Hump Day, World Elephant Day and International Youth Day. Birthdays: Radclyffe Hall, Pat Metheny. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm taking points in a Guerlain creamsicle: one spray of Spiritueuse Double Vanille, two sprays of Mandarine Basilic. If I had Demeter Condensed Milk on hand, it would be perfect. (Then again, I could just get Demeter Orange Cream Pop.)
Reminder: 8/14 is Creamsicle Day! Wear a creamsicle fragrance if you have one. (And you can find lots of suggestions — including layering combos — in the comments to 5 perfumes: consider the creamsicle).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Finishing work in a couple of minutes! Woohoo! Feels nice to be halfway through the week. Weekend is this much closer now.
Not a creamsicle but I decided to go tropical today in Mona di Orio Jabu. Petitgrain, orange, lots of ylang, woods and tonka. Good for 28°C.
The notes sound good! Saw your pic on IG. What are you training for!
Ever since the beginning of 2020 I’ve been doing a lot of home exercises and changing my eating habits. I’ve lost over 20 kgs in 6 months.
The picture you saw was from my EMS training – you work out in a special suit that additionally stimulates muscle with electro impulses. It’s so intense that 20 minutes are an equivalent of few hours at the gym with heavy weights.
Wow, that’s impressive! I’m happy with 3 kg in 12 months ?.
You smell great!
Thanks a lot
More bright and cheerful with Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Orange Magnifica. I touch too clean and mild for me, but considering some of the AAs that followed, a triumph.
Dear me, the AA line sure has had a few duds, haven’t they?
Good morning! I’m wearing reminiscence guimauve today so I have 50% of a Creamsicle going. I just blind bought a small bottle of gucci (the brown one) so if i don’t like it it will go into the swap pile 🙂
If you don’t like it right away, try it again in cooler weather. Personally, I find it too heavy in the summer.
Taking points in Fendi Theorema.
You smell fantastic.
I wonder if I can find my bottle of Theorama Esprit d’Ete for tomorrow?
I am guessing that will be my Friday.
Wearing Theorema Esprit d’Ete and saving Theorema EDP for tomorrow. (Thanks for the reminder, MonkeyToe!) Shoes on and out the door for my favorite 4.5 mile walk to start the day.
Have a great walk springpansy!
How does it compare to the orginal Theorema, which I love?
According to Fragrantica, the original Theorema has much more spice. The Esprit de Ete has vanilla, which I don’t see listed in the original. Both scents do have amber and citrus.
I will take a peek and compare too
They’re pretty different. Citrussy but not spicy as Jalapeno said. I prefer the original.
good to know!
Ooh, making a note of the idea of layering Demeter Condensed Milk and a fragrance that smells like oranges. 😀 I still have a bunch of those Atelier Cologne Advent Calendar samples, and many other citrus fragrances. I think Rayleighblue was the one who really got me into grapefruit and other citrus fragrances. 🙂 (Thank you!)
And I could doctor up a spray of CSP Vanille Abricot (thank you, nancyleandros!) with a layer of orange…
Currently, I still smell somewhat like cardamom candle wax. (lol!) I broke out several of my dozens and dozens of candles when the electricity went out last night. I was trying to pour off some of the melted wax from the candle jar so the puddle of wax wouldn’t extinguish the flames, and ended up wearing a bit of the cardamom candle wax. Oh, well. I smell kind of spicy, and oddly enough, I’m smelling a parsley smell from it. I’m just glad that the power went back on after a few hours.
Oh, and that’s a pretty photo above. 🙂 I clicked on the link, and admired the photographer’s lovely pictures of flowers and butterflies and what I took to be antique buildings. And I thought yesterday’s tea set was very pretty, too. 🙂
She did Monday’s photo too. So sorry you lost power! We did not, for once, but I heard thunder a few minutes ago…
Yes, we had quite the thunderstorm in the afternoon, but the lights stayed on today. We did a very productive grocery shopping trip in the morning, and were home well before the thunder started, but I decided that I didn’t feel like going out again that day.
Good idea with the atelier citruses, I’m gonna add one to my mix!
❤️?
I just layered Demeter Condensed Milk over some L’Artisan Mandarine. Not too shabby, if I may say so.
Yummy. 🙂 *makes a note*
Ugh, sorry about the power outage! Based on how our weather has been, I’m keeping flashlights handy until the end of September.
I second that thought. 🙂 We’ve had the transformer nearest to us blow out with a bang like three times this summer, at times when it wasn’t raining. Mom’s been talking on and off about getting a generator.
And I never did get around to perfume or cologne, creamsicle or not.
Mom finally ordered her own Kindle, the basic Kindle e-reader. She got spoiled being able to adjust the font size of the text. She showed me a paperback she got from the library yesterday that had very small print. “I’ll look to see if it’s available as an e-book,” she said. I said she’d have a lot of choices of Kindle books to draw from sharing with me, since I’d been getting free romance and cozy mystery e-books for years. That’s not even counting library e-books.
Good morning Y’all! Trying to get back to a regular groove of posting and enjoying this passion of mine!
Enjoying Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur today…the chamomile is sooooo good and relaxing!
I really liked that one the only time I got to try it. Of course, no one has perfume testers out anymore. The bottle is really pretty.
I agree! It’s one of the prettiest bottle I’ve seen recently. I desperately wanted to like this, but it was not good on my skin. I hope you can try it again sometime soon. ?
Good morning nsters. No creamsicle scents here. That picture reminds me of my little house in Greece outside Athens when we lived there.
A zoom class this morning. I think some Tam Dao will be nice.
I want to live in a little house in Greece…
Me too! Just a month in a cottage in Greece would be so lovely.
And me! We just finished a puzzle of a picture of Santorini. That’s the top travel destination on my list when we can get back to travelling. DH’s top destination is Antarctica. Talk about different vibes…
Wow, that is different! Maybe alternate years/choices?
My little house in Greece had blue shutters and mint and basil growing outside the kitchen door. It was 6 blocks to the Med.
The house, like many in Greece was named and had a small plaque above the door that said ” Summer dream”. Except it was in Greek. I wept when we left.
So sorry. I want that house too, just from your description.
Chergui for me today. I love Chergui when it’s hot out.
Solved the neighbor’s tree over our fence problem by chopping tree limb into a few smaller pieces and tossing them back over the fence. Now their tree is their problem again, but by doing part of the work for them we have been good neighbors.
Had they come to talk to you about it, even? That is really crappy.
So your fence wasn’t damaged?
AdP Magnolia Nobile. I love your fragrance combination Robin 🙂
It worked surprisingly well! But you need more of the MB, for sure.
Woke in Bengale Rouge today. May refresh or switch it up, to be determined.
I have Anne Pliska, which smells like creamsicle to some, but not to me. And it’s just too hot for that one, so I’ll have to get creative.
Looking forward to some kayaking later in the week. Happy hump day!
Jealous of your kayaking, in advance! Wish I could get to my sister’s lake house.
No creamsicle scents here, so I’m in OJ Champaca.
I’m ready to be done with summer. I like heat fine, but this humidity is for the birds.
Had a nice time at my knitting group last night. We limited the # of people, and it was nice to catch up and see all the beautiful donations created during the lockdown. One of the women performs with the Oratorio Society, and she confirmed Carnegie Hall is closed down until at least January. Which means our Messiah tradition won’t happen this year. ?
I’m with you on the humidity. It was 94% when I got up this morning, ugh.
Oh, that’s just oppressive!
yay for knitting group! 😀
my fingers are itching for needles and wool 😉
Triomphe (Rance) today; orange, but no creamsicle. 🙂
Half point?
I’m in Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil, which I love.
cool bottle too! 😀
As do I 🙂
Hello all!
I’m in newest formulation of Ambre Sultan, which came free with my La Myrrhe cloche I bought a few months ago. I wouldn’t pick it for myself but I don’t mind having it on hand. I think it goes very well with the intolerable heat.
In other news, my new car arrives today! So excited!
Stay safe all.
Ooh, excited to see your car if you choose to post it on IG!
Fantastic! I hope it’s everything you expected and more.
Oh yay, what fun!
YAY!! new car smell!
I woke up in vintage Mitsouko this morning. Haven’t worn Mitsouko in quite a while. I am happy that I will have two packages to open when I get home from work today. Will be wearing Kyoto at work.
I have a package that came this morning before 9am and I will let it sit for at least a day.
Most packages that come, usually arrive in the afternoon. Joys of living in a rural area.
I adore Mitsouko, even the current formulation. You smell excellent!
Coffee, geriatric cat perched on my back, no SOTD, yet. I will go out for a run in a bit, so maybe I’ll wear something to project my personal space bubble at people I may pass by.
Another “work” day for me today, with two meetings. The second is a White Fragility book study group with a handful of staff from my school. We’ve spent the last 3 weeks on Chapter two, opting to take our time and have the conversations rather than pushing past it with some sense of urgency just to get it done. It’s good work, and I’m glad we’re doing it.
I accidentally left the soaker hose running all night long last night. So, one of my beds of flowers is very deeply watered right now. Not a risk of overwatering when it’s so dry, but it still feels wasteful!
A fascinating read.
It’s really good. It’s already changed how I talk about race and my own Whiteness (while reassuring me about some of my habits of speach I’ve acquired in the past).
SOTD = triple threat creamsicle combo of Prada Les Infusions Mandarine, Tauerville Vanilla Flash and L’AP Safran Troublant
???
https://www.instagram.com/p/CDy07KcBfGJ/?igshid=7r8nqqcxl6uk
Now back to (home) work!
Lol at triple threat! Those bottles match beautifully together! Like they were meant to be.
The combo smelled really good!
Oh nice!
I think the key was adding Safran Troublant to round out the layering.
Wow that’s a power combo!
I used fewer spritzes overall and ended up not re-upping. Mit is still wafting pretty nicely.
Don’t hear very much about Vanilla Flash here.
Morning indecision: Bulari blue tea on one side and Zeste de Soleil on the other.
My guess is the Zeste du Soleil is winning the sillage race!
My guess is that a spritz of rosewater might win against the blue tea! I still quite like it, fleeting or no…
Sleepy and wish I could go back to bed. In Baiser de Russie today which is so pretty but hitting too sweet for me right now. Wish I’d went with something a little crisper.
Sleepy twins!
Hey twin! Let’s go back to bed!
Hope things perk up or that you can take a nap.
Not a creamsicle kind of girl, so I’m in Chanel Paris – Deauville because I wish I was there. I am not built for this hot and humid weather. Need to pick up at the library today and maybe later continue my adventure through the Avengers movies!!
I’m with you on the weather! Though I usually will walk in brutal weather, that his full month of 90+ in the northeast has worn me down.
I love that one so much. You smell amazing today.
We have just finished working our way thru the Thor oeuvre 🙂 I try not to drool visibly in front of DH 😉
just watched Thor last night—drool, I was licking the screen!
No creamsicle, but I am in LL Jasmin 17, which has that fruity pebbles vibe in its opening.
Maybe we need a fruity pebbles project!
Or just cereal?
We did a cereal grains project, but maybe “commercial cereal” or something…
Opted for No 19 EDP, so no points. Saving Anne Pliska for Friday and hoping it cools off in time to wear. AP scares me a bit – it’s very assertive. Humidity and heat here are brutal (for the Northeast). Trying to imagine myself on the beach with feet in the water, a good book, and a big floppy hat.
Should I spring for Theorema on evilbay? Seems very pricey.
Twins!
Yay!
I’m going to say “No” on blind buying Theorema. It did not work at all on me.
And you are not alone! Anngd, it’s risky.
Thanks Robin. A sample first.
I blind bought it and loved it! But I bought a mini first to test – maybe that’s the way to go?
Actually anngd I can send you a sample if you want to try. Email me at yasminazsquared land of the geemale
So generous, Yasmina. Thanks, will email.
Interesting. It gets so much love here.
Robin, do you think there will ever be a international tired, cranky, middle aged lady day? Or is that what all the chocolate days are for??
Speaking of chocolate… at the pharmacy I found boxes of chocolate moon pies for a dollar, plus they had coupons on them for fifty cents off.. plus I had a twenty percent loyalty coupon! Chocolate math free! I bought 5 boxes, lol.
Sotd is No.19 edp because I wanted to smell classy.
Ha, that is every day in my house!
Sounds like every day at my house too! Chocolate is the best antidote.
You smell elegant. Wow free chocolate, enjoy. What is moon pie chocolate, please?
It’s a round graham cracker like cookie stuffed with marshmallow fluff and covered in chocolate. Yum!
Thank you Lillyjo, enjoy them.
Moon Pies come in different flavors, Aurora. I remember Banana and Chocolate ones from my childhood. There could be other flavors by now, I guess.
Thank you Jalapeno, I know pinwheels but had no idea about moon pies.
They do come in banana, but it’s just not the same.. Unless I could dip it in chocolate, lol.
It occurs to me that your description of the Chocolate Moon Pie sounds a LOT like a S’More!
Hey sweetpea, it was good about your son getting a job. Nice work. Glad you have enough chocolate to see you through the day.
Thank you! He’s working tonight. I’m home not worrying..
It is possible to be too cranky for chocolate?? ???
It is certainly possible to be too cranky to fetch the chocolate. Too cranky to eat it when it’s sitting right there, I don’t think so!
Now that is a day for me haha!!!! And good score on the Moon Pies. I haven’t had one in ages!
I know it is hot outside, but in my basement office I am pretty chilly, so I am wearing socks with my Birkenstocks, and a wool/silk cardigan over my linen pants and linen t-shirt. 🙂
And in La Liturgie des Heures + a swipe of the Somalian Rose/Nag Champa/Frankencense/Sandlewood oil that is my other favorite scent, after the Chypre/Wisteria combo I wore the other day.
I am sadly lacking in Creamsicle candidates…but I am enjoying the creative application of the concepts people come up with here. 🙂
Your outfit sounds classy, comforting and just perfect.
I love wearing linen -it is soothing to my irritation prone skin, and I can put it on, and then forget about it, because it’s going to look wrinkled anyway, which just announces, Real linen!, and the more you wash it the softer it gets. And Birkies – not that I am a huge granola head or anything, they look clunky, but my feet and legs just feel much better if I wear them. I’m a comfort first sorta gal. Then I pick pretty colors, so that anyone who is noticing can tell I made some effort. This outfit is shades of blue and navy, and the navy socks have little turquoise and pink flowers on them. Perky.
I’ve never tried on linen. How does it feel compared to, say, cotton?
Cheap linen can be scratchy but good linen is soft…absolutely my favorite summer fabric.
Definitely worth paying for the good stuff, then! I can’t STAND scratchy anything.
Linen breathes more than cotton- I feel cooler in linen than in cotton when it gets hot. Good linen that calls itself “natural” or “organic” probably has fewer coatings on it than most cotton which is treated to be less inclined to wrinkle, and that is probably what makes me feel less itchy- I have a lot of allergies and low grade chemical sensitivities. Linen just is less irritating in some way than cotton. Probably if I spent money on high grade, certified organic cotton I might have that same sort of relief but if I am going to spend a lot of money, might as well get linen, right?
The handkerchief weight linen shirts LLBean and ColdWater Creek have in the summertime go on sale and are pretty cheap. I buy them and linen things from Orvis, ( no affiliation with any of these, they are common catalog outlets I use) – just avoid the ones that say “treated to be less wrinkly.” I buy oversized and wash them in hot water with baby detergent and no other additives and dry them vigorously. Once they stop shrinking after half a dozen washes, and the fibers fluff up they get really soft and I have some that are years old – the good ones wear like iron and the poorly made ones sewn with cotton or polyester thread will experience seam failure after a while.. I figured one time that the detergent that is non- irritating to baby bottoms might be gentle on my skin too, and sure enough, less itchy.
Atelier Camelia Intrepide this morning. It’s nice, soft suede with powder and something vaguely sweet. I’m thinking it’s an old sample, because it packed more of a punch when I tried it when it came out in 2016. Or maybe my nose has changed. I’ll try to create a creamsicle this afternoon with Mandarine Glaciale and Tihota. We’ll see how that goes!
Sautéed some mushrooms and cooked turkey Italian sausage for homemade pizza tonight. That’s for hubster. I trash mine up with pineapple, Canadian bacon, bell peppers and barbecue sauce. Rebel.
My husband and I have NEVER agreed upon pizza toppings. It keeps us from trying the artisanal places in the neighborhood (we are spoiled with several world-class options in walking distance), because they only offer one, large size of pie, and they’re $$$. Guess I need to find a pizza buddy.
Yep, I load up with veg and Canadian bacon, and hubs is all about the meat and cheese. ?
Love Camilla Intrepid. You smell great!
Why thank you, lillyjo!
I think that ALL those pizza toppings sound great! ??
Wednesday!
1) Am in the Petals fragrance by BeautyPie. It will not be reordered by the company ( I think this was a slow seller for them) and will be enjoying the last of the bottle.
2) A cool, dry morning today and the day may not see 80F- perfect for after work (masked) bike ride.
3) I have huckleberries from a connection and I am so happy! They have been portioned out and are now in the freezer; later on in the season the tiny, super sweet ones come in from the coast, and I hope I can score a pound of those to make into syrup! Also, plum and blackberry jamming is in the works for the weekend.
As a kid in Lincoln City, we would sneak onto reservation land and pick huckleberries on the north end of town. There’s a casino there, now, and no more huckleberries. 🙁 I would be more ethical and seek out a farmstand nowadays, but I do miss those lovely gems!
Oh wow! What a memory! And imho huckleberries are of more value than that Casino, but cash is king, I guess!
There are still loads of huckleberries left though- both red and purple, but it’s all connections, not cultivated- and worth the price paid!
Whenever I go hiking, I keep an eye out. I know where some grow, but not enough to do much more than munch on them in the moment!
Better a helmet than a mask if I were to pick one. The other day I saw parents with their 2 young children, one of them old enough to be on his own bike and the other other just a baby sitting in the back of the mom’s bike. No helmets at all. SMH.
I wear both!
Good for you. I’m convinced my brother would have lost his life had he not been wearing his helmet when he was biking at the Tyrone Creek State Park and basically blacked out. To this day, there was no explanation to how it happened (how he got knocked off his bike and also had a spider bite).
Oh how frightening! And yes, wearing a helmet is a good idea while biking.
Still rather hot, was wearing Prescriptives Calyx to which I added Yves Rocher Monoï Eau des Vahinées edt. I’ve got to figure out something for the CP.
*vahinés, sorry for the typo.
Caylx.. so good and so unique. Lucky you for having the Prescriptives version. Have any of the top notes gone off?
The top notes are intact, I keep my 50ml bottle in the fridge though.
The Prescriptives version of Calyx can hold up rather well if it is kept cool and away from light. I have a bottle of it, too. Might pull that out sometime soon.
I think that I have an old one too, I am going to need to hunt for it!
I’d like to hear how yours has held up!
Nice combo! I love Calyx; it’s so good in the heat.
Calyx seems to have a lot of fans. It works well with the Yves Rocher Eau des Vahinés.
Orange Sanguine with a drop of Bois de Vanilla, so a bit of Creamsicle. We are dogsitting a friend’s dog for the evening, but she is so hot and just lies on the floor
Or she misses your friend?
Wednesday! I have 8 pebbles left in the jar on my desk, for 8 work days left til I retire. Yessssssss
No scent for me for the past few days. I have been having terrible headaches; rude combination of heat (not so hot today, tho a heat wave is coming); stress (working 12 hour days); and eyestrain (working 12 hour days). I picked up a perfume bottle this morning, and decided Nope! Best not to associate a scent with this headache.
Can’t wait to be done with this…! (both the headache and the work)
Sorry about the headache but big yay for 8 days left!!
I hope things turn around soon with the stress
Woo hoo on the 8 working days!
SO jealous!! 8 almost 7 days. wowzer.
Woohoo! Yay for 8 days!!
So close! And I hope that your headache is gone now.
Speaking from the other side, you will love being retired!! I know I do.
You are almost there! ?
I don’t know if I can concoct a scent for the CP Friday so I’m just wearing what I want this week. Today I spied my bottle of Commes des Garcons 2, the one with incense and ink so I put some on. It’s wonderful to cut through some of the heat, one of those perfumes I love and forget about for long periods, then it’s like finding a friend ?
I forget about it too! You smell great.
Deauville today…the patchouli was calling to me…loud and clear.
Today is my dad’s 2nd birthday since he passed and I am feeling quite sad…seems worse than last year perhaps with everything else going on in the world right now.
Sending you big vanilla hugs my friend. 🙂
I’m sorry this is a sad anniversary for you. I hope you can feel better with some good memories of him.
What a tough day. I hope you can smile, too, through the pain. Sending you love.
My own experiences with mourning suggest it can ebb and flow as we go through different life events. I mourned the loss of my stepmother (who raised me) when I graduated from college, and again when I became a teacher, and again when I married. Each time, I wished she was there to celebrate with me. Same for each challenging time, when I wished she was there to support me. Somehow, I find it reassuring to think I don’t have to “get over it,” or assume it will always get better with time. Less pressure to try to convince myself I *should* feel a certain way.
Hugs to you!
Sending hugs She-ra. ❤
Hugs She-ra. I remember the first 5 years after my dad’s sudden passing were the worst. Be kind to yourself today.
Hugs to you She-Ra.
Yes, She-ra, this year makes all of my feelings more intense. Two years is not very long. The only thing is the tincture of time. Sending you hugs.
Hugs from me too, She-ra.
So sorry She-ra 🙁
We are twins all around today… I am also in Deauville, and also missing my dad whose birthday would have been last week.
Hugs to you too jepster❤
Sending you hugs, jepster.
Sending hugs, She-ra.
Another hot sticky day, wearing Copal Azur. I’m saving my big creamsicle fragrance Profumum Dulcis in Fundo for Friday. 🙂
How did I know you would have that ??
You do smell great today, maybe I will wear that tonight.
I’m continuing my orange theme in 24 Rue Faubourg.
Perfect.
SOTD is Haus of Gloi Ghost Puffs. The cooler days here are inspiring me to dig out some fall scents.
I was given a tip about creating a Creamsicle scent from someone at an estate sale who smelled great. She used a bottle of Mountain Ocean Coconut Skin Trip lotion (8 oz) and added 10 drops of orange fragrance oil to it.You could use a smaller amount of the lotion with an equivalent amount of fragrance oil to see if you liked it.I personally have not tried it yet.
Oh interesting! So I wonder if I could add a few drops of Sweet Orange to my Bronze Goddess cream.
Had a bit of an epic yesterday …. More epic in imagination than reality as I was up in Auckland when it was announced it was going into lockdown due to 4 cases of community spread coronavirus ( we had been free of community spread for 100 days, with the only cases in govt. run isolation facilities). People who live outside Auckland were allowed to travel home…provided they could get tickets, transport etc. i suspect lockdown will be extended so it was a pretty sombre mood . I managed to get a flight home…not so difficult in reality as all the business travellers had cancelled…but you know how it goes when you start thinking about how long it would take to walk 1800km , and whether it would be terrible to do so or perhaps just great “material” that should be embraced as an adventure. The nicest part was arriving at our airport which is situated admidst dairy farms and paddocks. As the plane taxied off the runway to the terminal I looked out of the window and watched a calf being born. Plopped out and was guvena nice licking from its mother. Funny old life. Tried Rozu while in auckland, wonderful leafy rose and cinnamon opening but then bleeds out to a kind of weleda rose body spray. Heavy rain here, 2 dogs, and copper to celebrate….and a face mask!!!
I was very sorry to hear the news from New Zealand yesterday! I admit, I’ve been looking to that part of the world for inspiration as we all try to navigate during The Pause. Still, 4 new cases is better than the 300-400 a day in my state at the moment.
I think most people here have been watchful, waiting for a second wave of cases especially after following the situation in Melbourne. I am sure theee will be more cases of community spread
Once, I had a panic attack at the airport and had to seriously consider what it would be like to just live there, instead of getting on the plane.
I’m glad you were able to fly home.
I can understand that. Airports tend to make me anxious, but so does flying. And submarines….ugh.
Curious to know how you overcame it?
Goshdarnit. I hope it’s isolated but worrisome that it was the whole family.
Glad you made it home safely!
Good to hear that you were able to get home safely!
Glad you made it home, and glad your country is despite everything managing to keep cases to an absolute minimum there!
I’m wearing DelRae Bois de Paradis today because I had to get out all of my DelRae bottles yesterday to find Amoureuse which was at the very back of the cupboard. Once I saw Bois de Paradis I could not put it away without wearing it. One of my desert island picks. I must say I needed a pick-me-up after someone on Facebook, on another person’s page, called me an ignorant, stupid racist for a comment I wrote there about Kamala Harris’s father. (I don’t think this is going to be political, Robin.) I referred to his job and some of his writing. The person also said I was no doubt too stupid to be able to understand a word he had written (Donald Harris). I replied in a very mature and gracious way about what I meant and asked him to reconsider his criticism. Our mutual friend has gotten in touch and is really mortified. It’s a truly upsetting situation because what I said was meant in a complimentary way. I have tried to brush it off as one of those trivial on-line spats with no real significance but it has made me feel upset and on edge. Thanks for letting me vent. So after my shower and perfume I went out to a very small inexpensive boutique I like and shopped and bought a new top, necklace, and earrings. That’ll show ’em, ha ha!
Horrible, ugh. I think it’s best to stand tall rather than cower in those situations, as you know the truth in what you wrote rather than the twisted version. Your post has encouraged me to look up Donald Harris’s writing so thank you for that. I will learn something new today because of you!
Me too. But still, ugh…what’s wrong with people.
Me three! I did not know anything about him.
Calypso, I’m so angry for you! I’ve insulted this person many ways in my head, on your behalf. I’m glad you treated yourself to some nice things.
Thank you to both of you. The combination of insults was pretty staggering really. Apparently my friend, the one whose page it was on, has now removed his posts.
I forgot to mention a nice thing. A Spanish professor friend of mine, though not a close one, has been posting about making jam this summer from his own fruit trees. He’s made his own labels and everything. He posted today about making some white peach jam with lavender and I put a “love’ and said it sounded fantastic, and he said he would send me a jar!! I can’t wait!! So the good balances out the bad, I hope/think.
I’m so sorry this happened, Calypso. Your friend did the right thing by removing his posts. I’m amazed at the trollish behavior of people! It looks like your day has improved considerably, though!
Sometimes it’s like the universe knows to throw you a peach-and-lavender flavored bone. That DOES sound amazing! Hope you manage to shake off the feelings that jerk created and enjoy the rest of the week!
“I’ve insulted this person many ways in my head, on your behalf.”
Awww – love this!!
I’m sorry this happened to you. I literally know how you feel albeit in a closed forum.
Yuck for having to deal with someone unloading on you like that. On the plus side, do the let know what that peach/lavender jam is like!
Wow, I garbled that last sentence. Should be “do let us know…”
No perfume but used some of that Method Creative Growth handsoap in the scent Marshmallow Fluff. Smells good.
Also, for a really good creamsicle treat, do try Summer Dreamsicle from Schwans, you won’t regret it. I am not really an ice cream person but went through a tub pretty quickly when I ordered one.
Stupid summer weather today. ? 4 hours of nearly continuous thunderstorms this afternoon. ⚡☔ The only saving grace was that we didn’t lose power from it. And to add to my irritation, Mr. Jalapeno was stomping around the house for a couple of hours looking for a couple of things he misplaced.
SOTD = back in Iris Nazarena. However, I think I need a heavier-duty “Keep Calm and Carry On” scent for tomorrow. This week has kinda been a PITA.
In my new creamsicle acquisition Orange Bitters by JM. I love sweet orange scents so I love this CP!
Oops sorry Jalepeno! Wrong place to post. I am sorry your week has been crummy!
No worries yasmina! ?
You were right about the weather. I ended up not going to the donation place but have 2 big bags of recycling so I am quite pleased. More to do of course.
I’m sorry that I was right about today’s weather. ?
Sorry you’re having a bad week, hang on and spray away.
Time to bring out more incense perfumes!
Sorry, Jalapeno 🙁 I hope things get better soon.
Well, this week’s gotta end sometime, right?
It kept threatening to storm all day, but no real storms–just crazy hot, humid weather….Yikes, I hate this time of year.
NWS issued so many alerts for my area this afternoon that it was ridiculous! I hope tomorrow isn’t more of the same.
Maybe an insence for tomorrow?
Yep! You read my mind!
I was so sure we would lose power that I went ahead and sulked in advance.
In my new creamsicle acquisition Orange Bitters by JM. I love sweet orange scents so I love this CP!
Oh yay! You finally got it!
Yes, it finally arrived!
That one had been re-issued, right?
It used to be a limited edition I think
Double-dipping again today…
I got a sample of Francesca Bianchi Sticky Fingers from the Indigo Perfumery Scented sampling program. I will be getting a bottle ?!

You’re on a roll with perfume(d) winners lately!
Does it not have the same base as the other’s?
Nope, which is why a bottle will be joining my collection soon. I have 20% off!
Ooh, mice. Glad you found a FB that works for you. And if you decide to split your bottle, I’m very interested. ?
No CP points in Be Layered’s Bleep Me.
Donated blood this afternoon! Nine months supplementing with Vitamin D has been helping moderate my previously uncivil shark week, and my hemoglobin levels were, for the first time ever, awesome!
AND Mr. Teebear had made sausage and fennel pasta while I was out so I could shovel down food once I got home. All in all, a great day.
I like your version of that perfume’s name better than the one the company gave it!
It’s too absurd to write it out otherwise ? I curse just as much as the next vulgarian – but for humor and emphasis!
