Hump Day, plus the International Day of Acceptance, Cheese Lovers Day and Penguin Awareness Day. Birthdays: Lead Belly, Joy Adamson, David Lynch. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Honoré des Prés I Love Les Carottes for The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Does Peter Rabbit qualify as a fairy tale or fable? I don't know, and I'm already running late.
Reminder: 1/22 will be Fairy Tale Friday. Name a favorite fairy tale or fable, and wear a perfume that fits your choice. Suggested by therabbitsflower. (Wikipedia has a decent list of fairy tales if you need some inspiration; plus see the entry for fables.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Memo Marfa, from another sample.
I’ve always wanted to try I Love Les Carottes, but the brand is difficult to sample.
Have been in Mitsouko all week which I think qualifies for the feeling of what it must be like in a beautiful japanese fairy tale garden.
I love when fragrances transport you to different places
Mitsouko is my absolute number one fragrance. I love the edt, not the edp. I haven’t tried the extrait, or the parfum, but I adore the scent.
Oh ? I originally fell in love with the edt. But in autumn and winter I find myself drawn to the edp and use extrait on special days. Mitsouko is one of the only two scents I have in all concentrations because I love it so much.
What’s TPC? I’m in Europe if that makes a difference.
Pretty sure it’s The Perfumed Court: https://www.theperfumedcourt.com/
I’m sorry. TPC is a decant house here in the states. The real name is The Perfumed Court. They may do international shipping, but surely there must be decant houses in Europe.
I’m not trying to push a purchase, but just to let you know, TPC currently has I Love Les Carottes available to sample.
La Danza delle Libellule for my Italian lesson this morning.
Consumed a scone and croissant ? this morning so I am out the door for some exercise
Will report back with my SOTD after the shower
Have a lovely walk!
I do love scones. I think I’ll make a batch when we get into the new apartment.
I love to make scones too..
When do you move?
Croissants for breakfast are the best!
yes, waist line is getting tight though
You smell delicious!
like apple and vanilla !
No more carbohydrate hangover?
Happy cheese lover’s day! Breakfast was toasted olive-walnut sourdough with a smear of PICANDINE Pico Goat Brie and a dab of fig preserves. Lovers of goat cheese will enjoy this. Another favorite goat cheese is Laura Chenel spreadable goat cheese.
My SOTD is SJP’s Covet. The dry down in a few hours will be so enjoyable.
Made BBQ Smoked salmon and asparagus for supper yesterday. I only eat oily fish such as tuna and salmon because it’s healthy, sad to say, I enjoy it. Here’s yesterday’s healthy supper.
Love Covet! I love every part but the drydown is perfect.
My favorite goat cheese is Humboldt Fog, from a creamery in Northern Cali called Cypress Grove. Delicious!
I like their Humboldt Fog and their Midnight Moon.
Ohhh, I looked up Midnight Moon, need to try that one!
Humboldt Fog is a classic! ?
I’ve had the Humboldt Fog, it’s delicious!
Thanks to everyone for the yummy sounding goat cheese recs!
That dinner looks delish! I find it hard to verify sustainably sourced seafood choices where I’m living currently and man, I miss salmon… even more so looking at that plate!
Yes! And wild-salmon is so expensive!
SOTM is Ummagumma. Have been awake for three hours already, just finished winding a skein of yarn into a ball (really wish I’d had the yarn shop do that), and am about to take a sip of my second latte of the morning. Ah, retirement.
You smell fabulous!
I don’t much care for winding either, but I prefer to do it by hand myself. It’s usually a two day project winding each skein though.
Jealous of your retirement ? I still have so many years to got that counting them would not be a productive exercise.
Retirement sounds sooo good. Enjoy it!
Morning, Sheri! I had a super-wiggly kiddo years ago who struggled to sit and “be good” during traditional class activities. I use yarn for science labs and demonstrations, and I had a box of random bits in storage. I started giving this boy yarn at the start of class and had him wind it into balls for me. It required both of his hands and a little attention (to make a ball and not a mess), but not so much that he couldn’t also listen to the instructions for the day. He settled into class when he was winding yarn and while I wouldn’t say he became an amazing student, it did increase his positive participation in class. I think we both really liked how it meant he wasn’t being corrected so often and reduced the stress for both of us.
I love this, Marjorie – brilliant and compassionate. ❣️
That is both brilliant and observant of you!!! A++ teacher!
Woke up with achy fingers, so of course it’s overcast today. At least it’s nice and cool though.
I’m wearing my true love, Champagne parfum. No specific reason for breaking out the good stuff today….
Stay safe everyone!
Oooh, the good stuff makes its own occasion!
A soldier has spent years in a distant land. The mission was so dangerous that orders prohibited the platoon from messages home, lest the soldier’s indentities and location be gleaned by the enemy
The soldier has now returned to the door where lived the true love not seen in years. But the door is locked. Knocks do not summon anyone to the door. The shades are drawn. The soldIer sinks to the concrete steps, and breathes deeply but can not forestall the worst thoughts:. There is a plague upon the land; has the true love been stricken?
A vibration stirs within the soldier’s breast. The soldier checks her phone; A message: But not from the true love; a merchant is offering returning veterens a 5% discount.
Still, the soldier’s senses returns. She can again use her phone. She sends a missive to the true love:
“My darling where RU? I have crossed clouds and seas, and the damned rush hour tie up by exit 17 to get to you.”
The true love texts back. “Silly Girl. Y would I b at house? NosEy Roomie still around. Waiting, where first we met.”
The soldier runs into the woods behind the house. Her love on a mossed stained rock.
The soldier breathlessly pants: “Even when standing watch in the dark of night, even in the midst of battle, you have been the air I have breathed. I bring you rare incenses to show that I have always been graced by the mystery of our love.”
The lover sighs, “Just shut up and kiss me.”
Reader, she married him. And then became a best selling romance writer. And they bought their own home and lived happily ever after.
SOTD Moss Breeches
So glad I’d finished my last swallow of coffee before reading this, thus avoiding the need for upholstery cleaner. ?
Omg died! This was AWESOME thank you for it!
Chanel La Pausa
Yum. You smell great today Barqs!
Working on the large sample, or maybe small decant of Heliotrope. It’s a grey day, so maybe should have put on something more perky as it’s too spot-on.
Started sunny here but grey now, and I’ve moved on to Azemour Les Orangers
I’m wearing Remarkable People today. It doesn’t last longer than about 3 hours on my skin but I love the opening so much that I don’t mind reapplying.
Cheese lovers day? It’s the day made for me! ?❤️
Yes! Double cream brie and a BIG glass of pinot noir!
We’re having champagne tonight, but you’re welcome to come over if you bring some brie!
Oh how I wish I could!
Am having Champagne later on tonight with a lovely cheese called Drunken Hooligan.
I will raise my flute towards the sunset and toast you!
I’m in Eau Premiere. Surely if Cinderella wore perfume, this might be it. Sparkly and beautiful.
It was only 10 degrees out when I left for work this morning and it felt cold! I guess that’s what I get for recently talking about the mild winter we’ve had.
That’s a great one for her! Or maybe L’eau?
Yes! I think either would be great!
LOL, I tried to warn you! I got about an inch and a half of snow but it feels like a foot to me. Lot’s of wind too. You smell wonderful Cinderella!
Great band too.
Lol, you did! I shouldn’t have said anything, I totally cursed myself. We got about an inch of snow too.
I agree, perfect scent for Cinderella!
I pegged the fairy godmother for vintage 5 cologne yesterday – clearly, No.5 and that fairy tale are meant to be together!
Ooh, yes! That’s perfect for the fairy godmother and then it makes total sense that Cinderella would be in Eau Premiere or L’ Eau.
Oh, you smell wonderful and yes, I do think Cinderella would have worn the same!
love your scent and fairytale pairing
Wearing And the World is Yours for this auspicious day. Finally got some sleep last night too, hallelujah.
Such a great perfume. It deserves a more elaborate bottle.
Yes, the bottle is so small and plain I miss seing it and don’t wear it often enough. They now make a 30 ml bottle but unfortunately the design is just as blah.
Hooray for sleep and good days!
Yes indeed. When I’m exhausted, the world and life can get so dark it’s hard to function.
Another cheer for sleep!! I do love sleep.
Another member of the Good Sleep fan club!
On world UNacceptance Day.
Spent the morning in no 5 trying to do a couple little cleaning projects before work. Now I am at work wearing Hedonist Iris. When I get home, more cleaning projects.
I am way behind on cleaning lately too Dawn. Good luck getting it all done!
I accidentally spilled half my sample of Le Galion’s Snob (modern formula) on my bed and hands and skirt ?? i wonder what my dreams will be tonight.
I smelt apple….thats Snow White. Ha!
I have Osmanthus Interdite on one arm and Cuir de Chine on my other.
Interdite is bit like a disney princess in the garden: beautiful, fresh and uplifting but also a bit boring after a while (on my skin it fades into a very light clean musk)
Cuir de Chine is an osmanthus as well but with the suede/leather and buttery side amped up. This scent keeps fascinating me. More like Mulan….lovely girl but clad in leather and ready to kick your butt. ?
I found Cuir de Chine pretty fascinating as well.
It starts on me with a note of musty rough leather (not entirely pleasant I might add) and after about 1 hour the leather slowly fades and what I smell is fruit: peach, maybe apricot? Then the most gorgeous osmanthus comes through and pretty much stays until the end. Up close I think I can smell the suede facets of osmanthus but where is that sharp leather note at the beginning coming from? Very curious about that. The notes/ingredients listed mention only tobacco (in a small percentage) besides the flowers.
The notes mentioned dont paint the full picture. But thats often the case with perfume marketing, right?
With most scents from thar brand i get lots of other smells than only those printed in the booklet.
Maybe the jasmine dirties things up in Cuir de Chine? but it could be something else as well.
You’re right of course ?
I’m in Olfactive Studio Iris Shot. I think Alice would appreciate this one, especially as a perfume to be worn at one of the tea parties with Mad Hatter.
You smell nice!
Here’s my song of the day
I had zero sleep, and am being lazy today. I’m wearing TF Orchid Soliel and waiting for fragrance net to sell out of Terracotta so I can stop thinking about buying it. LOL. Feel free to enable ??
If you really really love it and the price is right, empty that cart with a purchase! Disenabling goes against my nature ?.
I do love it, it’s the price I’m not happy with. They could do better, lol.
Maybe get a travel spray of the Terracotta?
Received my order of Zoologist samples yesterday and I’m starting (well, minus the previous loves that made me order the full set) with Bat. It fits the CP because…something something vampires? This is the reformulated version, which they’re kind enough to note on the card. Just sprayed it on about 20 minutes ago but I love the initial burst – tropical fruit stomped on by muddy hiking boots. It looks like the original is being sold under another name now, I might have to try that one out too.
What are you guys’ favorites from this line?
T-Rex and Bee and they couldn’t be more different from each other! I also liked Squid but I am allergic to something in it. I am most curious about Snowy Owl.
Snowy Owl is included! Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow and report back.
Yes, do report back on Snowy Owl! The drawing of the owl is adorable. I’ve only tried Camel.
I have loved smelling all the samples I managed to get my hands on, and think they are marvelous in the first hour. After that, there’s a distinct skank that I don’t love that seems to occur in most scents from this line. My favorites to smell thus far have been Dragonfly and Elephant (so green!), oh, and Camel was really good.
The “full collection” sample set has everything EXCEPT Dragonfly. Maybe that one’s about to get reformulated too?
I thought I saw something about an imminent reformulation for Dragonfly, and I can’t recall where that was.
I tried only a couple – hummingbird, macaque, and Dodo. Loved Dodo, didn’t like m., felt eh about hummingbird.
The original bat is called “night flyer” and sold by Olympic Orchids. Very reasonable and fun sample sets there!
I’ve tried a couple from Olympic Orchids and liked them. Maybe a bigger sample set is in order!
My favorites so far are Bee, Panda and Hummingbird.
Another vote for Bee. I like honey notes so I have a feeling I’ll be another fan.
Love love love love: Sloth. Forewarned is forearmed, it is *challenging* about 20 minutes in. Try not to let that wet hay/chamomile defeat you! The drydown of this fragrance is the most glorious thing ever, and it truly wouldn’t be the same without that midsection.
Musk Deer followed by the original Bat (so, the one you can now get from Olympic Orchids).
I’m also intrigued by Squid and need to sample it again. Have not tested Snowy Owl yet. Have sampled almost everything else. Most are pleasant but only Musk Deer was a strong love.
Lady Vengeance for the wicked queen in Snow White. I think she’d smell like this, too: mostly beautiful but a touch sharp and cruel.
That sounds amazing.
I was thinking the same thing for the bad witch from sleeping beauty!!
I must have been channeling Cheese Lovers’ Day because I had brioche bread with cream cheese this morning and I am just now finishing an fried egg over easy with Asiago and mozzarella cheese!
SOTD = Tom Ford Lost Cherry
My turn to wear this – so delicious and the bottle is red ?!
In other news, I really ought to eat most of the shelf-stable and frozen foods I had bought at the beginning of COVID awareness to probably early fall. Not quite panic-buying but just not wanting to “have to” go out to the grocery. As it had turned out and continue to do so, I typically make my rounds of groceries every weekend and I have been eating all the newly-bought stuff first because why freeze a fresh item if I can eat it within a reasonable time from purchase? Anyway, it looks like I am back to having my chicken noodle soup at least once a week and then I have to decide on which of the frozen stuff to start eating (and continue to eat for a few days until I get sick of it … and I am unpredictable).
Does anyone have a similar issue with an overabundance of food?
yes, I do! I was at the grocery store last March when I was getting texts that there was going to be some serious government issued shut down and grocery stores would close – it turned out it was a rumor, but I bought a ton of diced tomato and flour, because that’s what was on the shelf – thanks for the reminder to use it up.
I may only have 2-3 cans of tomato sauce but have a ton of pasta! And I was spurred to buy when I saw that some groceries were quantity limited and they were being enforced.
And I bought flour and yeast with grand plans to bake bread. I even bought a book. So far, I have not baked anything ☺️
Ha! Baking is fun and punching the dough can help get aggressions out!
I second this! Slapping dough around is great for stress relief!
You make it sound supremely appealing!
I bought alot of rice, and odd can goods. I’ve also got in the habit of buying extra hamburger when it’s on sale. I never want to pay covid meat prices again! I just have to remember to rotate it buy date.
We are house twins!
Woo hoo for being house twins!
I have to see what proteins I have in the freezer,
Mostly my spouse did this for canned goods (we don’t have a big enough freezer, and it’s full of puff pastry since Trader Joe’s carries this seasonally only and I must not run out :). He also created pantry space in the garage, which is handy, but leads to us forgetting to what we have because it’s out of view. I could probably not shop for a good 3 weeks and be fine.
That’s good! I probably have 4+ months’ worth but will run out of veggies and fruits in about 2-3 weeks.
I consumed a lot of my shelf stable stuff long ago: dried beans, rice, quinoa, pasta, tinned tomatoes, anchovies, tuna. I put in a veggie garden and I have just finished all that I could from that.
I’ve got all of the above except anchovies and tuna…and no vegetable garden.
You smell amazing!
I think I’ve gone through several cycles of stocking up and then consuming and re-stocking up since this pandemic started. But there are probably some non-perishables I panic-bought and haven’t touched since!
Time to hunt them down! I have been more conscious of expiration dates but I know I missed some. All my chicken noodle soup are good until February 2022 so I better start eating them.
We did, but when we were packing to move I used up everything, because I refused to move food. I’m being very careful not to overstock the new fridge and cupboards.
I bought soooo much frozen spinach. I mean, I like spinach but it was way over the top.
Moving helps for sure! I hear you on the frozen spinach. At the height of the grocery “shortage”, pretty much only frozen cauliflowers and cauliflower pizza were left.
Yes, we are diligently trying to consume the contents of the freezer. The pantry is next.
Good for you. I’ve started but there’s a lot to go through.
Not so much an overabundance as certain things hanging around for a while.
At least you know what’s been hanging around! I do too but there’s a lot of the ones I bought.
I have a ridiculous amount of beef jerky and meat sticks, plus two large canisters of protein powder. Haven’t had a protein shake in weeks. I’ve put a box of meat sticks near my desk so Iv remember to eat them when I’m feeling snackish.
We also have 2 refrigerators and a small chest freezer, all of which are fairly full, for a household of 2. ?
You have way more refrigerated stuff than me!
Wearing Salome today since I’m working from home and can stink the place out! But happily it works for the CP, as long as we are OK with counting biblical stories. Maybe I’ll wear it again on Friday…
Breathing a bit of a sigh of relief today, and going off to enjoy a cheeseless lunch. I hate cheese!
You don’t stink, it’s a fabulous scent and very glamorous.
I’ll eat any cheese that tries to sneak into your plate!
I will do my best to eat my share of the cheese, so it stays well away from you!
I will do my best to eat my share of the cheese, so it stays well away from you!
Ohhhhh you smell great. I am jealous! (It’s near the top of my want list)
Joining you, Robin, in I Love Les Carottes. It doesn’t get much wear time around here, so this week is a good opportunity to use it.
Isn’t every day Cheese Lover’s Day?
Oh yay, hey twin!!! (And yes, of course it is!!!)
in Carnal Flower today, one spray on my decollate, potent stuff!
One of my resolutions is to wear perfume every day in 2021, since I have all my new habits on a to do list app, i’ve been pretty good so far. Why is checking items off a list so satisfying??
I don’t know, but it is satisfying for me too. I keep my to do list in Evernote and I love deleting things when they’re done.
Zagorsk. This would fit some of the Russian fairytales.
I’m sure it would!
Off today to take my mom to a lower back procedure. I am waiting for her to come out and I am dying to have a cup of coffee because I am falling asleep, but there is no way I can bring my mask down to even have a sip of water. I have to wait until we are back home.
I took a very early shower with a
Fresh Sea Salt bar soap from A la Maison de Provence. I love the softness and the salty marine smell of this soap. And I sprayed lavishly on L’Artisan Un Air de Bretagne to have enough energy to face the long day.
I will have a glass of wine and sushi for dinner while watching the news tonight. I need to relax and rest before I am back to my working day tomorrow.
Have a safe and healthy day, everyone! ?
Sushi sounds great! I haven’t had any good sushi in a looong time.
The Japanese restaurant in my area is really good and their sushi is fantastic! I am really craving for it ?.
Dropping in to say that I also love, love, love the scent of Swedish Sea Salt soap. Interesting because I really dislike most marine perfumes. Now I want to try the one you mention!
Oh! Give it a try if you have a chance. It is French milled and the quality is amazing! I am sure you will like it!
If you get a chance to watch the poem from Amanda Gorman, it’s well worth it. She was amazing!!!
“The Hill We.Climb”, absolutely beautiful and moving. Amanda Gorman, such a young great talent with a great future as a poet!
I hope all goes well with your mom, and you can drink coffee soon!
Thank you, Lillyjo. We are back home now. I am sure once the anesthesia wears off it is going to be tough, but I hope she starts getting some relief soon. Thanks God I already had my coffee! I am more awake now! ☕?
I hope the procedure went well! On sushi, I haven’t had any since COVID; however, when I can once a week, I would get a poke bowl from Wegmans. For the past 2 weeks, the tuna bowl was $4 off and with the savings, I also got sashimi which cost 4x the savings ??.
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
I love sashimi! Good that you were able to indulge in some with the “savings”. Worth the price! ?
Glad that you and your mom are back home, everyone is OK, and you got caffeinated! How was your sushi?
Thank you, Jalapeno! Sushi was great! I really enjoyed it!
I felt a need to thunk something today (happy thunk!) and picked a small decant of Vientiane. Let’s see – there’s a bitterness to it that means I need a gorgeous yet cruel stepmother. I guess Snow white’s evil queen fits that bill!
Yay for a happy thunk!
Hello! Scent last night/this morning was CdG Avignon, since I found my little bag of samples. I don’t know what I’ll try this afternoon or, more likely, at bedtime.
Report back when you get to Kyoto! I’ve been so curious about that one. The only one I’ve tried is Avignon.
Glad you found those CdG samples!
1) SOTD: I am in Joy.
1a) House SOTD: Martha Stewart Snowy Pines candle.
1b) And now onwards.
2) Sigh. So back into work- finished a couple of onboarding tech reports and have a full year performance review to do.
Hermes 24 Faubourg seems right today for the dress I’m wearing, which is orange and yellow. I’m sure there is a fairytale that’s a perfect fit, I’ll reflect on that during the day.
This scent is so bright, big without being gaudy, and “proper” to me, like I should be at the opera. Maybe it’s what Christine would wear in Phantom of the Opera? Except, it doesn’t smell like an ingenue. . . maybe more like Kitty Carlisle in A Night at the Opera. Ha! So, no fairy tale points for me, but I’m good with Marx Brothers.
Love Ubar! You smell wonderful. Maybe Sleeping Beauty’s mother? Regal, mannered.
Wearing Belles Rives and dreaming of a sunny warm day spent reading on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Joining you in the dream…and the day after lets visit a museum or walk in the mountains oh sigh…. i miss trips lile that so much.
I would so love to visit Brussels again or Antwerp and have a good old wander around the streets and just enjoy the distinctive charm of Belgian cities.
And I want to go to Nice, so I can visit the Chagall museum there again.
..and Gent would be nice to visit again as well. but Antwerp and Brussels are more vibrant.
I spent one day in Nice a few years ago on our way to Corsica.
We did not have that much time, so we had to choose what we would do, but i am so glad we decided to visit the Chagall Museum. ?
I spent 6 days in Nice a couple of years ago, and the Musée Biblique was my favourite, but it’s a good city for museums all round. Plus it is truly lovely. There was snow on the Alps then, and Nice itself is mostly tints of orange and red and the Mediterranean is very blue, so the colours were just stunning.
On another note: have you tried Belles Rives? It’s a rather stunning iris.
No I havent…i looked it up on fragrantica. Jt sounds great!
SOTD is Bois des Iles again. I think the gingerbread note in the extreme dry down would count towards CP!
Breakfast was sourdough toast with butter and some old guava jam from a friend in Hawaii. I’m trying hard to finish up things from the pantry before buying new ones, and jam is such a weakness of mine.
I have neglected jam in the fridge …
Happy Inauguration Day, friends! It’s sunny and not too chilly here and if I’m quite honest I am not getting much work done I’m wearing Ambre Narguilé, which invokes Goldilocks and the Three Bears, since it is juuuuuuust right.
Ha! Good match.
Wearing Iris 39 today. I may have to add a couple drops of the oil to my wrists to round it out. There must be CP compliance in this scent somewhere!
Happy day, everyone!
Happy Day Gail?
Hi lillyjo!! I even made cookies! It was THAT kind of day!
Eau Lente during the day but this evening I’m wearing a comfort scent Prada l’Eau Ambrée.
Inquiring if anyone has tried the new Guerlain L’Initial, which is a slightly reformulated version of Shalimar Parfum Initial? I am not a Shalimar fan, but this sounds quite different from the regular Shalimar, with lots of gourmand notes. My curiosity is piqued.
I recently acquired a sample and will try it soon. I happen to adore Shalimar, so you know
I look forward to your report!
I have a sample and to me it is similar to Shalimar Initial -I can do a side by side comparison if this would help you, but to my nose its the same.
I never smelled Parfum Initial, but I read that they removed the vetiver note and added almond. Do you find it sweet, or does it smell a lot like original Shalimar?
Altaia Wonder of You today. Cheerful grapefruit and watermelon!
I keep reading that as “Alitalia” – and keep going – “an airline with a scent?” and “would that really be any good?”
Hahaa, I guess it depends on the scent!
Grapefruit sounds good to me, but not sure about a watermelon note.
It’s fruity, but not particularly sweet, so it works for me.
Coromandel from a carded sample. In the endless, trippy, fatiguing patchouli drydown. One of Cinderella’s tiresome stepsisters would do.
Not a love, I suppose? Was it the EDT or EDP?
EDP. Big no. I wish there was a Chanel other than No 19 I loved.
That sounds like it was a “Nope!” for you.
Oh, those carrots look delish! One thing I learned when we had a CSA membership was how much tastier those carrots were as opposed to the ones in the grocery stores. Time to hit the farmer’s markets this year?
Cold, windy, and changeable clouds here today. Brrrrrrrrrr. Glad that I pulled out some heavier wool socks today.
SOTD = Soivohle Paracelsus, from the sample stash. Dark chocolate, roses, leather, patchouli, and a bunch of other stuff in this one. No fairy tale or fable connection that I can come up with, though.
Are you closer to a larger size?
It was cold ? and windy ? today so I did an abbreviated walk but still got some sun.
Ummmmmm… maybe? ??
That wind just knifed through the layers I was wearing when I walked down to the mailbox this afternoon. Unpleasant!
Freezing cold day twins! I did see the sun briefly though. Your perfume sounds so awesome. You should get it!
I may or may not have purchased a travel size earlier this afternoon/evening…
Cuir de Lancôme, which I usually save as a “going out” scent because I find it just so beautiful. But…I decided to treat myself, even as I walked the 1.5 miles to Trader Joe’s. I may need to spritz some more for the evening.
Tired. Yesterday included some emotional outbursts, and I just became weary by the end of the day and struggled to shut down for sleep. Only way I can settle down is to pull up a book and read long enough to “reset” my brain, which I did about 2 am.
I have been having bad sleep too!
Sounds like a good book that you are into
Oh I’ve moved on… I didn’t care for one of them, and just skimmed to the end. Last night I chose to read a short story. I’ve started to have a couple of books going, one of which is audio to listen while I make sandwiches each week. None are very deep.
I hope that you are feeling more settled today LizzieB.
SotD = Eau des Merveilles
because yay for Merveilles! Today feels like a good day for EdM. I would be walking on the sand and breathing salty air if I had my way today. Alas, I do not.
Yesterday’s accidentally-overly-zealous application of POTL Luctor et Emergo left a splash on my desk and on a scarf I left on my chair. The drydown of that perfume on fabric is GORGEOUS.
I spent most of today wearing that scarf as close to my nose as I could while zoom meeting all day. People can get weird if you cover part of your face during a video call. Who knew?
Are PotL and Eau des Merveilles playing well together?
they ARE and it makes me so happy.
EdM seems to layer nicely over the dregs of most scents. Likewise, the drydown of EdM will amp up another scent in interesting ways, even a day later!
Very late check in but SotD some of my Viktoria Minya custom. It makes me think of what Lady Cottington’s Pressed Fairy Book might smell like, with aromas of squashed cassis, flowers, pepper, sandalwood and a hint of leather.
Thank you to everyone for the anniversary wishes! This is the t-bone gluttony (Mr. Teebear’s portion, I sensibly had only half of mine):
We didn’t even have room for the dessert I got ?
The whole plate looks delicious! Happy anniversary!
Cuir Garamante today which is totally hitting the spot to make up for the miss yesterday haha!
Currently looking at fairy tales trying to pick one for Friday. Hmmm…
Late post as per usual. SOTD was Confessions of a Garden Gnome, which is perfect for the CP. No gnome tales come to mind, but there must be some!
