It's Hump Day and Bloomsday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Burberry's The Beat Intense Elixir, a perfectly decent fragrance that I would never have bought if it was in a plain glass bottle.
Reminder: on 6/18, we're doing edition 3 of Bottle Porn Friday, by request. Wear something you bought in part or in full because of the bottle, or a fragrance you think has a beautiful (or otherwise perfect) bottle. (suggested by michael and happy888cat, this is a repeat of a project we did in 2015 and 2017.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Givenchy Very Irresistible for Men, which sort of qualifies as bottle porn and definitely qualifies as an overlooked and then discontinued scent — not Theorema levels of oh-how-could-they-cancel-this-masterpiece, but close. Bright green on top, fresh without being aquatic (ugh), and then lots of milky coffee and warm wood. It’s quietly amazing.
Long time ago I was gifted a bottle of Givenchy Pi Fraiche (my parent’s friend didn’t realize it was for men) and I… Loved it!! Loved the bottle and loved the pine-y, soapy fragrance. Wish I had a bottle now.
Love stories like this!
Oohh that sounds good.
I wondered if I had imagined that perfume. I do recall seeing the bottles. Then POOF! it was gone.
I’m in Eau de Cartier Vetiver Bleu.
Vetiver Bleu just seems like an oxymoron to me. Somehow Blue Grass didn’t!
I’m wondering if anyone can confirm if Euphorisme D’Opium from DSH can be compared to Opium EDT from the early nineties. I’m thinking of getting a 3 ml bottle.
I’ve been wondering the same thing! I hope someone here has tried it.
Oh, the Tacoma Museum of Glass is so lovely! I got to visit it many years ago. Dave Chihuly’s work is really something else. I love his ceiling in the lobby of the Bellagio in Vegas. Thanks for the reminder, Robin!
SOTD Angela Ciampagna Rosarium – the bigger bottle of which has a lovely decorative top, although I just have the plain smaller one.
Also, there is an entire Chilhuly museum and garden next to the Space Needle in Seattle that is astonishing!
You are so right–I’ve been there and it’s wonderful!
My doctor’s office (which I have sadly had too many opportunities to visit over the past few years, despite being a generally healthy and young-ish person) has a spectacular two-story Chihuly going through its atrium. It is a joy to look at it, and does its level best to calm me down during stressful times!
Farallon Restaurant in SF had Chihuly jellyfish chandeliers in the bar as part of their decor.
There will be another Dave Chihuly image Friday. I should have done glass all week for the cp but didn’t think of it until last night.
I’m in Eau des Merveilles today, which I think has an absolutely perfect bottle. Those tiny stars!!!
To be honest, it smells so good that I wouldn’t care if it was in an empty Dirt Coke bottle.
Dirt Coke? Sounds yucky. I meant Diet Coke.
I thought there was a new iteration of Coke ?
?
Well,, after all, what can they do to follow up Coffee Coke?
Wait — there’s Coffee Coke??
I’ve seen it at the grocery store next to the Monster energy drinks. It’s supposed to be higher caffeine than the usual.
I love that bottle!
I do love the design of the stars, but admit I am just not fond of that weird shape.
I wish it came with a stand so that I could store it vertically. It takes up twice the real estate as other bottles. I have the same complaint about certain CdG bottles. Maybe it is a marketing ploy to keep them in the front row of our shelves.
Honestly, I’d try Dirt Coke before I’d drink Diet Coke.
Diet soft drinks and I do not get along at all. ?
That’s what I have lined up for tomorrow 🙂
Green vanillin!
https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2021/06/15/plastic-bottles-vanilla-ecoli/
“Plastic waste — all those bags, fast-food clamshells, water bottles and the like — is a massive global problem. The bacteria E. coli also has a bad reputation, as it can cause a nasty case of food poisoning. But put the two together, and you get something surprising, and pretty sweet: vanilla flavoring widely used in products as diverse as ice cream and soap.”
Beautiful bottle!!
Ooops I commented on the wrong post… Sorry!!
Yeah, the bottles in this article are far from beautiful!
:))
Who on earth ever thought to try that combination?!
I’d love to see somebody here in the US use that process to put a dent in the plastic bottle waste mountain.
Heatwave Day 1; getting into the spirit of things in Thé Pour Un Été. Today probably won’t be too bad — I was able to get the house down to 65 degrees this morning via strategic open windows so the cool should hold for a good part of the day. Tomorrow and Friday will be the tough ones!
Good luck Isabella!!
The heatwave is starting tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to it.
Today I’m wearing Nishane Ege because it’s warm enough to smell like the seaside. I bet tomorrow I’ll be wearing something of similar vibe to feel a tad fresher at 30*C.
You guys too? I was just looking at the temps in Las Vegas, ack.
Hi all! Happy Hump day! My SOTD is Sikkim by Lancome, dry leather chypre decanted into Lupin’s Kissing Dolphins Baccarat crystal bottle.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CQL4PB-hdRO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Sore from yesterday’s workout, and it’s a good feeling. 🙂
Swamped with a project for school that’s nearly completed and work projects. I’ll be busy and hopefully the time will fly by!
Beautiful bottle!!
That’s some bottle porn there, for sure. I’m drooling.
SOTD is Parfum de Therese. It’s been a long week already, they’ve got me working late shifts on Mondays and Tuesdays. I’m not in college anymore, by 9 I should be in my pajamas, not selling appliances!
Dealing with it for now but a job search may be in my future.
Hope you get some rest and pajama time soon!
At least you smelled very classy. Good luck with the job search!
At least I’ll always have that ?
You smell amazing!
You smell just perfect!
I’ve been wearing that too from the recent split, and I really love it. I don’t remember noticing before how long it lasts and what a beautiful scent trace it has in the dry-down.
Sistine, you inspired me yesterday, so today I am wearing Philosykos. Perfect for a day that starts in the mid-sixties, and goes up to the low eighties.
You smell so good. I love that one.
Yay! You smell fabulous.
Aww, the rock candy on the bridge! I worked / lived in Tacoma for two years, almost 20 years ago (sigh). That picture brought back memories!
All this talk of heat waves, and here it is 14C right now. We might make it up to 20 today! (That’s 68F for the Americans. 🙂 ) My weather app says it’s sunny, but the clouds out my window say not.
In PdN L’eau à la Folie today.
Yep, no heat wave here in Duncan. 🙂
Ah, but you have a very large hockey stick, though!
No heat wave here, and you do smell great!
Kilian Love Extreme today…with full points for the gorgeous bottle!?
And the emanating ? ? ? looks pretty as well!
Wearing Nicolai New York today, it smells just right. The PdN bottles are nothing great to look at but that’s probably one way they keep prices so reasonable.
Their alembic logo is a bit odd, but they are putting the money into the perfume itself, where it should go…
I have always wondered about their alembic logo… What is it supposed to represent? Chemist’s test tubes?? Does anyone know?
I always thought the logo was kind of cute–a nice nod to a time-tested process of distilling scents. Do you think it’s odd for them to use an alembic in their logo at all, or do you think their stylization of the alembic is weird?
K + m, I am pretty sure that the alembic does refer to the process of distilling, and a conscious choice for PdN, who had been told by her Guerlain family that she couldn’t make perfume ‘cos she was a girl – well, she showed them! I personally find the logo a touch too industrial, if that makes sense with something from the times of alchemy…
Morning.
Sotd is Angel but lightly misted only. I still think the star is one of the best motif shaped bottles out there.
I love the Angel bottle!
There’s a reason why TM is still using that design.
In Ashoka today on this rainy, stormy day here. Yes, as I mentioned before I adore Neela’s bottles.
🙂
Assam of India. So refreshing on a super hot day. I don’t have a bottle, just a decant, but wish I did- I adore the elephants on it!
Scent siblings in Arz El-Rab. They do pretty backgrounds on their full sized bottles (I’ve got a tester, lol).
That’s in my line up this week too, but I may not manage to get to everything.
But Assam of India, for sure would not own if it were not for the elephants.
In Guerlain Vetiver Pour Elle. It was applied with a mini spritz bottle, since the original, pretty bee bottle is a splash bottle and no way I am chancing wasting even a drop with a hasty application.
When I was younger I only bought splash bottles, now spray is definitely safer!
In SL Vitriol d’Oeillet.
Hope it is a good hump day Amyitis!
I’m wearing Gris Charnel from the recent split meet, and I smell marvelous.
Today in the Mojave it’s expected to reach 115 degrees (that’s 46 for you Celsius folks), so I’m getting all my errands done early, and then I plan to hibernate behind closed curtains for the remainder of the day.
And here I complain whenever it’s above 75 F!
In the immortal words of Private Hudson in Aliens, “Yeah man, but it’s a dry heat.”
If it was 115 degrees where you are, my friend, you’d be living in a steam sauna.
Heh, I would be hunkered down inside!
Stay cool!!!
Good heavens D: stay cool! I thought we were having a hot day. (It’s 93 here in my part of the Bay Area right now. Also a reasonably dry heat.)
E-freaking-gads! That is stinking hot and then some.
In the beautifully bottled Miu Miu L’eau Bleue. Am down to the dregs on this one and will probably finish it by day’s end.
That bottle is the best of the bunch.
SOTD is Almost Transparent Blue from A Lab On Fire. Matches today’s picture! Aldehydes, citrus, hinoki, very light and airy.
I’m off to do errands before it gets hot! hot! hot!
Hope you are relaxing someplace cool now, pixel.
Hermessence Santal Massoia
You smell lovely. That’s a fun one to layer.
I’m in Lostmarc’h Iroaz this morning. I wish I’d discovered this when bottles were still available, because that bottle would definitely be a candidate for the CP this week. Alas, I only have a small decant. But there’s some hope that Lubin Anna might work as a replacement holy-grail beachy-rose scent and, if anything, Anna’s bottle is even more porn-worthy. We shall see!
I’d prefer the Lubin bottle too.
In Celene Ellena’s (Fragonard) Verveine – the bottle and the fragrance are perfectly matched – light and sprightly!
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Fragonard/Verveine-48119.html
I love that bottle – so cute.
Carnal Flower both oil and EDP, I keep forgetting about the CP.
I’m still debating whether to try and beat tomorrow’s heat in something like Azemour or one of the Jardins, or yield to it in Carnal Flower. Guess I’ll have to see what my mood is when I wake! Meanwhile, you smell like heaven. 🙂
Great bottle and great scent!
Smelling great beats a CP match any day, IMO.
SOTD = Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur
https://www.instagram.com/p/CQMEeseBmAx/?utm_medium=copy_link
Green ribbed bottle! Huzzah! My 8 sprays lasted barely 5 hours so I am now in Abaton Chinotto Gourmand ?…will be ordering a bottle.
Chihuly is quite prolific from small to large epic pieces and his works are all over. I have enjoyed his (or his team’s, under his direction) creation in St. Petersburg (FL), Milwaukee Museum of Art, even at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, among other places.
I love that bottle! It’s such an old-fashioned style, but that green brings it into today.
Me too!
Green is my favorite color and this shade is right up there!
I just visited the hashtag referenced in your IG post (bottleporn), and it’s almost entirely booze bottles! Instagramming perfumistas, get out there and take over that hashtag! We cannot allow the world to think those are the only porn-worthy bottles! (Although I do have to say that one perfume-related post there was of the Angels Share bottle, and I WANT ONE!)
We should take it or maybe come up with something else!
Ohhh, that green — exactly the color of the deep pools in Sierra high-country rivers!
I love this particular shade of green!
That is a gorgeous bottle. And the stuff inside ain’t bad, either. ?
A hotel up in Morristown, NJ, has a Chihuly chandelier in its lobby. I’m trying to remember if any of the casinos in AC have any of Chihuly’s work, but it’s been too long.
It’s a wonderful perfume in an equally wonderful bottle! I haven’t been to AC in decades and don’t plan on going either. The next time in Morristown, I have to stop by the hotel!
I love that Chihuly inside the Milwaukee Art Museum. We have similar pieces here in Madison https://publicart.wisc.edu/dale-chihuly-the-mendota-wall/
I love his art!
Yes, it’s very cool!
No nice bottles on hand, so I’m wearing the regular old Byredo Oliver Peoples.
Great scent though! I love Oliver Peoples. My bottle is the olive green one – I liked the different color options.
Mine is green too – would have liked the blue one but they were already sold out as it was being discontinued by the time I bought.
In two from Memo Paris today: Italian Leather and Moroccan Leather. A conversation with SheriG reminded me I had samples of both but hadn’t given them skin tests yet.
IL is great. Something in it reminds me of Eau Duelle; its the vanilla + ______ combo, but I can’t figure out what the second note is. I don’t get much tomato leaf, which is too bad because I love tomato leaf. I will admit to rubbing tomato plant clippings on my arms while gardening for a diy frag. 🙂 All that said, IL is still a little too sweet for me.
ML is a nope on my skin. Reminds me of Nuit de Bakelite, which similarly does not work for me. The green + leather combo is too sharp, although I like No. 19, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Drinking Clipper Ship Assam Bukhial by the gallon today while on a marathon series of training calls for work.
I think I get negative CP points for the Paris Memo bottles tho; their color scheme doesn’t do it for me.
Oh, I have total bottle lust for the Memo African Leather bottle! Doesn’t help that I love the fragrance, too. 😉 Italian Leather is my other fave from that series, and I do get tomato leaf whiffs from it. Have you tried Memory of Kindness for more tomato-leafy goodness?
I get vanilla and cardamom from Eau Duelle.
PSA – Costco.com has Lost Cherry for what seems like a good deal
Very good price – 50ml for $250 vs. $350.
I’m enjoying Bvlgari Black today which is my most unique bottle, though not the prettiest. I have a definite need for more beautiful bottles in my collection. 😀
You smell great! I love that bottle and the uniqueness of that fragrance.
Day: PG Cadjméré which kept me in a woody cocoon.
Evening: In its solid glass square bottle with a driftwood effect wooden cap, Clean Reserve Acqua Néroli.
Sounds like a good progression for the day 🙂
They’re both lovely in their own way, I think you would call Cadjméré wood puddings.
Have we done an ugly duckling CP? Wear the perfume from your ugliest bottle and let others comment on how to make the bottle look interesting and desirable ?.
Interesting proposal.
I hope it gets picked up!
I immediately suggest yarn-bombing…
Only words, no re-dos ?
I can think of ways to make ugly bottles interesting, but duct tape will never be “desirable”.
… you ain’t seen my collection of duct tape yet (very small but colorful)
Wearing Jean Patou Vacances from the recent splitmeet.
I took the day off to decompress. The past two weeks have been hectic at work and coming from a more relaxing environment working from home to full time at the construction sites has been pretty tough for my body. I need to get used to it again ?♀️.
I am in Central Park now with my doggie Yei. I picked up a picnic basket with lunch from a nearby restaurant and we are enjoying the spectacular sunny, breezy day we are having today in New York. This is the first time I am taking my mask off and I am not feeling 100% comfortable yet, despite being outdoors. As soon as I leave the park I will put it on again. I think it will take time for me to be fully unmasked. Back home I will take a nap, take care of a couple of personal things and ready to face the rest of the week.
Happy Wednesday, everyone! ?
That sounds like a really lovely and well-deserved break — I’m glad you’re taking time for yourself!
Thank you, Isabella! A break was so much needed!
I’m visualizing your afternoon in my mind, sounds lovely!
It was a lovely day! Very relaxing and fun!
Yay for taking a mental health day to hang around with your sweet dog!
Thank you, Jalapeno! It was a great day. I am glad the weather was fantastic!
Today was probably the pick of the week, weather wise.
Hooray for a day off! That transition is something else. We had a Town Hall today but I had to leave at the 1/2 hour mark. I do want to hear what I missed so waiting for the replay. I returned for the last 10 minutes and the first 3 people who had raised their hands to ask questions either had technical difficulty, or pulled back on asking their question. The leader said maybe it was something she said (about returning to the office). I am curious ?.
Humpday!
1) SOTD: in Red Apple/Peony/Cashmere wood fragrance by Beauty Pie. Simple, solid bottles with a magnetized cap structure. It’s a lovely, airy sweet floral that dries down to a skin scent in about 4 hours, even with a Hajusuuri application. A perfect pick me up on this cool morning.
2) Kitchen- Purchased all the plumbing parts that I SOMEHOW FORGOT TO ACCOUNT FOR. For PETE’S Sake. But- even though I had installed the toilet in the powder room, I do not feel confident in installing the kitchen plumbing.
Will start sealing the countertops tomorrow when we will have good hot weather to allow it to cure.
Hey, I’m impressed that you installed the toilet in the powder room!
This was my story with Memoire d’une Odeur although I eked out an extra hour, barely!
And here I thought I accomplished something with cleaning my stovetop! I did, but not toilet installation accomplishment.
Memoire is so lovely but becomes a skin scent real quick in the heat! I like it better in the winter!
Cleaning a stove top IS an accomplishment, especially if you have one of those gas tops!
SotD is Creed Love in Black. I’m not a Creed lover in general, but this is a pretty violet and I like it fine. Plus, I got a partial bottle on the ‘bay, so it was affordable.
Confession time: I have a small-ish collection of feminine-marketed frags in black bottles. They used to be a lot harder to find, but now they seem to be more common. Oh well, I still like them. *And* I don’t have to worry about displaying them on my dresser!
I feel dumb. What is the confession? Why not display them? Inquiring minds . . .
The confession is to being a bottle collector. ? I feel more guilt about buying bottles because of the way they look rather than for the scent inside. Call me crazy!
Some people pay a lot of money for glass decorations that don’t contain perfume. At least your collection has a dual purpose! I love perfume bottles, and can be swayed by a good one if the price is right.
Thanks, lillyjo, you’re so sweet! And a night owl, like me. ?
Another day that might get over 100°. Wearing Le Wild since I like white florals in the heat (except of course that I’m not budging out of the air conditioned apartment)
I love tuberose in hot weather — it’s intense but in a good way!
I’m wearing Bulgari Parfumée Au Thé Blanc from a very sweet little gift box sent me by a generous NST-er. It’s light and pretty without being wimpy, if you catch my drift. I’m trying to get ready for my shoulder replacement surgery, now scheduled for next Tuesday, while also taking one of my cats every day to drop her off at the vet’s for “K-laser” treatments. She got bad bite wounds from another cat and they became abscessed and quite gross. This treatment is supposed to be a painless way of cleaning them out every day. But after five days (@ $50/shot) it doesn’t appear to be working, which means she may need surgery soon. I tried to explain to the vet how I have my own surgery coming up too…. Ugh. I do have friends who can help if need be.
Oh, poor kitty, and I’m sorry you have so many medical events going on all at once! Sending very best wishes for an excellent outcome for your shoulder surgery, and I do hope your friends can help coordinate it all and support you.
You definitely smell pretty without being wimpy! Thé Blanc is so light but so darn pleasant — a great scent for when you’re feeling tired and/or thirsty and not up for perfume-with-a-capital-P.
Yikes Calypso, that is a lot going on. I hope your shoulder surgery goes well!?
Ooooof. That’s a lot of medical/vet stuff to be dealing with all at once.
I second the ooooof.
Good luck Calypso!
Oh boy! Accept all the help — this is a lot!
I’m in Dune. I almost forgot about my bottle tucked in the top drawer of my dresser until hajusuuri posted a picture on Instagram. Dune really is so good. In my desert island ten list.
Didn’t comment yesterday because I was too crabby.? You know the kind of day, or maybe you don’t, lol. Anyway, today is better. AND I got home to find my Chanel lippy had arrived. In 2 days! Yes, I think Boy is perfect for me. Light coverage with just a hint of color. The formula feels silky smooth. I think I’m getting addicted to the Chanel packaging.? That is not a good thing.
Oh, we know the kind of day. 🙂 You smell good, and your lips look great!
Thanks!?
Lol! You’re hooked!
I know! Chanel packaging anonymous, here I come!?
It sounds like that shade match worked out great for you! But your wallet might disagree…
Lol, you might be right!?
Glad you had a better day! And that your fun new lippie arrived!
Thanks Gail!?
You smell great and your lippie match sounds fantastic!
Thanks!?
Perfect early summer weather this afternoon, punctuated with the extremely annoying noise of wood chippers. Those are even worse than leaf blowers, IMO. ??
SOTD = AG Mandragore. Sample thunk!
I can’t think of wood chippers without thinking of Fargo!
Did you get a decant of Mandragore?
I did! I’m waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
Yup! I agree with you on the wood chippers.
Sorry you had that irritating noise to deal with. Not much gets under my skin quicker than that and leaf blowers. I had a few choice words for our gardeners about a month ago when they were using a leaf blower; they may be afraid of me now.
Hopefully that is done for this week and I won’t have to hear it again tomorrow.
There’s work going on next door and today, there was drilling, on and off, ugh.
Congrats on the thunk!
Blargh on the construction-type noises that you are dealing with!
I’ve been on a bit of a sample thunking roll lately. Noticed that some of them were evaporating, ack! Time to look thru more of the stash.
Sotd is TF Eau de Soliel Blanc. I needed something to match my Coconut Lime body cream. I went to the bbw semi annual sale. I did pretty good. I got 7 items for under 25 dollars. I had a coupon to save 10 off of 40, but I just couldn’t decide on anything else and started to get overwhelmed, so I called it good and left.
You smell great! Sounds like you got some good deals.?
Happy Belated Birthday to your son!!? Did you get to celebrate after work?
You got some great deals at BBW.
Glad you got a few fun things! I can’t wait to go to my BBW in person!
