Indeed it is another Monday. PSA: the splitmeet is coming up this weekend. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm having an indecisive morning — too many choices — I will report my fragrance later in the day.
Reminder: on 10/23, wear a floriental, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Nice to see my beloved Central Park making a photo appearance on NST.
SOTD Le Galion L’Ame Perdue
making toast and sipping French press coffee
Morning L2SG – you smell marvelous!
Good Morning!
More Central Park to come this week 🙂
Yay!
I loved getting all the picnic pictures from my friends in NY of Central Park this past summer!??
Excellent! Central Park is such a gorgeous location to photograph.
Whatcha having on your toast today?
no judgment

YUM!
Morning all! My SOTD is Laura Mercier’s Minuit Enchanté, thankfully it’s cooler in SF, all of us at the house are breathing a sigh of relief.
Enjoying a French press and a slice of my smoked salmon breakfast bake, recipe below. It’s light and flavorful.
https://draxe.com/recipes/breakfast-salmon-egg-bake/?fbclid=IwAR3AObb1VluzalZ28wsiJ2lPJKn1ru5i8ThJSM86COQ6K-oVjHn5nnYFMJc
French Press coffee twins!
Recipe looks good…
It’s delicious and healthy. The hubby has the ability to eat all sorts of bacon and cholesterol-laden foods. With all of my digestive issues, I can’t eat like that. Breakfast is where we usually compromise so I won’t drown in grease!
If you don’t have Kefir, sour cream or Greek yogurt is a great substitute. And it makes the recipe. I’ve tried with and without Kefir, it’s better with, both texture-wise and taste.
Oooh, I’ve been looking for a good egg bake recipe.
Oooh thanks for the recipe!
Certainly! Happy to share. 😀
I added extra mushrooms, dill, and asparagus. It was quite tasty.
If you can find it, Marin Cheese Company makes a goat’s milk and sheep’s milk feta that is really delicious.
I make a roasted feta drizzled olive oil with honey and roasted dates that’s an excellent appetizer and relatively lower fat than a traditional dip.
Sounds great! Thanks for the link!
If the group listings on Fragrantica for “oriental floral” are the same as “floriental”, then I can do a whole week of the CP. First up is Calligraphy, which is a favorite of mine.
Yes, same thing.
Hi Priscilla E – where can I find that on fragrantica?
I’ll help Priscilla out.
Here ya go…
https://www.fragrantica.com/groups/oriental+floral.html
Thank you!! ❤️
I’m checking it out too. Thanks!
Sunny and Superhot afternoon over here.
Thunked Paco today,sorry Lillyjo,it’s no more…haha.
Chilled chocolate milk for most of today!
Happy Monday!
✌??
I think is very cute you are drinking chocolate milk <3
Haha.Always and forever my thing.Happy Monday!?
Jealous, jealous, jealous of your superhot! (And of the chocolate milk.)
It’s about time the African summer sun made its return!
Happy Monday!?
Please, send me all your hot weather, asap!!!! ?
I love you M,but NO!This summer is a keeper!!Haha!
Happy Monday to you my friend!
??
????
Oh no! Was it a bottle thunk? If so, how long did it take to use up?
Yup,100mls…well,I received it as a gift around….2010-2012??Lol…
I did enjoy every last ml.
XO
Chocolate milk is honestly so delicious!
It’s honestly the best thing to cool me down when it gets really hot!
It must have been the first thing my dairyfarmer dad fed me…lol.
XO
Thunk cousins, maybe?
It’s coldish out and I’m in a smidgen of Il Profumo Ambre d’Or, which smells a whole lot like Maître Parfumier et Gantier Ambre Precieux, the first niche scent I ever owned, and which I sort of wish I still had a bottle of, even though I must have a half dozen serious ambers including Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan. I guess you never forget your first love.
ANYway. Ambre d’Or is everything you need in a cold-weather scent, warm and cosseting and kind of sweet but not sugary, cut with a few branches of herbs to keep the whole thing under control. There is a vague suggestion of flowers but it isn’t floriental, not by a long shot.
I got my MPG from eBay!
Lovers of Shalimar flankers rejoice! I shall be wearing my discontinued Shalimar L’Initial and the newly packaged and rebooted L’Initial with nary a mention of Shalimar anywhere. But today is a chore day so Adam Levine it is, also classified as a floriental, if you have an hour to peruse the gargantuan list at Fragrantica!
Adam Levine is a good one! One of the celebrity gems out there….
I plowed through that list too! It took me a couple of days, but I did it. You smell great today! ??
That’s my plan for the week (but I got distracted right away).
I really should have bought Intial when it was available the first time. I found it at Winners for a good price, too, and left it behind.
I love Adam Levine! The perfume, not the man. Although I do enjoy looking at the man ha!
Ditto.??
I love Adam Levine for Women! A true bargain beauty. By Yann Vasnier, no less.
Adam Levine is a nice, snuggly perfume for cool weather.
Wishing everyone a calm week ahead.
I’m revisiting a perfume from a +5 years old sample of Laboratorio Olfattivo Daimiris. I liked it back then and I still like it today. Its name tells you traightforward what to expect – a sueded iris. Powdery and creamy goodness. It slightly reminds me of Guerlain Iris Ganache but not as rich & chocolatey.
That sounds so beautiful. I’ll have to try it, lol!
Central Park, my gorgeous backyard 😉
Speaking of parts I’m heading out shortly for a power walk to shake off those Monday blues.
SOTD: Black Cashmere
I’d say that’s a gorgeous backyard!
It’s a whole lot better looking than mine.
Good morning Y’all….Monday already? Well, let’s do it…
Felt like going for the warm and cozy vibe in Burberry for Women (the 1995 version). I don’t wear this one often enough! It’s a warm hug on a cool fall morning….
Orris Noir, from the swapmeet. Had a fun weekend but too busy & social and now feeling very meh about Monday. Onward!
Feeling meh twins.
Ah, make us triplets then.
Meh quadruplets.
Busy Monday, freezing in my classroom.
Amouage Portrayal Woman. Yum.
“Freezing in my classroom” is just not good.
Well, there are no kids here for a few more weeks, so at least I’m freezing alone. We’ve been told the frigid temps means that the air exchange is working properly, so we should be happy it’s so cold!
I am wrapped in a fleece blanket. Very professional.
Ah. Ok. Still. It would be nice to have proper air exchange *and* heat.
Sounds like you need a Snuggie!
Ooooooof. If you’re freezing in your classroom now, I shudder to think of what winter is going to be like. ?
L’Oeillet Sauvage for the CP. Such a lovely carnation for a crisp fall day
Nice.
I love Oeillet Sauvage. It’s a shame carnation scents seem to have fallen out of favor.
Two weeks until my next and final vacation of the year and I can’t wait for it to come. Woke up in Lyric and now switched over to LADDM. Bath and Body Works dropped some of their winter offerings and I am proud of myself. I didn’t bite when they had the BOGO candle sale.
Good for you for NOT buying another candle! How many to go before your stash is done and dusted?
I have about 25. I am waiting for when Bath and Body Works has their massive candle. I am running really thin of the Evergreen and Winter candles. I have tons of Heirloom and Honeycrisp Apple candles but they make my mother nauseous.
Aww okay, that’s too bad about the Apple candles!I’ve never smelled one myself!
Two weeks will go fast.
But not fast enough.
I’m in JHaG Musc Invisible. I got my sample last week and tried it and loved it, until….the drydown. At the end of the day I could smell that common note I find in many perfumes that is harsh on my skin. Giving it another try and seeing what today is like. It starts out a very pretty, soft floral/slightly sweet musk skin scent. No skank here (not that there’s anything wrong with that 🙂
Was too busy at work to post this weekend, so I missed the viewing poll. Will post today instead. A day late and a dollar short I guess.
Movies:
A Beatiful Day in the Neighborhood- just watched this last week and it was really good. Different than I thought it would be. Fred Rogers was an amazing human and Tom Hanks played him perfectly.
Emma- the new version with Bill Nighy. I would watch him in anything. Fun movie
James Bond- just finished binge watching all the Daniel Craig movies and looking forward to streaming the new one when it comes out.
50 First Dates- rewatched this with our teenager who is finally old enough to start watching movies beyond PG. Yay!
Rushmore- also a rewatch with the teenager. Bill Murray. Wes Anderson. Need I say more?
She’s Having a Baby- rewatched this for the umpteenth time by myself. It is one of my favorite movies and definitely my favorite from John Hughes. So many good lines. Classic late 80’s with an excellent soundtrack (that I have on vinyl!). Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern are perfect.
TV:
Masterpiece Van der Valk- a little “gritty” but very good.
Masterpiece Flesh and Blood-not as good as above but still good enough to watch. I am a Masterpiece junkie. If there is a support group, sign me up, lol.
PBS The Trouble with Maggie Cole- just started watching this last night. Seems like it will be a pretty good watch, but the scenery is pure eye candy! The village where it was shot is so picturesque it looks fake! I want to live there.
last but not least, and I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but we’ve been watching House on prime when we can’t find anything else to watch. Hugh Laurie’s character is really despicable at times (well, most times) but it’s like a car crash. We can’t look away.
Another Bill Nighy fan here. Have you seen The Bookshop?
Yes! I loved him in that movie!
Flesh and Blood twins. Sunday night is high drama around here– that show followed by Fargo.
If the JHaG is getting on your nerves, recommend switching to Eau Premiere?
Good idea.?
Thanks for the Musc review. Looks like I will pass.
It might work for you though. It is really pretty, I’m just not sure if I can take the drydown.
I know that drydown. It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard. I just don’t understand why go to the trouble of creating a new perfume, if they all dry down the same?
Ah, had not heard of The Trouble with Maggie Cole — added to watch list, thanks!
Flesh and Blood is hooking me in more each episode.I won’t even venture a guess about who the victim is or whodunnit. There are so many dysfunctional characters it definitely keeps you guessing!
There is some note in almost all JHaG scents that does not agree with me. I wish I could pin down what it is. I can’t find a common denominator. Whenever I have a suspect, I can find other things in my collection that I love, with the same note. I’m thinking it might have something to do with the amount used…
I am wearing Bvlgari Splendida Magnolia and drinking my second cup of Himalayan Black tea.
I think I’m on my 4th cup of tea? Earl Grey at the moment.
Green tea chai for me. Trying to drink healthier choices than coffee! I actually really like the green tea chai, it smells lovely.
I do love chai 🙂
I have a very busy work week coming up and am trying to feel excitement vs. dread.?
I think KellyC mentioned Sober October which I wasn’t aware of but I am doing Sober Oct 17th – Nov 2nd and Sober Nov 4th – 17th…reserving the right to a drink, if need be, on Election Day. ?
Sampling Captured By Candlelight by 4160 Tuesdays and Bee by Zoologist…which is I think the first time I’ve tried Zoologist…so behind the times…
Looking forward to the Splitmeet and wondering what people will be splitting please. Hajusuuri gave a tentative preview in yesterday’s thread for those interested too. 🙂
I think that I will be needing a drink or 2 on Election Day as well because it can’t come fast enough!
Ditto
I will likely add Iris Torrefie at ~ 20% off, up to 30mLs, for those who did not make it for Omega’s split a few months back.
I am in for Iris Torrefie!
Woo hoo!
Me too!
And to you too, a big woohoo!
Glad I can inspire haha! I actually didn’t start until the 3rd so I’m taking mine on up until Nov 2nd. And yes, all bets are off on Tuesday the 3rd. 😉 I will admit struggling a bit at first but I’m doing much better now- although I did tell my hubs he couldn’t drink a margarita in front of me at the Mexican place the other night haha.
Also, how do you like Bee?
In Profumum Roma Rosae Mundi on this cool and cloudy day.
Having my second cup of iced coffee and a plain toast with avocado. Ready to run some errands during my lunch time.
Happy Monday, everyone! ?
Happy Monday!????
I’ve got sun today, will try and send it your way. High of 48 though!
Thank you, accepting gladly all your sun! We will be in the upper 60’s for the rest of the week. Hope your temps go up at least some! ???
Keep warm!
I’ll make a deal with you- you send me some of your cool temps and I’ll send some of my hot temps and we will even things out LOL!
I would pay extra postage to send you some cold! Plus some samples, of course ?
I am holding off on turning on the heat and I may be right as we’re in for a 75 degree heat wave on Wednesday!
I am using space heaters now, but I am so happy that we will have a “heat wave” the next couple of days.
I didn’t have a chance to comment earlier about it, but I was happy to hear that your Saturday was a very good one.
Thank you Jalapeno! We had a nice family time!
Wearing Jubilation 25 this morning, the grandest of all my perfumes. I’m dressed like a 1970s college student for a nice contrast.
I was a 1970’s college student, so I think you look very groovy. ?
Hey man, cool!
Just 25 is a nice one but don’t wear it often.
I love your contrast. 🙂
Gorgeous!
Well, I had every intention of wearing Eau Claire des Merveilles this morning for the cp, but the hand went for the Belle en Rykiel sample. It’s been hanging out on my dresser since the swapmeet. I like this, it’s different, but it’s not a love.
Tomorrow I’ll be driving about an hour to meet my daughter for a socially distanced outdoor lunch. She’s in Austin for a few days to see her fiancé, so I’m thrilled to get some time with her. I haven’t seen her since I went to California almost two years ago. It’s been way too long! ❤️❤️
Wow that is a long time! Have a super great visit!
Have fun with your daughter! We’re doing a socially distanced birthday dinner at my sister’s place for my nephew’s birthday this Saturday.
Long, long time. Enjoy your time with her! ?
That’s a really long time. Enjoy your visit
Hope your time with your daughter is wonderful 🙂
That’s wonderful!
Have a good visit!??
Yay!!!! So happy you get to see her!
Such a long time! Have a wonderful visit!
Safe travels and enjoy your visit!
Oh that is too long! Enjoy your precious visit.
I was in Eau Première all of today but have now changed to AG Encens Flamboyant, I was craving incense.
Smelling great ALL day.
Thank you Kelly, I love to work from home and changing perfume.
You smelled marvelous all day!
Thank you, I love both perfumes.
Encens Flamboyant is SO good! Did you ever try the shower gel? I see it on occasion and wonder if it is worthwhile.
The shower gel is wonderful! I’m so sad I only tried it as it was becoming hard to find and expensive.
No I haven’t tried it.
Monday!
Am in a combo of Amelie Mae and the last of the Organic Pharmacy Rose/Jasmine oil. Power walk scent- very uplifting!
Despite telling myself no more body care stuff, I bought Parley Seed serum- god, I love that stuff on my face and neck! I got a free Rose By Any Other Name body wash, which is VERY nice.
Ok, I am officially curious — what is wonderful about that Aesop serum? I have never used any of their skincare.
SOTD = Teo Cabanel Barkhane, an incensey scent with oud, from a decant I keep in my desk for those days when I roll out of bed late and have to rush to get on the road to my office at the hospital. Oud was my rotation scent of the day, so I am right on track. 🙂 I obtained a full bottle of this, but my husband really didn’t respond to it, and it seemed to wear on me after a while, so I let it go. Once my decant is gone, I don’t think I will miss it much, there are other Morroccan style incense fragrances I like more…but it is serving it’s purpose today, since it is cold as the dickens in my office, and this is warming…
Barkhane was my favourite of the Teo Cabanel’s…though I didn’t love it enough to purchase. Is there a particular note which is too persistent? Or does it not somehow just not meld well as a background scent to whatever you are doing? Sometimes I love the scent of a fragrance but it just doesn’t work!
I don’t know what the chemical is. I had the same feeling, except more so, with Amber Aurea, remember that? It smelled fine to me initially but after a while I had the sensation of it just wearing on and on. Barkhane does that to me as well, some chemical just doesn’t change and after a few hours my nose just wants a break! So I wear it very occasionally, but there are many scents I like better, that don’t press on me.
I haven’t tried Amber Aurea but I can definitely relate to your experience in general!
Wearing YSL LIbre Intense. It’s a lot like Mon Guerlain but with a double dose of lavender and lasts 3 days.
I spent the weekend away, in a small place in the centre of the south island that is a heritage dark sky reserve and I had amazing views of Mars , orion etc. I actually stayed in the youth hostel. I think the last time I was in a youth hostel was in Salerno in the 80s, when I was a youth. The hostel is new and on the lakefront, so the best view in the village and the communal kitchen and lounge was incredible …not very many overseas visitors at the moment. Funny that people don’t seem to talk to each other in these places; they were all on phones, in their own worlds. I was given a private room ( cause I was old!) , with a TV so I coukd watch the exciting election resukts as they came in. It all seemed great and a million mikes away from the bunkbed/pillowcase version except that the heater was on a 10 minute timer and all through the night I got colder and colder…finally got up at 5am. Massive frost outside. But stars!!! Quiet!!! Beautiful.
Anyway, off to the graveyard. All the hawthorn is flowering, the big hedges and huge old trees..beautiful scent when you stand under the trees.still cold here.
Sounds like the discomfort was worth it – nothing like a properly dark sky brimming with stars to make Anything worthwhile! ?
Oh, I’m so envious, this all sounds wonderful! Especially the part about the election being over and so reasonably concluded. May the US have the same. But what a great experience to stay in a dark sky area. There’s a state park some hours south of here that is a “dark sky” area and maybe some day I can persuade my husband to go visit. His parents used to live in rural New Hampshire, and the stars at night were magnificent, especially in the winter.
Being in a dark sky preserve is an amazing experience.
L’Air De Rien, not much of a floriental, but one of my most worn scents. My Monday was mildly busy, so it was over quick. I even managed a walk with the boyfriend at dusk.
You smell so cosy, I adore it too.
You smell wonderful. I know I’ve said before, but L’air de Rien is one of my top perfumes. Maybe a top 3 even!
Le Lion just because. Gosh I love this one!
me too! me too!
I keep forgetting I have a sample of it that I haven’t tried yet. Crazy, right? Maybe this week it will finally happen. It was an extra in a swap with the generous Undina.
Try itttt! So good! Let me know what you think when you do try it.
Ok, I really like it. Very smooth and like Shalimar with iris and leather. It feels like a mix of things I’ve smelled before. I’ll have to go through my collection to see if I can find what I have that’s similar.
I’m jealous, I would love to try it.
You, of course, smell fabulous!
Rowr! ?
Currently infatuated with SMN’s Muschio Oro. Like several others scents Iv swing around on, I hated it on first smell several years ago, but having become more intrigued with Musk over the years I found myself liking it on my last attempt. And…it was on sale so it had to come home with me.
Just in time for the current heat wave. Iv survived previous summers with citrus, green tea and Vetiver fragrances but can now add a ‘soapy’ Musk to my arsenal. Something I find strange is that some describe it as having animal notes, but others as being an aggressive soap-and-aldehyde scent. Perhaps it’s the way Khiel’s Musk reads as dirty to some and squeaky clean to others. Trying to wrap my head around the enigma!
Guessing because some people can’t smell some of the musks?
I could be walking round in this heatwave, with all the confidence of a freshly-washed-and-pressed Madame and actually smell like a cat in heat 😀 (Very lucky I’m at home so much these days…)
So true! This is my fear after learning that you can be anosmic to different musks. And one of the best things about WFH is being able to spray with abandon.
Remind me what WFH is? I’m pretty careful with certain scents and reserve them for at-home use!
Work from home!
Eau de Gaga. The box calls it The Masterpiece!!! But it’s just boring and nice enough. I like it, and the price was super cheap.
It was indeed a decent scent at a decent price.
I never see these anymore at departments stores in my area and now I wish I HAD sniffed the Gagas! I even sometimes wish I had one of those Purrr scents because those cats sort of define an era for me!
This one is just a green tea/lime/sort of leather scent. It was 17 bucks on Fragrancenet for 2.5 oz. nothing exciting, but solid and easy to wear. It was supposed to be violet too, but I can’t smell it. So I had to get a small bottle of voile de Violette to scratch the itch. Oh well I was out.
‘Easy to wear’ is an underrated quality of a scent (I think). I have some beautiful fragrances but they don’t get wear time because they are too distracting, or just don’t work as general background and so they don’t get taken out often. Ultimately then, they are not all worth having. Green tea and lime sounds lovely and very usable. How is the VdV?
The VDV is a non sweet violet with Vetiver. Strong and long lasting. I would call unisex, but not on a cologny way like the Gaga stuffs. One thing about the GAga, if you put Elizabeth Arden green tea on top, it becomes the dominant scent and actually lasted overnight. I feel like a scientist right now.
I’ve been missing out on commenting this past week or so, but I’ve kept up on reading SOTD posts. So many good, nostalgic choices last week. And I look forward to some florientals this week, but today I’m in the chocolate patchouli goodness of Smell Bent Hungry Hungry Hippies. I’ve got about 1-2 wears left in the mini spray I’ve had for about 10 years. This is strong stuff so you don’t need much. Last week some of my CP perfumes that I didn’t get around to talking about were Boucheron Trouble, Datura Noir (the first SL I tried!), Une Fleur de Cassie, and Bois Farine (received in one of the first swaps I did on MUA in 2008).
Last month I mentioned here that I’d been nominated by a couple of my coworkers for an employee of the year award. Well, last Thursday I won the award! I admit to having a good feeling about it, but it was still shocking and emotional to me to win, especially when there were 13 other nominees. As is the same for many others, this year, especially the last 7 months, has been incredibly challenging to work through. My work didn’t slow down in the pandemic. In fact, I worked on a very time-consuming project that just ended (went live) the week before last. Anyway, I’ve been kind of riding the high of winning that award for the last few days, but now it’s Monday. And it feels just like every other Monday. ?
Congrats on winning the award!
Congratulations! ????
Congrats!
Congrats on the award!!
Monday does seem to be able to suck the joy out of everyone…Lol.
XO
That is fantastic! With a lot of competition, too, makes it all the more impressive!
Wonderful! Congratulations! ?
Adding my congratulations! It’s nice to be recognized for all your hard work.
Congratulations! So happy you were recognized!
Yay, how lovely!
Congratulations!
Congratulations, that’s amazing! And I’m sure well-deserved, with so many other nominees. Seriously, none of us get enough positive feedback in our work lives most of the time, so I’m delighted that you did. Maybe treat yourself to a special fragrance to celebrate! Just sayin’.
Heh I’ve already been treating myself to perfumes a lot this year. I have been trying to think of something special to treat myself with, but I haven’t landed on anything yet. I do have a week of vacation comimg up soon!
Excellent news! Congratulations! ????
Thanks for your support!
Congratulations! ?
Hallelujah! I finally was able to talk to a live human being today re: my dreadful mail a few weeks ago. Looks like I have alot of paperwork to do, to hopefully resolve this issue. I hope by year’s end.
My 85 year old aunt stopped by today and told me an interesting story about her first job. Apparently she played records at the old downtown hotel. The records were piped into the elevator. I had no idea that’s where elevator music had originally come from!
Sotd is Keiko Merchari A Fleur de Peau. A good fall leather.
What a great first job. It’s lovely to have a relative who stops by. My aunt is far away across the channel, I lost two aunts in the last decade. I had the opportunity to acquire for cheap some Keiko Mecheri a while back, but what I had tested was not special enough so I passed, maybe I should have tried A Fleur de Peau.
This and Cuir Cordoba are my favorite. I’ve tried a few other’s but didn’t find them memorable.
I’m glad you finally got to talk to a person! And that the end of the dreadful mail issue may be in sight.
I also had no clue about how the music got into elevators in the old days. Sounds like a fun first job to have had.
Omg, I was getting so frustrated leaving message after message. Today, I basically pleaded to speak to any available person.
Glad to hear your problem is getting attention from a human, finally!XO
Finally! And funny part, she started out saying something about the computer running slow… and I said it’s ok, I will wait as long as you don’t put me on hold or tranfer me to voice mail!
Aww I love that story about your aunt.
She’s really special to me.
Hooray, light at the end of the tunnel! And that’s so nice of your aunt to stop by and to tell you about elevator music!
Plus she brought muffins!?
Hey, your Monday wasn’t so bad after all! ??
Productive and sun so not too shabby, I say.
Today I’m wearing 4160 Tuesdays Rhubarb & Custard. I am the volunteer photographer for my son’s football team and the senior moms took up a collection, conspired with my husband and bought me three bottles from my perfume wishlist. The centerpiece is the big bottle of Ormonde Jayne Woman- I have almost used up my travel spray so very excited about that. The other two are the small bottles of Rhubarb & Custard (I was obsessed with rhubarb as a child) and Nicolaï Angelys Pear. I’m kind of stunned by their generosity, and also my husband who steered them away from a gift card and into perfume. Since I have been on a no-buy all year – total bonus. Not that I needed a drop more perfume but….. happy Monday, everyone!
Wow, very nice surprise! Enjoy your perfume gifts. I’d like to get my nose on that Rhubarb & Custard sometime. Maybe in my next sample order.
Are you in the US? I would be happy to share a sample. My email is in my gravatar.
I sure am! That’s very kind of you. Will email you later. ?
What a fabulous gesture!Enjoy your new goodies!
Enjoy those beauties!
Wonderful and thoughtful gifts! Enjoy!
So awesome of your husband and the moms as well!
Very amazing!
That is so great! Enjoy!
Perfumed gifts are the best!
Oh wow, how lovely!! My football-playing son graduated in May and I miss the other moms. His best friend’s mother was the team mother and did SO MUCH for the kids. My role was to bake the “lucky” Bundt cakes for the weekly team dinners. I even found a Bundt pan shaped like a football stadium, lol. Some of us moms of last year’s seniors got together a few weeks ago for dinner outside and it was so great to see them. I’m just so happy that your hard work and devotion were recognized in such a beautiful and special way. Good job, hubby!
How thoughtful! That’s a win on so many levels.
I’m inspired by this week’s project because I think this is perhaps my favorite perfume category. I could do it all week! Starting out today with some of my prized Boucheron Initial, the edp. It’s very old but still smells fantastic. A unique spicy combination of honey, jasmine, and rose, plus it says red currant leaf and wildflowers…. I don’t know how those components would smell on their own but the blending is superb and smooth. I wish I had more, but just have a little tiny bottle with that lovely teardrop shape and pearlized coating on it. Now my life would be perfectly fine if only the guy with the leaf-blower across the street would STOP already! It’s been going on for over four hours! I’m ready to strangle someone.
The notes description sounds great. As to the 4 hour leaf blower guy, does he have a giant yard, doesn’t know how to use a leaf blower and/or deliberately out to annoy the neighbors?
ARGH on the leaf blower torment!
No scent this morning because I had a doctor’s appointment but now I’m home and wearing Roberto Cavalli Oro. This was a “get to know you” appointment because my previous doctor quit to work in public health. Good for her! Bad sleep last night but I’m trying not to take a nap so I can get a good night’s rest tonight. I’m having a bok choy and mushroom stir fry for dinner with a brownie for dessert.
I like your dinner and dessert!
Beautiful photo today Robin! The maple trees in my neighborhood have been slowly turning a magnificent red this year. I’d say that they are at around 30 or 40 percent right now. ??
Ugh Monday. Everyone here overslept, even the cats.
SOTD = ELdO’s Fat Electrician, from a sample I finally thunked today! Now maybe my little bottle will get some use. ?
Thunkanator jalapeno! ?
The trees here are just turning so maybe 15-20%. That said, I’ve seen one tree that was planted with ifs leaves already red. It’s scrawny and is not looking particularly good as it will be denuded soon.
I’ve noticed that smaller trees do tend to “color up” faster that the bigger ones.
I think it’s cute the kitties overslept. ?
The huge maple out my office window is at 100% 🙂
We had rain all weekend so it was nice to have a break from it today. SOTD is SL Vitriol d’oeillet; time for the heavier scents!
You smell marvelous! But, I love Vd’O anytime just saying ?
Oh thank you, MossyBerry!
I really like Vitriol d’Oeillet, I got a bottle for my husband. Carnation notes are a favorite of mine but I think they’re mostly out of favor these days.
Fall is a great time to break out the carnation perfumes.
I had a sample. You smell great.
Just got back to our room, and I will say the photo of Central Park is similar to what we were around today. Just stunning colors. A bit of a shock, though, to be in 30 degree F temps….
I think I fit CP in Oeillet Bengale. I only brought that and Shalimar EDC.
Eeek, late to the party!
SOTD = Maison Lancôme Santal Kardamon
So nice and the bottle is bottleporn! Woody, spicy, boozy vanilla. FYI, I am splitting this at an approximately 20% off. I got the bottle in September.

I will be participating in the CP for the rest of the week as floriental is a huge category. Thanks to nancyleandros for posting the link!
Wow, that bottle is MAD styling!
Speaking of bottle porn.. Atelier is running a twenty percent off sale. As I was checking it out, I saw a limited edition Santal Carmin. It’s beautiful!
Just sayin… LOL ?
Scent of Monday: Hermes’ L’Ambre des Merveilles. I’ll wear a true floriental later this week! We’re in house renovation hell here, though I’m glad we’re finally tackling some long overdue projects. I have holes in two ceilings, plastic trap everywhere, furniture all akilter. Wish me luck!
Tarp, not trap!
Yikes. Home renovations are stressful during the best of times. ???
Renovations are no fun. Hope it doesn’t get too stressful. At least you smell nice.
Well! That was interesting. I just read through the Fragrantica floriental list and have made so many discoveries:
1. I have hardly anything in this category. Just 8 FBs.
2. I consider 8 FBs “hardly anything”. ?
3. Fascinating: some extensive lines appear to be entirely based on this category! Others have one or none.
4. SIP has a perfume called “The Rose With The Broken Neck”. So dark!
5. There is a Star Wars perfume. Should I really be surprised, though? And yet, I am.
6. There is a Smurfs perfume.
7. Good golly, why isn’t there a Sheera perfume?
Very late to read and post. Started the day in Dryad. (Conclusion: lovely, but feels redundant with all the other greenies I’ve got. My pocketbook is happy.) Will throw on a floriental before bed, though.
The Rose With The Broken Neck should win an award on name alone!
