It's Tuesday and National Pumpkin Day. Birthdays: Mahalia Jackson and Natalie Merchant. What fragrance are you wearing?
My day 2 of Pumpkin Spice week: Serge Lutens Rousse. My matchy matchy tea: Upton Season's Pick Yunnan Golden Monkey with added cacao husks and a few flakes of cinnamon stick.
Reminder: on 10/29, we're celebrating Pumpkin Spice season...wear a fragrance featuring any or all of the elements (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, allspice, & etc).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Threshold 11 oz Stoneware Pumpkin Mug is $5 at Target.
In Chanel Paris-Edimbourgh this morning. It is cold, wet, and still dark where I am. I am dragging, not gonna lie. At least I smell good.
Cold, rainy, dragging twins!!
Oh no! Hopefully we both perk up!
Triplets!
Join us as we shamble through the day!
Quads with the gloomy wet weather.
Ugh, I hope you are at least nice and warm inside.
Homemade chai this morning, my last cuppa since my FIL leaves for Canada today.
I am in GPG So Scandal! The flanker to yesterdays. Raspberry and orange blossom explosion, soapy.
I finished Under the Whispering Door, by the same author, TJ Klune, who also wrote House by the Cerulean Sea. I loved it. I laughed, I cried.
Starting Whereabouts, so far I am on the fence. Maybe I need to read this in Italian, since that is how Lahiri originally wrote it, alas, my Italian is not that good enough. I will keep going..
I love reading your book picks! I’ll add that to my reading list! Enjoy the chai, sipping a cup right now!
I like yours too!
Under the Whispering Door was a hard but delightful read. Ever since I lost my father (almost 7 years now) I have avoided these books, where death is the main theme. But Klune writes with such wit, it made me laugh and gave me so much hope! House by the Cerulean Sea was a hoot! I would start there to see if you like his style of writing. These books are YA, so they are both easy reads.
I can understand avoiding those books for a spell. Lately, I am getting into YA and am finding it enjoyable.
Serena Valentino writes a series (Disney-based characters) that looks interesting from the villan’s point of view. That’s a perspective that’s always interested me.
I love a good villain!
When watching Voltron with my kids I fell for Prince Lotor who is the son of the evil empire
Thank you for the So Scandal review! And I read Whereabouts this summer and I loved it, but it was the first thing I’d been able to concentrate on for months-something about the mood and the short chapters really suited me. It’s a melancholy read though and I was quite unsettled by it. I would love to be able to read/speak Italian again-studied it intensively for a year, but that was 20 years ago! Are you still learning Arabic as well as Italian?
And thank you for your mini review of Whereabouts, if it has a melancholy tone I will read it with care.
I stopped my Arabic recently because my teacher had her baby. I am keeping up with my Italian, so far so good. Now that Arabic is on pause, do you suggest another language for me to try?
Try Farsi – it’s easier to learn and pronounce than Arabic.
Well, for me it was.
?
I didn’t know your studied Farsi
I am woman of many mysteries… I lived in Iran for five years and learned it on the spot. I cannot read or write it. But I speak it well enough to understand Dari.
All my study in school and college was in European languages so at this point I’d love to try something completely different, but when I tried Russian a couple of years ago I realised I may be better off trying to remember what I used to know rather than tackling something so new…or maybe if I got back into those old school studies, something like Arabic or Russian would then become easier? We’ll see!
For me , I love how musical Italian sounds, some words are so strong it’s easy to remember.
In Serge Lutens Arabie for the CP. With nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and other spices it is always a joy to wear, especially during Fall season and the holidays.
I am at home today, so I will be celebrating Pumpkin National the whole day. Now I am having a pumpkin toasted bagel with pumpkin spread and feta cheese and on my second cup of coffee with pumpkin spice creamer.
Happy and healthy Tuesday, everyone! ?
You smell delish. I might copy you tomorrow 😀
Thank you, Dorsey! You will smell fantastic! ?
Wow you smell great ? I forget I have a sizey decant of Arabie, I’ll have to dig it out this week.
Thank you, ringthing! I am glad I reminded you of your Arabie decant! Enjoy it! ?
Lutens twins!
That super-pumpkined bagel sounds delish. I want one too.
Sending you some! ???
Oh that sounds like a beautiful perfume! Made me cozy just reading the description!
It is! A rich and dense spicy, fruity scent full of cardamom, nutmeg, cumin, cloves, cinnamon. I am not sure if it was discontinued, otherwise worth trying it!
You win the Pumpkin Spice Prize! Sounds (and smells!) delish!
Lol! I always go super crazy with apple, pumpkin and pumpkin spice items until Thanksgiving day. Last night one of my sisters brought me a couple of pumpkin flavored lip balms. I didn’t ask for it, but they were more than welcome! ??
You smell wonderful, love Arabie!
Thank you, Tulipani! It is a great scent!
Ohh Arabie is perfect for this week!
It is! I don’t remember if I got my large decant from a swap with you a while ago! I have been enjoying it greatly since then!
Right. You can have ALL the CP points for today.
? Pumpkin hugs, Portia!
Definitely liking the sound of your bagel treats as of late! ?
I can still pass you some! ???
I’m saving Rousse for later in the week (I made a list): today I’m in Halston Catalyst for Men, which smells distinctly of cloves without smelling like carnations. It also smells like a lot of other spices, and a lot of other things besides: it’s complicated, and unexpectedly lush for a men’s scent, which (these days, anyway) tend towards the thin and bright.
Sounds great! Love all those notes.
That sounds great. It sounds right up my alley.
I’m wearing Musc Ravageur, from a sample that I received from the freebiemeet. Perfect for the CP, with cinnamon and cloves.
Thank you CobraRose for the Frederic Malles.
Oh you smell wonderful. I thunked my decant not long ago.
Musc Ravageur is definitely getting into the mix this week for me! It’s like putting on a cloak made of gingerbread.
Sorry, not playing tonight. In salted lily.
Un Jardin Sur La Lagune by Hermès.
No requirement to play, ever 🙂
Thanks Robin.
You smell great, Portia!
Hey there PL67,
Thanks.
It’s tomorrow here already
Five O’clock au Gingembre by Serge Lutens. Getting to the NST Community Project a bit late but this is such a fun, spicy tea and floral. My all time favourite Serge.
Always happy to see you comment no matter what, Portia.
Hey Jalepeno!
What a lovely thing to write. XXX
Morning everyone, SOTD is Opium perfume by YSL, I probably over-sprayed ( 😯 ) so might knock a few people out at the gym. 🙂
Got another good night’s sleep, I can definitely get used to this!
Jealous of your sleep! The rain woke me up in the early morning hours..
Woo Hoo! Opium at the gym! Fabulous
Also jealous of your sleep!
Ambre Narguile today, a cinnamon scent for every season!
Great call, I should see if I can fit that in this week.
Great pick for the CP! Like Robin, I will try to fit it in this week!
It was so rainy and dark and hard to wake up this morning. I went with Bulgari Black for the vanilla in the rain. No spice here.
Nice choice! I may switch to that later today, depending on how things go. It’s one of my comfort scents. 🙂
Thanks for the reminder. I always forget it. Such a beautiful weirdo of a fragrance
Happy Birthday Natalie Merchant. One of my favorite singers of all time, I’ve seen her in concert several times.
First day at my training site so I’m in the crowd pleasing Vanille Insensee.?
You smell sooo good
I love Natalie Merchant also.
Today, I’m in a oil-based (jojoba, I believe) dupe of Malle’s Carnal Flower and it’s ridiculously good. How they’ve managed to capture the tuberose, the “JuicyFruit” chewing gum angle (melon) and coconut facets perfectly is a mystery. It feels just as it should. The only caveat: Without the alcohol to propel it and give it lift, it’s CF dialed back by about 50% but it’s still stunning. I half expected it to fall apart after a few minutes on skin, but it didn’t happen. It just got better.
The Canadian company (ca dot oilperfumery dotcom) doesn’t execute everything quite as well as this (their version of a Le Labo scent was a giant, sweaty fail for me) but goodness, when they get it right, they knock it out of the park!
Forgot to mention the price: about $15 for a 10mL roll on bottle of pure perfume oil. ☺️
I’ve bought a few things from them, my favorite being their Coromandel dupe. Doesn’t smell exactly the same of course, but snuggly and delicious just the same.
I’d been curious to try them, but the one item I’d had passed to me was very so-so. If anyone has any reports of good, or great dupes of theirs, do share!
Sounds great. Would you get several (many?) dupes of the tried and true in lieu of the real thing?
Yes, next time I order (three weeks to get to me in France! Argh!) , I am absolutely going to buy a few bottles of the CF dupe. I also have their dupe of Malle’s POAL but since I’ve never owned or even smelled the original, it will be a challenge to say how close is it. I will say that it has more reviews than the handful for CF, so I’m hopeful.
Good morning.
Sotd is Ambre Sultan.
Finally it’s cool enough to bring out the big guns!
Oh this one is wonderful!
Good morning, everyone! Dark morning, but I’m taking a day of vacation to work on all the personal stuff and restore my sanity, so it’s figuratively bright.
In PdN Ambre Cashmere this morning, because the sample caught my eye in the drawer and it’s one of my few with vanilla. Yesterday was Felanilla. I’ll move towards the spice later this week, because I think I’ve about exhausted my vanilla collection.
You smell great!
Hope your sanity restoration is successful! I love Felanilla, burned through a decant fairly quickly.
Good morning, looks like our rain from the west got to the east!
Trying Bon Perfumer #302 – “Ambre, iris, santal & spices”.
Nordies carries these and the small ones are 28.00 clams.
302 sounds lovely — do let us know if it actually is, once you’ve formed an impression!
SheriG – here’s my afternoon impression. It’s sheer, doesn’t project a lot and lasts for several hours.
Not heavy amber, not overly spicy. I am so pleased with my purchase!
Thank goodness the rain went away. Just wait, I’ll bet I’ll step off the plane on Saturday to poring rain and cold air! ?
its all in the timing, isn’t it?
I know right. Like buying and selling stocks…
Hello everyone, nice and bright today in Ginger Piccante.
Such a pretty fragrance.
Love Natalie Merchant!! Such a unique voice.
Well, I bounced back from the disappointment of not getting the bottle of Shalimar MVP from guerlain.com.
I called the guerlain store in Las Vegas and spoke with a lovely gentleman named Theodore (iirc) who was delighted to take my money and send a bottle to my mail delivery service! So, that makes me a happy camper. He only had a few left, so I’m glad I called when I did and didn’t waffle.
Also, took a drive to a nearby area of civilization (Eugene. We don’t even have a Target in the small town where I’m contracted. No tjmaxx either. It’s the hinterlands.) and did a little retail therapy. Topped it off with a stay in a nice hotel (well, not anything close to a luxury hotel but quite a few steps up from my usual cheapskate hotels where the police tend to show up at least once in the night?) and lolled around in a king size bed watching the Halloween bake off while rubbing a T-Rex belly.
My retail therapy consisted of a small bottle of JM Myrrh and Tonka Intense, which I was surprised to find I loved. It’s very proper, well behaved and ladylike. Lady JM has every hair in place, never has chipped nail polish, is politically correct, and has a Stepford Wife vibe. Usually, not my MO, but I really like this one. Had no intention of buying any perfume but there it is.
I’m looking for a way to incorporate more veggies in my world of easy, cheap, healthy vanlife meals, so I bought a spiralizer at target and looked up a few minimal ingredient quick recipes. Now I need to grocery shop because I’m out of everything. If anyone has any meal suggestions or tips for using one of these, I’m all ears.
Happy Almost FriYAY!
Just now realizing it’s not Thursday! ?
Wow, that JM and king-size bed were REALLY effective! ?
Indeed! ?
Love your description of the JM! I confess I don’t use our spiralizer very often but we like zucchini noodles a lot.
We live a weird life, but I like it.? I have a feeling many people with a spiralizer have that exact same confession to make! I bought a package of already spiraled zucchini a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it with some olive oil and a bit of garlic paste. I overcooked them, but such is the learning process. Thought I could save money and spiral myself. It’s a $10 investment, so it won’t break the bank if I end up not using it.
I had so much fun reading about your king-size bed and perfume treat!
Thanks! The perfume was quite unexpected, but Non, je ne regrette rien!
I was tickled about you and T-Rex. Do you have a toaster oven? And an air fryer? I don’t have a toaster oven but have an air fryer (still in box after getting it a year earlier … but it will come out soon). I have been looking at toaster oven / air-fryer combos that may change my food game. I’m looking at a Cuisinart but have to do measurements. I should find the link from a real person’s review!
Toaster ovens, air fryers and such use a tremendous amount of energy, so I have neither. If I need to toast bread, bagels, or things like that I usually do it in a frying pan over my gas burner. And believe it or not, had a terrible night’s sleep on what was a very comfy hotel bed. Hardly got ANY sleep at all. T-Rex was quite put out and grumbly by my tossing and turning. But I did enjoy a looong luxurious hot hot hot shower! ?
I also ordered a bottle of Shalimar MVP from the Vegas boutique this morning. I was told that they only had 4 bottles left- apparently this was a very limited release. It is no longer available on the website. Fingers crossed that I like it!
Oh, good on you! When I talked to them yesterday, Theodore said they got an initial shipment which sold out in no time. Got a second shipment, which also sold out. But, he thinks in the mean time, some people who purchased from the second shipment found it elsewhere first, and just got a refund. Yesterday, he said he had six bottles left, so if anyone has even the slightest hankering for a bottle, I would NOT hesitate. Even if you hate it, you’ll be able to re-sell it easily. Just saying. ?
JM M&TI is my mom’s perfume and your description of *her* is pretty spot on! 🙂 She’s not so much a Stepford Wife, but she would take Blue Blood as a compliment.
That JM has been lurking on my FB wish list for a while now. You smell great!
Now I finally feel relieved that my Teams presentation is over. There were almost 90 people attending in the end which is crazy for me. Yes, I was stressed but it all worked in the end, I think I did well.
I wore my confidence booster, Prada Amber Pour Homme and it helped 🙂
Happy it went well!
Yay, Lucas, I knew you’d do well. Great choice in fragrance. Congratulations!
Yay Lucas
Hooray, you did it!!
well done!
So glad it went well!
Woo hoo! Now you need to reward yourself ?.
Congratulations!
YAY Lucasz, good for you.
Question. Is there much difference in the modern Prada amber to the OG?
I think it’s still pretty much the same.
Yay! Congrats!
Wearing Nicolai Vanille Tonka for the cinnamon and vanilla. I’m enjoying this CP and pumpkin spice just isn’t my thing, it’s the spices I love.
The sun is finally shining here! I have a massive morning glory that I planted too late last spring and it’s just now covered in buds, while October coolness has arrived at last. I keep rooting for it to bloom, I’ve only had a handful of those gorgeous blue flowers, but I’m afraid the frost will get it first.
LOVE Vanille Tonka! So much good inspiration for the CP here today.
Sitting in my faux lynx hoodie, which Adorable Hubby calls my Ewok Vest, with an alpaca sweater over another t neck sweater, with wool socks, heavy cord pants and fingerless gloves – we are resisting starting a fire for as long as possible…wearing Durga, which is more ladylike in cold weather and smells loverly, and drinking some high octane coffee with collagen, half and half, a slop of real vanilla, and a dash of nutmeg… I had a Zoom one on one with my supervisor, and he looked at my get up and said, Haven’t turned on your heat yet, huh? I like that, save resources where-ever you can. LOL. I restrained myself and did not say, “give me a big raise – have you seen the price of propane lately?” That bottle of Casablanca is inching closer and closer to my bank account…
Also, I found a yummy sounding recipe for spicy pumpkin oatmeal cookies, which I am going to try out tonight. Sort of like ginger molasses cookies, but with pumpkin and oatmeal, so have to be healthy, right?
That sounds so yummy! Let us know how it turns out.
Casablanca is beautiful!
Who makes Casablanca?
It’s bright and sunny here in SoCal although it’s currently a chilly 51 degrees. The 90s theme is marching on. I’m wearing vintage Chloe Narcisse. It’s a big fruity floral amber. It’s warm and perfect for today’s weather! I love it.
For those who missed my note yesterday and are interested. I’m gonna clean up, dust, polish, and reorganize my friend’s perfume closet today and I will be compiling a list of all her perfumes. I will post a limited list of the gems in there for all to see.
Ooh! This is so much fun, in a vicarious way
It is- I’ve been having a great time the past 6 weeks raiding her perfume cabinet. She has all these 80s and 90s FBs that she bought during that era, so they are all original formulations and she has preserved them well.
OOOH.
I am noisy, and this will peak my curiousity!
Ooh… can’t wait to “see”!
Yes! I love seeing other people’s bottle lists
Oh gosh guys, I’m still sorting out my friend’s perfume cabinet. It’s taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I think I’m gonna have to post that limited list tomorrow. Sorry!
Take all the time you need. We can wait! ?
This community is the best! ❤️
I feel like one could throw a dart at the Serge Lutens lineup and have a good chance of hitting something CP compliant! I’m in Fille en Aiguilles today, which is pulling triple duty by fitting the pumpkin spice theme, being warm and cozy on a cool, grey day, and suiting the tone of today’s work tasks, which include a rare in-person meeting with a group of various Persons With Opinions to discuss wildfire and forest management. At least a couple of these people have prickly, combative stances so I’m hoping to convey warmth and calm competence in woodsy environments. Fille en Aiguilles to me says, “I’m a woman who can run a chainsaw and brew tea from Douglas-fir tips; I’m at home barefoot in the forest wilderness and I have fabulous hair, and I’m deeply benevolent.” Funny, the things perfumes say to us…
Lovely post. Good luck!
You’ve imbued so much personality into Fille en Aiguilles, making me love it even more!
I am definitely wearing this tomorrow – what a picture!
That’s a lovely cool weather pick!
Hope it worked!!
Keep that perfume talking to you, it’s saying great stuff!
Robin, I love your fragrance and tea pairing today. The photo matches too!
I’m commando so far, trying to hold out because my Shalimar MVP is supposed to arrive today. But it’s tempting to spritz on something, there are so many good spicy scents mentioned today! This week’s CP is very much up up my alley.
I hope you enjoy your new bottle! Let us know what you think.
Where is your new bottle from, I have been stalking the Guerlain website ?
Guerlain customer service rep on the website said that it will not be restocked- check the Las Vegas Boutique.
I managed to get one on their site last week… quite a few of us did! I just checked and gosh, looks like it’s gone from the site! It does not even list that it’s out of stock (which was how it was listed for many weeks before it finally popped back on).
I’m in the deeply lovely and terrifically spicy Anarchy, which is the discontinued dupe of the discontinued original Chaos. It’s like Arabie, but without the distinct food vibe that bothers a lot of people (I should mention that I am not one of those people, and I love Arabie).
Gonna go back in for an additional spritz just to get me through my upcoming Zoom meetings……
Have a great day, everybody, and you all smell marvelous!
I never did smell Chaos, but I am sure you smelled wonderful…hope it got you though the meetings 🙂
Tea For Two, which definitely hits the spice quota for today. Getting ready to lead a meeting I usually do not lead, but the person who does is out for a family emergency so here I am. Had to throw everything together last minute which I hate.
Sorry you were thrown in at the last minute! I’ve been there!
How did it go? I bet you nailed it
Hope that everything went well despite the lack of prep time.
Wearing 5 O’clock au Gingembre, which I bought when I was yearning for JM’s ginger bikkie. The first hour continues to remind me of Santal 33’s sharpness, but fortunately it does dry down to a pleasant, spicy murmur.
Hey AnnieA,
This is my all time favourite Serge Lutens. I’m going to wear it today in your honour.
I am in the opposite of spice today, in a generous lashing of Nuit de Cellophane–which defies its punky name and is in fact a pretty, crystalline jasmine rounded by fruit. No spice. No funkiness. No indole. YMMV.
I love that one- beautiful osmanthus note. I, too, have a FB of that one. You some wonderful!
The power of suggestion! Now I too smell the apricot-osmanthus note upon reapplication.
? I love osmanthus.
That sounds really love- really crisp, edgy and fresh.
I’ve got gallons (well 100 mls to be precise, so figuratively I’VE GOT GALLONS). Ping me and I am more than happy to send you a sample.
ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
NB, this one isn’t very edgy.
Oh gosh- thank you!
Tuesday!
Wet- VERY WET, windy but mildly chilly. The leaves are golden but being steadily stripped off the trees. Autumn has definitely returned to the PNW!
1) In a light spritz of Boucheron.
2) Started my cider project. I did start to build my press; but a neighbor lent me a press he had idling in his garage. But I left the apples too long this year- the pecks that I had picked were wormy, waterlogged, or both. I wound up only pressing about 5 pounds really of all that. I supplemented with organic juice from the farmer’s market and added DAP (yeast nutrient) and wine yeast. I am going to experiment- let one gallon go as usual, and then add raspberries or cherries to the second gallon.
3) Next project will be kombucha or fermented soda and making cheese.
Oh, I loved making kombucha! I always added berries before my second fermentation and it turned out spectacular! The only reason I stopped making it is because a) not very realistic living in van! And b) my dentist told me because it’s so acidic it was wrecking havoc with my tooth enamel, which was not great to begin with. I’d love to hear how and what you do with your kombucha. ?
Van is VERY close quarters for fermenting! And yes- kombucha can be very acidic (part of the reason it is so good for the insides) and I have to restrain myself!
https://nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/shining-cuckoo
I slept with the window open and was awakened by the dawn chorus ( is that a first world problem?). As I was listening to the jangle of calls I heard my first shining cuckoo of spring . I’ve mentioned them before, I’m sure. They migrate from the Solomon Islands and New Guinea every spring, and lay their eggs in the nests of the tiny grey warblers who then have to feed and raise the young. The cuckoos have a very distinctive call so you often hear them ( if you live near a grey warbler population) but I’ve only ever seen two in my life…the last one flew into my kitchen window and died ( definitely a first world problem for birds – was reading about all the birds flying into the One world trade centre this year). Wearing SL Couche du Diable , really lovely amber, leather, sweet spice
They’re so beautiful! And being awakened by the dawn chorus is a problem I always love to have. On the birds-and-windows front, there’s a male western bluebird here who spends the entire day alternately fighting with his reflection in my guest room window and peering in at us — I worry that he’s going to neglect his other duties or give himself an ulcer. And you’ve no idea how greasy birds are until you have to clean a window or rear-view mirror that a bluebird has been quarrelling with himself up against! Last week, a juvenile red-shouldered hawk swooped down and tried to catch him mid-quarrel, and missed and flew into the window instead. Fortunately it was fine, and has since been busy swooping at the quails in the front yard, but boy, did that ever make a big boom!
There’s been a big bird kill problem with migrating birds in Philadelphia for the past couple of years or so. They’ve been hitting windows in the skyscrapers at night. There were plans to either turn down the intensity of the lights, or put a coating on the windows to make them less attractive to birds. I don’t know what became of either one of those ideas.
Eau Duelle, because I don’t have many spicy perfumes. It starts so good, and then there is a note I don’t like, could maybe it’s the woody scent.
I tested Angelique Noire today and my first impression was that it is what I’d hoped Eau Duelle would be – more vanilla and less overbearing woods.
Good to know, I will remember this when I go to a perfume shop in the future
Scent twins with Robin! SL Rousse today. Yesterday I swapped my summer and winter scents, so now I can play along with the CP for the rest of the week.
Cleanup from this weekend’s storm continues. We got 7.5″ of rain; peak wind gust of 46 mph. My driveway and decks are carpeted with green leaves. We had a big oak tree break off at the base and get hung up in other trees. Gonna have to hire the pro’s to get it taken down safely. At least it’s just hanging over the road, not the house.
Yikes! That tree situation sounds scary!
Hey twin!
That is a really impressive amount of rain, and so sorry about your tree but glad it was not worse…better over the road than your house. Good luck getting a tree person asap!
I’m so sorry about your tree, it’s tragic when a big one goes down, even if no human gets hurt. Good luck with the removal.
I’m in Sisley Eau du Soir, which has some pepper in it, so I’m participating in the cp in a small way. This is a spine strengthener for me.
Hubster got home about 7:30pm last night. He finally saw the doctor at 6pm. His eye looks mostly fine, except for a bruised retina. I didn’t know that could even happen! He’ll have some tests in the next couple of weeks to learn more. So, we wait. Thanks for the support yesterday, y’all. ❤️
Hope he recovers ?
Oof, I missed this yesterday, but fingers crossed that everything will work out fine!
Youch! That sounds incredibly painful? Is it something you just wait out until it heals?
His doctor said it could be caused by a lack of circulation to the retina, so he’ll have his carotid artery checked. Thing is, he just had it checked a couple of months ago….so…?
Best of luck with your husband’s eye woes! You smell great in Sisley.
Ow ow ow! I didn’t know that a retina could get bruised either. Sounds painful and kinda gross.
Oh no! He did have a cardiac procedure a year ago so wondering it’s all related?
I did not know this could happen either. Glad it is not worse, hope they figure out what caused it.
I just took the last of my pain pills and am hoping it helps me sleep for an afternoon nap. I was awake watching tv until 5:30 am last night. I’m slowly improving but pain makes it hard to sleep. Sorry to complain! A kind friend visited today and brought cat food, much appreciated by all. A former student is going to bring me a King Ranch casserole later. I’m lucky!
Today I’m wearing Camel and the cinnamon is quite potent. I smell like a nice cookie or breakfast bun!
Looking forward to watching the ball game tonight! And also to a prediction of cooler weather tomorrow. I’m ready to turn off the A/C and put on a long-sleeved shirt!
Sorry you’re in pain, Calypso 🙁 but you smell wonderful.
Hope you are napping now, and that tonight’s game will be exciting so you’ll only feel football fun! Had to look up the casserole but that sounds perfect for our weather; hope yours cools off soon.
I’m so sorry to hear you’re in such pain, it sounds very frustrating and I’m sure the lack of sleep is not helping!
I’m also off to google what a King Ranch casserole is!
Hope that you got a nap in, and that the game turns out to be something enjoyable for you.
Also going to look up what a King Ranch casserole is. I’ve never heard of it before.
I hope you got some rest this afternoon. How nice to have a King Ranch casserole! You’ll be able to eat off that for awhile.
⚾️⚾️⚾️Gooooo Astrooooos !!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️
Me 3 (or 4) on having to google the casserole!
But so sorry, that sounds horrid. Are more pain pills coming, or is that it?
Ack…by “that” in the second sentence I meant the pain, not the casserole! The casserole sounds delicious.
In Ambre Narguilé today, smelling like just the tastiest apple pie 🙂 Apple pie spices overlap pretty well with pumpkin spices, don’t you think?
YUM! Definitely a perfect overlap.
After reading yesterday’s comments and happening upon one of my vintage Tabu decants last night while searching for something else, Tabu is my scent today. It definitely works for the CP with clove and other spices. It’s also a ridiculously good perfume! I can’t stop smelling myself. Happy to have a 60ml vintage splash bottle plus two good sized decants, so I should never run out.
You smell wonderful – scent and yesterday’s comment’s follower twin.
Woohoo, you smell great too, twin.
I wore ginger on Sunday in The Ruthless Countess Dorothea and clove and cinnamon yesterday in Musc Ravageur, so I’m back in ginger today, Origin’s Ginger Essence. I have enough spicy fragrances for a couple of weeks, I think. I had use ’em or lose ’em Starbucks points this month, too, so I am drinking an actual Pumpkin Spice Latte. Grande. 🙂
WOW! That’s QUADRUPLE points for the CP. Amazing
Excellent.
SotD copying Pyramus from yesterday in Tabu. It’s a scent that is very much in my wheelhouse, but one that has no sentimental associations. I have an ’80’s-ish bottle that seems to have held up. It has a nice quality of *let’s smell good while we hang out at home, but hey if someone calls, I’m up for dinner and a show!*
Joining you in Tabu. I bet you smell fantastic in vintage! Mine is a newer version, just a few years old.
I love your description, MossyBerry!
2.5 inches of rain so far today and counting. Wet wet wet. Last night there were orange flashes of lightning outside when the storm front moved thru.
SOTD = same as it has been for a while, No. 5 L’Eau. Lillyjo, you get an enabler pin for this one. Not at all spicy, but I am enjoying it very much.
You smell wonderful!
I’m in Oud Bouquet today. Beautiful!! Somewhat it is reminiscent of chocolate praline to my nose. Just the overall effect as it has no chocolate in it’s notes.
Sounds yummy!
Just a reminder that you claimed one of my splits, but I haven’t gotten an email from you yet!
My SOTD was Monyette, which is a yummy creamy gardenia and is totally inappropriate for the CP and the buckets of rain we are getting today, but it was calling to me.
Thanks for the reminder of Natalie Merchant’s birthday, Robin! She is my favorite singer and I am forever grateful that I found 10,000 Maniacs while I was an impressionable tween. Definitely a positive influence on me.
Drinking black snail tea by the gallon today. 🙂
Hi Vee! I wanted to mention that I started Spooky kitty on probiotics. She likes it, so that’s one hurdle down. She hasn’t been taking them long enough to see results, but the fact that I can get her to take it is a major win.
Oh, I am so happy to hear that! I hope it works well for her.
I’ll let you know.
It is really hard to believe she is 58!
So late but I wanted to post my scent of the day!
SOTD = Aftelier Bergamoss EDP and BDK Gris Charnel
Not layered because there’s nothing to tie them together. I wore Bergamoss in the morning and then Gris Charnel after Bergamoss wore off after 5 hours. Each is wonderful!

Oo, Bergamoss! I’ve only tried the solid, and loved it. It’s filed with my ‘wood nymph’ perfumes, of which I have rather a few…
Joining this week’s spice stampede in Jungle L’Elephant! Wow, this is potent stuff! I spritzed my neck once and rubbed my wrists on the same spot, and that little bit is still going strong hours later. In small, does, though, it’s really lovely and I’m enjoying it very much.
