Diptyque Eau Rihla ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 4 May 2021 13 Comments

Diptyque has launched Eau Rihla, a new fragrance inspired by the scholar and explorer Ibn Battūta.

This Diptyque Eau Rihla Eau de Parfum evokes memories of travels and chronicles a long journey, where leather, in all its splendour, changes throughout its composition. At first, the spicy liveliness of pink peppercorn and the woody notes of Atlas cedar create a vibrant accord.

Eau Rihla was developed by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin and centers on leather. Additional notes include raspberry, pink pepper, saffron, cedar, iris, musk and vanilla.

Diptyque Eau Rihla is available at Bloomingdales in Dubai, in 75 ml Eau de Parfum. It will go into wider distribution later this year.

Ohh, I do love leather and cedar in a perfume. I might give this a try.

I am hoping for lots of vanilla and light leather. 😉 Fragrantica did a write up on it as well…no affiliation.

The notes sound absolutely wonderful, but I would not think of this as ‘inspired’ by Ibn Battuta at all! Given his explorations, fruity/vanilla/leather/light wood would not be my guess for this!

Somehow they seem to be linking it to the idea of a leather bound notebook in which you would keep a log of your travels? I think?

Maybe he had a raspberry scented eraser for the pencil he used. Lol

(I know these were invented much later..but makes the joke more funny imo but I am weird like that). Lol. Maybe he liked berry pie whilst logging.

Meh, saffron. Am I the only one who’s not a big fan of this note? And it’s used more often. But this is Diptyque, somehow I bet they make this one smell nice lol
