Hump Day, International Anti-Corruption Day and Pastry Day. Happy birthday to Judi Dench! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm finally accruing some community project points, with Balenciaga Paris L'Eau Rose.
Reminder: on 12/11, wear a perfume with violet, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am following up on my post yesterday by matching a cherry print mask and Lost. Cherry, although I did not actually spray the scent into the mask.
Nice! You smell great and I’m sure the mask is cute.
I like the idea of a scented mask, but not sure what I would want….
Adorable! ?
Buongiorno-
testing some Henry Rose samples I got in the mail the other day.
So far I am meh about everything I am trying, one that I didn’t scrub off is Queens and Monsters.
After the shower, and wash most of these off I will report my SOTD
Back in Gabrielle essence
Chanel foundation and eye make up
Christian Louboutin Rose Petal lippy
I really like Gabrielle Essence and I can actually see that as a signature fragrance for some one (meaning me) if I did not like Eau Premiere or Cap Neroli so much. You smell and look fab.
Interesting thought.
Honestly, I didn’t care for the original Gabrielle.
I think I am gravitating so much to the Essence these days is 1. To finish my sample 2. Peach! The peach note in this makes me so very happy.
YES!
I was ‘meh’ with Gabrielle; but G Essence is really, really good. That peach note I feel really makes it, though, and I can absolutely see this as a everyday signature scent- that quick spritz just before going out the door.
I have taken this one in and out of my online basket at the Sephora website, during their insider sales event (which ends today, no affiliation)
You said the magic words, and so I ordered a sample: Peach note!
Oakland-I could of sent you the rest of my sample. One spray is all you need.
Uh oh. Peach. I’m a sucker for a good peach note.
I stopped in Bloomies on my way home from sandwich making. Got the SA to spritz on Gabrielle Essence. Oh dear. I quite like it. To me, I t’s a lighter version of the Allure EdP that belonged to my mom. Definitely peach.
Lemming hard. If I end up with this, LtSG will have earned multiple enabler pins from me.
Lizzie, its been in and out of my shopping cart. I get it. Its so peachy and 100 times better than the original.
Good morning Y’all,
My nose is currently confused! Wearing D&G Dolce Garden, and when my nose is right on my skin I get coconut/almond milk and vanilla. But when my wrist is down I get stale cigarette smoke? Wondering if I’m getting a bit of the sandalwood mixed up in my olfactory memory….
Smelly good luck! Yesterday I had to stop by Belk to pick up a new belt, because my jeans were a little loose and I kept havin’ to hitch ’em up and was it was gettin’ annoying and yadda yadda yadda. But anyhoo….they’ve been putting scratch-off coupons in the pickup bags, and I scratched off a $100 gift card! YAY ME!!! Only good for this week, so I ordered a bottle of Lolita Lempicka EdP and some Angel shower gel as soon as I got back to work! You’re probably wondering why I didn’t spend the money on a gift for someone? I did….ME! HA HA HA 🙂
That’s so awesome!
Hooray! Gotta take care of yourself first…..
First congrats on the loose jeans – that is something I am contending with myself. Second congrats on the amazing luck. Hope it continues.
I should absolutely clarify that the loose jeans aren’t because of my slim figure or weight loss of any type…..it’s because they are ill-fitting! HA HA HA 🙂
Ha! That’s awesome!?
loose jeans and a gift card?? so lucky
: D!
That is so awesome! Enjoy your new fumes.
Congratulations! That’s awesome.
Nice find 🙂 and nice presents-to-self!
Yay on the gift card – and boo on clothes that don’t fit properly. Do report back on the D & G Garden – coconut/almond milk/vanilla sounds lovely, though maybe predictable?
I get a bit of vanilla, but mostly now it’s the sandalwood and some milky softness. Not bad at all, but definitely not one I’d seek a full bottle of. I have a Scentbird decant which is perfect for me!
Decants are great for squishing lemmings!
Woo hoo!
Yay for loose jeans, scratch offs and new bottles! Congrats!
How lovely!
Hurray! It’s so nice to get an unexpected gift.
Have you thought about picking up a lottery ticket?
Lempika is always cheering.
Wearing I ❤️ YY which has violet leaf as a listed note so close enough. Trying to figure out if I should make a decant of it for Hawaii. So far thinking that I’ll bring some Gardenia Batik, Le Wild, The Bergamot
Did not chime in yesterday since the thread was already so long, but really hope you guys find a perfect rental and have a wonderful winter in Hawaii!
And of course, I am jealous as all get out 🙂
Our rental is a studio with a lanai big enough to be a quasi living room about a block from Waikiki beach. I’m still a little incredulous that we just BOOM! decided like that
You know, I have absolutely no violette in my collection? I did just get a decant with violette as a secondary note, which I will wear Friday, but violette is not one I’ve worked on sniffing. I may have to change that. Anybody have a good first time violette fragrance they really like? Oh, and today I’m wearing Bottega Veneta.
I don’t think I have any violet either.
violet violet violet – I do know how to spell.
You know how to spell. You were just speaking in zee French.
*writing.
You smell fabulous today.
Some notable violets: Madame Jolie (violet petals in a patent black leather glove) Iris Nuit (ethereal iris & violet) Ormonde Jayne Women (Violets in a green forest – however I’m anosmic to the iso E super she uses so my description is questionable) Violaceum (warm sunny violet with a little carrot).
And of course CDG’S Stephen Jones: violets covered in lonely asteroid dust.
YES.
I love violet and violet leaf notes, and violet-iris combos, and violet-rose combos, and plummy violet, and lipstick violet, and candied violet, and as Merlin calls it-asteroid violent–and no doubt quite a few I’ve neglected to mention here!
I Miss Violet by TDC has lovers and haters on this forum. I quite like it. Goes on pretty periwinkle purple, and morphs into something that is creamy, floral, and suede-y.
whoops. That was supposed to be asteroid violet. I don’t usually bother to correct my many typos–but Stephen Jones as ‘asteroid violent’ must be some Freudian typo!
I was grinning at that one! Though I completely forgot about lipstick violets, they may be really good gateway ones: Misia, Lipstick on, Lipstick Rose…
Borsari’s used to be wonderful. Also my favorite Atelier Cologne: Sous Le Toit.
https://nstperfume.com/2013/07/05/atelier-cologne-sous-le-toit-de-paris-fragrance-review/
Balenciaga Paris is a nice pick for potential violet-phobes.
Thank you all for your kind words yesterday.
What a pretty bird on today’s pic! it kind of looks like a violet – green bottom and violet top.
I am copying thegoddessrena (yesterday’s scent) – MCG Exultat. A sweet resinous violet, great for cold weather.
You smell wonderful, and I thought the same thing about that bird. 🙂
Well that’s why I picked it!
Love it – but I might not have got it if others had not commented. @_@
I put on Rosine Rose d’Homme last night and it still smells wonderful this morning. I’m thinking of wearing some Bottega Veneta on top to accent the leather, or DSH American Beauty to bring out more rose. Or maybe just another spray of Rose d’Homme :).
By now I am sure you picked the right thing ??
I’m in VCA Bois d’Iris. I needed something unobtrusive so I can concentrate on finishing a paper today. Ugh, I’d rather be at work. I got a decent start on it yesterday but having it hanging over my head caused me to have some strange and stressful dreams last night. I’m starting to run out of steam. Glad the semester is over in 11 more days. At least the sun is back today.?
Thanks to all the congrats yesterday, I called back and said yes! I am definitely interested in a scholarship.
a good friend of mine always said, “If free, take it!”
very happy for your windfall and that the end of your semester is in sight. 🙂
Thanks tiffanie! Wise words, my dh always says “if it’s free, it’s for me”?
My words of encouragement for the paper.
https://youtu.be/DBIg6FcSjy4
Don’t hurt yourself laughing ?
LOL? thanks! I needed that.
We just recently rewatched 50 First Dates and Rob Sneider is hilarious in that movie. I love the part where Drew Barrymore beats him silly with a baseball bat (is that bad?)?
You can do it, final line drive to the finish!
Thanks cazaubon!?
I missed your scholarship news yesterday, congrats! And you know I think you smell perfect!
Thanks KellyC!? Love this one, it’s my favorite Iris.
C’mon, you can do it!
SotD = Cedre Sambac
from a sample, generously shared by a lovely NSTer. Thank you!
I like it, cedar and jasmine are favorite notes for me. But honestly it smells like soap at first, that all too often default-for-scented-hand-soap smell. It may be developing into something more interesting, time will tell.
Love that Costa’s hummingbird up top today. One has been sighted in my neighborhood a few times over the years. I have two neighbors who feed them, so we see many hummers. Here’s a fun video from pbs showing the Costa’s mating dance:
https://www.audubon.org/news/watch-male-costas-hummingbird-puts-one-wild-mating-display
Wishes for a happy day to Dame Dench and to all who celebrate a birthday or milestone today. My milestone for today is waking up and getting dressed for school on time. 😀
Cèdre Sambac smells a little different every time I wear it, it’s a shapeshifter on me. My milestone today will be a yoga class. 🙂
thank you for mentioning that, cazaubon. 🙂 I seem to remember Cedre Sambac was woodier last time I tried it. The magic and mystery of perfume, perhaps?
You smell wonderful. My milestone is not going off on a houseguest we have this week. Grrrrr.
ha! pesky houseguest, the only thing to do is smother them with kindness until they beg for mercy and leave. 🙂
You are smelling great today !!
thank you, Barqs! 🙂 I enjoyed Cedre Sambac more than I thought I would, it really developed a lot for a Hermessence scent.
My milestone was popping a huge frozen lasagna in the oven for dinner tonight. Leftovers will be lunch!
mmmm, I love leftover lasagne, eaten cold straight from the fridge. 😀
Today is my Friday as I’m taking the next two days off to have some fun, do some Christmas preparation and mailing, oh and get a mammogram. Wearing Lost Cherry and planning how to get a little yoga in today. (I baked brown butter pecan pie bars last night. So good with my coffee!)
Pecan bars sound amazing!
Mmm, pecan bars!! Joining you in yoga today.
I love just about anything with brown butter in it. I bet your house smelled amazing.
Enjoy your time off!
Send me a pecan bar to go with my coffee!
Enjoy your days off! Those pecan bars sound amazing, brown butter chocolate chip cookies are the best I’ve ever tasted.
Try brown butter in rice krispie treats. Amazing.
Ooh, that’s sounds delicious! I’ll have to try that!
I would never have thought to do that! Wow!
Good for you getting your mammogram! I’m going for mine next week. Gotta do the regular check up things in spite of pandemic, if you can do them safely. I haven’t had the guts to go to the dentist in a while, though … that seems way too close for comfort, lol, mostly because I have a slight dentist phobia.
Anti-corruption and pastry! Sign me up!! I’m spending most of this week criss-crossing the sooty woods to plan some future prescribed burn units, and today I’m in liberal spritzings of No.19 EDP for its dual powers of evoking my inner wood nymph and giving me a sort of armour of strength and poise and professional/intellectual keenness. Chanel goes well with a hard hat!
No 19 is wonderful!
Have a great time at work – I hope the Chanel wields its workplace wizardry.
Nice alliteration. ?
Go Isabella!!
You smell good!
I’d love to see an advertising campaign for Chanel perfume with that slogan!
Yes! No. 19 is my “armor” scent but you’re right, it’s also a wood nymph fragrance. Who says wood nymphs can’t also be tough when the need arises?
Gosh, you all, what a week at work so far. So many end of year activities, I have been so swamped. I’ve missed reading your comments and checking in.
I’m in Dzongkha today. Just because. I am so behind I wasn’t even sure what the project was for the week. Will have to do some digging for violet or see what you all wear, I don’t know what I have that fits.
One fun things though- my hubs gave me something small wrapped in bubble wrap last night and it was 4 Zoologist samples from Lucky Scent. I was excited of course, but the most exciting part is that surely that’s not all he ordered haha. I’m hoping that’s a sign that Santa has some juice under the tree or in my stocking for me this year. 🙂
Ha! What a great little surprise! I’m sure he knows that it would get you thinking what else he might have bought. Sneaky!
Love the sample gift as a pre-emptive strike at hinting about great things to come!
You smell great! And I’m betting that those samples came with a FB. 🙂
What a great hubby! And I live the way you smell today – Dzongkha is amazing.
Those are definitely promising bread crumbs!
Great about the samples — what a teaser! And Dzongkha is wonderful. Sometimes it is too much for me, and sometimes, too much is exactly what I need.
What a fantastic Hubby! I’m sure you can’t wait to see what’s under the tree. 🙂
Ooooo! Don’t snoop (go snoop)
Yeah, snooping is on order!
And report back….. of course.
That definitely sounds like Santa will be bringing you a full bottle.? What was on your wishlist?
That’s so sweet! Now, with four samples, you can extrapolate a price range and can make some educated guesses…
I’m so bad.
So you both work for the same company and are probably home at the exact same time ???. I suggest using Nacho as your snoopervisor.
Totally ? that your hubby got you perfume samples and ???
Testing out Black Opium this morning. I am going to be showering in a couple minutes. I will be switching to Shalimar Ode a la Vanille afterwards.
How did your coco mlle intense work out for you?
I haven’t received my package yet. Should be at place on Saturday.
Did you like the Black Opium?
It was an aquatic tuberose mess on me.
Yeeeek! That sounds like something to avoid!
My daughter’s Christmas present snooping has gone high tech. Yesterday I found her with my phone, looking at store e-mails and baskets! Luckily, the one she got a good look at was for an out of stock notification.
I’m wearing a tiny spray of AP Maitresse for the cp. This reminds me of a cleaned up sharper version of I Miss Violet.
Wow, that’s way beyond shaking the boxes! Time to change the lock code on the phone. 🙂
Hilarious!
Ha! I love that!
Ha, what a smart way to snoop for Christmas presents!
This is why I don’t sleep. I have to spend every moment available anticipating her next move!
That is very funny! Naughty girl…but I admit I snooped as a tween *blush.*
Ruh roh! Time to put a PIN on that phone! Or a password!
Definitely past time!
SoTD is Fate. Waiting for six Chanel Exclusifs samples and will report back with hits and misses.
Feeling a bit stuck today. I should start baking Christmas cookies, or decorating, or thinking about presents, but all I want to do is hide. Some of it’s the grey weather, some the cold, some the endless hangover of unpacking a big house into a much smaller house, with the zillions of decisions that ensue. All first world problems. Maybe a nap?
Have a great day all.
I’ve been feeling like hiding lately too, so I’ve given myself permission not to worry about Christmas stuff. It’s just not a year when I’m going to enjoy the holiday, so I’m not going to stress about details.
I hope you get to take that nap!
Thanks, Sistine. This is not a holiday year for many of us for sure. But taking a nap is in my control, so I will follow through!
Yeah, my wish to hide usually results in a nap!
You smell wonderful. I too am giving myself a break from any holiday decorating or baking, just not feeling festive. Plus your moving/unpacking situation would cause lots of decision fatigue. Be kind to yourself.
I stopped xmas baking years ago – I have found a great German farmer’s market stand that sells the cookies I do not bake, and better than I would. Just ate two of them with my tea….I hear you on decorating, though – luckily, the family was motivated and did care of that.
I bought some almond paste for cookies, but then found eating little scoops of the paste was just fine!
?that’s me with a jar of frosting!
I don’t spend enough time in the baking aisle. Does that come in a tube, a cannister or ?
I’ve seen it in a package like refrigerated cookie dough years and years ago…
Not looking there not looking there …
Finally wearing some violets with Une Fleur de Cassie. One of the fragrances that I actually think improved after reformulation. It is gorgeous and ever so slightly intimidating. Not that anyone is hoi g to be in these socially distanced times.
Hoi g = going to
I never did love FdC, so maybe I would like it better now?
I’m assuming this version won’t be very much to your liking either. My guess is it still is just not really your style.
Probably so, thanks.
Off to yoga in Korres Saffron & Iris, back to read later. Happy birthday to Judy Dench, I love watching her British series on PBS.
Her interviews on Graham Norton are quite entertaining as well.
No Violet for me, but I’ll do it for CP on Friday. Violet, to me, is a chilly scent. And our weather is brisk right now. But, I will go with either I silence or Sous le Toit on Friday.
So, I’m back in a bit of spice with Chinatown.
Got a steroid shot in my thumb yesterday because I was diagnosed with trigger thumb. So far, the thumb is still pretty sore. I hope the shot worked. It’s been very annoying.
Dinner and gift exchange was fun last. My scented contributions were appreciated. But…oh my! My friend’s tree was beautiful. For anyone who has visited the angel tree at The Met, hers is a smaller version. Just stunning. We were each Ed gifted with a poinsettia, which I promptly gifted to one of our doormen, since we have a cat. His wife will be happy.
I also find violet chilly! Even though it’s summer here I’m currently needing warm embracing perfumes so last week’s cookie CP worked well for me 😀 The one violet fragrance that I find warm – and which is therefore probably my favourite – is L’Artisan’s Violaceum.
Wow, LizzieB, your friend does a smaller Met tree?? That’s actually amazing. I’ve visited the tree at the Met many times (grew up near NYC and have family in the area still); to me, it is even more spectacular than the tree at Rockefeller Center. Such a lovely tradition!
ELdO Yes I Do today. I’m saving my one violet-focused sample for Friday.
The biggest and best news today is that my Covid test was negative! Won’t it be nice when we can assume a cold is just a cold again?
Hooray! I’m glad you got a negative result.
Yes — it will be nice. I am happy your test was negative.
So glad for you!
It will be very nice!
Yay!
Good news!?
Whoo hoo! Good news for sure!
Congrats! I had the same experience on Tuesday. Felt lots of weird chills on Monday, went for a test on Tuesday. Negative! I’m very thankful, as one of my daughters had the virus in October and was pretty miserable although she’s a very healthy twenty-something (she caught it from her teaching job with 4th graders). I’m glad to read your good news!
My mom ordered a bottle of Masque Milano Tango for me for Christmas. Well actually it was my pick and the thing is… I haven’t even smelled it yet. So why would I want that bottle as my xmas gift? The color of the juice is intense and out of this world gorgeous and maybe because I have been craving a good amber fragrance for this winter. Both my mom and I have been having amber on our minds recently. My mom bought a stunning 18k gold and amber ring and I wanted an amber perfume for xmas!! Since I know what I am getting from my mom, my gift might not be a surprise… but it is a surprise I am anticipating because after all it was a blind pick!! I can’t to test my new addition this Christmas!! So excited!!
Masque Milano always does a good job
Really? Because this will be my first fragrance by this house. But I have been looking at all the fragrances (online) and reading about them and I should have had my mom ordered a box of samples as my Christmas present but oh well, we only live once. I REALLY hope I like it. If not… I don’t know what I will do!! So far I feel like this about Memo: they always do a good job.
Tango is a great scent, hope you enjoy it!
Thank You, I sure hope I will enjoy it too:)) I really, really want to try their L’atessa and especially the Russian Tea.
* I can’t wait to test..
Heeley Eau Sacré, because my job is so boring at the moment.
OMG am I feeling the same. Maybe I need some Eau Sacré too.
Maybe I need some of that, my whole life is so boring.
No scent yet today, but I remembered something this morning that I forgot to post yesterday. There was a brief thread about advent calendars last week, and yesterday a friend of mine sent me this cool present for the furball:
https://www.amazon.com/Trader-Joes-Advent-Calendar-Cats/dp/B0812Y81ML
I’m not sure if this exact one is still available at Trader Joe’s, but it seems like they might have a variety of options for those who don’t want to spend a few hundred dollars on the ones we usually lust after.
Those cats are too cute!
Love this lol
So cute. I have been religiously opening my Mariage Freres and Michel Cluizel advent calendars.
Wearing a sample of Chabaud Mysterious Oud, well done but maybe not the right day for it.
Making a foray downtown this to make drop off at the toy drive and maybe pop into a shop or two. As I am running out of candles, I might try Bath and Body Works. Any suggestions about which ones smell the most expensive? I am so-so about their scents overall, but now doesn’t seem the right time to spend big bucks on candles.
Not sure it fits “expensive”, but my daughter got herself the hot cocoa and cream one, and I find it leaves a nice chocolatey scent. I do not usually like any of their candles, I sometimes have to take kids into the store and then sniff them all, and there is almost nothing that appeals to me. But this one smells good when burned.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I’m wearing Eiderantler from January Scent Project today. It just fit the frosty morning when I was choosing.
Does anyone else have a habit of opening new beauty products on New Year’s Day? I always start a new tube of mascara on January 1, but this year I feel like I may need one of everything to make sure 2020 vibes are gone!
No, but that sounds like a fun idea!
Maybe that could be the CP for January 1st – Open something new and use it!
ITA on getting rid of 2020 bad juju!
Just wearing a cheapo bath and body works spray because—it was free lol. The owner didn’t want several of bbw sprays and perfumes. Not a big fan of bbw but for free? Ok:). Lol. Wearing Mad About You..a clean fruity thing. Lol.
So I tried going to the Hermes boutique yesterday and they would not let anyone in without an appointment, sigh. All I wanted to do was sniff Bel Ami Vetiver to see if I still loved it..but alas, covid.
If anyone wants to do a decant trade? I am looking for the BAV and can hook you up with a decant of something in return. If ok with Robin, of course. If not, feel free to delete lol. I can be reached at kalliela11 at the hawt male.
aww!
I don’t have that scent, maybe someone on here can help you out though.
It is ok and good luck.
I don’t own any perfumes with violet in the name although I have tested some, so I think my Friday pick will have violet buried under other notes. It’s damp and cold so I picked Josef Statkus this morning. A perfume friend gave me a little decant a few years back and it looks like there are only two or three wears left. I’ll be sad when it’s gone.
I only exchange gifts with a few people and this year I’ve decided not to get them “stuff.” We all have enough things, and I feel bad that so many people are struggling. I’ve decided to make a charitable donation in their honor to charities in their county. I am thinking Meals on Wheels but still looking.
My little sample of JS is long gone, and I have been sad about it ever since. You smell marvelous.
I thought that Josef Statkus strongly reminded me of the original Kate Walsh Boyfriend.
Testing Clive Christian’s Crab Apple Blossom. I have tested very few, if any, of CC perfumes. This is a ‘swings masculine (I think its the ozone note) lime scent’ to my nose—I totally get the Mojito. Definitely do not need to own although I would enjoy a hair conditioner with this scent 😉
Work is a total slog these days. And my moonlighting writing job just feels like a burden. That’s what I get for taking a days off work. I just want to go for walks and cook stews.
I haven’t tested ANY CC perfumes and your review is not weakening my stance 😀
Walks and stews sounds great. 🙂
Well thank You for the mini review as reading CC’s description of it was less helpful than Yours. I wanted to get my hands on a sample of Crab Apple Blossom but now it isn’t so urgent anymore… thank You!!
Do you like lime in general? If yes, I would recommend Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime.
Honestly, I was intrigued by Crab Apple Blossom because I thought it might be a “grown-up” apple scent (whatever that might be!). I do like lime scents–esp. when the weather heats up!
I’m wearing Imaginary Authors Sundrunk. It’s warming up a little today, after a few days of cold weather. Sundrunk feels so nice today ☀️
Jealous of your warm weather! Cold and grey here. Saw snow flurries but luckily did not last.
Love the hummingbird!
I am in BDK Rouge Smoking layered with Gallagher Vanilla Silk and smell divine!!!
I bet you do! Looking forward to sniffing Vanilla Silk some day. I wonder if he will ever make it again?
I wonder too…I would like to try the rest of the Silk Series too. Would love to meet up in January and share all my recent vanillas with you. Seems like it’s best lie low right now. I have a bunch of Solstice Scents to share and whatever is “new” in the past year or two too. I shall start a list to see what your’e interested in. 🙂
I agree we should try for January, hopefully things will calm down a bit.
What do you think of Gris Charnel vs Rouge Smoking?
Have not tried Gris Charnel yet? Were those your favorites? I also have not had any updates on my Krystal Fragrance order yet…have you?
She had a death in the family and is behind, I am sure you will hear from her soon.
I am very sorry to hear that. She is very sweet and running somewhat a one woman show I think. Thanks for letting me know.
Should be have not tried Gris Charnel yet. End statement. 😉 ehaeheah
SL Bois de Violette today! I used to find it too sweet and powdery, but either my tastes have changed or I have become better at perceiving nuance — probably a little of both. I have a wee bit of a decant left. I’ve never smelled any of its sister scents, but this one is beautiful.
Snowing here, and another day of portfolio conferences and student presentations. The conferences continue to be uplifting, which I really, really need.
Uplifting conferences — how nice!
Chiming in late, my SOTD is Halston Couture, seems to be Tuberose week for me!
Woke up late, coffee and breakfast late, oy, it’s going to be a corker of a day!
I am not doing any better, kids woke up late, so did I, after rushing them off to school I had a toasted bagel and a piece of left over chocolate birthday cake. This is called stress eating
Nope. Chocolate is an antioxidant, I prefer to call it ‘self-care’. 😉
I agree! And dark chocolate is practically health food, lol.
Plus chocolate can have soothing properties when it’s eaten!
That’s a great point!
Now I wish I had some of my father’s chocolate Grand Mariner mousse. He made it with milk and dark chocolate, poured in layers over lady fingers soaked in Grand Mariner. I wish I had his recipe. It was delicious and so comforting. Not low-calorie, I’m afraid…
Chocolate is a vegetable, therefore it counts as healthy eating. Chocolate comes from cacao beans, and beans are a vegetable.
RIght there with you, 50_Roses! I count my addictive Lindt dark chocolate truffles as health food, because hey! 70% cacao. I mean …
I do love those Lindt dark chocolate truffles.
ST and 50, I heart you!
Heart you right back.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Silver Iris
On theme again today! Musky, fruity, iris and violets ?.

In other news, we have our first snow of the season today! It was actually clear blue skies earlier and it quickly became gray.
In more other news, I actually got my Scotch Porter bottle last night – the package is in Mail quarantine, and will be opened later.
In more, more other news, my Boujee Bougies candles are now arriving … drumroll please … today instead of Monday, the 14th! Let’s see if it actually arrives.
My wedding scent. 🙂 You smell great. My package from Luckyscent took 8 days to get from LA to San Diego. Hope your candles arrive! Portia has been talking them up.
I decided to be inspired by you! A DHL package came but it seems too light for 5 candles. Sitting on my hands with that one because it could be 4160Tuesdays, in which case, it would be a miracle…have to quarantine it for a day.
Krystal ships by USPS, so I’m betting it’s the candles.
Or 4160Tuesdays (I was naughty – your fault ?)
Naughty girl! But the UK shipment to the US hasn’t shipped yet, so I still don’t think it’s that.
Another 4160 Tuesdays fan here, who indulged in the Hot Pink Friday sale. Eagerly awaiting the US shipment, aka “Beth Box.”
Oh wow- you smell amazing! I smelled this on another woman herein PDX and she smelled great!
Thank you my dearest. Mine has to be at least 5 years old, maybe older, and it smells as fresh as the day I opened it!
Love Silver Iris! Nice pairing with the table cloth.
Thank you. Most of the backgrounds I use are actually placemats ?
You do smell fantastic!
I’ve gone through a few samples of this one; I am eyeing up a bottle but don’t think I need 100 ml.
Same.
My back up is 100mLs!
Same here!
You smell festive!
Thank you, Mossy Berry!
Mmmm… Silver Iris sounds good!!
It is excellent!
It’s been nice getting packages early rather than delayed, isn’t it?
Absolutely! On the other hand, I had to email 2 companies to find out the status of things I ordered Thanksgiving Week…at least some kind of acknowledgment as to ship date. Both were apologetic and I’m pretty sure I will get them next week.
Whoops! It sounds like they’re going to make things right, though.
Hello all!
1) Am freshly showered and in a combo of Carol’s Daughter Angel Cake body cream and a generous spritzing of Boucheron. Gonna go for a run/walk later on.
2) Was up late last night doing some mutual care at the Red House on Mississippi. It’s a hot mess of a situation. But the shower helped with the frustration i had with some of the protestors, and a the run/walk will clear my head.
Did not know about Red House on Mississippi but now I do. Can’t say a single word about it though!
It’s a hot mess!
I do believe “hot mess” looks about right and does not break the comment policy…
Tom Ford London, decant thunk! This was sent by a kind Nster for my daughter to try, but she said no thanks – however I think it’s quite nice. I thought it might have violets in it, but no.
Off to the post office – when will I ever learn that mailing jeans to Europe is a terrible idea? And how come my father needs/asks for a new pair of jeans every year? 🙂
… because he knows you add love to the package ?
it cost $45 to ship the jeans – that’s a lot of love 🙂 🙂 🙂 Actually, the fun part we did this year that we made a memory game with pictures from a recent family photo shoot. The photos are all pretty similar….he can practice until we see each other in person in the summer, hopefully.
That is fun, and really creative!
I should clarify – paperculture makes it, but I did select the pictures!
Cute! Did you use a flat rate box?
I think that’s not a thing for international. If it is – arghhh! I use our university mailroom because I almost never have to wait and know the staff, but I think their international skills are a bit limited to commercial shipping.
I think the $45 is a good commercial rate price.
I will be heading to the PO tomorrow as well. Be safe! ?
I just have a general thought. Samples are of course, the best, great idea after “sliced bread” 🙂 this way we can test the perfume first before buying but… if I was to order all the sample boxes from every perfume house I read about or hear about… especially the niche & expensive ones… I could go bankrupt too!! In other words same way I have to make a decision: will my next “BiG” purchase will be SS Mandarine Mandarin on Ebay or Winter Palace on luckyscent… the same way I have to decide, which perfume house should I buy samples from first? Some are $45 other sample boxes can cost over $100 too… first of all samples should for some reason be free or just we should get charged the shipping costs… but i understand as well that some people would be asking for more and more samples and never buying a FB if the samples were just unlimited and free
I like it when a house knocks off the price of the sample set if you go forward with a whole bottle purchase.
Oh, yesss I have seen it somewhere too, can’t remember where and what house but I loved it when I read the samples charge would go towards a FB. Lovely deal!! I just wish I could remember what house I have seen was offering it…
Also, unless they are from the actual manufacturer, they are likely to evaporate over time. You cannot build an eternal scent library out of them.
or you can wait until the swapmeet and list your wants …
Very. Very true!! I have already been putting a couple of things aside so I can participate in the next swap meet!!
* I meant say SL Mandarine Mandarin. So many typos 🙂
Rima XI from Carner Barcelona for me today
Nice!
Trying Aftelier’s new Violet Ambrosia and I love it. Quiet but beautiful.
I just tried it, isn’t it just gorgeous?
Going to sleep in Delices des Fleurs, smelling like dainty French pastilles in tiny sugar-powdered tins.
I read too quickly and thought you used dirty instead of dainty ?
Ack! ?
Ha ha! Nope. this one’s totally fresh and innocent… Honestly feels a bit young for me so I don’t wear it that much but its TOO pretty to let go D
I’m wearing Le Dix today from a vintage bottle.
I almost went with that today.
Snow flurries for me this afternoon! They’re finished now, but teeny-tiny little flakes were lazily drifting down for a couple of hours. No accumulation, just wet sidewalks and roads. Time to break out the hot cocoa/chocolate and mini marshmallows! ☕
A Really Annoying Thing that is such a First World Problem: when not one, but two (!!) smoke detectors starting complaining that they have a low battery. And you are on hold during a phone call.
SOTD = back in Grenadille d”Afrique EdP. Something about it bugs me right after spraying, but thankfully that goes away rather quickly.
What’s your weekend forecast looking like? Mine looks terrible. Good thing I bought hot chocolate yesterday ☕
A little warmer, but rainy!
We got a slight bit of accumulation and then it all disappeared!
Best kind of snow, right? Self disappearing!
Argh, and that mangled grammar up there should be “starting to complain”.
Grenadille d’Afrique bugged me too. Now it’s discontinued, so I won’t be trying it again.
I rather like the drydown. But it’s not worth liking only half of a perfume. Glad I got a sample of it and not a blind buy.
Wanted to drop by and comment before it gets too late – been using the CP as an excuse to use up some violet samples. Yesterday I wore the rest of a vial of Violet Fumee, today I’m wearing Splendiris (which should be called SplendViolet but it doesn’t quite roll off the tongue). Both were quite pretty in the 40F temps here. Splendiris seems so cheerful to me.
Have a lovely day!
Waving hello ??
Errpp, I have both of these!
Splendiris is beautiful! You’ve reminded me that I have a sample of Violet Fumee, which I should pull out again this week.
Garnering CP points today with Diane edp. It’s not really my style, but a dutiful all-day wearing gave me a good appreciation for it. Busy week at work with some in-person meetings, and people dropping off papers, well-masked and socially distanced which is good; but our local schools went back to online only. Hopefully that was preventative…
I have bottle of both the EdT and EdP. Been a while since they’ve been spritzed.
Definite CP points today with Aftelier Violet Ambrosia. I’m finding it a bit softer than I expected. This may actually increase my chance of springing for a FB, since if I have to soak myself in it or reapply frequently, it increases my chances of using up the bottle.
This is spurring me to purchase a sample (+ + of course due to shipping)!
I have been truly curious about Baccarat Rouge 540 regular and the extrait. Seems like this is totally the ultimate “it” fragrance. Normally I am happy when my perfume is unique and not worn by everyone else, but I am just so curious about this one. Even my favorite artist wears it!! I have to order either a sample or 5ml or something with it!!
Definitely sample that one. Some people are anosmic to it!
Hmmm… interesting. I already had an idea that Baccarat has to be somewhat sheer and transparent while maintaining its oriental edge… I definitely will sample it first!!
I could not smell it at all, do sample first!
Really, really interesting!! Thanks for the warning guys!!
Got back to work today. Got the all clear to mingle with people and cats. My aunts cat has been forlornly knocking on my door and meowing for the past week. Eau the blue again. Interesting enough, I can smell EA green tea really well, other strong perfumes not so well. On a bad note, I saw my doctor yesterday. I have gained about 10 lbs in 10 months. It’s really not that bad though considering the sheer amounts of food I ate.
I guess my SOTD is what I wore to bed last night, as I never got around to putting on something new, and that one lasted until morning. JD Duality. Love it! Jeffrey Dame has some beautiful fragrances and such reasonable prices.
