It's Tuesday and Peanut Brittle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm not feeling great this morning and will possibly be going back to bed soon. If I felt better, and if I had any, I'd wear Angel Liqueur de Parfum. But since I don't, no points for me today.
Reminder: on 1/29, wear a fragrance by (Thierry) Mugler, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Ciel Bleu Porcelain tea set for 2 is hand painted with 24 carat gilding, and 20 sets were made. You can request a price quote at Ninaber van Eyben in the Netherlands.
That is some tea set Robin, did you request a price quote? 😉
Vanille tea by MF
I do not have any Thierry Mugler perfumes so days of Annick Goutal.
SOTD is AG Vanille Exquise, I very much drawn into the feel of this fragrance today rather than the actual scent.
Had a horrible sleep last night, several pots of tea for today.
Oof, I’m joining you with sleepless nights. I tossed and turned also.
But AG Vanille Exquise is wonderful!
You can get the teapot in a case on a dedicated stand/table…that sorta convinced me it might be out of my price range 🙂
Hope you’re soon right as rain, Robin.
Tea today is Numi breakfast blend–need pep for what I suspect will be a couple of rounds of snow shoveling today.
Ordered samples of the newer Masques–trying Madeleine. Well done but will not require more.
Oh, can you say more about Madeleine? That’s one I’ve been really wanting to try.
It’s a nice gourmand–I do get the whipped cream/milky effect–but on me it was very linear (generally prefer florals).
It contains cumin, which doesn’t bother me, but I know some are quite sensitive to it.
Thanks! Cumin doesn’t typically bother me, luckily. I will still plan to sample all the new MM perfumes soon. I am hoping the US shops receive Ray-Flection soon. I think it was lucasai who posted about it in the last few days.
I personally loved it, but then I am a huge gourmand fan.
Thanks for chiming in, cazaubon. Im looking forward to trying it.
I recently tried Madeleine also. The chestnut note really came through for me (as did the milk/whipped cream). I agree, well done. Decided I don’t need to do chestnut ever again.
Though the x-rays look good/don’t show instability, my doctor wants me to wear the cervical collar another 4 weeks…I felt kind of devastated yesterday by this but I think w/ all the stress in my life and the world of late…it just kind of hit me hard. The original estimate was 6-8 weeks and I have had it for 4 and I was hopeful maybe I would get an early reprieve. But I shall press on with the help of my old friend…vanilla. 😉
Today I will be trying Fragonard Vanille which was my first purchase of 2021 and also a blind buy b/c that’s how I roll…will weigh in w/ thoughts later. This was a 2020 release.
I am also debating between the Coco Mademoiselle Intense travel spray (which I smelled a while ago but believe it has prominent vanilla and is so darn cute) and Heretic Dirty Vanilla now available at Nordstrom which I haven’t smelled yet b/c I have Notes burning a whole in my pocket. Please guide me on which to acquire. 😉
Also little Miss Greta continues to do well. I am getting better at doing her liquid antibiotics and eye drops too. Behold the power of modern medicine! 🙂
I’m glad your xrays look good. Sorry about the collar though. I vote for Coco Mademoiselle Intense, but only because I don’t know the other one, lol.
Thanks, lillyjo, your vote has been counted! 🙂
Sorry about that darned collar! Is it very uncomfortable or just a nuisance?
I can’t comment on the perfumes as I haven’t smelled either…
Thanks, Merlin. It’s a little bit of both…and some of it is probably mental too….wanting to be healed and make progress in perhaps an unrealistic timeframe. 😉
What a pity about the collar. Sounds uncomfortable
Thanks, tannina!
Sorry about the collar but better safe than sorry.
Yay for Greta feeling like herself again.
Thanks, Aurora! Yes, a happy kitten is a wonderful thing.
Hi She-ra: not that I would ever discourage *buying* perfume, but I’d be happy to send you a 10ml decant of CMI. I got 50mls when it first came out, and then one day soon after on Ebay I saw 100mls for about the same price and, well, perfume math that is a bargain. So I am swimming in it! 😀 Let me know at kclberry, dot net, of net scape-o! Tossing up another 5ml decant if anyone is interested.
Sorry, but regular NST’ers only!
So kind of you, MossyBerry! ? Just sent you an email. Please let me know if you don’t receive it.
So sorry She-ra! Glad it is showing signs of healing, at least.
Thanks, Robin, hope you are feeling better.
She-ra, I’m so glad the X-rays look good! And so sorry it’s been frustrating.
My vote’s on the Heretic. I don’t know either scent, but if it’s all the same to you, I’d vote for the smaller brand with the cuter bottle 🙂
And hooray for happy kitty <3
Thank you, Koyel! And I shall respond to your last email too…sorry for the delay. I have a couple packages to get out and am planning to do that this weekend or next possibly.
No problem! You have more important things to worry about!
Oh boooo for the collar having to stay on! But healing is progress still.
You and Greta will be back at full strength together soon!
Thanks, teebear! Yes, healing is progress for us both. 🙂
Totally understand wanting it to be done, but the x-rays are good news, at least. Sending vanilla-scented hugs!
Thanks, SP…sending vanilla-scented hugs back!
I vote for Heretic Dirty Vanilla, and thanks for letting me know Nordies is carrying it, I too have notes burning a hole in my pocket.
Yes, I haven’t been perusing their site as often but stumbled upon it last evening and wanted to spread the word. 😉
Also I noticed Ulta now has Nemat Vanilla Musk oil…have not heard of this line but I see reviews on Fragrantica and wondered if you have tried this one please?
Nope, never heard of it.
I’ve tried it and like it very much (file it under cheap thrills). I find it’s normally found at health food stores and places like Whole Foods and Sprouts.
Thanks for your thoughts and where else to find it!
Ditto on the Nemat Vanilla Musk. My husband got me a little bottle awhile back and it’s a straightforward comfort scent, not overly sweet. I love it for bedtime because the roll-on bottle dispenses just enough. Bummer about the C-collar, but better safe than sorry. I like Coco Mad Intense, but my husband doesn’t care for anything Coco Mad related. Haven’t smelled the Heretic.
Thanks for the feedback on the Nemat!..it has good reviews on Fragrantica too. Yes, Coco Mademoiselle and the flankers are somewhat divisive I would say. 😉 ehaeheh
Oh, and my sympathies on the collar, I understand your impatience to be healed and free.
Thank you…yes, some of it is mental and wanting to move on too.♥️
My vote would be for Heretic. I’m sorry you won’t be out of your collar immediately, but I’m so glad you’re improving! Thrilled to hear Greta is improving as well.
Glad to hear that both you and Greta are improving! I totally understand your desire to get out of the cervical collar. (I had an ankle cast as a kid. Hated it!) Better safe than sorry, though.
Oh, forgot to say: get the Heretic.
Still Muglering it up in A*Men Ultra Zest, which is the original A*Men subdued by a bright candied orange and I think a bit of cinnamon. It’s really pleasant and sunshiny, with the too-muchness of the original tamped way down.
Wish I had more variety of A*Men, and wish I had some B*Men left! All such good scents.
I’m wearing Lonestar Memories today, from an untouched sample. I think I’ve had this awhile, because, as with other Tauer samples, the liquid is quite viscous. I like it, but it isn’t love. I may try Lonsome Rider later this week, because the notes sound more my speed.
Lonestar Memories is wonderful.
Does anyone know if Lonesome Rider has been discontinued? I couldn’t find it on Tauer’s website.
Lonesome Rider was discontinued. Une Rose Vermielle was discontinued too but not sure if Une Rose Chypree was but it looks like Andy Tauer might be revamping his whole line.
I love Lonesome Rider. Let us know what you think when you try it!
Cold and snow today. I’m so glad I don’t have to leave the house! I’m wearing Angel Croisiere. I have a spray of each version on opposite hands. They are both incredible sweet, like sticky fruit juice. I can’t say I prefer one over the other.
Robin, I hope after some good rest that you will feel better!
Yay for being cosy at home, the Croisières passed me by. Too sweet? Are they enjoyable anyway?
Yes, they are both enjoyable. I just have to limit my sprays, but that’s like any Angel!
Thank you!
Cold and snow twins!❄️
It’s still snowing here, but I think you got it worse, from what the map shows.
Yeah, we got almost 9 inches! A lot more than I was expecting.
Sticky fruit juice? I think I can skip those! My tolerance for sweet perfumes is unpredictable these days. Sometimes it’s OK, and other times I can’t scrub fast enough.
oh my such wind we have had. and cold
Tam Dao has been overlooked these past months so about 8 sprays for a loooooooooooong day.
Hope Tam Dao will carry you through, apsara!
You smell great!
In Berdoues Maasai Mara today.
Gonna make some pasta for dinner today and then off to the training 🙂
Are you making pasta from scratch?
I am not that skilled! I bought some penne that I boiled 😉
Robin, I hope you feel better soon!
I’m wearing Red Oud today because that’s what my nose asked for and if I don’t submit to its wishes then it nags me ALL DAY LONG. I may try to layer it with a little Pure Tonka later if I work up the courage/fool-hardiness.
Thanks Merlin!
I have a feeling that today’s tea set is one of those with a price that falls into the “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” category. SOTD is Paracelsus, and I still love it as much as I did on first wearing it – as Jalapeño says, “swoon!” In other news, I’m meeting with a deck contractor later this morning for a bid on much needed repairs to our back deck, my parents got their first round of vaccinations yesterday, and we have snow predicted for late afternoon/evening today. I hope you feel better soon, Robin, and hopefully whatever it is that a you’ve got is minor and short-lived.
Hurrah for the parents’ vaccinations! Wonderful news.
It is indeed! They’re in their mid-80s and live in California where the virus is raging more than it is here in Oregon, and I was worried about them. Still am, but Step One done at least!
I was thinking it was the “If you have to ask, have one of your personal assistants give us a call” sort of tea set.
LOL!
Hooray for your parents! I hope you were pleasantly surprised by the estimate for your deck.
It’ll be a couple of days before we get the actual estimate, but fingers crossed it won’t make me choke! Contacted two more companies today to request bids, so that I might have some idea of what the actual ballpark is. ?
A little bit of Paracelsus will have you smelling wonderful all day and into the night…
Yes indeed – it’s still wafting now, at dinnertime. Such beauty.
I hope you feel better soon Robin! Head back to bed for some zzzzs.
My SOTD is Mugler’s Alien Essence Absolue – jasmine, orris, vanilla, incense, myrrh, white amber and cashmere wood. I love this quirky – ambery, resinous jasmine. I’m not normally a huge fan of jasmine but paired with resins, as with Samsara, it’s one of my favorites.
Woke up to the sound of coyotes yipping this morning, it was very cool! Officially counting down, moving in less than five days. Excited and nervous.
Watched another workout video from The Fit Mother Project. Interesting he started out as a bodybuilder.
You smell amazing. That one’s my favorite so I’m saving it for Friday 🙂
Thank you! Have you tried the Alien Sunessence? Wondering what that’s like… 🙂
Never got to try that one, sadly.
Your commitment to exercise inspires me
Thanks! I could just as easily be a couch potato, napping and reading all day. I have to work at it. 🙂
Not too long ago I was on a hike with my family in Point Reyes, at dusk–we could hear coyotes yipping, probably less than a mile away in the hills near us, but we couldn’t see them. We were sure they could see us, standing there gawping at all the racket!
That is awesome!
Yes, a few times, we’ve had coyotes just blithely stroll by our car as it’s warming up like it’s ‘no big deal’.
We hear coyotes in our neighborhood yipping at least once a week in the middle of the night. See foxes a few times a year.
Last week we were having neighborhood cocktail hour (as one does a few times a week since the beginning of COVID), and a bobcat crossed the street about 75 yards away. It stopped, gave us a good stare, then continued on its way.
That is fabulous! Where do you live? We get foxes, but no coyotes or bobcats in our Oakland backyard (that backs up against an EBMUD easement/wooded area).
I’m in Marin. There’s a lot of wild forested areas in our neighborhood (our plot is nearly an acre, and basically all woods—no, I don’t own it, too poor for that), but we don’t abut any open space.
We’re maybe a mile from Mt. Tam and tons of other open space, but our bobcat would have had to cross some streets.
Of course we have tons of deer, too. One day I found a 3 point rack just sitting on the driveway next to my car.
Then there’s all the other wildlife I’m not as fond of: spiders and rats and squirrels (cute, but if they get in the attic, they give a ratty-vibe). I swear we are a spider farm.
Oh, and neighbors have tons of daytime coyote-spotting stories. I’ve not seen one.
Wow, a bobcat! I do love furry critters. Years ago, when I lived in SW Florida, I saw a FL panther while trail riding. It was one of the most amazing sights.
Shortly after, we saw wild hogs, which spooked our horses.
Florida has such astounding natural beauty, I really wish the local government agencies would invest in thoughtful wildlife preservation efforts.
No points for me all week, but I’m in Chergui today and loving it, so there’s that. I have to speak briefly in a large Zoom meeting today and when that’s over (I always get nervous), I will celebrate with coffee and a delicious homemade cookie. https://smittenkitchen.com/2017/12/salted-butter-chocolate-chunk-shortbread/
Have a great day, all!
No points for me either so I’ll join you in Chergui on this cold clear day.
Twins! Kevin’s short shrift of new releases always inspires me to wear the “oldies but goodies”. I saw the Maison Crivelli line when I was in a perfume shop the last time, but focused on smelling all the Vilhelm perfumes that they had in travel spray form. None of those appealed to me either. Best of the bunch to my nose was Dear Polly – I thought it had a bit of leather, but never checked the note list.
I quite liked the Mango Skin but they didn’t have it in travel size…
I always get nervous with any kind of public speaking too. Those cookies look delish! Enjoy!
I survived and enjoyed my cookie afterwards! And now I have two fairly contentious meetings to look forward to this afternoon…
Oh yikes.?Sounds like more cookies are in order!?
That is an excellent cookie. I have a batch of the cookie dough for it sitting in rolls in my freezer, waiting to be sliced and baked for a friend’s birthday. Sometimes I dollop excess egg-and-sanding-sugar mixture on top of the cookie for an extra crunch.
I like a lot of Smitten Kitchen recipes. Those look great. Whew, though! Sounds like a tough day.
Those cookies look monstrously good!
You do smell fantastic! Oh my, those cookies; thank you for the link?
Hope your presentation went well!
Giving Alien Fusion another shot today.
If anyone is looking to be enabled, in honor of our Mugler week (OK, “Valentine’s Day”), Mugler’s website is offering a BOGO deal on on most of their perfumes NOT in the Les Exclusifs line.
https://www.muglerusa.com/valentines-day/ – don’t work for them, just think it’s on topic!
**Les EXCEPTIONS lol I need a coffee
SotD is Anubis
Thank you all for the kind and sweet comments yesterday!
This afternoon I called ICT to make an appointment to pick up my laptop and phone on my first workday. Exciting ?
Also because i get to travel again…this lockdown makes a 65 km train trip a big adventure ?
It does sound like an adventure! ?
It’s the little things that count, I hope your new job will go well. And that the challenge will prove rewarding.
Was able to sniff Anubis while meeting a perfume pal this weekend, and it is lovely.
Train trips are the BEST!
Have a fabulous train trip! I love riding on trains.
Robin, I hope you feel better soon.
I did most of my taxes yesterday but can’t file until 2/12. It’s always a relief to have them done. I’m wearing Maai (only one Mugler and I’m saving it for Friday) and waiting to see if the snow that is forecasted will actually arrive. Hoping it doesn’t turn out to be “wintry mix.”
Thank you foxbins, and wow, good for you…I have not started but hopefully you’ve inspired me.
OMG we are pillars opposites. I’m terrible: I file an extension every year and always do them at the last possible moment. Awful habit.
* polar
I hope you feel better soon Robin!
Wearing Chanel Paris-Venise layered with the body lotion. Super!
It just started snowing, but it will turn to the awful wintry mix later. On my second cup of coffee and ready to the next Zoom meeting.
Happy Tuesday! ?
Same here with the snow and wintry mix later. You smell nice!
Nothing really happened in my area. A dust of snow early in the afternoon and some drizzling in the afternoon. No precipitation after. I have not checked the forecast yet for tonight, but it seems that fortunately the bad weather went somewhere else.
Ooh, I bet the body lotion is nice. Does it help the scent last longer? I’ve tried 3 from that line and they were all lovely but pretty short lived.
The lotion is great. Soft and silky and it definitely makes the scent last longer. I really recommend it!
that’s my favorite from the line! I also like how compared to so many other scents, they are not that crazy expensive. You smell good.
Thank you! Paris-Venise is also my favorite from the line along with Paris-Deauville. They are great and very easy to wear!
I love Paris-Venise; you do smell fantastic! I will definitely have to look into the lotion.
The lotion is a scent by itself and lasts longer than the perfume on my skin. The shower gel is also very lovely.
Great, thank you for the report back! Off to investigate..
Sounds like today’s storm was a non-event for you, too. But our area might get something else later on this week or early next week.
It is going to be in the low 20’s now for us on Friday and the weekend and then rain Monday. I am already exhausted with this weather.
Had my first Covid swab yesterday. My husband and I have steadfastly refused to get tested for minor complaints as we wear N95 masks as a rule and felt that to start testing unless really unwell was a slippery slope. We get free Covid tests as part of our hospitals’ covid policy and have seen colleagues go crazy. My ongoing nausea (now D6) finally tipped the scales but I tested thankfully and wonderfully negative. Hope you feel better soon, Robyn.
SOTD as mentioned above: Chergui
Great news on the results!
Haply for you.
*Happy
Glad you were negative! And you smell great!
Do you have any idea of what IS causing the nausea and vertigo?
Glad the test came back negative!!! Hope you figure out what’s causing the nausea and vertigo (and, defo NOT a doctor but just mentioning that that’s two of the classic symptoms of middle ear infections, for what it’s worth).
Glad you don’t have Covid, but hopefully they can help you with your symptoms. In my case it was an inflamed inner ear issue.
Glad you tested negative!
Vertigo and nausea are so miserable. I hope you feel better soon!
Glad to hear that your COVID test was negative!
Robin, get better soon.
Still Mugler free, so Ajmal Evoke today.
Fried salmon and cauliflower salad for dinner.
Thank you tannina!
No Mugler in sight. Wearing Philtre d’amour or some such by Guerlain. Enjoying it, but prefer real Shalimar. Tea is a lovely gourmand oolong from Dammen Freres.
Oh, and I completely forgot to add my hopes for a swift recovery to you Robin!
Thanks! Am resting in bed, after a long afternoon of resting in bed 🙂
Excellent ??
Oooh, I’ve been so curious about that Philtre Shalimar flanker. Seems like they released it only on the Guerlain website? Or, if it ever made to the stores, I missed it completely.
Bergdorf said it won’t be offered. I have been checking the Saks website – nothing. I suppose I should call the Saks Guerlain SA ?.
I curious to know your thought about this one!
I have not made up my mind about it. I do love real Shalimar (extrait) best. Just totally filthy.
Robin, I hope you feel better soon!
The tea set looks like it could be patterned after a Magritte with the blue and the clouds ☁️.
SOTD = Mugler Les Exceptions Supra Floral
? green floral!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CKgyEXjhG4p/?igshid=1sbtx5imsmjl
Ima check out the Mugler BOGO sale but Dorsey burst my stinkerkit-induced bubble with the comment about the exception of Les Exceptions.
That’s such a pretty one! Gives Puredistance Antonia a reun for its money…
True but to Antonia’s defense, it is more potent!
I’ve been trying to avoid the Mugler BOGO sale. *looking/not looking*
I haven’t looked yet but I will break down shortly ?
Didn’t want anyone to get TOO excited…but if you like the colognes or the EDTs of their regular line it’s pretty good!!
I will look anyway but I am not hopeful!
Hope that you have some “Winter Warmer” type Muglers for later on this week!
I’ll pretty much be indoors unless it dries out, in which case, I may re-up with something else.
Greetings to everyone, it has been ages since I posted but I was inspired by hajusuuri’s IG post to wear Mugler – Innocent (was it originally called Angel Innocent?) I hope everyone feeling under the weather feels better soon. I also hope to do a better job of checking in here – was thinking about my early forays into perfume recently and most of my info and enabling started at NST!
How do you like Innocent? Is there a distinct almond note??
I can discern the almond but wouldn’t consider it distinct, at least on my skin. More of a simple caramelly musky sweetness.
Nice to see you!!
Woo hoo. I feel like I see you all the time and don’t even think about which forum!
Good to see you here!
I’m wearing a mystery sample that I found on my dresser not labelled. Doesn’t matter, because it is pretty forgettable. I would like your opinion on something. I got a $100 LuckyScent gift certificate for Christmas. I am trying to decide between Xerjoff Lira and Love and Crime. Former is expensive and I would never buy it without the gift certificate. But the gift certificate would cover almost all of Love and Crime and I would still have to spend my own money on Lira to make up the difference. Which should I buy? I really like both.
If both were the same price which one would you buy?
Well queried. 😉
I say get something almost-free and if you really love the Xerjoff get a decant.
But, I haven’t smelled either of these so it’s based solely on price.
I would go for the one you would never get without the gift certificate.
The difference in price is not negligible so if you wanted to be cautious you could get a 5ml of each and decide after finishing at least one? Not sure if I would be THAT responsible, but it’s an idea 😉
I would buy the Lira.
Which one would you wear more often? I really should come up with a ready-made explanation of lower cost does not necessarily mean cheaper overall.
I would buy the more expensive bottle. Because I wouldn’t buy it without a gift certificate.
What a lovely situation to be in!
Is there one perfume you like more than the other, regardless of price?
Hope you are feeling better, Robin. For CP points, I am digging out my set of Mugler samples. Today I tried Supra Floral. It was very nice going on, but 5 or so hours in, I can barely smell it as a skin scent. I used about half of a 3ml sample spray – maybe it would bloom in the heat, which we certainly don’t have here today. Have a good Tuesday, everyone!
Well I’ll be! I do have a Mugler. I totally forgot about Supra Floral. I definitely have a decant of that one. It wound up being a little too green for me–I am not a huge fan of green scents. But, I like it enough.
That’s exactly what I want in a fragrance: smells great, just about gone in 5 hours 🙂
I do see advantages to that, but especially at work, I like to have my scent bubble last until quit’n’ time.
OMG, we are TWINS! My 8 sprays is chugging along and it’s been 10 hours.
Hi Twin! I think I was at about 5 sprays from the, not 3ml like I said above but, 1.5ml sample, so they were tiny sprays.
Will you retry Supra Floral in warmer weather, or just thunk and be done with it?
I still have about half the sample, so I will just return it to the hoard; maybe since we talked about it, I will remember to see if it is different in warm weather! Being a fan of big sillage, I seem to be impatient with perfumes that don’t sing out no matter what.
Wearing come Cuir Beluga, which I put into the Powder category. Nice enough if not FB worthy, and just as well as it’s one of the Fancy Guerlains.
You smell lovely. I’ve been nursing a little decant of that one. ?
2nd this! Cuir Beluga is lovely and cozy. I’m also treasuring a small decant, but I doubt I’d get a full bottle.
Thanks for reminding me about this one — I have a sample from a generous NSTer somewhere, and I really like it!
Nice. It’s one that I have a BUB and a travel spray!
I can’t decide if I like Cuir Beluga or Angelique Noir more — they are both super cozy
Joining the Mugler theme in Chyprissime. I thought about saving it for Friday, but having thought about it, I want to wear it right now 🙂
And why wait 😉
I like this one!
I thought that one had the best name of all the Les Exceptions.
Robin, I hope you feel more perky soon!
I’m in Mugler Amen Pure Shot. It’s Pure Soap on me, so I added some 4711 Lime & Nutmeg on top. I smell like fresh soap now, and I’m okay with that. Will entertain myself with other 4711’s in layers today. ?
Definitely worse things to smell like than fresh soap.?
So true! Still, I’d have to classify this one as a flUnker, not a flanker. ??
Ha!?
Lol!
Pure Shot and Pure Wood were failures to my nose.
Good to know I can skip that one! In the Before Times, I saw a lot of the Amen flankers at Marshall’s.
Unfortunately I don’t think we got Pure Malt or Pure Coffee in South Africa. I am a fan of both Pure Havana and Pure Tonka ? I also QUITE like Pure Zest but I wasn’t moved to actually purchase it…
Pure Soap = Pure Nope!
LOL, agreed!
I’m in JHaG Musc Invisible. My travel spray is dwindling. Woke up to quite a bit of snow! My street wasn’t plowed of course but luckily I made it to work just fine. There are perks to a 2 mile commute.?
If anybody watched cbs sunday morning, they came to visit my little city for the segment on climate refugees.
Wow, climate refugees? I’m intrigued, is this segment available for online viewing?
Yes, you can find it right on cbs’ website or YouTube(I think).
So Madison, WI is the place to be! 🙂
I guess so! I love it here, but there isn’t any good perfume shopping, I can tell you that.?
Every time I visited Madison I loved it. Still cranky that my husband didn’t get a faculty position there.
Will you get another travel spray of that JHAG?
I don’t think so, there are a lot of perfumes out there to love. I’m still on a quest for my perfect musk, this one is close but not quite.
No Mugler points for me until possibly Friday, I only have a sample of Alien Muse, and I’m not sure if I’ll even wear it.
I’m in Traversee du Bosphore, which I can only wear on quite cold days. It’s otherwise rather cloying on me.
Glad you found the right day for it, you do smell great!
Thank you Robin! And I hope you managed to get more sleep and feel better.
TdB is definitely a very cold weather scent for me, too. Not sure why it is so sweet on my skin.
I’m able to wear Mugler all week, which wouldn’t have been possible just a year ago. Thanks to swaps and freebies though (with special shout out to hajusuuri for a variety pack of Les Exceptions), I have plenty to choose from. Today I’m wearing Cuir Impertinent, which has a lovely and prominent anise note. I also appreciate how subdued it is in contrast to yesterday’s Angel Muse.
AM = 3 small sprays, lasts most of the day (I refreshed with one small spray to each arm early evening just because)
CI = 4 small sprays to each arm and 3 to the neck
Meant to send you well wishes, Robin. I hope you feel better after some extra sleep.
Thank you!
Cuir Impertinent is my second favorite, next to Over the Musk. I think I’ve tried about 5 or 6.
I like them all. I have 5!
🙂 … 8 sprays everyday for me!
Sorry you’re under the weather Robin, get well soon.
In RP Visa which smells like a more refined Angel.
Thanks Aurora.
Robin, I hope you can get some rest and start feeling better very soon!
I’ve been stuck in this unbelievably tense and snappish state of mind for days now. Put on some Kyoto to see if it would calm and soothe me, but I suspect what I really need is a hug.
I’m sorry I can only do a virtual one, but am sending out an extra special, large, bear hug on steroids! Hope you feel better quick!
Thank you for the virtual bear hug! It’s actually helping! 🙂
But of course! ?
Sending you many hugs Isabella!
???????❤??
Plus sunshine and chocolate for good measure!
Sending many virtual hugs!
Totally relate.
Sending you a virtual hug, hope you can get a real one asap!
Even my virtual hugs have cooties today, but hope your tension eases soon!
Sending you another hug, Isabella!
Sending hugs! ?
*Virtual hugs*, Isabella. I hope your mood evens out. I’ve been very moody this past couple of weeks, on a hormonal rollercoaster. Even though we’ve added minutes of daylight, it hasn’t been all that sunny here, which doesn’t help, either. I’ve been taking lots of naps.
More hugs here! And seconding the suggestion of good chocolate as a remedy.
Sending you a huge bear hug and a glass of pinot noir.
Virtual hugs!!! ?
SotD = PHI une rose de Kandahar
I like typing that name. PHI is lovely on this chilly morning. The sun is shining and the air feels clean because of the recent rains.
Found a bottle of rosewater that I’d forgotten about. A few drops in my green tea this morning was interesting. 😉
Hope your day is rosy, fragrant friends!
You remind me – I have been planning to make a rosewater cake that is mentioned on the Ormonde Jayne site.
You smell so beautiful!
Hope you feel better soon, Robin!
SOTD: Seville a l’Aube
Enjoying a fresh cup of coffee and some dark chocolate for my afternoon snack. I really love the word ‘snack’ 😉
I had earl grey & some chocolove dark cherry just a little bit ago 🙂
I had a piece of dark chocolate from Abdallah Candies this afternoon. No affiliation. Stumbled upon the dark chocolate sea salt caramels from this brand in the hospital gift shop where my daughter was born.
https://www.abdallahcandies.com/
Aren’t those the best!
I don’t know this brand but I’m a fan of that flavor.
And I also like the word snack. 🙂
Tuesday!
1) SOTD: Dossier Ambery Saffron (MFK Rouge 40 dupe) & LM Creme Brulee- after my sweaty and exhilarating cardio routine.
2) I am fighting sliding back into my old routines by using a Best Self journal! Yes, I could have created my own bullet journal using People Systems, but I am really enjoying the prefab, plug and play nature of this journal.
https://www.amazon.com/SELF-Journal-BestSelf-Productivity-Achievement/dp/B088KRN1CL
Is it that one please? How long have you been using and did you use another one previously? I have been tempted to get a journal but then I get distracted and/or lazy and start thinking about vanilla again. ehaeh
Yes, that is indeed the one that I have! I I previously used the UnCalender by PeopleSystems for many years- and I makes a great bullet journal for just about anything. But I have two specific goals that I need to work towards in March, and so decided to give Best Self a try. I just started using Best Self at the beginning of January- but I have noticed the abbreviated time and focus on my two specific goals to be already helpful on staying on track .
I only have two Mugler scents so will save them for later in the week.
Mitsouko EdP today. I’m drawn to something appropriate for a cold day. I was commando yesterday. We made a decision on Sunday to rent a car and drive out to a storage space we have in the Poconos to do an inventory check in advance of a purge. I wanted to do it in advance of bad weather expected. So, was on the road early and forgot about any scent.
Why would you not do a purge at the same time?
Have a safe trip and effective purge!
SotD Zoologist Musk Deer. This is the “perfect” weather for it – feels like -9°C and about to get a solid few centimeters of snow.
I’ve got 4lbs of pulled pork cooking in the oven for this week, and coleslaw made.
I have to say, having Mr. Teebear working from home has its benefits. I went to train while the pork was cooking for 3 hours, which I would never feel comfortable doing otherwise in case of some sort of oven-related emergency. I won’t even step out of the house while the dryer is running normally!
Ok, I’m coming over for dinner!
I won’t leave the house when our gas oven is on, but I will leave with the electric slow cooker on.
Guessing this is senseless, but that’s how it is.
Either way, save me some pulled pork 😉
I am sure it would have you feeling better in a jiffy! Hope you took the day easy and are feeling more the thing now ☺️
Yes, I am ok w/ a crockpot/slow cooker but no gas appliances too. I do sometimes leave the house w/ the dryer running but this is probably also bad. eaheheh
I love pulled pork and cole slaw and will also be over. 😉
I don’t even leave the floor I’m on when the stove is on. That said, I do, but rarely, leave the house when the washing machine and / or dryer are on.
Good for you! Mr. Teebear has ruined two kettles by repeatedly walking away from the stove and forgetting he’d put water on – the third is stainless steel explicitly because of this, and still alive but not for lack of abuse ?
I kept using my sample of Musk Deer until I realized I needed to buy a bottle. It just came yesterday! I like it in our warm weather just fine!
Ooh that’s good to hear! My sample is running low but I wasn’t sure whether I’d like it in warmer weather.
Maybe I exercise some self-restraint, and hold on to the rest of it to test once it’s warmer before making any decisions on how much more of it I want/need…
My bottle’s in the mail! So excited.
Those 4lbs of pulled pork will be gone so quickly!
Yes, apparently everyone’s coming over ?
In Taif, and I have to say, I had no clue whatsoever regarding the multitudes of Mugler scents out there! Luckily, not tempted for now! 🙂
I spent hours working on a class assignment over the weekend, and moaning and whining about it….then I figured it out, felt all proud and perhaps a bit smug even at my monumental achievement, but decided to check into the professor’s office hours regardless just in case…and found out I had done the whole assignment wrong and will need to do it over.
I think every time I have the “smugs” coming on from now on, I’ll be extra cautious! 🙂
Robin, I hope you are feeling better soon.
Argh, so sorry!
Aww bummer! Funny story though. Hope it isn’t too much work to redo it!
Ouch but at least you smell nice!
I can so relate! ?
I’m very sorry and frankly, it makes me wonder if the professor did not properly clarify the task in the assignment.
D’oh! That’s a total drag.
That stinks! I guess it’s good that you went to office hours? I agree with Calypso that it sounds like the assignment wasn’t explained properly.
Thanks for all the validation, everyone! I appreciated it! 🙂
In something that is supposed to have ambergris (or fake ambergris)–a “solid” perfume my mum picked up in Japan. Weirdly, I am not picking up on any ambergris–but instead chypre–sort of like a very prettily scented Vaseline. My plan is to use it up quickly.
I tried to think of a more appealing way to say “prettily scented Vaseline” but failed ?
Yup. Poetic and disturbing 🙂
I’m wearing the new Kyse Macarons scent. Smells yummy, I like it better than the Jasmine Macarons.
Completely agree! Macarons is nicely done.
Robin, I’m sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well today. I hope whatever it is passes quickly!
Today’s alarm clock was played by a cat getting ready to throw up in the bedroom. Thankfully, it was at a reasonable hour, and on a hard surface, so cleanup was minimally annoying.
Today’s yucky weather sure took its time showing up… it didn’t arrive until late this morning. Almost all of it is/was rain. Maybe a brief burst of sleet around lunchtime. Not a single snowflake to be seen. ☔?
SOTD = Aedes de Venustas Grenadille d’Afrique EdP again today. I needed a “Get it done!” perfume for today.
Yes, waking to the sound of the cat vomiting takes me back. But you are right…reasonable hour and hard surface make all the difference.
Neither new kitten has vomited to my knowledge yet…eventually they will of course. Maybe b/c kittens don’t shed fur until they get a little older and once they get furballs it will probably commence. 😉
What I didn’t mention above was that I quickly moved the cat to a hard surface before things got messy.
I did notice that as my current cats grew up, their coats got much more plush and thicker. So you could be on the right track about hairballs. Hopefully you won’t be dealing with a lot of them!
We got snow and then the wintry mix. I was out there around 5:30 and swept away wet and snowy stuff.
I was well below the snow/ice/wintry mix line all day. Kinda thankful for that.
BTW, the tuna poke bowl was a delicious lunch! Spicy, too! ?
I do like the tuna ? poke bowl!
I was also woken by a vomiting cat. But she barfed on my pillow. ??
OH NO!!!! So sorry to hear about that (and suppressing a gag reflex)!
Stayed up late finishing the new Graceling Realm book by Kristin Cashore, Winterkeep, complete with mind reading foxes and dirigibles and purple manatees, it was really wonderful. In a bit of Angel Muse today, a really lovely gourmand. I squirted 3 test strips with my final selections from the strangelove coffret I received for Christmas. meltmyheart is really the most credible chocolate and oud perfume I have ever smelled. And not sweet but dusty and savory. lostinflowers is equally lovely with jasmine, champaca, gardenia, saffron and oud. silencethesea is like nothing else in perfumery, you can smell the sea and the shells and that seaweed that has been in the sun a little too long. It is incredibly evocative, perhaps not entirely wearable. These are very spendy, you can get a deal at Net-a-Porter occasionally or at the strangelove website. I think the ingredients are top notch and the line really reflects the many moods of oud in the not the usual ways.
I have the oils … I have not tried them yet!
Wore 2 sprays of Alien les Parfums de Cuir today. Wow, it’s still going strong!
Gorgeous perfume in one of the best bottles ever!
Thank you. Isn’t that bottle something? Glad I pulled it out this week.
Hi all, checking in on the late side again. Saw my hand surgeon late this afternoon and he said everything looks great and I don’t need to go back. He complimented me on my rehab work! Yay! I celebrated by treating myself to some pretty earrings (the huge medical complex has a really nice jewelry shop in it). Previous surgery follow-ups have also entailed such celebrations!
So, I got my Zoologist box yesterday and it included a nice personal note from Victor, as always, and a lot of samples, yay, including Snowy Owl, which I have been very eager to try! I put some on last night and tried it again today, both times with pretty lavish sprays. I’m sorry to report that I find it disappointing. The initial mint phase is very nice and striking but it only lasts 15 minutes, and then things go into a very juicy green phase, kind of like Elephant, that I don’t really much like, and doesn’t seem consistent with the vibe. After another hour it almost just disappears on me! I have to go close and sniff in really hard to get much of anything–faint whiffs of coconut, musk, something floral. Reviewers on Fragrantica complain of the calone but I don’t even notice any. I’m just not getting the spring snowy scenes or dark forest. Oh well.
Tomorrow I’ll see my hand therapist again–I have about 5 more visits–and I’m taking her a loaf of bread I made last Saturday. (I froze it, and hope that won’t ruin it.) I wanted to let her know that I’m really happy I can manipulate my thumb and fingers again!
Robin, please take good care of yourself, and get better soon!
Excellent news from your hand surgeon! I hope that your good progress continues with your PT/OT.
I complained about the watermelony calone too! But I didn’t care for it much after it faded, either. Shame, the owl portrait was so pretty I wanted to love it.
I’m sorry Snowy Owl didn’t live up to the hype. And yay for hand recovery progress. I picked up some food from your neighborhood the other day — such a cool place to live
Wow, where from? Didn’t realize you were around here!
From Mala Sichuan. Yummy. I’m just in TX until this weekend when we return to MI!
I’m so glad your hand is healing so well! Sorry about the Snowy Owl – I know you were looking forward to it.
Happy for the progress on hand rehab. Thanks for the report back on Snowy Owl.
Great news about your hand! I’m sad to read that Snowy Owl was disappointing, I was looking forward to that one. I’ll get a sample at some point and see how it goes.
That’s such great news about your hand! Physio is alot of work but so worth it; congratulations on the stellar report!
Too bad about the Snowy Owl.
Hello, folks!
Hope you’re feeling better soon, Robin, and that you were able to get some rest!
I think that would be the definition of an “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” teapot. LOL! I have enjoyed looking at some of the floral-patterned teapot pictures you put up sometimes, and some of the interesting earthenware or patterned porcelain ones.
I’m looking for a simple teakettle that doesn’t whistle. I can hear if the water is boiling, and whistling sounds like that bother me. Something in the $20 to $25 range is about my speed. lol! If the crowd here comes up with ideas, let me know. 🙂 Thanks!
Yesterday Mom and I headed out west to the super-Walmart in Parkesburg. I’m sure irisjasmine knows where that is. 🙂 It was a very productive trip. That Walmart has lots of items our smaller local Walmart doesn’t have. Plus we stopped at Arby’s to pick up a late lunch. That’s the kind of thing that’s exciting to Mom and me, especially when I pointed out that they had reubens on the menu.
Of course I was exhausted when we got home, and I’d done bad, bad things to my back with various lifting and carrying that day and the day before. Advil and a long nap helped. And I put on Nicolai Fig-Tea, which I find soothing. I had no idea this was Mugler week. I have assorted samples around.
I’m still not with the community project program today, either. But I got my box of items from LUSH today, and had a good time experimenting. I liked the fragrances of the things I got, so that’s good. 🙂 I washed my hair with “Fairly Traded Honey” shampoo, and used “Honey I Washed the Kids” shower gel. I thought both were quite nice. Also, my hair is very nice and soft.
I got “Ro’s Argan Naked Body Conditioner.” When I looked at it, I realized that “Naked” meant that it wasn’t in a pot, just in plastic wrap. I found a “Don’t Forget Cake!” plastic jar that I had washed out and kept with the idea of putting stuff in it sometime. (lol!) The conditioner fit well in that jar. I got a small amount of “Charity Pot Naked Body Lotion,” but that will probably be okay just in its plastic wrap. If not, I have lots of small containers.
I got the solid perfumes “American Cream” and “1000 Kisses Deep.” The one I’m trying right now is “American Cream.” I like it quite a lot. I haven’t tried putting the other on my wrists yet, but it smells nice in its little jar. For some reason I keep going for the fragrances I think will be soothing. Go figure. 🙂
Have a good evening! 🙂
Ah, so we were both busy yesterday! I wish I had a teapot rec for you, but when I make tea, I just put water in the microwave. I know that is probably tea heresy.
I join you in that heresy ?
Whatever is most convenient, I think. That’s likely heresy also. lol! I’m sure I’d think differently if I were trying to make tea in a ceremonial way, but I go for the utilitarian approach with tasks more often than not. 🙂 A lot of things I think are safer for me to do in the microwave than on a stove. Melting cheese or butter work better for me in the microwave. I do feel like I can manage boiling water better if I have it in a pot on the stove than if I microwave water in a Pyrex measuring cup, for instance. Anyway…
I love Lush scents! I’m currently obsessed with the scent of Dirty hair cream – it’s not the best hair product I’ve ever used, but it’s definitely the best smelling hair product I’ve ever used!
I agree. Dirty smells like a vintage chypre to me.
I tried Dirty as a wash card on a day that my folks were out of town. (lol) I was like, “Wow, that’s strong and memorable.” I have another couple of wash cards to try sometime. Lush suggested that the wash cards could be used to wash hands in public, like if you have access to a sink but there’s no soap dispenser there. It’s an idea. I suppose as long as someone wasn’t washing their hands with Breath of God or the like, you’d be okay. On the other hand, the scent of Breath of God may help keep others at a reverent distance. (LOL!)
I am glad you are enjoying your Lush goodies! What a day! I love my electric kettle and have a beautiful glass one from OXO. It was expensive but it cleans up beautifully and the handle and lid configuration is perfect. I have burned myself on the escaping steam on smaller and less expensive models, it has an automatic shutoff. I have forgotten kettles on the stove, no matter how noisy, so safer and better for the easily distracted.
Thank you! And thanks for your suggestion about an electric kettle with an automatic shutoff. 🙂 That sounds like it would be the safest thing for me. Like, in case I got distracted by a shiny object and wandered out of the kitchen. (Who, me?) I can still hear from an adjacent room whether water is boiling in a pot on the stovetop, if I’m concentrating on listening for the sound, but that’s an “if.” I’ll keep the idea about an electric kettle in mind. 🙂
If I were back home with all my bottles I would wear Angel Muse. Instead I’m in a sample of Lemon Island from AC. What dreck. This line isn’t what it used to be imho.
Robin I hope you are feeling better
Btw, I’m reading the new Cormoran Strike mystery and I think Galbraith/Rowling must be a perfumista — so far there has been a reference to Philosykos, Fracas, Dans Tes Bras, Musc Ravageur and Chanel Chance and I’m not even halfway done
Indeed, that’s a pretty impressive and unusually large frag reference list for a novel.
I never could get anything from AC to work on my skin….
I like Pacific Lime and that’s about it
No Muglers, so it’s day 2 of my American Perfumers week. It was pouring when I woke up after a terrible sleep, so I chose Dame Perfumery’s Monsoon. I love this perfume more each time I wear it. Swoon!
And Robin, I hope you are feeling much better!
I think Dame is rather under appreciated. Really well done fragrances with good quality ingredients and in small sizes! I appreciated that when Dame launched they sent out free samples to anyone who wanted them.
It’s also amazingly affordable.
I really like Dame Perfumery’s fragrances, especially JD Duality. Black Flower Mexican Vanilla is also great. Lately I’ve been wearing some of my sample of Mimosa Mixte, it’s very fitting for this time of year and I find it soothing. I agree, I think the brand is under-appreciated.
I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, I hope that improves soon. My SOTD is vintage Dioressence — love it! I have a mini splash bottle that I use sparingly. For the CP, I’ll likely wear one of the few Mugler scents I have, Angel Muse. It’s not a big fave, but I don’t dislike it.
We had huge thunderstorms roll through last night, which woke us all up at about 4 am, and I’ve been dragging all day! Off to bed soon. Feel better, Robin!
I love vintage Dioressence and was the extremely lucky recipient of either a freebie or a swap very much in my favor, can’t remember exactly. If you find you are getting low, just let me know and I’ll send you a decant. It’s potent stuff, so I only need a couple sprays per wearing.
Thank you, that’s very kind! Yes, it is potent, isn’t it? Two little dabs on my wrist lasted the whole day.
Late post as per usual, after a 13 hour day. ?
Spent most of yesterday in the delightful remains of Neroli Outrenoir (courtesy of a generous NSTer) which I’d slept in. Surprising lasting power!
Then, I made a fatal mistake. I decided to do some sampling in the evening. (An activity I am questioning in the wake of Kevin’s recent post!) I decided to spray a recently-acquired sample on back of hand. I don’t even remember WHY I got this sample. That seductive list of notes that ends up being oh-so-deceptive? (If only Kevin had posted sooner!) Then—unthinkingly—I rub the back of my hand on my neck.
Well, Dear Reader, I think you know where this is heading: tenacious, “I won’t let you forget what a fool you’ve been “ scrubber.
I was still catching whiffs of the horribleness this morning.
Then I sprayed more Neroli Outrenoir.
