Happy Hump Day and happy Saint Patrick’s Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
Continuing on my current theme of Parfums de Nicolaï fragrances I should have bought when I had the chance, I'm in Kiss Me Tender.
Reminder: 3/19 will be Foody Friday...wear a gourmand or foody fragrance (this is a repeat project from 2015).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hi Robin! Just happen to pop in today and read that you’re wearing KMT as your SOTD. You’ve inspired me to chose it as my scent of the day as well. I hope that you are well.
…and happy Saint Patrick’s day to all who celebrate!
Hey Petunia!! Glad we are twins, and hope you are very well too.
Hey Twin, I enjoyed KMT today and hope you did as well!
Nice to see your cute kitty face Petunia!
Hi lillyjo! I hope you are well. Good to see you are still posting! Hope your family is managing well!
Woo hoo! Great to see you here!
Hey there you!. I’m curious if you ever tried out Irises? If so, whatchathink? I’ve been keeping up with you on Insta. so I know you’re up to your usual tricks. ?
Hi Petunia!
Hi Gail! Hope you are well. Is it you who loves Iris Prima?
It isn’t me as I haven’t tried IP (yet)! Hope you are doing ok; we are hanging in there.
Hiya Petunia! Glad to see you posting here today!
Hey there Jalapeno! How are you and the hubs?
We’re hanging in there. Yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of Mr. Jalapeno starting his WFH. It’s still a bit of a shock to realize that.

Oh, I do! Now I’m even more excited.
I’m going to spritz a little on this evening!
Happy St. Patrick’s day! ☘
Wearing Annick Goutal Vanille Exquise.
I am trying to stay awake on this cloudy, but at least warmer day. Taking my second cup of coffee earlier than usual didn’t help much, so I need to have a third one asap with a cinnamon raisin peanut butter and toast.
Had a busy day yesterday with a morning full of unnecessary meetings and then taking my mom to the first dose of the vaccine in the afternoon. I hadn’t seen her so excited in a long time and I felt so relieved and happy for her at the same time.
Today, it’s been a year since I started working from home. We were supposed to go back to the office…. 2 weeks later. Latest talks from management indicate that we will return full time in May, with almost full capacity in the building.
I am expecting my full bottle of Boucheron Iris de Syracuse to be delivered today, so I will be posting the split on Saturday, if anyone is interested.
Have a safe and healthy day, everyone! ☘
Hi PL67, I’ve been so curious about Iris de Syracuse. Does it smell similar to Infusion d’Iris?
I find a slight similarly in the drydown. Most of the scent is woody, creamy, lightly sweet and powdery.
Thank you! It sounds very nice.
What is this Boucheron like?
See above
Yay mom! So glad.
Thank you, Robin!
Hooray for your mom getting her first dose! That’s wonderful news!
I love Boucheron, such an elegant perfume. Jaipur is another favorite.
Thank you, SmokeyToes!
I love Jaipur also! I have not worn it in a while, so I think is time to revisit it. Thanks for the reminder!
Yay for your mom’s vaccination!
Thank you, Isabella!
Yay for your mom!!
Thank you, Springpansy!
Happy for your mom!
Thank you, Lillyjo!
Happy for your mom! And you smell wonderful!
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
I’m glad she felt excited – I know I do – “go humans, beat virus!” A man was standing on our courthouse lawn holding a sign with that slogan last year, and I loved it.
Mom keeps saying she feels good and no side effects, except for a sore arm. She is looking forward already for the second dose. It makes me happy to see her so excited about it!
Very glad for your Mom!
Thank you, Gail!
Yay for the vaccine for your mom, I hope the side effects stay mild for dose two (but even if they don’t, it’ll still be worth it!).
Thank you, Eschmeling! I am also expecting the side effects of the second dose will be stronger on her. But that’s nothing compared to getting sick, especially at her age. So, it is indeed worth it!
So happy for you and your mom! To see your mother so happy brings more joy and peace in you, as well, I bet.
Meetings with the higher ups usually wasted a lot of precious time that I could have used working with kids, parents or taking classes that would have benefited my ability to be a better teacher all around. We always seemed to lose the exceptional ones. I hope my experience was the exception.
Mind if I ask your thoughts on the vanilla?
Thank you, Annie! We definitely feel more relaxed about mom’s vaccination. It has been very scary all this time to think that she could get seriously sick.
Regarding Vanille Exquise, it is a very soft vanilla scent with a nice almond note. It is slightly sweet and powdery. I love it because I cannot wear heavy, gourmand vanilla scents. It is very comfy and enjoyable. If you check the list I emailed you last night, you have it there. Just let me know! ?
So happy for you and your mom about her first shot! I know that I felt better when I heard that my mom had received her first dose. It’s definitely a weight off the mind.
Thank you, Jalapeno! It is a relieved to know that our mom’s are better protected now.
I’m in vintage Estée Lauder Knowing parfum, back when it was lushly floral and thick with oakmoss, one of the great triumphs of eighties perfumery. (It’s a crime what’s being sold under that name today.)
I do love Knowing, it’s such a remarkable fragrance. Even though the reformulation isn’t the best, I think overall, Estee Lauder perfumes are still in better shape post-IFRA than many others..
For the most part, if you’d never smelled the originals, then yeah, the Lauder scents have been maintained pretty well compared to a lot of other houses. (The worst is debatable, but I think either Lutens or Dior.) We deranged oakmoss fans will never be satisfied with anything but the original, of course.
Deranged is an apt description!
I can see it now, invasion of the Deranged Zombie Perfumistas, on the next Geraldo Rivera show. 😯
I’d add Guerlain and Chanel to the list.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Nobody cares if Britney Spears Curious gets reformulated (who would notice?), but when you tinker with a great work of art like No. 5 or Diorissimo, people get *angry*. It’s like painting a baseball cap on the Mona Lisa and insisting it’s the same as it always was.
The last time I tried Cinnabar, I didn’t recognize it. The SA insisted it hadn’t been reformulated. She was a big liar! Lol
I think it’s her training. Reminds me of the time I asked a Wegmans worker if he would recommend pan frying crab cake vs baking. His answer was he can only recommend what’s in his training manual.
that is so sad!!
Now that’s ridiculous, and a cop out. For the record, frying them (or any fish cake) in a little oil in a nonstick skillet will be nice and flavorful.
Why can’t people just say they don’t know?!?
Ha! We ran out of nested comments! I ended up pan frying anyway.
Yeah, the official party line is that no scent has ever been altered in any meaningful way. Here’s what LauderCorp has the nerve to say: “While there have been no significant changes made to our Estée Lauder SpellBound Eau de Parfum Spray, our experts have learned that when an individual uses predominantly one fragrance for an extended period of time, it’s possible that the wearer may perceive the fragrance to be different.” A vicious lie, as anyone who’s smelled the most recent version knows.
And lord knows we’ve heard that line a few times!
Yes! The SA did try and blame my nose memory!
Pyramus, I’m with you: that quote: “While there have been no significant changes made to our Estée Lauder SpellBound Eau de Parfum Spray, our experts have learned that when an individual uses predominantly one fragrance for an extended period of time, it’s possible that the wearer may perceive the fragrance to be different.” I say: Oh that is so dumb!!! But I am firmly in the camp that EL’s classics are closer to the glory days than some Guerlains I’ve smelled; and, one will get something of the classic in the modern version. I’ve been testing Cinnabar vintage vs. old, and new Cinnabar is an eye-opener for perfume newbies.
Happy St Patty’s day Lads and Lassies!
Had to go green with Versace Versense. Green scent, green juice! Smells lovely too…. 🙂
Good call Jada!
Happy St Pattys
Continuing my Chanel week
Coco Noir body cream
I am still up in the air if I want to buy the parfum again.
Off to do both Italian and Moroccan Arabic lessons today! Ciao and bslama
Repurchasing the same scent is a tough call because there is so much out there. ?
I know! I agree
I didn’t like the Coco Noir EdP as much, but the extrait is stunning ~! What does one do…
You smell great!
Hello, LTSG,
Could you give your thoughts on Coco Noir? And the difference between the edp and edt?
One more question. ? Forgive me, you probably have answered this a trillion times, how do you learn your languages?
Have a great day!
Hi Annie-
Through this website Italki (hope its ok for me to post, I have no affiliation, just a student of language) https://www.italki.com/i/EbBEHD?hl=en-us is the link and you and I get credits if you decide to try it out.
I only know of the parfum for Coco Noir, and I don’t think there is a EdT. The EdP is ok, but not as good as the extrait. You know was is really lovely, the body cream in the big black jar. It’s so delicious. Amo!!
I used the last few sprays of my beloved Theorema this morning 🙁
Oh no! One can’t be out of Theorema…
Theorema is awesome. Did you drain a full bottle or a decant? Theorema is too awesome to have been discontinued.
Curious if you will go a-Ebaying for a replacement? I see Theorama there all the time – doesn’t seem pricey enough to be likely to be faked – so is there a reason not to get it that way?
You have my sympathies.
A moment of silence…
Ohhh, a moment of silence….
Early for a change! Also picked the perfect scent for Robin’s image – Tihota. Right out of the dabber I smelled like a toasted marshmallow; now it’s settling into eau de Vanilla Wafer. Probably should have saved this for Friday.
Still freezing!
Yummm!
Craving Vanilla Wafers rn!
You could always wear it again!
I may have to!
Happy St. Paddy’s day! I’m wearing Le Galion L’Âme Perdue, thanks to pixel. 🙂
You smell beautiful!
Good Morning everyone, my SOTD is Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Parfum, layered over the body oil. I’m wafting lots of spicy, patchouli, vanilla, goodness.
I had to laugh, I must be running in my sleep, my fitbit had recorded 136 steps before my feet hit the floor today! 😀
Coffee consumed, shoes on, I’m out the door!
Uh oh, sleep exercising! 🙂 I haven’t smelled Coco Mademoiselle but if it’s anything like Coco, you smell wonderful!
I think Coco Mademoiselle is sweeter, not as spicy nor resinuous as the original Coco.
Vintage Coco is in the same family as the original Fendi and Teatro Alla Scala by Krizia.
Sleepwalk exercising? ?. That also counts! ?
wow..you burn calories in your sleep!
We are almost scent twins.
You smell wonderful….I owned the parfum back in the day of Coco Mslle and I really enjoyed it. How is the body oil? They discontinued this?
We are both smelling like spicy patchouli today…
Yes, if I could do that all of the time, I’d chose marathon running to burn calories!
Unfortunately, I just looked and Chanel discontinued the body oil, it’s glorious stuff. Thankfully, my bottle is huge.
SOTD: Natori — lovely plumy, rose with a sprinkle of aldehydes
It’s been awhile since I’ve worn this one and every time I do I think of ihadanidea who loved this and used to post regularly on here.
I think I’m done with birthdays for a while. It’s been a few weeks of lots of mailings and card writing and one lost package 🙁
March is the one month when I just happen to have a huge number of family and friends born not to mention a baby shower to add to the mix.
I am also born in March. 🙂
Happy March birthday! ?
Yes, I love the shopping for gifting, but not the packing and mailing part…
Despise mailing stuff. Usually I get my husband to do this if I can.
You smell wonderful!
Another March baby here. What were our parents all doing 9 months prior??
Exactly! Happy March birthday to you as well!
Ihadanidea and I bonded over a shared love of Natori. I still have an unopened back up bottle. Oddly, I’ve gone anosmic to the current bottle, and it used to seem so strong! In any case, you smell really good.
Aww.. she’s very sweet. Miss her.
And it’s such a lovely bottle.
Feeling a bit icky this morning so I’m currently commando, but I’ll probably put on some No.19 EDP later in the spirit of wearing something green.
Thank you for all your kind comments yesterday; y’all continue to be the nicest people I know. 🙂 I’ve been trying to sort myself out, and I think that the warming weather and springing springtime and the encouraging vaccine news, while all wonderful and bright, has provoked a kind of contrary heaviness in me — all the optimism and newness and promise of the future making me realize that my own landscape and future feel so empty. Like there’s now the option to have things to look forward to, but I can’t find anything to look forward to. I suppose I’m still getting used to single-motherhood, and the daily overwhelm seems to crush and displace everything. Probably all totally normal, given the circumstances.
At any rate, thank you for the hugs and encouragement. What a wonderful community this is!
I’ve been there—a rebirth all around puts the pain in sharper relief. I hope you are able to care for yourself some as you’re caring for others.
And maybe No 19 will make the day just a touch better!
Thank you, and I may reach for No. 19 tomorrow — I think allergies have me feeling a bit carsicky right now and fragrance sometimes just doesn’t work.
Wasn’t on forum yesterday to comment – but here is an extra hug from me! The phenomenon you are describing is not unusual (from what I have read and experienced). Suicide rates are higher during summer months (to the surprise of many). Feeling out of kilter with an outside world which seems increasingly bright and joyous can be an anxiety and despair provoking experience. It feels isolating but take some consolation in that you are CERTAINLY not alone in this. ???
Thank you for this context and understanding! I once read that unhappiness is a measure of the distance between what one has and what one wants; it probably follows that the distance between what one is experiencing and what one’s peers appear to be experiencing can be likewise provoking.
I missed your post yesterday. I have been there too and I know how you feel. Sending hugs and positive vibes! ?
Sending hugs to you Isabella.
sorry to hear this, I didn’t read your post from yesterday but No 19 sounds like a nice way to bring in the day.
This weekend my family and I celebrate Norooz. I am not Persian, but an honorary Persian 😉 One of the things that I love about the holiday is letting go over the past year and starting anew, letting go of old habits and thoughts that don’t serve you any purpose, sometimes you wear new clothes, cook with herbs to signify rebirth and rejuvenation. Clean your home so the home refreshed. The reason I am explaining all of this is that if you need something to look forward to, you can welcome spring into your home. Buy flowers and fresh herbs, take in more daylight. I don’t have much to look forward to these days also but preparing for Norooz has given me something to contemplate in my own mind.
I too think that is a great idea – Spring is really the New Year, not December 31st. Sending hugs, Isabella: you expressed yourself very well, and I feel sure you are handling the difficult thinks much better than you may feel.
I have found it hard to process personal life while all this has been going on. Sending you comfort and hugs.
I missed your post yesterday, and I’m sorry you’re out of sorts. Wearing something green, perhaps opening all the windows (if it’s not freezing out) may air out the staleness?
I purchased a huge bunch of fresh herbs yesterday and the refreshing smell of basil, mint, cilantro, and parsley really uplifted my spirits!
I can’t wait to get my herb garden cranking for the year! I grow parsley, basil, angelica, marjoram, chives, oregano, hummingbird sage, anise hyssop, lemon balm, and various others just outside my back door, and it’s so glorious when it’s all thriving and blooming and filled with hummy bees!
Wow, that’s quite the selection! If you can, try to grow some extra parsley. I found out by accident that Monarch butterflies will use it as food if milkweed plants aren’t nearby.
The isolation of the last year has made managing mental health a lot harder for people, especially those with difficulties in that area regardless (changing life circumstances, seasonal affective disorder, ect). Extend yourself some grace. Much love.
It’s really been an abnormal year, no matter how well we think we’ve adapted. Love back!
Isabella,
I’m sorry to hear spring springing has an opposite effect for you, I just wanted to say your post was beautifully written so maybe finding time for writing would be something? Maybe you already do that, or maybe you don’t have time for that. But I noticed the writer in you in the post!
I 2nd that!
And every time someone here talks about how much they are struggling, they help someone else who is struggling and feeling like they must be alone.
The aloneness is really a fallacy, isn’t it, as real as it might feel! But I feel like I need to stop complaining and get back to just smelling good. 🙂
Missed your comment yesterday as well–but sending hugs and best wishes. I HAAAAAATE that low low low feeling when I struggle to find things to look forward to. It will ebb and flow. Be kind to yourself in the meantime.
Thank you for the hugs and understanding!
I really empathise with your feelings, hope that expressing them will make them go away.
You are definitely not alone in having some mixed feelings as spring is coming and some people are better able to feel/see a light at the end of their own tunnels already.
Even if feeling overwhelmed and numbed is totally normal under the circumstances, it still sucks! I’m so glad you have an outlet to express some of that here, and please know that you are worth of love, self-esteem and a bright future – even if you can’t visualize it yet. Sending hugs!
So sorry you are feeling down, Isabella. Perhaps we can all carry a bit of your sadness to lighten the load for you.
That’s so enormously and movingly kind! Thank you.
Hope that you are not feeling icky right now.
Chanel Allure Homme Édition Blanche today. I’ve read comments on Fragrantica that it smells like lemon pie, but it isn’t nearly that sweet for me. I find it a green lemon and thus, perfect for today (see what I did there? I’m wearing green!). Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I’ve got a mix of Irish and Scottish in me, but I never do anything terribly appropriate for dinner. Maybe someday.
Maybe it’s not so much green as the cedar backbone I’m getting. Anyway, it’s a great fragrance. Off to add a green shirt. 😉
I am Irish in bread only ?
Ahahaha
Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!
??!
Lol! ?
I remember really liking this one but truly couldn’t fathom the lemon pie description. It’s certainly not a gourmand to my nose!
Wearing twee Diors neither of which is really floating my boat. Diorissima and Balade sauvage. The first is Just not nice at all and the wild walk is sort of ok.
I have since doused myself in PdN New York and deel much better ?
Just the name Diorissima makes me roll my eyes. (Sorry to anyone who loves it.)
It is pretty awful
Chanel Coco Mad Intense from a sample. At first spray, it smelled alarmingly Angel-ish, but it has calmed down and smells quite nice. Lots of tonka. Not really “me” but very nice.
Our school’s Key Club, which I co-advise, planned “thank you” Zoom messages for all of the teachers for today, and even though I was expecting it, I still got choked up when my 4th period class “delivered mine. And I thanked them right back; I’m lucky to teach such great kids, even in awful circumstances.
You smell great – I like CMI a lot, but it did reveal to me that tonka is not my best note. Some days it just does not hit the spot.
Awwwwwwwwwwwww!
SotD is Chanel Paris-Venise.
You smell nice, my dear!
Thank you 🙂
that one is on my short list, and for once, not crazy expensive – you smell fine!
It’s a decent price for a perfume with Chanel logo on it.
Part of the windfall came today and having a smaller one coming tomorrow, so I am happy with that. Off work today but still got up at 7 this morning. About to take a shower to wash off the reformulated MKK. Will probably switch to either vintage no 19 or go with vintage Mitsouko. Just got to figure out what time I want to start the corned beef.
Congrats Dawn!
What did you think of the reformulated version of MKK?
It’s nice enough but not full bottle worthy. I will stick to the 2 decants that I have of the older stuff.
Definitely changed, then.
Hey all! Do you like my new gravatar? That’s my dog when she was just a puppy. She’s over a year old now, but hasn’t gotten much bigger! She’s a chihuahua mix sweetheart.
I’m thunking an old sample of DKNY Be Delicious Eau So Intense. I guess that fits the foodie theme this week, green apples and all. It’s boring. I’ll wear something else after I take a shower.
I bit the bullet and bought a bottle of Chanel no. 19 EdT on the Chanel site last night. I was surprised they only had 100ml bottles–you’d expect that the motherland would offer every variation and every size possible, but no. Oh well, more for me!
If I love a fragrance, I usually end up with pretty much all the sizes!
Oh wow! Do you start with the small bottles first, or just buy as you please?
Buy as I please. For example, for No.5 L’Eau, I first got the 50mL, then I saw the cute 35mL, the 100mL red bottle, the regular sized travel spray, then the mini-sized travel spray. If a different color bottle were to become available, I am powerless to resist.
That’s so great! You are an excellent collector.
She’s so cute!!
Thank you!
I love your pup’s picture – do her ears stand up all the time, with the little dips on the peaks!!?? Hooray for The Big Bottle of No. 19. I can’t get over my love of the biggest size, even though I have restrained myself more now that the collection has grown.
Yes, love the ears!!
Thank you! Yes, her ears still stand up like that, but the dip occurs lower down now. They change position a lot depending on her mood! For a while as she was growing, her ears became lopsided and looked like they were going to be asymmetrical, but now they’ve evened out.
She’s a cutie! My dear family dog of my youth was a terrier-chihuahua mix, and she had ears like that.
She has some terrier in her too! Rat terrier and Boston terrier. But more Mountain Cur (I had no idea what that was) and Maltese as the runners-up in her breed profile. The terriers give her the short stumpy tail she has :).
What a cutie! I was surfing the Chanel site last night also. I’ve been relaxed re No. 19, figuring it would always be around. I’m just not sure whether EdT or EdP.
Thank you! Yes it’s hard to decide unless you’ve just sniffed both versions, or remember them well enough. I don’t think you can go wrong either way though.
Very cute gravatar.
Thank you!
2nd that — the colors are perfect.
Thank you! I didn’t even take it myself. I need to get some better pics of her from recently, but the lighting in my apartment doesn’t cooperate.
Adorable! Who doesn’t love a pup?
Agreed!
Great picture! So expressive.
Thank you!
Hermes Le Jardin de Monsieur Li
Yum. I am hoping for Monsieur Li weather this weekend.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Scent: Demeter Dandelion. I really enjoy this one, and for a Demeter, the lasting power isn’t bad (probably a couple of hours)
Outfit: jeans and a green t-shirt
I am wearing a green shirt too, although it’s the wrong shade. All I got, green is not my color.
Today is election day! For our House of Representatives
I voted in our local mosque ?
You get to choose from all kinds of locations to vote, mostly school buildings or offices. But i never visited this mosque. So here was my chance.
No sotd yet, but i am considering something with lots of jasmine
I voted by mail this time, keeping my fingers crossed that my vote has arrived in time.
? i hope so as well!
How nice that you get to choose!!! We do not get choice, I’ve been voting in the same Friends Meeting House since moving here.
Usually I go to the nearest school ?, but i think this location was added this year.
And this year there was an online map where you could see how busy it was at all the locations. Mostly becauss of covid i guess (to avoid crowds), but also handy for those with little time / in a hurry ?
I have the same voting situation as Robin. When it’s time to vote, I get a sample ballot that tells me where to go.
Sotd – In Figuier Extreme on a chilly bright morning.
You smell great today allo!
Thank you! I was very pleased with myself for remembering that fig is foody!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
No matter how hard I look at that photo of marshmallows, all I see is cubes of feta cheese ?
In Ta’if today for a chilly (for us) and rainy day.
Fera cheese! And my first thought was, divinity squares? ?
ditto for me. I also had feta for a late night snack last night, so…
I get feta cheese as well. I would prefer divinity…
I got tofu
I also got feta cheese! ?
I also perceived them as chunks of feta cheese, and was surprised that Robin was joining in the (apparent) craze for feta pasta from TikTok. Ha ha, then I started to wonder whether there really is a perfume that smells like feta? And was initially shocked but gave it some second thoughts and said to myself, “Well, why not? Might be nice!” Lol!
I have never made my own marshmallows in my life, and the only reason I know that’s what homemade looks like is because of flickr, ha! It is not just this one photo.
I totally thought it was feta cheese!
No green scent, I I wear a khaki green dress with a big abstract leopard print. SOTD is vintage Opium EdT.
Just got the Denona Mini Glam palette in the mail. It’s really nice and the quality is good, but I am glad I did not buy the bigger palette. I have too many palettes and just two eyes….
I have too many too! And I don’t even wear eye makeup anymore. I just can’t bring myself to throw them away.
Like JadainGA, I had to go with green today, so I’m in Philosykos. And wishing I were in Hawaii, which is what Philosykos always reminds me of.
I wish I were in Hawaii too. Sigh.
Tried to get something green for St Patty’s, and gourmand for the CP, and ended up with Arielle Shoshanna Sunday. It’s not really that green, but there’s a matcha note contributing to the sweet milk tea vibe.
Now that our trip down south to scope stuff out/lock down a place to live is getting closer, I’m thinking about what fragrances to bring…something comforting? A favorite? A pile of samples to play around with? Decisions, decisions.
All of the above I say!
LOL. I don’t know if the Mr will love me taking over his quart-sized bag as well as mine!
Ah! Let’s see how much he loves you. Just kidding. I would bring a decant of what you love and some samples.
Maybe something that is a spine-strengthener? Looking for places to live can be a slog.
No 19 is going on the list ?
Good call!
I’m in Memoirs of a Trespasser, which I wore to bed last night. It was so good, I just re-upped.
Rain this morning as a cool front moves through. Clear and cool over the next few days, which suits me just fine.
The hubster and I were going to make dog treats for the Wild One yesterday, but didn’t get to it. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow we’ll get to it. ??♀️
I forgot…Robin’s photo made me wonder…has anyone ever made homemade marshmallows before? Easy? Hard or fussy?
Of all the food making things I’ve tried, I tried making marshmallows. It was a fail – all the gelatin ended up on the bottom. I attributed it to not beating it enough.
Whoa, I just read smitten kitchen’s recipe, and it looks complicated. Think I’ll wait on this!
I wish I had a good recipe. A spa I stayed at one time had them, and I swooned.
Spa treatments + homemade marshmallows sounds great to me!
I’ve never had truly homemade marshmallows before, but Jacques Torres made them at his chocolate shops up in NYC. So much better than the grocery store ones!
Ooooh, a chocolate marshmallow sounds divine.
You smell fabulous!
Thanks SheriG! ?
That was some storm that passed through! My usually calm cats were full of anxiety because the rain and wind were so intense. But it’s gorgeous out now!
You had it worse than we did! Glad you and the kitties are okay.
I ❤️ marshmallows, a lot.
Me too! I’ve been known to eat them straight from the bag.
I’ve always thought marshmallows could be better than Jett-Puffed….
From the sound of some of the comments, there are better marshmallows!
In Absolute Aphrodisiac today.
I ordered a sample pack from A Lab on Fire and tried Freckled and Beautiful and A Blvd. Called Sunset yesterday afternoon.
F and B was buttered popcorn and sweet flowers at first but improved as it wore…found the buttery opening off-putting but the drydown was fairly normal gourmand.
ABCS was a violet leather w/ Iso E in the drydown. I like violet but not usually a fan of strong leather.
Wasn’t wowed by either and I thought about Kevin’s article on samples, cost and disappointment. ehaeheh I also placed a Luckyscent order over the weekend so more samples are incoming! Vanilla Quest continues, friends! 🙂
You smell fantastic! Thanks for the reviews.
I’m going to join you in AA today! We smell marvelous.
Reminds me, I quite recently tried P. Rabanne’s Pure XS and I DID like the popcorn opening…
That can be the worst when you order samples and find no winners. Big bummer. Hope Luckyscent provides better luck 😉
Buttered popcorn is something that I much prefer to eat rather than smell like!
In green today with Aura edp layered with the body cream. I am in a bakery-cafe eating a tart rhubarb tort with the smell of baking vanilla cakes all around me. I selected this because I am about to attain a thunk with the jar of body cream. However, I got a bonus from Mugler USA: a free jar of Aura body cream! Mugler is the only company or store I’ve dealt with in recent years that sends really nice premiums. No affiliation, and Aura is by no means my signature, but I appreciate that they reach out to the customers.
I speed read your post and thought you actually were in a cafe eating a rhubarb tart and got all jealous! 🙂
Ha, ha: I was “clear as mud” on that!
I just got a pretty cute makeup bag in the mail from them! Was very concerned I might have ordered something and forgot since they didn’t send me an email about it or anything!
Yes; same here, BTW. The box just arrived, and it said 00.00 cost; but no clear indication it was a thank you. Only because they had sent me nice things out of the blue before did I see it as a gift.
I’m like on my 25th spray of Oeillet Bengale. My nose must be totally broken. I have never been anosmic to this perfume. I have no idea why I can barely smell it today. Fearing some early sign of COVID, I went around the house madly sniffing at things. Seems I can still smell. Very weird. The cat thought it was great fun run around with me, watching me sniffing in closets and cabinets.
I’d happily stand next to you and sniff. One of my favorites.
Happy St. Patrick’s day! I could do the Irish greeting, but I don’t know how to spell it.
The annual St. Patrick’s day party that we go to was the first cancelled party one year ago – but we are actually back on tonight, with a much smaller group of mostly/all vaccinated people, and outside. I am so excited and will wear my daughter’s green down jacket, I guess. Gotta practice my repertoire – I do a song about Ellis island that my Irish husband dislikes immensely, but it is a favorite with the rest of the crowd. I’ve already been belting it out a few times, for practice…. 🙂 If we’re even singing. I might wear a mask for that.
Sounds like fun! Enjoy your St. Pat’s gathering.
Let us know how your meet-up went! ☘?
Green Spell, of course, by Eris Parfums! And yes, it is intensely green, which I love.
I read good things about Green Spell. Is it heavy galbanum?
I would say strong galbanum but not heavy, if you know what I mean! Definitely a leading note, but not overwhelming, to my nose. But I love galbanum, so … ymmv. Your mileage may vary. It also has strong notes of tomato leaf and fig leaf.
Thank you for the great mini review!
Today I am wearing Vodka on the rocks and yesterday I wore Apple Brandy by Kilian, so I guess they count as foody.
Apple Brandy, which is similar to Single Malt, is better than the generic fresh designer like Vodka on the rocks.
We are house twins! I’m in Angels’ Share.
Nice! How is Angel’s Share?
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!???
“May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live. ”
Commando, as I am going through my stash for a sniffathon shortly. Later, I plan on Eire, a gift from a Irish cousin thrifting for me.
Vegetarian dinner is boiled potatoes and cabbage. Wearing my Guinness cozy pants. The music has commenced and the house is decorated.
Love this day! Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!
Lang may yer lum reek!
Your day sounds nice and relaxing! Enjoy! ☘☘
Not so much foody as fruity today – Mary Greenwell’s Plum.
You smell good.
Continuing with my fruity gourmand theme in Addict Eau Délice, a flanker I tested and liked back when it was first released and acquired a few years later. I mainly get cranberry from it, over vanilla, supposedly there is cherry ? and almond too.
Happy St Patrick’s day American friends?
I wish I would have bought some of the flankers when they were available.
Ah, limited edition flankers are a curse for perfumistas. This is a good one but you have to like cranberry, Jalapeno did not like it.
I tried that particular flanker and found out that cranberry notes and I do not get along one bit! So screechy. Blueberry notes in perfume don’t work either.
It’s true it is rather tart, especially at first but this is why I like it sort of like rubharb too.
I’m wearing St Clair Scents First Cut. She posted something on IG yesterday about yuzu marmalade, raving about it, and mentioned there that First Cut has a yuzu opening note. I had not particularly noticed that before–just the cut hay, which seems quite dominant to me, so I wanted to go back and re-check, and sure enough, there it is.
Today I went and got my second dose of vaccine–hurray! My arm is already sore. The nurse today didn’t seem as careful or skilled as the nurse the first time around.
I spent over five hours on the phone yesterday either talking with or about a friend, former student, who is involved in a situation worthy of a convoluted murder mystery/thriller. She is afraid of being murdered and wanted people to know what’s been going on, and it’s very creepy indeed. The police seem to adopt the attitude of “well we can’t do anything until something happens.” I spoke to a lawyer friend who offered free general advice (we neither one of us mentioned any specifics) and I passed that on, and hope it has helped. Still quite concerned though.
Oh wow. I’m so sorry for your friend’s situation ? Please encourage your friend to keep documenting anything she can (threats, verbal/written/etc, stalking) and to continue updating the police to try to get a restraining order in place.
On a brighter note, hooray for your second vaccine dose!
Oh, wow! I had a friend years ago that tended to find herself caught up in really odd and dangerous circumstances. I wasn’t sure if she sought these out or the other way around but it was bizarre to say the least. Be careful!
Sounds terrifying for the friend and very disturbing for their friends and acquaintances. What can be so good in books is so dreadful when it crosses over into actual real life.
Congrats on the vaccine and hope you are getting some comfort from the scent.
If your friend has fears for her safety, that needs to be taken seriously. Glad to hear that you spoke with a lawyer friend about it. Is there a safe house she can get to?
Agree!
SotD some Bal à Versailles parfum de toilette. Not gourmand, but it was what I was in the mood for!
On my way back to Toronto and already missing Mr. Teebear and the cats, but NOT missing the chaos he makes when I’m not around ?
When I got home he had every. single. kitchen cabinet door hanging open. How?!
But he did make some Buddhist feast with egg tofu while I was home, and that dish wipes out a heinous number of minor offenses to my sense of organization.
Men and cabinet doors – it’s a thing! Everywhere! All the time! I don’t get it either.
It’s the same reason dirty socks sometimes miss the clothes hamper and end up on the floor. ??
?
Seriously, the cabinet doors. And the silverware drawer…it must be more convenient to just leave it open 🙂
I love the picture. They look like marshmallows to me.
SOTD = Kilian Angels’ Share
Woot! Boozy gourmand!

Fancy Owl is very Fancy! Gorgeous mosaic!
Thank you!
Such a beautiful mosaic!
In addition to it being St. Patrick’s Day, for me it was also Cleaning Day. Got a load of dishes done plus I washed the bedspread. (And oh boy it needed to be washed. ?)
Today’s picture kind of looks like handmade soap to me. But I have had marshmallows like those before, and wow, were they good!
SOTD = back in Poison Girl EdP. I have the EdT as well and should do a side by side sniff one of these days.
I did 3 loads over the weekend and this weekend is beddings laundry day.
I thought about putting off today’s wash, but decided I’d done that long enough. Besides, there’s always more loads of laundry to do, isn’t there?
I prefer the edt. I think it has more of the orange opening and less of the ambroxan drydown.
Interesting. I don’t get any ambroxan in either of the Girls. Not sure how sensitive (or not) I am to that aromachemical.
I’m hyper sensitive to it. I mainly smell it in the edp.
Late again. Work has been crazy with people spending this stimulus plus getting tax refunds. Also we are so very short staffed. I only wore some body lotion today. BBW black coconut sands or some such. I was going to layer it with a perfume but couldn’t think if I had a coconut perfume. Does anyone know if I do? Lol!
ELDO’s Fils de Dieu has a hint of coconut in it. Do you have a sample of that?
I don’t have either one.
And Pacifica has a coconut perfume. I’ve seen it at Target every so often.
Not necessarily coconut, but Bronze Goddess sometimes has a coconutty undertone on me.
I believe Terracotta has a bit of coconut.
A crazy stress-filled 24 hours, wearing Dior Patchouli Imperial for backbone.
Hope tomorrow is better foxbins!
Late to the party but wore Chopard Casmir, I always enjoy its vanilla, amber and patchouli charm and a little dab will do ya.
