Hey, it's Spring Clean Friday! (Also, World Voice Day and Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day.) Our community project for today: wear the perfect fragrance for doing household chores. Thanks go to LisaD for the suggestion!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I went with the "what would I wear with a Tiara in April" approach, and I'm in a dab of vintage Jean Patou Joy.
Reminder: on 4/23, wear one of your "top 10 of spring" fragrances (unless it's fall where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of fall" scents)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Robin, you smell gorgeous! Vintage Joy is such a diamonds-and-platinum sort of scent: it smells like the height of refined luxury.
I’m wearing probably the cleanest scent I own, 90s-era White Linen: sudsy white bar soap, pallid roses, brilliant light-green vetiver. It might just be the most perfectly named scent there ever was: you can smell the freshly laundered linens snapping in the breeze. It makes me want to scrub something.
Omg scent twin! Yayy
I love older formulations of White Linen. I get a lot of LOV when I wear it. Great choice!
Ohhh, gorgeous! I get LOV and lilacs when I wear vintage White Linen.
You know, it smells like the maid will be here any minute 🙂
😀
Good one, Robin!!
What a great choice.
My great aunt Margie wore White Linen, had a wonderfully complex 60’s style updo and was a wonderful cook. You smell great.
I agree. I ❤️ White Linen, a favorite of mine in summer and one I wear every Fourth of July. Great choice!
Triplets! You smell great!
I am going to wait for my Ashoka today as it is supposed to be delivered today:) also my mini bottles of Aoud Rose by Micallef are going to be delivered today. So after I make myself take a shower (it is finally a slllooow morning for me today) I’m leaving my skin unscented so that way I can try both Ashoka and Aoud Rose as they were purchased unsniffed (as usual with me) LOL
Hope those packages show up on time!
So here goes “hope packages show up on time” as one was “missent” to a postal unit 30 miles away from where I live and even though tracking still says Apr. 16 – I doubt it will get here today
I love Ashoka! Enjoy!
Thank You – I am becoming unpatient right now LOL it is too bad we get mail here in the evening and not the morning…
Yay for packages containing perfume! 🙂
Yes, yay – it is 5:45pm in FL right now and Ashoka should be here this evening (forreal our mail truck arrives in our neighborhood always late) BUT my minis of Aoud Rose might not be here today yet… I checked the tracking one more time and it was “missent” about 30 miles from where I live…
I’m wearing Ashoka right now. You smell awesome!
Oh You are? Great!!
The other day I had to go to the courthouse (and in person too!!) Because i filed an injunction (which was granted, now I feel very safe) so I went shopping beforehand. I bought navy pants and a white button-up sheer white shirt with little, but elegant honey bees on it. It looked classy, but bright and summery on me – I was going to wear Tango because it is the finest, most genuine smelling perfume I own. But with the yellow bees I decided the last minute on wearing D&G Light Blue “Sun” limited edition. It smelled just perfect: dreamy, breezy and summery. It was perfect!!
Scent siblings! I went D&G’s Italian Zest, as it it lemony fresh.
Would love to try Italian Zest. I think that some of the D&G fragrances just smell so clean and “NICE” very nice to wear!! Now lemme google Italian Zest:))
That outfit sounds great! I like the idea of the little bees.
Thanks – I love little bees. One of my most favorite perfume house is the legendary Guerlain and one day I hope to own one of their $$$ gold bees flacon with a nice frag in it!! Also I bought myself a face wash the other day with cute little bees all over the tube. It has a soft honey scent in it. Basically lil’ bees are so cute and summery:)
All those bees, surrounding and protecting their queen. I love it.
Awww You made it sound so nice, I LOV Your comment:))
Tgif!! Today is also laundry day so I am in the motivational EL’s White Linen. I smell fresh and crisp and ready! It’s also nice and sunny so I am happy.
Drinking jasmine green tea and a vanilla macaroon (dessert for breakfast because..why not?)
“Motivational” is just how I feel about White Linen, twin.
Why not, indeed? A vanilla macaron and a cup of jasmine tea sounds like the perfect breakfast combination.
Mmm vanilla.
I ❤️ your choice!
Green jasmine tea makes my mouth water, I gotta get some soon but I might want to order “the good kind” online as my local grocery store has more generic kind of choices…
White linen as a motivation to do some laundry – I love the idea!!
Happy Friday, all.
I got my 6 month project bonus YAY already stashed in savings account.
Bittersweet day, my beloved dad gone 14 years. Feels like just a few minutes. I can see, hear and smell his love of colognes so clearly.
An Aramis man, plus Devin.
Can anyone give me the lowdown on escentric molecules 1 plus patchouli?
SOTD will be eucerin I have some itchies.
Oh nice, so glad you got a decent bonus!
But of course, you have my sympathies, that’s really hard.
yes money good!!
and my memories of my dad, very good!!
🙂
Oh I loved Devin on a longtime lover I had… A d congrats on the bonus!
Devin was great.
YAY for bonus and scented memories.
Your father had great taste.
Happy you got a bonus, well deserved I’m sure.
Big hugs as you remember your dad… I am curious about that patchouli too. Also curious about the iris and mandarin ones…curious about everything really…?
and never lose that curiosity!
Sweet scent memories, thank you for sharing. ?
Bittersweet, indeed; lovely that your memories of your dad are still vivid. Hugs.
I’m wearing my tiara for today’s cp as well. I chose Opardu to compliment my flashy accessory.
Ugh, we’re getting socked in with snow today/tonight, 3-5 inches. Plus my employer lost power. Ugh…
Happy Friday All!
Ugh to the snow and lost power!
Hopefully it will be the last of it for awhile.
I know!
Oh, boo hiss to snow!
I appreciate your commiseration. ?❄
Wow. April snow seems really insulting!
Right…
Keep warm, hope it’s the last snow of the season.
Even the weather people predicted this storm badly. They were still saying no snow as I was slipping and sliding on my way into work.
Boo for snow but it is still Friday!
Friday’s are the best day of the week!
Oh, yuck to the snow. (You may want to skip my post.)
I’m glad that everything is lovely in your area and that you were able to have some fun!
In solidarity with SarahN yesterday, I am wearing Encre Noir. Again this is a full bottle purchase, I’ve had it for some time, but rarely wear it. I put it on this morning and I remember how much I like it now. I’ll have to reach for it more often. I really love anything with vetiver.
Encre Noire!
PriscillaE, have you tried Encre Noire à l’Extrême? It’s a little warmer than the original, and maybe a little fiercer. Lemme know if you need a decant; I’ve got a big bottle over here that I am nevah-evah-evah going to get through.
Same as you, I have a bottle but rarely wear it. Forgot how good it is! And a little goes a long way, so this bottle will last me forever.
I don’t have any particular fragrance to do house chores. I always wear whatever I am in the mood for, regardless.
I am in L’Artisan Couleur Vanille for the second day in a row, thanks to Hajusuuri split. I LOVE the salty opening and the fact that it is not so gourmand. I am not a big fan of vanilla and I can only wear vanilla scents that are light and comfy. This is perfect for me!
This has been a very busy week, with barely time to breathe. I am having my second cup of coffee and counting the hours for the day to be over. Back to read comments later.
Happy Friday, everyone! ?
Hang in there P67!
How’s the cute pup? There’s a cute fluffy Pom in our new neighborhood. She’s delightful.
The day is almost over!
Thanks for asking about my doggie. He is kind of stable now. Crossing fingers he stays like that for a while.
I’m so glad to hear he’s stable. 😀 that’s good news!
I hope your weekend is looooooonnnnngggg and relaxing.
Thank you! ?
Have a restful and wonderful weekend!
Thank you, She-ra! I hope you have a nice weekend too! ?
I am going with “I am going to drink tea instead of doing spring cleaning” approach. Maybe I can borrow your tiara Robin?
SOTD Neroli Outrenoir
Sampling my birthday tea samples, these notes from the website assam tea, nutmeg, serbian plum, lemon peel, clove, mallow flower, flavoring
Taste: bitter orange zest, neroli flower, tart black plum, blackberry, clove
Feels like: sparkling conversation on a city terrace
Oh, but of course you can borrow my (imaginary) tiara!
I actually have a tiara. A friend made me a cool, wire-wrapped bead tiara for my birthday several years ago, and now I wear it for every birthday celebration.
When we still had group gatherings, I was part of a bunco group in which whomever got the most recent bunco got to wear a tiara. At the end of the games, whomever was wearing the tiara got a bonus gift!
I used to be part of a bunco group, waaaay back in the day. It was so fun!
Good approach!
SOTD is Oyedo because it is such a bright sparkling citrus, and that is how I think of a clean house (although of my hodgepodge of method cleaning products, only one or two are citrus scented). I had some faint Coco EDP lingering from last night, and the two blended better than I expected.
Drinking Clippership’s Golden Monkey tea again. It has a honey aroma that I love, and is especially nice with Oyedo.
Well I am surprised those 2 work together too!
So was I! My thought process was “I’m not going anywhere today, so why not?” The Coco was very faint at that point tho. I don’t think I’d wet layer them. 🙂
Switched to a sample of Elie Saab Girl of Now once the Oyedo was gone. I really wanted to like GoN bc that bottle is just gorgeous. No such luck on the juice tho. I get a synthetic almost-but-not-quite almond and not much else. And if I’m honest, it gives me a bit of a headache. Reading the notes, I thought it would be great bc I love almond tea, but oh well. Maybe I’ll try to find an empty bottle on ebay to put on display.
I went with “aspirational” as in “anticipating what the result will hopefully be when the spring cleaning is done”, which, I suppose, in yesterday’s taxonomy of options might be categorized as a subsection of “motivational”.
Anyway, with the idea in mind that leaving all the stuffiness and clutter behind will result (at least metaphorically) in being able to breathe more freely, I opted for Chanel’s Bel Respiro.
I don’t hear much about Bel Respiro, but I got to try it when Kanuka passed on a sample, and it’s lovely.
Yum, you smell great.
No cleaning for me today (though, I would rather do that then be preparing to the weekly meeting with my manager), but after work I plan to go grocery shopping (we’re still doing it once every two weeks). So, for doing all these chores I will be wearing Puredistance Antonia, a gorgeous green bewitching scent.
A week after the first shot. I didn’t have any side effects besides a bad shoulder pain that prevented me from sleeping on that side for 4 nights (which, in turn, brought on some of my chronic back issues). But I don’t think it was because of vaccine itself but rather an unfortunate injection spot/technique (I got, as I was told, an unusual bleeding). Whatever it was, I’m better now.
Happy Friday to all!
Glad you feel better, and that you are on your way to being fully vaccinated!
Thank you Lisa.
Weekly manager meetings seems like a lot to me! You must be very important. 😉
Glad you’re feeling better and sleeping again.
Nah 🙂 I think my manager is just bored. Or maybe he thinks that it’s a good way to support the moral in troops. Usually I don’t mind, but there are weeks when I don’t have much “news” to entertain him for 45 minutes – that’s when I start preparing.
Glad you’re better and halfway there!
Thanks Laila.
Sorry to hear about your painful shot, Undina! I’m prone to some level of injection site soreness (as evidenced by my annual flu shot), but the skill/technique of the person giving the shot definitely plays a role. When you go for your next round, make sure your arm is *completely* relaxed—let it literally hang down at your side if possible. And then really use that arm as much as you can the rest of the day. (And if you can avoid sleeping it for at least the first night, that should really help too.) ?
Thank you for the advice (though, I hope you meant that I shouldn’t sleep on the side of the injection and not in general, otherwise I’m afraid it’ll create a considerable side effect on its own 🙂 ).
*on it ??♀️?
Glad you’re feeling better now. The girl who did my first shot hit a nerve. I was worried there would be lingering damage but there wasn’t. When I went for the second it was the same girl! I was really nervous but I didn’t even feel the second one. It really does all come down to technique.
I hope it was just an accident and it goes smoothly the next time.
Good morning all – I have a variety of ‘clean’ scents in my wardrobe, I chose vintage Estee by Estée Lauder. Loads of fizzy Aldehydes, spice, and white flowers. It’s not mentioned in the notes, but I smell lilac or hyacinth in this.
This afternoon, I’ll apply Alessandro Dell’ Acqua by Alessandro Dell’ Acqua, another spicy, fizzy, white floral. 🙂
I was a little down in the dumps and rectified that by working out, doing lots of cardio really helped clear out the cobwebs.
I’m reading A Bend in The Stars, by Rachel Barenbaum – it’s deliciously good.
Adding your book to my list
Still working my way through the Sarah Maas series that I am reading out of order.
Sorry about your low mood…at least you know your antidote which many people these days can’t find even that…
Thanks LTSG. Reading and endorphins from exercise really are mood-lifters! I discovered eating copious amounts of inappropriate carbs has it’s downside! I can’t do that often! 😀
Everyone has something that gives them joy and relaxes them. I’ve tried crafts like knitting and quickly discovered they are not for me.
I forgot, did you read the shadow & bone book series? Netflix is releasing the series in a week and I am nervous that I am going to hate it! HA!
Ohh, thanks so much for reminding me! I remember you mentioning them and true to my Gemini nature, I was intrigued and then promptly forgot! ? ?
These look fantastic, I added them to my ‘read’ list on SFPL.
Did you read the Six of Crows series?
I did read six of crows. I think the series is a mix of the two.
They are very “young adult” but I enjoyed them.
I’m in VC&A Moonlight Patchouli because it’s a duszy fragrance in my opinion, ha ?
Very clever way to do the CP!
Of course I meant to say dusty
Ohh, that is one gorgeous patchouli, and genius counterpart to the CP!
Thank you! I chose it this morning thinking it doesn’t fit the CP but I found a way around it ?
House twin!
Sotd is Eau Dynamisante because it’s fresh and dynamic – a good Spring cleaning combo!
Since ED is so short lived, I turned to Kerbside Violet. What a great fragrance. I’m so grateful for the Violet CP, otherwise I wouldn’t have know about this treasure.
I am chuckling because of the reference to ED and the commercials with that as the subject ?
My mind went there also. ? ?
I’m even funnier than I thought 🙂
?
I’ve been wearing a lot of No. 5 in various formulations lately. Definitely a “fancy soap” scent, so that seems fitting for the CP.
I have been placed on unpaid medical leave for the remainder of the school year. I’ve talked here before about my health challenges, and it is not advised that I teach in-person at this time. I had requested that I work from home, teach my kids in the morning and then do study groups for kids who weren’t going back to hybrid in the afternoons, but the district says NO.
I’m mad about it for me, and sad about it for my kids. We’ve built some really great communities in my online classes this year! I had lots of crying kids this week when I told them. It sucked. I know they’ll be fine, but it’s been such a hard year already.
Anyway, I’m guessing that means you all will see more of me again! Gotta continue staying close to home. I need to figure out what my other hobbies are. . .
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about this loss for your students and the frustration for you! It’s annoying that the district couldn’t bring themselves to be more flexible, given the situation.
I hope the break will help with your health though.
Thank you! I’m appreciative that I have enough privilege to remain safe at home. It’s gonna be lonely without the kids, though! So, NST will have to fill some of the gap. 😀
I am so sorry. I’m glad that you will have some time to rest but how frustrating that your district has not been supportive. And yes, the kids lose.
Sending fragrant wishes for healing!
Thanks, skalolazka! Rest does sound nice. 😀
Would the district allow you to do volunteer tutoring via zoom during your leave? I would guess there are a few of your kids who might benefit from that, and it would give you things to do. Or there’s always gardening. ?
Yes, I think I will be doing more gardening this year. Last year the nurseries were closed for so much of the spring, I didn’t really put anything significant into the ground, and we still have lots of boring yard to spruce up.
That’s an unfortunate situation. I bet you will find new interests.
Maybe it’s time I try sourdough. ?
It sounds like your district is not conforming to ADA accommodations ?. You have provided them with what appears to be a reasonable approach but there’s probably something else going on in the background. For crying out loud, where are the billions being (or not) spent for COVID relief associated with education?
You ask very good and reasonable questions, and a lawyer I know agrees with you. I am looking into filing an ADA complaint.
I am going to second looking into an ADA complaint. If this is PPS or BSD, they are really on the edge here.
I’m so sorry about the district’s decision, and second Hajusuuri’s thoughts. I bet your students will really miss you.
Thank you, SmokeyToes! I know I’ll miss the kids, too!
Sorry to hear and agree w/ hajusuuri…hope an accommodation is made.
Terribly sorry, Marjorie Rose. I completely empathize, as my school did the exact same thing to me.
Ugh. I’m so sorry, AnniePerfumes!
I’m sorry for your situation, but the bottom line is you’ll be safe and that’s what’s most important and, hopefully, you’ll be able to re-engage with those students when this is over. This has also been a sticking point with the teachers’ union and the Chicago Public School system, as teachers who request accommodations for health issues have difficulty obtaining them.
I’m sorry to hear, that seems a very strange decision to make for the children you’ve been teaching, and for you. I hope there is some way to get this changed.
It’s a shame we have to threaten law suits, but I do know that a teacher in my district who was initially denied the option to teach from home was eventually granted it after pressing the legal issue. Worth a shot?
Regardless, kudos to you for clearly making virtual learning work! Lucky kids!
Sorry Marjorie Rose. We will be happy to see you more, of course!
A) You smell fabulous!
B) I triple/quadruple/etc. hajusuuri’s complaint suggestion. …Is there a relevant teachers’ union agreement with the district?
Everyone else has given good advice. I just want to add my frustration – that’s awful, especially since you had provided a good, safe proposal for a work-around! Big hugs to you.
That’s terrible! I’m sorry they said no, and I hope they’ll see the error of their ways.
Hey, has anyone seen my decant of Grandiflora Queen of the Night? I can’t find it anywhere. Obviously, I can’t clean my house now. I guess I will just sit around waiting to go to work tonight while wearing Mugler Cuir Impertinent.
Happy Friday!?
In my experience, you will find your decant about 5 minutes after you give in and spray something else.
This. Even sooner if one sprays a really long-lived alternative.
You two just made me LOL!
I remember you had found a missing bottle in your car.?
Lol! Yes, but I already looked there. I recently did some reorganization… so it could be awhile before I find it!
In the immortal words of Inigo Montoya – “I don’ thin that word mins wad you thin it mins” ⚔️ ? ⛵️ ?
??
Well, obviously, you can’t be expected to clean house without it!?
I’m in Iris Torrefie today, because it was mentioned several times yesterday.
No CP for me, and I also have all the excuses to not clean today! ? Too much actual work work, plus I have to start packing. We’re driving to my parents tomorrow, to stay the week for my son’s school break.
I wore that yesterday. What do you think of it.
House twins!
Yes, your wearing of it yesterday made me want to wear it today. I like it a lot!! It’s not very strong, but I find it lasts decently on my skin, and a lot longer on clothes or when sprayed on a blotter.
I’m trying to decide if I should make a little decant to take with me on my trip, or if I should just grab some samples from my giant mound of samples!
Good luck w/ packing…I had too much work work this week too. I need to break out my decant of Iris Torrefie again.
I have no real perfume that I wear for cleaning the house, just whatever I wore the night before. Woke up in Infusion d’Iris this morning. It’s not something I wear too often but back in no 5 edp. After today, I have 2 days off to just relax.
Weekend is almost here!
Happy Friday fragranced friends!
My bestie sent me a sample box from EldO as a surprise which arrived yesterday! I am so thrilled.
For CP points I sampled some of their citrus offerings:
Remarkable People on my right hand – more aptly Remarkable Top Notes, as that fizzy champagne grapefruit opening is very distinct and well done, and then the entire fragrance immediately fades to a washed-out sandalwood. I also am very meh on aldehydes so the resulting half-hour of itchy nose for experiencing those top notes isn’t personally a good trade off.
EldO Cologne on my left hand – a lovely but certainly not earth-shattering riff on 4711 and also rapidly went down to a skin scent.
Then I went ahead and put on some Vanille Insensée.
Just had lunch (hummus with celery sticks, and a slice of toasted and buttered pumpkin Parmesan quick bread) and hopefully can get done some paperwork this afternoon.
Yesterday my brain was really experiencing the pandemic fog that occasionally comes with lockdown Limbo, so I walked 15km instead of tackling my desk work.
That’s a solid walk–good for you! I agree, sample boxes are so much fun.
Fizzy champagne grapefruit sounds delightful! I have some hummus in the fridge but have leftover rice and dal lentils that I need to finish up before it goes to the ‘dark side’.
Nice walk! Good for you!
I would kill to go on a 15km walk right about now. 9 more days of confinement.
9 more days?! I thought you were half done by now. Hang in there! Can you find something to binge watch? This is bringing back memories of 18 hour flights to Asia.
Yay for perfume packages, your long walk and tasty lunch!
I really like Remarkable People – on me, the dry down is curry and sandalwood and it’s lovely.
Oh, I wish I got that! That sounds gorgeous. Maybe the aldehydes made me nose blind for a little bit, I very rarely wear perfumes with them as they tend to make me sneeze tons.
Thinking about unearthing my “tiara” (actually a pearl panache thing I wore in my hair for my wedding instead of a veil) to join you all in elegant cleaning (or non-cleaning, as the case may be). I’ll spritz on a bit of Paris-Deauville for its barbershop-soap aura. Happy Friday everyone!
You smell great…might wear Deauville this weekend!
It’s soooo goooood!
I am wearing TDC Bois d’Iris, which is more of a “cleaning is done, time to curl up with a book and a blankie” scent to me. It’s chilly and rainy here, and I will be heading to campus later to moderate a session in our end-of-year event where seniors present their work, so I am a little dressed up. I would apply lucasai’s description of his SoTD to mine, as well — it’s a bit dusty.
I find that one peppery as well – do you?
Yes! Kind of powdery pepper. (The powderiness is the element that makes it “dusty” to me.)
Ooh, you smell great!
Wearing Love Extreme today (thanks to a kind NSTer) which is tangy, with a much greener rose accentuated by pomegranate than I expected, and a love.?
Happy Friday all! It has been a tough week work and family-wise. My sister had been having stomach pain and had an ultrasound, MRI and then an endoscopy w/ biopsy for a lesion found on her pancreas…haven’t gotten biopsy results yet but doctor says it is precancerous and my sister will most likely need a whipple procedure to remove part of the pancreas and resect. I had googled quite a bit when the lesion was found and this isn’t a surprise but still hits very hard.
My mom passed away a little over two years ago from pancreatic cancer. My sister is young and otherwise healthy and will be a good candidate for surgery. Very luck she had pain and symptoms so it was caught early. Please hug your family and let them know you love them.
You smell wonderful and best wishes for your sister. I’m glad they caught it. Hugs for you, too!
Oh gosh. Yes, strange to be thankful for pain but sounds like it was a good thing for your sister.
You smell lovely!
Very lucky indeed it was caught early–wishing all the best for her, and you.
You smell really great but I’m sorry about your sister’s diagnosis but glad there’s a possible solution albeit one that rearranges the organs in her abdomen.
Hoping everything will go well with your sister’s treatment.
((She-Ra)), I’m so sorry for your sister’s diagnosis and am glad they caught it early. A resection sounds prudent, will they follow up with chemo or is it too soon to tell?
When she goes to the hospital, an overnight bag with ear plugs (hospitals and room mates are noisy), hand cream, deodorant, dry shampoo, and wet wipes so she can freshen up are always a good plan.
I hope I’m not being too forward in offering unsolicited advice, but I’m frequently in the hospital. Having a few comforts from home really goes a long way to getting rest, which will really help recovery.
Wishing her a pain-free and complete recovery.
I got my father noise canceling headphones for during the day. I’d bring her toothpaste tablets and facial wipes, too.
Hi SmokeyToes, I appreciate the advice…not sure if they will do any other treatment. It will take a few more days for cytology and pathology to come back.
And the list for the hospital is very helpful too. I stayed over one night post car accident in December and was amazed at all the noises during the night. Thanks for the list of things to bring.
I’m so glad it’s helpful, and wishing her all the best and a speedy and complete recovery! ((HUGS))
You smell great! Sending healing vibes to your sister.
Sending good vibes and prayers for healing to your sister She-ra!
So sorry to hear about your sister’s news, but really glad she listened to her body (or her body was so good to tell her) and it’s been caught early. Best of luck to her, and hugs to your family!
*virtual hugs to you and your sister*
The whipple procedure is….not bad, but it will take a LOT of time for recovery. I know a couple of acquaintances that have had this done, and they did recover to full lives.
Sorry for the loss of your mother. Two years is a blink of an eye. Best wishes for your sister and to you. She’s lucky to have you.
hugs!!!
Good luck to your sister..I will keep her in my thoughts
Sending healing thoughts and a big hug your way. ?
Best wishes for your sister.
Wishing your sister a successful procedure and speedy recovery!
The best healing wishes for your sister!
So sorry to read this She-ra. Wishing your sister the best of luck. Hugs
Big hugs to you, She-ra. And best wishes/healing vibes/prayers for your sister.
Sending massive healing vibes to your sister and biggest hugs to you.
So hard She-ra. I am wishing you and your sister the absolute best.
Oh She-ra, I am so sorry. Sending healing thoughts to your sister and hugs to you.
Adding my healing thoughts 🙂
Aw, that stinks. I’m glad they caught it early though. Best wishes to you both.
Adding hope for full recovery and I am glad your sister followed through when she did not feel well.
She-ra, this is such tough news; we’re hugging you and your sister right back! Praying for strength, fortitude, and full recovery —
Sending healing thoughts to your sister and a hug to you.
Chanel No. 5 L’Eau for elegant spring cleaning. Sooooo glad it’s Friday. Didn’t sleep well at all last night (sometimes I think I sleep well only every other night–yikes).
In other news, our new inflatable kayak arrived yesterday. I think it will be loads of fun once we figure out putting everything together.
Kayaking sounds fun (said wistfully, in 40s here). Hope you sleep like a log tonight.
That will be fun! Can’t wait to get out on the water here as well.
We’ve looked into getting one of those since your tandem is so heavy. Do you have favorite put-ins around here? Have you tried the 32nd Ave. W. Boat Launch in Magnolia?
“our”
Allo , I just saw this. We live in Ballard pretty close to Shilshole marina. We’ll probably try that beach near the Elks Club. Right now, we are having a little trouble inflating it correctly.
I chose Salome for a glamorous take on cleaning and hope a maid will pop up to do it for me. Otherwise I will pretend it’s clean and remove my glasses.
I had a long week at work and want to relax, don’t mind a bit of dirt on the floors….
You smell fantastic—definitely a glamorous take! Hey, if you can’t see it, it’s not there—take those glasses off!?
I’m also expecting the cleaners to show up since I’ll be at the beach today. Wearing Bronze Goddess body creme and eau fraiche to whisk me there.
Happy Friday everyone!
The beach! Enjoy it, you smell great.
You smell marvelous! Enjoy the beach! Don’t forget the SPF! 😉
Wearing Rosa Nobile today, reminds me strongly of a perfume I wore in the 90s when i was a teen, but I can’t remember what it was. Could have also been when i was younger than that, i had a couple random kid perfumes and the rose and almond is hittin gmy memory buttons.
Enjoy your housework – just washed a new set of sheets and am looking forward to testing them out!
Ooh yes, clean sheets always feel so good!
I went literal with Clean Reserve Acqua Neroli which someone on Fragrantica compared to Windex; I would clean my windows more if it really smelled like this.
Lol! I haven’t tried that one yet. I’m getting pretty interested in this brand all of a sudden.
Me too, the reserve line has several really nice ones + I appreciate their ethical approach.
I think it smells a lot like Neroli Portofino, at a fraction of the price and with better lasting power. I bought my sister a travel spray last summer, and she wore it often.
It’s a good option for sure, what a good sister you are.
Lol.?
Glad it made you laugh.
We got a hand disinfectabt at work, that smells strongly of glass cleaner…
Sometimes hand sanitizers have a very generic smell.
Nice sunny day, sat outside with the dog for a while. Wearing SSS Pacific Forest, as I felt it was appropriate to my location. Very minimal cleaning since I’m in a 1BR flat.
You smell great. At least you’re not in a hotel. Are you able to order take out and/or meal preparation provisions on your own directly with the provider?
As I contemplate cleaning my 3 bedroom house, I often wistfully think of my tiny one bedroom apartment in California. It took no time to make spotless. (And was a 10 minute drive from the beach.). Sigh.
Hey y’all…and Happy FriYAY!!!!
This might be the easiest Friday challenge yet. When I’m home cleaning, ANYTHING goes for fragrance! I might test a new sample, try out a new find from TJ Maxx, or wear my fanciest scent while scrubbing the toilet.
Today I’m sporting Burberry Weekend….perfect for a warm spring day. Tomorrow and Sunday when I’m home doing yardwork and dishes and laundry, who knows what I might wear? 🙂
SOTD = April Aromatics Calling All Angels
I went literal and this is perfect for doing household chores ?
I actually started the day with Atelier Cologne ? ? and it became a skin scent in about 2 hours and faded away in 5. It’s lightly salty lemon and a barely there vanilla. There’s supposed to be jasmine but I am anosmic to some jasmine as in whatever is in this one. While wearable, I was hoping for a zestier lemon and a more present vanilla, so overall, it was quite disappointing.
Your second fragrance is beautiful! Can’t win them all.
Thank you and you are right about not winning them all!
I feel the same about lemon island. I wish the lemon was stronger and stayed around longer. I plan on trying it again on a really hot day, maybe that will change things.
Happy Friday!
1) It’s my birthday, so I took the day off for actual Spring Cleaning! Lots of laundry – switching up of sheets, curtains and bed covers, deep cleaning the bathrooms (the ground floor powder room was taken apart and redone; it’s about 80%). I started at 7: 30 am today and am just about done. I will plant a couple of new rose bushes- a white rose John F Kennedy) and another red rose tomorrow.
2) I have been in Pink Cashmere body cream I wore after showering last night- nice, soft and cosy without being intrusive. But after putting up the curtains, I am putting on Joy EDT to go window shopping. What a joy to have a home to spring clean.
What a joy to see another birthday and another spring.
Ooh! Happy birthday! And enjoy your freshened-up home! When I was a single person, I would clean house and then spray the rooms with abandon with some perfume I liked that seemed “fresh” or “clean” to me–often Guerlain Vetiver or B. Paris. Now, I’m not certain how my hubby would feel if I wandered through the house spritzing away. . . it’s not something I’ve tested out!
Double-yay for the new roses! I never regret planting more roses. 😀 And we will have such lovely weather for being outside this week.
Oh that sounds lovely! I have the Meyer’s cleaners which are beautifully fragranced, and if you dissolve them in hot water, they make the whole house smell amazing.
Happy Birthday!
Oh thank you! ?
Happy birthday! Enjoy your spruced up home! You smell wonderful.
Happy birthday and enjoy some well-deserved rest this weekend!
Thank you- and yes, after Rose’s tomorrow am definitely gonna sunbathe in the garden!
Happy birthday! and happy Friday!
Many happy returns.
Wishing you all the Joys of a beautiful birthday ?and a happy and healthy year ahead. ? ? ?
This is so lovely. Thank you!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! ?
Happy birthday Eddie! Congrats on a productive day!
Happy Birthday!!
You smell beautiful in Joy. And Happy Birthday!!?
Happy birthday! I hope the coming year brings you joy, health and adventure.
Happy Birthday!?
Happy Birthday Ede!
Happy Birthday! Wow, you got a lot done today!
Seriously, that is a productive birthday! Hope you did get some relaxation in there too 🙂
Happy birthday wishes and a shout-out for Pink Cashmere. Someone gave me the travel bottle of the hand cream and I used it to the last drop. But I had forgotten until you mentioned it again. Wish we could have roses, but we have too many deer.
BBW have really nice fragrances and the body products are really good! And deer are a menace to roses- it’s like candy to them or something.
(Late) Happy Birthday wishes to you, Ede! You’ve been super-industrious; now I hope you relax and enjoy the weekend.
Thank you!? and yes- am currently sunning myself and having an iced coffee!
Glad you had a nice birthday yesterday, and it must feel good going into the weekend and already accomplishing so much.
Hi there! And it feels great to have the house tidied up and clean, to have the windows open and just chill out.
I don’t really think about perfume while I’m cleaning, because the cleaning chemicals end up drowning it out anyway, so I’m going for clean as a genre instead with Carven Le Parfum. It’s not soapy to me, but it’s light and totally inoffensive.
Struggling with the moving service today, they’re saying they don’t have a trailer for us, so we are 10 days out and seeking other options. Not what I wanted to do today!
Oh no, hope you found somebody to help!
Found someplace that will take longer and cost more…not ideal but better than getting rid of all our stuff, I guess. ??
Oh boo, but yes it is better than nothing.
I’m not home so I can’t wear my cleaning tiara (I have one, they are easy to find around prom time or Halloween). It’s too hot to wear Angels Share but I will be doing some sniffing later and I’ll spritz an appropriate SOTD then. Happy Friday, everyone!
Green is the color of my week: Driving around town, the trees have all leafed out and the grass is greener. The green is punctuated by bright bursts of color as cooler temps have helped all blooming shrubs: the yellow forsythia are still going strong but have been joined by the beautiful white blossoms on an abundance of Bradford pear trees, the deep pink of the redbud trees, and the purple blossoms of the rhododendrons. Breathtaking!
Green is also my favorite scent note for Spring and any one in my collection would suit today’s cp, but I chose Balmain Vent Vert (the 1990’s version) with its aggressive galbanum ❤️ note. Not liking to clean very much, I visualize a great Green Wind whirling through my home, leaving everything in its wake fresh and sparkling clean. A girl can dream!
Yesterday was my first full day of Covid immunity (2 weeks + 1 day post 2nd vaccine) and I celebrated! The last event of any kind I went to more than a year ago, as things were beginning to fall apart, was a small concert featuring my favorite local musician, a cellist. Born in Russia, he’s lived in the U.S. for 30 years, the past dozen in Chicago, which he uses as a base to travel the world to often obscure locations, learning the music of the native population and then bringing it back to us, as well as writing his original compositions. He just returned last week, having spent much of the past year in Russia because they allowed live performances. He had a small, intimate concert last night nearby (masked, socially-distant rules applied), and although it was with some trepidation I dipped my toe in the waters of normalcy in attending, it did me a world of good. He was fantastic; I got to chat with him both before and after and, best of all, I got 3 hugs (both of us vaccinated) from him, my first hugs from a non-family member in over a year. I feel healed!
Wishing everyone a beautiful weekend ahead!
I’m glad your first event was so enjoyable, it’s lovely to read such a positive story.
Thank you. It certainly had a positive effect on me!
That sounds like it was a wonderful welcome back into the world!
Oh, it was! Kinda scary at first to be amongst even a small group of people but the music soon calmed me and made it worthwhile.
Oh wow, that sounds so lovely!!!
It was! I was front and center in the second row, so when I close my eyes I can be right back there.
Congrats on your 2 weeks, Laila!!
More things are leafing out here, and some are blooming—like the adorable little white fuzz-ball fruit on creosotes. More to the point, the mesquites are starting to bloom, as evidenced by two mornings already of sneeze-attacks.?
And congrats on being halfway done! Think I’ll wear Dame’s Monsoon tomorrow for a trip to the desert . . .
I wore Monsoon on Wednesday for exactly that reason!
It’s supermarket shopping today, and Sunday morning is time for housework in my household. I often think of 24 Faubourg for cleaning activities, it’s rich and luxurious with enough oomph to compete, so that will be the choice for tomorrow.
Post shower today, I’ll wear Cabochard. My old bottle is nearly empty, so I just bought a BUB and I’m keen to compare them. I definitely now have a lifetime supply, my 30ml bottle lasted me at least 25 years, the BUB is 100mls!
Both of those are excellent choices!
Robin, you smell fabulous!
My CP SOTD is EL White Linen. Crisp aldehyde goodness! And I actually am doing some cleaning today, so this is pretty literal–I did it, like, for science. 🙂
I’m over halfway done brewing up my COVID antibodies and looking forward to being fully-cooked in a few days. Perhaps I need to mark the occasion, when it comes, with a fragrance purchase…?
Have yourselves a great weekend!
Yes, it is a real reason to celebrate!
Oh, alright, you twisted my arm.??
I have been celebrating all year (last and this) ?.
? Girl, it’s all good.??
Don’t forget to tell us what you get! Congratulations!
But of course! I’ve had my eye on a little somethin’-somethin’, so I think I’ll see if I can find a deal and snag it somewhere….
I’m in the work friendly Diptyque Fleur de Peau. Haven’t worn this one in awhile.
It’s been dreary all week, but today the sun is out and there is not a cloud in the sky. Just in time for the weekend.?
I graduate one month from today.? I’m starting to feel a little stressed and anxious. Taking deep breaths and reminding myself that I’ve made it this far. I’ve come home from work every night this week and worked on school stuff. Tonight I am gonna take a breather and enjoy a cold, adult beverage. Happy FriYay!
You are so close to the finish line – you’ve got this! All of the hard work is about to be rewarded.
And you smell absolutely amazing!!!
Thanks sistine!?
This is so exciting! Go you!?
Oohh.. I’m going to have to think of a song!
Lol, thanks lillyjo. Yes, think of a song!??
Here’s the first one.
https://youtu.be/9jK-NcRmVcw
I went with the obvious, lol.
Awesome.?
Congrats on being almost done and get ready to celebrate yourself! It took me 10 years to finish college, one course each semester but no summers, while I worked FT and PT and raised my son. When he was a sophomore in HS, I realized if I took one class each of the next two summers in addition to the fall and spring semesters, we could graduate together. I did, and we did, and it was the proudest moment in my life. We had a mutual graduation party I’ll never forget. So just hang in a bit longer and then celebrate all you’ve accomplished! ? ? ? You deserve it!
That’s awesome!
Thanks Laila! I love that you graduated with your son, that is so cool!
You’re so, so close; just hang in a little longer! Any ideas about what perfume you’ll get to celebrate your graduation?
Thanks! That is a good question…..I’m not sure yet. ?
Well, the other evening I was just surfing the net for perfumes etc. Something I do quite often and occasionally it results with me purchasing unsniffed perfumes. I came across “Aoud Lemon Mint” the perfume house is Mancera – did not try anything from their line yet. But as soon as I read aoud lemon mint – my soul screamed: “this is for me!!”. First of all I cannot walk past anything lemon-mint without my head turning, secondly the aoud note sounds like it would add the perfect depth to the fragrance. If I continue just thinking about this one I’m gonna click n’ buy without sampling first…
Lemon mint is a great combo.
Are there samples/ decants available anywhere?
Go to tltg reviews on YouTube, I think he has a review of it. If I remember correctly, it might lean masculine.
I woke up in a super cranky mood, so I put on a tie-dyed sweater and California Reverie to force my head into a better place. And it worked! Still refusing to participate in the CP however. La La La, no cleaning needed around here…
Yay for a good mood-altering strategy! I joined you in a sit-out on the whole cleaning thing yesterday. 🙂
My Ashoka just arrived!! Wow, wowza!! Now why I thought I would appreciate it? Long list of, high-quality notes plus well watery, mily, figgy… I can’t resist a fig and especially with the description that they give You of Ashoka… But all I can say is I scored sooo highly!! I knew I would like a good perfume, but this is so true about this one: it is kind of fresh-watery but not really because it is also spicy with a very oriental note that screams color “purple” to me!! And I love perfumes that I assosiate with a “purpleish oriental” note. I fell very, very deeply in love at first spritz!!!! So happy I got this one.
I also requested my samples to contain a lavender note in it and I got 4, all of them I have been reading about. Lavender (and fresh roses too) are my most favorite florals:))
Perfumed high five! And here’s hope that it is one that will last all day.
I’m a big fan of Ashoka; so glad you love it. And ooh, please report on the lavender samples!
So glad it’s Friday, even though I have to work part of this weekend! I’m a terrible housekeeper and finally hired a cleaning lady a few years ago to come once a month, and she’s fantastic. I still have to pick up before she comes so she can actually clean, but it makes such a difference to my mood. Today I’m wearing Yves Rocher Naturelle from an old mini, which is an inoffensive fruity citrus thing. It’d go well with cleaning since it’s lemony. Not that I’m cleaning (other than keeping up with the dishes).
I stress-ate a ton of chocolate at work today since I found out I got an interview for a promotion next week, but I’m afraid they’re going to ask me to put together a Powerpoint presentation on the spot with very little time to prepare (how much time? Who knows). Uggghhhh. I’ll have to try to imagine what they may ask for, and what I can throw together quickly. And I’ll have to brush up on my Powerpoint skills.
Good luck on the interview next week; sounds like you have a good plan to prepare for it; brush up on your skills, take a deep breath and have a confidence in yourself (says your encouraging HR rep). And you smell good- Naturelle is an everyday favorite of mine in the Spring; I like to wear it over a lemon body lotion. I find it similar to Light Blue but I much prefer the Naturelle.
Thank you! I think I’ll feel better about it after I sit down and really prepare myself. This will also be my first interview over Zoom, and I’ll be borrowing someone else’s office and computer so I can have some privacy (my desk is in the open). I’ll have to set up early so there are no technical difficulties. At least I won’t have to wear my interview pants ;).
I’m enjoying Naturelle too! Another Zoom interview bonus: I’ll be able to wear whatever perfume I want, no worries about irritating the interviewers.
Congrats on the opportunity for promotion; we’ve got our fingers crossed for you! ?
Thank you!!
I wore Rose Rebelle Respawn since it’s such a sprightly pick- me-up scent (Pick up things, put in boxes)
