Happy Friday and happy National Cookie Day! Our community project for today: do what you like with the National Cookie Day theme, and feel free to link to your favorite recipe.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto, because several people have mentioned it here lately, and because surely there are the makings of a decent cookie in there somewhere. (Dried Cherry and Almond Cookies with Vanilla Icing from Giada De Laurentiis?)
Reminder: on 12/11, wear a perfume with violet, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I bought Black Perfecto for my godparent for her birthday this year, she likes it!
I’m wearing Phaedon Tabac Rouge, I think it’s the closest smelling to a cookie from what I have.
Now, the most cookie smelling perfume I’ve tried is Dries Van Noten by FM, it reminded me of speculoos, traditional Belgian cookie.
❤️ speculoos!
Oh good!
I think a rice and almond cookie could smell a bit like Kenzo Amour, so that’s a I could come up with. We will do online wine tasting this evening, sounds like fun.
Nom. Love Kenzo Amour. You smell delicious!
You smell magically delicious. My favorite of the Amour line is the Le Parfum, in the gold bottle. It is amazing.
I’ve never seen nor heard of this one!
It’s Amour with a tiny dab of Shalimar thrown in. A little darker, definitely deeper.
Wow! Sounds wonderful.
Online wine tasting? What a brilliant idea!! Hope it’s fun!
Enjoy the wine tasting!
Wine! Woot! ?
I hope your online wine tasting involves you actually tasting the wine! I remember reading off some wine events where you’d be watching someone else present/taste/describe the wine…
That’s similar to watching perfume reviewers
We ordered the tasting package with three wines in advance and could test along. It was really fun.
L’Artisan Bois Farine (iris and flour) over Lush Big Banana massage bar (sweet, spicy banana). So kind of like iris-banana cookie, right? (Or uncooked dough according to Robin 😉 )
I’m all in for uncooked cookie dough! That Lush Banana sounds like it would smell great.
Bois Farine is usually all dry and nutty on me, but today I am getting a noticeable wet iris note too, which amplifies the “uncooked” aspect. I am fine with it.
I get straight up peanuts from Bois Farine, Dry. Peanuts.
Yes! I’m going to google that massage bar immediately!
Sadly it is another (discontinued) limited edition. But who knows, maybe Lush will bring it back for Valentine Day?
I didn’t even think of Bois Farine for this project, and I love it! Maybe I’ll wear it tomorrow.
That was a good idea. I’ll do that one sometime this coming week as a “belatedly playing along” bit of participation in the project. lol. I don’t count points anyway, but I like the chance to keep my mind and senses occupied with something pleasant for a little while. 🙂
Perfect!!
Hello all!
I’m in Angel Muse today, which may not be quite cookie-ish but definitely made for those with a sweet tooth. I gave up added sugar this month so I’m living on perfume and fruit.
It’s quite cold this morning for Houston and I forgot how hard it is to get out of bed when it’s cold. Can’t make myself go faster….
Stay safe all! Enjoy your weekend.
I thought of Angel Muse today, too, so I think you get points. ?
Friday hallelujah
Going to get mani pedi this afternoon if all of Los Angeles shuts down tomorrow.
Nothing cookie like comes to mind yet, but a spray or two of Dzing has that caramel circus touch that will work for a chilly morning.
I got a manicure this week, and I am due for a pedicure also
I’m thinking along the same lines – here in the Central Valley, things will shut down pretty soon, and this year I wanted to shop more locally for xmas presents…
My husband is going to the dump in case it shuts down. LOL. I need a haircut but doubt I have time before the lockdown.
I still haven’t had a haircut since March! Lol. I could have but the person who cuts my hair isn’t able to work for health reasons and it turns out I am insanely loyal to him! Also lazy and sort of interested in seeing what happens with longer hair.
I haven’t had a “real” haircut since last December! Son gave me a trim this summer. But I have curly hair that needs layers!
I had one hair cut, in July I think? Who knows when the next one will be. Fortunately it’s just in a long blunt cut, it can go for months like this, although it kind of looks like a bird’s nest because it’s so crinkly.
Bird’s nest could well describe my hair! I don’t like haircuts in the best of times and now when it’s impossible to travel to find my trusted hairdresser it’s been over a year..
My first and only “professional” haircut was in August. I have trimmed my bangs since then and actually need to do that this weekend. I may be able to survive ‘til Feb. speaking of which, I could repurpose the savings from not paying for haircuts ?
Lol!
Exactly!
My thought exactly. The money I’m saving doing my roots at home is almost a bottle of Coromandel
LOL on the dump run. I am debating a Goodwill run… I started the post-retirement clothing cleanout this week. So many clothes! But does anyone want them these days???
Called a zillion places–mostly no one picked up, or when they did were rude, except for one place that said they’d make me a drop off appt, for end of Feb. But my calls paid off! Goodwill in Moraga (!?!) wanted items. I was like a bat outta hell driving out there. Didn’t bother with the furniture–just the kitchenware, lamps, electronics, and tools. Gone baby gone.
I’ve been in that Goodwill I think. I grew up in the Moraga side of Orinda, when much of Moraga was orchards.
Our Goodwill kept boxes at the drop-off even when they were closed – hopefully you can keep on cleaning!
I took sooo many bags of clothes and shoes out when I retired, but that was in 2015. This year I managed to get a few more bags out in between lockdowns. Good luck!
This is where long hair and a messy top knot are key! It’s probably been a year and a half since my last cut.
A massage is what I’d kill for! But not die for. Feel so bad for my therapist. Have no means of contacting him though since I always saw him at a local day spa.
Ooh, I love Dzing. What colors did you choose for your nails?
Woke up in Theorema today with the knowledge that I could take a full shower today because we now have running water. Wearing vintage Jicky edt for work this afternoon. My bedtime scent will be Havana Vanille. I am kind od annoyed with Bath and Body Works. Last year’s Candle Day price was $9.50 and this year it’s $9.95. Someone asked me on Twitter how cheap can I be since it’s only a 45 cent difference. I’m not a millionaire and I work hard for what I do get. Are they trying to justify that it’s a 3 day event this year because of a pandemic?
Yay for running water! That’s certainly cause for celebration.
Sorry about the price hike, but yay for running water!
Good thing I set a hard and fast limit for it.
Yay for running water. Since you have a surplus of candles anyway, just buy one fewer.
I had set a hard and fast limit months ago. I can’t buy more than 5. Got myself down to 16 candles and proud of myself with that part. Would I ever get the limit of 18? Not a chance. We will see what’s in stock when I go tomorrow.
HOORAY for running water!!!! And an increase of $0.45 is a pretty significant percentage increase for that item, so I’d be grumpy, too.
I just don’t get being called cheap. Frugal is a better word.
I agree. Cheap is so rude.
Aldi raised the price of precut salami by 32 cents. I am furious about it, and won’t by it now.
On our way back home! Yay!
Biggest renovation stuff at granny’s place was done. From here my uncle will be of help for her.
Can’t wait to get some sleep on my bed.
Sotd is Hiram Green Arbole.
Enjoy a peaceful sleep in your own bed
You smell nice
Sleeping in your own bed after a week at gran’s is going to be heavenly.
Hope you sleep well on your own proper bed!
You smell great! Have a safe trip home and sweet dreams in your own bed.
House twins!
So sweet of you to help your granny out.
I still miss my grandmother, she died 20 years ago but she was the sweetest.
Yes!
Enjoy being back in your bed and being cosy! And being able to use the TOILET.
You smell great. Enjoy your bed!
I’m in three sprays of CSP Amour de Cacao, the cookiest scent I know: salty cocoa and bakery vanilla — it smells like a tray of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies or a pan of brownies and it is *irresistible*.
Ooh, that sounds yummy. I don’t have a chocolate-y scent, yet, since I’m not a huge lover of sugary scents. Salty chocolate might make it better.
It’s not overwhelmingly sweet, and it really does smell of salty cocoa rather than milk chocolate. And it’s durable: I put it on about six and a half hours ago and it still smells like itself — close to the skin, but there, and recognizable. (Most of the CSP vanillas lose everything except the vanilla within an hour or two. Not this one!)
My bottle is at least 15 years old so I would imagine the formula’s been tinkered with, but you should give it a try at Sephora or wherever: there’s a reason it’s been a CSP mainstay for almost 30 years while so many of their other scents have come and gone. It seems to be universally appealing: I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like it.
Thank you for the mini-review! I will add it to my “to sniff” list, and some day I will go to the mall again and seek it out. Sigh.
I wear this sometimes over SMN’s Muschio which is a kind cognac-butterscotch skin scent. I never thought of the CSP as salty but as having a malty aspect which is perhaps the same thing?
Another good idea! You smelled yummy! 🙂
In Ginger Piccante. I’m a crispy ginger snap.
Later this afternoon I’m attending an interactive Zoom lecture on scents in cinema. They sent us scratch and sniff cards although sadly mine didn’t arrive before the drive to TX. Anyone else going to be there?
Enjoy your sniff session – bummer about the cards, though! Ginger Piccante gets so much love here, I’m sure you smell good!
I was so happy to get a swap decant of it!
ginger SNAP!
Mr L is the baker of sweet things in our household. He does a good vegan chocolate chip and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between that in a non vegan one.
Listening to Tiziano Ferro, my Italian teacher wants me to watch a documentary about him on amazon and then we can discuss next week.
That cookie sounds delicious!
Tiziano Ferro sounds delicious ?
I use chopped vegan dark chocolate in my cookies, but how does he replace the wonderful taste of real butter in the dough?
Wearing Kiss me Tender by Parfums de Nicolai, which almost smells like almond cookies. Patricia is great at Gourmands and KMT is a Joy tot west.
I’ve always wanted to try this one but worried it would be too sweet. Almond cookies sounds good, though!
It’s not a terribly sweet scent to my nose. More bitter almond to me and vanilla.
Bitter almonds is a great description.
I find it very, very sweet, but Patricia de Nicolaï is a genius at creating sweet scents that are still interesting and wearable. The version I’m wearing is no longer available. The current one is called Kiss me Intense and is I think similar, but haven’t smelled them side by side. But try before you buy!
I think Sacre Bleu Intense is like multi-coloured sweets all melting together!
I suppose it is, the original Sacrebleu is. I can’t remember whether I have actually tried the Intense. It’s one of my favourites from Nicolaï.
It’s my only scent from Nicolai and it’s only a 30ml so I am niggardly with it. My best experience was watching a performance of The Nutcracker Suite while wearing it!
That sounds like a wonderful combination. I have a 30 ml Eau de toilette and I think around 50 pls of a much older bottle. Both are gorgeous. Few people can beat her at this kind of fragrance. It’s where her Guerlain heritage shows, imho.
FYI, I was referring to Kiss Me Intense.
Mm. I really neef to try it.
….a joy to wear…. I hate autocorrect ?
I hate autocorrect too, but I kinda liked joy tot west.
Mine is set to Dutch which makers it even funnier
🙂
Wearing Divine Drip body butter (Josie Maran) in honey fig. Fig doesn’t work for me in perfume, but this cream’s scent is subtle and slightly fruity. Will claim I smell of Fig Newton, though it’s not really apt.
May apply Gourmand Coquin when this fades.
I am a fig newton addict. I love LOVE them.
Reminds me of my childhood and I pretend to buy them for my kids…
That is a cookie I’ve been tempted to try to bake for myself–fig rolls. I think they’d be extra amazing freshly baked, but I’m not sure I’m precise enough to end up with a nice cookie and filling instead of a figgy mess mushed in dough.
Hi Marjorie Rose,
I found this recipe, although involved, it looks pretty good!
https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2017/09/homemade-fig-newtons-recipe.html
Those do look good!
Ms Marjorie, I am fully confident that you have the baking chops for this!
Thank you, AnnieA. I make tasty food, but it isn’t always *pretty*. Like, I was thinking I might try decorating Christmas cookies with royal icing this year, except my piping skills are truly terrible. All my gingerbread people will look frumpy and like they’re smirking, I expect.
@Marjorie – I say taste is is the more important goal. My gingerbread people decorated cookies always look rustic because I make icing that tastes good (royal icing looks so pretty but I think it tastes awful).
I LOVE Fig Newtons! Could eat them til they come out of my ears… 🙂
I join you in Fig Newton love.
I eat Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars for breakfast most days. Fig Newtons masquerading as breakfast food 🙂
yes, I get that brand or back to nature brand also.
Also the Paul Newmans brand
Same here – Costco special!
Exactly 🙂
Oh my gosh, we grew up on them too! Powerful memories.
Think how great it would smell if we all got together! (safely…someday)
Whoops – how did that go here – I meant to put it under your reply to my SOTD!
Darn – that body butter doesn’t seem to be on her website anymore. It sounds delicious.
Mmmmm – everyone smells delicious!
I’m in Ava Luxe Madeline with a nearby dash of DSH Coffee Absolute for the win (or at least a point or two). Madeline is a very unique fragrance – a little boozy, a little sweet and a lot spicy. I really only pull it out around the holidays. Here’s her description: “Arabian musk, precious woods, vanilla bourbon and amber perfectly blended with fig, liquorice and milk notes and topped with a warming mix of brandy and spices. The perfect fragrance for a beautiful Christmas.”
? I could follow you around all day!
Think how great it would smell if we all got together! (safely…someday)
I’m surprised I’m the first to mention Dries Van Noten. That’s my SOTD. Yesterday, I was once again doused in Tardes and nearly went for that again today. I’m glad I got the big bottle.
You smell yummy!
Thanks!
I’d be wearing it if I had it with me!
It’s pretty great for this time of year.
Ooh, good choice! You smell fab.
I think I may have mentioned that DvN caused a respiratory issue, bad enough that I avoid it like the plague.
Anyway, I meant to comment that I hope Mr. Spicebomb recovers well; thank God it was only his shoulder!
Thank you! I know, it could have been really bad. We live in an old Portland house, full of wood. He fell down the entire run of stairs, from the top landing. 🙁
Oh my, that’s so so scary
Good morning and Happy FriYAY Y’all!
Wearing Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit, because, well, it’s the only pick I would consider for today’s challenge!
Unfortunately for the Perfume Grinch, it’s 76 degrees in the pharmacy so I’m projecting like a bakery at the moment. I think he’s slightly confused as to wear the cookies are….. 🙂
That’s warm!
Haha – keep him guessing
If he asks you can tell him he must be smelling your pastry breath and watch him slink away …
I’m in Ummagumma, so I’m eating chocolate near an altar, maybe?
Oh, excellent choice.
I’m in LUSH I’m Home, a cacao/vanilla/benzoin frag that smells like freshly baked snickerdoodle cookies. CP maxed out.
Mr. Teebear hates this one, however, so it’s probably for the best that it’s discontinued and I only have a decant ? I’ll have to give him a wide berth til I leave the house for work; if I’m wearing it I normally spray and dash right out the door.
Yesterday’s lavender biscotti turned out divine, for anyone that wants a recipe for some lightly floral cookies that travel well:
https://livinghomegrown.com/lavender-biscot/
Happy Friday!
snickerdoodles are delicious! 😀
thank you for the lavender biscotti recipe, I love lavender!
ooooooh! So happy to have this recipe! I have some lavender that I’ve been looking to use in things other than London Fog….
Thanks for posting the recipe link!
Luca Turin says MFK Oud Satin Mood smells like a cookie. Well, I’m in the extrait, and on me, it’s only cookie-adjacent at most. I smell great, though, and I just ate a chocolate chip cookie.
I was going to spritz that one today, but changed my mind…..maybe tomorrow. You smell great.
I really love that one! Never thought of it as being cookie-like. I’ll have to pay attention the next time I wear it.
I remember liking the Satin the most and it attracting far less praise… guess I know why now – my sweet tooth!
I know I’ve smelled some of the MFK Ouds, and I don’t recall any of them being cookie like. But it’s been a while…
B&BW Christmas Cookie lotion under Coquillete Paris Cookiecrunch edp. Doesn’t get any more cookie-r than that! Happy Friday!
Oh. Well done!
Thanks! Now adding some Anima Dulcis for a bit of spice vanilla cookie. 🙂
I salute you. That’s cookie-riffic!
It was the perfect combo for this CP. 🙂
Brilliant! I bet you smelled yummy, too! 🙂 I’m getting hungry as I read through all these cookie or cookie-like scents and the descriptions of which cookies they smell like. 🙂
Happy Friday!
Gallagher Vanilla Silk.
Happy (Vanilla) Friday She-ra!
Hi all – my SOTD is L’ Artisan Vanilia (the original) layered with Patchouli Patch.
Feeling out of sorts, hopefully the fog will lift at some point. 🙂
Happy Friday everyone!
Do you mean the fog in San Francisco? 😉
I wish! It finally turned sunny out, and SmokeyToes is sleeping in the sun. 🙂
A life-long friend passed away yesterday. He was beloved by many, a professional chef who was known for his kindness, generosity of spirit, humanity, and a fantastic sense of humor. I am very close with the family, and many of their family pictures have me in them – I’m sort of an adopted daughter, his middle sister and I are best buds.
It’s been difficult. Something many of us are going through.
I feel like the wind is knocked right out of me.
My condolences to you, it is definitely a blow to the gut feeling.
I’m sorry to hear that, ST. It’s so hard to lose someone.
My sympathies, SmokeyToes. Losing someone who has been a part of your life for so long is incredibly painful and disorienting.
Thank you. I’ve been a red hot mess since I found out.
And difficult because if I were in Sarasota, I’d be at the house right now helping the family. I’m a helper by nature, feeling helpless is not fun.
So sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry SmokeyToes.
I like cookies, but i prefer to eat them, not smell like them.
My SOTD is Moon Bloom!
Such an amazing white flowers scent. But its not big, no drama diva-stuff here.
Its very beautiful and uplifiting with a slightly tropical vibe. Perfect to brighten these grey rainy days.
I had a good day. Met a friend for coffee this morninv. we had take away coffee and talked and drank while sitting on a bench outside…
(bars and restaurants are only allowed to be open for takeaway here in The Netherlands)
I did a quick work out at home… really need to work on my core.
And this afternoon i had the house for myself yaay
(my husband also works from home, him being away is kinda scarce right now)
So i listened to some Mozart, read a few chapters in book (Hare with amber eyes) and I am now watching a movie (Wild Rose, its about a Glaswegian woman who wants to be a country singer)
It’s nice to have the place to yourself every now and then, isn’t it.
Yup ?
Yup. It’s funny, we have so much more space in our new house, but even still, I’m so happy when I get the house truly to myself from time to time!
You smell so good.. moon bloom is delightful. It works for me a bit better in the heat for some reason but it’s really nice in winter too when you are craving flowers and nice weather. Being from the Netherlands you could visit the shop itself!
Thank you.
I know he lives in Gouda but i did not know he had a shop one can visit….
Ah no, you are right! I don’t know why I had assumed he had a physical shop.
There is a perfume shop (perfume lounge) carrying HG and other unusual brands like Francesca Bianchi, Grossmith or Dusita in Amsterdam though. Writing it down for me as I had been planning a trip! You would probably know it..
Yes, its the ‘Perfume Lounge’!
Lovely staff and and yes they carry some beautiful brands.
Hiram Green does great florals! You smell wonderful. I need to schedule a friend meetup, sooooo sick of being in the house with my husband. We are both home all the time, it is tough.
Yes I love his take on orange blossom as well (Dilettante)
Lustre i only tried once and it was very nice. i need to find my sample and give it more wearings.
I loooove Dilettante. Not wild about the sharp citric opening of Lustre but the drydown is very good.
I liked Lustre a lot, in fact I have a bottle in the way! I think I know what you mean about the opening cazaubon, find it quite sharp and a tiny bit ‘pickled’ but on me this lasted a couple of minutes only and then its gentle olibanum + green rose.
Another Dilettante lover!
Nothing screaming cookie at me today, but I do smell like tea to go with the cookie in Dear Polly.
You all have such great choices! My SOTD is Diptyque Benjoin Boheme, the scent that taught me that I could like vanilla in a fragrance.
Yesterday I completed my one and only scheduled event for the month (I love being retired!) — took the cat to the vet for his annual checkup and shots. I think I deserve an award for that because he hates, hates, hates car trips. He howls the whole way there and the whole way back, poor thing. He’s fine though (“boring, really” said the vet).
yay for boring! =^..^=
I had one kitty that howled through every car ride, the other one would hide her face in the corner of her carrier. Guess who I felt sorrier for? 😀
Awwww poor hiding kitty! I used to have a cat who thought she couldn’t be seen if her face was hidden (we kept her indoors of course). At the vet, I could get her to hold still for any procedure if I covered her face with my hands.
The vet said ‘boring’? That’s hysterical! 😀
Yes 🙂 Sarcastic vet 🙂
“Boring”… haha. That sounds like House in vet form. I’m glad your kitty was well. I dread taking mine to the vet should they find something and from how very upset she gets. The moment she sees the carrier she disappears like a ghost.
I’ve been wanting to try Benjoin Boheme for a while! Maybe what you like about it is the benzoin, which is quite vanillic but not the same. I like some vanillas but adore benzoin. I have to go to the Dyptique London store (if it’s still standing after the lockdown) and see if I can try it.
What I like about Benjoin Boheme is that it’s vanilla but not foody, if that makes any sense. I’m not a gourmand lover.
I think I’d take your howling cat over my vomiting dog… as long as the ride was short. 😉
Well… I didn’t mention it, but yeah, howling AND barfing AND… yeesh, what a production number he makes of a car trip.
Both my kitties complain non-stop in the cat carrier on the way to the vet and the way back. I sometimes wonder how they don’t lose their voices!
Yay for kitty checkups! We’ve got one who meows piteously now and fights going in the carrier… My condolences!
I smell like a spice mix you might put into a cookie in Eau des Baux.
Your new bottle? I’ve worn my a few times the last week or so since mine has arrived. Really great for this cold weather!
Eau des Baux is wonderfully spicy. 🙂 Do you get any smoke with yours?
Definitely smell like a cookie– supermarket cookie with loads of vanilla icing– in L’Aromarine’s 1936 Special Vanilla, a cheap thrill for vanilla lovers in the food/gourmand camp.
A lovely cheap thrill! I like to wear mine to bed.
Ooh, another inspiring idea. lol. I may go have an early breakfast of cookies.
Showered in Molton Brown Muddled Plum, followed by the body lotion. Spritzed on Kyse Mandorlo Cioccolatta to add bits of chocolate. This mah not be a known cookie, but plum chocolate sounds good….
Having an early dinner at Joe Allen tonight. They’re closing down again for awhile, so we wanted one last dinner at this Broadway mainstay.
Oh, I wish I could join you at Joe Allen…..many happy dinners and late night drinks there…..
It’s such a special place. We are going back tomorrow night because who knows when they’ll reopen. I figure we aren’t doing Messiah this year at a Carnegie Hall, so….
I had a gorgeous Manhattan. Unfortunately, no eating at the bar, which is so great there.
I don’t have a link to a favorite cookie recipe, but I highly recommend the chocolate wafers from Miette bakery in San Francisco. Loads of butter and very dark chocolate make them flakey and delicious and not too sweet.
Lot of good smells here. Going for the CP points with Pierre Guillaume Felanilla 21. I am sitting in my library, eating freshly baked brown edge wafers. It’s a cool Spring day and a neighbor is mowing grass for the first time of the year. The cat will wander in in a while to sit with me. I am sure I will be baking cookies this weekend after reading everyone’s choices…hmmm….which ones….?
so many cookies, so little time! 🙂
Oh, yes, so many cookies: especially this time of year. BTW, my comment is a little goofy. I should have specified that it meant how I felt about PG Felinilla! But hopefully, NST’ers understood my impressionistic thought @_@.
Well, I’m in Nanadebary Bronze for the CP. I smell more like cinnamon rolls than cookies, to be honest, but since I could NOT get the top off of the adorable mini of Jeux de Peau this morning (grr), Bronze was the next closest thing to cookies in my arsenal. Next week’s CP will be much easier for me. 🙂 Happy Friday!
Smelling like a cinnamon roll is a good thing, in my opinion. 😀
Wearing a lovely Fendi from a sample with a smudge label: is it Fan? Gets a bit powdery at the end, which can read a dessert to me…
There is, or rather was, a Fendi perfume called Fan di Fendi.
Wearing Sweetly Known by Kerosene. Darker than Unknown Pleasures, but I am in love with the burnt sugar dry down in this one. Not really a cookie to me, more like the topping of a creme brulee. without the creme.
Nice choice! I get burnt sugar, almost smoky at times.
Okay I am feeling either
SL’s 5 O’CLOCK GINGEMBRE or Heeley’s Zeste de Gingembre.
Which ginger-y scent did you pick?
I chose SL’s 5 o’clock de Gingembre., and I immediately noticed a similar opening to De Profundis!
Oh this is REEEALLLY lovely, I had heard of it years back when it was at the height of it’s popularity.
I could go FB on this. I see the reasons for it’s fame.
Either way, you smelled lovely and ginger-y. 😀
Thanks neyronrose. I am enjoying the discovery of ginger as a note.
Friday!
1) Clear blue skies and sunshine- but quite chilly!
2) Am in Joy (Jean Patou) and after my midmorning spin will freshen up with Fresh Cream. It’s a great combo! Not cookie like at all, the day called for deep rosy/jasmin-y loveliness!
3) Need to brave the stores for fresh pine boughs. Usually street corners around here would be selling trees and trimmings but I have not seen the usual characters around the hood, so off to Fred Meyers and Trader Joe’s I go.
Joy is a perfect jasmine. You smell wonderful.
At TJ’s yesterday I picked up a pine bough “candle ring” but I hung it on my door. It’s a nice little wreath.
Oh yes- so lovely! Thank you!
And that is my idea for decor!
I’m wearing Jeux de Peau. Loved it the first second I sniffed it from a luckyscent sample, and actually bought a bottle at Scent Bar the one time I visited. Why don’t I wear this more often?
CP related: I just ate way too many mini peppermint meringues from Trader Joe’s. But dang, they were yummy!
You smell great! That’s a really nice one. I love it as an evening scent.
Jeux de Peau is a fantastic name.
ha! I saw those peppermint meringues at TJ’s, but didn’t buy them because I figured I would eat them until I was stuffed. :p
Diptyque Tam Dao, for the Cedar Wardrobe Vibe. Cozy and warm while i sit in my work pjs wfh.
I made cookies earlier this week. I love an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie with pecans. I add extra course ground salt to the recipe for kicks.
We always freeze our homemade cookies, and eat them right out of the freezer. Actually we eat all our chocolate frozen. It’s my thing and my husband picked it up from me.
Robin, can’t find the link for my recipe, so typed out here. If that isn’t okay please remove! Thanks!
Recipe: Oven at 350, bake 10-12 min.
1/2 c butter, 1/2 c brown sugar, 1/2 c white sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp milk, 1 egg, 1 c flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 1/4 c oats, desired amount of both choc chips & chopped pecans
Cream butter & sugar, add remaining liquids and egg. Combine dry separately. Mix dry into wet. Add chocolate and pecans. Optional additional coarse ground salt.
A little sprinkle of coarse ground salt is SO NICE on top of cookies!
Late reply but of course it is ok!
oatmeal + chocolate chip is one of my favorites. 🙂 So delicious, and perfect right out of the freezer. I also freeze slices of pie.
I keep my cookies and pie in the freezer too. 🙂
My hubby was telling me that as kids, his brother and sister (plus him) found their Mom’s hiding place for cookies (in the separate giant freezer downstairs). When she went for the cookies to serve for company, the tins were mostly raided; I bet they were with the 3 kids eating them. She made the best shortbread with fancy green and red cherries cut into little flower shapes.
I love the smell of baking, but not so much on me, so there is nothing in the house that brings cookies immediately to mind. I’ll go for a walk later and check out the testers at Mecca Cosmetica, so I might be wearing Dries Van Noten around lunchtime 🙂
DVN is a perfect cookie scent. 🙂
Did you end up in DvN, or did something else win out?
Lattedoro makes me think of gently spiced cookies
I’m generally not into, sweet scents. I am wearing Our Assemblege which has a praline note at the basis of a rose oud.
same for me, I don’t often like scents that smell like sugar. 😉
SotD = Vanille Galante
Vanilla is part of most cookie recipes, yes? I’d like some vanilla-laced sugar cookies, preferably tender and almost-soft, but thin and crisp is delicous, too. Sprinkled with sanding sugar, but no icing, please
Later today I’ll channel my inner spice cookie with Ambre Narguile. I love gingerbread in all forms – loaves, cakes, bars, and cookies. Really should bake some this weekend, it’s been too long.
Another to do for the weekend? Music!

Fun times. 😀 Happy FriYAY, everybody.
Joining you in vanilla spice, added some Anima Dulcis to my cookie combo. 🙂
And another person making me hungry. lol! You smelled delicious! 😀
Chris Rusak Beast Mode today with fennel, black licorice and black pepper on an amber base. A savory gourmand rather than a sweet one…..
Ooooh that sounds divine!
Enjoying National Cookie Day and My Birthday in the spicy scent of Chergui. I don’t bake so I am taking some frozen cookie dough (homemade by my sister) from the freezer for treats tonight. Oatmeal with walnuts, yum. Hope everyone enjoys the day!
Happy happy birthday!
Chergui is a perfect birthday scent! Best wishes!
A very happy birthday wish for you, jepster! And I agree that Chergui is a wonderful birthday scent!
Happy birthday ?!
Happy Birthday + Happy National Cookie Day! Sweet!
Sending you birthday wishes!
Happy birthday! I hope you have a happy year ahead.
Many happy returns.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday! ??
Happy birthday!
Happy Scented Birthday jepster! ????
Wishing you a happy birthday, jepster!??
Happy belated birthday!
Was in Rochas Alchimie earlier today. I’m not as great a fan as others…
This evening I’m in Chabaud’s Lait de Biscuit which I really find incredibly soothing.
I think I’m going to do this CP for the rest of the month 😀 😀 😀
You have an amazing gourmand repertoire ? this is clearly a CP made for you!
My taste in music and art MIGHT be more sophisticated but when it comes to smell – after years of experimenting – it seems I’m mostly drawn to the simple stuff!
Wearing a bunch of gourmand perfumes at Christmas time makes perfect sense to me!
Oh, Lait de Biscuit sounds nice. 😀 I’ve been wearing soothing fragrances whenever I can lately.
In Bois d’Armenie- Benzoin balmy thing mixed with frankincense. Most ‘Bois’ perfumes knock me down over my ‘heavy aroma chemical’ radar but this is a true love.
And eating chestnuts with milk after work and being a Friday couch potato.. I wonder if there is a realistic chestnut nutty perfume out there… ?
L’Artisan Noir Exquise comes to mind.
I second this chestnut scent.
Thank you! Looking at notes and reviews I’m really wanting to try it. A marrón glacé perfume..
I can’t comment as I’m not too sure what chestnuts smell like but I do think some kind of aroma chemical became popular and is supposed to suggest chestnuts or chestnut cream in perfumery.
They smell slightly sweet and nutty to me when cooked..I don’t think I’ve explored this aroma in any perfume but I hope I may like it, as with ethyl maltol and other synthetics. My plight is with certain ones that are made of large molecules, very potent ‘amplify’ and create aura and bulk in a perfume like timbersilks etc. Don’t get along with those.
Cloon Keen Atelier “Castaña”?
I didn’t know this one either, thanks! The vetiver seems prominent so may not be for me.
TM Angel Muse EdP is supposed to have a chestnut cream note in it.
Yes it’s certainly very nutty. I got mostly cocoa I think from my memory- need to re-smell it!
You didn’t smell like a cookie, but you smelled lovely. 🙂 I recently tried Bois d’Armenie and liked it quite a lot.
I was going to wear Jeux de Peau but when I looked in my SL bottles the first one I found was Arabie and I thought “Oh yeah!” I sprayed lavishly. We have a very pretty brisk clear day here–one of our first real sweater days so far, and this scent is so gorgeous in cooler weather! It has kept a smile on my face all day. Cloves, benzoin, figs, dates, orange…. It’s more of a bar cookie than a discrete round one, and I wish I had some here with me to eat right now! I visited a native plants store and it was so beautiful in our nice weather to see all their “winter” plants: cyclamen, pansies, poinsettias, plus Christmas trees, etc. They have a fun shop there too and I bought myself a little candle and got gifts for a friend.
That sounds like a fantastic day. Enjoy sweater weather!
Very neat all the way around, from the fragrance to the store you visited. 🙂
My hardy cyclamens (“ivy-leaved” type) bloomed in the fall. They’ve got flowers about the size of violets, but the shape of the flower is a miniature version of a florist’s cyclamen. Very cute, though I have to be wearing my reading glasses to appreciate the details of the flowers. lol!
Stopping by real quick to share my cookie SOTD, which is Thank the Dark Lord by Sixteen92. It was part of their Halloween 2019 collection based around the Netflix Sabrina the Teenage Witch series. Notes are spiced caramel toffees, soft wool scarf, witch’s herbs, cardamom latte, a tray of warm cookies. Yum. I don’t wear super sweet perfumes often but this is nice. The cardamom and spices help balance the sweetness.
I love the super scary name and the comforting notes 😀 Sounds wonderful!
Cookies are my favorite food group and I love gourmand fragrances, so I’m really enjoying today’s cp! I’m wearing my favorite Cookie Combo: a base of all things BBW Vanilla Bean Noel, topped with L’Occitane’s original Vanille edt, probably from the late 1990’s, when their boutique first opened in a nearby shopping center. L’Occitane lists many notes for this scent, but the main effect is an absolutely delicious and long-lasting caramelly vanilla, my very favorite of all the vanillas I’ve tried. Layered over the VBN, it is the fragrance combo that has gotten me the most compliments out of any other scent I’ve worn. I just opened my last back-up bottle of the edt but I also have several bottles of the tiny perfume extrait in Vanille and also in the Ambre (another one I love.) I remember I paid $10 for the extrait and I’ve seen them on evil-bay for $200! I should sell them and take myself on a nice vacation but no, I love them too much and enjoy wearing them too much to ever do that.
Unlike much of the country, we’ve had an incredibly sunny and mild November that has extended itself into December and is predicted to last at least another week; it’s certainly a mood-brightener during this long-lasting ‘pause’ in normalcy. With the sun smiling on me, I’m slowly decorating my home for the holidays with many items handmade from friends and family who are no longer on this earth but I can sense their presence in the beautiful gifts they have left me, and I feel peace. And that is what I wish for all of you this weekend – peace!
I haven’t smelled L’Occitaine’s Vanille but I do have and adore their Ambre!
Enjoy the decorating – it sounds like both a profound and magical process for you!
Yes, the Ambre is beautiful. I’ve only ever had the tiny extrait in this scent, but only a drop is needed. And, yes, there’s something almost profound and magical in unwrapping something and immersing oneself in the flood of warm memories that arise – it’s almost a visceral reaction for me.
Thank you for that reminder of our connections to our past at this time of year. I hope you get to keep enjoying lovely weather. You must smell incredible – I’m glad you have such a large supply of scents you love.
The Vanille edt is one of the very few fragrances I purchased a backup of. It’s a large bottle so it should last a long time, plus I have the extrait, and only a drop is needed. Definitely one of my top 5 cold-weather scents!
It’s good you got a BUB – l’occitane is terrible with discontinuing
Waiting somewhat patiently for a couple of package deliveries today. The mail seems a little slower than usual this week. I wonder if the Christmas Crush has already started? ??
Super yucky and gloomy weather today to add to the package suspense. It’s been raining off and on most of the daylight hours. I bet the cats will run straight to the heat vents once the evening program for the thermostat kicks on.
SOTD = Parfumerie Generale Musc Maori 04 EdP, from the sample stash. Thunk! I smell like chocolate chip cookie dough today. ?
You are the sample queen, and inspire me to try and make more of a dent in mine.
At least half of my samples are thanks to the wonderful folks here at NST. It feels nice to make a bit of a dent in my Sample Stash.
It might be time to give a couple of my perfume bottles some love and attention, though.
I’m also anxiously awaiting packages!
Both my packages arrived soon after posting here. I hope yours show up quickly.
Yummmm. A package came today!
A perfumed package?
April Aromatics ?
That’s a lovely scent, you smell great! I tried it at LuckyScent Bar in January while sampling chocolatey scents and finally opted for Akro Dark instead – more fool me, Mr. Teebear had a hard time with that one, so I’ve since traded it away.
I’ve completely crashed and burned WRT the CP this week. I had 90 minutes of PT this morning, so no perfume until after that (which made the 2.25-hour-long faculty meeting that *preceded* PT especially dreary!), and then 31 rue Cambon just kind of jumped into my hand. I am still wearing workout clothes but oh, do I smell good. It is just so beautiful.
I will probably bake cookies tomorrow, and will think of all the yummy fragrances NSTers have worn this week.
You smell great in 31RC
Thank you!
Berdoues Vanille Cacao, a cheap thrill from a few years back, it has darkened considerably, no doubt the vanilla, but the cupcakey scent is intact.
Mmmm, sounds good !
I’ve never heard of that Berdoues.
This morning I wore Arianna Grande Ari, for the cp. It doesn’t smell like a cookie but does smell sweet. Now I’m wearing Le Lion for work tonight. It’s the busiest it’s been all week. It’s going to be a long weekend..
I had to go to Target today, ugh. Glad that’s over. Hope your weekend is not too bad.
It’s starting to die down now. Time to start the clean up.
How are you liking Le Lion? I’ve noticed it’s on the Chanel site now but it’s a bit of a pricy blind buy!
Pssst, but so worth it, but I am biased ?
I love it! It has qualities of Shalimar and 31 Rue Cambon imo. It’s feels very lush and more modern than the 2 I mentioned.
You smell wonderful. Hang in there tonight!
Thanks!
You smell fabulicious! Hang in there, lillyjo!
I am! I love it when we are posting at the same time ?
Le Lion will give you strength to hang on! Rawr!
Loukhoum for me for the almond, vanilla, and honey which are all surely in the occasional cookie. 🙂 It’s the best I could come up with haha.
Happy Friday, friends!
Almond? Vanilla? Honey!? Sounds like a cookie to me!
You are smelling great Kelly; very cookie appropriate!
You smell good!
Almond + vanilla + honey could be the start of a batch of baklava, which is a treat in my book!
Almond horns!!!!
You smelled yummy. 🙂 Loukhoum was a good idea. Adding you to the “people whose descriptions of cookie smells/sweet scents are making me hungry” list. It’s a long list at this point. lol!
Late to the party!
SOTD = Kilian Angels’ Share
? … from my bottle! I received it on Monday, after serendipitously seeing it on the Kilian website after it had been out of stock for a few weeks. Overall, it is light-ish with pretty much equal parts sweet, spicy, boozy, minty and nutty vanilla. And bottle porn. And, with the CP!

For National Cookie(s) Day: ??
https://www.instagram.com/p/CIZV3a0hqk9/?igshid=1n92iucx1y6sp
Yummmm ?
What’s better than perfume and cookies? Nothing!
You are ?❗️
That bottle is something else, for sure!
It is! Some people were complaining that the top is plastic (it is) and I say then don’t buy it.
Pity – in the pictures it looks like the whole thing should be chunky crystal 😀
Then it probably would be too heavy. That said, I think it’s genius that it LOOKS like it’s all crystal!
Ooooo gorgeous!
Didn’t real make the CP cookie theme. Weirdly, I was really into gourmands and orientals when I was a teenager and young adult, now they are nearly absent from my collection. I am wearing Heretic Parfum Scandalwood. The brand seems to based on “ natural” fragrance and Scandalwood is the only synthetic – and thus far the only one I like. I really enjoy the rose and sandalwood.
I think their Amberbee smelled like syrup from canned fruit but I had some Vaninight on a testing strip and some weeks later it did still smell very nice.
The only good cookies are Subway peanut cookies. Which they discontinued, so I’m still mad about cookies. I cAn smell fairly good today, but I put on one puff of jardin sur nil. Why? Why is this thing a thing? It’s sour, with that fake ISO e super cedar thing that feels like a railroad spike to the brain area. I also found out that Dunkin’ Donuts discontinued the only good donut. The toasted coconut. I’m pretty mad about donuts too. Sure, it’s a great idea to smell like tomato leaves, sour tamarindo juice, and ipecac.
I think if you don’t get along with iso E perfumes, you just don’t. It’s a matter of how your sense of smell is wired I guess? Others love it.. I don’t get that collection either, probably for that reason.
I am fortunate not to know how ipecac smells! Sur Le Nil does not smell good on my skin but I do think Sur le Toit is a good fruity floral and Apres la Mousson acts as a very good air-conditioner in a hot car. I think I’m anosmic to iso E so…
ISO is in high concentrated of every perfume I cannot abide. I don’t know if this Hermès one has it, but read Jean Ellena used lots of it. I don’t think it’s the note per se, just the overdose of it. I love the snell of light blue for instance, but I can’t stand it. Terre Hermès? I’d rather be in an enclosed room with Tabu. Santal 33? Just let me snell the used cat litter, it’s less caustic.
Today was Montale Chocolate Greedy followed by Fete Persanes.
Finally getting into The Crown—about 4 years late to the party! Needed something to watch after finishing The Queen’s Gambit and The Undoing.
You smelled yummy! 🙂
Mom and I have been watching the “First Ladies” documentaries on CNN. She got teary towards the end of the Kennedy episode, because she remembered the events from when she was a teen.
We were very impressed by all of the interesting facts about Eleanor Roosevelt in her episode. We noted down several books we want to read for more information. As for me, I’m currently a little way into reading Eleanor and Hick. 🙂
We like TV programs about royalty, too. 🙂 I’ll keep that in mind.
A day late with my account…
Friday early morning I dug out my vanilla essential oil, already combined with jojoba oil in the little bottle and ready to wear. lol. Not only did my hands smell yummy, but they were softened and moisturized, too. 🙂 I added Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond Oil lotion on top.
Early this morning, I put on some drops of the vanilla essential oil in jojoba again, and added some cocoa butter lotion. I’m not sure if I smell like any particular cookie, but my hands certainly smell delicious. 😀
I’ll be borrowing several of the ideas you creative people had for this project over the next few weeks. 🙂 A lot of those fragrances are soothing ones for me. Also I have Demeter Gingerbread and Fresh Ginger samples to keep me entertained. 🙂
