Late again, and Monday again! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Versace Versense.
Reminder: on 7/31, we're doing best of summer...wear the perfume you're reaching for the most this summer. (If it's winter where you are, wear the perfume you're reaching for the most this winter.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is J Lo for Versace Spring Summer 2020.
Versense is so green and fresh! And you matched the pic perfectly, Robin.
I am in Mugler Cologne.
We are cousins, really — they don’t smell the same but they’re in the same fresh green class.
Hi cousin! And even the colour of juice is green in both cases.
I’m wearing Champ de Baies, from a new decant.
Pretty sure that is one I never managed to smell, but I will imagine that you smell great 🙂
Good Monday all!
It will be hot today so some Paris Venise on arms and Biarritz on feet.
love that you have a scent for your feet
It wafts up during the day.
Remnants of LL Lys 41 from yesterday.
Going hard core anti-heat with Aqua di Colonia soon.
I don’t mind the temperature, as long as the sun is out. My mood is align with the sun, if she makes an appearance it can be bitter cold and I will still be happy or the opposite, very hot and I am still happy
Yep. always.
I am a lizard, give me a rock, but after a long bike ride I was cooked yesterday. I think it’s really the dew point that can make one feel uncomfortable.
I agree! Stay cool, and you will smell great in Aqua di Colonia
Thank you Ltsg as you do too in a glorious soft puff cloud of Shalimar!
My sis always says she is a lizard, too!
While I hide under the umbrella with my hat and 100spf on.
You are nice to donate your sun rays to her!
She also went biking in the heat and rain of Florida yesterday. what is that all about?
Same. We are sun loving twins.?
Triplets!
?❣️
Ciao a tutti (hello everyone)
I am in Shalimar lotion (of course) I only waited a forever to receive it.
It came with the EDP that was also on sale (enabler pin goes to someone on NST) I think Shalimar can go on my best of summer list. I will spray enough of the EdP when I go out to make sure people keep their distance 😉
Tomorrow it will be Songes, my other great love.
Sipping French press coffee, yogurt with fresh figs, apricots and Italian plums for breakfast drizzled with honey. Stay cool everyone.
I really want your breakfast. But I have oats and local blueberries, which is not bad.
Ciao, bella! You smell amazing! I LOVE Shalimar in the sun, the stronger the better (and convenient as a social distancing reminder)!
I love figs, soon my tree will have some ripe ones too.
whaaatt! I am jealous , fresh figs from a tree..passing you my plate
Excellent scent, excellent breakfast! You smell great!
Wearing Opium from a mini that I found at a garage sale. I don’t know it’s age or concentration but it smells great. Supposed to get big storms from a cold front that should be providing some relief from the oppressive swampy heat today, bring it on!
Nice find!
2nd that!
Thirding!
I’ll be working around a bunch of chainsaws today, so I’m wearing Fracas. Just kidding; I’m in a few splashes of SMN Caprifoglio, my go-to smell-like-heaven-without-being-obtrusive scent.
this is so funny, Dawn.
Excellent 🙂
Forgive me, Donnatella for I have sinned. I bought the BBW Country Apple spray mist. It was $5, and that is free in perfumeland. Woke up in vintage Shalimar extrait. Will be wearing Kyoto at work then Theorema for tonight. We have storms that will be rolling through this afternoon and hopefully the power doesn’t go out.
Dear Dawn, we woke up the same. I put a few drops of the parfum last night before bed and woke up to it still going strong. Its potent stuff. But I had the most peaceful sleep.
Donatella forgives, and that is perfume for free…so does even count?
Don’t think it really counts.
I’m twinning with lovestosmellgood in Shalimar Body Creme, which is just delicious!
I have some errands to run, which I don’t want to do. Trying to avoid both the heat and covid is just wearing me out! ?
At my MD appointment, I was in the lab section getting bloodwork drawn and in walks a guy with his mask on his bald head. I really had to bite my tongue to keep from explaining the US situation to him, and thank him for his contribution of potentially pathogen filled exhalations. People just blow my freakin’ mind. ?
hey twin, we smell good, don’t we. Love!
It is wonderful! The texture is the best, and the fragrance lasts all day on me. I’m glad you finally got yours and feel it was worth the wait. Maybe you need a BUJ? (Back Up Jar)?
I do..but me thinks I should order from Walmart this time around?
You see those signs in all buses and trains here in NY. Still people don’t pay attention to it. I took a bus late this morning to run a quick errand and I was shocked to see people not wearing masks or wearing them the wrong way. Unfortunately, that attitude will never change.
Oops, sorry, the comment was for madtowgirl!
Good one, Deva!
I see that all the time. They actually have signs now when I enter work showing people the correct way to wear a mask, with examples of incorrect ways, lol.?
People are blowing my mind with this whole mask thing. I hate wearing a mask. We have a mandate in Ohio. People are screaming about HIPAA and the disability laws but they don’t apply to mask wearing. Besides, I don’t want to spread Covid nor get it.
We have a mask mandate in Oregon right now, and I have found that my PTSD is triggered by wearing one. My solution is to wear one around my neck and pull it up when I’m near others. It’s a bit distressing, but not nearly as bad as wearing it constantly. So, that is my compromise with my “disability.”
Would a face shield be better for you? I know that I am required to wear either a face mask or shield.
I have some, and yes, they are better (not perfect) for me. Unfortunately, I’m not convinced they do as much good–for me or for the people around me. I wear one when I need an extended “face covering” and keep the mask for incidental interactions.
I don’t have PTSD, but I do have anxiety and claustrophobia and the mask triggers me too. You have my sympathies.
Thank you, and I’m sorry for your discomfort, as well!
Oh you smell amazing!
And don’t waste your breath on that person.
I find that running just a few errands in a day tires me out, partly from the stress, I’m sure. I needed to get blood drawn at a lab today, too, but at least the patients that I saw in the medical center were all wearing masks properly. I was there last Thursday, too, for a mammogram, the first time I’d been there in a long time. The medical center seems much better controlled about compliance to Pennsylvania’s pandemic laws than the grocery stores around here are.
I had a couple of errands to do also, and after that, I was pooped!
Gardenia Batik for me today, which is one of my favorite summer scents
I’m in Chanel 19 vintage EDC for a very hot (for Seattle) day that’s going to reach about 90. Still gorgeous, but I better get out for a walk soon.
Back at work after another week long furlough which I thoroughly enjoyed. I don’t want to make light of it because I know the furloughs are difficult for many. But I always love time off — let’s just say I think I’ll be very good at retirement. 😀
I always love time off too, currently on an 8 day staycation.?
Love no 19! It’s wonderful for a hot day.
Twins! Hot day for us in Portland, too. Even warmer than Seattle, I think. I don’t think it dropped below 70 last night.
Hi neighbor! I can handle hot days as long as it cools off at night… Finally summer here so I’m trying not to complain.
Yes, it was a long, wet spring, wasn’t it?!
Today’s photo looks like it could have come straight out of “Avatar”. SOTD is 24 Faubourg.
Yes, I thought that picture looked like it was out of some science fiction movie. 🙂
I assume that was the idea…whole campaign is in that same aesthetic.
Very “Cyberpunk” vibe to that picture.
I’m running late today too due to insomnia overnight and then sleeping later than I usually do. Oh well, I really have nothing that I have to do today so I guess it’s okay.
After my shower I will put on some Guerlain AA Nerolia Bianca which was sent to me by a generous NSTer. She sent VCA’s Neroli too but I actually prefer the Guerlain which is nice because it’s cheap as chips, as they say, on the discount sites.
I haven’t tried any of the AA from Guerlain except Limon Verde which wasn’t for me
Suprisingly the Limon Verde worked for me as a summer spritzer.
Good!
Is there any from this line that is a must try?
I would say Herba Fresca is a must try. It was my signature scent from 1999 – 2001. Gorgeous!
The Pamplelune is a refreshing grapefruit and a lot of people like the Mandarine Basilic
Big fan of Mandarine Basilic. I almost listed it as #1 on the weekend poll.
Very excited to be trying Dame BFMV EDP today from a generous NSTer. ♥️?
So far it has better sillage (unsurprisingly) than the oil and seems like more citrus and nutmeg at least in the opening….will see how it unfolds…
Yay! I thought it was gorgeous, just not on my skin. (It amplifies vanilla to a ridiculous level.).
Good to know that the oil and the EdP of BFMV are not the same.
Another super hot and busy day.
Wearing Parfum D’Empire Corsica Furiosa for a day that will feel in the 100’s ?.
Stay cool and hydrated, everyone!
You smell outstanding! I have a huge love for that scent and I never get tired of it. Start to finish, I love every minute. ?
Thank you, Deva! I LOVE❤ Corsica Furiosa! My favorite green scent. I just came from outside and it is amazing how beautifully it cuts thru heat and humidity. A big winner!
You smell SO LOVELY!
Thank you! ?
I am resisting soooo strongly the desire to purchase this one. Daily care of my tomato plants is really not helping. I know I will cave eventually.
Now is even more affordable to get it, because it comes in 50ml. The bottle and juice looks different than the original 100ml, which is not sold anymore. I hope there was no reformulation involved.
Ack! I had no idea it had changed..? (The color I mean). I knew they offered 50ml bottles, and I’m trying hard to resist because there are several in this line that I lurves a LOT! Looking at you, Cuir Ottoman. I hope they haven’t reformulated CF, but if they did, it makes me feels better about getting the 100ml, which was all that was offered at the time…
I agree! I don’t regret getting the 100ml, despite not feeling so happy about the size at that time. At least, I can spray lavishly now!
where is the 50ml bottle? I want to try this buy this but couldn’t find smaller size.
LuckyScent has it.
Ikr I was wondering that exact same thing.
I need someone who’s sniffed both to tell me. I think my decant is the original version.
Hope that you were able to stay cool and hydrated, too! It was really unpleasant outside today.
SOTD: Cuir d’Ange
To help with the Monday blues I’ve decided to make cake today, a cornmeal lemon cake! I really enjoy the texture and flavor of cornmeal so this should be tasty. Also painted my nails in Essie’s Clambake, a favorite summer red. Be gone, blues!
Cornmeal lemon cake sounds good! Is it like a lemon drizzle, for some added moisture? I’m trying to imagine the texture of cornmeal in cake (and then vicariously enjoy a slice!).
Lemon drizzle for sure!
As I always do with my baked goods this will be shared with our neighbors as two people can, but should not, eat a whole cake by themselves 😉
Sounds wonderful!
Yes, this is what keeps me from baking more often. I would happily make a cake every 4 days or so, if I could readily share 3/4 of it with others!
I cooked my cake recently in two 8×8 pans to be able to freeze one for future use. Happy to share with neighbors, except our floor has taken off to parts unknown…
And that sounds delicious, by the way.
Can you believe our entire floor of 5 apts (including ours) has stayed through the past 4 months? Like you, many in our building left the city and even 20 apartments are now officially vacant, which is a lot.
Good idea on freezing!
I made a 9 x 13 pan of blackberry crumble the other day. I gave more than half away to neighbors and a friend. I just made it big on purpose so I could share. Blackberries were on sale. I turned out yummy!
I am actually salivating at that description. ☺️
Anything lemon-y and densely moist sounds like a winner and I can just see the beautiful color of the two with the gold cornmeal, YUM!
Great baking plan. I love cornmeal in cakes. Let us know how it turns out!
Oh wow! Your cake sounds delicious 🙂
Your cake sounds yummy! Baking cheers me up too.
Cornmeal cakes are really yummy. I love the subtle crunch from the cornmeal. Blueberries are also good with cornmeal and lemon.
Like others, I’ve been scaling my cake and cookie recipes down by half, and freezing cookie dough, which helps….a little bit.
I sometimes freeze slices of cake, but truth be told, I like frozen cake pretty good, too!
Link to recipe?

Made it exactly and really delicious!
Thank you!
That cake sounds so yummy!
I’m on Annick Goutal’s mailing list & had one from them the other day saying they are closing their online store in the US. Made me wonder if they’re pulling out of the US altogether, so would be interested to hear from anyone that has any info about that possibility. When my husband & I were visiting our friends near The Woodlands, Texas in 1997 (my husband’s first visit to them, I met Kathy during a business trip in 1993 – we worked for the same company, she in their Houston office, me in their Aberdeen, Scotland location – we spoke almost daily on business related subjects – this was before email! – & got on very well so we were both delighted when we hit it off in person too, & our friendship endures to this day) we had a few days on our own visiting Dallas, Austin & San Antonio. Whilst in Dallas of course I had to go to the original Neiman Marcus store, & AG had just launched in the US, so there was a promotion where if you bought a bottle you were able to choose a second one for half price, though the half price one was only available in a very limited selection of their fragrances. I had already been wearing Eau de Camille (much loved, much missed) for some time, so naturally I bought another bottle, then chose Eau d’Hadrien for my half price one. I seem to remember AG was only available in NM, Saks, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman & possibly Barneys, so depending on where I was in the US on various trips it wasn’t always possible to make a purchase, to my unending disappointment!
what! Tell me this isn’t true
Reading the email now.
Yes its true..
wow
🙁
AG Nuit Etoilee is one of my favorite scents.
Such sad news! Such a classy brand run by classy, French women and men. Every time I visited, whether UEW or the west village where they had another store, I was the only customer. I never saw anyone else shopping and I sometimes wondered if they were going to last in NYC.
I am not surprised. But don’t forget they were sold here long before they had a US website!
Oh, that’s a pity. My hair stylist’s signature perfume is Petite Cherie. I hope she has enough of it…
I am sad to report my big, red dog is no more. We rescued each other in 2007 and this lovely chow/shepherd/lab mix was a constant and loyal companion to every member of my family and our small pack of rescues. Sheba died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday under her favorite Bonsai bench, a cool and sheltering spot. I am still walking out in the backyard and talking to that place where she so often was, and crying and hoping to feel one more brush of her curly tail and a nudge from a wet nose. We are bereft. No perfume for me today.
I’m so sorry, sk. Sending you a hug and a brownie!
SK, you brought tears to my eyes. We were in the same place last June, mourning our beloved golden retriever. I still miss her, but time has eased the knot in my stomach and my broken heart. Sending you tons of hugs. Your lovely pet died much loved and peacefully in her favorite spot and I can only hope the same will happen for me someday.
I am so, so sorry to hear about your beloved dog. Sending you hugs and peace.
I am so sorry! Hugs!
Very sorry about your loss, stinker_kit.
Oh, so sorry! ?
I am very sorry.
Please accept my condolences on the loss of Sheba. Some of the nicest dogs I’ve ever met have been big red ones. I’m so sorry for you and yours.
That’s so hard to lose a pet. All my sympathy and a hug.
So sorry for your loss.!! 13 years is an amazing adventure together and I’m sure she knew she was very much loved. I hope with time that the many good memories you made together can become comforting. Hugs.
So sorry for you
Oh, I am so sorry. Your pup sounded like an amazing being.
I’m so very sorry.
Oh I am SO sorry stinker_kit. This is very difficult and I am sending you a big hug. If it helps I really do know how you feel. My heart is sad for you.
I’m so very sorry. She was loved. Which makes me smile.
I am so, so sorry. The loss of a beloved pet is devastating. Big hugs to you.
Oh. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Biggest hugs.
I’m sorry to read this.
I’m so sorry you lost your sweet Sheba. I’ve lit a candle in her memory and am sending you hugs.
Sorry about your loss – it sounds like she had a lovely life with you!
I am so sorry to hear about this, stinker_kit. My sympathies.
Oh, dear.. sounds like a very great loss. I’m sorry.
Oh, very sad. I’m sorry.
I’m so sorry.
Oh, that’s so very sad. I’m glad she passed peacefully. You have my sympathy.
Oh dear, adding more sympathy and hugs stinker_kit. It is at least a small blessing that she died peacefully in her sleep, but I imagine that is not much consolation right now.
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words and gestures. It means more than I can possibly express. I am very grateful to be part of this community.
I’m so sorry to hear about your beloved doggie. It sounds like she had a wonderful life with you. Sending hugs!
SOTM is vintage No. 19 (green juice, not yellow), after all the comments about it over the weekend!
In about half an hour, I have an appointment at the cemetery down the road. Gonna find out if there’s a cremains plot for Mr. Spicebomb and myself for when we need them 60 years from now. 😉
We live practically next to one of the two oldest cemeteries in Portland, and I love it there–huge, old trees, proper old grave markers, a few mausoleums with stained glass. It’s an amazing, magical place. I was very excited to learn they have a little memorial garden in the center that’s still available for purchase.
And it’s the sort of business I like to have done and decided.
You smell great! And good on you for NOT leaving this for grieving relatives to sort out!
stay hydrated!
Thanks. Yes, I know it’s sorta uncommon to be deciding these things when there’s no particular concern. However, I have seen how life can throw us challenges at any time, and it is not fun to try to glean a loved-one’s wishes after they are gone. I mean for it to be a gift for someone who loves me sometime in the future.
You’re very smart. Death can come at any moment, very thoughtful to be prepared.
Thanks. I’m definitely in the “always be prepared” camp. Mr. Spicebomb and I are also looking into having the house earthquake retrofitted so we’d qualify for earthquake insurance. I guess we’re both in the “sh*t happens, so plan ahead for it” mindset these days! Can’t imagine why. ?
I’m with you in the “hope for the best but prepare for the worst” attitude. However, after I kick it, I hope I keel over where a bear or some other wild animals can make good use of me. I’ve takes a lot from the earth in 55 years, so I’d feel better giving back. Just like the ending Brad Pitt has in Legends of the Fall, which is the movie rendition of a short story by the same name by one of my favorite writer/poets Jim Harrison.
I’d be with you, except I want a small stone somewhere with my name on it, so people who miss me have a place to go. I’ve lost two immediate family members, and there’s no official memorial for either of them. It saddens me to not have those spots for them.
But if the stone was there and the rest of me was passing my energy and matter on to a bear, I’d be cool with that!
I love old cemeteries. Hope they had what you wanted!
Thanks, Robin! Looks like we have some options, although the lady did say that they’ve “had an increase in inquiries lately.”
I’m glad that my brother and I prepaid for our mom’s funeral last year. One less thing to worry about.
Chanel No 19 Poudre is my SOTD and I am drinking a cup of jasmine green tea.
You are wafting gorgeousness!
Thank you AngelaB !
Perfect tea for summer!
I woke up to Jefferson Starship in my head this morning, “We Built This City.” Trying to dislodge it with some Bob Seger.
After this weekend’s questions, I finally caved and bought a bottle of Infusion d’Iris Absolue off ebay. Life is short, right? SOTD is many sprays of Mandarine Basilic for the 100F temps coming later today. Yesterday it was 105 on my patio.
105..ouch
Oh my. 105F.- That’s a lot!
We are getting to 99F-100F today and oof!
So grateful I don’t have a thermometer in the back yard to tell me the temperature! “Pretty darned hot” is precise enough for me. ?
Must be global warming, I don’t remember Portland being that hot when I was young.
Every summer gets days like that now. You’re right, it’s a change from when we were younger. ?
One summer, back in the day when my family went to Portland for vacation, temps were in the 100’s the whole time. The locals were shaking their heads and saying that it was “mighty strange” weather.
So weird – that song was in my head when I woke up today!
Ok that is VERY strange. Now I will hum Wavelength for a bit, which will also keep me from getting We Built This City stuck in my head.
This heat is ridiculous! I read that it was >90F north of the arctic circle for 3 straight days. The planet may implode at any time, so I’m glad you got something you wanted and will enjoy until we all become space dust…?
Orange Sanguine, which matches our high temperatures today. Biking home in 30 degrees Celsius was no fun. Dinner was a Romana salad with watermelon and Feta after I had a long cool shower. Now I think I will drench myself in EA Green tea
Your biking is inspirational! I’ve been thinking about getting my big a$$ back on my bike a lot because of you, but then I open the door and get a blast of heat and humidity, which sucks the breath right out of my chest and convinces me the best spot is on top of the A/C with the fan on Turbo…??♀️
It’s a ebike, but it still takes one hour ride one way, so I think it counts
Sorry about the hot bike ride, but 2nding Deva, it is inspirational! And your dinner sounds fantastic as always.
Thankfully my route is mostly over the fields, just 3km through smaller villages. The nicest part is the path along the Glems river with lots of green and old mill buildings
Do you have to share the road with cars, or are there dedicated bike trails where you are at?
Hello all!
1) SOTD is Cap Neroli- this is my premiere summer scent. I have gone through two 1 ounce bottles of this and will need to order a third very soon.
2) The old town is HOT. The temps are high and tempers are even higher.
3) The garden has enter the very wild and lush portion of the summer. I did a pull out of the old pea plants, stuck in a new tomato plant from a neighbor, tied up the berries canes that were getting out of hand, discovered a nest of kittens that were somehow well hidden in a my tiny yard (don’t worry- they were cleaned up, given shots and are being lovingly cared for by adoptive families) and have been eating loads of green beans, squash, and herbal salads for days and days and days. I like this part of the year, and wish I could go to Hood River or the beach and hang out with friends.
Just WOW❣️
Hey Ede! My herb garden is lush these days, too. Lush with weeds! I need to pay it some attention, or I will lose the good stuff.
Hey you! Yes, get out there early am or late pm with a flashlight and give it some love! One of my beds has weeds but it’s just grass that poked through and I just cut it down and use it as mulch.
I want to go to the beach, too. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that without interacting with anyone once I’m there. . . it’s the inevitable need for a washroom that’s got me stumped!
Just swim out into the water and pee? 😉
Yikes. Pretty sure the waters off Oregon never get to nonhypothermic temperatures! No desire to dunk myself to the necessary depth for that!
Yeah- so much at Lincoln City, Cannon Beach et al is not open, or are open with social distancing with no bathrooms. Condos at the beach I would not be sure are disinfected enough.
My mom is in Lincoln City, and we could use her place for a pit stop, as long as we have the time to add in some extra chatting time with her.
oh lucky ducky! Get out of the Valley and GO.
I think we are likely to go down there next week. Haven’t seen Mom in person since all this began.
Surprise kittens!!??
They were so sweet- defensive at first but turned into fluffballs really quickly! I let things grow for a bit and the mother cat apparently decided it was cool, shaded place to be (by the volunteer raspberry canes and under the shade of neighbors’ grape vines) . So they were cozy & comfortable there. There mother cat did come back looking for the kittens but saw me and ran off. I wish I was able to catch her so she could be spayed.
She’ll come back again. See if you can bait a cage from animal control or a rescue group in your area. I can imaging how devastated she’ll be. If you can catch her, then the kittens can be with her until ready for adoption, while still nursing, not to mention getting mom cat adequate nutrition.
You know, I have thought about this. Tomorrow.
Nest of kittens – *insert row of hearts* Thank you for protecting them!
SOTD = Parfums d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers
There’s a lot going on with this one and I am not one to parse the everything but the kitchen sink notes so I will just say vintagey fresh❣️

I got this meme where you’re supposed to figure out how to get to 6 using any math operator:
2 + 2 + 2 = 6
3 3 3 = 6
4 4 4 = 6
5 5 5 = 6
6 6 6 = 6
7 7 7 = 6
8 8 8 = 6
9 9 9 = 6
If you were able to figure out 1, you’re a kindergarten graduate, 3 High School, 5 University, all PhD. Some have more than 1 way to get to 6.
For most of us in the U.S., we may as well rename it Hotlandia. The next 2 days will be scorchers, including the dreaded high dew point.
The math is too much for my brain. I will just stick to looking at that pretty bottle ?
LOL. I thought it was fun ?.
The brain teaser was so much fun!! Thank you!!
Agreed! Glad you enjoyed it!
Well, I was in half day kindergarten, so that explains some things. ?
LOL. I’m convinced I was absent from school when the teacher went over left and right.
Apparently a number of the people on Dad’s side of the family have trouble with right and left. I tend to say “this way” or “that way” and point. If I’m a passenger in a car and do that, it’s annoying for the driver. If I’m not in a car and get a few minutes to think about it, I can figure it out. 🙂
Hysterical!
So far high school for me. I’m still working on it…
Yay! A hint: you have to use more than + – x /
I passed this on to my HS daughter who is math-y. (after failing very quickly myself)
Vintagey fresh sounds GREAT!
And I sadly was doing the calculations when you put up the puzzle!
I really enjoyed this! I am not sure how smart I AM but I know NOT as smart as I THINK I am!
Tom Ford Orchid Soleil for a 90 degree day in Seattle! I sure love this weird buttery, white floral/tanning lotion perfume.
It is really weird, but fantastic!
It’s a pity that one was d/c’ed.
I’m at work, having a grumpy day. I have tomorrow off, but have an important meeting so I think I’m just anxious.
Sotd is Tocca Stella. Finishing my sample today. I would like to try matching shower gel.
Hope your day gets better, Lillyjo! ?
Thanks! I’m home now, and it’s really cooling down. I hope it does the same for you soon.
I hope things get better today, and your meeting goes smoothly tomorrow, lillyjo! Sounds like you need a real, bona fide day off. ?
Thanks! I am expecting a real day off Thursday. Fingers crossed.
You smell great anyway. Hope the day improves.
Thanks!
Best wishes for a good meeting tomorrow!
Thank you!
You smell great! I have the Stella body cream. Hope your day gets better.
Thanks! Yeah, this is a really nice perfume.
Sorry for the grumpy day but best wishes for your important meeting!
Thank you! I’m really nervous.
Lillyjo, here’s a pick me up for you!
https://youtu.be/CjnuUDoyn54
Lol! Thanks Deva. Gosh he was so cute!
He has such a great energy, too! Well, the whole band just screams joy…!
Everybody is allowed a “grumpy day” now and then. Good luck with your meeting!
I’m in a couple of dabs of Hyrax. Not at all a summer go to, so we can subtract two points from my weekly total. ?
This started out with a puff of smoke! Did anyone else get smoke?? Didn’t last long. It would be better in winter, but it was fine on the morning walk. It’s been almost cool here, and breezy, so Hyrax didn’t suffocate me. It’s musky, spicy with a bit of booze. Maybe it gets more aggressive when it’s sprayed…I like it.
How surprising! I just about gagged from it.
I love the uninhibited truth of your response! Not that I know anything about this scent as I’ve never tried it, but when I see unfiltered honesty, it makes me SO happy! ?
I’m a pretty direct person, for better or for worse!
Always for the better, IMO ??
I like that about you too, my friend! ?
Did you get smoke at the start? It was so strange, a puff of smoke, but not ashtray.
Jasmine et Cigarette was straight ashtray on me, NOT smoke. I now know the difference.
Maybe you didn’t get that far. Did you dab or spritz? I’m sorry you had such a bad experience!
I am totally off CP testing a couple of patchoulis (Nicolai and L’Artisan).
“Nothing about us, without us!”
A shout out to people with disabilities as its the 30th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Equality and justice are a process of course, but the passage of the ADA was a remarkable step indeed.
how do they compare?
I prefer the L’Artisan. There is a note in the Nicolai that reminds me of aftershave. Still looking for my holy grail patchouli.
Patchouli Patch? I loved Nicolai’s too. I think I preferred it. I also adore VC&A Moonlight Patchouli.
I have a DSH vintage Patchouli I should send to you for a sampling! You game???
Oh, good to remember that anniversary. Judges have tended to rule narrowly on what a disability is in regards to employment accessibility, but the law was a good idea.
NPR made a point of mentioning the ADA anniversary this past weekend. Some very interesting history there.
I’m in Papillon Angelique. This is my third sample, but I can’t ever seem to convince myself to splurge on it. Nice and calming after a very HOT couple of hours with the lawnmower this morning.
And Angelique wants to keep you guessing as to how to describe it.
Exactly! Maybe if I had a bottle, I could figure it out…?
I have one and I still couldn’t figure it out ?
I went out briefly early in the morning, but since I got home, I’ve been sheltering inside in the air conditioning. When Dad wants to go out and mow or do other yard work in hot weather, we tell him to drink lots of Gatorade. I hope you’re keeping well hydrated! 🙂
Oh, I did not want to! And I did just enough mild complaining this evening to inspire my husband to offer to do it next week.
I wouldn’t have wanted to be out in the yard, and you live only a few miles from where I do. Maybe in a few weeks the weather will get cooler, but next week still looked like it was going to be very hot, according to the TV weatherpeople.
Mowing hasn’t ever been a task assigned to me. I’ll do other yard work tasks that don’t involve machinery or heavy lifting, but my garden plants are usually those that can survive some benign neglect. 🙂
Fiori di Capri, one of my favorite summer scents. Dry, soapy floral.
My Monday smells of Les Brumes by Ormaie. I really see a bottle in my future!
Back from a week in the woods, the bears didn’t get us but the bugs did. :-). Perfume is Atélier des Ors Rouge Sarây.
What do you think of Rouge Saray? I saw an announcement of its release and I duly added it to my list of future samples, but I haven’t heard much about it.
It’s quite nice, it reminds me a bit of Montale Red Aoud which has an almost chocolatey note up top.
I’ve got family in Tenn on a vacation in the woods and they keep sending us pics of big bears roaming the property where they’re staying and some with their cubs! They’re perfectly content with staying indoors and watching the wildlife.
Welcome back! How did the pupper do?
She was sick in the car again, but some Bonine tablets helped. She is a really good hiker though! And she was very excited by all the squirrels and chipmunks. They came to our campsite to torment her regularly. LOL. 🙂
My sister’s dog throws up pretty much every time he’s riding in a car.
Oh, I hope you had a great time! We are just back from our second camping trip this summer and I can’t wait to go again.
I think I’ll do an ELDO theme week. Today is the lovely “She was an anomaly” which garnered the rare husband compliment “You smell snuggly”.
Did my new employee video orientation today. I also read the employee handbook. My new school district pays for one uber ride per year if you’re too drunk to drive. I’ve never seen that before!
This is classic. You may have seen it, but your “one Uber drunk driving pass” made me think of it again…
https://youtu.be/yuXGpUR7fXA
I would not use it … just saying, unless it is also for other reasons…
I can’t help but think there must have been a bad incident after a holiday party. I hope no one was seriously hurt.
It is definitely a wiser option than driving while impaired. I would be very cautious about using it if the only reason one uses the school-paid ride is due to alcohol intake that may impair driving. The school has to keep track of who had used it since it is a once / year utility.
I agree. It sounds like a trap to me.
We once had the school police officer give a lot of teachers rides home after a PTSA adult only party/fundraiser – that Uber ride would have come in very handy!
OK then. I will have to mention that to a school board member I know to see if it’s in our policy. Are you in the USA, Sistine?
That is an oddly specific reason for a free Uber ride.
Can you tell us about Anomaly? I’ve been curious about that one. (And congrats again on the new job!)
Im wearing my old dear-god-its-hot green tea cologne from lothantique. It’s never really hot here, but it feels like swanning around in a caftan weather.
Looks like it will be a clear winter day here, I don’t mind being cold so much if the sun is shining. I’ll accompany the day with Vol de Nuit.
Sotd is Oriza L. LeGrand Vetiver Royal Bourbon. I knew I had to have it upon one wearing out of a sample vial, so we’re really just starting to get acquainted for real. There’s a lightness and an ever so slight brightness about this bebe, partially attributed to a cool mint note up top.
I think I’ll be in this one for a while, but a couple of you are reminding me of how much I enjoyed Shalimar last summer, so maybe that will be in my August rotation.
As an eternal Rush fan, I’m tipping my invisible hat to your avatar. When Neil Peart died, a little piece of me died, too. I spent HOURS and HOURS listening to them in my younger days…
Wearing Douceur de Siam, a summer favourite. Just bought an almost-full backup bottle, so I can keep spritzing freely.
I woke up late and exhausted today. And I have a mysterious bruise on my right shoulder about the size of a quarter that wasn’t there last night. It’s a Monday, for sure. Plus, it’s stinking hot to boot, along with an Air Quality Alert (or lack thereof). Phooey.
SOTD = Wrappings EdP again. I would love to have this scent in a shower gel!
Mystery bruises, yikes! I get them, too. Never quite recall bumping into something, but I assume that’s what it was. Doesn’t take much to leave a mark the next day, in my experience!
I bruise easily, too. Always have, although I’m not as bad as I was when I was a kid.
Eek on the mysterious bruise! It could be the most innocent bump (a door or while wrangling a kitteh or whatever). Hope it goes away soon.
The weird thing is, I don’t remember smacking into anything last night. ?
I have a Wrappings mini in the que! I will have to try it soon.
If you like green, chypre-type perfumes, then Wrappings will be right up your alley.
Hope you sleep well tonight.
Thanks, lillyjo! Not sure why I woke up wiped out… I seemed to sleep well enough, but my body said otherwise.
Maybe not an exact dupe, but Vitabath original Spring Green may be a pretty close match as a shower gel for Wrappings. I have the ginormous bottle in my stash!
I read your weekend update on the upcoming wedding; glad to hear that some of the stress went away.
Thanks for the hot tip on the Vitabath shower gel!
I think maybe the bride & groom are feeling some relief, too. They have a lot of other things to deal with right now that they can focus on.
Lumiere Blanche, thunk goes the sample vial, this is lovely but has zero longevity on me.
I would agree, too bad because it is really nice.
I reached for Amouage Opus VIII this morning because something told me to and it’s just right. Jasmine and Ylang plus incense and spice. It’s bright not heavy. I like it for our current hot humid weather. But I like it in any weather. I’m supposed to meet a former student later to go for a walk (distanced, with masks) and meet his wife. They live in Denver but she’s here to have cancer treatment follow-ups. It’s so sad when young people face these hard struggles especially in our current times.
You smell amazing! I adore Opus VIII and it blooms beautifully in the heat. This is the first summer that I have worn it more often than usuaI and I have been enjoying it a lot.
Ugh, that is sad! I hope her follow-up is good news.
Jasmine and incense? Hmmmmmm, maybe I will start hunting around for a sample of Opus VIII.
That is a pity your former student and his wife are in such a rough spot right now.
So sorry about your former student’s wife. I hope the follow-up brings good news.
Thanks all! We had a great walk and they were excited to see juvenile night herons strolling about nonchalantly. Right here in the city on a very fancy tree-lined street! I’d been hoping for that. We also heard a screech owl. Megan has a good prognosis but is getting tests done here because her cancer is rare and there are specialists here. She has a Ph.D. in biology and they are both big birders. We also had a beautiful sunset with lovely peach and pink clouds. Oh, and saw egrets too.
Shalimar Souffle Intense. It’s not what I would call “intense” in Shalimar terms, but I’m not blaming it. It stayed with me all day, and revealed new facets/notes now and then in a quiet way.
Shalimar is a beauty in all her forms 🙂
Love this one and the bottle is easy on the eyes!
The bottle did influence me and it looks as good in person. I should have worn it two days in a row to get to know it better. Yes, I am a Shalimar fan and sure am wanting that new Philtre de Parfum when it arrives.
I’m just glad we have air conditioning in the house today. On Sunday evening, I finally did get the chance to wear Zoologist Bee, three days after I’d wanted to wear it. Oh, well. I may put on a bit of a nice, light cologne at bedtime tonight, one that feels cooling to me. 🙂
In the outdoors scents category, the heliotrope is blooming again, and I could smell it this morning. 🙂
The heliotrope sounds lovely!
You could come for a socially-distant visit to the yard sometime when it’s not 90 degrees out. My e-mail address is neyronrose at gmail dot com.
What do your heliotrope plants smell like? Almonds or Play-Doh?
Hello! LOL! My brother and I were talking on the phone a few weeks ago, and he said he’d never smelled heliotrope, so I tried to describe it to him.
“Cherry…vanilla…almond…powdery…” So almond made it in there.
I can’t think of a real-life flower I’ve smelled and gotten a Play-Doh kind of smell from. In Passalong Plants, either Steve Bender or Felder Rushing describes sweet shrub (Calycanthus floridus) as smelling like Juicy Fruit gum from a certain year of the 1970s, and once you’ve read that association, you can’t forget it. 😀 And I’ve also mentioned how the Agastache smells like root beer. But I can’t think of a Play-Doh scent from a garden plant I’m familiar with.
Cherry + vanilla + almond + powdery = sounds like the original Jergen’s lotion from way back in the day. Or at least my memory of it.
SotD = Breath of God solid and perfume
with thanks to the lovely NSTers who shared their stash with me.
Feeling incense-y and mellow today, I am back from a trip to the beach, doing my best to hold on to the positive vibes.
Had my first surfing lessons this past weekend, and it was FUN. 😀
Surfing lessons? How cool!
Heh heh, I did feel a little bit cool when I managed to stay on the board 😉
Go tiffanie! You made me think of Patrick Swaze and Keanu Reeves in Point Break. Swoon?
YES! I loved Point Break 🙂
You’re braver than me!
Wearing about 10 sprays of Heure Exquise tonight. Was back in the office today; they installed dividers and plexiglass between some of the desks since I as there last, including mine and my new neighbor. Small steps.
Yesterday I made a batch of cinnamon ice cream; I used a totally different base recipe than last year, this one is a keeper! Just a tiny scoop or 2 is all you need. Stay cool everyone.
Smelling great today!
Thanks Jalapeno! I don’t think I ever sprayed 10 times with this, but ‘more is more’.
