It's Tuesday and Vita Sackville-West’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Frederic Malle Une En Passant, from an old mini that is no longer in tip top shape, for my President Lincoln and Miss Kim lilac bushes, which hardly bloom anymore because my husband planted a dogwood right next to them.
Reminder: on 3/12, for plant a flower day, name a favorite flower that you grow in your garden (or in a pot?) or that grows locally, and wear a fragrance with that floral note.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Meadow Teapot ("Revel in the beauty of springtime with this gorgeously crafted Meadow Teapot. Adorned with sprigs of delicate blue and lilac flowers, it conveys the air of elegance and charm that comes with the first blossoms of the year. ") from Stash Tea is $30.
That delicate tea pot would be chipped in a week in my house…..LOL It’s so pretty though!
Speaking of tea, wearing Brocard 5 O’Clock My Cup of Tea EdP. This is Earl Grey tea and a vanilla cookies at tea time. Pretty and lasts pretty well on my skin. I ordered it for about $20 from Russia/Ebay, and enjoyed having a package from St. Petersburg show up at my door….
That fragrance sounds like a wonderful, cozy thing! And I agree, fun to get international packages!
The seller also included a Russian candy bar! SO FUN! It was like a fruit pie pastry thing, with a honey filling. Very good but very sweet…and very appreciated!
Fun! I have a former student whose family is Ukranian, and she gave me candies for teacher appreciation one year. They were so yummy, she’s shown up to give me Ukranian candies every year since! Probably not this year, though. I hope she’s doin’ ok! It was nice to have the yearly check-in with her.
I’ve seen listings from Russia on eBay but have not been brave enough to risk an international purchase.
I only use Paypal and Ebay, because Paypal is good protection and is not linked to any of my other bank accounts. The seller I bought from did send tracking information, but of course it was Russian so not much use until it hit the USPS side…..LOL
Other than that, as long as you order and then prepare to wait 3-4 weeks (or longer), it’s fun!
I think Hajusuuri said there was a place in the U.S to get it? If I’m remembering correctly.
Nah, not for this line.
Honestly, it was probably just something I saw in my dreams, lol.
I wouldn’t advise to buy any French or US perfumes from Russian sellers on eBay: in my opinion, too many of those are fakes. But it should be safe to buy Russian brands (e.g., Brocard) because those perfumes aren’t expensive or popular enough to produce fakes for them.
Yay for tea, vanilla and Russia!
Very interested to read about your Russian purchase! Thanks for sharing.
I have some Brocard fragrances that I bought at Bloom Perfumery in London — it never occurred to me to order them directly from Russia!
Robin, are you in a mashup of Une Rose and En Passant? That would be….interesting ?
In Iris Perle, which is confounding me a bit, as I don’t get iris. Think my skin’s amplifying the clary sage.
I feel like the rose would eat the lilacs. Open their big bloomy mouths and CHOMP.
HA, no, just tired! But fixed the fragrance name, thanks for noticing.
Wearing the lovely La Hair Fleurie. It’s cold and grey outside, but this fragrance is able to light op a room! One of JCE’s gems.
Yep, you smell greet!
That was supposed to be great, clearly. ?
My autocorrect does unthinkable things with my comments, so please don’t Worry!
I liked it.
Wouldn’t it be great to compile a book with all those mistakes?
Oh, time to dig that one out! I tend to reach for it more in the summer but it sounds perfect right now.
It is so gorgeous!
You smell lovely!
Thank you!
I love the tea pot, and for something that pretty the price is cheap as chips. I’m wearing Dame Honeysuckle, in memory of the honeysuckle bushes that were removed when whoever owns the lot next to my house cleared the miniature woodland that used to be there. The honeysuckle bushes were right against my fence, and smelled divine in May and June.
It is not a bad price at all! I can’t believe not one of my teapots has broken in all the time I’ve been doing teapot tuesday — really thought I could have bought a new one by now.
Just channel your inner Greek ?
Ha! Maybe I need to start spiking my tea. Hard to build up a good “break things” spirit on just breakfast tea 🙂
I am wearing Guerlain Idylle today.
I have my small bouquet from my daughter’s wedding last Saturday in a vase and I can smell the lily of the valley. I went with Idylle for the lovely lily of the valley note.
What a nice scent memory to have….Congratulations on the wedding!
Congrats on the wedding!
Mazel Tov!
Congratulations on the wedding!?
Congratulations!
Oh nice!! Hope it was a lovely event.
How sweet!
What a perfect scent memory in a bouquet.
Idylle behaves strangely on my skin: some days I have predominant rose with everything else blended; on other occasions, I can mostly smell LotV.
LOTV is my favorite flower IRL. The bouquet sounds lovely, and I hope the ceremony was as well!
I love the scent of lily of the valley. Congrats!
What a wonderful association ?
Your bouquet sounds lovely!
Congratulations! I had lilies of the valley in my bouquet (a long time ago!) and one for my husband’s boutonniere. It’s one of my favorite scents.
Thanks everyone ?! It was a special day. I had never seen lily of the valley in person, until Saturday in my small mother of the bride bouquet ?.
I would also love to see lilac in person.
Prada les infusions Iris, again
The smell is light and clean today. Like a spring shower
tea is matcha latte
Spring is in the air in NYC with warmer temps, joes jeans and a joie silk top, Chanel makeup
Lovely!
You smell fabulous! Are you in the 2007 or 2015 version?
I’m wondering if you or anyone else has a comment about the difference between these 2 versions. I have the 2007 version but can’t find anything on NST or elsewhere about the difference (subjectively) between them.
Fragrantica describes the 2007 as “iris, woody, amber, citrus, earthy, aromatic, balsamic, violet and white floral” and the 2015 as “iris, woody, citrus, powder, violet, amber, earthy, white floral, floral, and warm spicy.” So it sounds like the earlier version emphasizes the wood and amber aspects v the lighter powder and floral emphasis.
Allo,
I had no idea There were two different versions of this! I’m going to go look at my box when I get home
Brand and even line twin! (I’m in Mimosa).
You smell great!
My version of Infusion d’Iris EdP is the original one, I didn’t realize that there was a later version with a slightly different name. I just assumed that what I smelled was a re-formulation of the initial one. But it was a long time ago, so I don’t remember what was the difference.
Scent twins 🙂 I believe I have the newer version.
Ok, mine is Infusion d’Iris not Les Infusions Iris
Does that help?
Yes, thank you for checking!
I’m in Vermillion Pavillion, which is a delicate oud. I chose it because I am hoping that soon it will be too warm to wear even a delicate oud.
I join you in the hope that it is very soon too warm for oud ?
Randomly grabbed a sample vial of ELdO Putain des Palaces, a pleasant variation on the classic rose-violet combo, with powder and a layer of marzipan.
I’m a sucker for a rose-violet, but somehow that one hasn’t ended up in my collection!
Good morning all – rain is in the air, I’m wearing Shiseido’s Murasaki (burgundy bottle). Delicate bouquet of jasmine, gardenia, rose, lily, and hyacinth over orris, galbanum, and sandalwood. This definitely smells like a chypre in the dry down, with added touches of oakmoss and leather. It ‘incense’, but I think that’s the orris root and vetiver.
Brilliantly done.
~Robin, I LOVE that tea pot! I may get out my Royal Doulton Old Country Rose tea cup for later today. 🙂
I’m about to head out for a walk before the rain comes. This week, I’ve walked an average of 7,000 steps every day. I’m meeting my fitness goals. 🙂
Yay for steps…walking and perfume are part of my sanity plan…which is my plan to remain sane. 😉
Lol, I need one of those plans!
Me too. 🙂
I would love to smell this again. Wore it as a student long time ago
That is so funny, because last week I missed my steps two days — VERY unusual for me, it’s rare I miss a day at all.
So I think you stole my steps, ha.
I did! I think it’s easier breaking it up, one smaller morning walk, and a three-mile in the after helped! I think it wasn’t as intimidating, if that makes sense…
Yes, makes sense to me!
“Solid Stepping,” as FitBit would say?. I keep missing my step goal by about 2500 steps. But I get what I can at lunch and by extra trips to deliver documents around the office.
I’m in some skanky jasmine absolue. I always forget the perfumer/house. . . I might remember to update this later with that info. I have two kinds of jasmine in my yard, a very fragrant, white, star jasmine vine and a pink jasmine vine of some kind that was given to me as a “get well soon” gift after my hysterectomy a few years ago. The pink vine doesn’t flower very much, but I like that I’ve managed to keep it alive.
Skanky jasmine is one of my spirit animals! I’ve tried to get jasmine growing in my garden, but it doesn’t seem to like it here.
I love a skanky jasmine!
It’s funny. My dad, who is an amazing gardener, tells me jasmine is super fussy and easy to kill. That hasn’t been my experience at all! I’m a bit north of him, but otherwise, we should have basically the same conditions, and I’ve found it to be a pretty easy-going plant as long as I remember to water it on the hottest days of summer. I’m *not* a great gardener, but I’m good enough to identify when I haven’t killed something and then plant more of it. 😀
It’s pretty harsh here for plants — the ground is either sklorky, saturated clay or a baked brick, and there’s not much shade in my yard. Add in all the deer and gophers and it makes for a recipe for gardening heartbreak!
Oh, that does sound like difficult conditions for planting! Western Oregon is really one of the most wonderful places for gardening. We’re fortunate to have temperate climate and rich soil. My father would say the solution for you is more compost! Always more compost. 😀
My jasmine, a scraggy bush form, clings to life over the Midwestern winter in my laundry room in a giant pot. Then it beefs up and blooms in the hot West-facing porch at my house Spring, Summer and Fall, fragrantly blooming along the way. It is very much appreciated on humid nights when I smell it as I watch the sunset. It was a gift from a coworker’s Mother who was moving and could not take it.
Chanel 19, for the iris note and because I was feeling like smelling classy. Meeting two acquaintances for coffee later today – let’s hope it doesn’t rain during that time since there are no indoor options for us.
Happy Humpy Day and thanks for all the invites yesterday to come plant stuff in your yards :). I should perhaps mention that I’m not the greatest gardener….although I did fertilize all the citrus trees the other day.
Mmm. You DO smell classy!
You smell lovely.
Enjoy your coffee time!
thanks, I did – just got home after 2 hours of gabbing!
Coffee and friends and No. 19! That’s a new normal I could agree to?
I’m in Santal 33 for another sunny, gorgeous day.?
Got an email that my bottle of Maelove The Glowmaker is on the way. Excited to give it a try. Has anyone else tried this serum?
No, but I’ve stalked it and thought about it! I’ll be curious to see if you like it.
I’ll let you know!?
No, but it’s been on my radar. Please report when you’ve tried it!
Will do!??
I’m on my seventh bottle of the Glowmaker and I love it (obviously).
It does brighten my skin plus I’m sold on the antioxidant properties of its star ingredient, Vitamin C. I apply it first thing in am after washing my face (with water only); it absorbs quickly and does not interfere with anything I place on top of it. For me it’s only mildly hydrating (I need other layers of moisture, especially in the winter) but that’s not it’s primary function. Each bottle lasts me about 3-4 months.
Oh, this is good to know! Thanks!
We had a proper downpour here during breaksfast and I swear I can hear the earth’s gladness! I’m in Beige today, which I avoided smelling for years because “beige” = “blah” in my lexicon, but it’s such a great springtime floral.
The anemones and California poppies in my garden are still firmly closed and sleeping on this rather dark morning, so I think that means I can stay in my snuggly cashmere sweats until they open?
You absolutely can! Even longer if you want – your secret is safe with us! 😀
Cashmere sweats sound like perfect at-home wear!
They’re pretty dangerous. 😉
I honestly don’t know how I’m ever going to get back into slacks again. I bought some really comfy, durable leggings at the start of pandemic life, and they have become my go-to wear. Not sure they help me look like a teacher, though!
Revisiting some decants/splits (before the dreaded evaporation) and wearing Santal Kardamon and Oud Bouquet today….they are not unalike. 😉
SK has leather whereas OB has oud and more vanilla…but similar vibes. Something in SK reminds me of old school Cacharel LouLou somewhat.
Have a PT consultation on Thursday. 🙂 My neck has been a bit sore since I have been no longer been wearing the collar the past week or so. Everything is atrophied and my neck/shoulders/upper back probably weren’t in prime condition to begin with. Hoping to improve my range of motion and get the therapist’s analysis.
Also wanted to see if anyone is doing the Sniffapalooza Diptyque virtual class on Thursday please? I will be. 🙂
I am ?
I didn’t know this was a thing. Thanks for the tip! Wish I had signed up in time for the diptyque class but I’ll have to wait for a future one.
I suggest you follow them on Instagram as they post an announcement as to when (usually “tomorrow”) they will drop the sign up email. I’ve been successful for the last 2 (Diptyque and Harmonist) and whenever they do that, check your email every 15 minutes starting around 11:30 Eastern.
Thank you!
oh yeah… I should wear all my decants before they go off/evaporate. Yeah, that.
[scribbles notes to self]
Sorry to hear about your neck. I’m sure the PT will be helpful.
Glad to hear that you will be having a PT consult about your neck.
Had a busy day at work today but because of that the day passed quickly and now I look forward to my training before I relax for the rest of the day.
My new flacon of Prada Amber Pour Homme has arrived today. It’s my backup bottle since current one is almost empty and if I count correctly this will be my 3rd bottle of this perfume.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CMNCSAOBp-4/
SotD is Prada Infusion d’Oeillet
Curious whether you’ve ever had an opportunity to compare the Amber Pour Homme against either Prada’s L’Eau Ambree or the Amber Pour Femme?
I did have a decant of L’Eau Ambree and it was much more ambery resinous, without that soapy cleanliness of Amber Pour Homme.
Thank you! I have L’Eau Ambree and like it well enough, but haven’t run across the Homme – “soapy cleanliness” sounds like it skews rather masculine, which I usually like.
I find it stunning and still quite unique for mainstream. Imagine the most luxurious barbershop soap.
Against all odd L’Eau Ambree is wonderful on men.
Hi Lucasai – I’ve thought about getting the Oeillet because I love carnation. How would you describe it? I remember other NSTers liking it and thinking it was one of the better infusions flankers.
If you hop on to my blog you can find a review I did some years ago 😉
Thank you!
I don’t have a blog about it, but it’s my favorite infusion! A modern, airy (but lasting) carnation.
You smell great! That’s a good one.
Thanks
My dad is having surgery today needing to have something removed and I am at home with the dogs. SOTM is Cormandel but taking a shower soon since I did some cleaning. It’s warm enough here to have a few windows open to air out the house a little bit. Thinking of either Happy today or Pleasures. Looking for something easy to wear today.
Sending hugs and warmest wishes for a good outcome and speedy recovery for your dad! Be gentle with yourself today.
Best wishes for your dad and yay for open windows and fresh air!
Sending healing thoughts to your dad.
Hope your dad’s surgery goes well!
Best wishes to your dad for speedy and comfortable recovery. Yay for open windows!
Best wishes for a good outcome for your dad.
Best wishes for your dad! ?
Sending healing vibes to your dad! Wishing him a speedy recovery!
Good luck to your dad, and you smell great!
Sending best wishes to you and your dad!
I hope the surgery went well!
Good luck to your dad on his surgery!
Prayers for your Dad and you smell wonderful if Pleasures; I don’t know Happy but I love EL/Clinique.
SOTD is TF Violet Blonde, although I have neither violets nor cedar in the yard. Maybe I’ll plant some violets this spring – will have to read up on what conditions they like. In other news, I’m scheduled for my first covid vaccine tomorrow! Oregon has a kind of lottery system, and my registration was pulled for appointment-ing yesterday. Got my first choice of time-slot too! Am excited and anxious … hence the violets. 🙂
Yay for the appointment.
I don’t have any plants around here as I’ve pretty much killed every plant that had ever been in my possession. I have just been picking a perfume with a flower note and giving myself credit ?
LOL!
Johnny Jump-ups (the little violets) will self-seed in the right locations here and become part of your lawn/garden, if you’re lucky!
Oh, good to know! There are several places in the yard that could be good for that kind of thing – thanks!
I love them and think they’re so sweet! I succeeded in getting some little purple and yellow violets seeded into my front yard at the last house. I found them so cheery! I hope you get them to take hold, too!
My grandma used to say that if you pick a few everyday you will have more the next year. I have no idea if that is true but she always had a tiny little vase of them on her kitchen window sill when they were in season.
Love that!
HURRAY!
I am still on a waitlist!
I am old, grasshopper. 😉 I’m lucky enough to not have any particular health concerns, and just got old enough to be eligible for vaccination last month. Mr. G has to wait a bit longer for eligibility – he’s a year behind me.
🙂
Glad you are getting this all the same!
I’m not on any list yet but I will try for the J&J when it becomes more common in these here parts.
Hooray for the vaccine!
Best wishes for your appointment tomorrow!
Hurray! Good for you, getting your first shot!
You smell wonderful. VB was one of my all-time blind buys/thrift finds/love-the-bottle trifectas.
I meant to go with a spring flower today, but I unearthed a sample of Jubilation 25 while digging for something else. I smell very classy for today’s activities.
I also caved at the very end of the Beautyhabit sale and ordered a bottle of Diptyque Eau des Sens. It was definitely a perfume therapy moment, but I woke up today with no regrets.
Oh nice, enjoy your new bottle!
Happy Tuesday and happy first vaccine day to me!! Sooooo excited.
I’m still wearing Stephane Humbert Lucas 777- Une Nuit a Doha from my LS sample pack received last week and really liking it.
Hope it went well!
Hooray!!
Yay, congrats on vaccine #1 day!
Yay for the vaccine appointment! Curious to know whether you have any fatigue or other reactions, and if you do, which manufacturer’s version you received. I’m getting my first tomorrow and have no idea which version it will be – all I know is that it’s one of the dual-shot ones.
I’m getting the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon after work. Will let you know, but I expect to feel tired at least. (I didn’t feel very well after either of my shingles shots so I’m prepared just in case.)
I hope it went well!
I’m preregistered (health condition) but still waiting for an appointment.
The governor keeps re-allocating our health district’s supply to more densely-populated areas, so who knows when we’ll get some more vaccines?
Mals, nice to see you!
We are the opposite, our vaccines are all going to less populated areas of the state.
Yay for the vaccine! I feel like a weight has been lifted since my second shot.
Congrats on shot #1!
Congrats on the vaccine and you smell great because you’re in one of my absolute favorite scents!!
Yes, you get the enabler pin for my sample order of this one! It’s wonderful.
Whoo hoo on getting your first shot!
Bumps slightly sore shot arms with you for happy Shot one!
Copying Robin in En Passant. I have no lilac bush, but there was one in my childhood home backyard. I adore fresh lilacs.
Made my drive safely and efficiently back to NYC. I skirted around Chicago via 294, which was actually a breeze. And I chose the perfect place to spend the night. Very long first day, but that just meant good sleep. I spent much of the drive listening to an old series of podcasts on the history of Rome. Made it up to Hannibal’s big defeat of Roman forces in 216 BC.
Yay – happy to hear that you are safely there.
Glad to hear you made the drive safely! Seemed like good weather, here anyway. When do you make the final move?
Right after Easter.
Hooray for the successful drive back!
Yes! Car did fine, except a light went on for passenger side airbag. So, I have to take it in on Friday to be checked out. Sigh.
Hopefully it’s just the light that says, “hey, we’ve turned off the airbag on this side because there’s no passenger in the seat”. That’s what my car does.
What Sheri said except now I should really pay attention to the exact words!
Driving is so stressful! Glad the trip went smoothly.
I’m glad your drive was safe and smooth. That sounds like an interesting podcast!
Nice! And I have been meaning to listen to that podcast forever, but I never catch up on podcasts.
Glad to hear that you got back all right!
Covet for the lavender in my alottment and because it feels like spring.
Nice!
SOTD = L’Occitane Immortelle de Corse
A discontinued gem: honey, immortelle, iris, benzoin.

In other news, I binged watched Antiques Road Show over the weekend wherein all episodes were highlights from shows from 10-15 years ago and showing a new estimated auction price. One particular antique owner was very happy with the auction price and said “I am speechless!” ?, then proceeded to talk up a storm. I suppose I could have muted my TV but really, why is it that someone who is speechless actually speak more than those who are not?
Yep, you smell great!
Thank you!
Very elegant owl today! It’s carved soapstone, isn’t it?
I don’t think it is soapstone as it has a different feel than the red owl from yesterday.
You smell great, I have a bottle of that too and I can’t understand why they would discontinue it.
The good ones seem to get discontinued quite often.
CdG Luxe Champaca EDT today for some fuzzy, slightly sweet radiant floral surrounding me. Even though it’s EDT, it’s got great presence. I should be thunking my decant today, and I’ve already got a bottle waiting in the wings.
Woohoo on the thunking. I am considering thinking the samples in my samples carousel but it would feel too limiting. I think I will pick 1 to thunk per month.
That’s a good goal!
Continuing my personal Iris week with Infusion d’Iris today.
Got shot#1 yesterday, which was quick and easy. Have some soreness in that arm but nothing debilitating. It’s nice to be able to see an end to this on the horizon.
Hooray!
Yay!
Huzzah for shot #1!
Congrats on shot #1!
Yay!
SOTD is “Freckled and Beautiful”–coming dangerously close to ordering a full bottle. Anyone want to split?
I loved reading about Vita Sackville-West when I was a teen. My 1990 edition of Passenger to Tehran has an introduction by her son Nigel Nicolson (who must be long dead by now)–but one day I will search out early editions of the volume. When I was in college I had a poster on my wall featuring the often quoted Violet Trefusis, who was Vita’s lover and wrote in a letter to her:
“Be wicked, be brave, be drunk, be reckless, be dissolute, be despotic, be an anarchist, be a religious fanatic, be a suffragette, be anything you like, but for pity’s sake be it to the top of your bent — Live — live fully, live passionately, live disastrously if necessary. Live the gamut of human experiences, build, destroy, build up again! Live, let’s live, you and I — let’s live as none ever lived before, let’s explore and investigate, let’s tread fearlessly where even the most intrepid have faltered and held back!”
Yes! Amen!
Love this quote.
What a great quotation!
That’s a great quote. Thanks for sharing it!
Awesome quote!
That is such a sweet teapot!
Forgot to comment my own SOTD yesterday which was tinking my little sample of Musk Deer from Zoologist.
Today I’m in Jardin Retrouvé Sandalwood Sacré which has orange blossom and petitgrain, and reminds me of my grandmother who was able to retire in Florida for many years with her prized orange and grapefruit trees.
No gardening for me presently unfortunately. Our apartment balcony is quite small, and we have our cats inside – who are normally not that naughty, but who I discovered the hard way find digging in potting soil an irresistible temptation!
Our cat is the same way. I no longer have houseplants and fresh cut flowers are a thing of the past because he can’t resist shoving a vase around. He’s worth it though, most of the time.
My current two cats aren’t houseplant compatible, either.
Work is insanely busy and hectic
SotD is Safari,
Gosh I love this scent so much, designer scents used to be so good back then.
The scent also reminds me I am more than the videocalling Jira/Excel/Outlook junk I seem to be right now ??
Safari smells so outdoorsey. Dont know if its just the name..but the scent feels so lively and happy!
ADORE Safari. It smells green up top and then sort of sun-baked, later.
Ha! Yes. Sun baked…thats a perfect description.
?
Sorry, junk=junkie (though in Dutch a junkie is also called a junk…hence the error)
?
Ohh, I adore Safari!
You smell fabulous!
Not so much a spring flower for me, more a late in the season full-blown rose – Tom Ford Noir de Noir.
So long as it’s a flower in your yard or near you, it counts!
I’m wearing SL Datura Noir because when I searched for fragrances with a lemon blossom note, it turned up–and in fact was the only one on the Basenotes list that I own. Sure enough, I can detect the delicate note, though it’s mostly hidden underneath coconut and vanilla. I really would like a fine, gorgeous, potent lemon blossom scent! Any recommendations? This is in honor of the beautiful potted Meyer Lemon Tree that my neighbors have on their porch. I sniff it every day on my way to the mailboxes. Last year or I guess earlier this year it produced just two lemons, but right now it is just covered with hundreds of blossoms! Wow! Inspired by them, I just ordered one for myself, a rather small one in a pot that I hope will do as well as theirs. (They took it inside during the big freeze.). I’m excited!
On a less positive note, I’m taking my beloved calico cat Kayla to the vet this afternoon. She’s had some lumps on a couple of her mammary glands and they’ve gotten a lot bigger lately, and she’s losing weight. She’s 15 and things don’t look good, though she is still eating well and purring and enjoying her usual cuddles. I’m feeling worried though.
So sorry to hear about Kayla. That sounds worrisome indeed?
Hoping for a Good outcome for your cat.
Have you tried SL Fleurs de Citronnier?
No I haven’t tried that one, and only saw it today when I was looking at that list on Basenotes. So now I want to! Have you? Any thoughts? Thank you about Kayla. Here’s hoping.
Although it’s lemon at first, it becomes an orange blossom quite quickly, it’s pretty though.
I think I have SL FdC. Let me know and I will check and send you a decant, Calypso kclberry in the world of Netty scape Dotty net.
*snuggles for Kayla* Let us know.
Meyer lemons are the best!
I hope Kayla’s diagnosis is easily treatable.
Sending hugs and chin scritchles to Kayla.
Fingers crossed that your kitty Kayla’s vet appointment went well!
I hope Kayla gets a treatable diagnosis.
I would love to have a lemon tree. Not happening. But passed several witch hazels in bloom on a walk this evening, and have been meaning to buy some for ages — I should do that.
Do let us know about Kayla!
Positive vibes for Kayla kitty. The only lemon blossom I have is SL Fleurs de Citronnier. I find it very clean/soapy.
Thinking of you and dear kitty Kayla…..?
Have barely worn perfume for the past couple of months because of sunscreen but today is rainy so I’m going to go see the USA Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor. Sampling Mardi Gras from Olympic Orchids which would fit the project–I bought Hawaiian vanilla extract at the farmer’s market and I’ve seen local oranges there too. I guess Hawaii is one of the few places in the US where vanilla would count for this project
Ginger too…
Hope Hawaii is treating you well!
SOTD is Dries Van Noten because yesterday my husband was sawing wood for a project and the smell of sawdust reminded me of it.
I bet you smell great.
DVN smells great but I am allergic to something in it as in it sucked up the air around me. I had to double bag the atomizer and throw it in the trash that’s as far away from me as possible.
In Jasmins Marzipane which is less nutty today and more floral which is fitting.
Nice!
Thank you, I like this one very much but it’s a shape-shifting perfume.
Sotd = Infusion d’Iris EdT
Jumping on the iris love train that started yesterday. I adore this scent, perfect for a day when I want scent that is comfortable but not boring.
LOVE the teapot up top today. When I was about 12 years old my mum asked me to choose new colors for my bedroom. I chose a wallpaper that had a white background with a pattern of flowers, all in shades of blue, very similar to the florals on the teapot. WANT. 😀 But I shall resist.
Dooooo eeeeet. Mwahahaha!
You smell great!
thanks for the encouragement. 😀 I’m thinking it might be a “meant to be” kind of thing. I do love teapots.
Enabler alert: if you go to the website, there’s a matching mug!
Participating in my personal twist on the CP theme: flowers I wish grew in my garden (well, tiny backyard patch). Wearing Prada Infusion de Mimosa from a sample. This is my second sample of it, and I still like it. Probably I want to get a bottle. I wish they had 15-30 ml bottles. Or at least 50 ml. Because I don’t need another 100 ml of any perfume in my collection at this point.
Fragnet may have 8mL minis. Failing that, you know who has a 100mL bottle.
I’ve been testing some fragrance oils today that have been sitting around, not being used. Nemat Vanilla Musk and Amber. Both are very soft and easy to wear, so I’ll be using them as a bedtime scent.
Afternoon!
Am in a combo of Bohemian Bluebells from the Jo Malone X Zara! Very pretty & fresh, but does not last more than 3-4 hours before a touch up.
Getting the stairs and upstairs measured for possible new carpet; that stimulus money is already SPENT.
Sounds right for Jo Malone — 4 hours might be better than many!
Late to the party. I had a crazy, busy day at work. I am glad the day is almost over.
Wearing Blackbird Y06-S, banana, jasmine, coconut milk. One of my summer favorite scents, but I was craving for it badly today.
Beautiful day today! Sunny, breezy, 65 degrees! I am planning to grab an apple/ carrot juice at the health store and head to the park for a long walk before the sun is gone.
Happy Tuesday, everyone! ?
Your SOTD sounds like it would make for a fantastic smoothie!
In honor of today’s springlike weather, I’m wearing vintage Diorissimo. Loving that LOTV. Although I can’t grow any plants, my aunt had some LOTV growing in her yard, and I remember smelling it as a child. Mmmmmm…..
Nice…I have a huge patch of LOTV so I could wear that tomorrow!
I went with Atelier Iris Rebelle today after seeing the Iris leaves starting to peek up from the mulch in my backyard. The daffodils in the front are really popping up. It’s nice to be outside without the heavy coats!
I took a walk after work and was glad to have worn my heavy coat unzipped.
I am the absolute worst gardener/ plant parent (but I’m a great entomologist!). I’m wearing Las Flores by Provision Scents today, which smells like what would be growing in my garden if I lived in Malibu. It’s nice to read about other people’s gardens!
And I am a crappy entomologist! I mostly know the bugs that make it inside my house: phorid flies and stink bugs.
Gorgeous and sunny weather here today!
I have a question for the gardening folks here: what time of the year do you plant iris? I’ve thought about putting in a couple of plants in pots if I can find dwarf varieties of iris. I remember the purple ones of my childhood getting up to 3 feet tall, and I’m not sure I have space for something that large.
SOTD = Scentgrrl Tilting At Windmills Cologne by Liz Zorn, from the indefatigable Sample Stash.
I’ve heard of Sample Stash ? but not Scentgrrl Tilting at Windmills!
Scentgrrl was a side project that Liz Zorn did for a short time in the last couple of years or so. Not sure that line is still around.
Hi! There are many kinds of iris; the tall ones you remember are probably bearded iris. There are some dwarf bearded iris. The really dwarf ones are iris reticulata and you grow them from bulbs, normally planted in the fall when the bulbs are available. They need a period of some cold, but if you’re able to find any bulbs for sale now, you can keep them in a refrigerator for a bit to mimic that. Dutch iris also grown from bulbs and can be planted in fall or spring; they get about 18″ to 24″ tall. I also grow iris tectorum in my garden; it is sometimes called Japanese roof iris. It stays about 15″ tall, and it spreads.
Thanks! I bet that you are right about the irises of my youth being bearded ones. Purple, with furry yellow stripes down the middle of the “petals”. The flowers had the most wonderful scent.
I will keep my eyes open for iris bulbs/rhizomes in the fall!
Schreiner’s Iris is one of the best iris nurseries and catalogs around, and their website is addictive: https://www.schreinersgardens.com/tiny-tots-iris-collection
Wearing Bee today. I ended up with most of the remaining sample on me. It’s gorgeous! I’m getting a bit of beeswax and smoke underneath it all.
I don’t have any matching flowers in my garden but am hopeful that what I plant this year will bring the bees like last year. I noticed them huffing a long time on the zinnias and geraniums.
I have a lone lavender plant in a pot on my front steps, and the bees definitely show up when it’s blooming.
Hello, lovely people! 🙂
Scent of my morning: Lavender essential oil diluted with a carrier oil — probably jojoba — on my hands.
I’ve tried growing lavender once or twice, but not for some time. I just have a lot of health and beauty products scented with lavender. 🙂 Jalapeno, could you e-mail me a picture of your lavender plant when it blooms?
More of the snow in our yard has melted. I found more places where daffodils and crocuses are coming up. I’d gone to Home Depot yesterday, and gotten a spiffy new pair of grass shears that actually work, so I spent some time carefully trimming the grass around the leaf tips of the bulbs.
I will try my best to get a decent picture of it. That poor plant is kind of homely. Quite a bit of it got killed off by harsh winters, so it got a really bad haircut.
Infusion d’Amande yesterday (my neighbor has an almond tree blooming and it hangs over our fence…that counts, right?) and totally off theme today in Dark Amber & Ginger Lily today. Both days are REALLY hitting the spot.
Does your neighbor’s tree smell good? Inquiring minds want to know!
I like your perfume. I ended up getting 5 of the minis.
Tiffany &Co. for me today! The weather was bright, warm and sunny, so that was perfect.
And it has a lot of iris in it, which I do grow in my garden. I’ll have to wear Ostara later this week, though, as my daffodils are in bloom and so are my neighbors’. One of my favorite flowers!
You smell nice! I have to pull mine out – I have a FB of one and a mini of the other and I don’t recall which is which.
Masque Madeleine this morning, now in Diptyque Eau Duelle. I was sure I had posted this morning but it appears I didn’t!
You smell nice!
SotD Opus III. Never knew I loved violets so much until I met Insolence. Now violets both elegant and brash captivate me. Needed something soaring like the Amouage to overcome dental work and a shortened lunch break today. DH had dental goings-on too
Hope the appointment went well. I like fatty-smelling violets as it tends to smell like orris but once they get into lipstick territory, I get really picky.
Hopefully neither one of you had a root canal today!
SOTD was Regime de Fleurs Gold Leaves. Both the RdF marketing and Fragrantica mention pittosporum flowers, but I have no idea what those smell like. I get mostly white flowers, with a little cedar and amber as a backbone. I don’t get the laurel or bay leaves, which is too bad because I’m curious as to how that would play against the white flowers if they were evenly matched. Going to retry this sample again in the summer heat to see if the herbal notes come out more then.
(Posted a day late, but wanted to keep up with my notes on the RdF samples)
