It's Tuesday and World Meteorological Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I've overslept, and after a good cup of tea (Numi Chinese Breakfast, brewed strong) or two, I'm going to pick a fragrance from the comments.
Reminder: 3/26 will be Guessing Game Friday, edition 4. Describe your perfume to us, OR, give your perfume the name it ought to have had, and we'll see if we can guess what it is. Suggested by Glannys.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Getting ready to head out for second jab. Hoping for minimal side effects! I have way too much to do and can’t afford to have down time! Timing-wise I’ll also be just under the wire to get my second Shingles jab before hitting the road.
Wearing Shalimar Eau de Cologne. This has become a favorite.
I love Shalimar in all its forms
Yep, and that’s why you got an enabler pin from me when I bought this.
Me too!
Twins!?
Good luck with the shot!
Fingers crossed, LizzieB!
Hoping for a good second jab!
Good luck, LizzieB!
I love Shalimar EdC too.
Hopefully no side effects!
Good luck to you, LizzieB! ?
Fingers crossed for minimal side effects!
Hope that your second shot does not give you any aggro!
Tea is Rose Himalaya
Guessing Game-
This is a perfume from a house which uses numbers in its name. For a sweet gourmand, it is also very refreshing and uplifting. Makes me want to dance, soar and I am sure others may want to take a bite out of me like I am a forbidden fruit..
In this thrift store shirt today https://images.app.goo.gl/nCopgX7MX34HCTi2A
Nobile 1942 La Danza Delle Libellule?
Ding Ding!
I am making mine too easy!!!
Thanks for guessing therabbitsflower
Very cute shirt!
Thrift store early b-day gift for me. I usually treat myself to perfume but this year I am not sure ?
I’m wearing Jour d’Hermes Absolu,
Well that was easy…I’m your sibling now in regular Jour d’Hermes.
I’m in Andy Tauer L’air du Désert Marocain, which I just rediscovered while digging through a box. Damn but it’s good. I don’t know why I don’t wear this all the time: that spicy, woody amber is exactly the sort of thing I love. It’s not going back in the box, that’s for sure.
You smell glorious!
Such a beautiful scent. It was too much for me to wear but I so appreciate it.
I know *exactly* what you mean. I feel the same way about Shalimar: I think it’s a marvel of construction, but I can’t put it on my skin because it’s suffocating.
You smell wonderful!
It’s a wonderful classic, you smell great!
Smelling fantastic!
My SOTD is named after a goddess from mythology that is neither Roman nor Greek. Her name is surprisingly similar to brand’s name.
What am I wearing?
Anubis by Papillon ? Hmm..but the names are similar…
are Not similar..
I will keep guessing later
Keep trying ?
Hmm, I don’t seem to know any mythological goddesses that aren’t Greek or Roman. Sad lack of knowledge on my part….
It was something new I learned too. At school only Greek and Roman mythology are discussed.
After cheating by referring to your blog, I’m going to guess Nishane Nanshe.
We have a winner!
You are absolutely right.
Ooo.. sounds intriguing. What is it like ?
You can find a full review on my blog
I’m in a semi-Swedish version of Fracas
Byredo – something???
Right on the house.
Byredo Flowerhead?
Yep
Good morning,
I don’t know much about my scent, but many here will. It refers to a street in the city of love.
34 Boulevard Saint Germain?
nope but a nice scent for sure!
24 Faubourg by Hermes?
I have yet to smell this – on it goes on my duty free list!
31 Rue Cambon
Ding! Ding! Ding!
To all other people, I didn’t even realize how many “road scents” of Paris there are, so good job!
ChampsElysee
have not smelled that one, good guess!
Sotd is Tam Dao. Providing me with the much needed tranquility and peace. When will it be the weekend!? This week feels so long and it’s only Tuesday… Sorry about the mini rant
You smell great!
Tuesday mini rants are always okay in my book. I hope the rest of your week goes more quickly! ?
It’s been a while since I’ve seen anyone here refer to Tuesday as Monday’s Ugly Little Sister…
spellbound woods made for itinerant royalty. ?????
Enchanted Forest by the Vagabond Prince…
Yes!
Today’s scent is based on a favorite candy of mine, and a flavor that many will leave in the bottom of the jelly bean bag.
???
Black Vines?
Right flavor but not right scent
Brin de Réglisse?
Or maybe Lolita Lempicka?
Yes! Winner!
This scent must really have been groundbreaking when it first came out.
Yay! Having guessed two this morning, I will now retire for the day.
Wearing Memoir Woman this morning, trying to shake of the chill.
Chilly here too this morning. (Oops, it’s already afternoon.)
This must have helped.
Good morning Y’all,
Wearing my favorite discovery from 2020….Living Lalique. I LOVE this one….it’s a childhood memory of a particular department store that my mom and I liked to shop. (Castner Knott). CK is long gone, but this smells like their beauty dept…..
I have not heard of Castner Knott! But we had wonderful local department stores when I was young. All gone now.
SOTM (and maybe the day, if the 12 sprays help it last) is Paris-Deauville.
I have a bottle of Paris-Deaville. My go-to summer scent.
I’ll bet it smells wonderful on male skin. Again I wish Mr. G would let me play with scent on him, but he just won’t. Ah well, first world problems, as they say.
My boyfriend won’t let me either.
I think that was the only of the Eaux that I liked.
Good morning all! My SOTD is Eau des Merveilles by Hermès.
Headed out for my walk, everyone have a great day!
Hey cousin! Have a great walk.
Hey Cuz! Fantastic walk!
It’s already pretty faded, but I’m in the last whiffs of a perfume by and American Perfumer that might otherwise be called something like Wasteland Flower.
Dame perfumery?
Yep—Desert Rose.
Cactus Orchid by Dame?
Desert Rose by Dame?
That’s the one!
The point should go to perfumelover67 – I wouldn’t have come up with the guess if you two weren’t twins today
This is my fave CP!
So. My perfume this morning highlights a fragrant grass native to India. The nose for this perfume is local to the Bay Area, and is also a painter.
I have to say, while I am enjoying testing this one—I don’t feel any compunction to buy a full bottle.
I guess this is some vetiver but as non-American I can’t figure the perfumer.
Is it Vetiverissimo by Bruno Fazzolari?
Ding ding ding!!!!!!
something by Aftelier…not sure if she is a painter but I know she is in the Bay Area…
My SOTD is the name of a place and smells like a cross between Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir (without the tea and tobacco) and Kilian, Love don’t be shy Extreme, including the glittery ? ?. No IG post yet (haven’t even taken the picture!). ?
Sintra?
Ding ding ?! Was it the unicorn poop? Just kidding ?
?I do not remember any glitter, but NGL – Sintra was kind of cloying on me.
Did you get it from BG? I have a $250 gift card and no idea what to do with it, any suggestions?
First world problems. Yes, I got the bottle from BG. If you like musky sweet, Sintra is for you! Or maybe you can try to see if you can get Dior Tobacolor; I am very curious about this one.
I bought a decant of Tobacolor and don’t want more, maybe I will try for Sintra.
LOL at ??! Thanks for the smile.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m trying out one of my Luckyscent samples. They finally arrived yesterday, 12 days after I ordered them. It’s SL FLeurs de Citronnier and is pleasant but doesn’t quite hit the nail on the head.
Did anyone else notice how many very young girls there are in that tea-picking picture? Something tells me it was not all as bucolic as the photograph makes it look.
And now that I’ve looked again, young boys, too.
I noticed that none of them look at all happy. I have a very old photo of my great great grandparents, and they look so tired, like these folks. Farmers with nine children. ?
I noticed that too.
Also true that in some cultures & times/places, smiling for the camera was not a thing. So, hard to say: are they unhappy? Just doing their normal expression? Annoyed at having their picture taken?
Either way, just loved the picture.
In Dame Desert Rose.
Very busy day. Back to read comments later.
Happy Tuesday! ?
Happy Tuesday pl67!
Thank you, Robin!
Hi, Twin!
? We smell great!
I’ve heard good things about Desert Rose.
It’s a very pretty sweet, spicy rose with a nice powdery touch. It is in my full bottle list already for some day.
I’m enjoying this CP!
I smell like I just walked out of a pickle shop and into NYC (circa 2015).
Le Labo Santal 33?
Ding Ding Ding! I guess the pickle was a a give away
It really was! ?
Thankfully, I did not get pickle from that when I sniffed it!
Continuing my perfume resolution to start Using It Up, I am starting to work on decants. Right now it’s my travel decants, i.e. items I have a bottle of, and today it’s Meteorites. If I get wildly ambitious, there are a couple of close to empty bottles of which I have back-up bottles. Will see whether those get tackled this year.
I found at least one unopened box of decants from a splitter. I may have 2 more ?
Late for the guessing game.
A short puzzle:
Signet Rest.
Ok, I dropped an apostrophe. Does it help?
The house is French, and it makes a lot of leather perfumes. The scents are pricey. This one is not from their leather line, it is from their “artsy” line. hajusuuri definitely knows this house.
Has to be Memo Tiger’s Nest, right?
Yes! ?
I’m thinking Memo…but they’re not French…or are they…
Not very good at this game ?
Yes, Memo Paris. Tiger’s Nest – SheriG guessed it.
More from The Harmonist today, Metal Flower and Guiding Water. I’m wondering how they keep track of all of these similar names! Metal Flower is very pretty in the drydown, but I’m not in love.
Tea is Taylor’s Assam plus a decaf chai, the usual. I’m starting to wonder if this box of tea is like Jalapeno’s sample: never ending!
LOL. I know about the perfume names and it’s enough to stress me out ?
Hope that you get a “Tea Thunk” sometime soon!
SOTD is a green juice flanker released in 2007 from one of the big French brands. It’s not super popular among perfumistas, but I’m trying it again for nostalgia since it was one of the main perfumes I wore in the year or two following its release.
Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche?
You got it!
I had a sample of that flanker and found it a rather likeable summer scent.
Yes, I enjoyed wearing it yesterday. However, I think for both it and Allure, which I wore in high school – they belong to the past for me.
I’m wearing a perfume that shares its name with a book written by an author who managed to twice win the same literary award. He is so far the only writer to have done so.
Hemingway?
Nope. Did he ever win any awards?
Nobel Prize in Literature. But only once apparently.
Oh, dear. I feel like an ignorant fool. I don’t like Hemingway much myself so I will claim that Ad An excuse
I am not a big fan either. Although I recently read Snow on Kilimanjaro and enjoyed it.
(Although I dimly remembered that he won something.)
Don’t feel bad about Nobel. I did not know either, I researched after your puzzle.
And I have no idea who the author in your puzzle is.
O actually did enjoy The Old Man and the Sea. The author I was referring to was Romain Gary, who won the price Goncourt twice
Portrait of a Lady? Although I’m not sure if Henry James won an award twice….
No, not him either
I’ll give an additional clue: this author was only able to win the same award twice due to something he did with his name.
Is it a modern author?
No he died in the last century
If I get this correct, I must confess that I did a little research! If I did not, well then there are more than one who fit your criteria!
La Tulipe?
No, not at all. The only wat that the author I AM referring to was able to accomplish this, was by creating an alias
Wat = way
Same author, diff book/perfume: La Promesse de l’aube?
Yesssssss!
I had confused La Tulipe noire (by Dumas) with Tulipe, sobI thought you referred to Dumas. I still think Gary was clever in exposing the French literary establishments’s bias against him in this wat.
The perfume I am wearing was created by a perfumer who had since created his own brand. What this perfumer shares with this author is roots in Eastern Europe.
had = has
I just read your answer. I never even heard about Romain Gary! It was sneaky of him to send a relative to pick up the second award. ?
He was a very unusual man. Born either in Russia or Lithuania. Hisvreal name was probably Gary Kacew. He was a fighter pilot in the French-British army in WWII and later became a diplomat for France.
La promesse de l’aube is beautiful. It has been translated into English
I’m loving the guessing games! Mine today will probably be easy: I smell like apple cider spilled across hot slate, puffs of powdered almonds and sugar, and whiffs of the inside of an old, carved Lebanese cedar box in which someone once stored one saffron-stained leather glove.
Wow, whatever you’re wearing sounds incredible! Is it Traversee du Bosphore?
Yes indeed!
Yay! I loved that way you described the fragrance!
Oh, that sounds lovely. Apple notes seem to function like salt for me, I can’t isolate them, but they elevate whatever they are mixed with. This sounds great even before factoring in my apple elevation.
I love it. And zero Jolly Rancher in the apple-ness; it’s warm and golden rather than green-candy scented.
Trying two from Maison Tahité from a generous NSTer today: Vanilla2 and Vanillade. Both nice but not wowed by either so far.
They are all pleasant but none are earth-shattering. I wear them when I am not up to anything challenging, same with the Boucheron Vanille de Zanzibar.
Chanel Le Lion
Dropped Jake off at the vet early this morning in no 22 extrait. Since I have showered, I am in Coco Mademoiselle Intense. He made it through like a champ and will be leaving in about a half an hour to pick him up and see what the damage to my bank account will be.
Yay, terrific news about Jake, I bet you’re relieved! Fingers crossed that the bank account damage won’t be too brutal.
Hooray! Glad to hear he’s doing well!
Glad to hear Jake did well! Best wishes for a quick recovery.
Thanks for sharing the good news about Jake!
Great news about Jake! So happy!
Scent twin! And, so happy Jake did well!
Pour la Belle by Schlossparfumerie Stuttgart. Nice mossy chypre
No guessing game for me today because Lovestosmellgood did it so well with this scent yesterday, even injecting a reference to the handsome Thierry Wasser! I’m in Iris Torréfié.
Love it!
Scent: Parfums de Nicolai Eau de Yuzu from a sample. Went with about half the sample today in order to get a better feel for it. It’s nice.
Tea: Upton Christmas tea, for warmth. It’s in the mid 50s today, which is really nice, but I’m generally a lizard and require additional thermal support.
Oh, I need to try that PdN, I keep forgetting!
I’m wearing Theorema today; yesterday I was scentless because the whole day got away from me. I was up late Sunday night reading, then slept late Monday and spent the rest of the day trying to catch up.
You smell heavenly! I seem to only reach for Theorema around Christmastime/midwinter but it’s such a beauty.
I’m realizing that I haven’t worn Theorema once this winter. That’s a crime against perfume!
Yes it is!!
Ok post-shower I’m trying another one of my new samples. Think of an elegant gentleman strolling the streets of Vienna.
Knize Ten?
Ding ding!
A lovely spring day and I’m wearing Cinema.
You smell very spring-like!
MFK Grand Soir layered over Tauer Wowilla oil.
I need some help, got a Bergdorf Goodman gift card and no idea what to buy. Ideas?
Perfume!
Your question reminded me of the time when my husband took his cousin from Glasgow (he must have been about 20 years old at the time) to a diner in New York City. The waitress came to their table and asked how he wanted his eggs. He looked at her–completely blank. A moment passed. Then another. Finally, he seemed to grasp the significance of the question. “Cooked!” he said.
? ?
Oversleeping twins with Robin today. I took advantage of the nice weather to get outside and do a bit of weeding. The landscaping guys sure won’t do it… they’ll just mow it down, which doesn’t really solve that issue.
SOTD = still in Wrappings.
Wrapped in Wrappings!
Glannys guessed my SOTD! ???
Here’s my post, including Marshmallow ? !
https://www.instagram.com/p/CMxrvy4BkMC/?igshid=z7dc8asd90cl
Beautiful! ?
Thank you!
The scent didn’t work for me but that bottle!
It is very pretty for sure!
SotD is Coco Mademoiselle edp Intense. Off to read the comments and seek inspiration for Friday’s CP.
