Well, National Almond Day just decided my sotd, Hypnotic Poison. I’m going to be thunking my vintage bottle soon, I tend to hang on to the last few drops of a perfume that I know has been radically reformulated but those almost empty bottles are taking up too much space.

Bois 1920 Sutra Ylang, just a drop. Big fat floral oriental with lots of spice, a bit too bright and modern to have that seventies/eighties feel — you couldn’t mistake it for anything vintage — but still a throwback to the powerhouse scents of that era like Opium and Coco.
I have an evaporating decant of Sutra Ylang. I really like it so am not sure why I don’t wear it?
Use it up before it’s gone! I speak from experience.
I’m off the cp today, so maybe I’ll double up tomorrow. Wearing FM Vetiver Extraordinaire and headed across town to see my sisters, for a day of thrifting and seeing what other mischief we can get into.

With the sun out today I decided to do my makeup.
Chantecaille Hummingbird quad-but I only used two shadows, and the Radiance cheek in coral.
I love the packaging that Chantecaille does. I don’t have any of their products but I love the animal themed packaging. Do they donate a certain % to animal charities, or is it just that they have a wonderful designer for their products?
Deva, they donate to several different groups and visit them often.
One of the groups they support is to save pangolins from being the most trafficked animal on earth.
Last night I used their Rose de Mai face cream at bedtime.

It really is addicting and I am very glad they only let you do one a day, or it would be yet another time drain. The New Yorker started doing an online crossword, then there were 2 a week, and now 3, and yes I do all 3, ha.

No, I think the fact that they limit the word to five letters makes is achievable for most people who are interested. I made it in 3 steps today as well.
I did look on YouTube because I had no idea how to play. I saw that some words would be a bit more difficult depending on word origin. The one mention in the video was a word common in the UK but rarely used in the US. So, I think it just depends…
When I was in my early 20s, I had a job for about a year that was not busy. I mean, there were times I literally had nothing to do. We got the Washington Post and The NY Times each day. I did both crosswords every day. On Mondays, I did the Saturday, Sunday and Monday ones…. I got very good at them, but haven’t really done them in years now. Love Wordle and am glad it’s just once a day.

Wearing the last wafts of Ambre Aurea today, which I sprayed last night before bedtime. Yummy goodness, and perfect because they’re predicting snow tonight.
I’ve been a little concerned about the snakes waking early here because it been so unseasonably warm the past week or two. However, next week, the predictions are teens at night and low 40’s during the day. Hoping that chill will send the snakes back to sleep, otherwise T-Rex will always need to be on a leash and our hiking will be limited to very wide heavily traveled trails- most likely the Rails to Trails through the Granite Dells.
Last year at the tail end of my contract, I was camped up on the side of a mountain about 6000’ and stepped in some brush to get a better shot of the sunset when I heard that ominous rattle. I high stepped out of those bushes at the speed of light! Thankfully T-Rex was on her long lead which didn’t reach anywhere near the grass and brush because being the nosey dog she is, she would have gone and investigated that sound. ?
In other news no one cares about, I woke up this morning with the whole left side of my face red and irritated. It almost feels like a sunburn. Can’t imagine what the issue is because I haven’t don’t anything different with skin care, besides which if it was a reaction, it would of course be all over my entire face. Very weird.

Yes, I do have mild allergies to scented detergent, but the usual reaction is grossly swollen eye lids and lips. Like, grotesque! I switched to non-scented (no added anything) detergent years ago because of that. And I sleep on my right side, which was the unaffected side. Good guess though!
I was allergic to the L’Occitane Divine Cream and I had an angry red patch on one side of my chin.
Did you use it all over your face? And only that one are was irritated? I did try a new moisturizer last night, but dismissed it as being the culprit because I used it all over my face…?
Maybe it rubbed off on your pillow case and that’s why only the non-pillow case side was affected?

Taking partial CP points for Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum which I remember smelling in store a long time ago when it was new. It also has an almond note so points for that, however unwittingly. I remember liking it back then but apparently felt no need to buy it. Possibly too mature for me at that time. I wonder how much it has changed all these years? Also, I prefer the older packaging. I’m a bit tired of the plain bottle aesthetic.

Re: the CP, I’ve been away from home for a while, so limited access to samples. We drove (rather than fly), and at the time, I was mimimizing the load. As it happens, though, plans changed, and we’ve extended our time here. It’s pretty clear that perfume wasn’t the place to be stingy. ? I’ve missed both my perfume and crafting collections.
So, scent-wise, I started the day with some Demeter Dandelion. I love it for the green notes. It doesn’t last terribly long, and I haven’t gotten around to reapplying or choosing something else.

In other You Learn Something New Everyday news, I thought that the notary public at a bank can notarize any document. Apparently, a bank notary public whose commission is paid for by the bank and does his / her notary work on bank premises during business hours cannot notarize estate-related documents, but can if the notary work is done elsewhere and not part of the job. ? because a commission is a commission … you don’t get multiple ones unless you are doing the work in several states. This doesn’t make sense to me because banks are usually one of the sources of estate funds for distribution! In any case, I will be using the notary who works out of a convenience store…

Attars are almost always primarily oils but I could be wrong. Parfums are more concentrated but may have alcohol.
It’s an oil perfume, with no alcohol.

Testing the last of my Dusita samples today, so CP point for me. Ending on a high note with this one. Green, fresh, and crisp, but surprising not bitter, with galbanum, artemisia, oakmoss, and some clean patchouli and orange blossom in the background. I’m not getting the leather, but I’m OK with that bc I like what I am getting. I imagine this is what mint would smell like if it didn’t have the cooling effect. It is an immediate skin scent on me, but that’s OK too. I know she doesn’t make lotions or soaps, but if she did, this is the one where I would buy the full suite of products and layer up.
My Log Cabin tea, with peppercorns and almonds works for Almond Day, but that was serendipitous. I’ll switch to Celestial Seasonings Almond tea later. I’m pretty sure it has artificial almond flavoring, but I love it all the same. And looking forward to my second stained glass class tonight.

They’re really well done I think.The Vanilla and Musk ones are also gorgeous,and I got Deja Vu White Flower in their hair perfume format.Very potent.
I love the discovery sets,and the rollerballs where you get 2 different 5ml perfumes in one “set” is nice for layering as well.Well priced in my opinion!

Is Amber Nude much different from the original Youth Dew? I have the original bath oil that I use as a scent from time to time.
YDAN is less spicy, more amber-y. and has a bit of “space” between the notes, if that makes any sense. You could think of it as a summer flanker to Youth Dew.
Well my new weather report has my snow accumulation down to 1-3 inches. Lot’s of rain tonight with a flash freeze in the morning.
I am testing Santal Kardamon for the first time today. I definitely get the sandalwood. Plus a sweetness. I was enjoying it until the drydown. That’s when it turned very woody on me.
What level of woody can you tolerate?
I don’t have much experience with woody notes, so I am not sure. I did realize that the base reminded me of Scents of Wood Cedar in Acacia. Similarly, I liked until the drydown.

Well I have been testing quite some lately as I received my perfume purchases. Today wearing Santal Volcanique by Maison Crivelli which has arrived recently. Very elegant, very balanced, actually pretty darn gorgeous. Ummmm lovely.
