Happy Almost-Friday! It's also Drink Wine Day and Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (why not do both), plus we have a few birthdays: John Travolta, Yoko Ono, Paco Rabanne, Toni Morrison, Louis Comfort Tiffany. (And if like us, you are getting more snow: happy snow day and hope you have power). What fragrance are you wearing?
For today's image, I went literal: Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Bleu.
Reminder: on 2/19, we're doing the Picture Challenge, edition 6. Wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is The Girl by the Window by Edvard Munch, 1893. More reading here; larger copy of the image here. New: more background in So Typecast You Could Scream at The New York Times.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is detail from Kiss by the window by Edvard Munch, 1892, via Wikimedia Commons.
Back to Bruno Fazzolari with Ummagumma.
SOTD: Philosykos EDT
Yes, more snow.. sigh. Feeling for all those in TX — wow! what a mess. Family in Houston and Austin both doing OK but one has taken in friends and the other keeps sending pictures of playing in the snow 🙂
Texas, seriously! I listen to an Austin radio station all day and they just reported a local hospital that lost all water pressure and is having to relocate all the patients. Been thinking about all the Californians that supposedly moved from Bay Area to Austin area in 2020.
My Random Sample Grab put a vial of Ormonde Jayne Tolu in my hand, and… it’s just amber, right? Or am I missing something? I mean, it’s nice, but I look at the list of theoretical notes on Fragrantica and I’m not really seeing it. It’s amber. It’ll do on a cold cold morning.
I know people love Tolu but I always found it claustrophobic to wear, same with OJ Woman. (sorry, fans)
Me too. I cannot bear any of the OJs.. Instant scrubbers. Smell of bandaid with a few dampened notes underneath.
Wish I’d known that it’s Ice Cream for Breakfast Day before I dutifully downed a bowl of Raisin Bran.
Drink Wine Day is also resonating with me, but again with the duty thing, I’ll just have a second cup of coffee for now.
We’re getting freezing rain here. I’m wearing Arielle Shoshana Saturday.
You smell great! We also have freezing rain.
Thank you; hope you are staying safe and warm!
Hi honey, it’s so nice to see you here. I miss you and the whole DC gang! I’m looking forward to the days when we’ll all meet again.
Gosh, I miss you all so much, too!! Better days are ahead, surely…
Haha!
What’s all the fuss with Grape Nuts cereal? Evidently, there’s a shortage? What is this world coming to!
I read about that! I love Grape Nuts but haven’t eaten them for years. Now I want some ?♀️
I haven’t either, but grapenuts on ice cream was a big thing in my house when I was young.
That’s how we ate them too. When I had them for breakfast, I would pour the milk on them as I made coffee, then go shower and dress. Then they’d be soft enough to eat.
🙂
The Grape Nuts shortage has become a national issue:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/12/us/grape-nuts-cereal-shortage.html
I like how they refer to it as “the polarizing cereal.” ?
D) Fortunately (or not), I don’t think the Raisin Bran supply is threatened. Like Ringthing and Robin, I haven’t eaten Grape Nuts in years, but now they’re on my mind…
When I was pregnant, hot Grape-Nuts (the milk was hot) and a little peanut butter helped me feel better in the mornings!
This sounds SO good! Grape-Nuts is the one cereal I can eat soggy 😉
You’ll break your teeth on Grape-Nuts if they’re NOT soggy 🙂
LOL! Grape Nuts was one of my dad’s favorite cereals when I was a kid. I could never understand how he ate those little rocks…
Wearing Tom Ford Fleur de Chine.
Busy morning with work, so no breakfast, just grabbed my second cup of coffee and I am adding half scoop of vanilla ice cream for ” Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day”. I will have early lunch instead.
Another snowy day ?☃️ and more in the forecast for next week. I will not complain. It seems like the more I do the more it comes, so I will just ignore it.
Happy almost Friday, everyone! ?
You smell beautiful! I save FdC for what? Idk.. but I think now that I will wear it tomorrow!
Thank you, Lillyjo! I have a couple of TF decants that I am always hoarding and as you said, for what? Time to start enjoying them before they evaporate!
Not much snow for me today. But it was the wet, heavy stuff. No pretty powder this time, either.
We got beautiful powdery snow most of the day and then ice for a couple of hours late in the afternoon. No rain. It stopped already, but it is very icy slippery outside.
My area had snow for a couple of hours this morning, then it seemed to alternate between snow and sleet for a while. Finally it switched over to all sleet right before all the weather left. No rain for me either.
I’m working from home due to the ice storm that was predicted to hit – virtual ice day? This makes more sense than the virtual snow day, because we now have 1/3 students back in school buildings, so sending buses out in ice storm conditions would have been a terrible idea. Of course, the ice didn’t arrive.
My SOTD is the Different Company’s Bois d’Iris. It just seemed like a perfect choice.
I just got an email from L’Artisan offering me the chance to buy a surprise gift set in the scent family of my choice for $105, contents to be revealed when I open it. Sorry, but for $105 I want to know what’s in the box before I buy! Guess I’m not a gambler at heart.
Stay safe, warm and fragranced!
I wouldn’t take that gamble either!
That’s really interesting, wonder how many people will buy a set not knowing? But also a good way to get rid of random overstock, I guess.
You smell wonderful!
I dont see this Bois d’iris mentioned a lot here (its mostly the Van Cleef & Arpels one).
I tried the VC&A Bois d’Iris, and i see why its loved but it is too powdery and too sweet for my taste.
About to head out into the snow to my sandwich-making gig. My guess is I’ll walk two blocks and decide a bus makes more sense than the full mile walk. It looks pretty blowing out there. But, I’ll enjoy wearing Fresh Cream Soft Suede. Will keep me nice and cozy.
Only made it to the Subaru dealership. Spent a long time there with a very nice salesman and test drove a Forester and a Crosstrek. The latter is more my style…I’m used to smaller cars. But the former is a more likely candidate. Roomy, comfortable and very solid feeling. We just have decide how spendy to be in model trim. Sigh. Cars are so expensive.
I have friends with a Forester and friends with a Crosstrek–they are both super happy, so I feel like you can’t go wrong, at least.
I have a Forester and I love it!
Did a test of Mitsouko EdP vs EdT this morning, and liked the EdT much better.
Later decided on 3 sprays of Air de Rien. Made lentil Bolognese with linguine for lunch,, which made the boyfriend happy and did a walk to the drugstore in the afternoon. Still feeling exhausted after that, but it’s getting better every day.
Wow, that sounds delicious. I’m glad you are making progress every day, that must be encouraging.
Happy to hear you’re getting better every day! Has your boyfriend’s sense of smell and taste come back? I’m assuming so, if he’s enjoying your cooking!
We both never lost it. He had no symptoms at all.
Oh good!! I must have mis-remembered!
Glad you’re feeling like it’s improving each day!
Your bolognese sounds great! And glad that you are feeling better every day.
Glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to cook and get a bit of exercise.
Wearing Imperial Opoponax again. We got plowed out yesterday so it’s a day with mom. She’ll be wearing Adam Levine Woman again.
Yay for getting plowed out, and enjoy your day with your mom!
Wearing PG Bois Blond again because it was so great when I wore it a couple of days ago. Ice Cream for Breakfast day? Right up my alley! However, today’s breakfast dessert (after my oats), will be the other half of my chocolate brioche from yesterday. 😀
Chocolate brioche! ?
Yesterday I walked to a local bakery to pick up some whole grain levain. And the brioche called to me as well!
Happy almost-Friday.
Wearing Nishane Nanshe today
PLUS! Bought my bottle of Ormaie L’Ivree Bleue <3 Hooray!
Ooh, congratulations! I will pull out my sample for tomorrow! Is this an uncharacteristic early birthday present to yourself?
Thank you.
Yes, yes it is! (LOL, crying in laughter)
Bravo! (Thinking of you laughing makes me happy.)
🙂 🙂 🙂
Congratulations! Is this your birthday present?
It is 🙂
Yay on your new bottle!
Congrats on your new birthday bottle!
Congrats! Enjoy your birthday present!
SOTD Amarenthine
I think this one disappeared from the line up.
I’m so glad I snagged a bottle before it was discontinued. It’s really lovely!
Gorgeous perfume. It’s a pity that one was d/c’ed.
I am SO TIRED. I joined a new high priority project at work, and this project has 10 hours per week of SCHEDULED meetings, plus at least another hour of unscheduled surprise meeting each day. Then someone asked me to join a meeting at 5am tomorrow morning (they’re in a different time zone). I’ve declined it and wonder if anyone is going to get upset. But I just can’t right now. I woke up with plasma and ions floating around behind my eyes.
I’m in Rose Barbare from an extremely generous NSTer–this is a scent of which I nearly bought a travel spray during my last trip to Paris (three whole years ago! I haven’t not been to Paris in this long since the first time I ever visited, now half a lifetime ago!). I ended up not getting it because I was spending too much, and have regretted it a bit ever since. But this decant has now erased that sorrow.
If only it could also erase the sorrow of having joined this project.
Argh. Good for you for declining the 5 a.m. I think we really have to set some boundaries. I really dislike it when there are so many meetings I can’t get work done.
(But you do smell amazing!)
Exactly, right?? When am I even supposed to do the work that we will discuss at the meetings?! Ugh.
Good luck Koyel — hope that is not a long term project?
Well…the project was supposed to end by the end of January, so…. >.>
But thanks!
Ah memories. Sounds like my work life used to be.
Here’s a hint on the 5am (4am) (3am) (2am) meetings: I came to realize that if I declined absurdly-timed meetings the organizer would pursue me to find a day/time that would ‘work’ for me, which was never going to be possible given the time difference between their site and mine. So, if it wasn’t actually an important meeting, I just didn’t respond. They’d have the meeting without me, I’d read the notes later, and if I had any input (rare) I’d just email them. Problem solved.
Also, if you need blocks of time to actually do *work* (what a concept!) just put fake meetings on your calendar (and set up your calendar so others can’t snoop it).
These days I just have to be concerned about my cat demanding meetings in the wee hours. Unfortunately he does not respect the sleep blocks on my calendar.
I love it! These are both excellent ideas. That does seem to be the only way to get any work done. (And I’ll have to look into how to make sure my calendar is private!)
Apologies for the cat, but it just can’t be helped 🙂
I used to use these same techniques, sage advice.
Good luck with this new project and intense meeting times. I’ve been there (during the first couple months of the pandemic), no fun!! At least you smell wonderful, mentally transport yourself to Paris!
Thanks tulipani, that’s great advice to let myself follow my perfume back to Paris 🙂
Oh dear, that’s a crazy workload! Good for you on saying no to taking on another commitment at a heinous hour.
Thanks, teebear, wish me luck on holding firm to my principles!
s/principles/sanity/
Sorry about the horrible project, but at least you smell great. 🙂
Thank you, I really do 🙂
Morning everyone, my SOTD is a blast from the past – New West For Her, very old bottle. Top notes are off but the mid notes and dry down are still as they should be. 🙂
I’m eating Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream for breakfast with a very strong cup of coffee. My stomach feels better and I may head out for a walk at noon.
I went through more than one bottle of New West.
And envy your breakfast!
Briefly popping in, as am in the midst of hiring for a couple of temp positions, and reading nst during off hours. Am wearing the spine-straightening No. 19 in order to be a proper Executive Lady, albeit in my dining room…
Good luck on the hiring AnnieA!
I’m scenting today’s picture in Kiss Me Tender.
Perfect match.
Thank you – it certainly was easy!
Wearing the tiniest spray of Coco Mademoiselle Intense today. Spent an hour blocking numbers on my phone. Those tax scam things and people looking for someone else. Got a new book today. The author is Caitlin Dougherty and it’s called Smoke Gets in Your Eyes. Can’t wait to read it tonight.
That’s a great book. Caitlin also has a YouTube channel.
Just started Anxious People, Fredrik Backman’s latest, and our company’s book club pick. Kind of a strange story so far but just started.
I’m embarrassed to say that I’m trying out Coco for the first-ever time today — such oversight in my perfume education! So far it’s rubbing me the right way on this grey and chilly day. Following up my morning coffee with some Simpson & Vail violet tea, which I was hoping would be a replacement for my beloved, discontinued Kusmi violet, but is much more subtle.
I’ll join you in your embarrassment, Isabella. I haven’t even smelled it. If they don’t carry at Sephora, it’s not accessible here, and with Chanel notoriously stingy about samples and decants…well. I actually almost blind bought it last week looking for some retail therapy.
I’m already regretting giving up non-essential purchases for lent…
Even more embarrassing:
I grew up studying ads which read “Every woman alive wants Chanel No, 5.” Since the tag line was accompanied with a close up of Catherine Deneuve, I figured she really knew about being a woman, and Chanel No. 5 would be a rite to adulthood.
Now here’s the embarrising part.
Everytime I sniff Chanel No. 5, it reminds me too much of my childhood, specifically baby shampoo. So I do not want Chanel No. 5.
Oh, and I did not grow up to resemble Catherine Deneuve in any other way,
I’ll confess here that I actually, literally carry around a small, nagging internal burden, in which the fact that I have not yet learned to love No.5 means that I have not yet, somehow, successfully achieved womanhood status.
Wearing my Scentbox pick this month, Alien eau Sublime, a lighter, citrusy, springtime flanker. Unfortunately it’s below freezing and we got more snow so I reached for this because it was new and shiny but it’s just not doing it for the mood. I’m not feeling very springy and fun. Sorry sweetie, it’s not you, it’s me.
Last few days we’ve finally been making solid plans to leave Alaska. We have a timeline, a budget, confirmation from my job that I can transfer, we’re just trying to decide whether we want to drive through Canada with a trailer (cheaper, more adventure, more stressful) or barge our stuff and take a ferry. Big things happening!
Ooooh! Where to?
We’re looking to settle in the Portland/Vancouver area. We both have family there and miss the rain.
Oh how fun! Good luck with all the planning!
Would love to see Vancouver as I hear it is a gorgeous city. All the best with your planning!
I can firmly recommend NOT to take a trailer through the Canadian Rockies if you can avoid it!
Rogers Pass is heaps dangerous at the best of times even without added weight behind your vehicle. I went through 3 times with a normal car and my heart was in my throat the entire time.
Coquihalla Pass is better, but I still wouldn’t want to take anything but a monster SUV if I were pulling a trailer through.
Mr. Teebear and I moved out West years ago with a trailer, but had to wind up driving through Canada instead of the US (long story) and ditched the trailer in Thunder Bay, Ontario to opt for shipping our effects from there as it became rapidly clear how little fun the trailer was going to be.
If you go for it, don’t forget that you’ll definitely want to take extra gas cans with you because your mileage will go down significantly, and there’s some huge sections of road from Alaska down where you just can’t fill up for several hundred kilometers.
I also don’t particularly *like* driving though and so of course that colors my experience going along the TransCanada, etc!!
Thanks for the input! We are leaning towards ferry/barging our stuff for all those reasons. I get easily stressed while driving too but I wouldn’t feel good about putting it all on the man.
Wow, very exciting!
No scent yet, but Arquiste Nanban is calling my name; I can hear it yelling from upstairs….
Oh, dear?
Having a tough week w/ the drama that is work…wearing Wicked Good today for extra fortification!!!
Grateful for perfume and all of you who love it too.♥️
Just one day left plus a few hours until the weekend 😉
Hang in there! And glad to hear that the ‘fume is able to strengthen you today.
Hang in there! It’s Friday eve!
One more day, She-ra!
Hope that your stressful day is over now and you are relaxing.
Wearing Femme by Rochas today, really into fruity chypres this week it seems.
I wanted something non-wintery, so I’m wearing Kilian Woman in Gold. Summoning up courage to do battle with Air Canada about their rebook/change/refund policies.
Sending you all the good juju!
You smell great! Air Canada owes me $150 but I can’t be bothered to fight with them over it, last time it took three months and a credit card chargeback to resolve it. Hope you have better luck.
SotD is Jasmin Rouge.
I am house twins with my husband today. ?
He bought Mandarino di amalfi a while ago and he wears it a lot. I get plenty of orange blossom from it and its like a bit of summer on a very very rainy afternoon.
Weather is crazy here. Temps went up from -10 to 10 degrees C (14 to 50 fahrenheit) within a few days.
A week ago half of The Netherlands was skating on frozen lakes and canals ❄️, but this weekend it will be springlike with sunshine and 16 degrees (61 F) ☀️
I read an article about the skating! And best headline: “Half-naked skater plunges into Amsterdam canal…”
Envy your warmer weather, hope we will follow you soon!
Robin my weather lady reminded us today that a slow warm up is best if you have snow and/or ice on your roofs or body of water. Quick warm ups can cause alot of damage. My roof still leaking from the winter from hell 2014.
HA, even a slow warm up that keeps going in the right direction would make me very happy!
I’m in SL Vetiver Oriental today, enjoying it very much!
Took my car in for regular service this morning, I had been delaying it for awhile because I’m hardly driving these days, but those nagging email reminders finally got to me.
I have more practice than you tulipani, and am still procrastinating car stuff 🙂
Helps that you can drive around my county with expired inspections for months before anybody notices.
We don’t have inspections here, and I am very thankful.
Feu Secret called to me this morning, so that’s my SOTD. Mr. G and I are going to look at a condo this afternoon (just investigation/curiosity at this point), and later on will go out to dinner for his birthday. Adventure!
Enjoy your evening out.
lol.. adventure indeed!
Enjoy your time out 🙂
I am trying to sell my condo and it’s a freaking nightmare. I will never buy another one. Plus my real estate agent is a crazy bitch, which is not helping matters.
Oh no! Can I ask what’s been difficult? (Feel free to simplify if the answer is an epic).
I want to buy a condo and my husband isn’t really into the idea – but in the meantime we’ve been dithering about what to do with our savings.
We swore we would make a decision early last March after meeting with a financial advisor at the bank – and then the pandemic hit and we’ve done precisely nothing.
She constantly lies to us and is pressuring us to drastically lower the price so she can make a quick sale. Honestly I can’t recommend condo ownership, but if you can’t afford a house, it’s at least an investment and will help you get on the property ladder.
Vintage Zibeline parfum de toilette today which is appropriately very animalic.
Nice.
Wearing Mariella Burani parfum de toilette.
Contrary to many reviews, I don’t think this smells at all like a low-aldehyde Chanel No. 5. Rather, the opening reminds me of Lancome Tresor. MB is a more complete perfume; Tresor is a highly amplified subset of it.
Personally, I like a hint of Tresor but find even one spray unbearable, so I enjoy MB.
One of my favorite tactics on ebay is to look for partial bottles of vintage perfumes, usually from sellers who appear to frequent estate sales. Partial bottles are always more affordable, and they are usually still in good condition. It’s also a good way to obtain the original version of a perfume rather than the reformulated later editions.
I do tend to avoid sellers who appear to be bottle collectors. I assume those perfumes may have been on display and ruined by light.
Late check-in!
It’s nearly gone now, but started out the day in Tous Happy Moments. Good for daytime, office time, anytime….
Curious — did you buy that unsniffed? I never see testers in the US.
I had a Scentbird sample and loved it, so when FragranceNet had a good price I went for a FB! Doesn’t last long on my skin though….only till about lunchtime. The pineapple note is so yummy though!
Ah, that makes sense…forgot that you did Scentbird.
currently watching the attempt to land a vehicle and drone on Mars to search for fossils of microbal life.
I am still gobsmacked on the notion that anyone can find fossils of microbes on earth.
They have landed the vehicle on Mars, right near the rock they apparently wanted to look at most.
Now, perhaps we can get electricity and water into Houston.
HA.
Wearing Kiss Me Tender by Parfums de Nicolai. It smells slightly like the Wisteria near Chenonceau. Still virtually travelling the Loire Valley.
You smell great austenfan!
Twins!
I am wearing Santa Maria Novella Fresia today and it is reminding me of my trip to Florence where I bought it. I love scent memories. Especially vacation ones 🙂
You smell amazing and vacation scent memories are the best!
My SMN Florence purchase is Russa and linked to a Tuscan wine tour with friends, the memory always makes me smile.
Wearing Beyond Patchouli and remaining calm despite the crazy antics of our horrid real estate agent. Makes me never want to sell a property ever again.
Oh no, sorry you have a horrible agent! Sending out good thoughts at this stressful time; it’s never fun!
Thank you, I am already stressed and this is not helping, but just have to be patient and hope for the best.
Ugh.. I’m sorry. Do you have to stay in the contract with her?
Unfortunately there is a $3,000 penalty clause, so we will have to wait it out, but I will be a lot more careful next time!
Oh boy! Courage!
Indeed. I just keep reminding myself some day the contract will end and she can’t make me do anything I don’t want to do.
I’m so sorry 🙁 the one real estate agent I semi-worked with to buy my current house was subpar, but I met a few worse ones, and I really hope I don’t end up with a bad one if/when we try to sell.
Busy day today! So far, I have done a load of laundry, shoveled the front steps to remove the new snow, and washed a load of dishes in the dishwasher. I’m thinking I’m going to sleep well tonight.
SOTD = AG Ambre Fetiche EdP yet again. Goes beautifully with snowy weather!
Busy day here too although happily my husband did all the snow removal 🙂
Hope we both sleep well!
I wanted to get rid of the snow before the sun went down. Heaven only knows how hard that stuff is going to freeze tonight.
Fingers crossed for good sleep!
You smell nice, again!
Thanks, again! It might be hard for me to wear a CP-compliant perfume tomorrow. So tempted to wear the Ambre again!
Sweet dreams jalapeno!
Thank you lillyjo! I’m going to hold out for my usual bedtime tonight, so I don’t mess up my sleep schedule.
Hope you sleep great!
YSL samples today. Mon Paris on one wrist is coming off as all strawberry hard candy for me and it is not my bag. Libre, on the other hand (literally – ba-dum-bump) is a perfectly good white flower, lavender, & cedar. I don’t get the mandarin and black currant notes that fragrantica claims, which I would like, but I like it even without them. The combined whiff is a mess.
On my second pot of honey-scented Golden Monkey from Clipper Ship Tea.
Thanks for your posting re: your experience with gas meter replacement. Between you and lillyjo I have a better idea of what to expect from it.
Sotd is Scent Trunk December 2019 by DSH focussed on Coriander.
I am about to thunk the 5ml travel spray and am enjoying it/debating getting a 30ml bottle. Just not sure I need yet another bottle of perfume that doesn’t have great longevity on me.
The good thing about poor longevity is you get to spray more, and not feel guilty about not using it up!
I love that perspective!
You probably don’t NEED it, but don’t you WANT it?! 😉
SotD Angela Ciampagna Rosarium, my last chance on this one for a while as my full bottles are staying at home! Packed samples, small decants and a few travel bottles.
I am en route to Toronto on the train for my new job as I type… and still have not been given any kind of work schedule.
Hoping tomorrow brings a bit more clarity! But this is often the way of it in my industry where we have to just roll with things and “hurry up and wait.”
Congrats, teebear! I have 3 days’ worth of posts to catch up on.
Best of luck with your new gig!
the breaking on period is always a bit rough, I guess. ?
Wearing Hiris today. I woke up to what should have been a sunny day but it’s back to snowing! The sky is all white, so it looks like it will be falling for awhile. Not impressed!
My work friend is making a road trip tomorrow to pick up her new puppy, an Australian Shepherd. Can’t wait to meet her.
Oh boy, puppy breath! 🙂
I didn’t see the picture in time, but ohhh…I’m wearing Papillon Artisan’s Tobacco Rose…which might be ok for the fella on the screen right.
Woohoo, gunmetal!
Oh you smell absolutely divine!
Scored a small bottle of Balenciaga Paris EDP and a small Le Dix parfum on the bay of evil for very little. They actually are nice together with violet being the common note.
Gosh, I have not trolled the bay of evil in forever! You smell nice!
Sotd is TF Orchid Soliel. I layered it with BBW frosted coconut snowball, lol at the name!
My heart goes out to the people of Texas. I can’t even imagine. I noticed nancyleandros hasn’t posted in a while, same with Coumarin. I hope they are ok, along with Calypso and her mom. Also 2 days with no Hajusuuri. I’m thinking she’s extra busy with work due to the weather events. I think about you all here, and wish you well every day!??
Thanks, lillyjo! I just posted below. ?
You smell(ed) summer-y today! ???
I loooooove Orchid Soleil, you smell wonderful.
I am also super heartbroken for and worried for everyone in Texas. My favorite uncle is there and almost 80. They have covid. Luckily their power is still on but I’ve been so worried all week.
Went ahead and paired L’Heure Bleue EDT with the painting today. It was the first thing I thought of and is maybe an obvious choice. It’s been really working for me today, so I may repeat it tomorrow if I can’t think of a better pairing.
I think that is probably the best pairing!
L’Heure Bleue was the first thing that I thought of for that picture, too. They have a melancholia.
You smell great.
OK, still here! Had been soooo crazy at work and the snow today did not help either. I did not get my dial tone back until mid-afternoon today, a good 2 days past the date Verizon said a technician will come out. Surprisingly, I had internet until late morning and had to switch to using my cell data hot spot!
SOTD = Maison Lancôme Haute Perfumarie Paris Santal Kardamon
So good inside while warm AND outside while cold – woody, boozy, spicy vanilla. Everything got super intense when I was outside digging out the snow, and this was almost 10 hours past my 8-spray dose!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CLdImTrhNIL/?igshid=1dbizkdms34vf
I am giving myself CP points as part of the bottle looks like a beautiful window with a delicate cutout.
And, same thing with my SOTD for Tuesday and Wednesday: 4160Tuesdays Clouds EDP and Clouds Parfum.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CLatXfCB9lT/?igshid=1qe7l50d2d4br
You smell amaaaaaazing! I love that one. ‘Woody, boozy, spicy vanilla’ is the perfect summary.
Glad to see you back, your first half the week sounds like it was HECTIC!
Thank you. Hectic doesn’t even describe half of it!
You smell (and smelled) great this week! Santal Kardamon is nuclear on me, I don’t think I could do 8 sprays.
Thanks! 8 sprays made it smell great both ways!
So very good to see you!
I’m glad your dial tone is up and running.
Thank you, but now it randomly rings with spam.
Glad to see that both you and your dial tone are back!
Thank you. I was gobsmacked my wireless worked except for when they were fixing the line.
Glad you’re back!
Thank you, KellyC!
Gosh I’ve been out of sorts. Just have been worried about family dealing with weather and covid and various things, husband has been traveling each week for work, and I’ve been here not really able to be with anyone. Trying to keep busy with various projects but have been a bit down.
That being said, I’ve worn Moonlight Patchouli 4 days in a row for no other reason than I am just loving it and it’s hitting the spot.
I’ll have to look at and read about the painting and see what I can come up with for tomorrow.
Finding a perfume that hits the sweet spot can be surprisingly difficult at times. I don’t blame you for grabbing a comfort scent.
So sorry you’ve been down! This is a difficult month — everything else is hard enough without this crappy weather. Hope things start to look better soon.
At least it’s a short month if you must pick a month to be down!
I haven’t had much to report. We’re hanging in there and trying to stay warm. I think we’ve still been relatively fortunate, considering.
I’ve been thinking of the folks in Texas, and others having a hard time. *virtual hugs*
I finally got to an optometrist and ordered bifocals. Dad tells me I’ll have to be careful going down the stairs once I’m wearing those. Fortunately, we have a Stairlift (or Chairlift? Whatever it’s called…) for the main set of stairs in the house.
Mom got an appointment to get her first dose of the Moderna Covid vaccine in a few days, so we’re happy about that.
In general in the last few weeks, my mood has been up and down and what have you, but I try to appreciate the little things. Dad and I are still doing our backyard birdwatching.
I got a couple of ‘Ice Follies’ daffodils to bloom in the house over the last week or so. The bulbs had gotten chilled enough out on the porch in November and December, apparently, and had started to sprout, so I put some of the daffodil bulbs in colored gravel (blue), and some in pinch-necked vases so the roots were in the water. A couple of the bulbs that were sitting in the gravel bloomed, so that was nice.
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, but I’ve managed to make it to my appointments and we’ve gotten to the grocery stores and all whenever we can, so we’ve got food. I’ve got lots of books to read — or at least look at the pictures (lol) — and we’re all right. *knocks on wood*
Take care, folks!
I didn’t have a chance to pop in yesterday so this is a very late response! Congrats on the vaccine for your mom. And yeah, sometimes a lot of energy has to go on just riding out the waves. Hugs for the difficult moments…
So glad about your Mom!! That’s great.
And can’t believe you got daffodils to bloom indoors, that must be just lovely.
