It's Tuesday, the second day of National Introverts Week, and Jerry Jeff Walker's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Parfums de Nicolaï Vie de Château, in the original Eau Fraîche version, from a terribly old sample. It smells fantastic. Tea at the moment is a mix of Kusmi Tsarevna and Halmari Estate Assam from Upton.
Reminder: 3/19 will be Foody Friday...wear a gourmand or foody fragrance (this is a repeat project from 2015).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Coffee. cinnamon swirl toast. And vanille havane.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm
I had 4 pieces of toast this morning ?
I am so tempted to have toast with marmalade today!
A really good marmalade is so delicious! Just the right touch of bitterness, balanced by all that sweetness.
I love marmalade! An,d not the same, but in the same vein, I’m looking forward to the new Escentric Molecules 01 + Mandarine: https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Escentric-Molecules/Molecule-01-Mandarine-66047.html
Nice fragrance choice!
I bought a bottle…shhhhh.
Oh yum. I have this Cinnabon swirl bread, which is like a poor man’s babka, and it is SO GOOD lightly toasted with a dollop of almond butter!
After months of avocado toast for breakfast I have finally convinced my mom to try it and she is also a fan. Thankfully it has been a great year for avocados! (but I wouldn’t put it on cinnamon swirl bread)
Hello all!
I’m in Jean Michel Duriez Bleu Framboise, lovely rose with a hint of bitter chamomile. Sadly very soft. Has anyone else tried this line?
I’m baking my loaf of bread this morning as I won’t be back home for at least 15 hours. It smells so good, I can’t believe I won’t get a bite before 11PM!
Stay safe everyone.
I really wanted to try it but no distribution in the US.
Yes this was a blind buy. I found it on clearance. I like it in that it fills a perfect rose niche in my collection but I hoped for a bit more.
Your house smells lovely, at the very least. You smell great, if only to yourself. Have not seen this line!
My main draw was the perfumer who did great things at Patou (and who Luca Turin lauds heavily.)
Given the name, I’m assuming there is a strong raspberry note – do you get one? And is fresh/tart or jammy?
(Actually, the name makes me think of those bright blue, sweet&tart blue raspberry Blow Pops that were super popular when I was a kid because they’d give you a blue tongue for hours)
Honestly, it has a bit of fruitiness but nothing overwhelming. Nothing like the shot of musky fresh raspberry flavoring!
I wore TF Lost Cherry yesterday and I am in Ariana Grande Cloud this morning (high-low!). This is an easy CP for me. I have realized that many, although not all, of my fragrances have at least a gourmand note in them.
Yoga, then coffee and I made another batch of my latest favorite breakfast sweet bread, which I posted here before but must mention again: https://smittenkitchen.com/2014/10/carrot-cake-with-cider-and-olive-oil/
Then I suppose I will need to do my work.
Oh, thanks for posting the recipe! This looks delicious!
And forgot to say, regarding the photo above, I’ve always wished I were a twin. Hard for me to imagine what that would be like, but it seems so special!
I did also, it would have been so special, and FUN! Twins run in our family, I have two pairs of uncles and two pairs of cousins who are twins.
I console myself by saying as a Gemini, I already have a twin.
I’m glad you posted that recipe again. I pinned it, then forgot about it. It might be a team project for later in the week. I have leftover cream cheese icing that would go with it… ?
It’s so good!!
I grabbed a quick hit of Smell Bent Florist’s Fridge on my way out to a teeth cleaning appointment before work.
That’s a nice one! You smell great.
So floral, fresh and humid — I really like that one!
? Marco Polo cut with some assam from republic tea
SOTD Allure
Maybe this is old news ? to some of you, but I didn’t know they discontinued Cristalle EdP and that the EdT is moved to online only
Silk pink blouse and frame jeans ?
I ❤️ Allure. Maybe why I like Gabrielle Essence. I find a similarity between the two, with GE being a lighter, brighter cousin.
Have you tried Allure Sensualle? I haven’t but see my comment below
I am so glad I purchased a large bottle of Cristalle edt around Christmastime. I was hesitant, because for years, I just never clicked with it. I think it took me wearing Cristalle Eau Verte to get me to warm up to how beautiful Cristalle is.
I just checked out Chanel online, and no EDP (as you said) , and the EDT is on backorder.
Yes, I am uncertain about EdT future. They are also some others (I commented below)
Hey Assam twin!
tea twins are the best twins!
What?? Ugh. Thanks for mentioning, I may need to purchase a bottle..
Have you looked? the prices on evil bay are crazy
I did! It’s nuts…
Also some other ones that may be on the chopping block are no 19 and Allure Sensuelle. My rep at a department store here in the city said they are moving these to online only (on the Chanel website) and it could be the beginning of the end. They are out of Allure Sensuelle
I hope No 19 does not get discontinued !!
Hope not either. Its sound like it will just go online only, but as you can see with Cristalle EdT…
Oh no! I was just saying I wanted a bottle of Chanel no. 19. Maybe I should act fast. It looks like it’s only available on the Chanel site itself and some department stores. Or the evil bay, but I’m wary of fakes. So many other perfume sites don’t carry Chanel at all, or just have a few of their perfumes. I wonder if any of them ever have sales or offer points or freebies.
Well, phooey on discontinuations and online only sales!
Wearing Chanel good old classic No.5 layered over her limited edition gold sparkles body gel.
Having a cup of jasmine tea
very luxe ?
You know, sparkly body products have never been a big draw for me. But gold sparkly body gel sounds perfect for today — I hope you enjoy every moment of it!
It certainly is helping me fight the weekday blues!
Another chilly morning, but no rain (for now). L’Artisan Arcana Rosa.
how is that one? I’ve wondered about the artisan arcana line, don’t see it mentioned much.
It’s a woody rose, somewhat like Rose 31 by Le Labo. I think the Arcana line might not even be in production any more.
I’m wearing Rose 31 – can we be fragrance cousins?
Absolutely! Same perfumer.
Atelier Cologne Magnolia Sud from a randomly grabbed sample. I probably don’t know what magnolia smells like but in any case this is mostly gauzy rose, and it is nothing special but nonetheless very pleasant, and I love roses so I can see getting to the bottom of the sample, at least.
Or Sud Magnolia, even.
Just as well since nothing ever really smells as good as magnolia blossoms on trees
Woke up in MKK this morning. Have a decant from the Gratte Ceil bottle. Seems a little thinner and not quite as slutty as the older decant I have. Have to spend more time with it tonight. Wearing Apres L’ondee today.
Less slutty? How disappointing
I have a sample of MKK coming – the current version. I will report on it.
That photo is a hoot. To dress the same and wear your hair the same like that as adults, who does that?! Guess that’s why they’re famous but will have to read more.
SOTD: Calling All Angels
Just finished pb&j on toast with Tiptree strawberry preserves, a new brand for me. So good!
I saw the twins many, many times when I lived and/or worked in SF. They had style. Totally stayed in a different era – always well dressed and groomed.
I never saw them when I lived there…
I lived right near MoMA (so not that far from Union Square) and worked downtown, which was likely their territory.
Good morning!
Scent this morning: Nobile 1942 Le Petit Chocolatier 1: Confiture. And cocoa butter lotion on my hands. I smell yummy.
Sounds like you do! I need a good chocolate lotion.
That was your favorite of the set, right?
Hi! I just saw this. Yes, that was the lightest of the three fragrances. To me, it smells the least bitter. They also encourage you to layer the scents, and I’ve tried that with the first two.
Morning all, my SOTD is vintage Chanel Coco EdP, with loads of spices, amber, vanilla, and resins. Sipping on my coffee before I head out of the door! No toast, but sauteed spinach and egg whites. Trying to eat healthy after overindulging on Saturday.
I love the picture Robin! Back when I first moved to SF, I worked in the Financial District, I used to see the twins all the time! Their clothing shop was up the hill (a steep hill on California St.) from the Bank, I used to pop in there all of the time and look at the goodies.
Very jealous of your vintage Coco every time I see it mentioned. ?
Thanks! It is a spicy/resinous beast, that and Opium are very oily and thick. A little goes a long way!
Which only means it will last you longer! So win win ?
I never saw them, but used to read about them, then forgot all about them until I went searching for a good tea image for foody week. And there they were, right at the Library of Congress.
I saw those twins up close in (I think) the big Macy’s in SF (Union Square?) one time in the early aughts. They were wearing some crazy-cute rainy day outfits with coordinating hats, boots & umbrellas. The cosmetics & fragrance SAs were gathered around them, oohing & aahhing. They really were quite charming & vivacious. Local celebs.
What fun!!
Some of their outfits were amazing.
I’ve been noticing the benefits of savory breakfasts – had a wonderful bone broth with wilted greens. It was very satisfying and kept me feeling alert until lunch time.
Wearing Vetiver Tonka, so sort of unintentionally participating in the CP. Coffee with banana bread for breakfast, and I’m already hungry for lunch, which will be leftovers of my shrimp with cashew nuts from the local Chinese lunch place. Today feels a bit better than yesterday, but could still use a do-over.
Now I am hungry for lunch too!
SOTD is Lubin Idole, which is hitting the spot on this chilly day. In the past week, we’ve had snow, frost, hail… proper winter. Glad for the sun today.
You are having all the weathers!
Your weather forecasters must be loving all that activity!
All this talk about bread and toast is making me hungry! I have plans to make banana bread later today so I can freeze a loaf for Easter weekend. We have plans to get together with my (vaccinated) family for an almost one year late celebration of my mom’s 80th birthday. My recipe makes 2 loaves, one of which will be claimed up front by my 16-year old son. I was going to freeze a loaf last time, but the one in college begged me to mail it to him. How can a mom refuse? Wearing Chanel No. 22 now, but planning to change to Chergui later on after a swim (thank you, Hajusuuri!).
Do you have a effective wrapping method for the bread you freeze?
“an effective” — sorry!
I wrap it in a couple of layers of plastic wrap, then aluminum foil. I don’t freeze baked goods too often, but it seems to work.
Got a sample order from Sucreabeille yesterday so I’m trying them out today. Unwittingly participating in the CP with “Beekeeper’s Daughter” which is described as honey, clary sage, fennel, thyme, peach blossom…but reads as pho on me. I’m going to try to wait it out for something more appealing but I keep catching whiffs of myself and laughing.
Sorry Sapphire, this posted in the wrong spot.
Oh my goodness what an imagine, a pho scented perfume! I am laughing too!
Last drops of Rose Velours. It´s really comforting and soft.
Getting lots of vitamin D with sunshine here in Spain. My blood test came low due to winter and lockdown I suppose.
Lucky you, getting real sunshine!! Get that Vit D up
I’ve ways had dreadful vitamin D levels. I think I was a coelacanth in a previous life.
LOL!!
No credits but lots of spring vibes in Grand Chalet. I finally caved in and made it my (max) one perfume purchase of the month which I am allowing myself this year.
Beautiful scent – as I love linden and mimosa it’s doubly delightful to me ?
Nice purchase! I love Grand Chalet.
I may cave and buy it too, eventually.
You smell lovely – Linden flower is an under appreciated beauty.
I’m in Berdoues Peng Lai.
Tonka makes it feel a bit edible.
In Safran Troublant for comfort this morning, watching the frost slowly recede across the lawn, pinballing between helping my son with his remote kindergarten and shoveling what I can out of the work avalanche. In spite of some nice visits with loved ones lately, I’ve been feeling terribly bleak and tense and sad for the past week. Hoping that tea and cozy fragrance can gentle me through today.
Safran Troublant is a good choice for gentling through the day (I like your word choice)! Hope you feel better soon.
Safran Troublant is an excellent choice, be gentle with yourself today.
I hope you can lay low today and feel better soon! Cocooning yourself in Safran Troublant is a good idea.
I hope your lovely scent is comforting to you. Hugs!
Hugs to you, Isabella. You have a lot going on, and I really do sympathize!
Sorry you’re feeling stressed. I hope this week is better for you.
So sorry Isabella!!
Hopefully, your stressors will ease off this week. That is a lot of things to be keeping on top of! Hugs.
Hugs for doing remote kindergarten – that sounds so challenging!
I’ve been feeling very low too and wore Safran Troublant on Sunday. Biggest hugs to you.
Commando so far – my body seems to still be on standard time, but luckily nobody cares if I get up late. Well, Mr. G cares because it delays his coffee-making. ☕️ My arm still has traces of the Soivohle bourbon geranium oil tried at bedtime last night. It’s pretty potent, and the website’s description is spot-on. Tried a spritz of Cuir Ottoman over the oil and that was kind of interesting, but I think the oil might be better paired with something less sweet and more green or fresh or rosy. Will keep experimenting!
Back to report that the bourbon geranium oil is quite lovely layered with Chanel’s Bel Respiro – could have been named Bel Respiro Rosé or Florale or some such.
How did I miss her oils section? I’ll be over there loading a fantasy cart
Hey, load a real one – what’s the worst that could happen? ?
Thanks for your testing notes on the Bourbon Geranium! So far, the oil I like best is the Incense Oman one.
Completely on point with JM Ginger Biscuit…
yes you are
Trying two from Une Nuit Nomade though neither are in my vanilla/gourmand wheelhouse
…Nothing but Sea and Sky and Bohemian Soul.
Nothing but Sea and Sky is citrus, musk and sandalwood. Bohemian Soul is an herbal woods w/ some iris and spice.
Nothing but Sea and Sky veers into detergent territory to my nose almost..maybe the musk?
I use unscented laundry detergent. Many scented detergents smell absolutely terrible to me ehaeehe it seems like manufacturers have added more and more scent to laundry detergents over the years though I can’t understand why.
I’m musk-phobic because of that laundry detergent smell. I’m always in awe of how many products there are in the laundry aisle to infuse your laundry with long-lasting scent.
I don’t remember the laundry detergents that my mom used when I was growing up reeking like some of the current ones do!
Shalimar Eau de Cologne today, from a very much smaller available choice.
I packed up almost all my scents yesterday. The bottles without boxes were wrapped with a bit of bubble wrap and tightly packed into a styrofoam container that we kept from a mail order prescription my husband receives. Those in boxes are packed in a book box.
I kept out a few of my go-to and irreplaceables.
How exciting! I’m sorry I forget the date of your move but if you’ve packed the perfume, it must be soon.
I did that in September when we moved. It was great to spend time with only my irreplaceables. Thise were probably the best smelling two weeks of my life!
Things are getting real if you’ve packed up the perfumes! Good luck, and have a safe move!
I had plans to do gourmands all week – wore Ambre Narguile yesterday – but today I’m in Chanel 31RC. Trying out a sample and I like it so far, a little spritz goes a long way! It almost strikes me as hybrid of Cristalle and Coco, two I really like.
If anyone needs a little distraction today, I stumbled upon this lovely home tour of the British writer Olivia Laing. Her garden and books are dreamy, and there’s even a surprise fragrance bit! Do let me know if you watch it, I’m eager to discuss the fragrances.
https://youtu.be/sE0mYF_nKko
Thanks for the link! I recognize an Ortigia (probably their amber), ELDOs and Frederic Malle. Perhaps someone else has better eyesight than me!
They went by quickly, but I saw a couple of Aesop products on the top shelf.
Good eye, Amyitis!
I paused the video and squinted, Nancyleandros! I spotted Knize Ten and Aqua di Parma, and also I think a L’Artisan hiding in the back. AND, is that a Dior Addict in the right corner?
Which one do you think is hers? I’m guessing the Dior Addict, it seems most unlike the others, yet I don’t see picture her wearing that.
I wish I knew more about her! Had not heard of her before your post, so I’m clueless. I’m sorry! ?♀️
Breaking out my sample of Gourmand Coquin to try since someone mentioned it yesterday. Wasn’t feeling it when I first put it on (expected, I don’t usually love chocolate fragrances), but now that the booziness has come out I’m enjoying it a lot more.
I think this will be my Friday perfume. You smell great!
Chilly, frosty but sunny morning!
Am in Ambre Vanille from Laura Mercier- just the thing for a frosty morning. Having a nice warming cup of chicory coffee and depending on the weather, may go for a 3 mile power walk/run today!
Definitely get cp points for that one! You smell great. ?
Thank you! It’s a lovely scent, I think!
SOTD is Eau de Cartier Concentree from a discovery set I picked up at TJMaxx 15+ years ago. Haven’t worn it in years I think it has lost some citrus over time, bc I am getting much more of the coriander and floral leaf. I used to think of this and the standard Eau de Cartier as crisp, white, button front shirts (this one just made from a slightly thicker cotton) and I would wear one or the other when I went on interviews. Not sure if it is the juice in my bottle or my nose that has morphed, or both, but it is now too coriander-heavy for me to think of it as a crisp shirt.
Did the notes list include musk? I wonder if that burnt off?
They list yuzu, coriander, violet leaves, lavender, cedar, amber, and patchouli. I can’t smell the yuzu and the coriander is more prominent than I remember. I’m still getting the other notes, so I think the citrus just didn’t survive the time (and less than ideal storage) and as a result the coriander is out of balance.
Yesterday was Bois de Violette (SL) because I am still besotted with it from last week, but I guess it counts (I have the violet pastilles in the cupboard to prove it, although I am avoiding them since I broke a tooth by biting one last fall — and yes, it says right on the container not to bite them). Today’s SOTD is Histoires de Parfums 1804. The travel size of this one — which one of you suggested — will probably be my first purchase when I release myself from no-buy land.
Also, since we are on gourmand week, I would like to thank Robin and the other NSTeadrinkers for bringing Upton to my attention. I ordered a bunch of sample packets and small sizes last fall, and we have been enjoying their products a lot. I’ve even found an Earl-Grey-adjacent tea that I can drink with pleasure (St. Isaac’s Blend). Earl Grey generally makes me queasy! I’m about to make the almost-daily pot of Russian Caravan.
Wow, those violet pastilles were really trying to turn that “shrinking violet” reputation around!
You smell lovely–1804 is a great scent but I didn’t get the connection with George Sand. I think I expected a more challenging fragrance for her name and this one is very easy to wear imho.
Oh I’m so glad. Upton is such a great, old-school company. I really like them.
Shiseido Energizing is my SOTD. This is one that I bought about eight years ago, finished a bottle, then couldn’t find it for a few years. I recently found it online and it arrived this morning
Congrats on scoring that bottle!
I was looking for something else in my perfume cabinet when I spotted L’Heure Bleue and my hand went for it. It’s EdP and I’ve had it at least 10 years now. Wow is it gorgeous. Good scent for a thoughtful rainy day. My brother and I are discussing moving our mom from Assisted Living to Memory Care, and also the pros and cons of her having a shared room there. We aren’t sure if she would mind losing her privacy or benefit from having someone else around for companionship and conversation. First we need to know more about the other lady she might be sharing with. It feels like such a major decision.
All this talk of breakfast prompted me to take a picture of mine, simple as it was. You can view it here if you like: https://www.instagram.com/p/CMfP8KZJXlLvzBlL_vgpPb0jQ609nM8TJ5h3-M0/. It was tasty: basted egg on pumpernickel toast with a few strawberries on the side. Hit the spot!
You know I hear you about your mom. Those decisions are never easy, but I know you love her dearly and will make the right decision for her. Big hugs to you.
Wow, that’s a heavy discussion for sure. Hugs.
Your love for your Mother will be your best guide. I went through that recently; assisted living is a wonderful thing when a multi-generational household is not an option.
I don’t know what the best option is for your mother but I know you and your brother will make the right decision. Biggest hugs to you.
It’s a very difficult decision but you know what’s best for your mom and I’m sure you will make the right decision. Glad you’re speaking with your brother, if at least to consult on this.
I grew up with the Brown twins. They were a fixture in SF for my entirely childhood. They were always out and about. You’d see them on Geary Street, or at Union Square. . . Always smiling and happy.
Anyway, in more mundane things, I’m reporting on my SOTM: 10 Corso Como.
And. . . I have an appt this Sat for my younger son and myself to be vaccinated. He has health complications and as his primary caregiver I also qualify. Amazing. Just a little while ago I thought for sure it would be mid summer at the earliest before I got my jab. Wonders never cease.
So glad for you. Sending good health wishes to your entire family.
Congrats on the vaccine appointments. No small feat!
So glad for you both!
I’m so glad you two are getting the vaccine soon!
Excellent news on those vaccinations!
That’s wonderful news! Congrats to both of you.
So happy you have upcoming vaccination appointments!
HOORAY for the vaccination appointments! I hope that all goes smoothly.
In Tea for Two. My only “gourmand” scent, as vanilla and I mostly don’t get along. Although this one is “90s cool girl who just had a smoke” on me. I will be finishing Wolf Hall (Hillary Mantel) tonight and then have the other two books lined up already. Someone here on NST recommended them a while ago.
A very sophisticated read in the Francoise Sagan vein is The Margot Affair by Sanae Lemoine.
And I am finally getting close to finishing Mirror & the Light! I don’t think I’ve ever read anything so slowly in my life.
They are dense books. I often read a novel over a weekend, but Wolf Hall kept me busy for at least three weeks.
Hello Y’all,
It was dark and cold and drizzling this morning, so I’m fighting back with D&G Light Blue Dreaming of Portofino. If we can’t be in Portofino, we can smell like we’re there!
It sounds (and you smell) lovely… ??? Hope your weather is good. It’s winter again here in VA…
agreed! Meet you in Portofino?
Wouldn’t that be amazing? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
My sotd is Prada Les Infusion des Mimosa. I’m utterly in love with this and an FB is on its way. I do have a question that someone here may be able to field: Some people say they unfortunately get a urine smell from this when they wear it. Does it therefore follow that it smells like urine to them when others wear it? I’m hoping it’s only an issue with their own body chemistry…
Good question and I don’t know the answer.
Welp! If I start getting mystery gifts of Depends left at my desk, I’ll know the answer. Thanks, Robin. Hopefully people in my orbit will experience it as I do – -pure heaven! ?
Or, just ask people instead of waiting for the diapers
???
Tea this morning was the usual Taylor’s Assam plus a decaf chai teabag. This box of Assam seems to be lasting forever! Guess I shouldn’t complain.
I participated in a Zoom class on white tea over the weekend. I’ve never been able to brew white tea correctly; it just turned out sourish. Well, it wasn’t me. I think I was just using inferior tea! We all brewed loose leaf tea sent to us for the class, and it was lovely. I’ve been brewing a cup of it in the afternoon since then. It’s so nice to slowly sip a cup of tea and really meditate on the taste of it.
I’m in Montale Chocolate Greedy today, for cp points. ?
Oh, that tea class sounds interesting. Is it an open-to-the-public type thing? I have never been able to appreciate green tea unless it is cut with a good amount fruity/herbal tea (I know, I know “tisane”), but I strongly suspect I am brewing it wrong.
It’s absolutely open to the public! The class was given by The Cultured Cup, a tea shop in Dallas. They ceased the in person tea tastings due to covid, so they do zoom tastings. I have no affiliation with them, just like the people there and their tea.
I’m right there with you on the green tea. It’s usually too grassy and astringent, or something, for me. Maybe I’ll “see” you at a tasting sometime! ?
That tea tasting sounds great!
Green tea was definitely an acquired taste for me. I didn’t care for it the first time I tried it.
That Zoom class sounds interesting. I don’t have a sophisticated tea palate but it’s never too late to appreciate good tea.
I think those twins look really creepy! Like the twins from The Shining, all grown up. Thunking my sample atomizer of Pamplemousse Rose this morning. Leaving beautiful Oahu tomorrow after dealing with what I sincerely hope was a trainee United CSA on the phone yesterday. If she wasn’t in training, I fear for the company because she was clueless and had to keep asking someone questions.
Omg, yes! On those twins.
Wearing vintage Nirmala because yesterday’s Visa made me want to continue with juicy fruits. Nirmala is a fruit salad and of course is the ancestor of Angel so it’s gourmand archaeology. It doesn’t smell old at all or even vintage.
Love the phrase “gourmand archaeology”!
Thank you?
I’m in Burberry Brit Red from an older (but still fresh) decant that caught my eye thus morning. It has rhubarb, mandarin, and vanilla so I think it fits the CP.
I went on a little sample buying binge this weekend and am excited for the samples I ordered to arrive. I ordered 6 samples from L’Aromatica (mainly interested in their Daphne and Kulfi), Zoologist Dragonfly (tried a spritz when it first came out and realized I wanted to check it out again before the reformulation comes out) and Musk Deer, and D.S. & Durga Jazmin Yucatan.
I also ordered three small Chanel decants from eBay: Coco EDP, Chance eau Fraiche, and Allure EDP. I wore Allure in high school and Chance eau Fraiche soon after college and have found myself craving both again lately. I figured I’d start with small decants to make sure I actually want to own them and that it’s not just a bout of nostalgia. And I threw in Coco for good measure because I finished off a decant a year ago and want more.
I love Allure edp – do report back on how it works for you! Also, I recently got the current version of Coco edp, and I just love it. It is a modern perfume – has that airy, “fat-free” quality – but it is a winner.
Wore my mini bottle of Scherrer again, because I really liked it.
And I finally met a friend for a walk, that I have not met since December. Felt good to catch up and chat a bit.
I would love to meet a friend for a walk. That sounds divine.
SOTD = Theodoros Kalotinis Coffee Addict EDP and Vanilla EDT
Humongo Sample purchased all the way from Greece! The layering combo worked and I bet that they will also be fabulously simple on their own. Sometimes, you just want to spritz and go about your day with no fuss.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CMfcjpZB_RM/?igshid=wgk3nhf6dv1c
In other news, there’s no other news because I have to be back doing work work. I will check back later.
Cute mice! And the fragrances sound pretty great, too.
Thank you, Nancyleandros! The fragrances were really nice. I did not get to comment yesterday on what happened to you. Happy you got your first shot but boo hiss on falling and re-injuring your finger. I’ll blame the wild one!
Thanks hajusuuri! I wish it was due to an unruly pupster, but it was something to do with me.
Love the mice! And your scents sound delicious.
Thank you. I haven’t featured them much. I also have 2 more kittehs ? that joined the family.
Curious to hear just how much of a coffee your new Coffee Addict EdP is when you try it solo.
I bet it will be gooooood!
SOTD Lancome Santal Kardamon which to me is gourmandish with boozy cardamom-vanilla, but falls short of being violently sweet.
I am also coveting everyone’s breakfasts!
I’ve had a lovely long weekend back home in Montreal with Mr. Teebear and the cats, and head back to Toronto tomorrow.
Bet the kitties were happy to see you! ?
I hope you have a smooth and safe trip!
Have a safe trip!
Had the gas meter replaced today, and it was almost a non-event. The service person who came by to do it was very polite and efficient. What could have been better was the letter that my utility provider sent about the procedure. Basically, the tech needed access to anything with a pilot light after he was finished to re-light them. Why the bleep didn’t the letter just SAY that?
SOTD = Dior Poison Girl EdP. Orange and vanilla gourmand, but this vanilla is lighter than the one in Mon Guerlain.
I think corporations aim to confound! You smell nice!
Thanks! It was probably a computer generated form letter. Glad that it is over and done with. But it looks like gas meters need to be replaced every 20 years. Who knew?
Wait, there’s a National Introverts Week? How did I miss that? I’m a card-carrying introvert. My SOTD is the new formulation of Cabochard EDP. I’m intrigued by it! Still making up my mind, not sure what I think, but I don’t dislike it.
I am the exact opposite of you. I am probably the only extrovert in my family.
I just did a (shortish) M-B test this week and it turns out that I am an introvert, too — in fact that is my most “marked” characteristic among the four. I guess this is surprising only because I have been with my husband for nearly 20 years, and in comparison to him, I am indeed a social butterfly.
I forgot about Friday’s CP, but I happened to start with Rihanna Rebelle, a chocolate covered strawberry, in shower gel form because I am near a “thunk.” So I continued with the edp for SotD. I dislike ginger, which is very present, but the other notes made it a fun choice, and the ginger eventually fades out. Not sure what I will pick for Friday. I missed yesterday, but want to report what fun I had wearing Replica Bubble Bath, from a kind NST’er. It not only smelled wonderful in a clean but not “fresh” way, but it had great lasting power.
I am not sure what I’ll pick for Friday either, but now you have me dreaming of chocolate covered strawberries
In Carner Rima XI – a spicy gourmand (and 1876 HdP yesterday – who knew there was a Litchi and Caraway perfume?)
Caraway might be one of the few spices that I don’t necessarily want in my perfume. Was it good?
I wore Demeter Sex on the Beach – South Beach (with a twist of Tangy Orange). Found this in my very old stash of things I haven’t worn in over a decade. It’s fun and shortlived like most Demeter scents.
In other “very good news”, my sister texted me to let me know she got the vaccine today. She went to a drive-thru location and was done within 45 minutes of arriving. Timing was everything! The province was wanting to vaccinate due to the high number of variant cases in the area (by age range). First come, first served! And my friend’s father is getting is shot on Friday! I’m so happy and relieved about this?
That’s great! I’m so glad for your people getting shots.
Thank you Sistine!
Enough folks are getting vaccinated now that it sure feels like a hopeful sign. Long, long way to go, though. Congrats on your “people” getting them.
Yes, it’s very hopeful! Thank you. Next should be my hubby’s parents who are in the same province we live. I think they can call for their appointment this week!
Great for your peeps. Who knows where NJ is in all these! That said, I will try to delay getting the vaccine to increase my chances of getting the J&J one.
Thank you. Yeah, I hear ya! Last I saw I probably will be eligible in the early summer, but it is probably changing all the time.
Sometimes you could get lucky, especially if you live near a vax site.
I’ve heard that CVS vax sites in NJ have the J&J vaccine.
That’s great to know! Our mayor has an auto message every Monday and Friday. Yesterday, he mentioned CVS near me is vaccinating by appointment only. I will probably wait for that. I pretty much will refuse to drive more than a few miles just to get the vaccine earlier. Nor will I take the train just to get it — I also qualify for NY whenever my age group becomes eligible with no strings attached.
Yay yay yay for vaccination!
Yes! Seriously!
I wore Rose 31 today. It was so beautiful in the morning, then I forgot about it in the afternoon but now the last part of the dry down is smelling great.
I’m not sure if I’ll participate in the CP – gourmands and I are wary acquaintances. My skin amplifies sweet notes so much that it’s chemical warfare. Any sweet/ foody thing I wear has to have a serious herb or earthy note to balance it.
Never participate in a CP that would make you unhappy!
Meanwhile, you smelled great today. I miss Rose 31.
Bois d’argent by Dior.
I love your SOTD Robin, it smells of summer!
It’s so fantastic. I wish I’d bought some when I could.
SotD = Ambre Narguile
It’s cold here! I was shivering indoors this morning, the floors feel cold even with the furnace running. But the sun is shining, and the house warms up as the day goes on.
Is Ambre Narguile a gourmand scent? Smells yummy to me.
Beware the Ides of March was in full force yesterday morning. I was woken up very very early by someone knocking on my front door. It felt even an extra hour “early” according to my brain, given that we’d changed the clocks forward an hour the day before.
On my doorstep stood a smiling and apologetic electric company worker. He was there to tell me that the scheduled maintenance for the day meant my driveway would be blocked. If I needed my car I would have to park it down the block, out of the way of the crane and big trucks.
Yes, I needed my car so I could drive to my school site to work from there while the electricity and internet at home would be off due to the maintenance. I got dressed, moved my car, and as I walked home, it started to rain a bit. I had not thought to grab an umbrella. Sigh.
At home I shucked off my wet clothes and went back to bed for an hour, got up, dressed, made breakfast, and put ice packs in the fridge to keep food cold while the power was off. Grabbed my car keys, then opened the curtains at the front of the house to see all the maintenance trucks were gone. Poof!
Due to the slight rain, and some very high winds that began in that hour while I was asleep, the electric maintenance work was cancelled. I would have gone back to bed if I could, but I was laughing so hard at the absurdity of my morning I couldn’t have slept again.
tl;dr – stay in bed all day on the Monday after the clocks change.
Oh goodness, what an ordeal!!
That is completely and utterly nuts!
In awe of your chill attitude! Spring forward makes me ragey?
Ugh! what a morning. Sorry, here’s hoping that’s the last of that.
They’ll reschedule and they better give you advance notice! The morning of is not advanced notice. SMH ??♀️.
Shalimar today because Dawn wore it yesterday and made me crave it. Whew, a busy day at work. I was going to cook for myself (my hubs is out of town again) but delivery is looking better and better by the minute…
I vote delivery!
Seconding lillyjo’s vote for delivery!
Delivery for sure!
Smelling great Kelly! Hope you had a relaxing dinner tonight!
Sotd was Cafe Tuberosa.
My Sephora is now letting customers swatch and try make up and spray perfume all by themselves. You must sanitize everything and keep your mask up. It looks like by May here, 16 and up can get vaccinated. My age group is next week, I think. I’m still not doing anything until I have a visit to my doctor next month.
I tested one of the new Jo Malones. Frangipani. It was ok. Also tried Oud and Bergamot, it was not ok. Lol.
You smell great! I love Cafe Tuberosa. I thought the Jo Malones were okay as well. I tried Byredo Mixed Emotions and it was definitely not okay.
I don’t think I’ve ever sniffed that particular JM.
By May 1st, supposedly EVERYBODY over 16 and over is supposed to be eligible ??♀️.
Fingers crossed!
