It's BUB Frenzy Friday! Our community project for today: Wear a fragrance that inspired you to buy a backup bottle (or that you wish you wish you had a backup bottle of, or you're thinking about buying a backup bottle). (Thanks go to chocolatemarzipan8 for the suggestion.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I do not really have any proper back up bottles, but I do have bottles I bought before I'd quite finished the first one, and today I'm in one of those: Carthusia Mediterraneo.
Reminder: on 8/6 we're celebrating Happiness Happens Month. Wear a happy fragrance, and tell us about something that's made you happy recently.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy Friday!
BUBs
Indochine
Ta’if
Phi Rose de Kandahar
Box of Eels
Volutes
Passage D’enfer
Shanghai Lily
That’s a seriously cool list of BUBs.
Plus Chergui:)
Ohhh, I love your BUB list!
Good idea to list them! As fun as the quarterly buying poll…
Oh wow, what Portia said. I have at least a little of all of those, and would love FBs of most of them. Nice!
Wow- you will smell incredible FOREVER!
Yep I want to leave this world smelling great!
Love your philosophy! I once read that Vivian Leigh died wearing Ma Griffe and with scented candles burning.
What a gorgeous list of BUBs!
Thank you!
Sacrebleu–I have 2 or 3 backups so I should be set for a few decades
Phew! Also, the name reminds me of a Tintin-type swear…
I actually thought you were swearing and hadn’t mentioned a fragrance at all! 🙂
Same here 😀
Sacrebleu is definitely BUB worthy!
In 2010 I bought a bell jar of SL Fumerie Turque at the Palais Royale in Paris. A few years ago in Montréal, Ogilvy had the Vapo Tout Noir of FT, and my reasoning will be familiar to at least some of you: “I wear it a lot, and if I empty out one of the 30-mL sprays, I can refill it from the bell jar. It’s perfect!”
I hardly need tell you that I haven’t even half finished one of the spray bottles yet. But I am wearing FT today and it is gorgeous, intoxicating, one of my favourite scents of the entire Lutens line, and of the 21st century.
I love the mind games we play with ourselves when buying perfume.
mind games? hmmm. I find this totally rational. hehehehe
Your logic is impeccable. My husband wears and loves FTT. You smell great!
FT was discontinued and has disappeared even from eBay, so that was a wise choice!
I don’t know if you will be relieved to learn that it hasn’t been discontinued, or dismayed to learn that it’s now in that tall black Gratte-Ciel (“skyscraper”) bottle for a shocking $375 USD.
At any rate, yes, I do have a lifetime’s supply.
I did not know this ( clutches bell jar of FT closer)
Vintage Caleche edt as promised yesterday. The one and only thing that could even vaguely be considered a BUB in my collection. I like to use things up! And I have repurchased some stuff, but generally, using it up adds to the ethereal quality of perfume and I like that.
I like to use things up too! So many perfumes out there to love.
You smell gorgeous!
You smell so elegant. I have vintage extrait, two 30ml bottles and it’s one of my most worn scent.
Ahh, using things up is the unattainable goal for me….
Zero CP points today because I was chatting online and talked about a particular fragrance with a friend and then we both went and spritzed it. Because it is so big, lush and lavishly feral putting anything over it doesn’t make sense. It’s Battaniye by Pekji. A dark patchouli/amber bomb.
As for backups, yeah, I was going to wear Alahine by Too Cabanel. Went through my first half a 50ml in a year and thought that kind of wear was going to continue so backed up but still haven’t finished the original bottle.
There are also a bunch of back ups around here for anything DCd or vintage that I love. Just in case.
Portia x
Portia, you would win this contest as you have more backups than any of us!!!
HA! Maybe, there’s quite a collection of BUBs in this room.
Excellent CP Brigitte, I feel SEEN
yay!
Maybe you could just post a photo of all your BUBs, Portia! I’m sure Robin would award many CP points!
HA! Nope, I’m way too embarrassed. They would possibly terrify me and cause me to seriously rethink my life choices.
regret nothing!
Thanks Vee,
Harder than it sounds but I’ll give it a red hot go
If your BUBs are all of things you love, that’s doing pretty darn good! Means that you haven’t fallen to a change of heart or nose.
Hey Jalapeño,
I wear most of them very regularly but a couple are packed away and rarely get a spritz. I need to get them into the (not very) light.
I’m in Assam of India again and…that’s a thunk. I don’t have a single bub. I do have some minis of full bottles I have, so maybe half a point for the cp?
I’m off today and it’s the start of a 6 day weekend!? It’s beautiful this morning and we are supposed to have good weather this weekend too. After 2 nights of interrupted sleep due to storms, I slept like a rock last night! Strange, strange dreams.
The painters have been scraping and prepping the house for several days, I think today they will start the actual painting. Excited to see how the color looks.
In other terrifying news, we’ve caught a mouse in the house for the last 2 nights. As you may (or may not) recall, I hate mice!! My husband’s theory is that the painters working around the outside of the house have disturbed them and now they are seeking refuge INside the house. Ugh. I suppose after the painters are done I will need to contract some sort of pest control. First world problems.
Have any friends who can loan you their cat for a week?
Lol. I would seriously consider it if our entire family weren’t allergic. madtownteen has actually broken out in hives after being over at a friend’s house who had cats.?
Oh no! My daughter is very allergic also. She’s dating a guy who has had cats in his apartment and she is having issues when she visits him.
I hope you get your mouse issue cleared up asap, and can enjoy your extended break!
Enjoy your vacation and hopefully soon the freshly painted house! Sorry about the mice though. Ugh.
Thanks cazaubon!
I just discovered that I have a mouse (or several) last night! And, gosh darn it all, I set traps and they came and ate the peanut butter off the traps without springing them. No idea how they’re getting in as I’ve steel-woolled the heck out of this place, but they find a way…
Oh no! Sneaky little critters. It’s amazing what a small hole they will find to get in. I think they can get in through a hole about the diameter of a pencil. Good luck!
YUP- mice (and rats) have very flexible bones and their front teeth grow FOREVER, so they will nibble, nibble nibble away at the tiniest of holes.
Get an exterminator- they are worth the cost- and they will find the entry point and help you will stopping it up.
It seems many are experiencing rodent problems, several friends have reported the same.
I wonder if the reopening, with more traffic is scaring away predators like foxes and coyotes?
Well, I live out in the boonies with the foxes and everything else, so mice aren’t too surprising, but I do wonder if drought stress is a factor. After all, we have ample food and water indoors!
Mice. Cute outside; not inside. I suggest a check of any stored/off season clothes you may have right away! We had mice in our pre-cat days, and they destroyed some of my winter things with gnawing staining!
Ditto on the cute outside, very cute but can’t be anywhere near them…
Bleah on mice! Some dogs are good at keeping them at bay, too. Failing that, get a good exterminator ASAP!
my BUB-Songes
I have less than a half a bottle and another full one waiting..
I am happy I have this because Goutal is almost impossible to find here in the USA
Songes smells like heated flesh on a island surrounded by flowers.
I love scents that invoke this lazy summer feel. I liked Terracotta by Guerlain, never bought a bottle though, and I have never tried Bronze Goddess by EL
Busy with my in-laws these days-eating way too much and of course lots of chai.
I love your perfume choice, and love that the In-laws made it. Enjoy the chai tea! 🙂
Songes always reminds me of you. Love that description.
For what it’s worth, I’ve tried EL bronze goddess and I know it gets a lot of love here, but I much prefer Terracotta.
So happy you are spending lots of time with the in-laws and drinking lots of chai- making up for lost time. Were they thrilled to see your littles again?
Yay for finally getting to see your in laws again and having chai! Yoo smell wonderful.
Love Songes and family catch ups. Enjoy them both.
Been a while since I’ve seen you post about Songes.
Yes, it’s been awhile.
I think last year during the shutdown I only wore Shalimar!
I don’t have many BUBs, but the most recently purchased one is Niki de Saint Phalle. I even found a bottle with my zodiac sign on it. So that is what I’m wearing. Although, like many others, I’m still on the original bottle.
I loved the zodiac bottles, so very quirky. I have one for myself as well (Gemini). You smell marvelous!
I have one bottle, no BUB, but it has my zodiac sign too. So cute!
This is one of the perfumes I’ve hoarded quite a lot of. Those zodiac bottles are so cool, may be a couple here too.
This is something I would also buy if I found it for cheap. Great choice
Those zodiac bottles were awesome!
The largest bottle of perfume I have is Cologne of the Missions at 250mls. It was a very good blind buy – and despite the enormous size I am a bit concerned to see the level DECREASING (scary music). I seldom wear it alone anymore but there are at least 3 other perfumes I have that it vastly improves (in fact I wouldn’t wear them without it). Today though I’m wearing a vanilla relative, Casmir, together with SMN’s Mughetto. Each is 100mls so I’m on safe ground here! If anyone can explain how a soapy LOTV smells SO good with a woody pudding I would much appreciate it!
Was this the brand that start out pleasant and reasonable, and then shot up price-wise in a vertiginous manner?
Yes.
They discontinued all the gorgeous but highly affordable fragrances . Then months later came out with new fragrances in new packaging with hefty price tags.
I could kick myself for not buying each fragrance when ULTA did a bogo to get rid of the inventory.
Me too! I did get two, but should have just scooped them all up. Little did I know.
I should have scooped them all up too!!!
The orange blossom was my favorite, especially the body cream.
I liked them all but my favorite was the Eau de Minimes (such a great herbal citrus) followed by the Eau de Missions (I have a partial bottle)
Saw your note below. I loved the Eau de Minimes too. Bought a tiny bottle of it, put it in my nightstand and forgot about it. Started using it during the day, loved it, and of course couldn’t find it when I went back to the Ulta site. ?
that one was soooo good in the heat!!!!
Ohhh, so that’s what happened! I’m joining everyone in wishing I’d purchased bottles on the cheap. Not like I ‘need’ more juice but… 😀
it’s frustrating!!! Would have made good inexpensive splitmeets had any bought the 250 ml ones.
Oof, that’s so annoying when manufacturers do that…
Has anyone smelled their new scents. Iv seen they are available in 10ml which is always appealing!
I love the thought of 10 ml bottles but it seems they not available in the U.S.? Hmmmm. Need to investigate.
I like the idea but ultimately it will either be a scent I don’t love – in which case 10ml is more than I need – or it will be (less likely) something I DO love and then 10ml is not enough! 😀
I realized this morning that I actually DO have one BUB – Mediterraneo. I completely forgot that, in my joy at owning the Big Bottle, I had moved the Little Bottle to the shelf with my travel decants. But my realization came too late – I had already spritzed on Eau d’Hadrien, which is one I could definitely see owning a BUB of.
Ah, we are sorta BuB twins! Except I did eventually drain my old bottle.
I’m in Regime des Fleurs Personal Space Vines for the CP, because the Personal Space line sent me into somthing of a frenzy to find BUBs. I had samples of the PS line and loved 4 of the 5, but had trouble finding them in FB. Once I did, I immediately got antsy that they were being discontinued, so I stayed up late one night hunting for BUBs (my original sources had all sold out). It appears they were discontinued, so I’m glad I did.
My full BUB list:
CdG Zagorsk
Lubin Grisette
Regime des Fleurs Falls
Regime des Fleurs Shells
Regime des Fleurs Vines
Regime des Fleurs Waves
Drinking Chocolate Puer today and gearing up to help my parents move out the house they have lived in for ~45 years (and my childhood home). I’m glad it will be exhausting physical work because it will keep me from being overwhelmed by the emotional aspect of it.
Bon courage for the move!
Thanks. They made the decision to move more than a year ago, but covid put everything on hold, so at least I’ve been mentally preparing for a while.
Good luck!
Thanks sistine!
Hope it goes well: I second cazaubon’s wish! My parents moved several times, but I always felt sad as they sold or gave their unneeded things. I can’t say I ever regretted keeping something I was unsure of; stuff can always be shared later.
Thanks MossyBerry. Luckily all of my stuff that had been lingering there is already moved to my place/tossed, and (I’m told) my parents have already thrown away everything they are not taking, so no decisions need to be made, just physical labor and saying goodbye to the house.
That’s enough emotional and physical work — good luck!
I wish you good luck and lots of endurance for that move. My brother and I have had to move our Mom into different places twice this year, and it’s incredibly fatiguing. Both physically and mentally.
Happy Friday all! My SOTD (and BUB) is Fendi. I have three backups of this one. Drinking cup of coffee #2, need to wake up…
My backup bottles (all vintage) are:
Niki de St Phalle
Adrienne Vittadini
Bal A Versailles
Fendi, Asja, and Life Essence
Estee Lauder Aliage & Knowing
Jessica McClintock
Minuit Enchante Laura Mercier
Fresh Cucumber Baie
Eau des Merveilles Hermès
Hermes Amazone
Miller Harris Fig Amere
Narciso Rodriguez Musc for Her Oil Parfum
Ralph Lauren Lauren & RL Safari
Alessandro Dell’ Acqua
Roger & Gallet Bouquet Imperiale & Fleur de Figuier
Shiseido Feminite du Bois, Murasaki, & Zen
Insanely jealous of your Aliage and Lauren (wore those in the 70s) and Safari (wore the perfume in the 90s)
Thanks! Aliage is so refreshing, it reminds me of summers on Long Island. *sigh*
Great BUB list! Which Zen do you have? I loved Zen 2000, in the white bottle. So sad it’s gone.
All of my BUB are vintage, the Zen is from the 1980s.
Super cool BUB line up.
Thanks! 🙂
Jessica McClintock was so pretty back in the day.
? that is some list
Wearing Dusita Douceur de Siam, easily my third bottle. The love continues!
Since it’s been fun to see other people’s lists, I dove into my armoire:
*PN Baikal Leather Intense -halfway through the first 30 ml bottle in the past year
*Anais Anais – don’t know when I will break this out – was most recently a bedtime scent
*Oud Bouquet – bought from a perfume pal at a good price
*Parda Infusion d’Iris Absolu – superseded by:
*AG Heure Exquise – slightl pong of vase water, superseded by:
*L’Attesa – probably will use this when first 30 ml finished – hope Fickle Nose doesn’t strike again
Oh, oops, didn’t look deeply enough into the armoire: there is also a backup bottle of Yves Rocher Rose Oud bought at a killer price, and a huge tester of ELO Bendelirious, which I might well start but am unsure of ever finishing…
Isn’t Yves Rocher Rose Oud fabulous, punching so far above its price range.
I don’t have a BUB of Theorema, but I sincerely wish I did, so that’s my pick for the day, and I smell marvelous!
Yes, you do!
You smell marvelous! Theorema is astoundingly gorgeous.
I didn’t see that you are also in Theorema before I posted, but YAY!
Theorema is wonderful!
You do smell wonderful!
Nice to see you, Lisa!
Hey, girlfriend! I’ve been super busy, and have had little time to visit with y’all here. Good to see you, too!
If I’d ever run across another bottle in person, I would have bought it! But not sure I’ll drain mine anyway.
I’m in The 2nd Cumming again today since I enjoyed it so thoroughly yesterday, and I’m kicking myself for not having bought a back-up bottle of this before it was discontinued. If only we had a crystal ball to see which favorites will wind up getting the axe in the future! I have a mini of After Party on the way, which is supposed to be a close replacement, so we’ll see.
I should have bought that one, or the original…agree we all need crystal balls!
I’m not sure I want to figure out my full BUB list. I know I have BUBs of my two favorite scents — Armani Prive Bois d’Encens and VCA California Reverie. Then there’s the sensible small sizes of Atelier Cologne Clementine California and Love Osmanthus, which were later followed by completely unnecessary FBs (got suckered by those pretty limited edition bottles!) And we won’t discuss the Vol de Nuit situation.
But today’s scent is the one I had to do the most hunting to find, seeing as it was already discontinued before I first smelled it: Guerlain Vetiver Pour Elle. I’ve got a bee bottle, and two partial older 50 ml bottles (the bottle with the leaf design on it). That ought to be enough.
Had a good laugh over your “Vol de Nuit situation”! I have a Sous le Vent situation myself.
That’s a nice situation to be in 🙂
You gotta love those Vol de Nuit situations. I’ve found myself in a few “situations” also! ? ?
A Vol de Nuit situation you say? I kinda have a Organza Indecence situation, but they looks so much like humans in funny hats that I’d rather call them a family.
Same. Organza Indecence clone Gold, by Commodity, as well.
?
that Armani is a beauty, Pixel!
In my opinion, one cannot have enough of vintage Guerlain. They literally don’t make them like they used to (though I’m not mad about many of the current formulae.)
Is there anything current of Guerlain’s that you are angry about?
? I find myself in a bit of a Chanel19 situation.
Oh, now I wish had that kind of situation!
I think we can now safely use “situation” to cover a multitude of embarrassing problems ?
Hello all!
I’m in one of my “crown jewel” perfumes, Champagne parfum, which I just happened to find in League City, TX. There were three and they were stickered at $300. But the lovely owner gave me a few on all three, totalling less that one of them originally. I don’t regret it!
Have a great day all.
You smell excellent! I have a couple mini’s of that, and it is divine.
It really is. I adore the EdT too, but the parfum is just phenomenal.
I have a mini of Champagne, too, and always wear it on New Year’s Eve.
Perfect occasion!
You smell wonderful!
I’m in a dab of Theorema, generally a cool weather fragrance for me, but once I thought of it for the cp, I couldn’t not wear it. My offerings are maybe only worth half a point as Madtowngirl said above as these are not BUBs, but the same fragrance in a different format:
– Theorema bottle and mini
– Gypsy Water travel sprays and body lotion
– Mediterraneo bottle and hand lotion (thanks for reminding me about Mediterraneo, Robin!)
In other news, my retirement conversation with bosses at work took a different turn than I expected. They’d like me to consider staying part-time and being able to choose my hours and projects. Hmmmm. I would only do it for 3 – 6 months, but it might be a nice way to ease into retirement. OTOH, I know sometimes part-time becomes more time with less pay. I know I need to do whatever *I* want and not what they want, but does anyone here have thoughts to offer?
I’ve worked part time a couple of times over the past twenty years because of the kids and, for me, I always ended up being financially shafted and not really working less. Perhaps, if you have a job where you can just pack up when your hours are over and continue the next day, it may work. Perhaps someone else can chime in.
Yes, there definitely is a transition where the retiree is ‘reframing’ colleagues expectations, it’s an adjustment for everyone.
It might also be a good opportunity to create a mentoring program for a few employees interested in learning new.
If you decide to do part-time and it turns into full-time work, could you pull the plug then? In my industry, part-time was a joke, so that wasn’t an option for me.
Do covid restrictions make you feel like you might as well work? My husband kept working this past year since we couldn’t travel. He retires in a week! And we still can’t travel much, but eh, time’s up.
Yay for husband’s imminent retirement! Although in my case it ended up being too mich husband, I need to find a way to get him out of the house.
I consider that a huge compliment. At our University, retired Faculty can participate in Faculty Early Retirement Program (FERP). They are officially ‘retired’ but can work part time for five years, while accruing sick & vacation. Many appreciate the freedom and gentle transition into retirement and work the entire five year period.
Others work one or two years and opt to fully retire, saying the transition helped solidify their priorities.
The good news is, you are in the driver’s seat.
If you already know you would only do it for 3-6 months, why not try it? Especially if you’ll have that much control over hours and projects. I hope the plan includes your employer continuing to offer you regular benefits, even if pro-rated. If they want to treat you as an independent contractor, or pay you an hourly rate, you’ll want to make sure you charge the full value of your time, including benefits.
I thought I would retire a year ago, then COVID made my work situation both more interesting and more manageable (working from home), and this year looks fine too though back onsite most of the time. And yes, if I were able to travel with my husband as we used to, I’d be more tempted to turn in my laptop, but that travel hasn’t resumed yet. We’ll see if it ever does. Meanwhile, I’m firming up some of the legacies I hope to leave in my workplace when I do retire.
If you’re not desperate to get out and think it would be worth a try, you can say yes, with the caveat that if it turns out not to be fun or they abuse your hours, you can resign immediately.
Can you make sure your part time is paid per hour? Then at least if you do the big hours you’ll be doing them at consulting rates. Everything is less painful if they are paying extra, it will also make them think twice before offering you extra.
I did this. It was stressful in my case because there was still the same periodic major assignment to be done, and promised assistance did not arrive on time. OTOH, the extra time did enable me to orient and hand over responsibilities to a successor.
So I would say, do it if it works for you and you can envision how it will work out successfully with it really taking less of your time.
I eased into retirement and found it helpful. I made new daily routines and discovered on non-work days how to fill my time. Plus, the money made me realize I could manage just fine on my pension, and working part-time made me realize how nice it was to be somewhat detached from office gossip, politics, and awful co-workers.
What are YOUR thoughts on the part time option? Would you be doing it because it sounds interesting? Listen to what your intuition/gut tells you.
Part -time sounds like a great way to ease into retirement. You must insist on getting paid hourly or you will end up as you suspect of getting paid less for working more.
Thanks, everyone. I appreciate all the thoughts. I’m still sorting through what I think–it took me by surprise. Great suggestions here. ♥
I never thought I’d end up with BUBs. I just don’t wear enough sprays to make a dent in any bottle. But I have a weakness for “deals too good to pass up on”.
Thus I have BUBs of:
SL Bas de Soie – saw an original formulation NIB for half price
Deseo – saw a 30ml for next to nothing
Etro Shaal Nur – Had a gift card for a specific upmarket mall, where a perfume shop stocking Etro perfumes was located. Really – pretty lame as excuses go!
Wearing SL TC though. Merlin mentioned this as one of her BUBs and reminded me of it.
Glad I reminded you of the icy tuberose queen!
Shaal Nur is lovely!
A little birdie told me that I inspired this week’s CP so here it goes:
BUBS –
Heaven (thank you Undina and cassieflower for talking me into buying a back up before the prices went insane on ebay for vintage…this was my wedding day scent and my first date with hubby scent…and then I wore it exclusively for our entire year of dating)
Reglisse Noire (thank you Portia and Annie A for adding your vintage stash to my current formulation bottle)
Un Ete En Provence ( I had two minis and knoznoz made me look on ebay where I found 50 ml for ridiculous cheap…won’t even tell you how many I bought…my very first bottle I bought during my first trip to Paris in the early 90s so there’s a ton of memories attached to this one..it’s the second of the Escada LE and it came out in 94….been collecting the LEs since then…get one every year)
Tibetan Mountain Temple (thank you stinker kit for this one!!!! My absolute favorite Pacifica)
Wish I had a bottle of Cristalle before they discontinued it…right now I have just a decant…would have/should have bought a bottle plus two back ups. It was one of my all time favorite fragrances in elementary school and middle school and I drained about 10 bottles. back then there was oakmoss in it!!!!!
I’m sure that I am forgetting a few and I am also not counting the BUBS in the house that belong to other family members (Brit perfume, Vanilla Vera Cruz, Bali Lime Papaya, etc).
In reality I am wearing Nobile Patchouli. I am doing a repeat of the summer of 2016 when I wore Assam of India for seven weeks straight. I think I am on week three or four of Patchouli and will continue to wear it in August as well. It’s a no brainer and I get a ton of compliments from family , friends and strangers. These days my interest in perfume is just about non existent so I appreciate a grab and go kinda fragrance that smells good on me (or so folks have told me-LOL)
Gap Heaven always makes me think of you because I love the story associated with it.☺️ Did you see that Gap re-released those scents? Found at gap outlet I believe.
Good to see you cm8! Hope you and all the mini marzipans are well!
What????? Re- released the originals???? OK, your getting an enabler pin NOW because if I can get to a mall I might just get a bottle of each 🙂
All good chez Marzipan! Eldest worked two years as nurse in hospital now was accepted into a very competitive NP program full time. She starts in August.
Middle one working as a nurse’s aid in a hospital and will be starting her senior year as a nursing student in August.
Youngest decided to dual major at his engineering school (computer engineering and computer science). He’s completing half of his junior year this summer and still maintains a 4.0 GPA. His school is ranked on the top as one of the hardest to get an A in a class because there is NO curving. It’s hardcore.
Needless to say with all the insanity these days I feel extraordinarily blessed.
Hope you and the madtownteens are doing great as well!!! and I hope you are almost done with your schooling? If so, congrats!!! I am so grateful for you and all the nurses and hospital staff!!!
you’re ….damn autocorrect…lol
Great update on the mini-marzipans! God bless all the young people in healthcare, and their older colleagues. Wow, your son’s GPA is seriously impressive! Glad to know all are well.
I agree. God bless all the healthcare and front line workers.
You’re welcome! So glad the RN went to a good home, and I am quite sure that gifts do not count towards the stash – oh, there I go again getting this mixed up with quarterly poll.
LOL!
YOu can be rest assured RN went to a great home…much appreciated.
Tibetan Mountain Temple!! How dare they DC this beauty.
YAY for long term monogamous perfume commitments.
I know right? Don’t know why Pacifica did that. I thought there was a huge fan base.
I thought of you when you did your week of monogamy. I hope you try it again P!
I’ve been on a patchouli kick too.. just got a partial of Diptyque Tempo and using cartier L’Heure Défendue a lot. Due to moving stress my interest in perfume has been just about nil.
I think patchouli is a very soothing note…maybe thats why we are on a patch kick? My middle one already laid claim to my LHeure Defendue (“mom, DO NOT thunk this one!!! I want it for the winter!!!”)
I love that your BUBs are meaningful scents! Un Ete En Provence is by far my most worthwhile enabling — so glad you acted on the tip!
Nobile 1942 is an under appreciated brand, for sure. Their Ambra Nobile is the only amber I wear.
You’re creating a lemming!! I love amber perfumes!! I am very impressed by this line from what I have sampled ( which isn’t nearly enough,!)
Glad to see that you were able to participate in this CP, since you were its inspiration.
I’ve been laying low these days but I would have felt guilty not chiming in.
It’s always a pleasure hearing from you, no matter what.
For BUB day, I’m wearing JD Duality from Jeffrey Dame. I love it! It’s warm, with spices and vanilla, but not so warm that you can’t wear it in the summer. I like to support independent perfume brands, and it’s easy to support Jeffrey Dame Perfumery: so many quality options, at very affordable prices. I just got a sample of his new Singularity, and I look forward to trying it this weekend! Meanwhile, I’ll luxuriate in Duality, knowing I have plenty to spare.
You smell great! I love that one too and got the rollerball.
You know, I do smell pretty great, lol! It’s still very evident on my wrist, several hours later, and it makes me smile every time I catch a whiff.
I believe I see a bottle in my future.
I really like Singularity. Let us know what you think when you try it!
Love Jeffrey and his perfumes. I bet you smell killer.
You smell wonderful – thanks to a wonderful NST’er I got to try this!
I’m glad you did! This one’s a real love for me.
I am very fond of all the Dame products. Their rose body cream is to die for, and very reasonable.
Wearing vintage Mitsouko cologne today from the dime-shaped bottle. It came to me in my most exciting vintage perfume find, an unused set of 60s era extrait and cologne for under $20. I’m almost through the cologne but managed to find a backup from some drugstore that was selling off old stock online.
OMG! What a haul. What else was in it?
It was an umbrella bottle of extrait, one of those coin shaped bottles of cologne and a soap that I did end up tossing because it had gone crumbly. None of it opened and the perfume was/is in perfect condition. Just a total stroke of luck.
Oh wow – super envious here! Nice haul.
Love those stories – we should all keep seeking those dusty flea markets, old shops, and thrift stores.
Wow!
BUB: The only intentional bub I have is Prada Infusion d’Iris, the 2007 version. I loved it enough that I wanted to be sure to have a backup that smelled the same as the first. I have had other favorite fragrances undergo reformulation, so I wasn’t taking chances. It’s still a favorite, although I don’t reach for it often lately.
Currently wearing: Atelier Cologne Pacific Lime
LOVE Infusion d’Iris. I haven’t worn it in so long. My bottle is sitting on my bedside table now so I can wear it this evening. Thanks for the reminder of how good it is!
Curious, is yours EdP or EdT? Good for you for having a BUB. The reforms Prada made to les Infusions have changed them quite a bit, especially in the basenotes.
That’s so funny that you have it next to your bed; that’s exactly where mine has been sitting. I have EDP. I have a sample floating about of the newer version, and while the tweaks aren’t overwhelming at all, the older version remains my preference.
Enjoy it this evening!
Today’s BUB cp was probably the easiest one for me – there was never a doubt it would be Hermès Eau des Merveilles. I’ve loved this from first sniff, wear it frequently in the summer and never tire of it. Although I have several other Merveilles, the original is definitely my favorite and treasure my BUB.
Glad to see this week end. Hot, humid miserable weather; we lost our landline and internet in a nearby lightning strike during last Saturday’s storm (just now getting back to normal) and various other mixups not to mention the increasingly dire delta variant and the Jan . 6 hearings. Yuk to it all! Putting it all behind me today; weather is beautiful: windows open, no a/c or fans needed; grandkids are on their way over for a trip to our favorite park pool, then another classic rock concert in the park tonight. Soooo looking forward to it! Hope you all have some good things to look forward to this weekend!?
You smell amazing. Love Eau des Merveilles!
❤️
You smell wonderful. I love EdM too!
Does my FB + a mini count as BUBs? I think so.
I love the EdM mini, it comes with a cord so it can be worn as a necklace. I wear mine and think of it as my personal protection talisman, shield, and good-smell force field.
I have that same little mini but in the Elixir version, my second favorite Merveilles.
Laila, that sounds like a great program to put it all behind you — have a great time!
We did. We have a temporary phone hooked to the landline right now. It’s a rotary dial avocado phone! The funnest part of the day was trying to teach a 13-year old how to use a rotary dial phone. Wish I had videoed it! ?
That is too funny! Pretty sure my son would have no idea.
Enjoy your weekend Laila! It sounds like an excellent time!
It was. My grandtwins are almost 14 and headed to high school soon. Having missed so much of their life the past year or so due to the pandemic, I can’t believe how growed up they are! But today was just like old times and fantastic! ??
I have only one BUB – a travel spray of Arielle Shoshana’s Sunday.
Today I’m in CdG’s Odeur 53. Pretty sure I’ll never need a second bottle since this one is a giant 200 ml!
good for you! 200 ml is the handy vat size. 😉
LOL, tiffanie!!!!!!!
Touche!
Happy Friday everyone! I’m in Herba Fresca from a decant, and I’m wishing I had a bottle of this one. I don’t have a bunch of backups, but there are a few:
Orange Sanguine (several samples/travel sprays)
Theorema (a necessity)
Organza Indecence (another necessity)
4711 Mandarine & Cardamom (accidental BUB: bought a second bottle 3/2020 in a panic for a makeshift hand sanitizer)
Tauerville When We Cuddle
I have a couple of flavors of Opium and Shalimar, but those don’t count. Those were for research/continuing education.
I could have gone with Orange Sanguine but thunked my 200 ml bottle. Now all I have is some of a 30 ml that the eldest returned when she moved out of her current apartment. It’s starting to smell odd so I think I need to use it up.
Continuing education, lol. Perhaps that is how I should think of my Vol de Nuit situation (modern, vintage, EdT, EdC, parfum, ….)
That is definitely a continuing education situation, in my humble opinion! I think I’m slowly catching up to you …
oh! you made me realize that I have more than one decant of Orange Sanguine. 😀 I will use them up for sure, I love OS.
Orange Sanguine probably has the best orange note I have smelled. So juicy! ?
I have 2 BUB, both Serge Luten. Amber Sultan and Daim Blonde.
I hate that he changes his formulas! The newer Amber Sultan doesn’t smell anything like the older and it’s a crying shame. Daim Blonde smells the same but I won’t risk it so BUB?
And if I’d only know, I would have bought Tubereuse Criminelle and Iris Silver Mist and then bought bubs…I dithered, and now I don’t want the new versions.
Aromatics Elixir, I bought a BUB because they will reformulate for sure in the next time.
I also have a bottle of L Air de Rien, had to search a bit, because it’s discontinued now.
And I have a backup of Theo Fennel, although I will propably never empty my first bottle. But it was cheap, so no damage done.
I have started to use my BUB of Covet yesterday, because I emptied two used small bottles in the last two or three years.
Wise choice of Elixir!
Oh dear – will IFRA strike Aromatics? May be time to do a first strike for me then.
It isn’t only ifra you have to worry about. There’s also raw materials (rising costs or scarcity).
? I know. Climate change, IFRA. some days I’m tempted to buy everything of any quality in sight knowing it will be ‘vintage’ one one way or another in a few years.
That’s a bummer about L’Air de Rien being d/c’ed.
I have an embarrassingly large number of backup bottles so we won’t discuss that. ?
Wearing Diptyque Tempo again.
Top 5??? 🙂
Top 5 in number of backups or preference? LOL. I have probably 20 various bottles of Guerlain backups.
Guerlain has many that are worth of BUB status for sure. 🙂
This is encouraging to me 😀
You crack me up 🙂
That’s how I feel — no one needs to know! ?
Tempo is one of Diptyque’s best, IMO.
I have so many BUB od different perfumes that it was a tough one. I went with no 19 edp today. In the market for another Chanel BUB but have that on hold right now.
You made a good choice 🙂
Hooray for twinning!
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
Who would have doubted I have (many ?) BUB’s of this beauty?
https://www.instagram.com/p/CR9WnD0rXex/?utm_medium=copy_link
I will read the other comments later!
I had no doubt!
I knew I could count on you!
No doubts whatsoever! The only question I have is, do you have double digit BUBs of No. 19?
Nah, definitely not double-digits!
No doubt at all. But I am kinda curious how many you have ?
LOL. I have to count. I am positively angelic as compared with some who have confessed. I probably should go back to Undina’s Saturday Question having to do with BUBs.
No doubts here!
Thank you!
That’s entirely reasonable in my view.
It so is because it is so good! My BUBs are the current version too!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you!
Happy Friday! I’m really enjoying reading everyone’s BUB lists.
Sotd is Vol de Nuit because I just got a bottle (newer formulation) and talk today of vintage versions has me imagining how beautiful they must be.
As I looked through my BUBs, like others have said, they fall into the category of bottles I bought as backup because they were being dc’d or I worried they would be, and those I got “free” at a garage sale.
BUBs (intentional):
– Aedes de Venustas Signature
– Ambre a Levres
– Rodin Rodin
– Rodin Bis
– Prada Infusions d’Iris
BUBs (“free”/couldn’t pass up/might show up in a future swapmeet)
– SL Chergui
– SL Ambre Sultan
– SK Vierge de Fer
– Carthusia Aria di Capri
– CSP Vanille Abricot
Would You share with us which bottles did You obtain at a garage sale? Because I have always wondered if it is even possible to really find a bottle of a niche perfume at a yard sale…
I got a bottle of Nasomatto Pardon at the Salvation Army for $13!
Wow – it pays to keep your eyes open!
You clearly attend garage sales in the right parts! Just Wow!
Ohhhhh I am soooooooo jealous!!!!!!!! Wow. You know what? We have two Salvation Army stores within a 30 mile radius AND they do NOT let people donate ANY toiletries!!
I should have clarified – though I have found some great things, including vintage minis at estate/garage sales, the “garage” sale where I’ve gotten the good recent stuff is at my local perfume shop where (to my great delight) the owner has periodically done some purging 🙂
I love Vol de Nuit. You smell wonderful. I will buy a new bottle when my EdT runs out. 🙂
Hello NST!! Well I was going to wear a BUB fragrance BUT I forgot about the CP… I also forgot an important meeting today (and that’s not like me) because my 2 year old did not go to daycare today, she is sick with her number 2s and we have a doctors app. in a couple of hours. Right now she is napping but all morning I focused on feeding her light meals and keeping her hydrated.
I took a shower and got dressed while she is napping. After shower I reach for… A sample of Nightingale. So it’s opposite of even having one bottle of it. But I adore it. It smells like lemon with saffron on a base that resembles Tango by MM. The whole combo of notes makes me leave a trail that smells like… Coca Cola. Yummy and tasty. Oh and that long lasting base. It is definitely a FB purchase for me.
I sometimes cross Eau des Baux with 4711’s Lime & Nutmeg to get a perfect cola effect ?
Yum. I like cola fragrances. May have to try this. I have the Eau des Baux, just need the Lime & Nutmeg.
Hey ladybug, I have a goodly amount of Lime & Nutmeg. Drop me a line if you’d like me to send you some of it. ?
Yes you must – it is so refreshing in the heat – and doesn’t have any of the corrosive effects of actual cola!
I hope the little one is better!
Hello!
I tried Tommy Girl from a very small bottle, and then got a somewhat bigger version of that.
I got small bottles and decants of various sizes of The Different Company’s Osmanthus before getting a good-sized bottle at a good price. 🙂
I’d lost my bottle of Pacifica Island vanilla, so I figured that if I got a new bottle, I’d find the old one. And I did, a couple of days later. (lol)
Tommy Girl is so good, everyone should try it at least once. She deserves to be loved. 🙂
Hi there stranger! Long time, no sniff!
SotD = Vanille Galante
VG is more of a cold weather scent for me, but it’s lovely today. Happiness in a bottle.
I have two travel bottles of this scent, one is almost empty. Yay! The only other scent I have a BUB of is Terracotta. I wore it three days this past week.
Have loved reading everyone’s sotd choices and other musings this week. BUBs are a funny thing, we perfume people are an interesting crowd.
I had a second eye surgery on Tuesday so my online reading has been limited. My doctor is quite happy with my progress so far. She’s wonderful. In a week or two I should be back to full speed, or something close.
Happy FRIYAY! 😀
Glad to hear your surgery went well. Happy Friday to you too!
thank you, cazaubon!
Yay to surgery going well!
thank you, Ede97005. I am feeling a bit “yay” that it’s in the rearview mirror.
Excellent news from you!
we can all use more good news, yes? 😉
Good news Tiffanie and you smell lovely! Hope your vision continues to improve.
I appreciate your kind words, adanst 🙂 I think VG is truly lovely.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend tiffanie! ?
thanks, Nancyleandros! 😀
Yay for vision. Eye surgery is really such a miracle. Speedy healing!
It really is a miracle! 😀 My doctor is amazing.
Great news!
thanks, allo! 😀
You’re on your way to a full recovery!
whoop whoop! that’s the plan, hajusuuri. 🙂 I’m grateful things are moving along as expected. Hope my eyes will be stronger soon so I can talk more about perfume.
Fri-yay!
1) Points, sorta: I am wearing Cap Neroli, and yes, I have a bub for next summer. I am almost through this bottle!
2) It’s gonna be another scorcher today at 100F (37c). I spent the morning picking some flowers for the kitchen and doing a belated mulch cover of my celery starts, which were blasted by the sun. Sigh- I should have done it earlier, but my focus on kitchen let the garden suffer. After this heat wave subsides on Tuesday, I will be planting fresh starts and seeds for Sept/Oct/November.
3) Am also feeling a bit down- I always get this way at the end of a project, and it was one of the reasons why I left stage work- the high of stage construction and being in the project, the crashing lows when the production was done.
But no worries- I need to complete my Security+/CySa+ certs – I left them high and dry in June when starting the kitchen project!
Sorry about number 3 – and hope that Cap Neroli does it’s job of cheering you up! My mood is generally worse in summer and I’ve read that that is a bit of a phenomenon. I’m sure the heat waves are taking their toll.
Cap Neroli truly does lift the spirits!
And yes- there is a weariness from the excessive heat, sadness at the garden damage and sadness period for everyone right now. But small things like scent and looking at my cosy home does help.
I like to have overlapping projects for just that reason. Hope you feel better!
Revisiting Diptyque Eau des Sens because I miss it. If only those travel atomizers weren’t so overpriced!
Love this one and I have considered a BUB (I have about 1/4 of my 50 mL bottle left). Hope they are not thinking about discontinuing it.
I own not a single back up. Well, I have a couple of versions of vintage Coco, and Coco body cream—so sort of a back up situation. Oh wait, I also bought a vintage bottle of Knowing a month or so ago, as my current vintage bottle (curtesy of Pixel’s best friend’s cousin’s wife, or something like that 😉 !!) is running low. For no reason that I can recall, I’m in Nuit de Tuberose today 🙂
I think it is very prudent to do a BUB only if and when a current is running low – a goal for me.
You smell fabulous.
SOTD: Marni; more suited for fall/winter but with the A/C on I feel like it’s always winter, lol
Tried a new restaurant in my ‘hood last night and really enjoyed it. I plan to revisit again soon and hope to be a regular. The only downside was the loud music. I asked them to turn it down and they did slightly but not enough to my liking. Definitely a pet peeve of mine. At least there’s outdoors dining!
I hate loud music in restaurants too! It’s exhausting having to shout to talk to people at your own table. My mom has significant hearing loss and wears hearing aids, and loud restaurants are just impossible for her. We’ve tried using a microphone thing connected by bluetooth to her hearing aids and passing it around as we talk, and it’s still no good. Argh.
Continuing my Perfumer H obsession this week, I discovered (via Colognoisseur) another obscure brand that Lyn Harris has created perfumes for, plus a niche brand I should have remembered.
The obscure brand is LEGENDÄR or LGNDR, whose motto is “Simple. To the Point. LEGENDÄR.” They ONLY sell simple brass pens; leather document folders, mousepads, and cases of different sizes; and two fragrances by Lyn Harris — Bigarade Santal and Juniper Leather.
https://www.lgndr.com/products/#scents
I had to really persist to find the website because Google insisted on substituting “legendary” and showing me all sorts of nonsense. They do sell samples.
I was also reminded by Colognoisseur that three of the Cire Trudon perfumes were composed by Lyn Harris: II (or Deux), Olim, and Revolution.
Today I’m sampling Perfumer H Incense Water, which is part of the 2021 summer collection. It strikes me as something quite unusual: a sunny summer incense fragrance. Imagine being at a beach or on a safari and resting on a log warmed by the sun that turns out to smell of frankincense and sandalwood. Very relaxing!
Incense Water sounds lovely. How did you get samples?
I found a few on ebay. They included Atlas, which I liked very much and ordered from Perfumer H. I asked for samples with my order, and Incense Water was one they sent.
It’s not easy — the usual decanters don’t don’t seem to have this line, and the US stockists are a handful of design shops rather than perfume or department stores.
Of course, that challenge only makes the brand more interesting to me, lol.
Ooooooooooooh. Incense Water sounds wonderful.
I am lemming the Incense Water!
Too many BUBS to list, reason great deals and discontinuations happen do frequently, sigh.
Wearing RP Visa EDP, own a BUB 100ml, less than £30 and 50ml extrait which I adore.
Thank you for well wishes yesterday. Surgery is behind me and I’m now already home, relaxing. I can’t praise enough the medical staff, UK is rightly proud of its free National Health Service. I am on sick leave for the next three weeks and will make the most of it.
Glad to hear that your surgery went well yesterday! I was able to lurk, but not comment then. I hope that you heal quickly and without any incident. Hugs!
Thank you so much! hugs gratefully received.
Hope you heal well!
Thank you Karina! Some discomfort but no pain.
Here’s to healing quickly!
Thank you Hajusuuri. I’m OK this morning and a good supply of prescription pain-killers.
Yay, so glad!!
Thank you Robin, I received such good care, so thankful.
Great news! Continued good wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Thank you Laila!
I don’t have very many backups compared to the size of my collection. Just stuff that was discontinued or was reformulated into something different. My backups are:
Songes
Panthere de Cartier parfum
Box of Eels parfum
L’Heure Bleue parfum (vintage)
Shalimar…Mexique
Paco Rabanne La Nuit (vintage)
Stash
Acqua Viva
Today due to triple-digit temps I’m wearing Armani Prive Pivoine Suzhou. It’s light and won’t gas me out in the heat. The ones above are heavy hitters.
Joining you in triple digit temps. I’m so glad for A/C!
Hello NST! I’m back. I started traveling last night at 8:30pm Mountain Time, and ended my trip at 1:30pm Eastern Time. I’m pooped!
I can think of at least 2 perfumes where I have BUBs. Chopard Casmir, and Clinique Wrappings. I might have more, but I can’t recall anything else at the moment.
Commando today, because traveling. Also, this trip was not a good one for wearing perfume. I’ll spill my guts about that later, plus I have another episode of Airport/Flight Mishaps Bingo to share.
Glad you are back – hope your schedule is cleared for some rest and catch-up, and that the kitties did not snub you.
Hi MossyBerry! No kitty snubs here! They were very impatient for me to feed them their wet food, since I got home right around their typical lunchtime.
Welcome back Jalapeno! Hope you get some well deserved rest this weekend.
Thank you adanst! I am SO looking forward to sleeping in my bed tonight instead of on an airplane seat (ugh).
Ugh for the travel mishaps, wishing you a good recovery rest.
Thanks cazaubon! I’ve put some vegging out on my schedule. ?
So sorry to hear that your new house turned out to be such a bust.
Glad you are back home and that the cats welcomed you back without incident. Enjoy your own bed tonight; hope you get a good rest!
Thank you Gail!
Glad you’re back!
Thanks hajusuuri! Glad to be back.
I bet you’re wiped out. Welcome home.
I am. Thanks Robin!
Welcome home.?
Get some well deserved rest. Lillyjo and I were thinking of you earlier this week.
SotD: Avon Timeless. I have many back ups of Timeless, including a version called “Ultra Purse Concentre” which makes me smile (it seems to be oil-based, in a 1/3oz roller ball shaped like the usual Timeless bottle). I think my newest Timeless bottle is from 2014; they all smell wonderful to me. Hmm, other back ups included Avon’s Imperial Garden (really a favorite), Estee Super, Tuscany per Donna, Cinnabar, White Linen, Beyond Paradise, Intuition, Sensuous Noir, Samsara, Shalimar, L’Heure Bleue, Mahora, Black Perfecto, Insolence, Champs Elysees, Covet, Stash, Dune, Poison, Fils de Joie, Natori (in the cool window bottle), Safari, Silences, Tocade, Tocadilly, White Shoulders (vintage), Kenzo Flower and Zen. What a fun CP!
Wow!!! Timeless!! Tuscany per Donna! White Linen!! White Shoulders! Safari!!! Dune!! Cinnabar!!! You’ve got some amazing back ups!
*Blush* thank you chocolatemarzipan. I hope everyone here gives Timeless a whirl around the perfume dance floor. Avon did some great things. Tuscany per Donna was one of my great quests. After a second thought purchase (saw it; did not know what it was; came back a few days later and it was still at the antique mall booth…), I sprayed, swooned and stalked deals on Ebay for many moons till I got that stash. Said it before and will say it again: EL fangirl here.
Ddddaaaaannnnnggggg! What a haul of backups!
And belated congrats on your retirement! ✨??
Thank you, Jalapeno! Hope you have a restful weekend!!!
Alas, Mount Laundry is waiting for me to scale it. ??
In original formula of Note Vanillee today.
I believe I only have 3 BUBs:
1. 31 RC EDT – probably will part w/ this one b/c I simply have way too much perfume; my linen closet has no room for clean sheets and towels, for example, b/c perfume 😉
2. Tempo – found a great deal on Ebay right after it launched and figured they would butcher and reformulate it eventually
3. Note Vanillee – have the original formula in the old bottle and bought a 2nd on Ebay as it has definitely been reformulated…we all know changing the bottle is the kiss of death…?☠️??
Yes, Tempo was a stand-out new release, so you were smart, say I. I have two samples, and have made do with that.
Tempo was love at first sniff for me!
Since recently most of my days start with back-to-back meetings that go long into the time most of the activity subsides here on NST, I didn’t get a chance to participate in the daily threads, but I was participating in several CPs after reading about it on Instagram in hajusuuri’s posts. That’s how I learned about this week’s project as well and decided to make it to here 🙂
Sitting at the hairdresser’s (had to do it as a lunch break because my roots won’t look decent for one more week when she works on Saturday) and enjoying Rose d’Amour from Les Parfums de Rosine: I think, not counting my formerly signature perfume that I stock up to last until… forever, this one was the first perfume I bought a backup bottle for. I like many perfumes from the brand, but I don’t have FB for any other. This one touched something for me, so I feel much more confident knowing that I have an extra bottle of it.
Happy Friday to everyone!
Rose d’Amour is a great choice for a BUB, though! I have one bottle, it’s lovely.
It pleases me that we share this perfume love.
Happy Friday to you, Undina!
I’ve been meaning to tell you how much I enjoy your blog posts.
I’m assuming you have several backups of Ta’if ?
Thank you! I really appreciate you saying this.
I don’t have BUs of Ta’if per se, but I have a couple of travel sprays of EdP, a FB of EdP, parfum and the Extreme version. But now you got me thinking… 😉
Rose d’Amour is my only Rosine as well. Happy memories as I bought the first bottle sold when it was released at their Palais Royal shop, from the hand of the perfumer Marie-Hélène Rogeon, who walked the box over from her office (it wasn’t even on display yet).
What an incredible fragrance souvenir!
Wow! THAT is the memorable perfume-related story!
Wow, that’s amazing! My family had planned to go to Paris last summer, for several milestone events, and I was eager to visit the Palais-Royal shops including Rosine, but alas! we had to cancel the trip. Some day …
I have no backup bottles. I have and will repurchase some things once they are on the verge of being finished.
My SOTD is La Fin d’un Été (Pierre Boudon). If I could buy a backup of this, I would. Alas, it’s been discontinued.
I’m in awe of people who can finish a bottle of perfume. I haven’t done that since maybe the early 2000’s.
Seconding that! Clearly I have too many bottles, since perfumes in my world are much more at risk of turning than getting emptied. I did once drop a bottle of Lys Mediterranee on the bathroom floor and “used it up” that way…
I realize I’m replying to this many days after the fact, but the only way I’ve been able to finish bottles is by making and sharing decants. I’ve finished very few, but they’re always those that I’ve sent decants from or ones I’ve bought from eBay or swapped for as partial bottles.
No FOMO for you then. I have drained some bottles but that was way back when I had a much smaller collection. I did drain a 100mL Chanel No.19 EDP; I’m thinking I may drain the current one by end of next year.
I’m amazed how you manage to finish that perfume with everything else that you wear!
See! That’s why we’re getting BUBs! 🙂
I have backups of No 19 and Coco. I also have a habit of accumulating concentrations!
SOTD is Nuit de Bakelite
Such an amazing fragrance – you smell wonderful!
It is really something else, the most interesting twist on tuberose. Thank you 🙂
No.19 BUB twins. I also have a “situation” with various formulations.
As you say – it is sooo good! And when I hear things like „Chanel hardly ever sell any“ or see that the Parfum concentration has been temporarily out of stock, I panic.
OK… Now you got me panicking as well… What do you mean out of stock?! 🙂
Don’t worry – it’s back! Last summer I wanted to get a new bottle of the perfume concentration which I couldn’t find on the German website (where I live). So I sent a message to their customer service. They said „Our client‘s tastes change all the time and we‘ve decided to discontinue, but you can get it as edp etc.“ ? I could see it was still available via their french site though. Anyhow, life happened and forgot about it for a while. Then a few weeks ago I saw a someone selling an older bottle of 19 parfum and to get a feeling for prices I went back to the chanel site to check how much their Parfum concentrations are going for. And there it was – shiny in all its chanel glory on the website No19 parfum. It’s already on my birthday wishlist!
I don’t have a BUB as such, but I once bought two partially full bottles of 24Fauberg by Hermes on ebay, at the same time. Have thunked one of them.
So hot here in Oregon. SOTD is 4711 Remix Spray, 2018 edition. It is orange-y and cooling.
That sounds right for the weather!
We have cooled down to the 60s tonight…have the windows open for the first time in a couple weeks.
The only BUBs I have are Bvlgari Black and Mandragore, both discontinued. I’m surprised they kept Mandragore Pourpre – I love it but would’ve thought the original was more popular. I’ve got enough of both to keep me going! Goutal is available in Toronto but the line is pared down. The only other thing I would like to get my hands on is a bottle of Cristalle EDT. It’s very sad they’ve discontinued it.
I also have Bvlgari Black BUBs!
I would have also thought the original Mandragore would have been the bigger seller, but I guess we were wrong!
I thought I didn’t have any backups, but then I remembered that I initially bought Bond no. 9 Bryant Park in the travel spray size, which looks to be 10mls (and came in a cute cardboard tube). Then, after spending some time with it and realizing I loved it, I sprang for a full bottle when I saw it on the sale shelf at the same perfume store where I’d bought the travel spray. And, I haven’t finished either one yet, since it takes me forever to make a dent in anything! This was also before their prices went way up.
My only BUBs are two bottles of my beloved Ivoire… and that’s only because someone was selling a group of three bottles on ebay: 100ml, 50ml, and 30 ml. I’ll use them up eventually, but I have so much else to get through, too LOL
I’m thinking of getting a BUB of PG Drama Nuui. I’m almost done with my 50ml, and I don’t see it online much anymore. Such a beautiful jasmine.
