Happy Almost-Friday and happy National Carrot Cake Day! Birthdays: Charles Henry Turner, Gertrude Stein, Alvar Aalto, Mabel Mercer, Simone Weil, Nathan Lane. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Serge Lutens Rousse.
Reminder: on 2/4, to welcome the Year of Tiger, wear a fragrance that projects or inspires power, bravery, self-confidence and ambition.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: shown is this year's Lunar New Year stamp from the U.S. Postal Service. "Art director Antonio Alcalá worked on the series of stamps with artist Camille Chew to create Lunar New Year imagery that is fresh, fun and celebratory. Calling to mind the elaborately decorated masks used in the dragon or lion dances often performed during Lunar New Year parades, Chew’s three-dimensional masks are a contemporary take on the long tradition of paper-cut folk art crafts created during this auspicious time of year."
Happy Thursday!
House twins with Robin in Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum today!
Oh boy,I do smell good!!
Heatwave hitting us very hard today, and I am loving it!
XO’s
You smell wonderful!
Thank you!?
Rahät Loukoum is so gorgeous! It’s a kind of balancing act — just exactly the right level of sweetness. I know some people think it’s too sweet but I think it’s perfect.
It is total perfection!
You smell wonderful! Rahat Loukoum is such a joyful perfume. I generally like my fragrances like I like my cocktails — dry, tart, bitter, sparkly, herbal, citrusy and floral but not sweet, but somehow the sweetness of Rahat Loukoum is just perfect. I’ve embarrassed myself by sniffing my arms while wearing it in meetings.
You’re not the only one, I’ve done that in meetings too.
Haha!
Oh,I’m a regular self-sniffer,and have done it quite a few times this week with what I’ve been wearing!
??
I have totally huffed my wrist in the presence of others. You are in good company! ?
LOL haha sniffing Your arms while in a meeting:)
Oh indeed you do smell good today 🙂
Thank you,so do you!??✌??
You smell great!
Been in a meeting since 6 AM. Fortunately, I am only here to “listen”! I’ve scented the early hour with She Was An Anomaly–day 2 for this one.
Good morning everyone!
Good afternoon!(16:50,weekend starts NOW!)
??✌?
Did you end up ordering the bottle?
(Whispers: I’d like to take the 5th . . . ) 😉
? Excellent.
Ugh, you deserve at least one new perfume for being in a meeting that long!
Good morning!
Sotd is Bond no.9 Gold Coast.
Currently drinking osmanthus oolong.
Oooo to carrot cake day. I looove carrot cake (and carrot cake cheesecake. Yes it’s as good as it sounds. Heaven.) but I am a purist when it comes what’s inside. No raisins or pineapple please. How about everyone?
I cannot stand raisins!
But carrot cheesecake sounds good!
If you hate raisins, which I totally get, have you tried dried cranberries? They serve the same function but texturally they’re so much nicer. I put them in a lot of things.
It’s totally the texture for me too,the same with dried cranberries unfortunately.
I also don’t eat bananas or avo,on the other side of the scale of unfortunate textures in my mouth!Haha!
Ha! I’m with you on food texture intolerance, but for me it’s things like Creme Brulee, or oysters/mussels/clams. I had a friend once who tried so very hard to get me to taste her Creme Brulee when we were out at a restaurant (ah, the before times…) I finally had to explain to her that I wasn’t being polite in declining a taste, I *really*really*really* did not want it.
Oh, that’s interesting! Raisins and cranberries have *vastly* different textures to me — raisins are what I think the British would call “squidgy” and can be very off-putting.
But yes, texture is crucial in food. Texture and temperature are almost more important than taste — they’re certainly just as important.
I’m with you on avocadoes. Can only eat small amounts of yogurt too.
I love carrot cake and I agree, no raisins or pineapple. I do like nuts in it, though.
I love carrot cake with nuts, pecans or walnuts please. So hard to find in my tiny rural town. Everybody is so scared of nut allergies, that most bakeries won’t put nuts in anything.
I don’t like carrot cake if it has ginger in it. I like ginger in some things, but my taste seems to be that sweet and ginger don’t work for me (nutmeg is my go-to replacement). And I am a raisin and nut fan – though I don’t think raisins add much to carrot cake. I would think the same about adding pineapple – why bother; just add nuts or more nuts.
Well, I’ll be the odd woman out, here — I love raisins and pineapple in carrot cake, plus walnuts. But I’m persnickety about the preparation of the carrots, which must be pre-cooked and puréed rather than shredded.
I like mine with pineapple.?
I must say,I’ve never actually had carrot cake with either pineapple nor raisins! It seems a strange concept to me!
I do love a certain sponge cake that a local deli makes, the layers contain a very delicious thick cream/syrupy pineapple concoction that is HIGHLY addictive!
Well I’m not a fan of raisins but the recipe I make calls for pineapple and I think it adds moisture, flavor and texture. Plus, a serving of vegetables and a serving of fruit then makes it healthfood, right??
Haha!Totally healthfood!(I like the idea of pineapple in a carrot cake!)
I’m good with raisins, nuts and pineapple, but I can’t take the shredded coconut. It’s the weird, squeaky texture that puts me off. I like coconut chips, like you see in granola. None of the fluffy stuff!
Oh, I agree — I love coconut, but encountering those little difficult-to-chew shoestringy bits in carrot cake is a no for me.
This is quite the lively discussion about carrot cake, of all things! Jumping in, yes to pineapple and coconut. Nuts would be great, preferably toasted pecans or walnuts, though I didn’t put them in my carrot cakes when my boys were little. Thumbs down to raisins, though I like them in other things. And a big YES to homemade cream cheese frosting!
I am quite happy with carrot cake containing pineapple, golden raisins, and/or walnuts. No coconut, please! And ?? to homemade cream cheese frosting. I’d also be fine with carrot cake cupcakes; you know, to keep portions at a somewhat reasonable size. ??
Mr. Jalapeno’s Gram made a wonderful carrot cake. I think that was the first version I ever had with pineapple in it, and I liked it a lot.
I am wearing Dans tes Bras that I was given at Christmas. I think it is a good everyday scent. Not so loud people are offended but nice enough for me to feel I am wearing something extra nice.
An aside- I am school teacher and I make cream cheese won tons with my class to celebrate Lunar New Year (we have to make cream cheese and scallion because so many are vegetarian) I love cooking and so many of them are never allowed to help in the kitchen. So we will be having a good crunchy time next Thursday cooking. They get to fill them and fold and I fry in an electric fry pan. I make a separate plate ot share in the staff room.
That sounds amazing!
That sounds so fun, I bet the kids love it.
Oh, wish I could come to school for that!
I am the most popular teacher for a day. I make a separate batch for teachers so they like it too.
Such a gorgeous perfume!I’ll wear mine in the Fall.
That’s so sweet of you to do that with your students! They will remember it, and you, I’m sure.
What a great classroom project!
I’m in Hermès Rocabar, which smells like a lumberjack, and is anyone more confident than a lumberjack? I think not!
what a description! I will have to seek this one out and smell it. I grew up around lumber jacks
I don’t know what it smells like nowadays, but the old bottle, the one wrapped in a tiny Hermès blanket with a leather cord belting it (look it up if you’ve never seen it), smells like a forestful of trees and their resins and then, as a surprise finale, rich vanilla, as if the lumberjack has been baking napoleons on his day off. It is sublime.
That sounds like “my perfect boyfriend”.??♂️??♂️??
that sounds so good to me
? Pyramus is a lumberjack and smells okay… ?
My boyfriend-elect is a sawyer and the smell of bar oil and two-stroke fuel always makes me feel like I’m being cuddled. ?
I was singing the same song!??
Monty Python for the win!! ??
Great minds think alike. 😉
I thunked another decant with Lancome Sikkim. This was a small decant that I ordered because it was the vintage formulation. I love it, but finding another vintage decant or fb is going to be difficult.
Well done! A non-decant week over here…
Right now I smell like Eau de Chili as I’m making both red and white chili today, want to freeze some of both. Listening to Joe Bonamassa, loud. After a shower, it will be Chanel No 5, which I’ve been craving lately. Definitely a fragrance of female power!
That sounds like so much fun – JB is sort of an inspiration, not just musically, but because he is so happy with what he does best!
And he’s keeping the blues alive!
JB is so great. I love his music, blues with a generous helping of rock.
TPC is having a 30% off By Kilian sale. Can anyone recommend some By Kilian scents worth trying?
Love don’t be shy is a great one,if you like a semi-sweet vanilla blanket-perfume!
Amber Oud, Single Malt, Love Don’t Be Shy and the Extreme version are my favorites.
SotD Fendi L’Acquarossa epd. Robin reviewed it: https://nstperfume.com/2013/11/19/fendi-lacquarossa-perfume-review/. I re-read the review and discovered the ad copy for the launch implied it would fit the CP (the bottle, too). I got it a couple years ago for $12 dollars or something like that. Later I picked up the Elixir flanker for a similar price. I like the bottle. Do I like, say, Asja more? Oh yes, but I think the L’Acquarossas are cheerful and for me a nice fruity-rosy departure from preferred heavies. A bit boring, but hey, I can own that! 😀 I really enjoyed reading the comments on the review, too.
Wow, forgot I had even reviewed that! For $12 I’d say you got a bargain.
Was in no 5 edt for a little bit this morning but now in Clinique Happy. The storm isn’t so bad yet. Hopefully it won’t be so crazy at work today. If people hear that there is anything more than 2 or 3 inches of snow, they panic and buy everything in the store.
Good luck Dawn, hope everyone stays calm!
I’ll likely be in Oeillet Bengale for the tiger idea. I’m guarding this travel spray closely, though, until (if) they rerelease it.
Another long day ahead here. I’d wish it to be Friday already, although I doubt that will change much and I’ll likely be working all weekend. (Turns out that all my new colleagues worked all last weekend and no one told me I needed to be working, too, so I started Monday on a breathless sprint.) This shouldn’t be a regular thing, though — and will be less of a regular thing if I can get in and start putting some intermediate deadlines into the process.
Ugh, that’s a bummer that you will likely be working all weekend too.
Joining you in a working weekend(only on standby, but already have a retinal surgery booked for 10:30 Saturday morning)
??
I’m wearing Papillon Dryad over Redwood Mist shower gel, so I smell like a walk in the woods. I love trees, and very seldom feel fear in a forest (although I do know to maintain situational awareness there!), so I feel somewhat CP-compliant.
Meanwhile, the painting and repair work continues. Lots of progress yesterday — I am beginning to see my color plan coming into being, and it looks good!
Mmm, if you smell like a walk in the woods, then you must smell great!
Glad your painting project is coming together nicely.
Thank you all so much for your warm and compassionate comments yesterday; they helped more than you know! Got a decent night’s sleep with the help of some prescribed medicine, although the 3-to-5am shift was a bit light and featured a dream that I’d met a guy who had a giant sequoia for an ancestor, and I had decided that we’d need to marry. Still feel horrible — I’m sure it’ll take some days to recover from the sleep deprivation of the past few weeks — but it’s a manageable level of horrible. Wearing Azemour for its head-clearing elegance and its reminder that someday it’ll be warm, and someday it’ll all be okay.
I missed your news Isabella. A good night’s sleep works wonders. I hope your situation continues to improve.
Thanks, Petunia! I think yesterday was the hardest thing I’ve ever endured, and I’ve been through some stuff…
Glad you got a decent night sleep! It makes such a difference.☺️
I’m glad to hear there was some, however small, improvement in the sleep situation. I’m rooting for you! Pun intended… because your dream sounds like a movie I’d want to watch! ?
Even in my dream, I found it hard to comprehend how he could be both animal and vegetable, but he had a certain good-looking bronziness about him, so *obviously* part sequoia! ?
I caught up with yesterday’s comments last night, I’m very glad to hear you’re feeling better.
So glad you got some sleep and sweet dreams.
Glad you are feeling better today!
Glad that you got some decent-ish sleep last night!
My inner 11-year-old is laughing about your dream, and saying “Heh, wood is good!”
And, well, Robin would probably slap my hands if I made the obvious joke about the sheer size of those particular trees…
I’m glad you are feeling better today.
Glad to hear you got some sleep last night, wishing you a lot more!
Glad the medicine helped. Here’s hoping you keep improving!
I’m wearing Houbigant Iris des Champs today <3
How does it rate on the favourite-iris scale (if you have such one)?
Smelling great!
For once, I was pleasantly surprised that it was later in the week than I thought – it’s usually the opposite. Wearing the Bulgari blue tea, to match the blue top I am wearing.
A very kind NSTer gave me a bottle of Bulgari Bleu. You smell wonderful today!
Woke up to some cold cold temps this morning. T-Rex’s water bowl was frozen solid.
Currently warming up by eating oatmeal with raisins (everyone’s favorite based on comments above !lol) and dehydrated blueberries. I threw in some wheat germ and cinnamon. Tasty! Add my usual HOT cuppa coffee and I’m thawing out.
Wearing the last little bit of my decant of Profvmvm Ambra Aurea today. My travel size is winging its way to me as we speak!!
Happy Thursday ✌?
Whoa, frozen water bowl, it must have gotten chilly last night! And you’re in Arizona right?
Yes, but up in the mountains. Elevation is about 5500. I think it got down to 14F last night, but we slept fine under a 0F comforter. It’s the getting up and out of bed that can be difficult. ? Too cold to be out now because of the dang ? WIND, but we’re parked with the sun blasting through the windshield so it’s warming up nicely in here. ?
Steel cut oatmeal with toasted walnuts and sliced banana for me this morning. My hubby had the same, except blueberries.
Love steel cut the most, but it takes too much fuel to cook them in the van. Had to switch to quick oats, but I prefer the texture and taste of steel cut oats. I can feel our collective cholesterol levels dropping already! ?
Have you tried the Quaker 3-minute steel cut oatmeal? It’s really easy in the microwave if you have a deep bowl. I stir mine 2/3 of the way through so it doesn’t start to explode. You can also do stovetop, but whisk as soon as you add the oats to the water or they clump.
I like raisins! Lol
Me too! I’m not fussy about carrot cake. How can anything topped with cream cheese frosting be wrong? ?
I went with Tigers Nest today and loving the spicy-woody drydown. I’m sure many who have this scent wore it this week.
I don’t think you can get more CP compliant than that! It’s a lovely scent and you smell fab!
It was an easy choice. ?
I also wore it this week and think you smell great. I’m planning on a bottle once I use up my decant.
It is FBW!
I’m wearing that one tomorrow. 🙂
It’s a perfect choice for this project.
You smell wonderful!
I’m in White Cube.
Well, I survived my dentist appointment . It actually went better than I expected. Now just keeping fingers crossed that this tooth doesn’t flare up in the next couple weeks before the permanent crown is placed, and I end up needing a root canal.??Been there done that, and it is not fun.
Clear blue skies and sun today.??
Ugh root canal is the worst . Glad it went well.
Sending more good dental health vibes!
Fingers crossed for no issues!
I hope I get your sun tomorrow!
Fingers crossed for you.
Stamps! How terrific…send me a letter ( except you can’t , because we’re off the postal list for USPS). Raining tigers and dogs here and the garden is all grey and yellow as the leaves on the maple and silver birch begin to turn, and my sunflowers begin to open. I am still in bed but was out at sunrise to feed the birds: tui, bellbirds for sugar water, seed for the greenfinches and sparrows…all bedraggled and forlorn as they huddled waiting for me to get my act together. Almost no bees here this year. Last year the sugar water attracted a cloud of them…so I am certain, now, a neighbour must have had a hive.
In the SL gang wearing Datura Noir.
Welcome to the SL gang! It’s about time!
???✌?
Haha. I think I have more Lutens than any other house and I love them all. Have a great weekend. We have a South African garden in our botanic gardens and it is fabulous and exotic and colourful and every time I go there I think of you.
That’s wonderful!Hopefully it features lots of fynbos, proteas and the gorgeous strelitzia!???
The yellowjackets here sometimes barge in on the hummingbird feeder, to the hummies’ obvious displeasure, but the neighbor’s honeybees stick to the garden flowers. And then, we have what we call “pants-hanging-down” wasps that build little biscuit-sized paper nests in the porch roof eaves and don’t seem interested in either the sugar water or the flowers, or us, thank goodness; they just sort of loaf around dangling their little pants-legs.
😀 “pants-hanging-down wasps” 😀 Love it!
You smell lovely.
Day 4 of plastic windows. At least the wind has mostly stopped so it was quiet overnight. The first window went in yesterday, the second window is going in this morning. So the hole in the side of my house is being reduced from a 20 ft x 16 ft hole to a 15 ft x 16 ft hole… yes these are big windows. No point running the heat with a hole that big so still chillin’ here. SOTD is MMM Coffee Break to keep me awake (maybe)
So how long will it take to get your windows all in at this rate?
Monday maybe….
BUMMER!
I hope your windows are all done soon so you can have your house back and warm up! Does Coffee Break smell like coffee?
Yup!
Oh drat, I was really rooting for at least some heat! Good luck this weekend.
A dull day here, but still not cold. I’m delighted to be able to say that we have had some lovely summer weather this year.
I can’t think of anything particularly tigery, and have decided on CdG’s Ouarzazate.
Glad to hear that you’ve had warm summer weather! A cold, wet summer season is a complete bummer.
Chanel Allure EdP. I find these classics are the power go-tos for me.
Got the email from Atelier with the news they are completely exiting the US and CAD markets. Thus, doing 40% off everything as a thank you. Site is overwhelmed as a result. I gave up and realized I have other scents on my list, so seeking a deal for deal’s sake is unwise.
That’s such a shame! I remember discovering them in Sephora years ago. Like you, I have plenty to keep me busy!
Oooooh, I feel much better about getting that travel spray of Love Osmanthus last month!
I was wondering why their bottles were showing up at Off Fifth all of a sudden. That explains it.
I gave up too. I really had my heart set on Camilla Intrepid.
It’s just not meant to be.
SOTD is 19-69 Kasbah. I’ve been loving this one recently, even if it sometimes smells like an incensey headshop to me! I also love that they’re now at Sephora and with travel spray sizes. But I have seen some controversy with the brand on Instagram. They seem to have (or had) some out-of-date copywriting for some of their scents , which have offended some. And then blocked users who pointed this out to them. It does make me feel a bit guilty supporting them.
Hmmmmmm. ? “Incense-y headshop” sounds pretty darn good to me!
Oh, that’s great news they are at Sephora, need to check my local shop.
In Frederic Malle Une Rose.
Rainy day today. On my way to the office now after 2 site visits. I am glad it is warmer today, in the mid-40s. Looking forward to having a big cup of coffee with my lunch.
Back to read comments later.
Happy almost Friday, everyone! ☕️
Happy ? Project!
Is Une Rose the lipstick like fragrance?
FM has one called Lipstick Rose — is that the one you’re thinking of? Une Rose is a dark deep earthy winey red red red rose, and a *stunner*.
A stunner, YES!
AGREE!
Yes! I was thinking of one that smelled like lipstick. I tried it years ago and hated it. Then again, I tried POAL years ago, hated it and bought it yesterday!
I love a good dark rose.
As Isabella mentioned above, Lipstick Rose is the one you are thinking about. It is absolutely beautiful and on my project list to wear some time next week.
I love your cheerful project!
Rose perfumes and rainy weather smell surprisingly good together. ?☔
They do! I was so surprised at how beautiful Ta’if smelled on me yesterday. I usually wear it in warm weather and it doesn’t feel the same. It’s going to be fun to revisit part of my rose collection now.
I reached for Bacarat Rouge Extrait because johanob mentioned it this week. Lovely as always, but I’m in a deep BWF phase right now, so I’ll probably reach for one of those tonight.
A good friend is coming to visit next weekend, so we ordered TWENTY perfume samples to try together. The only criterion was that neither of us had ever sniffed them before. I can’t wait!
I love your perfume-party idea!Enjoy and do share all the details after!!❣️❣️
Oh, that’s a great idea! A friend I’ve known for ages recently confessed to me that she wants to “get into” perfume, and I suddenly felt like a drug dealer… I’ve been compiling a little collection of samples that I think she’ll like and that tie into her outdoorsy, artsy, beekeeping lifestyle.
Yes, exactly. I’ve been pushing this friend slowly down the rabbit hole for a few years!
Perfumista get togethers are the best!
That is so fun – WILL she find The One??!!
My kind of party! Have fun!
Sounds like fun!
Perfume party!?
That would be so much fun!
I’m in Rania J Ambre Loup. Lawzey, but this is pretty. Did anyone else have a mom who said that, or is it just me? Old slang lurks in my memory for years, and then I remember… ❤️
Here’s one of my mom’s favorite sayings
” sorry fell in the paint bucket and died” lol
To this day I never heard anyone else say this. Occasionally I do just to keep it alive.
That’s a hoot! It’s new to me as well. ?
I love that saying! I think it’s important to keep those sayings alive. My grandmothers pet name for me was sugar when I was little, so that’s what I call my granddaughter. ?
I love this type of expression. My grandmother used to describe some people as having talking eyes. Gosh, I miss her.
Talking eyes….I haven’t heard of that descriptive, yet I instantly know what it means. I miss my grandmother, too.
Ambre Loup is so good!
My grandfather never cursed but when he said “Hesus Maria Hosep Santisima”, you know you’re in trouble.
SOTD: Viva La Juicy Soiree
Billy Joel always ended his concerts with,”Don’t take no sh*t from nobody!”. I forgot this was my new year’s resolution, but Mr. AP remembered. I gave it back to my dentist’s secretary who has terrified me forever (over the phone, of course?).
Purchased POAL last night after someone posted a site with great prices. I didn’t need 100ml, and certainly won’t go through it, but it was the only one available. Poor me. ?Wanted this forever!
Living in the moment.
Well you go and ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY that 100mls of POAL-perfection once it arrives!❣️❣️❣️❣️
Thank you! I am so excited!!!
This is SUCH a good idea!!
The perfume I mean (though it’s a good resolution too!) – how wonderful to have purchased a forever perfume!
I gotcha. ?
Yes! Finally, one popped up!
Yay for the whole post!
Yay!!!
Thanks for sharing the joy!
You go girl!
O. I did. I did. ?
Enjoy it!
I will. Anticipation is already killing me.??
That’s so awesome, getting something on your “Perfume Bucket List”!
It really is! I’ve been waiting years. And buying tons that were blind buys, cheap thrills or just the bloom off the rose(pun intended).
Funkless for Day 3 and wearing Love Extreme!!!??♥️
Three cheers for three days of funklessness!
These guys have your funk, and hopefully they will keep it:
https://youtu.be/l4nOHdUntyM
One of my favorites – thanks, Jalapeno!
Yay, funk free!
You smell fab.
Woo hoo! My Extreme bottle keeps winking at me … I’ll have to wear it soon. I also got a travel spray of the regular one from a lovely NST perfumista.
Now that I have a backup bottle, I’m in Rosa Sur Reuse for the third straight day
We know it is love when we break open the bub.
I tested the BUB on Tuesday just to make sure it was good but yesterday and today was from my original bottle
Rain heading toward snow here. 4160Tuesdays Eau My Soul. If you look at the list of notes in fragrantica this should be a mess- but it’s a lovely warm amber.
Love that one too, you smell great.
Hi all!
I am in Chanel No5 l’Eau – just the opposite of what is required by this week’s community project imo ?
But it suits my mood today, so hey!
I’ll try to be compliant tomorrow…
Wonderful! I have a tiny sample of this so I have never worn much. I should just enjoy it rather than saving it- thank you for the encouragement!
You smell lovely!
No. 5 L’Eau is a charmer! It completely won me over.
2nd.
Chanel No. 5 L’Eau is a wonderful perfume! I have it in just about every size it comes in.
Shocked!
I jumped on the Serge train this morning and am in Douce Amere. I’m in love with how I smell today, even though I’m kinda cranky and headachy otherwise. My lunch is almost ready, so hopefully that helps.
All the Serge talk today directed me towards my box of SL magic for the evening. I have never tried this one but I am sure you are in a cloud of beauty, and I hope you’re feeling a lot better now.
This one is beautiful. I remember it from years ago. My unicorn and I found it last year, used.
Thanks, feeling a little better now. Enjoying the last wisps of Douce Amere.
I’m in love with how you smell.
Thank you! I’m really glad I chose it.
A much quieter day here for me. I’ve been watching light rain fall off-and-on today. Hard to believe that tomorrow could be a big YUCK, weather-wise.
SOTD = BR 540 EdP. I got inspired by several mentions of it and the extrait here lately, and decided to let Socks know what my sniffer told me about it. I find this one a spicy, woody perfume with a bit of citrus in the top notes. No floral notes that I can pick up. Not close to Fancy Love, either, which is vanilla/patchouli on me, and much more assertive. But they probably would harmonize quite nicely.
Glad today was calmer for you.
Are you getting a ton of fog today? The snow on the ground seems to be vaporizing instead of melting and it’s like Wuthering Heights over here.
I had loads of fog yesterday. Not so much today, since most of the snow that was here is gone. The only white stuff left is what got piled up by the snow blowers and the front-end loader when sidewalks and streets were cleared.
A bit of a weather update: I had some fog roll in after I posted, but before the sun went down. Still not as thick as yesterday’s. And now things have cleared out.
Are you expecting freezing rain?
Not anymore. Current forecast is for rain tomorrow, then a flash freeze sometime in the afternoon.
Ugh… I hope you don’t get it.
It’s sounding better than the original forecast of freezing rain. (shrug) We shall see what I end up getting…
Ooh you can do the Duet Friday CP next week!
Yep! I probably have a bunch of things that would work for that one. Just haven’t checked.
Nice review. Fancy Love sounds great!
I’m testing Dusita Moonlight in Chiangmai. You know that scene in Elf when Buddy bursts through door announcing “I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!” — yeah, that has been me today, sniffing my arm. to my nose this is buttery, salty, woody, nutty, floral all at once, with yuzu lightening it all up to stay in balance.
Zara thankfully made some candles for the new Jo Loves Cities line, including Magnificent Dubai, which is the one I really wanted in candle form. I’m on day three of burning it and it gets two thumbs up. Good scent, good throw, and looks good both lit and unlit in its smoky glass jar. I wish it were 100% soy wax instead of an unknown veggie + paraffin wax blend, but if it were I doubt they could keep the price at $16, so no complaints from me.
Drinking Clippership Hot Buttered Rum tea today, which has a nice pink pepper kick to it.
Sounds like you are quite happy with your perfume, candle, and tea trifecta!
Yes, and I just topped it off with a mini P-Funk dance party, so thank you for that!
If that perfume generates that feeling like Buddy gets, you need as many bubs as you can find.?
Wow! What do you consider a successful discovery set buy?
SOTD is EL Amber Ylang-Ylang. Needed something cozy for a snow day. We are all stuck at home, but it works when it comes to letting the dogs out to potty. The small dog gets bogged down in the snow. She also has only one eye with a big cataract, so she gets a little snow-blind and winds up running around in desperate circles. I have to pull on the rain boots with thick socks and go out to rescue her. It’s a balance between making sure she does her business and not leaving her in the cold too long.
Oh gosh, you’re such a good doggie mama! I wish I remember what I read about rubbing on a dog’s fur to prevent them from getting bogged down.
Musher?
The snow is very pretty and cozy.
Somehow, I always forget I need to bring someone to go potty and shoveling is not fun at 3 am.
Hello everyone! Since buying Le Lion on the 1st of February I’ve decided to have a Chanel month (I do not have 20+ Chanel perfumes, but with all the samples I’ve collected over the years I do have a lot of variety). I have also decided to go for a morning (Chanel) and evening perfume, so I can still join in with the CP ? Yesterday was Cristalle Eau Verte, today was Coco edp, but tonight is SL L’Eau d’Armoise, which has none of the richness of classic Serges but there’s a dryness to it that I really like, and it’s unusual in my collection for that reason. Fun perfume story: today at work a colleague suddenly started talking about her favourite perfume, which she had just bought a new bottle of as a payday treat. It’s Mugler Alien! We have never met in real life as I’ve been WFH full-time for nearly 2 years, so I’ve no idea what this even smells like, but it was so nice to talk perfume at work. Then, hilariously, my manager joined in and said “that’s my husband’s favourite perfume too” as in, he wears it himself. This conversation made my day, and I can’t wait to test it!
Oh how fun! I love talking about perfume to anyone that even hints at having an interest.
Report back after you do smell Alien.
Will do, thanks!
Since Alien is amber-heavy (to my nose), I can see the right guy wearing it well.
Oh that does sound good!
Sotd is Dzongkha.
I love Dzongkha, you smell wonderful.
Thank you! It’s one of my favorites and I’m so thankful to have heard about it here.
I have Dzing! and Dzonghka. And no recollection of what they smell like.
Any help, allo?
Dzing! is a leathery, caramely, spicy carnival and Dzonghka is a woody, cardamomy, incensey, leathery wonder of the perfume world 🙂
The roads are much improved today and no significant snow expected! Plus I have tomorrow off.
I wore Prada Candy Night today.
This really is delicious smelling.
I’m glad you get to stay home tomorrow. Stay safe and warm, friend!
Safe and warm is always my plan!.
I’m making Cowboy Stew right now for my son to take for lunch?
Aww, good. I’m glad that recipe worked out for you!
Enjoy your day off! You smell delish.
Have a nice day off!
Yay for a day off, and for no significant snow in your area! ⛄
Yay for a day off!
SOTD for stubbornness (a form of confidence?) is Cabochard, but tomorrow I’ll wear Tyger Tyger by 4160 Tuesdays.
Oh good pick, it’s a toss up between that one and Tiger’s Nest for tomorrow.
Yours is a good idea too!
Good idea!
Late to the party again! I went into the office, on the way home, placed an order for the new Slumberhouse Jeke even though I have a FB of the dark juice in the booze bottle (or whatever it’s called), and worked for another hour, etc.
SOTD = Puredistance No.12
It’s a nice one – vintage powdery floral – ?!

When I got home, there was a package from Chanel even though I have not ordered anything. I’ll open the box tomorrow!
I opened Eris Parfums Scorpio Rising and it’s fiery spicy with a clean undertone. I think it’s perfect to celebrate the Tiger tomorrow.
It’s probably up in the threads but I haven’t read them yet. ? I heard that Le Labo Iris 39 has been axed! Seriously, I think it’s one of the better ones and I don’t understand why?
This owl gave me an instant smile?
You did a wonderful job matching everything.
I’m trying to imagine a fiery, spicy perfume with a clean undertone and failing. What kind of clean is it?
Chanel used to send sample bottles to me out of the blue. Not tons, but I really didn’t even order off the site much.
Is the Iris blind buy worthy?
I love Iris 39 too and don’t understand why it would get the ax (and others not).
