It's Almost-Friday and Midsummer’s Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm taking (ironic?) points for going slightly out of my comfort zone, in Salvatore Ferragamo Emozione. (Then I am giving up a point for being so late today — apologies! Had to take care of a few unexpected family matters.)
Reminder: on 6/25, we're marking Anthony Bourdain's birthday. Wear a fragrance that you think of as adventurous, or interpret this project in any way you like.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning.
Hope everything is good and well Robin!
I am wearing Lush’s Furze today. Smelling coconutty and delicious.
Pyramus, to answer your question from yesterday, I think the newer Spellbound still smells quite good! I think EL is good at reformulations so you can go hunt for a new bottle 🙂
Next time I’m in the vicinity of a fragrance counter, which won’t be for a while, I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip!
You do smell fantastic!!
Everything fine, thanks, just time consuming 🙂
Beautiful image!
SOTD: VC&A Bois d’Amande – once this settles down it is quite nice
Toasted bagel this morn. with strong coffee. Think I’ll do butter with cinnamon sugar. Comfort food 😉
Isn’t that pretty?
The colors work so well.
All that talk about licorice and anise yesterday drove me to douse myself this morning with Demeter Licorice, a ridiculously accurate rendition of those licorice pipes and cigars (which are still being made!). It dries down, quickly, because it is Demeter, to a soft, very slightly bitter vanilla. It’s just great.
That sounds nice! Every now and then I go all in and wear Black Vines, which I love, but it provokes a subtle, verge-of-panic feeling in me, like I’m about to be drowned in licorice, and I worry that it might have that effect on smellers-by.
Smellers-by. I like your created word!
2nd!
I do love a good licorice candy.
I think the only perfume with this note I’ve found that works for me is Hermes Brin de Reglisse. Too bad it is so fleeting.
Sounds delicious! I wish Demeter fragrances were easier to find here.
Good morning, all! I’m in a fragrance that by all rights I shouldn’t like — it’s clean and fresh, it’s linear, it’s fruity; nothing about that sounds good to me. It’s Philosophy Falling in Love, which is lighter and less interesting now than it was when I first discovered it circa 2006 but still pleasant on days when I want something light and uncomplicated that isn’t Malibu Lemon Blossom.
Ohhh Falling in Love was one of my christmas gifts circa 2003. I really, really liked it then. Smelled like a purple berry (maybe mulberry), vanilla and floral to me. I’m wondering how much reformulated it got ever since? It would not need to be any lighter than it was – that fruity, floral sweetness was just perfect that it had back in ’03.
The blackberry note in the original was, to me, *exactly* the scent of a pail of Himalayan blackberries, still warm from having grown and been picked in the sun. Now it smells much more watered down and has lost some of the musky depth that made it so photorealistically delicious, and it smells a bit ‘greener’ than it used to. The drydown still hits the right notes for me.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Falling in Love, that sweet blackberry musk. L’Occitane used to make one too. The definition of easygoing comfort scent.
That’s what it was: sweet blackberry and musk. you just nailed it!!
Sometimes light and uncomplicated checks all the right boxes for me.
Wore Coco Mademoiselle Intense earlier but commando right now. I am debating on if I should wear Havana Vanille today or save it for tomorrow. My other choice is Les Annees BIS.
Wow I didn’t know there was an intense version of Coco Mademoiselle. Regular Coco Mademoiselle leaves a nice trail behind the wearer already so wondering what the intense is like? Wow.
Wow! You have some amazing choices!
I’m wearing a new Smell Bent. This is a limited edition that is already off the website. Sunshine Mama’s Spiced Tea was part of a decant collection called Spring Haze. It was the first one I tried, and I really liked it. When the Smell Bent garage sale happened earlier this month, I bought a full bottle of this, and another scent (unsniffed).
Spiced Tea sounds nice!
SOTM is Pineward Binderbole. Strongest contender yet for my platonic ideal of a forest scent. Woody, moist earth, dew, and brisk almost-but-not-quite-minty pine. If the pine were a mellower-but-still-fresh cypress or juniper, I could end the hunt for my Forest&Juniper scent today. But the search continues.
Ah, but the strongest contender yet is still impressive!
I tried the sample set, and this was definitely my favorite!
What an awesome perfume name!
Good morning everyone!! (It is still morning here in FL). We are having a thunderstorm and lots of tropical rain right now and I am lovin’ it!!
Ylang Ylang Artemisia Orange Blossom Tuberose Gardenia Jasmine Marigold Musk
Above is the very recipe for my own very happiness!!
All these days I haven’t posted my SOTD is because it had been Tuberoza over and over. Almost every day I find an “excuse” to wear it. Today it is because it is raining and I love rain so I decided to celebrate that with my Holy Grail of a perfume. Despite using it so much my bottle is still about 95% full and there will be back up bottles coming soon – that is how much I love it.
I know I have been raving about Tuberoza too much on here but it smells like the most delicious orange-y hard candy with a fleshy, intoxicating tuberose and a splash of banana shake… All that beautiful sweetness all while staying so refreshing… Tres a miracle!!
I have been looking at Nasomatto’s Narcotic Venus according to what luckyscent figured I would like based on my purchase of Tuberoza. Not that I need any other floral perfume but I was just being curious and read reviews on Narcotic V… Everything nice and dandy but so many people said it smells too similar to Michael Kors… MK smells very simple and linear. Boring to me. Michael Kors went for the safest, simpliest option available.
I would be so happy to hear if anyone has any thoughts on Narcotic V? Is it this heady, all lights on, narcotic floral or just a boring, watered down jasmine/gardenia type fragrance?
Also maybe anyone could answer about Ex Nihilo’s Sweet Morphine. Can You smell any actual lilac in it? Is it very floral or is it a bit of a gourmand due to bourbon vanilla in the dry down?
And last one is about Amouage’s Lilac Love. Luckyscent has a disclaimer it is not a lilac perfume. But a lilac colored cardigan or silk or blah blah (?!!) So is it a lilac perfume or not?
Anyone’s help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!
I have Lilac Love and it doesn’t smell like lilac to me. It is a lovely powdery floral on me, sadly lasting power was not as long as I would like.
I also did not spot any lilacs in Lilac Love. Tried Sweet Morphine ages ago but as it didn’t result to a full bottle, I think it didn’t have enough lilacs for me either. I think Vilhelm has/had a good one (A Lilac a Day?)
And for some reason I don’t really feel like smelling any bourbon vanilla in my floral.
Ok so then Lilac Love is out of my sample wishlist. Thanks!!
No, but for real though, you like tuberose? 😀
No but seriously I like tuberose as well, but it’s Fracas for me.
Forreal I love tuberose 🙂 and yes I heard a lot about Fracas too.
I had a sample once of Narcotic V. It was fine, but didn’t wow me. Sometimes I think the names can set you up for disappointment.
That is what I thought could be the case here… Such a BIG name. Such a moving name. Should be an explosion of sweet florals…
My Tuberose Favorite is D.S. & Durga Durga, which is all tuberrose, all the time, for a long time, and I love it. More friendly smelling that Fracas, which I wore off and on for years. You can get samples of this from LuckyScent if you haven’t tried it…
No I haven’t and I really like the house of D.S & Durga. And I heard about this one but forgot about trying a sample of it!! Thank You!!
I second Durga! I wish I’d bought a bottle when FragranceNet had it for $75 (if I remember correctly that was the price, and it’s normally $350!). I still have a good amount in a decant though.
I did smell some lilac, although I am willing to say I was suggestible due to the bottle colour/name. Thought it was pretty but not nearly worth the price, the latter which I always think about Amouage, but not the former.
Yes the name can be suggestible. I was just in Miami not that long ago and smelled a beautiful lilac bush which reminded me of my childhood when we had very old lilac trees infront of our window that where planted by my great grandfather. He transplanted lil’ benches from the big family house where these lilacs grew very, very long time ago. I was just getting into childhood memories:)
I’ve tried Nasomatto’s Nuda, and while it is a lovely jasmine, it is not the Uber-Jasmine of my dreams. Narcotic V is supposed to be along the same lines, but I have not personally tried it.
I have noticed that my Michael Kors EdP gets better smelling the older it gets.
Sotd is Vouloir être ailleurs which matches the blooming Linden trees outside my office. When it warms up, the scent hangs in the air and I can’t get enough of it.
You smell wonderful!
🙂
How wonderful you have linden trees outside your office! I’ve been so happy to encounter them on my walks this last week. There’s a super fragrant group of them in my neighborhood, and I also came upon a bunch in Eastlake last weekend.
Morning everyone! My SOTD is another classic 1970’s chypre, Vivara Parfum, by Emilio Pucci. Thanks Pyramus, for sending me down a chypre rabbit hole!
Vivara is a green chypre, along the lines of Estee Lauder’s Aliage and Givenchy III. Compared to Scherrer (1979), it’s less of a powerhouse. I’d say Scherrer ‘light’.
It has a peach note that softens the greens and galbanum which adds that familiar astringent note that I adore. 🙂
Everyone have a lovely day today!
Such a shame you can’t buy it in the modern Vivara bottle — I wanted one of those so bad!
It was a great bottle!
I love my Chypres and wear Scherrer EdT today!
Thanks to everyone for all the concern yesterday. I was fine and unharmed in the storm. It has indeed cooled down the temperatures to more standard levels of Polish summer.
Today I’m wearing Moonlight in Chiangmai from Dusita. Very adventurous indeed.
Glad to hear you’re okay! 🙂
Are there a lot of smokers in Chiangmai? I kept thinking of cigarettes when I sniffed a sample of this…
Good to hear that you were unscathed by the wild weather yesterday.
Trying Fleur de Patchouli a blind buy from the line Jo Malone did for Zara.
It is lovely…flowers, woods and lots of patchouli.
Ohhh, lots of patchouli is a good thing!
That sounds good!
Uh oh, potential lemming alert!
hi fragrant friends. I am going to to dinner w/ a friend tonight. the first time eating out in CA since last February?
Wearing OJ Rose Ta’if.
I bought myself a long kimono at Anthro last month with a birthday coupon and will wear this evening as it’s always coolish along Redondo Beach.
Oh, fun! Enjoy your time!
Have a great time!
I hope you’ll have a lovely evening❤️ You smell wonderful.
thank you!
enjoy your dinner out!
Enjoy your dining out!
I’m going coocoo for Coco today in vintage edp and the body cream.
You smell fabulous!
Awesome! I really need to break down and get that body cream.
It is prime half Christmas. You can pretend you’re buying with after Christmas sale and $s! You’re welcome ?
Lol!, I already have enough to confess next month..
Wow, fabulous! You smell amazing. 🙂
Coco was a perfume I did a 180 on. Did not care for it when it came out, but it’s wonderful now.
Good morning all! I’m in Armani Iris Celadon from a sample that has a weird dispenser top, which is why I’ve had it awhile. Beautiful fragrance, iris and patchouli with a little musk. I thunked a decant yesterday and will plink this sample next time I wear it.
Doing laundry and cleaning up the house in preparation for heading down south to help clean out dad’s garage and upstairs hobby room. Only one more weekend of work after this; I’ll be oh so pleased when the job is done. ?
That’s a tough job, I’m hoping to escape it since the plan is for my brother to inherit the house (and this the mess). Bon courage to you! On the home stretch.
That sounds like a fair trade off, cazaubon! Thanks for the encouragement.
Iris Celadon is gorgeous.
It’s pricey, but very pretty. ?
Cleaning out the house is a tough job, go easy on yourself. And you’re in the home stretch!
Thanks, SmokeyToes, we take breaks every so often with the heat.
Good luck with the clear out. I am not moving much at all and really need to get cracking.
Be gentle with yourself, if you don’t mind me saying that. It takes time to get in the frame of mind to tackle that project, and it’s an emotional one as well as physical. ?
I don’t mind at all!
That’s a long and hard job. Big hugs to you.
Yep, 51 years of memories in that house. Thanks, sistine.
Good luck with the great house clear out. It always takes more time and effort than is initially expected. Hugs.
Oh, that’s for sure! I need to turn around and do the same thing with our house when we get done. Thanks, Jalapeno.
THURSDAY!
1) SOTD: combo of Molinard Jasmin and LM Ambre Vanilla. Cool cloud cover this AM which feels like a relief; already though it is burning off.
2) It always amazes me- and it shouldn’t- how so many frescoes survived with such haunting, delicate beauty. One of these days I will be brave and get the downstairs done in one of those massive mural wallpapers!
3) So, back countertops are on and the island is built. The back countertops are lovelier than I thought it would be. The pale blonde color did not stay- I began treating them with the countertop oil and the color warmed and deepened. And the countertops just DRANK UP the countertop oil- I have to go get more; instructions are for 3 initial coats. Am going to get regular drugstore mineral oil (what you use for constipation in babies) because it’s cheaper, although viscosity MAY be heavier.
It makes me wonder if the frescoes were as lovely when they were new, or if they were too garish.
Countertops are on, yay!! And they look great.
Indeed- we are looking at these frescoes thousands of years later, with oxidation of time and pollution!
In art classes in college we recreated some of those pigments and they were really rich! Even so, the technique that was used at the time was really painstaking and precise!
? I would be reluctant to use the mineral oil for babies …
Caribbean mom lore: mineral oil for rubbing down babies and a few drops to ease constipation, fish oil emulsion, cornstarch powder for bottoms and A&D ointment. Then a misting of 4711 or Florida water to top it off!
I have that Molinard Jasmin and love it. I bet you smell great in your combo!
Glad to hear your countertops are such a success!
Isn’t it just a lovely, well crafted perfume? I love the hints of rose and green that keep it from being overwhelming!
I am so happy with the countertops and don’t feel these were a compromise at ALL.
I was craving for something super-cheery this morning and sprayed on some MPG Fleur des Comores. I didn’t remember it was so beautiful berry-fruit-jasmine-ylang-custard rollercoaster.
I think I’ll need something like this for tomorrow, need to figure out a story to fit into community project, though. Not particularly adventurous?
Wonderful!
I do really love that one. I must get my bottle out and wear soon. For some odd reason I find it has a salty note. Am I crazy?
I think you are absolutely right, there definitely is a salty whiff.
Thunked my decant of Fico di Amalfi today and then splashed on some Scherrer EdT. Spent the day at home watching our annual medical congress online and knitting a bit.
You smell amazing!
I went to my first in studio yoga class since March 2020 this morning. I can’t believe how ridiculously happy it made me to be back in that setting. Definitely feeling a vinyasa class after a pandemic of inactivity (especially in my shoulders).
I wore a drop of Act & Acre’s Rebalancing Scent to yoga. Post shower, it’s Dzongkha.
That is so awesome!?
High five!! So glad it felt good. You smell great too.
Congrats! ?✨?
Quick question: How do you protect your fragrance collection from summer heat? AC? Fridge? Basement? Not too worried as long as there’s no light exposure? Thank you!
Curious about this as well. I keep BUBs in the basement fridge until I need them, but I don’t have a well thought out approach for bottles in rotation. They are in the dark, in a bedroom with AC, but Mr. Vee and I tend to keep the house warmer than most ppl with AC do to conserve energy (for envtl reasons, not bc we are cheap, I swear ?). I need to do better and am all ears for ideas.
That’s the case with us too – we have AC but don’t use it a lot for envtl reasons. I haven’t worried as much in the past about the perfume overheating but Seattle is looking at such unusually high temps in the next few days and probably beyond that I started to be more concerned.
I keep my current bottles in a closed cabinet (we’re lucky enough to have AC), and I keep all the rest in a back-up fridge in the basement. I kinda freaked out a while ago when I discovered that my vintages were starting to turn and went the fridge route.
I just throw a scarf over the whole collection, and keep the curtain closest to it closed during hot days.
Light is much worse than heat, but a cool dark closet or basement is best.
The tradeoffs of keeping bottles close at hand v. stored!
I keep my bottles away from light. Some of them live in my walk-in closet, but the majority of them are stashed in document boxes with lids. And I’ve kept almost all of the boxes that the perfumes came in.
Since Mr. Jalapeno runs warm, we have the A/C going a fair amount of the time for his comfort. The perfumes getting it is an unexpected bonus.
I’m in Clean Reserve Skin again for a sample thunk.
Got some disappointing news yesterday. The concert tickets that I got for my college daughter for christmas 2019 and was supposed to happen May 2020…and got postponed to October 2021, has now been cancelled entirely.☹️ I realize in the scheme of life this is a total first world problem. But disappointing nonetheless. Meanwhile, ticketmaster has had my money for over a year and a half!?
Big bummer! United Air Lines has had $600 of my money for the past 18 months so I hear you.
United is the worst! I’m stuck with them bc I live right near a hub, but sometimes (often) I feel like they have contempt for their customers
Airlines seem to be the biggest offenders on refunds, or the lack thereof.
Ugh! Will you get a refund or credit?
I have a credit that must be used by April 2022… no idea what I will do with it as right now is not a good time financially for a vacation and the ticket is only a part of the big expense, so to use it I need to spend more money (hotels, food, etc.).
I had a similar thing happen with an outdoor beer festival that Mr. Vee and I go to every year in Vermont. It was postponed from last August to this coming August, but last week it was cancelled altogether. I’m mostly disappointed bc it was going to be our first vacation since COVID started and I had built it up in my mind as the point at which we would start to resume “normal” activities. Without it as an anchor in the calendar, I feel aimless as to when we are going to kickoff “normalcy.”
Yeah, I totally get that. What’s frustrating is that the tour is still happening, some venues got cancelled and others got added. For instance, here in the Midwest, Milwaukee and Minneapolis got cancelled and Chicago got added. I just don’t get it.? Lots of disgruntled fans complaining on Instagram.
Yeah, I feel you.. Southwest has over 2500 of my cancelled non refundable airfare dollars. Jerks.
OMG! Will you get a refund?! Supposedly I will get a refund from Ticketmaster.
That’s a total drag about your concert getting canceled. Hopefully you and your daughter will be able to see Tame Impala at a later date.
Thanks Jalapeño. Yes, Tame Impala! (You have a good memory!) That’s what we’re hoping, that he adds more dates next spring or summer.?
It’s cool for June, just 20C and after a sunny morning it’s cloudy, but no matter. Robin, The antique fresco you chose is so timeless.
I spent the day in AdP acqua nobile Gelsomino light but persistent and this evening I sprayed Un Jardin sir le Nil, with its lovely incense and fruit.
That’s typical summer temperatures for Yellowstone National Park here in the US.
I had no idea, thank you, great info.
You smell fabulous! I love Gelsomino for that very reason – light with persistence.
Thank you, glad you’re a fan too, a very pretty scent for sure.
I’m being adventurous (for me) in vintage PdN Vie de Chateau. This one is so manly, or should I say, gentlemanly, but I love it! It’s labeled an “eau fraîcheur,” and doesn’t last, but wow it’s all hay and leather while it’s there! I feel very naughty wearing it, as if I’ve stolen Mr. Darcy’s best saddle.
Mr. Darcy’s best saddle! LOL! But, now I want to smell this…
?
I don’t find it that manly, and it lasts pretty much all day on me. I have the Eau Fraîche as well, it reminds me of a castle in Normandy, and from now on of Mr Darcy ?
? A castle in Normandy, that’s nice. Now I’ll think of that. ?
Hay and leather sounds nice!
It’s a warm and cozy leather because of the hay. I hadn’t worn it in a long time and got more of the hay note than I remembered.
This is my new favorite perfume comment lol!
☺️
You smell great AnnE!
SOTD = Mon Precieux Nectar – classic house, girlie girlie pretty, one of the sweetest fragrances I own, wearing today in an attempt to sweeten up my slightly sour mood. But, we got the old bed given away, so things are looking up. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to ignore how dirty your floors are when there is all sorts of stuff on them? Now I have moved the stuff, and I see some deep cleaning in my near future…
LOL on the dirty floors. Every time I have to move something I am shocked by the dust and hair bunnies. :-0
You smell fabulous!
🙂
Bois d’Armenie today, it takes a lot of effort to spray from the stupid bulb atomiser. It’s very difficult to get any into a travel spray too. Still, it’s a lovely perfume and worth some bother 🙂
you smell great!
You smell awesome. So glad I managed to get BdA in the regular sprayer bottle, that bulb sprayer phase was unfortunate, so awkward!
Mediterraneo today, I love the sprayer on this one. It dispenses a lovely fine mist. The great zucchini harvest starts tomorrow. So many on the plant!
And you really only need one plant!
Time to make some zucchini bread, maybe? ??
Started the day in O de Lancome, but I’ve since topped up with Love’s Fresh Lemon. Lots of citrus needed to combat the heat today.
My hubby went golfing so I have the house to myself, at least for now! Wish it was a bit cooler, so I could blast myself with Aromatics Elixir.
O de Lancome is a great summer scent!
Thanks Jalapeno! It really is.
Wearing yet another Goutal, In matin d’orage. It is pretty and suits the showers I saw today. Feeling quite excited as I am currently spending a few days in France. Measures have relaxed and as I have been fully vaccinated for over two weeks I can travel. It’s a homecoming of sorts, before Covid I visited four to five times a year. Staying in the beautiful town of Colmar which is Strasbourg’s pretty little sister and loving it.
Wonderful, enjoy your stay.
Thank you, I will.
Oh, how wonderful!! Enjoy and give my love to France! Miss it so much.
I will kiss some buildings for you!
Lucky you! Have a great time.
Prada Infusion de Tubereuse. New decant, not particularly inspired by it.
Not my favorite either.
Happy Thursday, perfume people! I’m sporting Kalemat left over from last night. Spritzed before bed because it’s so cozy and it’s quite cool where I’m at. Hajusuuri sent me a decant light years ago and I loved it so much, I bought a full bottle. Thanks, H!
T-Rex and I ran into the Partridge Family this morning on a hike. I was so excited to spot them in the wild! ?

Too cute, good to see you here.
Hello Deva! Good to see/hear from you.
Hi Deva, nice to hear from you!
Ha! I wasn’t expecting a song too! Awesome.
Nice to see you Deva! They are so cute.
We do see quail in our yard from time to time; they seem to be on the lookout for a fresh, ripe strawberry or something equally appetizing!
Hi Deva! Good to see you! ??
*waves at Deva* So nice to see you!
has anyone sprung for/ tested Hiram Green Vetiver yet?
Oooh. My first thought was to put a dot here to show I’m “watching”.
Ooh, I’m interested. *ears perk up*
Robin, I hope that your family matters were quickly and easily resolved.
Another perfect early summer day, weather-wise for me. One of the cats is still hanging out in the bay window, despite the sunbeams having moved on. And it was a boring day, which felt absolutely great!
SOTD = Olivier Durbano Rock Crystal EdP. Incense is a 4-season note for me.
Boring day is good!
Are all types of incense year round appropriate for you?
I find that for me, drier incense works better in warm/hot weather, and the sweeter, amber-ish kinds are more for cool/cold weather. But I have worn and enjoyed LAdDM in the height of summer.
Thumbs up on the everyday appeal of incense! You smell great.
Thanks cazaubon!
Yay for boring!
Yes, yes OMG yes!
You’re definitely due some good, old-fashioned boring!
Thanks! Hope you have some tranquility in your future, too.
So glad you (and the cat) had a great day!
Thanks! Both cats had a good one. ?? But for whatever reason, one of the cats wasn’t quite into feline-level sunbathing today.
You definitely deserve a quiet day!
Thank you! I certainly did appreciate it, and will happily take another one if it comes my way.
Done and dusted, thank you!
And yes, today was like a bonus nice day since I thought it would get hot 🙂
I will be in 1957 later, as I’m being cautious on scent while staying with my friend. I’m going out to dinner with another friend, so will spray generously as I head out.
Was downtown with my sister yesterday, whom I hadn’t seen for almost 3 years. Can you believe we go that long?? We text all the time. The Saks SA alluded to the Chanel No. 5 celebration coming up…making it sound exclusive to Saks. (Maybe they’re doing some exclusive combos.) We didn’t do much sniffing, but each bought some shoes at the big Macy’s. That was fun. Lunch at Cheesecake Factory and a spin through Sephora, where I determined the Rose Blush in the Jo Malone marmalade line is pretty. If I hadn’t bought the shoes, there was a lovely Dior lippy that I was coveting….
Yay for seeing your sister!
So glad you got quality time with your sister, that all sounds lovely!
SOTD = BDK Parfums Gris Charnel
Still FB-worthy but since it was offered in the SplitMeet, I got in on it.

People, we have TROUBLE with a capital T and really, the entire word. Last night, our most senior management sent a note out to all U.S.-based employees telling us mandates related to the vaccine (reporting it and consequences of not doing it), possibly eventually requiring it and expectations related to returning to the office. I don’t stand on a moral high ground so I did not join in the fray. But OMG, the venom spewed by employees publicly (via comments online), people reporting inappropriate comments (I did not see any that were inappropriate), reciting chapter and verse of prior communications AND letter of the law, etc. etc. Most were along the lines of the choice to report medical data and/or to vaccinate is NOT for the employer (not in healthcare, just to clear things up) to decide. MY disappointment, and I have seen many many communications, is the “Big Brother” tone of that email — I have NEVER ever read anything more crass and tone-deaf. Some of us were speculating whose communication style that was and we have a good idea. Let’s just say communication of this nature would have gone through massive iterations and to end like this sounded like someone saying ENOUGH, get it out NOW. I’m sure the legal department went through it but still, not good. Time will tell if the messaging will change.
Coincidentally, even prior to the aforementioned email, I proposed my 2 days in the office schedule and it was approved (more than enough so I may be able to modify that slightly at times).
Sounds like back to the office is going to be a giant pain in the you know where…
Not for me, after all is said and done. My manager asked me if I wanted to work in Jersey City and I said No, No, No. On a good day, the PATH is germy, oh don’t make me shudder ….
I’m glad your schedule was approved. I didn’t understand the other part.. is it saying you have to report medical information?
Yes, “voluntarily”. If one does not enter their info, your manager will hound you. When did this become acceptable?
Oh gosh… I would think that would then fall under “hostile work environment ” harassment.
Hoo boy… I bet some uncomfortable meetings are going on in HR and legal. That kind of message needs to be vetted so carefully, with a delicate sense of tone. Clearly that wasn’t done. :-0
Personally I agree that employers should not be allowed to demand vaccination and disclosure of personal medical information (isn’t that a violation of HIPAA?).
I would say the legal department probably vetted the whole legal issue and got the green light but legal does not mean it’s right by the people.
I claim full points for being on-project by choosing to wear Zoologist Bat this morning–the original fragrance. Highly adventurous, odd notes of bat caves and slightly rotten fruit, and let’s hope, NOT of items that end up on the dining table! I haven’t worn this for ages, but am noticing now after hours of dry-down how beautiful some of the notes are. There’s an underneath smell of perhaps overly sweet pears and/or passionfruit, together with a top note smell of a delicious buttery crust. Must be the combination of sandalwood and tonka bean. This is definitely a gourmand perfume, and one I think Bourdain might have enjoyed sniffing, if not wearing.
That deserves bonus points!
Breaking news! I just received a 5ml decant of Vanilla Woods from 7 Virtues of Afghanistan via STC. It came very well packaged, the little bottle wrapped in parafilm, inside a foam baggie inside a cute little box! The scent itself is successful, your basic creamy vanilla which is just what I was hoping for as those are hard to come by these days (Eau de Missions, how I still long for thee!) Adoreable hubby pronounced it lust inspiring. 🙂 Happy times…
Would you say that the 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods is consolation for no more Eau de Missions?
After several hours of comforting vanilla, I am pleased as punch with this perfume. Have to do a full day wearing to see how it gets on , but this is a fine example and well worth a sniff. This is the first 7Virtues scents I have experienced, but I intend to look for some of the others of this line.
Paging She-ra…..sounds yummy!
Page received! 😉 That one is on my radar but haven’t tried it yet…sounds very promising!
Busy day today, so chiming in a bit late. I spent midsummer’s day in Eau d’Hadrien.
Ack! I completely spaced that today was Midsummer’s Day.
I don’t even know what this is!
You smell lovely! I’m very excited to have small old style bottles of Eau d’Hadrien and Eau du Sud on route. I have always loved both of these fragrances and can’t wait to join you in enjoying them this summer.
After much thought, and rifling through my box of samples, I settled on Pandora, from St. Clair Scents. It doesn’t get much more adventurous than Pandora of myth and legend, opening the forbidden box, OMG, this is so beautiful! Must admit that I sometimes giggle when perfume writers say they “swooned”, or their eyes “ rolled back in their heads”, when they smelled a particular fragrance. Well, that’s what I’m doing with Pandora.
You smell great! St. Clair Scents are otherworldly. I have Casablanca but am tempted by Pandora and Eve. She’s such a talent.
She really is! I love Gardener’s Glove and First Cut, too.
