regularly from Monday. Wearing Mitsouko today as Bois de Jasmine mentioned it recently and I wanted to wear something for her. I want everyone in this world to be able to live in peace. Best wishes to you all.
Welcome back!
Thank you Jalapeno! It’s really late here but I can’t sleep so I’ve been catching up on the past few weeks’ comments instead. Have just read last Saturday’s post. Sending you hugs.
Thanks. Hugs are always appreciated.
What a nice idea — I’ve been thinking of Victoria too this week.
Thank you OH! I owe almost all I know about Ukraine’s culture and history to her posts. I’m learning Russian at the moment and my teacher is from Kyiv. It is deeply distressing.
I agree. Tragic.
