Hump Day and Coral Triangle Day. Birthdays: Cole Porter and Jackie Wilson, plus happy 60th to Michael J Fox! What fragrance are you wearing?
More points for me: I'm wearing a few dabs of Kai.
Reminder: on 6/11, for King Kamehameha I Day, wear a tropical or beachy floral. Bonus points if your fragrance includes at least one floral or fruit note native to Hawaii. (Native in modern times, that is, given that many of the flowers and fruits we associate with Hawaii were brought from elsewhere.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

This might grab some points too.
Hermès 24 Faubourg. Spiced white floral. So pretty and luxurious.
You smell wonderful!
You smell absolutely fabulous! I just might join you in fabulosity. ?
you smell heavenly 😀 that’s one of my most favorite floral scents.
You smell so good!
Very classy SOTD!
You smell terrific! It is one of my favorite scents! ❤
You smelled great today!
From an Atelier Cologne discovery set, Clémentine California. It’s… okay? It’s just okay. It stirs no particular feelings in me either way. It’ll do for a warm overcast day. The only Atelier I’ve ever liked enough to buy is Rose Anonyme, and this one isn’t changing that opinion.
Atelier is yet another of the nice-enough, but too expensive houses. I’ve liked Trefle Pur, Orange Sanguine and Vanille Insensee enough to buy at least a travel size.
Perfect description of Atelier.
Yeah, I bought the travel size of Rose Anonyme because it’s all I’ll ever get through and the line really is overpriced for what it is.
I have a sample and I like Clementine California quite a lot, but orange notes seldom play nice on my skin. They never have that melding moment; they either radiate nice orange smells, like CC, but that are like a room spray around me, or they meld but in a plast-ICKY way. I can’t think of an example at the moment, but in general citrus colognes are not my thing. I love and have an FB of Cafe Tuberosa. Also getting to know Jasmine Angelique from the Swapmeet. It is very much in my wheelhouse.
Rose Anonyme is a very nicely balanced rose oud. I would have bought some, too, if I hadn’t already acquired a couple of good ones by the time it came out.
FWIW, I like a bunch of their scents, and Clementine California was also just meh. For me, the winners have been Trefle Pur, Pomelo Paradis, and Bergamote Soleil. Those are the ones I’ve purchased 30mL of. I’ve used up several smaller samples of Orange Sanguine but don’t like it enough for 30 mL.
Love today’s image, Robin!!
Regarding Assam of India, you must get it!!! Lemon, tea and sandalwood. In the summer of 2016 I wore it daily for eight weeks straight, documenting it’s usage here by the rows of elephants left. I think I earned twenty enabler pins from commenters here that summer. If you decide to get it make sure to seek out a discount online. The Berdoues Grand Cru Collection are often discounted online.
Exactly, comes the time I must finally get it. Yes, I have seen it discounted somewhere online before – off to search where it was 🙂
doooo iiiitttt! 😀 cm8 inspired my love for Berdoues perfumes, and I’ve always been grateful.
🙂
I’m continuing with not wanting any thing too sweet-smelling, so today I’m in Cartier L’Envol edp. I don’t understand why this is marketed to men.
A local perfume pal wears it and it smells great on her.
That is a good one.
I don’t know much about that one but I do love a lot of scents that are supposed to be for men lol so I’ll have to look it up!
Good morning! SOTD is Datura Noir by Serge Lutens. Dabbed, as this is a power house, tropical floral. I like it best in more humid weather but this isn’t one I reach for very often.
Up late working on homework and a work project, on my cup #2 of espresso. Soooo tired!
I’ll get my gym clothes on soon and head out of the door! 🙂
We’ve got the humidity–plus the heat–so you’ve given me an idea of what to wear today!
Ahhhhh I love Datura Noir!! You smell delicious!! Yum!!
You smell wonderful!
I have joined you now in this sweetly addictive and heady scent!
Hooray! You smell marvelous Calypso!
You too!
Yay for caffeine and a good workout! ?
Twins with Robin in Kai (lotion) – goes on big and stays big, transporting me to tropical paradise.
Hey twin!! I think the lotion is better than the oil or dry oil.
In an oldie but a goodie, Joy edt (the “real” Joy by Patou).
ahhhhh. you smell heavenly.
You smell good!
Oh, Joy is so spectacularly good!
I think you should get CP extra credit. The original, to me, is a tropical garden in the moon’s light.
Love that!
Ooh lovely 🙂
Oh, how lovely! I’m trying to help a friend find a small sample of vintage Joy because her mother used to wear it. I wonder if you have any tips? I’ve seen one seller on etsy who has good reviews. Also, what version do you think a relatively well-off woman of the 1950s and 60s have worn? Edp, Edt?
It’s sweet of you to help your friend, edp didn’t exist in the 50’s and 60’s ims.
I recently got a decant of the original from Perfumed Court. It’s lovely.
I am hardly an expert, but I would think a well-off woman would have worn the parfum. My father’s mother bought my mother a bottle of etd in about 1975, and I remember that she turned her nose up at it because it was “the cheapest” version. She gave it to me and I LOVED it.
I tried the edp at some point, and whether it was my nostalgia for what I had had as a girl, or something else, I vastly preferred the edt. I have never sniffed the extrait/parfum though. I found my vintage bottle of edt on eBay a few years ago.
No points for me in Rose Ikebana. What a grapefruit-Rose dream boat of a fragrance. But since it will be gone any minute now, I might join Robin and allo in some dabs of Kai.
Aha, and my Kai is long gone and was trying to decide on an early evening scent. Rose Ikebana it is, now we have completed the circle.
Hello, hello, NST! Did you miss me? I’m back from holidays and today was my first day back at work. The trip was wonderful but I’m most glad that the weather was spot on for the entire week.
Today I am in Parle Moi de Parfum Chypre Mojo.
Welcome back!
I have a large sample of Chypre Mojo. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don’t. How do You like it?
Nice to see you! Perfect weather on vacation is a great thing.
Glad you had great weather! Welcome back!
Welcome back, Lucas!
Welcome back! I hope the transition from vacation back to work is gentle!
Welcome back, glad you had a good time!
Welcome back!
last day of project!!
New one on Monday.
SOTD will be Bukhara again since I loved smelling myself yesterday.
Laptop closes at 2pm then off to dentist.
I love smelling Hawaii when I am there, but don’t really like any really tropical scents.
Hope your dentist visit is easy peasy!
No tropical scents in my bag of traveling decants, so I’m in Ummagumma on this cool sunny morning. Off for a day of exploring and shopping in Victoria (although all I plan to buy is tea and biscuits).
Ooh, visit Murchie’s for me!
I did, it was lovely as usual. Bought some tea to take home, then got biscuits at the South African grocery, Aubergine Foods. 🙂
What a great day ahead, enjoy! You smell great!
It turned out great, sunny all day! We looked at furniture, went to MEC, Murchie’s, Roots and various other little shops.
Sounds fabulous!
Scents: Lucy B Pink Frangipani from my rollerball. Description from site: “This smooth, slightly sweet, floral & fruit fragrance is composed with top notes of pink grapefruit and pineapple a heart of red suva frangipani in a base of heliotrope and coconut milk.” I would call it light-hearted fun.
and
Aerin Lauder Hibiscus Palm from a rollerball. It’s fine, but the rollerball is probably enough.
That Lucy B does sound fun! I forgot about that brand.
Racking up points in Fleurs de Iles bt Coqui Coqui. Tiare, coconut, and frangipani, oh my!
Even the name sounds like a tropical getaway!
That sounds right up my alley!
Not tropical but very pretty and summery, La Chasse aux Papillions. I have graduated to my summer scent rotation…Tomorrow will be Kismet. The next day will be my new bottle, Bukhara, my post operation present to myself. I had to have my thyroid out, which is something that happens to every one in my family sooner or later. Mine was just inconveniently large, but not cancerous, so now I take a little pill each morning and don’t have to worry about it any more. My brother is just starting radiation therapy – he got his out three days before I did, but they found ugly bits in his, so they are zapping him just to be sure they got it all. The wonders of modern medicine. I have the impulse to buy more perfumes now that I have broken the no purchase barrier…I am thinking Nishane Ani, which is a pretty and sophisticated cedar to my nose, like LADDM’s cousin who grew up in the city… 🙂 But the discussion of Assam of India above is making me waver. Time for more samples, I suppose….
Glad you’re post op and on the mend! Sending your brother my best wishes.
Thanks for the good thoughts.
Wishing you and your brother the best of health! Congrats on the new bottle!
Thank you!
On the mend and smelling marvelous 🙂
I respritzed at lunch, and continue to feel better, thanks!
Glad you are doing well!
Thank you, honestly, I am too!
Great news! I wish your brother well.
I appreciate the good wishes. Thanks.
My sister had her thyroid removed too. Other is on meds because hers is either hypo or hyper…can’t remember. Mine so far is normal, but that seems to be fairly rare for women after a certain age.
Best wishes to your brother…my sister had to deal with that too. And she came out fine.
I grew up in an area where there is no iodine in the ground, so lots of people develop goiters. 5 family members have had to have theirs out. Three were benign, and two had to have radiation. I am glad I did mine in time.
Wow, that’s an interesting bit of information! My naturopathic doctor has me taking a bit of extra iodine, but he said it was to ward off breast cancer. Best wishes for you and your brother!
It’s why there is iodized salt sold in grocery stores.
Glad you’re on the other side of your procedure, and you definitely deserve a celebratory new bottle! Very best wishes to all your family.
Thank you very much!
Glad of your recovered health, best wishes to your brother.
I had the fantasy that I would be one of those people who got on thyroid meds and magically drop 10% of their body weight, but that does not seem to be happening. 🙂
Good luck to you and your brother!
Thank you missionista! He is also a smoker, and he is very concerned. I hope he comes through with flying colors.
Glad you are recovering well! Do update us about your brother, that’s scary.
He had the first radiation treatment Wednesday-just a pill.
Good. Hope the side effects are minimal.
Fingers crossed for both you and your brother! Hope that the recovery process is quick and uneventful.
Thank you. I feel pretty back to normal, just a bright red scar on my neck and a little soreness if I stretch my neck.
Wishing good health and quick recovery to you and your brother!
Thanks- everyone here is so kind!
Sending positive vibes for you and your brother!
I appreciate the good thoughts!
The fiancé is on a trip to the east coast to see family—our first time apart for more than a few hours in about 15 months—so I’m living it up in Zoologist Bee, a scent he hates. I’m feeling lonely (especially since our surviving cat, Mischief, passed away suddenly almost six weeks ago), but this seems like a good way to remember what life was like before he and I were around each other all day, every day.
I’m sorry about Mischief, Koyel.
It’s nice to see you post.
Have you made any wedding plans?
Thank you, lillyjo; we were devastated by her loss, largely because of how completely unexpected it was. It’s very nice to talk to you again <3 Still no wedding plans 🙂 though we have started looking at wedding rings, and have been talking about at least getting courthouse married before the end of the year, depending on taxes 🙂 At this point, I don't think we can expect to be married before spring of 2022. I have friends who started dating after we got engaged and will be married before we get married!
Ha! I do the same. Hubs works on Sunday so I save the stuff he hates for then.
So sorry about Mischief, Koyel. There just aren’t the right words to comfort for the loss of a beloved pet, it’s a unique relationship. You are smelling wonderful in Bee, we are house twins today. It’s nice to see you ❤️
Thank you ringthing <3 it really is. I miss her every day.
Nice to see you here again too 🙂
Saw your post on Insta back when it happened. So sorry about Mischief.
Thank you, hajusuuri <3
hi Koyel! just this morning I was contemplating spending some time with Chloe Ting. It’s summer break so I’ve got a little more time on my hands, might as well stay busy.
Very sorry about Mischief – furry family members are so hard to let go. Hope you enjoy your quiet alone time with Bee. You smell beautiful.
Good for you; you totally should! I continued doing it regularly until last December, but since then, I’ve been on some really busy projects, and only manage to do her videos a few times per week :-/ my muscles can tell the difference, sadly.
And thank you <3
I was so sorry when you lost Mischief. Very sad. Looking for rings is a step! My husband and I were horrible at that. We were just joking about our rings yesterday. I bought his on the street in Soho in NYC for about $10, and he treasures it. It was supposed to be a temporary solution, but he’s worn it for almost 24 years now….
Thank you, LizzieB <3
And what a cute story about your husband's ring 🙂
So sorry about Mischief, may the memories comfort you.
Thank you, Aurora <3 they do.
Sorry about your cat.
Thank you, missionista <3
Nice to “see” you! Glad you are enjoying Bee today.
I did see your IG post on Mischief, it is so heartbreaking when our furry friends leave us.
Thank you, Gail <3 and it's nice to see you on NST again, too 🙂
I’m very sorry Koyel about your sweet Mischief passing away.
Thank you, Barqs, she really was the sweetest.
Aw, so sorry to hear that your sweet Mischief kitty passed over The Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly. ?
Thank you, Jalapeno <3 we miss her.
So sorry about Mischief! Sending hugs. Nice to see you here.
Thank you, pl67 <3 and it's good to see you here, too!
I wish I could send my husband on a trip, it’s been a very long pandemic and I could use a break. My sympathies to you on the loss of Mischief, it’s so hard when our furry friends have to leave us.
So sorry about Mischief, friend. Enjoy a little alone- time!
Wearing the lamentably discontinued Pacifica Waikiki Pikake. Pikake flowers are actually introduced Jasminum sambac. Tiare flowers are native to the South Pacific and are members of the gardenia family. Pull out your monoi oil if you have some. I like the very affordable Yves Rocher version but purchasing the real Tahiti Monoi is easy enough online. Tiare as a fragrance ingredient is always rendered by enfleurage, a labor intensive and expensive proposition. The only perfume I can readily think of that contains tiare as an ingredient is Ormonde Jayne Tiare. I am sure there are others….
Oh, I forgot that I still had a bit of this! Have just put on a spritz. The first few minutes are Too Much, but the drydown is lovely, despite my not being a BWF fan.
I love the OJ Tiare!
Good morning.
Today will be super hot according to the weather forecast, I am not looking forward to it.
I am wearing Neroli Portofino and cooling off.
Drinking a cup of iced tea and having a slice of toast with apricot jam. Yum.
Apricot jam sounds wonderful. Our local organic market got apricots from somewhere and I got some yesterday, the first shipment sold out quickly. They are delicious.
I love apricot jam on pancakes, you’ve made me hungry 🙂
Mmm, apricot jam!! Lucky you.
Toast with apricot jam and butter is my fave. 🙂
Trying Rebecca Minkoff today which some posted as a good, cheap thrill and it IS! 🙂 Warm and spicy tobacco and vanilla. Some have found it at Marshalls on discount…I was not so lucky but indulged in the cute half ounce travel spray and am not disappointed.
PSA that Macy’s has 15% beauty and fragrance right now!
Has anyone tried any of the Korres perfume line? I am eyeing Midnight Dahlia based on a Fragrantica article but need to check if any have vanilla… .?
I too keep hearing good things about the Korres, including astounding prices for them at Marshalls/Maxx. Must.not.blind.buy, though, as it just never works out…
I have not tried any of the Korres perfumes but I use their skin care and body lines and do like how they scent their products. Just applied the Basil Mandarin Firming Serum Spray. The Fig Body Butter smells great – fresh and green, not sweet, and I love the Wild Orchid, Olive Blossom, and Pomegranate bath and body products from the Olive Oil line. Also, the packaging is gorgeous.
Tobacco and vanilla: you smell ready to take your day by storm!
I bought the Korres Saffron Iris perfume, lotion and shower gel set. It’s quite enjoyable and inexpensive.
SotD Beyond Paradise. When I first fell down the rabbit hole, it was all over The ‘Bay for cheap and I got several rainbow bottles. It has the odd quality of not being a heart-stopper at first, but as I wear it it smells very good on me. As an aside, before I started thinking about the CP, I saw my little bottle of vintage Halston parfum. Thanks to a seminar by Jessica, I started looking and found the teardrop with the paper label. The stopper was stuck, but I did the 15 minutes in the freezer method and it opened without breaking. When I dab it on, I get bad top notes, but then the moss and carnation and other wonderful base note come out. I guess I smell really weird now but it’s working for me.
you smell beyond beautiful 😀 There is something in the base of some EL scents that really melds wonderfully with skin for some people.
‘Zackly so; thanks, tiffanie :D. For the umpteenth time, I say I am an EL fangirl all the way. LOL, like those Ford vs. Chevy bumper stickers one sees: I’d rather smell bad in vintage Estee Lauder than good in (fill in the blank)
Hermès Santal Massoia. This scent makes me smile when I wear it ?
Tonight I am going to a 50s themed dinner in a French Quarter restaurant, with a group of friends. I am dressing as Summer Lovin’ Sandy from Grease. One of my friends who is very elegant, is going with a very sophisticated dress with full skirt, rectangular shaped evening bag and pearls. Should be fun.
Sounds like fun! Will you switch perfumes?
I haven’t thought about that 🙂 — maybe !!
I wonder what Sandy would go with??
mmmm, Santal Massoia. If that’s the milky one I have to agree, it makes me smile and giggle a little. 😀
🙂
Have a ball Barqs!
What fun! She would totally wear a BWF I think. Something sweet and floral. But maybe one with a dirty undertone waiting to come out. FM Carnal Flower?
Wearing Zoologist Hummingbird today, it smells pretty and happy to me. Still trying to shake off negative vibes. I’m ready to try old movies again, has anyone seen The More the Merrier w/Jean Arthur and Joel McCrea? So funny!
I adore Hummingbird! Its very high up on my buy list 🙂
thank you for the movie title, I could use some funny. I added it to my watch list. To Catch a Thief, His Girl Friday, and The Lady from Shanghai are currently in my queue.
I just watched His Girl Friday the other night for about the 5th time. The rapid fire dialog is amazing!
yes, for sure! Those writers were at the top of their game. I often replay a good scene to re-watch and listen as it unfolds. 😀
My Man Godfrey is my go-to movie when I need to chase away the blues 🙂
(And The Women, the original one.)
Excellent choice! I love William Powell in that movie but Carole Lombard’s mother makes me nervous.
I think she is supposed to make you nervous! But yeah.
Wearing Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise Blue for the CP. I love the multi-colored bottles, all sadly replaced by not so beautiful ones. I treasure both my full bottles of Beyond Paradise and Beyond Paradise Blue.
Very busy day at the sites today. Having lunch now and back to read comments later today.
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
you smell lovely 😀 BP deserves more attention!
Thank you, Tiffanie! Beyond Paradise is one of those gems nobody seems to wear anymore.
I have never even read a description of this one! I’ll have to look it up!
I went through my bottle of BP very fast some many years ago. Loved it.
It is a beautiful scent indeed. I don’t wear it that often anymore, but I enjoy it when I do.
Hi, twin! You smell fabulously tropical!
Thank you, MossyBerry! I am wearing the Blue today, which to my nose is more fruity than the original BP. Still a very nice one!
Oh, I caught that after I posted: fraternal twins!?!
?
That bottle was so pretty! Unfortunately, the perfume itself never worked for me.
The bottle is gorgeous! I do not collect empty bottles, no matter how beautiful they are. However, I will keep this one once I finish the perfume. That may never happen, since I barely wear it these days!
Was thinking about having a 3rd day of Pleasures but decided against it for some reason. Wearing no 5 edp today. Bath and Body Works is having a single wick candle sale and my friend asked me to get him 3. But I bought only 1 for me.
That’s restraint 🙂
Commando apart from my very nice Biotherm bodylotion that kind of reminds me of Cristalle a little. Recuperating from the effects of my second Moderna jab. I’ve felt really crap for a day or so but am now most definitely on the mend.
I’m glad you are feeling better.
Glad you are on the mend and fully immunised. Biotherm creams are good quality imo, the Cristalle aspect a bonus.
Glad you are starting to feel better
Glad you’re feeling better!
Pleased to hear that you are getting better!
The crap lasted 30 hours for me. Hope you’re totally back to normal tomorrow!
The second was a doozy for me. Hang in there!
SotD = Iris Ukiyoe
because it’s my yoga scent, and I will practice crow pose today.
It never goes well (so far!), but at least I am appropriately scented.
Just for fun hope you enjoy these ukiyo-e images:
https://kottke.org/21/06/edo-period-shadow-puppetry-woodblock-prints
I’ve always been baffled by crow pose — how can anyone endure the pain of putting most of their body weight onto two spots on their triceps? I’ll stick with some nice forward bends and hip openers…
ha! yes, crow pose seems absurd. My yoga friends who enjoy it have a lot of strength in their abs – which is not true for me. I’m all about the stretching. 😀
Crow pose is so hard. I was working on it hard a few years back, but since the pandemic my yoga has gone way downhill.
yah, pandemic has taken a toll, and crow is hard for sure. Today I practiced with my feet up on a yoga block, hands on the floor. It gave me extra lift, but I still can’t get both feet off the ground. Maybe someday! 😉
Seriously, one time only I managed to get my feet up & properly placed and I held it for a few seconds. That’s my best and doubt I will get there again.
But my yoga teacher also taught us to get one of the extra large blocks and place it vertically, & use it to stabilize the head so you didn’t have to worry about pitching forward while you were learning to get your legs balanced on your arms. I did find that helpful, possibly because I *did* face plant a few times…
I found a picture, it is modification 2:
https://www.yogajournal.com/practice/beginners/how-to/3-ways-get-crow-pose/
Wearing Terracotta today. I may add some Vetiver or Kiehl’s Musk to tone down the sweetness.
I need to get to know my Kiehl’s musk better! My bottle has been languishing in a drawer. In my theory, I am not a musk person, but I fell hard for Clair de Musc a few years ago, and grabbed the Kiehl’s in passing.
I haven’t used my Kiehl’s much either, sadly. I think it works better for me as a layering scent (which I rarely do).
You smell absolutely delightful!
Minor CP points for me today in Malibu Lemon Blossom. At least it’s Pacific Rim related! Realized to my utter bemusement this morning that I had the dates wrong for one of my son’s summer camps and that I’d double-booked this week for a camping trip *and* his summer camp. But, since the two venues are only 45 minutes apart, I’m going to try to do both and drive him to the (half-day) camp tomorrow and Friday and otherwise hopefully enjoy some time off in the woods. Feeling sheepish and a little overwhelmed, but I think we’ll still have fun!
I like your thinking – I’m guessing all will work out well. Yay for camping and summer camp!
Oh, that does sound do-able! Hope it works out.
Aloha Tiare for the CP. I specifically dug it out of the box holding some of my scents and moved it to the summer station on my dresser. Frangipani is top note, so bonus points!
I bought coffee at the local roaster yesterday, and one of the women working there commented that someone smelled really good. I couldn’t remember if I’d put on scent. Then I remembered! Terracotta with a spritz of OJ Frangipani on top. Guess it worked well, if she could smell it over coffee beans and grinders working.
AC is being hooked up as we speak. We specifically went to a local tavern last night to cool down. I do love a good grilled bratwurst and sauerkraut…there’s a reason I moved to WI. Then we walked down to watch an incredible sunset. Deep, deep reds.
Your evening sounds lovely. So glad the AC is getting fixed!
Hooray for the AC issue finally being resolved!
Wearing Penhaligon’s Gardenia today. I looked it up, and there is a species of Gardenia native to Hawaii, although I have a hard time associating Penhaligon’s with anything Hawaiian…
So close to thunking this 5mL as well…
Penhaligon’s in Hawaii does, frankly, sound wrong!
I’ve got very little in the way of tropical perfumes. I’m saving Datura Noir for Friday, but I did manage this morning to spy my little sample bottle of Mango Kulfi, from L’Aromatica, and I’m calling it CP compliant.
Tropical…I do have to think about what I’ll be wearing on Friday. I may be a happy fail.
Thanks for the sympathy yesterday on my insomnia. Luckily I rarely have it two nights in a row, so I slept like a log last night.
No CP for me today. I spent the morning in Pineward Murkwood. I ordered the Pineward discovery samplers on a whim. This is the first one I’ve tried and I’m impressed. I get fir greenery, wood, incense, and also some myrrh (which to my nose/mind is similar to but less sweet than amber). We have a Contender for the Forest Scent Finals! I would like a moist dirt note in the final winner, but If I end up having to layer scents to get what I ultimately want, I expect this will be one of the layers. I’m looking forward to trying the other samples. They all have a thick, sticky juice consistency, and are very deeply colored; this one was almost black. I assume it is because of the natural materials he uses to make them, but the consistency is unlike any other frag I’ve ever seen.
Post shower, I am in nothing but the faint remnant of L’Orange Verte shower gel. Staying commando so I’m ready for tonight’s Sniffa event. Hoping to see some of you there.
Drinking Golden Monkey tea with milk. I know most people would scoff at adding milk but I like milk & honey flavor combo.
Don’t listen to the scoffers!
Your forest scents sound great.
I ordered the Pineward sample set too earlier this year. I probably read it too but was disappointed that they were dabber samples. I have to go looking for them!
I prefer spray samples too, but with these I’d be worried that stray spray would hit my clothes and leave a stain, so I think we are better off with dabbers.
PS – Your splits arrived safe and sound today. Thanks so much for extra samples – I’ve not heard of either and am looking forward to trying them.
Yay, thanks for letting me know! I hope you enjoy them!
I add milk to all my black tea! Let the scoffers scoff.
Day: Un Matin d’Orage edt, gardenia and jasmine, no tuberose the reason why I chose the edt which was released first ,CP compliant… I think
Evening: Fils de Dieu, CP related too?
I’d say Fils de Dieu has a tropical vibe, so yes.
And, another lemming bursts out of the cage…..
This is a savory tropical, not sweet. I definitely get rice, coconut milk, and lime from it.
?
Glad you think so.
I started to write a comment yesterday, but was interrupted by one of the cats bringing in a large rat. It was already dead, for which I was very grateful. I went to pick it up by the tail to get rid of it, but Deuc sank his teeth into the rat again, and I ended up crouched on the lounge floor in a tug-of-war over a rat corpse!! The subsequent 31 Rue Cambon was appropriately calming.
Today’s perfume will be Fort and Manle’s Suleyman le Magnifique. I like a lot from this house.
Kitties! Our beloved pocket tiger, after two weeks in the cat hospital for some unknow kidney failure and on her first night home, upon being taken outside by my husband for some fresh air, muscled out of his arms after a minute on the porch, plunged into the bushes, and came up with a mouse. I think Le Deuc deserves some meaty treat of a more cleanly processed origin.
Pocket tiger….love it.
Ack! A full blown rat kill! Your furry friend is ferocious.
Just now thinking more about Estee Lauder the business women. Her birthday is July 1. Robin: maybe you can declare an Estee Lauder day at NST??? I am so *not* a sales person but I like her life story very much.
Good thought.
I co-sign this!
Thirding this!
Sure.
STOOPID humid here today, with more afternoon thunderstorms. Ugh.
SOTD = Passage d’Enfer, to try and make the humid smell a little better.
Humid here too.
I think I read too late to comment yesterday but sorry to read about your mom. Sending strength and good thoughts.
Thanks madtowngirl. That situation is a long term haul. We’re trying to be proactive instead of reactive, but sometimes that’s easier said than done.
Oh no, so sorry to hear this.
Sympathy appreciated, thanks!
I read too late yesterday as well. Sending you and your brother good thoughts as you navigate this road.
When my sister and I were going through something similar with our Mom, it was different each day with her. It’s nice that you have each other to lean on.
Thanks. We’ve noticed that Mom has good days and bad days. To be expected, between the dementia and the strokes. That doesn’t mean that it’s easier to deal with sometimes.
Glad that my brother and I have been able to be each other’s emotional support human.
HUMID here too but I managed a walk. Barely 1 mile in and boom, lightning and thunder but no rain but that was my signal to get home!
I hope your mom has more good days than bad. Glad you have your brother as well.
I heard Round #3 or #4 of thunder not too long ago. I am hunkered down and staying in.
Gross humid here too. Expecting a break next week hopefully.
I think the ICK is supposed to clear out here either tomorrow or Friday. Can’t happen soon enough! ?
I’m in Olivine Atelier More than the Stars perfume oil. Almond, stargazer lily, gardenia and vanilla. It’s pretty good.
Wow! What a day. Barely had time to scarf down my lunch. Now to catch up on comments.
Stargazer lilies are gorgeous and smell great, but their blooms are SO fragile!
Happy Birthday to Michael J Fox! A total Fox imo. I love him in everything. Also, whenever I am in a rolling chair ( hardly ever) I think of him in the intro of Family Ties, lol.
Sotd is Elie Saab Le Parfum L’eau Couture. Thanks to a wonderful swap. I normally struggle with orange blossom, but this is very easy for me to wear.
You can be great friends with She-Ra!
I know! I am following her new quest closely!

BWFs aren’t usually your friend are they? Or is it just orange blossom that is a problem?
It’s just the orange blossom. I get along with the rest.
SOTD = Les Eaux de Chanel Edimbourg
and when it fizzled out in 3 hours
SOTD = Ulrich Lang New York Lightscape
I got the Chanel from pixel’s split and Lighscape was from a Sniffapalooza virtual masterclass last week!

I also just got done with an Abaton masterclass with Chinotto as a theme. OMG – my favorite is the Gourmand!

In other news:
– packages galore! From LuckyScent: Goldfield & Banks Silky Woods and Nez Ambre a Levres. From 4160Tuesdays: Fluffy Lemon Top, Meet Me On The Corner and a secret to be revealed perfume ?
– My check to NJ for taxes owed was cashed AND my refund from NY was deposited into my account. Woohoo on both. I now need to figure out how to have more withholding taken out of my pay because we’re switching to a new payroll and the courtesy withholding will stop. Wah wah – it probably means I have to pay estimated taxes.
Fizzled out even with 8 sprays?
The Fluffy Lemon Top sounds delicious already. Report back!
Yep. They’re not known to have great longevity to begin with but this was the shortest. That said, it is. Nice spicy citrus.
I looked up Fluffy Lemon Top and it sounds like something I need to try for sure lol!
Wow, only 3 hours for the latest Chanel Les Eaux?
I was surprised. It was actually less than that but I just rounded up.
I ended up with a bottle of Lightscape from a garage sale and really enjoy it. I had given it to my husband and took it back when I smelled it a second time and picked up the iris.
That’s what I detected as well!
This is so fun: so many perfume packages!!
Yes. And I got another package from the SplitMeet. I will open it tomorrow.
Still on my sample adventure. Thunked Byredo Palermo yesterday (I really like but no need to buy) and Diptyque Kimonanthe which I like even more but probably will also not buy. Just too many perfumes out there and you gotta prioritize somehow.
I will definitely be on theme the rest of the week though. I adore beachy and tropical haha. Though not the most “sophisticated” probably, it just makes me happy!
Also I should acknowledge Michael J Fox’s birthday. Since my husband had a childhood Back to the Future obsession which led to an adult DeLorean obsession, it seems the right thing to do! We’re big fans around here haha! ? “Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me you built a time machine…out of a DeLorean?”
