Almost-Friday plus National Toast Day and George Harrison’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Brin de Réglisse, which has been in the back of my mind since springpansy wore it on Tuesday.
Reminder: 2/26 is Levi Strauss Day. Along with Jacob Davis, Strauss invented and patented the riveted blue jean. Do what you like with the theme.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the "Denim jeans in cotton with contrasting "Chaine d'Ancre" motif (100% cotton)" are $1,525 (yep) at Hermès.
When I think of Levi jeans I think of San Francisco. As an ode to the Bay Area I am doing a week of Henry Rose scents.
SOTD from Henry Rose is Queens & Monsters. The only thing dark about this fragrance is its name. A woody, zesty blend of sandalwood, neroli, and freesia. Its very delicate and I am happy freesia doesn’t make a strong appearance. If we are friend on IG I gave my opinion on the few that I like from this house.
Not in Levis today but a brand called Frame, they are gray and plaid

What a cute pair of jeans! Adorable!
What are you thinking about the line of Henry Rose scents? Does anything in particular stick out as a ‘must have’?
Honestly ST-no.
I like Dark is Night and the one I am in today is very delicate and pretty. If I bottle fell from the sky I would wear it but I wouldn’t invest in a FB
Have you tried any?
Or anyone?
I haven’t tried any of the scents. I do think the Fog sounded interesting, but I’ve spent my Q1 budget already so I’d better behave myself…. 🙂
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrllllllllllllllllllll. These are winging their way across the country to me even as I type!!!

congrats!
Every day is toast day at my house, usually my home-made challah. Today’s toast was with salted Irish butter, almnd butter and raspberry jam.
Perfume is Wazamba. 🙂
Yuuuummmm!
Ohh, your breakfast sounds delightful! And I love Wazamba!
Love Wazamba!
Wazamba is great.
Perfect !
You are eating and smelling fabulous!
I’m all in on National Toast Day! Toast and I have refound each other this past year… 🙂
SOTD: Montale Vanille Absolu; when only a really boozy vanilla will do
(I hope some of this wears off before my husband gets up)
The bag of samples I mentioned below has Montale Vanille Absolu in it! I’ll have to try that soon: I do love a boozy vanilla.
It’s insane.
You smell great!
You smell great…I got a FB of that one early in my Vanilla Quest. 😉
Incomprehensibly I found *another* bag of samples, a Perfumed Court collection called Fabulous Vanilla, nine of them. I’ll be finding samples until the day I die at this rate. Anyway, I’m wearing I Profumi di Firenze Vaniglia di Madagascar, which is such a dark burnished mahogany colour that it has stained the plastic stopper and dabber: oxidation? or is that the way it always was? The scent is a slightly powdery, extremely rich patisserie vanilla and it does not change much from start to finish, so you have to really love this sort of thing. Luckily, I do.
Lol.. I had to ship off my bag of samples last year. They were going to go bad if I didn’t make a move. Hope you find a winner or two!
Aren’t you a CSP fan as well?
Desperately. I have at least eight of the vanillas — no wait, at least seven, because Vanille Amande died an undignified death last year (it literally coagulated). Orange, pineapple, peach, apricot, cinnamon, amber, and chocolate, plus ancient decants of raspberry and pitahaya. I *might* be forgetting one or two. And I love them all.
If you haven’t yet tried them I highly recommend two great more recent vanillas: A ce soir by Pont des Arts and Vanille Havane from Les Indemodables.
Oh, joining you in finding a bag (in my case, a box) of samples. A few have gone off – I need to use them or lose them….
I think it must have darkened with age, as vanillas do. My newer bottle is not that dark.
Yes, exactly. I love aged vanilla. I’ve had the pleasure of assisting a perfumer in the past and having access to vanilla bean tincture. Just gets better with age!
Yay for found vanilla!
I love brin de reglisse! It smells like hay to me? Or at least what I think hay smells like.
Today I’m wearing DS and Durga x Duran Duran Come Undone. It smells like spit! Which I guess makes sense, since the first line of the song is “my immaculate dream, made breath and skin”. I wish I could try them all!
Hay to me smells like a light earthy tobacco leaf.
There’s something in the base of DS & Durga perfumes that make me wrinkle my nose and I could quite put my finger on it — maybe it’s a skin / warm body odor…almost like most of the Francesca Bianchi perfumes.
It smells like hay outside in the sun 🙂
Wow, forgot about those Duran Duran scents. So is it fun?
Well, I wouldn’t call it fun! Its very green and grassy, I think this one is probably more masculine leaning. I bet Hungry Like the Wolf is fun, though!
Thanks. It was such a good idea, that set.
Good morning Y’all,
I got a sample of Michael Kors Gorgeous! in the mail last night, so I’m test driving it today. Reminds me a bit of Rebecca Minkoff with the tobacco note….Not bad, but not something I would probably need a full bottle of….(and I like Rebecca Minkoff way better!) 🙂
Nice! I long believed I couldn’t do big florals until I discovered the MK Michael, such a glorious stemmy tuberose. You smell wonderful! 🙂
I thought of wearing a perfume with “blue” in its name. Should I go for my new L’Ivree Bleue tomorrow guys?
Today I’m in Le Labo Iris 39 which is neither blue nor denim related, teehee…
Yes on L’Ivrée Bleue!
You smell good today and your Ormaie would be perfect for tomorrow!
Ormonde Woman, which I find fabulous and don’t wear often. Happy Thursday!
I just read that Disney’s California Adventureland will reopen mid march – a limited number of people will be able to stroll the park and buy food, but no rides. Sounds kind of cute…many years ago, we would go to Disneyland in March for our spring break. I miss that spring in SoCal feeling.
You smell great! My bottle of that only has about 10 ml or so left…I should really work on using it up.
For some reason I thought they were going to close down for good, which would be a travesty.
Sotd: Samsara, one of those scents which is beautiful, that when I put it on,I wonder why my restless soul seeks anything else; then, a little later I wonder what else at is out there that is equally amazing.
Thanks for reminding me to dig out my bottle. Samsara is awesome!
+1 for this!
I feel the same way, only about Shalimar. ❤️
Still doing too many fragrances at once. Today’s crop includes: Rose de Jamal, Cuir de Chine and Oriental Velours. I’m getting quite obsessed with Cuir de Chine. Ideally I would travel to Annecy and get a bottle in person. ?️??⛷️?️?
Those 3 were towards the top of my faves from the line. However, I still haven’t tried the Vanille Havane that everyone raves about. I am not easily won over by most rose perfumes, but I think Rose de Jamal is beautiful.
The vanilla is gorgeous.
the set has arrived ??
Cuir de Chine is one of my favourites as well!
Yep, I’m enjoying them a lot.
Love Cuir de Chine best too! It’s a great osmanthus.
Counting the days until we can do that…
It would become my fourth or fifth Osmanthus. It is very lovely. Still need to try a few more.
Early on this morning I’m in Bucoliques de Provence because its label colors are kind of denim-blue. Not sure if I’ll respritz it post-shower or switch to something more cleverly jeans-related – my brain is still waking up. Got close to ten hours of uninterrupted ? and feel great.
Love, love, love Bucoliques.
And ? on the sleep!
Sleep GOALS!
Spent a good chunk of this morning on the phone and managed to get an appointment for a doctor on Monday to hopefully get that prescription refilled. I am happy that progress was made. Wore Lyric through it. Since I have showered, I am in no 22 edt. I will be sleeping better tonight knowing I have that appointment.
That’s great news!
Glad to hear that!
So glad you are able to speak to a doctor!
Yay.
Good news today!
Tried to drain a decant of Tommy The Girl, which would fit the CP. But although I drenched myself there is still something left. Maybe I will thunk it tomorrow.
When I want to get rid of things I spray my shower curtains. 🙂
Sadly I have none, but nuce idea
I like that idea. I have some stuff that would definitely be good shower curtain material.
HA, now that would piss off my family! Maybe I will do it one day when they have pissed *me* off.
Tommy Girl was the first perfume I thought of for the challenge, but I haven’t had any in many, many years. That was one of my high school staples.
Hello all!
Hoping to have a quiet day in Une Voix Noire, which I think pretty nearly divided people. I personally love it’s elegant yet humid glow.
Stay safe all!
You smell wonderful, love Une Voix Noire.
Morning all, I’m experiencing rare perfume indecision – so I closed my eyes and reached for whatever my hand landed on. In this case, it’s Courreges in Blue by Courreges. Powdery, spicy, aldehydes, white florals, and greens.
I am super sleepy, my HR class went until 9:45 last night, I am ‘not’ a night person. I will take my time with coffee and get down to business in a moment. 🙂
Turns out our faucet is broken (hot water side only), so the plumber will return next week to install a new one. I think our landlord likes having a contractor living in the building. When she mentioned purchasing a new faucet, Kevin replied her current should still be under warranty, the company should replace it. He’s also fixed the security door on the laundry room, the front door to our building, upgraded all the locks, installed a security camera, security door to the kitchen, and peep hole. We’ve been here a month. 😀
You must be her favorite tenants now.
I hope so!
Go, Kevin! I need him for my house. ?
Exactly! When people learn he’s a contractor, I joke that I break things and he fixes them. ?
Yes, please send him over for a few days!
Wow, time flew as I thought you have been in the new place for no more than 3 weeks!
You getting that labor knocked off the rent?
I realized my comment above implied that our place is run down, it’s just in need of a few updates here and there, but overall, it’s actually pretty nice. Since I knew Kevin is a fix-it kind of guy, I negotiated up front for first month is free rent.
I knew Kevin would make upgrades (he did it to our previous apartment and he built and renovated his mom’s house, the house we lived in for 13 years, previous to that). Having a project keeps him occupied (and out of my hair)…
That is so awesome! A month of free rent and an occupied hubby = perfection.
Today, my SOTD is Robert Piguet Calypso.
I am trying to go through my perfumes to find the “perfect” scent to wear to my daughter’s wedding in a little over a week. Last night, after a shower, I put Shalimar lotion, topped with the edt on one arm and AG Nuit Etoilee edt on the other arm. Then, I also had a squirt of Hermessence Muguet Porcelaine behind my ear. I then asked my husband which one he liked. He loved the Nuit Etoilee and Muguet Porcelaine. I was like, “hey, what’s wrong with my Shalimar??” lol.
I personally love Nuit Étoilée.
Me too
Nuit Etoilee is one of my favorite scents. I have a backup bottle. I don’t see it on AG’s website anymore 🙁
Maybe the Shalimar got lost by itself as a lotion but actually enhances the other 2?
Maybe so. If I do choose Shalimar, it will be the perfume extract, layered with the lotion. Maybe a tiny bit of the edt also. I will try not to overdo it.
What will the bride be wearing/
Geir Ness Laila — her favorite.
I’d go for the Nuit Etoile: Shalimar might seem like an aromatic upstaging.
2nd that, and good thinking Dilana.
Nuit Etoilee would be a lovely choice.
I’m still testing :).
After a shower tonight, I am trying Chanel No 18 on left wrist and No 5 on the other. Also Hové Camellia and Quelques Fleur on upper arms.
Cool and windy here, but the power stayed on thru the night’s ‘wind event’, so yay for that!
No scent yet, still working thru samples. I have tried 77 samples since Saturday! There is light at the end of the tunnel! My method is to put each sample on a test strip; I work with 5 or so samples at a time. I sniff them several times over a multi-hour period, and then move on to the next group of 5 samples. If I really like the scent, I set it aside for re-testing on skin. It’s possible to get thru the sample stash, people, it’s really possible!
77!!!! You are a sampling tornado!
You’re inspiring! Every spring I go on a sampling spree in a sort of spring-cleaning mindset, and it’s time for me to get that process underway.
This is inspiring!
Wow, good job! I usually end up giving mine away because I can’t get around to trying them all.
Wow!!! Dedication!
I am absolutely gobsmacked at the thought of testing 77 samples in such a short time. ?
Have to dig out a pair of jeans for tomorrow. I’ve been living in cashmere and wool sweats, so comfy. Nowhere to go, but why not dress up a little?
Burned raisin bread toast, so breakfast was a short break.
SoTD is Aftelier Bergamoss. Big grass/hay blast, a little bit of soil, lots of green and sunshine. I like it. It reminds me of the way little kids smell when they come inside after playing out of doors: like dirt, metal, and grass.
No ideas for tomorrow though …
I am still in jeans most days and have to remind myself that I could wear sweatpants if I like, so we are opposites!
You smell lovely. I have that one, thanks to a very generous NSTer. Need to wear it more before the weather gets much warmer!
Oh I LOVE toast! I have some Ezekiel English muffins just waiting for butter and jam. But I also have muesli that I made last night to soak overnight. What to do, what to do. Both, of course! 😀
I’m in PG Bois Blond again because I can’t get enough of it right now. It’s a great denim fragrance.
Had half an Ezekiel yesterday topped with almond butter. Ever since Robin mentioned pistachio butter, now keeping my eyes peeled for that.
I buy it online and have never seen it in person. I have only tried one brand, Fastachi. It is delicious but very low (or no? can’t remember) salt and I sometimes add a pinch of salt. I also like their mixed nut butter — that is usually what I put on pancakes.
Eventually I will try other brands.
There are a number of Italian pistachio spreads or “cream of pistachio”, but many of them have sugar and some have vanilla, etc.
I’ll admit to being a sucker for pistachio creams, especially the “Pistacchiossa” one from Zingermans. It’s only very lightly sweet.
I am pretty sure I would be a sucker for them too, which is why I’m not buying any, LOL… I have enough sugar sources already 🙂
SOTD MFK Grand Soir.
On my second cup of coffee and a toast with black pepper whipped cream cheese and thin slices of smoked salmon.
Busy day working on a deadline to be met no later than 1pm. I feel there will be big issues after the expeditor receives and reviews the documents in half hour for her meeting with the examiner at 2pm. It hasn’t been easy to coordinate with the whole team, especially when we got a 24 notice for the deadline. But management doesn’t care about it. So stressful, but I will survive!
Happy Thursday! ?
Best of luck. At least your breakfast sounds amazing and you smell wonderful as always. And those are Good Things!
Thank you, Springpansy! Everything went relatively smooth.
Good luck powering through the day! It’s almost the weekend. ?
Thank you, Tulipani! Counting the hours for the week to be over. ?
I hope you meet your deadline… there should be a some margin for error given if they only give your team 24 hours.. That sounds tough! At least you smell amazing.
Than you, Cicely!
There were a couple of objections from the examiner. Not as bad as I was expecting. We are already taking care of it and getting ready to submit again.
Glad to hear that you met your deadline! And I was envious of your breakfast… so much better sounding than my usual granola bar!
Thank you, Jalapeno!
I am trying to indulge in savory breakfasts now, once I am back to the office in late Spring I won’t have time for it anymore ?
Today I’m wearing Ava Luxe No. 23, from the little bottle I tend to hoard. This is one of those perfumes that I genuinely worry about running out of. It’s long been discontinued, and I’ve emailed the perfumer a couple of times, asking pretty pretty pretty please can I get another bottle, to no avail. However, since I managed to thunk my Gobin Daudé decant of Jardins Ottomans last week, I figure I should keep on wearing the perfumes I love, and to heck with the worry.
Toast. So simple, yet so delicious, and the perfect vehicle for just about anything.
Yes, ditto. I’m almost out of my Bois Blond decant (my SOTD). And it’s been dced as well. But I’m going to wear and enjoy while I have it!
I’m turned off by Ava Luxe for pretty much no customer service.
Oh, you smell wonderful, I loved that perfume and also Madame X.
I reached for No 5 edp today, which I guess is as dependable as a good pair of jeans.
I think I’ll copy some of you and go for something with “blue” in the name tomorrow.
Loving this sunshine!
I am going for a similar idea tomorrow, but more low key…perfect year round scent to wear with jeans and a t shirt.
Heh I think I may know what you’re going to wear tomorrow, but we’ll see.
🙂
And I was wrong! I thought you were talking about Infusion d’Iris.
Which would obviously be in my top 3 contenders! So I am still predictable.
I thunked my sample of Dryad this morning! I guess it could fit the CP, since it seems to be as dependable and wear-everywhere as a pair of jeans…I have worn jeans for most of the past 12 months.
I have too!! The few times I remember to wear sweatpants I ask myself why I am always in jeans, but here I am one year into covid, still in jeans.
Sampling Vanilla Smoke today thanks to a generous NSTer, and it’s cracking me up — since I frequently have a post-shower base-layer of Tauer Wowilla oil on, and am semi-frequently in smoky environments, I smell like… myself! Or rather, like one of my T-shirts. I do like it.
I wish my everyday life smelled like Vanilla Smoke. So often it’s dirty snow and red bull ?
Pretty sure that’s a Demeter fragrance, right?
Maybe if Gallivant ever gets around to Anchorage!
Did you sample the EDP or the Extrait? I prefer the Extrait but the EDP is also pretty good except for the bandaid note.
Thunked a sample of Byredo Seven Veils today. Still have about 3ml left of it in a decant though. I really like it but not enough to seek out and pay for a bottle. Byredo has it listed as available in store only. I also noticed when on Byredo’s website how much their prices have gone up. 50ml bottles of their core line seem to run $190-$210 now.
I’ve been thunking like crazy lately. I keep a baggie of samples with 75% or less left in them on my bathroom counter so when the mood strikes I can pick one and dump the rest of it on my arms. Dumping almost full sample vials on oneself is a good way to get longevity and projection out of samples haha. The row on my shelf of almost-gone decants has been steadily getting smaller too (until I dig around and replace them with more older decants).
When you run out, I’ve got a couple of shoe boxes filled with vials over here……
OOOF! Shoeboxes! That’s A LOT of samples!
Heh I have most of my samples organized in baggies alphabetically by brand, and I’ve been rifling through them at random every month or so and adding to the bathroom baggie. One day in many years I may see the end of them!
Wearing Bon Parfumeur 402…notes are vanilla, toffee, sandalwood.
Have follow-up x-rays and doc appointment this afternoon and feeling kind of anxious. Trying to muddle through work meetings and I do mean muddle ehaeheh 😉
Good luck for the appointment!
Thank you!♥️
Sending you good doctor appointment juju!
Thank you!♥️
Hope that your appointment went well today!
Thank you, Jalapeno!♥️
Cute jeans!
I’m in Stash. Sent a friend Perfume Boy’s review of it, and noticed that he mentions a flanker, Stash Unspoken (dumb name!). Anyone tried the flanker?
Yes, and I really like it (though I don’t like Stash). Stash Unspoken is a sunscreen scent: coconut, white florals, tonka.
That sounds lovely! There seems to be a number of flankers with different perfumes now that have this airy, sunscreen like feel. I tried the newest La Vie est Belle flanker, Soleil Cristal, and it has this accord.
Guess we are all craving vacation in a bottle!
SsOTD are Kat Von D’s Sinner and Saint. My samples appear to be the 2017 relaunch. Sephora must have thrown these in as a freebie at some point. Saint is meh, I can see someone liking the gummy peach + musk combo, but it doesn’t do much for me and lasted all of two hours. Sinner I don’t like at all. I get bad stale cigarette note in the mix. Reminds me of goth friends from high school (mid-late 90s) who would come back from lunch smelling of cigarette smoke and the perfume they used to try to cover the smoke smell.
The appeal of Sinner is to those same Goth Girls back in the day who grew up and want that ‘subversive’ scent from high school. It ‘s the same demo that KVD makeup appeal to as well!
Oh, yes. It is definitely on brand.
Good morning, everyone. It’s the first day since November that it hasn’t been pitch black on my way in to work. Not gonna miss the six month winters up here. I’m inviting spring with a generous spritz of Unum Symphonie-Passion, thanks to the lovely pl67. A very green, stand up straight vetiver.
Nice — morning light matters!
Enjoy! ?
I’ll stop complaining about our six months of frost; at least we have light!
Hurray for longer days!
Forgot to say that you smell wonderful, Robin. Although I mentioned how soft it was, the day I wore Brin de Reglisse it lasted most of the day in a lovely understated way.
🙂
CP credit with a side wink. ?
Wearing Equestrian, even though Levi’s are not the preferred brand of my family in Montana. They prefer Wrangler and Lee jeans.
I do remember loving Levi’s at some point in my life, but it has been a very very long time!
Late to the party!
SotD is French Lover
Fits the spring weather we are enjoying right now ?
Lucky you!
SOTD is VCA Bois d’Iris. All the reports on thunking samples have inspired me to wear some later today, so I might be piling on more scents!
I love VC&A Bois d’Iris!
I’ve been craving No. 5 so it’s my sotd and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
You smell glorious!
I crave No. 5 sometimes, too. 😀
Wearing a Grossmith sample, Phul nana. I have been really intrigued about their perfumes but they are so expensive and difficult to seek out!
It’s really vintage smelling, reminds me of a smell from childhood, maybe grandparent soap. Nice and appreciate how it’s composed but would not wear myself I think. I want to smell the others!
I did not love any of the first 3, and don’t even know how many they make now.
Friday Eve!
1) SOTD is LM Ambre Vanille. I am still warm from my mid morning strength workout so it is radiating fiercely!
2) I am so excited about this new J&J vaccine!
I am excited about the J & J if I can have one 🙂
SotD = Hiris
Hiris, it’s a mood. 🙂
I think I need to binge on iris scents for a while.
Wishing everyone a Thursday-blursday that brings something to feel thankful for.
I thought I read “it’s a mood” and I was right!
Lots to be thankful for including how great you smell!
aw, thank you, hajusuuri! 😀 Iris always makes me smile.
Feeling grateful that you mentioned iris and more than happy to join you in a iris binge, starting with Iris Nazarena. Thank you for the inspiration!
yes to Iris Nazarena! 😀 It’s a beautiful scent. Glad you joined me in iris love today.
Enjoy your iris binge!
thanks, Jalapeno! Iris scents tend to be binge-worthy, imho 😀
Amarige Mimosa 2009 today. I got my income tax refund and promptly spent part of it on Dapper’s neuter surgery.
Yay for pet speutering! Glad your tax refund could go towards something useful, but hoping you have a little left over to treat yourself at least.
Hope that Dapper comes home after the neutering feeling all right.
I don’t have a toaster (long story) but made my challah bread (french) toast this morning).
SOTD = Providence Perfume Co. Moss Gown
I believe I mentioned here that my preference for a split is always to keep the bottle, even if I am purchasing the split from someone else. This was one of those occasions when I could get the bottle without committing to getting 60% of the perfume. Moss Gown is an earthy green and woody floral, perfect for the transitional weather peeking through!

In other news, for those who follow Kafka, you can follow her adventures with her new German Shepherd on Twitter @apollogsd – I think she’s met her match in dog form ?.
I love this picture! It’s the perfect color green.
It definitely is a perfect green. I was at Boscov’s and happened to pass by the sale table and the first thing that popped up was wow!
I read her post last month. He is a beautiful handful!
Oh he is ?
Thanks, I didn’t realize she was blogging again.
Also re: your comment on the school district reopening 4/12, a friend mentioned that she heard they have go in person by 4/15 to avoid losing out on funding. 😉 ?
She was sporadically blogging. Apollo is her new project!
Boo hiss on picking the last possible date to not lose funding…shows their priority
This week has been a good one for wearing those kind of “awakening” perfumes.
Yes, although now I am waffling over tomorrow…
I’m wearing Tuscan Leather today. Denim and leather make a great couple!?
Yes they do! Very rock & roll! ??
You know it!
Nice! Do you find that it leans masculine?
Surprisingly, I do not. I dab it though, so that might make a difference.
I’m in Lime Basil & Mandarin, for the third time this week, I think. Spellcheck is practically typing it out unbidden at this point. It’s an accidental cp point for me, since this is turning out to be as comfortable and easy to wear as a old pair of jeans. ?
That JM is such a refreshing one in warm weather!
Another warm and sunny Winter day, plus a haircut day! Whoo hoo! A good day indeed! ???
In an interesting twist, the salon I go to is right by my county’s vaccination Super Site. My hair stylist has said that has been the busiest thing in the entire mall. ?
SOTD = Guerlain Apres l’Ondee EdT, from the sample stash. The sample is about half used at this point. Maybe I’ll be able to thunk it sometime this Spring? ?
Congratulations on the haircut! I’ve started cutting my own in desperation (“I couldn’t make it any worse…”), and while it does look better than it did a few months ago, I’m not looking forward to my hairdresser’s politely-but-barely-repressed opinion. She induces the same sort of guilt that dentists do — whatever I do to my hair in between visits is *clearly* not adequate.
I’ve had a few times in the past when I’ve trimmed my bangs out of desperation. Desperate times call for desperate measures. At least I haven’t buzzed my hair off with a pair of clippers!
I’m still putting off my haircut but will have to start to strategize…primarily via taking a day off
When my hair starts tangling, I know that I can’t put off a cut any longer. I hope that you aren’t dealing with anything like that!
Nope, my hair is just looooong!
Apres L’ondee always makes me smile. 😀 SO Pretty!
I cut my own bangs two days ago. Just took a whack at ’em with super sharp scissors while looking in the bathroom mirror. Got lucky, I don’t look unhinged (yet).
This weekend I’m going to bribe a family member to cut the rest of my hair. I think a pan of brownies will do the trick. I need a chin length bob, not a shoulder length bob.
I’m late because I’m off and on “attending” a philosophy conference this week. My SOTD is Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection from ELDO. It’s a happy scent with a juicy pretty rose. Can other people tell the difference between types of roses in scents? This is Bulgarian, many are Turkish, or other. I’d like to get better at this. Any advice?
Today was warm and muggy and gray. So many many plants are brown and dead outside. It’s depressing. My elderly Chinese neighbor had a beautiful orange tree hung with fruit but it looks like a goner.
I’m not into the CP. I’ve never liked jeans. I’ve never looked good in jeans or had a favorite pair. The very label “a comfortable pair of jeans” is alien to me. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me!
I’ll be “attending” a conference this weekend, as well, and I’m not sure how I’m going to cope with an 8-hour Zoom meeting. In-person conferences involve hallway gossip and catered lunches, at least…
The individual rosy-nesses in my overly large number of rose perfumes are all quite distinct to my nose, but I can’t say that I’m any good at identifying actual varieties. Unless you turn me loose in my actual garden! 🙂
I can tell the difference between actual roses, but not a particular sort in perfumes. I was aware that my ‘Ispahan’ rose (a.k.a. ‘Trigintipetala’) was a kind used to make attar of roses, but some of the folks here said it was the Turkish sort, and not the Bulgarian sort? (Or the other way around? Darned if I can remember…) And Crabtree & Evelyn specially made their “Evelyn” rose products using the David Austin English rose ‘Evelyn.’ And I really liked their rosewater and Damask rose products, too. (Why did you have to get rid of the classics like that, C&E?)
TL, DR: I have no useful advice there.
Amid the human suffering I saw on the news about Texas, I also had thoughts about how many tender plants must have frozen. It must have been rough on gardeners and farmers, too. I imagine there will be some starting over with individual people’s garden plants and with crops.
Sort of connected with the first topic, a number of the “gardening in the South” books I’ve read say that a rose identified as ‘Carefree Beauty’ does very well in Texas. It was introduced by Griffith Buck of Iowa State University and intended to be extremely winter-hardy in the north, and healthy in general. Probably also not particularly useful commentary from me, but maybe a rose for gardeners to look for, considering that it’s hardy in quite the range of climate zones and conditions.
Still nothing especially new and interesting to report perfume-wise for me, but Toast day was a day I could celebrate. I went with cinnamon-raisin toast with peanut butter and raspberry fruit spread. That was my delicious little celebration. 🙂
Today I ended up smelling like LUSH honey products, and also their “Charity Pot” lotion.
