Hump Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
My vote for the most cheerful song about Covid-19: Mavis Staples with Jeff Tweedy, All In It Together. (You can listen below. If you buy the song, the proceeds go to My Block My Hood My City, a Chicago based non-profit helping seniors get access to the essentials needed to fight COVID-19.) I am pairing it with the likewise cheerful Osmanthus from Ormonde Jayne.
Reminder: 8/7 we're doing Playlist Friday, again...name a favorite song, and wear a perfume that fits the song. (We did this project twice in 2017.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Bonus track: The Band and The Staple Singers doing The Weight, way back when.
A PSA: we lost power yesterday morning, and right now the power company says we are not likely to get it back until tomorrow night. By pure chance we lucked into a deal on a small generator, so we are able to run a few appliances and charge the phones, but we have no internet access other than via phone hotspots. Posting is likely to be very light until our power is restored, and I will be slower than my usual slow at email and everything else.
Hope you get power back soon! We have a generator too, but fortunately haven’t needed to use it.
I have wanted a generator for YEARS…but since longer power outages had become a bit less frequent, and since they are hard to find during an outage, we never got one. It is (sort of) the luckiest thing that my husband found this one.
Ugh, so sorry Robin!
It’s ok, just an inconvenience! Being able to open the refrigerator is a nice luxury 🙂
And it’s happily not stinking hot today, so we are fine with the windows open.
Awful, so sorry to hear! I’m glad you have a generator to help bridge the gap.
Hope you get power back soon!
Sorry you lost power! I hope it comes back sooner than expected!
I hope you get your power on sooner than expected. A generator, although expensive, is extremely useful.
Hope you have power restored soon! This storm is a doozie!
Oh wow, sorry to read this! Hope you get power back soon!
How inconvenient! That’s a long time to be without power.
Bletch! Hope that those utility crews I saw earlier today are headed your way Robin. ??
Power back tonight around 9:30 or 10, so they were smart to say Thursday night, now we’re extra happy!
Hello all!
I’m in vintage Opium EdT today. I used a light hand but these days I want something I can smell through my mask.
My pairing song is from the inimitable Roisin Murphy, “Something More.” A slow-burning disco track that sounds like the last song before you take the train home. A bit strange for 8:51AM but her voice is so so compelling. Maybe bookmark it for after your dinner apertif. If you glimpse the cover, this dame could definitely rock Opium.
https://youtu.be/FAkj8KiHxjg
Stay safe everyone!
I loved this! Thanks!
I’m so glad! ?
You smell gorgeous! We’re twins, I’m in vintage Opium extrait today.
Oh. You smell am-AY-zing.
Lovely! I love the parfum as well.
Great pairing!
Thank you! I had fun.
You and LisaD smell wonderful. The party was long over when I discovered vintage Opium, through a vintage “bath silk” that I think lets me know What All The Fuss is About. 😉
Oooo bath still sounds heavenly, especially one rendolant of Opium.
Wednesday already?! I’m off this week and of course the days are flying by. The weather has been perfect though, so I won’t complain.
I’m in Lea and pairing it with Tom Petty’s You Got Lucky, because I was lucky enough to find a bottle on eBay after it had been discontinued.
I ordered decants of Bronze Goddess and Terracotta yesterday because I haven’t tried either of them on skin. I think I need a beachy scent in my summer rotation, although I do love TF’s Eau de Soleil Blanc and it comes in a travel spray.
Vacations go by way too quickly, don’t they?
Yes! Always.
What is Lea like?
It’s an almond forward scent, when it was on Luckyscent’s website they listed just almond, musc and vanilla as the notes. I find it pretty linear, but I really like it.
It used to be almost a cult favorite on MakeupAlley, many moons ago!
I think Lea and POTL were the most talked about fragrances on MUA back when I joined. I now have some POTL, but no Lea. I agree with madtowngirl that Lea is fairly linear and simple, but it was really enjoyable!
Yes! And there was tons of talk about a perfume oil that smelled like nag champa. Can’t remember the name, we’ll see if it comes to me.
Yes – I remember that and think I even sampled once. If I can think of it, I’ll post.
Was it Loree Rodkin Gothic II? (I think I was actually thinking of Monyette Paris, but the Loree Rodkin is an oil.)
Oh, I guess they are both oils! Anyway, I’ll stop posting about this now. ;D
That’s it, Monyette Paris! But you’re right that Gothic was popular too.
Bronze Goddess has really grown on me. I had a bottle a few years ago and ended up swapping it away because I rarely reached for it. Bought another bottle last year and have been wearing it regularly, in fact, to bed last night.
If you ever need more, just give me a shout!
I can recommend the Bronze Goddess! I have the eau fraîche, but am very curious about the edp. Haven’t seen a tester of it anywhere.
Fun! My fiance is taking a week off this week, too. I’m very envious 🙂 Enjoy!
I love beachy scents. Curious to see if you like either of those. I love both! Also love TF Eau de Soleil Blanc.
If you like BWFs, then there’s a good chance you will like Terracotta.
The pouring rain seems to have ceased, sun coming out now. Wearing Mitzah as the steam burns off.
We have sun too, although I understand just for today.
I’m finally participating in the weekly project with a very easy pairing, VC&A California Reverie and “California Dreamin'” by the Mamas and the Papas 🙂
Perfect! Whenever I wear that one, I always get that earworm!??
When I first heard that song as a young girl and first saw The Graduate as a young teen, I knew I would live here. Ironic how I ended up living blocks away from what was used for Mrs. Robinsons neighborhood in SoCal.
SOTD is Passage d’Enfer. Such a beauty, overlooked this year by me.
That is so cool!
Perfect!
Good morning NST! It’s another cool, beautiful, windows open day here. It was in the 50s overnight, my favorite sleeping weather, so I’ve decided to wear some vintage Coco today. My song pairing is People Will Say We’re in Love, sung by Ella Fitzgerald.
This is my perfect sleeping weather too.?
Great song!
That weather! Perfection!!?
We had that weather last night, too – Coco sounds like a great fit!
I am wearing Les Annees 25 BIS right now. Finished another candle last night and just started another. I did the math, if I burn 1 candle a week, I can get down to 15 candles by Candle Day and then stock up when BBW has their monster candle sale. Everyone is out of the house this morning and I am debating on using no 5 bath stuff or go with Feminite du Bois.
That is amazing Dawn, I take months or years to finish a candle.
When I realized how many candles I had, I realized that I had to start using them.
And then buy more? ???
Most of what I will be getting are Christmas gifts. Some going back into my collection.
When stores opened up, I went and bought 4 Crabtree & Evelyn candles that were on special at Homegoods, plus another two Nest Candles from Nordstrom’s Rack. During the complete shutdown I ordered two candles from Beauty Pie. And bought the Aerin X Williams Sonoma Candles.
I have only used up one of those THE ENTIRE SUMMER.
I think it’s gonna be a while before I need to buy anymore.
*clicks on to Anthorpologie anyways*
just go ahead and add the whole internet to your cart, it’s faster and less painful that way 😀 ask me how I know, hee hee
Ha!
Like taking off a bandage!
No 5 bath stuff sounds perfect for today. 😀
Candles are more of a fall or winter item for meal, with shorter days and cooler weather. Not that they really add heat to a room, but they’re great to combat the dark.
Thunked my decant of Berdoues Selva do Brazil very early this morning. I will not replace it. Post-shower I lavishly sprayed on Ormonde Jayne Ta’if for a day of work meetings.
Lots of trees down in my area thanks to Isaiah. One fell on top of the house in front of us and destroyed the roof completely. Similar situation in many houses around. I was expecting to take a long walk early in the morning, but I made it a short one because trees and branches on the sidewalks made it annoyed to walk. We lost power for a couple of hours, but we are back to normal. Otherwise, is a warm, sunny and beautiful day! ?
Oh dear! I see very little devastation in my neighborhood, although I understand there was terrible flooding very nearby.
We didn’t get much rain, half hour approximately and then the sun came out. However, the wind was very strong and lasted for hours. Cleaning is underway now.
I’m glad you weathered the storm alright!
Thank you! It wasn’t bad here compared to other areas.
Glad you are ok!
Thank you! ?
Isaias came thru my area earlier than expected, and was mostly gone by 1pm. But what a mess left behind!
Same here. It was gone quick. By 4pm it was very sunny. The winds stayed until 6pm approximately. Very messy outside though.
After several days out with a sinus infection, I am back at work wearing a perfume oil (since I didn’t think that I could take anything stronger). I chose Alkemia The First Dandelion, from one of their sample sets.
Glad you’re getting better!
Sinus infections are the worst! Glad you’re feeling better.
Sinus infections are the worst! Hope you feel better soon.
Oh how funny – Deva and I are channeling each other. 😀
Jinx! ?
Oof, glad the infection is over!
Yuck, sinus infections. No fun at all.
My package from Aftelier arrived yesterday, so this morning I’m happily sampling Lumiere (gorgeous fresh green rose) and simultaneously wallowing in Ancient Resins body oil. Tried the sample of Sepia last night and did NOT care for it, but will take Angela’s advice and give it a couple more tries before deciding finally to relegate it to the “reference scents” category. That sounds like I’ve already made up my mind, and I probably have. 🙂
Wow, Lumiere sounds gorgeous. Does it compare at all to Mohur or Sa Majeste la Rose? (I think of those both as fresh green roses.)
I love Ancient Resins. I wonder if I deserve a belated birthday present to myself; that would be a great candidate./
I’ve never sampled Mohur or Sa Majeste, so I’m not able to opine on that, but on Ancient Resins as a belated b’day gift I say go for it!
No SOTM, yet. Coffee and contemplating my morning run, if I ever get around to breakfast first.
Yesterday, we drove down to the beach for the first time since the start of The Pause. I grew up in a small beach town, so I knew some of the less-popular access points, and we were able to spend a few hours in the sand with few other people around. Traffic was definitely lighter than it would have been under normal conditions, but there were still lots of nonlocals at the more popular access points.
We had a picnic lunch and then visited Mom. Haven’t seen her face to face since the winter. She can be challenging, but it was ok. I wore Ambrosine for the day, and it’s cozy, saltiness was a good match for the sunny but not especially warm beachy weather.
“nonlocals” ?
My brother said you can tell the difference by who carries / uses an umbrella.
That’s a good Oregon rule, for sure. Folks born here rarely bother with an umbrella.
Growing up on the coast, there’s some other telltale signs–we know the water’s too cold for anything but the absolute hottest days. Maybe you wade, but you don’t swim. Besides, we have crazy surf. There’s evidence in how you dress, whether you bother to drive anywhere on the weekends, that sort of thing, too.
SOTD post run and post shower has ended up being BG body cream with the lightest mist of Slowdive on top. It smells yummy!
Best of luck with power, Robin.
Wearing Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche. Just finished my 4 mile walk (I have to appreciate every moment of gorgeous weather here – Seattle) and at my living room desk for work.
You smell great!
Thanks. As do you!
*raises a coffee toast to you in PDX*
It’s truly a beautiful day!
☕️!!
I was washing dishes yesterday morning and looking out the window over the sink at a huge patch of zinnias and saw a beautiful hummingbird flitting here and there. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen one in the wild and not around a feeder.
Tea is coffee, breakfast is sourdough toast with a soft boiled egg on top.
I’m in Shalimar Body Cream again today. It’s a multitasker and just so EASY. I like the edp, but don’t find it as wearable and enjoyable as the body cream.
I’m on my last stretch of work days here, and I will be so GLAD to be done. I’m really wanting to be completely irresponsible and rude and call off the next three days because I just could not sleep last night. My sleep schedule is all jacked up and the fact that I’m not doing ANYTHING that remotely resembles exercise, not even hiking, means I’m never really physically tired.
Feeling for the people in Beirut right now. Gadzooks, what a horrendous boom!
Forgot to add my perfume pairing!

Hummingbird feeders can make hummers seem like docile little backyard birds, but I once got buzzed by one at 13,000 feet in the Sierra wilderness. They’re badass!
Anything that can flap their wings THAT fast and move THAT quickly is certainly badass! It seems as though they are exempt from the laws of physics..?
My brother and sister-in-law have several hummingbird feeders. He captured (photo of) a hummingbird. I have to look for it.
You smell fab- I love body creams that match perfumes because they are so wearable and can give that soft aura that sometimes the perfume takes it’s sweet time getting to.
When DH and I are watching the hummers at the feeder, the new arrivals have regularly risen from the feeder and hovered in front of the window to watch us! They hover back and forth and up and down a few times to get a good look, then zzzizzz away. They are curious little creatures, and the way our window faces, I think they see us, not their own reflection.
It is a COLD grey morning, and I hit it out of the park with my perfume (in terms of fitting my mood)–Jasmin et Cigarette. Music? Why Squeeze’s Black Coffee in Bed, of course!
If you want to watch a movie video that will probably ruin this fabulous song for you— https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9QZhLSKEps
!!!Oy.
Jasmin et Cigarette lasts all of about ten minutes on me, but they’re an enjoyable ten minutes!
I’m past the 10 minute mark—that’s interesting. This one goes on a huge powerhouse when I apply it, and on me lasts probably 3 to 4 hours where I can still get wafting… If I over apply, the cigarette aspect is unpleasant–but at about four sprays is perfect.
Have no idea why I said “movie”, I meant music!
Love this song. Glenn Tilbrook is a total babe.?
Hello all, my SOTD is the glorious vintage Opium extrait, if I had to pair it with a song, it’s Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band – Cherchez La Femme.
It’s a little disco, Big Band, and a little Cha Cha Cha thrown in for good measure.
This song always makes me smile.
https://youtu.be/jrzxW0rsD1Q
Good luck tomorrow!
SOTD is Bronze Goddes eau fraîche that I couldn’t track in the mail but happened to be delivered at a neighbour’s house days ago. Thanks delivery person for not putting a note in my mailbox. Aarrgghgg. However, I smell dreamy and summery and think of the likewise Omar – There’s nothing like this.
Oh, so glad it worked out and you got it, though!
Thank you Robin! I think we can all write books about missing parcels, mess ups and waiting impatiently for perfumes to arrive.
I hope your power is back on! Makes you realize how much we depend on it doesn’t it?
Yes! Power back now, and it’s a luxury.
No. 19 EDP and winged eyeliner today, because working from home must not be an admission of defeat. 🙂
My favorite!
No 19 edp is wonderful.
No 19 practically demands eyeliner! 😀 you smell beautiful.
I had just one al fresco backyard piano lesson to teach this morning. To get ready I did my hair and makeup, also wore “teacher clothes” and real shoes. Gotta draw the line somewhere 😉
Good for you that eyeliner!! Be fabulous at home 🙂
Spending my Wednesday wearing Parfum d’Empire Le Cri.
Starting tomorrow we’re expecting temperatures to start reaching 27-30*C so I’m likely to wear something more fresh and citrusy in the heat.
As long as you’re not “fresh”, that sounds like a plan ?
Trying some more of my MFK APOM pour Femme decant and yeah, the open is unfortunately abrasive… at least I like it better once that’s faded a bit, but this definitely won’t be a scent I need more of once it’s done.
I was rewarded for patience by the last two Ataulfo mangoes I bought last week finally hitting peak ripeness… That glorious moment when they have a very slightly powdery, sweet nutritional pollen taste that balances the tartness, but haven’t yet gone mushy. What a great post-workout treat!
Hope everyone else has a similar moment of simple happiness today! And that your power comes back on, Robin!
Those mangoes are definitely one of the best things in the whole world! Now, I’m wondering if there is a comparable mango-scented perfume?
Swoons over perfect mango! I’ve had quite a few this summer, and some excellent black cherries.
Mangoes make a wonderful sorbet! So decadent…
Wednesday!
1) SOTD is a combo: The Organic Pharmacy’s Rose Jasmine body oil, topped off with Petals fragrance from BeautyPie. Perfect for this beautiful sunny day.
2) Okay, okay- I am gonna order wallpaper for my bedroom (just a feature wall and am very excited!
Nah, friend, I can’t afford Fortuny papers ( I wish I could!) BUT I can afford stuff from Wayfair. So far, it is now down to THREE patterns, all with blue backgrounds and floral patterns.
I keep wanting to buy something from Wayfair but I need to downsize first.
Weirdly (and horribly) this has been the time for me to draw my breath and do the chucking out that needed to be done, in addition to the garden puttering.
I got help from lovely Petunia, it may still require some try an error but I’m trying to share Kansa Dust in the Wind and the matching perfume is Dune.
https://youtu.be/tH2w6Oxx0kQ
Perfect! I have loved that song (and the band) since forever. The vocals, the harmonies, the lyrics, the musicianship, the clothes, the hair…perfecto! And, for an added dash of style, my hair is almost exactly like the violin dudes, except gray! ?
So glad you enjoyed it, I agree, it’s a gem, ? for the hair, I bet you look great.
Great match Aurora!
I only know how to link videos, anything else I am lost.
Thank you, Lillyjo, I always like it when you post a video too. I’m quite hopeless but Petunia is a great teacher.
Maybe she can teach me how to attach something to an email!?
Excellent match!
Glad you like it.
Robin, I hope your power comes back soon! We lost power yesterday for almost 5 hours. I did not date open the refrigerator so ended up having an almond butter sandwich for lunch. I was plotting on what to pull out of the refrigerator in < 30 seconds and had it almost nailed (just the plotting part) when the power came back – yay! I learned a few things which I will document at some point!
SOTD = Bruno Fazzolari Five
I chose this because my Scentbridge partner, lillyjo, mentioned liking it and it fit my perfume with a number theme for this week. It is an uplifting citrus, leaning masculine ?. BTW, my spellcheck treats “lillyjo” as spelled correctly – smart phone!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CDg9tQfhPK-/?igshid=tisxv2zhjzbv
Back to work. I do have time off this Friday through Wednesday next week. Not going anywhere but will likely finally have my long overdue haircut and to get my car serviced, among other things.
Yay! You smell great!
Glad your power is back!
Me too!
I ate dry granola for lunch yesterday! I swear when the power went out, I had just filled a cooler with ice and was thinking about what to take out of the fridge before the wind started. Ha. Power went out, never saw any wind to speak of.
Now I am obsessing over having decent nutritionally-balanced shelf stable food that doesn’t require any refrigeration or heating and not from a can.
We have a gas stove, we can cook lots of stuff! but the minute the power goes out I want a salad, ha.
Glad to hear that tree missed your property! I was surprised at the lack of downed trees in my area. Some road closures to due flooding, though.
I went for my walk after work and saw another downed tree and a place where a live wire was still on the ground (it has traffic cones around it and a police car with lights on guarding it.
SOTD is IA Every Storm A Serenade.I keep forgetting about this scent in the summet, but it is perfect.
Perfect!
Santa Maria Novella Fresia
Never smelled that one, is it good?
Sotd is 24 Faubourg. I concider this my “all dressed up and no place to go” perfume. I’m matching it with Joe Jackson Stepping Out.
https://youtu.be/PJwt2dxx9yg
I’m not sure how my son did with his interview because he didn’t give me much feedback and I haven’t talked to the manager yet.
You smell wonderful! I sprayed myself silly while at the SFO airport the last time I was anywhere.
Sending good wishes for your son on his job search!
It’s one of the few perfumes that make me feel like I need to be dressed up, which I never am!
Joe Jackson! Stepping Out! Great choices.
Thanks!
I have Joe Jackson playing right now, live version of Real Men.
It took me awhile to appreciate him. I think he’s great now.
Great choice, Joe Jackson, how it takes me back! 24 Faubourg is too much elegance for me, my bottle never gets used.
It definitely calls for an occasion.
I don’t know if you heard, but Joe Jackson released new music earlier this year, lillyjo. Good stuff.
I did not hear. Will have to check it out.
Yesterday, I was feeling anxious about lost power and hand-bailing water out of our sump pit, but after seeing aerial photos of much of my town, I am feeling lucky to have had such minimal inconvenience.
Nonetheless, I’m in the calm of Philosykos edp today, and I have no idea what song would match it. It’s coming through more floral today, which I love.
Same here…I really have nothing to complain about.
nothing to complain about, that’s a great way to be!
glad you are ok, irisjasmine! I lived in the northeast US for many years, I remember vividly how anxious the weather damage could make me feel. Hope your day goes ok, you smell beautiful in Philosykos.
You are so kind. A much better day today for sure!
Glad to hear that you are OK!
SotD = Lubin Kismet
so pretty! Kismet makes me think of Shalimar, but without the smoke and animalic growl.
So of course I’m thinking of the play and movie called Kismet, and the song Stranger in Paradise. 😀
You smell great…love Kismet. Reminds me of Shalimar Light in many ways…citrus, patchouli and vanilla.
thank u, She-ra. Kismet has a very pretty vanilla note 😀
SOTD=Tauer’s Orange Star. I love the sparkly opening, but now 6 hours later it is a mild version of the Tauer-ade drydown, sweetish woods and not much else on my skin. I’ll go rummage around in my sample box and see what I can top it off with for the rest of the day. I got 7 or 9 of various Orange/Orange Blossom/Neroli samples, but none of them have proven to be the OB of my dreams… this is nice, but if I were going to buy a Tauer Bottle I would probably go for LADDM, or Maroc pour Elle, or many Noontide Petals… and, I get no song with this, no song at all.
I like the first 30 minutes of Orange Star, but not the rest of it. Sometimes I spritz a little just to check and see if that’s still how I feel. Wish the juicy orange would linger longer!
You’re in good company. A bunch of is are struggling with the CP so as of now, I am wearing perfumes with a number in the name.
Wearing Bulgari blue tea, yes, again. Eating a light lunch, because am meeting someone for my first happy hour since The Interim started and plan to graze and sip from the mid-afternoon onwards…
Grazing and sipping sounds lovely! Have a wonderful afternoon!
Rose de Petra from Stephen Humbert Lucas 777 today, I’m in the mood for a bit of luxury.
Yay for some luxury 🙂
?????
Almost …
I just heard that my Remote Working status was almost coming to an end. The first thing I thought of was WTF? The universe heard me scream!!!
?????
Crisis averted for now…
??
Hope you’re able to maintain working conditions as you need them!
I hope so too. NJTransit continues to be worse than worst.
I hope you get to wfh as long as you want.
Keeping fingers, eyes and toes crossed!
Yeah seems like a lot of headaches, HR issues and legal exposure for companies to have workers go back to the office who have been remote during the quarantine and can do all their job functions remotely…
It was kind of strange because I was tagged as being the last group so not sure why it changed. The potential lawsuits…well, legal counsel teams have been very busy and examining every policy related to this.
I hope that your company sees reason and that your WFH continues for a while. Mr. Jalapeno found out that he is working from home until January 2021 today.
Me too. My boss and one other U.S. colleague used to work from home a lot pre-COVID so I am in good company ?.
Wearing Hiram Green Arbole Arbole from a sample today and regretting it. Not as green as I hoped and the patch kills me. It makes me think of Joni Mitchell’s Blue, a sad song. Although I love Mitchell’s work, her voice and sense of timing, the Blue backstory is sad in a vintage late 60s-70s way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5782PQO5is
AA did not work for me either.
I don’t know why Blue, the whole album, never really spoke to me. Everyone says it’s one of the best albums ever made. I should sit and listen to it again and see if I get it.
La Panthere for me today and still no song pairing. I really need to get it together haha.
A song for you KellyC!
https://youtu.be/HhHwnrlZRus
Yessss I love this!
Or maybe this one?
https://youtu.be/cqZc7ZQURMs
Yes! Can you just pick my songs all week? 😀
Sonoma Scent Studio Jour Ensolleille as I traveled down to drop some paperwork off at our accountant’s. Always look forward to my chats with Henry…22 years now. One of my favorite people. I walked partway, just enjoying the sun and heat that felt less humid than usual. We are dining with friends this evening at a local seafood place. Belated birthday dinner for my husband.
I’m pairing this scent with Cat Stevens’ Peace Train (using his old name, since it’s an old song). Only because I found an entertaining video version of people in Sonoma performing the song. It’s very Sonoma, which made me smile.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwg7EnzSiaE
(And thanks again to all your kind thoughts yesterday…this is a pet-loving site!)
.
I hope you had a nice dinner!
I’m wearing a Hermes that I can’t remember buying but I think I got it in a split here. It’s Amber Narguile. Found it mixed in with my makeup drawer, and thought, “hmm, what’s this?” so I sprayed it on. Very nice and spicy but perhaps not the best for a hot August day in Houston!
I’m on a liquid menu today, having made a big treat of banana-strawberry-and goat milk smoothie for breakfast and now eating the truly delicious watermelon gazpacho that I made last night from a new recipe. It’s equal parts watermelon and tomatoes and I was daring and included an entire diced jalapeño in it too. Yum yum, all the better today after being chilled all night.
We are supposed to have a Zoom meeting with Mom in 15 minutes; there was a screw-up over the plans for one on Sunday, and I’m really looking forward to this!
Hopefully your Zoom meeting went off without a hitch today.
Saw the pic on IG. She looked lively!
Hello NST! I was in the same predicament as Robin yesterday… no power. The county I am in was apparently one of the hardest hit in southern NJ. But after 16 hours, things came back up at 3-something this morning. That’s almost as long as the outage from Superstorm Sandy back in 2012.
Song of the day: https://youtu.be/GVFgEBq0EKM
SOTD = commando, with some fatigue and perspiration. I had a vet appointment for Teflon kitty this morning, after a night of bad sleep. On the plus side, I saw about 14 out of state utility trucks driving along a state highway, headed for their next destination. Muchas gracias for the help!
Great song!
God bless the out of state utility workers! We get the extra help mostly in the winter from the southern states, and I’m so thankful.
At least half a dozen of those trucks were from the same utility in Texas. I was very happy to see them.
Glad your power came back on!
Thanks! I hope that everyone else gets their power back ASAP.
I have to think through what I learned during an almost 5 hour outage. Glad your power is back on!
I just read that parts of Jersey might not get power back til the weekend? Glad you got yours back so quickly!
Late today in BFMV oil and EDP and wishing speedy recovery for those affected by the storm…glad some of you had minimal damage and power is restored already. I grew up in CT and don’t miss tropical storms and hurricanes.
Which version do you prefer?
The EDP…I love to spray and I think for this fragrance in particular the EDP performs better.
That said, today is the first time I am wearing the oil and EDP together and it seems to be packing an extra punch. ehaeheh 😉
Do you like BFMV? What are your favorite Dames please?
Overzealous to post 😉 but a lovely NSTer also sent me a sample of the body cream and I haven’t tried it but will of course be free w/ my thoughts here when I do. 🙂 From a sniff, I get more citrus from the cream.
I like BFMV very much. I’ve only tried it in spray form. I also like Dark Horse. The Peach blossom one, and the tuberose soliflore.
I really like Minty Man, Earth Mother and the peach blossom one too. I have a sample of Dark Horse and will need to try it again too. I may be tempted to get a FB of BFMV too but I do have many vanillas…?

Posting again to you…b/c I posted to myself.??♀️
I just discovered a few more Dames. I like BFMV and Dark Horse, too, and I’d add the ginger lily soliflore. Do you have any other faves?
Was just replying to lillyjo above so I copied and pasted below for ease but don’t think me rude. 😉 There are a few other Dame ones I’d like to try too.
