Memo Argentina ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 28 December 2020 19 Comments

French niche line Memo has launched Argentina, a new fragrance in the brand's Art Land collection.

Here, the sun is a smiling character. Warm and welcoming as the oud. Here, the birds called hornero have a surprising, catchy and intense way of singing and calling their partners. Like a tango. This nomadic dance, symbol of travel, of the mixture of cultures and shared traditions expresses the constant surprise that is life. A surprise like a touch of ambrette accompanied by a rose. The dancers are listening to their movements, full of audacity. She wears a rose in her hair, her heels draw a corolla on the floor. Jasmine and Magnolia slip between their shoulders and waist. A heart of cypriol and benzoin resin accompany their heartbeat. Here the ingredients come into play. Offering a dancing formula, delicate, full of boldness, like a new and confident call. Here, the earth resonates with the dancers' steps, the sky is colored with birds' songs and the air is filled with an enveloping perfume.

Additional notes for the floral aromatic include pink pepper.

Memo Argentina is available now at Harvey Nichols in the UK, £215 for 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

Whoever Memo hired to be their graphic designer should get a raise. Their labels are always so beautiful!

They can divert the funds from the copy writer.

I was thinking that. After wading through the copy, I have no idea if I would even want to try this.

I wish Memo would consider releasing a fragrance that pays tribute to Eastern European heritage like Polish or Russian :)

They do – Russian Leather, Winter Palace, and maybe more. You can look at Fragrantica and / or the brand’s website for a more complete list.

I love the name Winter Palace – actually thought it had something to do with C. Anderson’s Snow Queen but it seems like it’s a reference to China! They do manage to work in a reference to a ‘Siberian Winter’ in the copy for Russian Leather though :D

I actually associate Winter Palace with the one in St. Petersburg.

And for the perfume copywriters, I don’t even read the text that comes with perfumes.

Yes, I think I also thought of the Tsar’s Winter Palace! Was a bit surprised to see a Chinese dragon on the bottle 😊Presumably the notes reflect something about the culture but it’s all fantasy regardless…

Wow. Love the design of the bottle. ❤️ Most Memo bottles are gorgeous.

But I the copy writing here is just ridiculous. 🤪

As for the price tag…. Also slightly ridiculous but ive seen much much worse and hey for 75 ml its not that outrageous. 😉 So borderline acceptable for a split OR if this is one of your favourite scents ever OR you have some money to burn 😂

I always come back to the question of whether – if I had THAT much to burn, whether I would burn it this way :D

      Given my general perfume expenditure…maybe!

(Decants and splits are not really done where I live so that temptation is not there!)

The label is gorgeous, love their art more than their scents.
