Sad news about Alex Trebek, I loved Jeopardy and the friendly competition in our family answering questions. It was a good run, but I’m glad he’s no longer suffering. Pancreatic cancer is a tough one.

I was sad to hear that Alex Trebek had passed away. Like so many families, mine would yell out answers (well, questions, technically) when we heard the clues. He’ll be greatly missed.
My dad and I used to do that back in the day, yelling out the answers to Jeopardy. Then he would solve all the puzzles on Wheel of Fortune.

Last Thursday i developed a stuffy nose, some sneezing and a mild cough. So friday morning i decided to plan a covid test. Got tested on friday early in the afternoon. And results already on saturday morning! Negative. Phew.

Its just that i read that quite a lot of covid cases are ‘just that’: a cough, or mild cold.
And I am a ‘better safe than sorry’ person. ? Especially when it comes to health issues.
Also, ive been in contact with a couple that turned out to have been in contact with someone who tested positive.
And even though one half of the couple already got tested and was negative and the other half had no symptoms at all … It felt better for me to check, even with very mild symptoms.

How is that one?
I wasn’t blown away today. All aldehydes (of which I’m a fan) and powder with a touch of rose. Nice, and a really cheap thrill ($38 for 50ml), today I just thought, “Did I really need a full bottle of this in my collection?” But definitely worthy of a try.

In Gallivant Amsterdam. Not digging – I think it’s not even going to merit a retry.
Confession to our lady Donatella: I have ordered a small bottle of Gallivant‘s Bukhara. And a backup bottle of Coco EDP. And a bottle of Coco edt based on Aurora‘s description. And very small bottle of Chanel nr 5 extrait. (in my defense, i had a 20% off code from the reatiler). And I did all of this in one weekend. I am no going on a no buy for the rest of November (and perhaps December too…).
I need to start thinking about getting more Coco. I might go for the edt this time. Also, where did you get twenty percent off Chanel?

A happy Monday morning to all! I’ve got a cat on my lap and Rrose Selavy on my skin, so the week is off to a good start. This despite the fact that it’s <40F (in CA! What! A week after temps in the 80s?!) and the heartbreaking news of Alex Trebek's passing
I'm amazed that he survived for 1.5 y after a stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis, and I will miss him dearly. He has been a fixture of my life…forever, as far back as I can remember. I hope his family takes comfort in knowing how widely loved he is.
Wow, did not know he lived a year and a half after his diagnosis. That is lucky.

I seriously don’t want to go back to work today. Bath and Body Works has a single wick candle sale today and I bought 2. I don’t want to use up my Winter, Fresh Balsam or Evergreen before Candle Day. I think that Phi Une Rose de Kandahar will fit the bill today.

I’m going to try and do a week of Chanel. First up is Allure edp, matching with my Frosted Peach shower gel. The other day I read a comment ( not here) that said Chanel perfumes are boring and overrated. I totally disagree. Every time I wear Allure, I am reminded how good it really is. I am wearing jeans and a hoodie, with my hair in pigtail braids, but I smell and feel sophisticated and lovely. Hey madtowngirl.. Looks like two more days of great weather.. Enjoy it!

I am going to do this CP all week, since I have three concentrations of No. 5, a flanker and at least one scent inspired by it.
SOTD is Chanel No. 5 EDP. While EDP is not my favorite concentration of this fragrance, I fell in love with No. 5 in this version. So I guess this is my gateway No. 5.

Deliberating whether I need more Lost Cherry or not. Decisions, decisions. I tried it side by side with Rahat Loukhoum, Louve and Wild Cherry. It is different, I think due to the tonka base. But $$$$. Wearing it again today to make a final decision.

After inadvertently smelling like Safran Troublant last week while decanting for splits, I’m now in it officially for the first time – aldehydes will have to wait a bit! We test drove Thanksgiving, sort of, this past Saturday by bundling up and having dinner (Raclette) outside with one of our Thanksgiving families. It’s doable as long as we won’t have rain…Happy Monday!

I love the testing … we did that first with my sister’s birthday for my nephew’s birthday. Now we’re not so sure about Thanksgiving due to what we think is going to be newly imposed restrictions.
My daughter actually keeps asking why we don’t all actually get tested and then keep ourselves quarantined until results are back in. I think she has a point. Rain is our big issue.

Is there a big difference between eau verte and the edp?
To me, yes. I love the way Cristalle edp and edt smell on others, but I cannot wear it. There is a note that I just can’t take when I am wearing it. I really enjoy wearing Eau Verte though.
I only managed to find Cristalle at some airports a few years back. Definitely Eau Verte smelled more appealing to my newbie nose. I liked the edt C more than the edp but it lasted about 5 minutes on my skin! I can’t report on the difference though as it’s been too long since I smelled Cristalle.
Cristalle Eau Verte was one of my first perfumes when I became seriously fascinated with scent – really lovely and refreshing. It was some years before I got to smell Cristalle, but I still prefer the Eau Verte version.

2) Awoke to sunshine on my face, and just did a starter workout on my spin bike, using the Les Mills app. Wowzers- the soreness! But it does wake you up in the morning and I feel really focused.

Wearing K de Krizia,the not-so-distant Italian cousin to Mademoiselle Chanel.Fizzy aldehydes and that familiar combination of rose,jasmine and whatever else makes a good symphonic floral!
Love the perfume,LOATHE the bottle and the totally useless leaky sprayerhead!Whenever you spritz,streams of perfume run down the front of the bottle,and the space where your trigger finger push is barely big enough to push down to spray.Same with the Krizia Uomo bottle,it just frustrates me and that’s why I don’t wear it that often.

Recently I tried and liked TF’s Beau de Jours. Any opinions on it? The closest I have to that barbershop feel is probably SMN’s Melograno. Fortunately it’s refreshing in the heat – but also sometimes compared to Chanel no. 5!
(This evening though I have swapped out to SMN’s Vetiver)
I only tried it once, and it was way too barbershoppy for me.

I agree with you about the news and weather. I have one weather lady here, that constantly uses the phrase ” roads will become treacherous ” every winter and when it’s not even called for. I stopped watching her and switched to a more positive attitude weather person.
We actually started getting those siren alerts on our phones on the hour. Midnight. One am, etc. Telling people not to drive. You can’t even escape it in your sleep. Then breathlessly reporting we never had this much rain before. We have.

Crazy warm day here….was running late for a Zoom meeting this morning, so I combed my hair, wrapped a large silk scarf around my nightshirt-ed shoulders, and spritzed some vintage Cristalle (Chanel all week). Got away with it, too!! Now I am dressed and still smell great. Cristalle and No. 19 have been in my life since my teens–love them.

We had warm weather at 82 today. I wore a pink t-shirt with pretty jewelry and felt the need for a more “femme” scent. Opened my cabinet and the first bottle I saw was HdP 1873 Colette. Perfect! Doing some online Zoom meetings to prepare for a big virtual conference later this week. Also preparing a paper and presentation for it. So, sorry for recent absences, but I feel invigorated by having something to do.
I made a big break from my brother, for complicated but I believe valid reasons, and have been feeling sad and abandoned. I must deal with him due to Mom’s situation but am otherwise choosing to withdraw.
