It’s Hump Day and National Tater Tot Day, plus Candlemas / Groundhog Day (RIP Milltown Mel; Punxsutawney Phil says 6 more weeks). Birthdays: James Joyce, Stan Getz, Raven Wilkinson, Farrah Fawcett, Ina Garten, Brent Spiner. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm taking tiger points in Olivier Durbano Black Tourmaline.
Reminder: on 2/4, to welcome the Year of Tiger, wear a fragrance that projects or inspires power, bravery, self-confidence and ambition.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Oh Phil, say it ain’t so! I’m wearing some very old and syrupy Les Nereides Patchouli Antique, which inspires lots of reading and naps under a warm blanket. It’s hibernation mode over here.
Phil is apparently not very accurate.

The groundhog here did not see his shadow, so spring is on the way!??He also did not bite the mayor like he did a few years ago.
I’m in Molecule 01. Tomorrow is almost here and I’ve been dreading it for weeks. I have a dentist appointment to prep for my crown.? At this point I’m just anxious to get it over with already so I can enjoy the weekend.
Happy hump day!
You deserve a crown, just not one on your tooth! Hope it all goes as smoothly as possible.
Ha! Thanks!
Good luck w/ your crown prep! And congrats to your daughter on her camp job…I was behind w/ reading comments yesterday. 🙂
Aww, double thanks She-ra!?
Hope that appointment goes very smoothly for you.
Thanks Aurora! Me too.?
Wait your groundhog bites mayors…well..in that case..would he mind visiting ___….
Lol
I had to laugh at your Groundhog biting the mayor!
https://youtu.be/gCpQOWMovLE
I have to confess, I laughed a little too.?
Sending you good dentist visit vibes while I am here!
Thanks Jalapeno!✌️
Good luck tomorrow!
Thanks lillyjo!
It was -20C this morning; by nightfall it’ll be above 0, and then rain all day tomorrow, and then another big snowstorm on Friday, our second in a week. Winter in Atlantic Canada is *fun*.
I’m in the gorgeously austere SL Santal Blanc, which i think projects the kind of uprightness which can pass for self-confidence. It feels very back-straight chest-out shoulders-squared to me.
Ugh. You smell great. Maybe I will wear Rousse tomorrow. Or Chene.
Oh, Rousse is a great choice for the theme! Very assertive.
I never took a shine to Chêne for some reason: it’s one of the Lutenses that just never spoke to me.
You smell wonderful! I love Santal Blanc, it doesn’t get mentioned much.
I like that one, though I tend to like the darker, sweeter, richer ones. Have you tried Tom Ford Santal Blush? It’s the only Ford I’ve ever bought, but I’ve kind of turned against it.
I was able to thunk another decant, this time L’Olympia Music Hall by Histoires de Parfums. I like this one.
Day 3 of plastic sheeting for windows. The plastic held overnight despite the wind (whew!) though the snapping woke me up several times. The contractor is supposed to start putting the windows back in today… hope so! Still needing warm comfort, so SOTD is MMM Whispers in the Library.
Oh yay! Windows will now seem like a luxury, I’m sure 🙂
Heat seems like a luxury this week! We have the heat off while the contractors are working… no point in running the heat while there are giant holes in the wall. Brrr. It’s warmer here than where plenty of you are, but 49 degrees is plenty cold for the living room.
ACK. So hope they are going to be done getting those windows back in very soon?
They were supposed to finish tomorrow, but as of the end of today, only 1 window (out of 4 windows + 1 door) is back in. So… I’m guessing sometime next week…? At the moment, I’m glad there’s no rain in the forecast, though we surely need it.
Ok, ack again. Very good luck to you! And I vote for putting the heat back on.
GAH! 49 degrees?!?
There is little distinction between “indoors” and “outdoors” here at the moment 🙂
AnniePerfumes!! I have been trying to say my email address for You. It is:
majokkobiachan
@
gmail.com
If You still can’t get it right maybe You can tell me Yours and I can email You with mine? Thanks!!
Hi and thank you!
It was late, late, late in the morning when I saw your email was Gmail.
I just sent you two emails. I’ll be checking my email to see if they bounce back.
Thanks!
Good morning.
Sotd is BR540 Extrait.
Has anyone tried the new TF Rose trio? I read somewhere that they’re limited edition but I thought they’re permanent? Does anyone know? Makes me want to just grab one if they are really limited. Rose de Chine I am looking at you!
I’m interested in the TF roses, too, but I haven’t tried them. I don’t love the clear bottle and black caps, though, so at least I’m saved from packaging lust! If you try Rose de Chine, do report back!
Will do!
I have not tried them but there is a lovely travel coffret with all 3 that I am trying to not buy…no affiliation to any companies…but here’s the link to the set…
https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/tom-ford-private-blend-roses-3-piece-fragrance-set–amp–atomizer-16052461.html
Oh my…? That link also led me to seeing this Private Blend Mini Decanter 3-Piece Set containing F Fabulous, Rose Prick and Lost Cherry… now I want both items *ahhhhhh* hahaha.
Oh that mini set is very covetable.
I don’t know how Fabulous and Lost cherry are but I own Rose Prick and really adore it. Rose is in the background FYI.
Wow this looks like a great set!
Le sigh. That set is *very* nice. But I think my future perfume purchasing $$$$$$ are spoken for already with a purchase that isn’t nearly as fun.
My present and future fun $$ is going to medical bills.
Twiiiins!!
We smell fabulous!
We sure do 😉
Very unhappy again with Punxsutawney Phil ?. I am seriously thinking about quitting on him and following our Staten Island Chuck from now on ?!
I am wearing Ormonde Jayne Ta’if for my two week rose project. It is cheering me up after Groundhog day! ?
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Hey twin!
Ta’if has been a staple for me this winter.
Here’s hoping Phil’ prediction is wrong.
You have been smelling fantastic! Ta’if is so beautiful and I keep forgetting to wear it more often.
Let’s hope for warmer weather to arrive earlier than expected!
Happy Rose Project!
Hope your boss is not being such a pest.
Thank you, Annie! ?
He is quiet now, but I am sure he will “attack” again soon! ?
Maybe he’ll be swamped!
?
I wore and enjoyed Ta’if on Sunday. You smell lovely!
Thank you! ?
Staten Island is much closer to you than Gobbler’s Knob, PA is, so go with Chuck!
??
In my head spring starts March 1st. I stand by it ??⚘
Yay! That sounds better! Let me then follow you and say goodbye to the groundhogs! ?
Apparently the Canadian groundhogs can’t make up their minds: Shubenacadie Sam saw her shadow, while Wiarton Willie and Fred la Marmotte did not. On the West Coast, our marmots are too sleepy to come out of their burrows at all on Feb. 2, so I’m not sure what that says about us.
No SOTD yet. Have to think about what will get me through a half-day planning meeting. Fortunately the kid’s cough stopped yesterday afternoon, so she is off to school today. The cat and I are enjoying a moment of quiet in front of the fire before the meetings start.
Even better — you can take your pick of forecasts 🙂
The scents here are LVDP Hindu Kush (on me) and paint (in the rest of the house). But I got the Wordle word in two guesses, so I feel super-smart. Or just lucky. ?
Super smart.?
Wordle in two!? I believe you are now entitled to a PhD from a university of your choosing.
I can be a Doctor of Wordle? Cool! 😀
I am awash in overripe flowers in Serge Lutens Fleur d’Oranger. Sadly, it’s pretty faded at this point. It’s amazing to me that when I first tried this perfume years ago, I thought it was ridiculous that anyone would want to wear it.
I was suprised how much I love this one,so much so that it has a bub of a bub…Fantastic!
I remember that feeling — about probably 1/3 of the SL scents, but FdO for sure.
Happy Humpday!
SOTD!
BR540 extrait.I’d wear this way more often if only half of South Africa wasn’t already on a daily basis! It’s become somewhat of an “it ” fragrance down here.Still,Lovely, and a serious mood-boosting self-confidant attention-grabber!
XO’s
It is so good to see you posting daily again! You smell wonderful! ?
Seems to be an issue worldwide! One of the bonuses of living in a small town is that I never ever smell the latest it fragrance in the wild 🙂
I very rarely smell any perfume in the wild in my rural town.
Yep, same.
Seems that almost everyone everywhere is going nuts for BR 540. It’s supposedly the “It” perfume for NYC and London.
I have never tried it.
Here I mostly smell Light Blue…. still!! Lol
Appreciate the the support for No Funk February!
Day 2 has no funk in sight and I am going to douse myself in something from my languishing OJ discovery set as there have been so many people posting about wearing OJ fragrances this week…makes me want to join in! 😉
You smell fabulous and funk free! I’m a huge fan of OJ Woman and only re-discovered it after I gave my discovery set another whiff. So glad I did!
Happy to hear that February is Funk Free for you so far! Hope that continues.
We should do a Funkless Friday CP!
Great idea!
Define it and I will add to list!
Super windy and gusty today with lots of sun. Down to 16F tonight! Brrrr! ?
Keeping warm in SL Chergui with a big cup of scorching coffee!☕️
Oh, Chergui will definitely keep you warm!
Thus far, no-funk February and embracing the spirit of the tiger are two big fails for me — I am Not Okay. Another horrific, sleepless night, so I’ve made an appointment with my doctor to see if she can prescribe something to knock me out. Taking today off work since I can’t stop crying and looking at work emails made my hands shake uncontrollably. Commando today, because who the heck wants a scent memory associated with a day like this??
Isabella, I’m so sorry. Sending calming thoughts and virtual hugs your way ?
Ditto!
I am so sorry! This too shall pass.
Your fragrant buddies are here for ya!
So sorry about your terrible day, wise decision to see the doctor, I do have sleeping pills and sometimes having the option helps already.
I’m sorry to hear about your sleepless night and ensuing bad day so far! I hope your doctor can help with something… And I hope you can rest well tonight.
I am so sorry, Isabella. I hope tomorrow is a better day. Sending hugs, peace, and love! ?
Huge vibes for you, it’s awful when you can’t sleep. Hope you can get some pills asap!
Sorry for your horrible day. Good to call your doctor. Sleep is important and your days will get better.
Your doctor might be able to get you to sleep clinic, while you get something to get you by.
Oh dear…I’m so sorry. I hope your doctor listens well and provides the help you need to sleep and get some balance back. It’s horrible what insomnia can do.
Sending hugs and good vibes your way. Insomnia can be so insidious and invasive. I’m glad to hear you are going to see your doctor about it.
Oh dear, how awful for you. Delta8 gummies have helped me sleep despite bad pain. Don’t know whether those might be possible for you, or acceptable.
Sorry to hear about another sleepless night, but glad to hear that you are seeing a doctor about it.
Also very sorry to hear this and glad you called the doctor. Hopefully they can prescribe something to get you some relief. Big hugs to you and I hope you get rest tonight.
Oh no. Joining along with everyone else: really glad you’re going to see a doctor and really hope you get things back in order.
What a horrible distressing situation. Hopefully you will get the medical and emotional support you need and sleep, too.
So sorry about your continued sleepless nights. I hope your doctor helps you find relief.
I’m very sorry you are having sleep troubles. I’m glad you are going to see the doctor.
I’ve got a sample of Francesca Bianchi’s Tyger Tyger, so I might wear that tonight. Last time I wore that, the cat was smooching all over me, and she smelled lovely for the next couple of days – I don’t know how Francesca did that, but she created a scent that went perfectly with Phaedra’s natural fur smell 🙂
Meanwhile, today I’ll wear Caron’s Aimez Moi.
You smell wonderful! I fell in love with Aimez-Moi and there’s a certain Je ne sais quoi about it that I don’t get with many other fragrances. I am grateful to have discovered it when we did a Violet CP awhile back.
commando as I has more work at the dentist today
Good Grief Charlie Brown
Ouch.
Hope you feel better.
Good luck with that!
Best well wishes to you ?
Commando twins today, sigh.
In solidarity with you and madtowngirl as I chew on one side of my mouth to avoid my temporary crown. Yuk!
Ew, I remember having to do that. Not fun.
SOTD is Eau My Soul.
I slept much better last night, so sending calming sleepy vibes to all my non-good-sleeper buddies!
Yay for you tulipani! Sleep is so good.
Almost bought that right now!
It’s a good one!
4 inches of snow here, accumulating slowly, temp also dropping slowly… We have lots of wood for the fire, stores of food for all the creatures, and lots of cookie making fixings for the humans. Any excuse to turn the oven on and make the house smell good, right? SOTD non CP compliant in Seville a l’Aube which I find works well for me in cold weather. My pick for Friday is Tiger’s Nest. Hopefully the decant has not dried up…
I’m intrigued by Seville l’Aube in the winter as it’s my summer go to.
We’re at 8″ of snow with no end in sight, sounds like you are well prepared! If I baked cookies, my husband and I would just sit here and eat them all so no treats. Enjoy yours ?
My husband and absolutely plan on eating all the cookies.
And I – I definitely plan on eating the cookies! LOL!
Yay.
Hello twin! ??
Just got back from a road trip out to Joshua Tree National Park. It was cold but beautiful. Today the poor dog is at the vet getting her teeth cleaned, going to pick her up soon. Testing out Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour today, summery & fruity.
Yay for your road trip! I am curious about Sunset Hour and will check out reviews. Hope she recovers quickly from her teeth cleaning. My sister has her 11 year old dog’s teeth cleaned last week…was first teeth cleaning for him? and he had 5 teeth pulled I think. His breath is much improved and he’s doing well. 😉
She did well, no extractions! 🙂
Oh how nice! and bet it is not crowded in February?
Actually this is the high season for the desert, it was full. Summer is off season as it is too hot. 🙂
Yeah, I should have known.
I suspect that my cats are overdue for teeth cleaning.
In She Was an Anomaly. I really like this one. But then I love and own an FB of Dzongkha and like very much and own a travel bottle of Santal 33. . . so do I really need this as well? I found a 50 ml bottle on sale for $69.99 (PSA: by the by, this place has other ELDO’s on sale if you are interested https://www.jomashop.com/etat-libre-dorange-unisex-she-was-an-anomaly-edp-spray-1-7-oz-fragrances-3760168592355.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiA9OiPBhCOARIsAI0y71Cer5LP-MUS_AztIUNDjPogmmK-iobu890GIKBav281spgSo9MrBzMaAtq_EALw_wcB)
I really don’t need it, but I am sorely tempted.
Good price! Did you cave yet 🙂
Buy it!
Well, that sale had good prices on several bottles that had been hanging out on my Want List. So, OF, please cup your hands together while I pour out a pile of enabler pins. 🙂
Adds one from me!
SWAA is a great bedtime scent in my opinion. Since it can be worn 24 hours a day, it’s inherently more practical, so you should get it. ?
Wearing Kiss Me Intense today, which is one of my go-to scents when I want easy but well-formulated.
I don’t care what Phil says or saw. I will celebrate on Friday when our official sunset time is finally at 5 pm.
Don’t listen to Phil. Sun Prairie’s Jimmy the groundhog didn’t see his shadow so spring is coming to Wisconsin!?
Woo hoo!
I’d say go with what your local weather-forecasting critter says.
I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out why your sunset is an hour earlier than mine here in Michigan. I finally remembered you are an hour behind me! Lol
I will never understand time change.
Yeah, it’s unfortunate that we are on the eastern edge of our time zone.
I’m in an old favorite today, Ava Luxe Hong Kong Garden. So close to thunking the decant I’ve had for a very long time. I’m pleased there’s been no evaporation and the perfume has held up well. It’s an earthy, powdery gorgeous iris perfume with support from vetiver, sandalwood, and oakmoss. I have a small bottle of the parfum to get into once my decant is finished.
The boyfriend will be home from his work trip in a couple hours or so. Unfortunately, his connecting flight from Denver had a couple delays, and his flight will arrive here just minutes before his scheduled online doctor’s appointment. I’m hoping he can find somewhere quiet in the airport to take that appointment when he lands, as he needs to check in for a Rx refill. Stupid travel complicating things!
Ah, good luck to boyfriend!! At least it’s online.
Thanks, the flight ended up delayed more, but he was able to get the appointment moved an hour and a half later. So while stressful and exhausting as it was, it all worked out.
Oh good!
I’m wearing Honour Woman. It was sitting out and is never a bad option. I’m all ready for my surgery early tomorrow and just relaxing with wine and cats on my porch. We have 69 degrees here! But there’s a cold snap and freeze coming in tonight. No perfume allowed for tomorrow, but I’ve packed some small ones in my suitcase.
Good luck with your surgery! Can’t go wrong with cats and ?.
Hope everything goes well ?
Best of luck tomorrow. ???
Hope your surgery goes well!
Yay for perfume, wine and cats! Best of luck for tomorrow…we will all be thinking of you!
Good luck Calypso!!
I hope everything goes well tomorrow. I will wear perfume for the both of us . Thinking of you
Good luck!
I’ll be thinking about you tomorrow Calypso! Good luck!?
Good luck!
Best wishes for a swift and easy surgery tomorrow.
Hope it goes well and yay for wine and cats!
Good luck Calypso. Hope it is utterly uneventful.
Best wishes for tomorrow!
I’m with Vee — what we want here is an absolutely uneventful procedure. And, of course, a speedy recovery.
Thanks so much everyone!
SOTD: Karma
Pup is hiding. I was going to take her for a ride, but don’t want to disturb her.
I still can’t believe Tom Brady retired. Wishing my #12 the happiest and healthiest new chapter of his life. Or he could come home to the Patriots!
(Oh dear, I thought he was with the Patriots but google has explained.)
You smell good. Glad the pup is feeling playful.
It’s been an extremely aggravating Wednesday here. That damn squirrel came back and succeeded in breaking into our kitchen hood vent. It chewed thru a metal grate that Mr. Jalapeno had put over the opening to keep birds out.
As if that wasn’t enough, I found out today that my clothes washer is not repairable. There are 2 major issues wrong with it: the water pump is kaput, and the machine has a bad bearing assembly, which causes the washer to be very loud during the rinse and spin cycles. The water pump would have been a reasonable fix. However, the bearing assembly fix would have been around $1500, assuming that parts were available. And one of the necessary parts is no longer made by the manufacturer.
Bottom line: time for a new clothes washer. I had suspected that this might be the case, and have done some preliminary info gathering on the Internet. What a PITA.
SOTD = Commando. Woke up early for the service appointment, and haven’t bothered with perfume since. February is not off to a good start for me…
I am very sorry about the squirrel. 🙁 We had one come down the chimney flue when I was little and our dog Tootsie chased it around the house I remember. It is funny now but was not then and certainly not for my parents.
Also hope you find a wonderful new washing machine! I got a top loader with no agitator a few years back and it is wonderful compared to the old school ones. I researched on Consumer Reports and went w/ one of their best buys I think…I am quite pragmatic about most things that are not perfume!!! 😉 Big hugs to you, Jalapeno and hoping your week gets better.
Your squirrel story reminds me of a story my brother had about a mouse getting into his house. At the time, he had 3 dogs and 2 cats. The entire menagerie ended up steeplechasing the mouse thru his house…
What brand of clothes washer did you end up with, if you don’t mind me asking?
LG WT7100CW…they have many similar models but that one was highly rated by Consumer Reports when I researched and fairly responsibly priced…to leave more $ for perfume of course. ehaeheh 😉
Too many similar models/numbers 😉 …this is the LG model WT7150CW.
Oh my gosh! How did you get the squirrel out?
I am sorry about the washer. I hope you can find a good deal on another one.
Right now, all evidence points to the squirrel not being there. But the little bugger is trying to build a nest in it to keep warm. There are a bunch of pest removal services I could call, if the situation warrants it. We had birds nest in our master bathroom vent years ago, and I called a service to evict the birds and put up bird excluders.
Oh no…so squirrel actually entered your house? Is everything ok?
AFAIK, the squirrel isn’t in the house proper. There is a hole about the size of a 50-cent piece in the aluminum grating that we had to keep out birds. Said hole was not there yesterday. Mr. Jalapeno does not want to pay anymore to get rid of the squirrel if he can do it himself.
It is amazing how they can squeeze themselves through such small holes. It’s like their organs are just floating around inside them, unattached to anything. I hope Mr. Jalapeno’s removal mission is a success.
And BOO on the bum washer!
Aha. Annoying, but better than in the house. My brother in law had a squirrel break in while he was out of town and it was rather amazing.
Where I think the squirrel might be getting into is the exhaust vent to the outside. I’ve heard a few scratching noises this evening.
Oh no, double whammy. I have a normally pacifist friend ethic got squirrels in his attack and went after them with a shotgun! Yikes! He’s got a picturesque old farmhouse in northern Michigan.
If I’d had my brother’s BB gun yesterday, I would have used it!
Sorry for weird spellcheck changes!
Squirrel ? be gone!
Good luck with the washer. Mine is a front loader Bosch. I have a service contract with PSE&G as I cannot deal with anything mechanical or electrical. My dryer is also a Bosch front loader.
Right now we aren’t hearing any squirrel noises in the vent. Mr. Jalapeno will install a temporary fix tomorrow until the metal replacement vent he ordered online arrives.
Currently have an LG washer and dryer. Love having a steam cycle, but I may have to live without one in the new washer.
Oh dear, two aggravating things in a row. Hope the squirrel will go away and that you can find the perfect new washing machine.
I’m hoping that Mr. Jalapeno doesn’t get a face full of crazy squirrel when he puts up the new exclusion device.
After some initial info gathering on the Internet, I am convinced that I will have to see some of the models I am interested in for reals. That means going to a brick & mortar store. Also hoping that what I want is in stock and not backordered.
So sorry about the squirrel and the washer! I love my LG front loader.
Late posting. I chose Atelier Cologne Bois Blonds, I reach for it when I’m not sure what to wear, it’s incensey, dry woods and tonight it was Franck Boclet Vanille, a citrus vanilla, for comfort.
Seems to be a good time for comfort scents.
Yes, I think it’s the time of year even though it hasn’t been cold yet in my neck of the woods.
I don’t know how much snow I received today but the roads were awful! The store wasn’t busy but steady enough.
I wore Coco, my go to bad weather perfume.
LOL! I love that you have a designated “bad weather” perfume! I’m not that advanced.
Late entry – started the day in Pourpre d’Automne, MM L’Attesa for lunch and ending the day in Le Lion. My skin eats fragrance like nobody’s business.
All the more reason to buy more perfume……
Thank you Lisa D, great minds think alike 🙂
I’ve had this page open all day but kept getting distracted, hence the late post. Continuing with the Dusita discovery set, I went with Fleur de Lalita today. Finally one that I have zero interest in adding to my collection! It’s quite nice, but just not for me. I get hothouse flowers, inside the hothouse. It’s difficult to identify any particular flower, but there is a faint whiff of the vase water you sometimes get with lilies, so those are definitely there.
I made my tea in rush between work calls and I have forgotten what I am drinking, but it is spicy and has done a good job sustaining me through very annoying calls with people who need to slow down and read before calling me in a panic. There is a world of difference between “2” and “at least 2” and if you are only glancing at what you are reading, you might miss it. (Thank you, NSTers, for attending my mini rant.)
Erk. Vase water sounds like something I wouldn’t want to smell. Not sure I have ever encountered it.
Seville a l’Aube for me today. It was 74 degrees today and we’re headed into colder weather over the next few days. My best to all of you up north who are contending with the snow and ice. Stay safe!
Lucky you on the weather and the scent!
Late to the party!
SOTD = Slumberhouse Jeke
Nice and smokey. No pics today as too busy! I am going into the office tomorrow and we’re expected to be in 3 days a week. That’s reasonable. My goal is to make it in at least 11x a month but 12-14 would be ideal. The powers that be ARE checking and I think they will follow up first with the ones going in < 10x.
Aaaaaand, my niece gave birth to her 2nd daughter! Woop woop! Mom and child are doing well. My older niece is very excited to be a big sister. She is currently with my brother and SIL. I don’t know when they’ll drop her off but I would imagine soon!
Awwwwwwwww, CONGRATULATIONS to your niece on the new addition to your family!
Glad to hear all went well with the baby. You smell great. 🙂
That’s wonderful!
Such joyous news! Congratulations on the newest member of your family.
Congratulations!
Yay!!
