That was fast — it's Monday again. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am commando. I was sick yesterday (and did get a Covid-19 test in the afternoon), and am taking it easy today even though I feel much better.
Reminder: 8/21 will be Captured Unicorn Friday. Wear a perfume that you thought would be impossible to get, but you managed it. If you have not yet captured a unicorn, wear anything you like and tell us about the unicorn you'd like to catch. Suggested by Undina.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

ciao a tutti (hello all)
SOTD my always and forever unicorn, Shalimar
Hola! I’m smelling the remnants of the Shalimar I wore to bed last night ?
my unicorn would be the parfum (spray) in a sort of a gold flat case that I bought off of evil Bay. Over on the BdJ blog, she does a video on classics and I have the same bottle of Shalimar as her if you want to see what I mean. And the other is Ode a La Vanille.
Hello and welcome back! How was your vacation?
Ciao!
I read A LOT!
Writer & Lovers & Euphoria by Lily King (both so so good)
Interpreter of Maladies Lahiri
Exciting Times by Dolan
I loved Euphoria.
Dear Apsara-
I couldn’t put it down. I liked it the best out of that list…
My Shalimar sister!
Robin, take it easy and feel better soon! Hope your test is negative.
I’m in Tam Dao, which is not a unicorn, but my bottle kind of is. It’s the LE 30 ml with the orange tint. I think this may be the only daily lemming that I jumped on.
Yesterday was a perfect day. Great weather, I finished my paper, got a pedi, AND my son showed up for a surprise visit so we got to spend a rare dinner as an entire family.☺️
I was planning on taking my girls to ikea today, but luckily I checked the website first and the desk madtownteen wants for her newly restyled room is out of stock. It would have been just my luck to make the 90 mile drive to find it not there.
Oh, I am hoping it’s positive…felt like crap yesterday, but still, I would consider it mild, and then I would know I have decent immunity for the next few months!
You smell great, and jealous of your color bottle.
Feel better Robin.
I hope you have the outcome you desire with the test
Oh! Ok then, fingers crossed for immunity!?
Thanks! This bottle really is so cute. Wish they’d offer Eau Duelle in a colored LE too, I’d snap one up in a minute!
Hope you feel better soon, Robin! My husband and I were both sick with bad coughs in March, we keep wondering if we had covid. It would be so nice to know you’re past it, wouldn’t it?
Yes!! For a time, anyway. I think they’re saying about 3 months immunity, probably.
I think I had it in April but never got tested. Hoping Robin gets a good result and a speedy healing.
It’s funny, I was thinking – “maybe one would want the test to be positive?” – hard to say!! Hope you feel better, Robin.
Thanks! Bit tired this afternoon but huge improvement from yesterday 🙂
Oh, Robin I hope you feel better soon; I think I understand what you mean about hoping you have got it. I think have felt the same. Glad you are feeling better <3
Yay for having the whole family home!
I know! Made me so happy.?
I have six iterations of Shalimar and love them all. The unicorn I’d like to find is Tom Ford Sahara Noir or Slumberhouse Pear and Olive, and Balenciaga Cristobal (remember in the early 2000s when Cristobal was all over the discounters?) Today I’m going to wear Shalimar edt, modern version.
hey twin
Sahara noir, yes. Would love to find.
I’m forever on the lookout for Sahara Noir. Who has them all?!
which iterations do you have? I have a small decant of what I think is the current edp, and a vintage parfum de toilette which is much easier to wear because the opening is so much softer but more the scent is overall more fleeting. I’m debating the vintage Edc (in the round bottle, there seem to be many around on ebay but I don’t really like non-spray bottles), and/or also the completely different, newish Shalimar cologne. So I’m always curious to hear what others have and love!
Shalimar edc is what I wear the most, my bottle is about 17 years old. It’s the most lemony vanilla with gentler base notes, I wear it to bed a lot. I also like the edt, I have 2 from the 60s/70s and one that’s about 10 years old. The older ones have very satisfying growly bases. I have edp from the 90s which is smooth and round smelling, wish I had more of that one. And I have a small bottle of extrait that I bought from eBay many years ago that smells divine.
Thanks for sharing your descriptions!
Smelling great today.
Today I’m in Au The Noir, which I pulled to wear weeks ago. It’s been languishing in the box of to-be-worn fragrances, and today I finally felt like wearing it.
I need a better rotation system like that, too many of my scents get ignored for months.
One of my favorite “start of summer work scents” – get it done, smell good while doing it! You smell great, obviously.
I am glad you are feeling better, Robin.
I am going to attempt a week of unicorns. Today I am wearing Shiseido Inoui. A very green floral with a bit a chypre backbone. The top notes are a bit bruised, but after about ten minutes it is wonderful.
I need to think how many unicorns I have. I could probably come up with 4 to do the rest of the week…
Looking forward to hearing about them! Tell All 🙂 I might have one to share too!
That sounds lovely!
Robin, take it easy! I hope you recover soon, Covid or not.
Wearing the last drops of my decant of Amouage Opus VIII. I wore it a lot this summer and enjoyed it greatly. It will be missed!
Since yesterday something is different in the air, despite still being warm and humid. Fall is knocking on the door, waving hello from a very close distance ?. Every year I feel that change, almost around the same time, just from one day to the other. Weird, but interesting feeling.
I started burning a BBW fall candle yesterday and will finish the last one for sumner today. After having an unbelievable amount of candles, I only have 4 left. I made a big dent on my collection, since the pandemic started. I will need few more for next year, so I may wait until the candle day sale.
Happy Monday, everyone! ?
I am waiting for the candle day sale too.
I hope not to forget the day! I want to get some of my favorites.
Which are your favorites? Mine are Winter, Frozen Lake and Evergreen and those are the seasonal ones. Sign up for Bath and Body Works emails and they do remind you.
My all time fall seasonal favorite is Leaves. I also love Autumn, Cranberry Woods and The Perfect Autumn. Pumpkin Carving was a big favorite, but it was discontinued. Not sure what would be the closest one to it these days.
Yes, fall is definitely knocking on the door. I spotted pumpkin hand soap at Whole Foods this weekend.? I don’t want summer to be over…and at the same time, I want to fast forward to NEXT summer just to get past everything that’s going on.
I saw so many pumpkin flavored items in the supermarket yesterday! ?. Better start thinking about next Summer. The idea of a though W…. is overwhelming now!
It feels like fall here today too, which is weird for August 17.
It is! Too early for it! ?
I’m feeling fall too. The birds are not chirping so early. The clouds are low. Sigh..
I’m with mdt in fast forwarding to spring ?
And it is becoming darker in the mornings and the sun shines in a different way! ? Let’s hope Spring arrives soon!???? ?
Yes! Even though it’s sunny, it’s different.
I wish we could season swap! I’d be more than happy to send you summer humidity, bugs, blasting sun, and abundant radiant heat to keep you nice and toasty!
LOL!
Send me all your falls! ? I’ll take every last one of them and be completely weather happy!
After a rough summer, I will just share my falls, but I will send you ALL my winters! ?❄☃️?
I’ll take your winters, too. My hot flashes are powerful enough to heat a small town for at least a month?
Deal! ?
You can have my fall and winter!
LOL!
I’m in the Fall camp too…the more the better!
I knew you’d have my back! ??
On my drive out of the development yesterday, one of the trees was already festooned with fall colors! Wegmans has already started piping out (outside by the exit) pumpkin spice.
There is a tree in front of my building that already has some yellow leaves. The only one in the area. It looks like it got tired of summer already!
Trader Joe’s also has many pumpkin items on stock. I didn’t get anything this time, because it feels too soon, but on my next trip in a couple of weeks I may get at least some pumpkin ice cream! ??
I saw pumpkin ice cream at WholeFoods!
Ohhhh, pumpkin spice all day, every day! ?
Y’all, I heard an elk bugling late last night- a sure sign that Fall is coming soon- at least up here in the foothills of CO. We need it, way too smokey from all the forest fires.
I hope you get some rain. These summer forest fires all over the country are just breaking my heart. ?
Hopefully you will get some rainy and cooler weather soon!
My brother has complained about ash from the forest fires falling on his truck for the past week or so.
I haven’t felt the change in the air yet. Still too darn sticky where I am.
Hopefully, you will start seeing changes soon! ?
Not ready for fall at all! But some nice dry air would sure be appreciated. ?
Oh no, crossing my fingers! I hope you’re COVID-free and that you’re back to normal soon!
AS Sunday today, for the warm comfort it brings. Not quite a unicorn, but it does provide a hard-to-find coziness 🙂
As I said above, hoping it was Covid because it was reasonably mild and then I would feel safer going out (after my quarantine period, obviously) because I’d have some immunity! Of course, if I am flat on my back tomorrow I will change my mind 🙂
I did see that and mentally amended my wish to “I hope you you’e COVID-free soon!”
SOTD will be Tauer incense Flash.
Unicorn is Comptoir Sud Tea that came in the orange bottle.
The CSP Ecume de The? That is a unicorn!
Sigh, why did I not buy a BUB at the time?
Hope you feel better, Robin
Or 2 BUBs! You could sell one to Kevin for big $$$ — he loves it.
Woke up in Coco Mademoiselle this morning. Will be wearing Havana Vanille when everyone leaves my department at work. Started my Rose Water and Ivy candle yesterday and hope that I finish it by Friday. Next to be burned is the Winter Candy Apple.
I tried the rosewater and ivy lotion. It was too much rose for me.
I have a single wick and 3 wick and will agree that the rose is too strong and gets aggravating after a little bit.
Lemon body lotion followed by Acqua Colonia White Peach & Coriander.
Hope you fell better soon Robin, and the results are as you wish.
Violating my no buy with an unsniffed purchase of Fresh Cream Soft Suede off eBay. It interested me. I have few milky scents and the addition of whiskey was hard to pass up.
Started a new hat for donation…so much faster knitting on size 9 versus size 3 needles! Good to mix it up.
Those Philosphy scents are so reasonable I’d say that doesn’t really violate your no buy.? You’ll have to report back on how you like it!
Yeah… $15 is kind of free in perfume math. It’s just a 15 ml bottle.
Lol I carry two projects around just for that reason, a hat on 8s and a shawl or sweater on 3s. ?
I wore one of my rainy day scents, as it finally rained this morning. So I wear Eau de Chrypt. I like this more and more. Maybe FB in the future
CM is a great one if you like it, and absolutely horrendous if you don’t, apparently. Very polarizing scent. I have a FB and wish I could send you a very hefty decant because 1) I’ll never get through the whole bottle and 2) one spray lasts me >24hours on skin and forEVER on fabric!
Rose Jam shower gel.
I really need to get more of this for fall. You smell lovely.
I am all out. I had it in stock for so long that for awhile I did not miss it, but now the lemming is coming on again…
Same re: Rose Jam! I’m currently using the “Dirty” showergel, which is great for hot & humid summer weather. Rose Jam is perfect for fall and/or winter.
That’s the kind of photo I’d like to live in! ?
You know it’s a Monday when you get scheduled for some annual medical tests at the a$$crack of dawn, drag yourself there after hardly any sleep because your days and nights are (still!) mixed up, and then the receptionist tells you, “We have you scheduled for TOMORROW at the a$$crack!” Oy! ?
So, just now getting to choose a perfume and it’s eenie, meenie, miny, mo- EL BG for the win!
Hope everyone else’s morning started in a better fashion. ??
its Monday, get your a$$ crack’n day
Im such a slacker, but seriously happy to be getting this stuff done since I have totally let my health slip since I started traveling three years ago. Welcome back from vacation! I must have missed your “I’m going on vacation” post, or I forgot I saw it because I’m old and demented. I’ve missed your almost daily Shalimar posts and was concerned you might be ill. Very happy I was wrong and you were enjoying a bit of R&R with family! ??
The only thing I was “ill” about was figuring out school for my little ones this fall..
On vacation I brought one decant of the “orange creamsicle” Shalimar, and the regular EdT. Most days I just smelled like Caress soap. Does anyone still use that one. I love it.
Lots of reading. The home we rented in the sticks had a rooster and chickens that came to visit every morning. He was a gentleman and didn’t come hollering too early.
My gosh, that school issue is killing me and I don’t even have kids. You have my sympathy! I hope you find a way to manage it that works for your entire family.
I do stuff like that regularly. Once, I rushed from work to school, drove kids home, rushed back to work for a meeting, took the steps up the conference room two at a time – and arrived at a locked door. Wrong week.
Good to know I’m not alone. Honestly, I’m questioning my cognitive status…!
Ugh.. sorry Deva!
Check out my morning, lol.
I checked it out. That woman has bad karma coming her way for asking you that. I’ve been asked that as well off and on over the years. Last time I was asked, I responded “Yeah, triplets!” ?
Well that sux! Bon courage for tomorrow, hope you get some sleep.
Thanks, it’s my own fault, which irritates me even more, if that makes sense!
Thanks for the reminder that Monday could ALWAYS be worse!
Following my elixir moment with good old Eau des Merveilles. Extra orangey today!
I don’t think I’ve captured any unicorns, so it will just be a wistful week of admiring all of your successful chases.
Well you smell too good to be wistful about perfume 🙂
True! And thanks!
Hope you feel better and get plenty of rest, Robin.
Ligne St. Barth Vanille West Indies today.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53788018
Highest temperature ever recorded on Earth potentially in Death Valley…130F (54.4C) ?
OMG! Just kill me now, I couldn’t take that! I should have been born during the Little Ice Age…☃️❄️
Just wow.
I heard about that Death Valley temp this afternoon! Still not confirmed, though.
Why do I wish I was there…to experience it? (In a new car with a full tank and some water to get away after….)
Glad you’re feeling better already, Robin!
Another fun CP but one I probably don’t have anything to contribute for.
SOTD: SJP’s Lovely
Struggling (again) with my WFH set up, ugh. Back in my husband’s studio but missing my office chair like mad!
P.S. visited Saks on Sat. — first time since the pandemic started — and so fun to do a little sniffing around. There’s lots of notes/signs saying do not touch, staff will help, and I obeyed for the most part 🙂
No purchases but may go back and pick up a Goutel since it looks like they’re pulling out of the U.S. and Saks is winnowing down her offerings.
I noticed that all the Goutal items are discounted on the Saks website. Quick! Grab ’em!
Good morning Y’all!
After a lazy style weekend it stings to be back in the pharmacy already! Lazy weekends are the best!
Fighting back with D&G Light Blue Dreaming of Portofino….I can dream of a sunny day outside away from work! 🙂
Sorry Jada!
Monday of my last week before retirement. 5 pebbles left in the jar on my desk, one for each day this week. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Commando so far, it is outrageously hot. 82 degrees at 7am, YUCK. At least we didn’t get any lightning storms last night — the previous night was surreal, with near constant lightning strikes from 3 am til 8 am. Spectacular to watch, but scary too. My husband was out from 4:30am to 11pm with his fire dept, fighting all the small fires. Hoping this heat wave ends soon.
I shall have to think about unicorns…. I’m sure I have acquired some (restraint is not my MO, lol). The ones I can think of are mostly winter frags which I can’t even contemplate wearing in this weather.
What a feeling that must be! Countdown is definitely on!
I think the Royal Extract II could count as a unicorn with the trials and tribulations of finally getting it!
Yes, that was an adventure, for sure!
Woohoo for almost-retirement!!!
Yeah that lightning storm was crazy. (For non-Bay Area people, the Bay Area NEVER gets thunderstorms. The last one I can remember was YEARS ago.) Kept us up nearly all night. Thankfully, the cat wasn’t scared at all. She just looked out the window with interest.
We had 4 rolls of low key thunder and the dog was scared….
Yeah that storm was something. We opened the bedroom curtains and watched the storm for a long time. Our cat was just curious too.
Looks like the smoke from the fires on the coast is drifting our way now… ugh
I settled on SOTD = Dame Passionfruit, Orange Blossom, and Vetiver. My favorite Dame scent.
Pixel, I am enjoying the countdown! Probably not as much as you are.
Do you have a celebration planned for after that last pebble is gone?
My Monday smells like Chanel 1957 – lots and lots of plushy white musks.
I like the unicorn theme for the CP project this week. Need to think about how to tackle the subject 😉
You smell nice!
Thank you! For a white musk galore this is a surprisingly good one.
SOTD = Gucci Tears of Iris
I’m with the CP today! Check out the IG link to read about it.
So good but with the longevity of a gnat. With that said, I normally would not use longevity as a criteria for purchasing or not purchasing a perfume.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CD_tMKrBsDS/?igshid=1t0t4543ie1sx
In other news, thanks to all who indicated their interest in participating in the Chanel Le Lion Split. I have to email several of you back. I updated my ShopFrance request and I hope Suzan can fulfill my requests!
Wow that bottle is gorgeous! Owls are my aspirational spirit animal.
It is gorgeous and feels good. And owls ?
I really want to try that Gucci but those fragrances can’t be had in Poland and I didn’t have luck in finding splits.
Maybe when there’s another friendship exchange …
So is it as good as the Chanel La Pausa (which also has longevity of a gnat)?
28 La Pausa actually lasts way longer on me – 8 sprays = 8 hours. Tears of Iris fizzled out after 2.5 hours and the next 8 lasted a little bit over 2 hours. It smells really good though.
Aha.
Perfect bottle for you: iris + owls!
Yes it is!
I don’t factor in longevity usually, either.
Yep!
No scent yet, sometimes I check here for inspiration first! I’m afraid right at this moment, the SOTD is dog fart….
LOL!
Ha! I’ve worn that scent occasionally as well! ?
LOL! You just broke my cranky day!?
Glad to hear the fart did some good! 🙂
Hahaaa! ?
Glad that my cats don’t fart much at all!
Failing the CP, except tangentialy, still on the lookout for the best Vanilla ever…
SOTD = Solstice Scents Mountain Vanilla. This one was a free sample that came with purchased samples of Estate Carnation, Estate Vanilla and After the Rain that I ordered. This one is my favorite, but not an immediate love, and the only one I might replace with one of the larger spray samples. Definitely Vanilla, slightly sweet, with a mentholated herbal tang, layered over slightly smoky woods. Much less of the burned sugar aspect that makes the Estate samples unattractive to me. The menthol makes it seem sorta masculine on first application, but it settles in and is soothing and stimulating at the same time, rich on skin, not too much sillage, a good work from home scent, and probably a winterish work from the office scent, those who still go to offices or clinics or whatnot. After the Rain smells moldy to me – I think she got a bad batch of something – it’s hard to imagine that anyone would want to smell like that on purpose. The other free sample I was sent is Gin Flower, which smells good on first sniff, and lives up to it’s name, but it has the tang of tobacco in it, so I am afraid to even put it on my skin and be exposed to it for all day long…
The weather is lovely, and since I am working from home, I spent the lunch hour tidying up my yard. I don’t know where all that miscellaneous stuff comes from! It looks better now. 🙂
Have you tried just wearing vanilla extract? ?.
With that said, I keep wondering if you should let the perfumes rest for a month before wearing them. I never heard of doing that or I should say I never paid attention to any paper or instructions and only clued in to it when resident vanilla expert She-Ra mentioned it — or I could be misattributing, but you get the picture.
My favorite vanilla is L’eau de Missions, or whatever it was called, which is a pretty straight up vanilla, I have to admit. I am sorry they discontinued it.
These Solstice scents have rested since I got them now in early June, so they have aged two months, and the Mountain Vanilla and the Gin Flower do smell more balanced to me now than they did initially. The Estate Vanilla also smells better than it did as the burned sugar has mellowed a bit, but I like the Mountain Vanilla much more. The Estate Carnation is a disappointment because I get lots of burned sugar and little wafts of carnation now and then. I don’t know what that is – maybe it is supposed to be a caramel or something, but to me it smells like a candy factory had a fire…. and caramel and carnation have nothing to do with each other in my mind to begin with. And the “After the Rain” just smells off to me, from the first sniff, and hasn’t changed.
But with my many allergies, I am sure what I smell and what people whose nasal passages have not reacted violently to most growing things every summer for decades, might be very different. I actually have 3 other Solstice Scents in my “Samples to Buy” queue right now – so I am not dissing the perfumer or the brand in general, it’s just that some of these I picked didn’t suit me.
I like that one too. I’m being serious about vanilla extract. The 16oz bottle of Vanilla extract from Costco lists Vanilla bean extract and alcohol (30%).
Or get some vanilla beans, and soak them in vodka for a while….
CM8 posted something ages ago here about soaking vanilla beans in oil for a scented body treat…
I tried it this morning, liberal dabs of organic vanilla extract in ETOH on back of my hand and wrist. Smelled like vanilla up close For about15 minutes, then poof, gone like the wind. Re-scanted with many sprays of Durga! That will stick around for a while…
Respirated… when I typed it here stupid spell checker guessed – we you what it guess. I told it it was wrong but it did it anyway.
Re -sprayed!
Good ideas posted by LisaD and jalapeno!
I was helping a lady with her bags today, when she said “are you having a boy or a girl?” At first I was confused but realized she thought I was pregnant! I just said neither and changed the subject. I tried to console myself by thinking my face must look young enough to be with child, until I remembered I was wearing a mask! ??
I guess it’s good bye Moon Pies!
Seriously though, it wrecked my morning.
At least I smell good in Dolce and Gabbana Pour Femme.
Oh Robin, I’m sorry you are sick. I wish you health and immunity!
That’s the worst! Happened to me a few times over the years. Actually, 4 times. I wonder whether this happens to every woman at least once? The good thing is – I NEVER ask anyone if they are pregnant.
I should add – I recently got invited to join the senior citizen line at Trader Joes….and I’m quite a few years away from the minimum eligibility age. I blamed it on the mask, too.
Oh no! Too bad it wasn’t for a discount.
I never ask either!
Once when my daughter was about 6 or 7, she asked a woman if she was going to have a baby. That women tore me up one side and down the other. An over reaction for sure, but maybe this was her payback to me!
I feel bad for her kids if she had any? ??♀️
She did. She went on and on about how my daughter had embarrassed her. It was awful.
Oof. Once, a few years ago, when I was at my max weight, I was at a Container Store when a sweet old dog ambled over to me and rested her head on me leg. As I scratched her head, her human said to me, “She loves pregnant woman!” That was a kick in the pants to start exercising.
Oops, women*
Omg! Yeah… I probably need a kick in the pants.
Oh my… well that is a tough bill to swallow.
Joining you for a kick in the tuchus, I have to go with the hubby for his six-month post surgery cardiologist appointment, I’m dreading putting on pants but maybe this is just the motivation I need to get on with it.
Sorry, I meant tough ‘pill’ to swallow…. 😯
Yikes, boggles the mind what comes out of people’s minds these days. I once had a physician ask me, straight faced. “What race are you?” I was so astounded I couldn’t even wrap my mind around that enough to respond. The next thing out of his mouth was, “Because, you know, you’re nose.” ?
Was his name Dr. Archie Bunker?
Lol.
*Snort*?
Good one! Archie Bunker was known for hoof in mouth disease, wasn’t he??
All I can say is WTFrick.
I know..!
I encountered a question about race when I was doing paperwork for pre-paying my mom’s funeral expenses. I honestly didn’t know how to answer that question at first, since what popped into my head was “Human”. Pretty sure that wasn’t the information they wanted.
The race/ethnicity question gets posed to me much more often than it should.
You poor thing. Maybe the person had on eyeglasses with an outdated prescription?
It did occur to me, much later, that why would she let a pregnant woman carry her bags? Especially since when we got to the car, there was an able bodied man waiting. So I am just assuming she is dumb.
???
Oh, so sorry. I had that happen one time – I was wearing a gathered tunic I had bought in Morroco, and working at a library, and someone asked me when I was due. I turned the tunic into a couple head scarves. 🙂
I bet it looked great as a scarf!
Lillyjo, I had that same question asked when I was in my late 40’s. I laughed and said “Not pregnant, just fat.” Embarrassed the person who asked, and this individual was not easily shamed. I thought the question rather silly, given my age.
That’s why I thought, well I must look great for my age! Lol
Yep! ?
Glad you feel better Robin, take it easy today.
Wearing Fidji for sunshine on this rainy day (a big thunderstorm).
You’ve got me so interested in Fidgi, I put it on my list for next summer.
So glad to have turned you on to it. It is beautiful, Victoria from BdJ loves it too, when I told her once I was wearing it, she said it was a gem.
Hello all,
My SOTD is Lady Primrose, EDP spray and silk body powder. Very refined floral, and the body powder smells lovely, I get amber, stemmy/greens, and orange blossom.
That sounds really good!
I have a refill of the body silk, but I don’t know if it’s still in production. I found a website with the set I have, cream, powder, and bath salts.
https://www.thelinentree.com/blog/tag/lady-primrose/
Robin, I forgot to mention I hope you get the results you want. And feel better!
I second that! Hoping you feel better and for quick results.
Thanks both!
Atelier des Ors Rouge Saray from a decant. I think I don’t need more of it, it’s just okay. I like Rose Omeyyad better.
More humid heat, very low perfume mojo lately due to anxiety about an impending move. It will be fine in a year but right now I’m in the middle of the stress.
Are you getting ready to return to Cali?
In the short term yes, for the winter as usual, but then in May we’ll be moving to British Columbia.
Oh wow! Is it the move to BC you’re stressing over? And will you be leaving Montreal (I think that’s where you summer, iirc.) none of my business, of course, but just curious. I hope things go smoothly with all the upcoming changes! ??
Yeah, we are selling the Montreal condo and buying a place in BC. I hope things go smoothly but you know what it’s like selling real estate….
Wow, good luck with that. I’ve stayed with friends in Richmond. I have a cousin in Victoria (the one who wanted us to livestream my dad’s memorial service because she and her family already have a cruise planned at that time – answer: NO).
What?? SERIOUSLY??
Get out of here! Talk about self absorbed.
Ai! Good luck with both your impending moves!
Oh goodness, good luck!
I’m in Initio Side Effect, from a small decant. I’m about finished with it, and unfortunately this is growing on me. Or is it fortunately? I don’t need another spicy vanilla in my collection. Me wants….
I have the very handsome Initio Discovery Set in preparation for an Osswald Zoom event and I just checked – it includes Side Effect!
I hope you like it, and have fun at the event! ?
Robin, I’m sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well. Fingers and toes crossed for negative results on that CV-19 test!
SOTD = Wrappings, from the sample stash. This keeps moving up higher and higher on the “Buy a Full Bottle!” list.
I suggest pouncing when you see it. I was lucky to find the set online at a discount around March 2 years ago and that was by pure luck / chance.
That’s the plan, unless I get distracted by something else. Got something to confess to Donatella already…
Oohh.. can’t wait!
Oooh…
Too many shinies on the discount sites!
I’m glad you love Wrappings. Keep your fingers crossed the Holiday Gift set should be available in October! I’ve waited until after Christmas and usually it’s on sale at a pretty good discount on Clinique’s website.
Hi all. It’s my birthday and I’m doing nothing, zilch, nada. Except a couple of Zoom meetings today and some nice dry Riesling now. I’m trying Tom Ford Noir from a sample. Kind of meh, like the day. Maybe next year we can have birthdays again.
Fingers crossed for you, Robin.
Still going to wish you a Happy Scented Birthday Calypso! ??
Happy birthday Calypso !!
Happy birthday, Calypso! When it’s safe, let’s have lunch and celebrate your special day properly. ???
Happy Birthday Calypso!?
Happy birthday! Trying to shout out a good birthday ‘fume: I like TF Noir well enough, but maybe you have some Miss Dior, or BaV, or vintage Opium = party-in-a-bottle IMHO!
Happy Birthday, Calypso! ?
Super Happy Birthday to you!
Happy birthday, Calypso!
A very happy birthday, even if it wasn’t exactly what you wanted! At least for a nice Riesling, right?
Today I am wearing Clinique Peace & Jasmine.
Robin, I hope you feel better soon.
I like that one. It really doesn’t feel peaceful.
Does!
IIRC, that one was rather pretty and quite wearable when I sniffed it.
On of my son’s senior pictures looks soooo much like the setting in that picture, Robin. Fence, field and all!
I’m in Assam of India. What else do you wear when it’s 107 and smoky and ashy (insert crying face)?!
I’m wearing Osmanthe Yunnan, for the same reasons. Though it’s 112 here, but probably less smoky.
Oh, and hope you feel better soon, Robin.
Makes me want to not complain when it’s 90 degrees (it’s not now … we’re in the 70s 80s here).
Don’t miss those conditions at all. Fire season sucks.
What a great idea for a senior picture!
SOTD EL Tuscany per donna. I love it so.
Do you have the new version or the older, cooler bottle? I used to really like it. I know it’s dumb but I immensely dislike the EL uniform bottles. I’ve been on the hunt for an older Cinnabar.
I have original bottles – found after many an hour lurking on Ebay, and one thrift store find. I too dislike the standardized bottle, and I can’t remember if I’ve tried Tpd in the new bottle; but I did try Cinnabar in the new bottle and it was quite good, if that helps.
I remember wishing I could afford a bottle of Tuscany per Donna when it came out, but I was a broke college student at the time. It was a gorgeous sandalwood perfume back then.
Also, ITA with lillyjo… HATE the new standardized EL bottles. They’re boring.
And cheap looking.
It’s a cool cool evening although still humid, and it feels like ‘the signal’ from Mother Nature for the approach of Fall. It’s that weird sensation from childhood I get that says school will be starting soon. It’s a bittersweet need to hold onto late nights outside vs. the anticipation of the smell of fresh pencil shavings and the excitement of clothes shopping for new & warmer outfits. It always leaves me a bit melancholy.
Feel better Robin, I hope that you get your way!
I am in Monsillage Eau Fraiche. I love this one for summer, always so fresh and crisp.
What you said about this time of year really put my feelings into words.
Thanks Lillyjo.
