Oh dear, Monday again, so soon. Also, French Fries Day and Sir Patrick Stewart's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Ormonde Jayne Champaca.
Reminder: on 7/17, we're doing Nouveau Niche, updated...wear a perfume from a new (2015+) niche brand. (A repeat from 2015.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Buongiorno
Tea is Pleine Lune
SOTD Sanrovia by Blocki Perfumes
Top: lemon, bergamot & Valencia orange
Middle: geranium, lavender, jasmine & Jacques Cartier rose
Base: labdanum, vetiver, cedar & sandalwood
To match I am wearing a vintage pleaded Prada skirt in baby blue and a beautiful white tank top. Pretending I am in the Italian shores…even drinking out of my cup from Capri with big lemons on it.
Oh, Sanrovia sounds wonderful! I’ve never heard of it!
Drinking a lot of Earl Gray tea lately, with an extra dash of lemon.
Part of my morning ritual is when I first wake up is to drink a glass of water with lemon. Lemon morning drinking twins!
Lemon for the WIN!
Your outfit sounds fab! ???
Sounds beautiful!
Since I can’t travel…
I never heard of Blocki perfumes, but that sounds fantastic!.
SOTD is Woody Perfecto by Parle Moi de Parfum. Founded after 2015 so I’m good for this week’s CP.
This is nice enough but not me at all. Feels like a rather generic fragrance for men. Not that I know many of those.
Tea is Su Li Cha.
We all need to start collecting names of post 2015 brands, so thanks! But I have no PMdP.
I can only think of one other brand; Pont des Arts. I’ve been trying to find a website that has lists of niche houses that are new (ish). No luck so far.
I think Hajusuuri likes the iris one from PMdP, and Persolaise is a fan of Papyrus Oud. My favourite so far is Totally white.
Orris Tattoo!
Thank you! I noticed it once on your Insta
Goldfield and Banks
Carine Roitfeld
Gallivant
Altaia
Floraiku
Vilhelm
Arielle Shoshana
Thanks, I’m going for Goldfield & Banks!
Thanks Robin, it turns out I own nothing from any of those!
It’s another beautiful morning here. I’m about to write out a check for my stupid city taxes. Ugh..
Sotd is Joop! Le Bain, which is smelling perfect today. It’s creamy, and vacation-y without the tanning lotion vibe.
Joop! Blast from the past..
Beautiful morning here too!?
OMG taxes. We did my taxes yesterday, so I expect alllllll of my bank account to empty out today. Goodbye, money.
I mailed mine Saturday. POO.
I know! Ours were brutal. The only saving grace is they are done until next year.
Beautiful morning twins/triplets!
Kyoto for the morning (thanks A!). No points here. I need to think about whether I’ve got anything from a newer niche brand. Heading out for a walk before tackling work.
I don’t know if I have any new niche scents either..will have to check
I think I have to copy you springpansy!! I started out thinking AG Eau Du Sud but I really NEED that calming incense today.
Hope it’s working for you.
You smell marvelous.
I am starting the italian version of My Brilliant Friend. Book 2.
Oh how captivating that series is.
You smell great! I spent the weekend in Kyoto
I’m wearing Moab from Phlur, so I’m definitely gaining points for the CP. Phlur started producing fragrances in 2016.
I tried phlur early on. I didn’t love, but never say never!
I love the name and idea of this one!
One the lis to sniff it goes.
Ooh, I have Hanami! You may have fixed my Friday problem.
Hi all! My SOTD is Guerlain’s AA Mandarine Basilic, juicy, spicy, green citrus and one of my favorites from the line.
This is in my top six citrus scents of all time, which includes Patou’s Eau de Patou, Chanel’s Cristalle EDT, and Guerlain’s AA Pampleune.
Headed out for a walk, ta ta for now!
I almost wore that this morning, and will probably spray some on this afternoon. Have a great walk!
I’m back! Great walk, I heard several hawks in our neighborhood, and walked by an owl’s nest with three chicks. Fuzzy and cute!
I struggled at the end, having back issues which rarely happens so time for alternating ice/heat throughout the day.
ouchie! sorry about your back, truly hope it is better with ice/heat. that’s what works for me.
love your sotd, yay for MB, it smells so good, and the name makes me giggle because i always parse it as mandarin basilisk then imagine a huge orange lizard monster perfume.
You smell great! That’s a good,one.
Tell me more about your SOTD
L2SM – Seeing your SOTD, you may enjoy this one. Notes from Fragrantica are:
Top notes clementine, orange blossom, ivy, green tea and bitter orange;
Middle notes are peony, chamomile, mandarin orange and basil; Base notes are sandalwood and amber.
On my skin, it’s one of the most realistic freshly-peeled citrus/orange scents, refreshing without being too bitter, the chamomile/basil gives it a balanced herbal feel, and the best part is the pulpy clementine, green tea, and ivy note at the end. Sunshine in a bottle, it’s an uplifting fragrance.
Hmmm..
Have you smelled Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat? Just out of curiosity
Hi L2SM, no I haven’t! I do love citrus in most forms…
I love this scent!
I think that it is one of the happiest scents that I own!!
I’m in TF Eau de Soleil Blanc again and thunked my little Sephora spray sample. Today is my fourth day of work in a row which means 48 straight hours. I’ve been planning all weekend to treat myself to a Chai tea latte today and apparently I’ve really been looking forward to it because I dreamt about one last night. In my dream something kept hitting my lips through that little hole in the lid and when I opened it up there was a pair of wrist sweatbands floating in my Chai. Lol and GROSS! What does that dream even mean?!
Anyway I did get my Chai this morning and it was delicious. And no sweatbands, I checked.??
I am so happy to hear that you got your Chai this morning! 48 hours in a row sounds terrible. I waited tables during college, and I remember a harrowing week when a whole bunch of staff had up and left the week before. Suddenly, there was no one to fill the assignments, and I worked 3 back-to-back “breakfast, lunch, dinner” shifts, which meant 5am-11pm each day. I was crying before dinner on that third day, failing to pull myself together before a customer might see me. . . I hope you get some real rest soon!
I really like TF soleil blanc! U smell great!
Ewwww. That sounds like a horrible dream! I hope you get a real break soon.
Coffeee and lots of it.
Cleaned from top to bottom yesterday, back is stiff. Oye ve.
People were frenzy shopping at grocery store, preparing for another shut down perhaps.
One spray of St.Clair Pharoahs Passion, probably too warm for today but the ac will be on.
Drink lots of water with or without lemon today, stay hydrated!
My back has been stiff for weeks now, from painting & all the moving things about that that entails. If it would cool off a bit I would take a warm bath.
Old is the new old!
So true!
Happy Birthday to Sir Pat Stew!
Wearing a random fragrance from the sample bowl today, Neon Rose by Floral Street. As advertised, a big pink rose. Very pleasant, and not very fruity at all, but not really anything to write home about.
Am off today and tomorrow and trying to summon the energy to do some chores and exercise, but mostly just want to curl up with a book. Am reading The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. Am not far into it but enjoying it so far.
With you on wanting to curl up with a book!
Ah, I have heard great things about that book. I’ll have to put it on my list!
Going to the doc today for a short test and feeling a bit nervous. I signed up for curbside waiting in the app where you wait in your car until they’re ready…hopefully it will work. ?
Going to wear some Black Flower Mexican Vanilla oil.
I hope your test goes well!
Fingers crossed for you She-ra!
Good luck at the Dr’s office! I’ll be doing the same tomorrow. We got this.
Good Luck!
Thanks for all the well wishes. Curbside check-in/waiting worked perfectly and experience was excellent.
Incredibly grateful for all nurses, healthcare and essential workers.♥️
Glad to hear that your appointment went well!
I was at my doctor’s office for tests on Friday. All of the waiting rooms looked emptier than usual. Every other chair was blocked off. The strangest thing was that all the usual magazines were removed. Of course they’re always dog-eared and ancient so it’s not a big loss, but creepy. What I really resented was no more coffee on hand!
I am going against the CP wearing Hermes Caleche EDT.
Ah, but Calèche is so wonderful.
Happy birthday to Sir Patrick! I’m joining Glannys in Hermes, but instead it’s Eau des Merveilles – straight up, no twist of Eau Claire.
You smell fabulous.
Yes to Hermes!
EdM is always a good idea. You smell great!
As ever, or so it seems these days, I am still only at the coffee and bleary-eyed stage of my day. So, SOTD will have to wait. I like the idea of working through some’more samples, though, so that’s a likely thing.
I put 5 fuschias in my yard yesterday. I hope the hummingbirds approve of my selections! The yard was a blank canvas when we purchased our house last year, and it is slowly filling in. I’m trying to learn from my efforts at the last place–to spread things out a bit more to give them room to fill in, to clump similar/same plants together so they make more of a showing, to take my time selecting things. At the garden center, I still impulse-purchased an adorable mini fuschia for a planter–teeny blooms no more than a centimeter across! That one’s for me and not the hummers, I expect.
Love fuschia! There was this fabulous, huge place in Mendocino many, many years back called Fuschiarama. Who knew there were so many varieties. And the colors!
Fuschiarama! I love it! I wish I could see it–I love gardens and shops that specialize so you can see all the ways one might use a plant and all the varieties! Within a short drive from me, I can go to places that specialize in irises, dahlias, lilacs, rhododendrons, roses (of course, we are the Rose City), and likely others that I’m forgetting off the top of my head. I spent many happy springs and summers scheduling my weeks around what was most likely to be in bloom and taking day trips.
That sounds so fantastic!
I love hearing stories from competent gardeners. I have a black thumb.
The trick is to take careful notice of what you don’t kill, and then plant more of that!
That is how I operate.
Anything that survives gets replanted the next time.
I’m in Niral from NVC today.
A velvety iris love.
You smell wonderful.
You are in Poland right?
Yesterday my sister in law stopped by with my nephew, she is Polish, and she gave me a bag of these delicious chocolates that have plum in the middle and also some polish herbal tea. I can’t stop eating them…
SOTD: Do Son EDP
Amazed at how fast two days go when it’s the weekend.
Finally scheduled a hair appointment for this week. It’s time. Something to look forward to! Also considering going much shorter but will probably wimp out.
I cut my hair short (ear/chin length) last year after a few decades of hair well-passed my shoulders. I love it! I have to get more frequent haircuts, though, and that is seeming less ideal in the current moment. I haven’t had a haircut since the New Year, as I was scheduled for the next one in March and it was cancelled. . . I would love to get my look cleaned up, but I don’t mind that my stylist is taking her time to return and staying safe. (And I’m really glad I didn’t throw out all my hairbands, hairties and the like!)
I chopped some of mine off myself, day before yesterday. Just couldn’t take the extra shagginess. It’s a curly mop, so my less than professional shearing isn’t too dreadfully obvious. Well, that’s what I’m telling myself, anyway.
I’ve been tempted to try that, too. My curls *might* be curly enough to hide the worst of my efforts!
Oooh hair appointment, good for you. ???
I still need to plan mine! My last appointment was in 3rd of march ?
Nowhere near niche. Baiser de Russie, Guerlain. I wanted that blast of pine.
Good news is the Goodwill up the street is open. I can finally get those bags out of the bedroom.
Amusing moment after church yesterday. Our favorite diner in NYC (Eat Here Now) has reopened for outdoor seating in a parking space and on sidewalk. I popped my head in to say hi to our usual waitress since we couldn’t stay. Had to drop my mask down so she’d recognize me. So nice to see her again…looking forward to eating there for breakfast again.
Oh, sigh, I LOVE a good diner!
I was hoping to see Baiser de Russie on the split meet, I really love that one and I drained my decant from several split meets ago..
I have a growing stack of stuff that I need to get out of my garage and into the nearest thrift store….
Pretty sure we have half a garage-full of things we could donate. . .
I cleaned out so much stuff before I moved last Dec. Felt so good. Someday I will get to all the crap in my Mom’s garage…?
I hear you! My Dad’s garage is so bad, and there is a second floor of badness to deal with as well. ?
A blissfully cooler day, wearing JM Tuberose Angelica.
Cooler here too, but still a shade more humid than it should be.
Finally home from my aunt’s and spent Saturday and yesterday moving mulch. My sunburn has mostly gone away but it now my Sun rash sticks out since the sun burn faded. Leaving in a few minutes to take myself to work. Wearing Quarzazate for now.
You smell great Dawn!
Hi Robin and friends, long time no see! I’m wearing Clarins Par Amour Toujours today. My next book comes out in about a month — so ready for my pre-book anxiety to end!!!
I wish you success Elisa. Par Amour Toujours is very cheerful in summer with its grapefruit.
Wohoo!! A big congrats on your book. How does it feel? I have to write a book for my (academic) job and living in constantly anxiety too about it
Congrats on the new book!
Congratulations! I hope the month passes before you know it.
That’s very exciting, Elisa!
(But I’m sympathetic if the excitement is heavily tinged with terror! ?)
A friend tells me anxiety is just a form of excitement and I’m trying to remember that!
And there’s so many reasons for excitement these days!
Congrats!
Woohoo, congrats!
Congratulations!
Thank you all for the nice supportive notes! <3
I just pre-ordered your new book. I am certain it will be smashing!
Congratulations!
For anyone who wants to see Elisa’s book:
http://www.elisagabbert.com/the-unreality-of-memory/
And congrats!
(But the Paris Review’s “joyful” and Austin somebody’s “I had to lie down between essays”, these are hard for me to reconcile.)
Ack, Elisa, you already had pre-book anxiety and so I hope you know I was totally kidding!
Of course
Thank you for the link Robin!
Wow!!
?Thanks Robin.
Congratulations Elisa.
Wow, what a title, what a subject matter!
I can’t wait to read it.
Nice to see you and congratulations!
Good morning. I am wearing Imaginary Authors Sundrunk and drinking a cup of Irish Breakfast tea.
I am so late that I’m wearing Tam Dao and drinking my after-dinner ginger tea
No CP points for me today
I am wearing Ormonde Woman
I had a busy weekend with a funeral (father of a friend passed away) and a birthday bash in the garden for my mother in law.
you had a mix of both happy and sad
The cycle of life, its becoming more evident each day as we go through these terrible times.
Hugs.
Thanks you.
My friend’s father had a brain tumor.
When Covid19 peaked in our country in march and april, she was not able to visit him, or visits were extrmely limited.
Luckily he survived those weeks and she was able to visit him in may and june when the restrictions became less stringent.
That’s a roller coaster weekend. Happy birthday to your mother in law!
Wow, you had quite the weekend!
Lovely weather here after lots of rain. Took the day off to sit in my garden. SOTD is Dovana by Sylvaine Delacourte. A nice baby powder scent!
My favorite from that line is Virgile, followed by Ozkan
SOTD = St. Clair Scents First Cut
Love this but it is fleeting. Points for the CP as the house is Noveau Indie, assuming, of course, that Indie is almost always niche but not the other way around!
I already have over 2 weeks worth for this CP but I am learning about more lines that qualify!
Oh really? What are some of the other new houses? I will have to find the couple SCS samples I have; I don’t know if I have anything else that qualifies!
I think Nomenclature qualifies.
Chris Rusak
Parle Moi de Parfum
Senyoko Perfumes (I only have samples)
Jorum Studio
Parfums Dusita
Zoologist almost made it (2014)
Thanks for the list! Sadly, I don’t have any of those, so I guess I’ll have to be out of CP and just wear my Zoologists
Heretic
Skylar
Essential Parfums
Blocki
Hermetica
Marc-Antoine Barrios
Sylvaine Delacourte
Oh nice, thanks! Ok, then I’m set–I’ve got a couple sample packs from Sylvaine Delacourte that I’ll live off of this week
Thanks, I was wondering about Zoologist.
In Vivacious–Hiram Green launched before 2015–but not much earlier, but this frag IS new—so partial points. I love the carnation in this one. In fact, if this were billed as a carnation scent, that would make sense to me. I see in other reviews comparisons with Apres l’ondee and L’Heure Bleue. Nope. Not to my nose. This is a big carnation, with some loveliness from blue and purple flowers in the background.
Powdery carnation or spicy carnation?
More spicy than powdery, but the iris and violet ground it. Especially in the dry down, you get a chorus, not a spicy solo. (To my nose!)
Sounds great
Haven’t sniffed Vivacious, but now I am trying to imagine L’Heure Bleue with a big dash of cinnamon in the top notes. . .
Well, I get the classic perfume reference, but this perfume is somehow sweeter, and even a tad green–more violet leaf and violet-y to my nose, with that carnation dollop in the top notes. But my nose has been mortifyingly inaccurate in identifying notes, so take my take with a grain of salt!
Trying to shoo away a lemming now…
Ha!! Good one and good luck.
I’m wearing Ramon Monegal Impossible Iris this morning. Sunny and warm all week, hoping to take a few more walks to build my stamina. I’m getting really bored here, the library holds service is working at a crawl due to reduced staff and there is only so much TV I can tolerate. Even Dirty Jobs didn’t cheer me up over the weekend and I think Mike Rowe is really funny.
Ramon Monegal, now there is a brand that is rarely mentioned!I have always adored the bottles.
If Mike Rowe can’t cheer you up, that is a bummer! Speaking of, did you know that there is a new version of “Dirty Jobs” out now?
Wearing Miss Dior le Parfum, a modern chypre Lillyjo and I favor, I think it’s not perfumista approved but I really enjoy it.
I think it’s not perfumista approved because it’s in the “new” Miss Dior bottle and no one smells it. It really should have gotten it’s own name and bottle.
That makes sense! Why not rename reformulations, especially when they’re dramatically different than previous iterations? I think it’s very cynical to think that folks won’t notice if the changes are significant. They could even just number them, batch numbers, etc.
That’s a very good point Lillyjo, Dior has be generally inept with naming or rather renaming and packaging, branding in the last ten years.
I nearly missed out on Le Parfum, because it took me awhile to notice it wasn’t regular new formulation Miss Dior.
It really is SO good!
Another piece in the puzzle of Miss Dior Le Parfum is that it seems to be scarce, at least where I live.
I think it’s discontinued.
Paco in the metallic flask-like bottle.I enjoy the crispness of it in the cold winter weather.
Happy Monday!
At least the packaging says Nouveau Niche,in my opinion.
Johano, you are smelling grand!
Happy Monday to you too, good to see you here! Ah, a classic gentleman’s choice.
Jasmin Angélique for another long ebike commute. It was cold in the morning and I only wore a sleeveless biking vest, brrrrrr…
Is Rogue perfumery founded after 2015? I have no idea..
According to Fragrantica, the 1st release was in 2017, so we’re good!
Man, if Patrick Stewart would bring over some french fries this day could really turn around! I’m in L’Ombre Dans l’Eau today — almost went fragrance free but I decided that this scent is really an anti-bleakness potion. Laid awake fretting about the avalanching life slope I find myself on until 2am last night and then woke up bang at 5:45, so I’ve got a nausea-inducing level of sleep deprivation going on. Fortunately, I smell great!
I could really go for Patrick Stewart and french fries! But it sounds like you need them more today, so I’ll let him deliver to your house first.
You smell wonderful. I hope you have a more restful night tonight. Hugs.
Hoping for a good night sleep or a nap for you, glad perfume helps, l’Ombre dans l’Eau is lovely.
You are in the hardest part right now and will emerge stronger on the other side, I promise
Sleep deprivation is no joke! Hope you make up the deficit soon. Love the idea of a perfume as an “anti-bleakness potion”.
Sending you peaceful and supportive vibes <3
I’ve been in the “so sleep-deprived I am nauseous” camp. It sucks. I hope you get a restful nights’ sleep tonight.
I had another zoom job interview today, so I wore No 5 L’Eau again. However this time I actually went to my old school to do the interview, because our neighbors seem to be renovating the entire front of their house (the front wall is gone! What are they doing???) and the dog keeps barking.
Keep your fingers crossed for me to get this job – I really want it!
I hope you get it! Fingers crossed
Fingers crossed!
Report back if you find out what your neighbors are doing!?
???
Good luck!
???
??????????
Good luck with your interview! ??? And yeah, if I saw a house renovation like your neighbor’s I would be very curious, too.
Good luck!!! ??
Fingers crossed Sistine.
Good luck for the job!
In Galop.
Anyone interested in a split of AA Orange Soleia? Persolaise’s review made me lemm it. Or does it make more sense to wait until it’s at the discounters. It’s not like any of us are in urgent need of more perfume ?
Bengale Rouge again. I’m in a sweet little monogamous rut, and it feels fine! ?
https://instagram.com/stories/vantasticviews/2352365566458987428?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=n1gymr2qgl2g
Mad Love! You smell fabuloso.
Time passes faster than I can keep up with, so every brand I think of as new is older than 2015!
So I’m going for negative points – neither new nor niche – with Miss Dior (the original that I bought about 10 yeaes ago).
Ha! Love the idea of negative points.
You smell great!
This is a wonderful idea!
I am with you today I was thinking the same.
I am spinning counter clockwise trying to pick the scent that fits my mood today.
After a pass on Kyoto, and also Eau du Sud I finally landed on Narciso For Her body lotion.
This is a great CP. I have a good hand to play.
I will get my act together by tomorrow.
In Paris-Deauville today, 10 or so sprays this morning before work, could barely smell it by lunchtime.
Looking forward to Friday already.
10 sprays!! I never do more then 2 no matter the perfume. I need to take a cue from you and hajisuuri
Wrist, wrist, inner elbow, inner elbow, behind each ear, maybe a spritz or two in the hair for good measure, decolletage, and a bit on your blouse/tshirt, so you know it will hang around a bit longer. . . This is easy homework. ?
I never spray on clothes or scarf but they do get collateral smell.
LOL at ‘collateral smell’!
Double LOL at collateral smell?
I don’t mind spritzing a garment that would be getting washed after its current use (or the next time I’m wearing it, it’s going to be at home where no one else will care if my scents mix oddly). But no, I wouldn’t spritz a scarf or similar on purpose, although they end up fragranced in any case!
Yes. Keep that finger on the atomizer and keep pressing ?
Just keep spraying should be our community mantra ?
I think I’ll get anti-credit points for Santa Maria Novella – the Cologne with no name (at least not on my bottle) for a scented something to bed. Hiking all day today. In the alps for few days ☺️
Alps are amazing, enjoy!
They are! So glad we are able to travel here. And in the alps isolation basically happens of its own accord…
I am seriously jealous. I miss not seeing any mountains this year.
Hope you get to go again soon.
Gorgeous sunny day here, even if it is Monday again. ???
SOTD = back in Le Labo Ylang 49 EdP.
Glad for you you’re having great weather today. You must like that Le Labo quite a bit, I don’t have any because of their prices
I got a free sample of it at Nordies when Neyronrose and I had a perfume meetup in King of Prussia, PA. It’s been hitting the spot lately, but I don’t think it could fit into my perfume budget. The showergel might be an option, though…
Gosh, things were so different last summer…
I had a lot of fun learning about perfumes that day, so it’s a nice memory.
I did end up getting a bottle of Diptyque Eau Rose a few weeks later, and a couple of AERIN travel sprays, and a few LUSH solid perfumes. I may have gotten a solid perfume at the time — maybe the Cardamom Coffee?
I know I got a couple of wash cards from LUSH, since I figure that’s the cheapest way to get a fairly thorough idea of what one of their fragrances smell like. When the entire bathroom smells like whichever mix of herbs or woods or fruit or flowers for a few hours, I find it pretty easy to tell if I’d like wearing it for that amount of time.
Things are both very different, and yet the same. There are still some long term family things that I am dealing with. And yet, crossing the river into PA seems like a huge venture now.
It was a fun day, wasn’t it? ?
It’s amazing, even if not fantastic, how fast the Mondays keep coming.
yes yes to ylang ylang. You smell beautiful.
Thank you! Ylang ylang is perfect for the summer, isn’t it?
Nice. I am finishing up my taxes. I am determined to drop off my envelopes tonight!
Yay you for getting taxes done and those envelopes mailed!
SotD = Luctor et Emergo
I struggle and emerge.
As a descendant of Dutch folk (though not Zeelanders) I adore the name. And I am enraptured with this perfume. The cherry note leans a little to almond on my skin which makes me swoon. It’s beautiful. Thank you to springpansy for sharing it in the splitmeet.
Patrick Stewart, happy birthday, Sir! He’s the only celebrity I encountered in NYC that made me stare and want to follow. So charming in person.
Love the passionflowers up top today. I have passionflower seeds sprouting in a little pot by my front door. I hope they survive, I would like to train a passionflower vine up the lattice on my front porch. It would give balance to the lattice on the other end of the porch which is covered in pink jasmine vines.
And the little passionflower seedlings remind me that I can do hard things. About a month ago I had to take my car to the dealer for a recall repair (Takata airbags yada yada yada). The dealer was supposed to have a loaner car for me to take home rather than me waiting 4 hours for the repair. The loaner had a flat tire. They offered to shuttle me home in their van. No thank you, not with a bunch of other people!
So I walked home. It took an hour and fifteen minutes. But it was a good excuse to walk on the river trail which passes the horse stables where I rode as a child. And there was a passionflower vine growing on one of the fences. So I carried one of the ripe fruit home and harvested the seeds. I hope someday to have flowers like this:
https://images.app.goo.gl/BAygjjCsz9G7XjMD6
What a lovely story, tiffanie
though I am sorry about the car troubles.
thank you, Koyel!
the car is all good now, it was an easy and free fix.
I am dreading getting my car serviced. Soon!
I know, right!?!? I feel like I have a target with dollar signs all over it that’s painted on my forehead every time I take my car in for service.
Passionfruit are delicious!
agree!
super yummy
I am all over this CP! Now, what shall it be? Jorum Studio, Chris Rusak, Chatillon Lux, OK Fine?
Heh, I expected you to chime in on Chris Rusak and Jorum Studio ?
SOTD is BF Unsettled. My sample pack arrived today and that was the first scent I tried. My fears about the pineapple note were unfounded and it morphed into the rich sandalwood I love.A note on the sample packs-they have lovely packaging and graphics.Such a nice mail surprise!
Hooray! What other BF scents did you get?
Vetiverissimo and Ummagumma which I haven’t tested yet.It was hard to pick 3.
Ummagumma gets lots of love here at NST. ?
I’d like to try the whole line eventually. Big lover of both Ummagumma and Au Dela Narcisse. When I wear either and post it on my IG account, I always get a response from the BF team, which is fun!
I love Unsettled, need another bottle!
More sample fun today, and points for a couple of them.
SOTM = Chloe Nomade, Phlur Ameline.
SOTA = Essential Parfums Nice Bergamote
SOTE = Bruno Ummagumma. Ohmygoodness should be the name of that one. Yummm!
Dinner is taco meat over crushed tortilla chips with cheese and Greek yogurt on top. And a beer. ? Fancy!
Your dinner kinda sounds like a variant on Frito Pie…
It is a very close relative! ?
I got sour cream and then wanted to use it up before it went past its due date. I got frozen latkes (potato pancakes), defrosted them, and used the sour cream on some, and applesauce on others. When we had tacos, I put sour cream in them. And I got baked potatoes yesterday to finish up the sour cream.
Mom and Dad helped out with eating the potato pancakes and putting sour cream on their tacos. lol
I’m in MFK APOM today because I needed something light and uplifting due to both our weather and my mood. I had something of a meltdown last night after finding out that several of my friends are sick now, and was awake until 4:30 a.m. I think they’ll be ok but one is in a family that is all positive and her father is in the hospital with breathing issues. Two other good friends are self-quarantining after learning that someone they have been in contact with has tested positive. There seems to be a horror movie atmosphere here with the Thing or Creature creeping closer. A bright spot, perhaps, is that a friend who runs a small business has heard the governor will lock things back down tomorrow after the polls close for voting.
I’m so sorry to hear about your friends Calypso. Hugs.
No wonder you had a meltdown! Hope your frriends will be okay.
I think I said last week how I felt like we were living in strange and scary times. *hugs*
Oh no! Healing thoughts for your friends and their family and comfort to you that you’ll get through this setback.
Oh that’s so scary! I hope everyone makes a full recovery
Oh gosh I am so very sorry ST. I really hope your friends get well and special prayers for your more sick friend. I can’t blame you, I would react the same. How quickly things change.
I am sending you a hug. Stay strong. They need your support.
Yikes, scary for sure. That’s the insidious thing about this virus- people look well, have no symptoms, and yet are contagious, with an incredibly confusing scope of deleterious outcomes for infected people. I have been “staying home” since March. I don’t get close to anyone outside of work because getting close to people at work is scary enough. Don’t let anyone, friends or not, in your house or in your car. I know this old news, but it’s against human nature to voluntarily isolate, and hard to do for any length of time. I think of everyone as the peanuts character Pig Pen, and instead of carrying around a cloud of dirt, they’re carrying around a cloud of covid. Universal Covid Precautions. Sometimes it helps to scream into a pillow. Be safe!
Yes, it feels like a horror movie indeed. Sending healing prayers for your friends to have a speedy and complete healing.
I had a couple of days of not going out last week, and then Saturday involved a morning grocery store run and trying to figure out taxes. Doing taxes continued on Sunday, and I did a line editing job in the evening. I didn’t feel like talking to anybody! State taxes went out in the mailbox on Friday or Saturday, and local taxes went out this morning, so I feel better. I’m hoping the federal taxes went through online, but I can print that out and stick it in the mail tomorrow if online didn’t take.
Today, Mom and I picked up some books we’d put on hold at the library. I have a feeling that Mom’s going to start reading the historical romance novels by Tessa Dare that I checked out for myself. I’m kind of thinking that it’s still better than the times she appropriated my Kindle for days.
I wasn’t planning to work in the yard, but I thought it felt cooler in the evening, and I’d been wanting to put hardware cloth around more of my plants, to protect them from deer or groundhogs or what-have-you. Dad said he’d seen deer in the back yard yesterday. I ended up using all 25′ of the hardware cloth, although things may get rearranged next time it gets relatively cool out.
As far as how the garden is growing, ‘Mme. Isaac Pereire,’ a Bourbon rose, has some buds again. That’s one of my favorite fragrant roses. The ‘Maid of Orleans’ jasmine is still loving the warm weather, and has flowers open, and lots of buds. The daylilies that we fenced in with hardware cloth in the spring are blooming nicely.
*Hugs and love*

I was so excited to pick up library books last week, but turns out they are already discontinuing curbside pickup because they are letting people in the library now. Boo, back to kindle for me! Luckily I do not have to share the device with anybody.
Mom and I don’t mind going into the library to get our books on hold. It’s much easier than trying to find an available curbside time slot. And the library has been fairly well adapted so the circulation desk staff has a decent amount of plastic between themselves and the library patrons. Mom is happier with her paperback romances and cozy mysteries than trying to use a Kindle, though she did like being able to change the font size if needed.
I caught a squirrel stealing ripe blackberries off our cane over the weekend. That little furry-tailed rat! Half of the ripe ones were gone before I decided to pick the others. ?
Darn those squirrels! That’s how I think of them, too — as rats with furry tails. Squirrels are much more specialized in body build for arboreal life, but otherwise they seem much like rats to me! They’re sure opportunistic when it comes to food!
Forgot to mention what fragrance I put on in the evening — Hermes Eau d’Orange Vert. I guess I’ll take negative points for Hermes not being a new company. LOL
While I was wrestling the hardware cloth around to try to protect a lily from being eaten, I could smell the fragrances of the lemon balm and bee balm in the area where I was wrestling. The red-flowered bee balm I have has leaves that smell rather like oranges. I think the Eau d’Orange Vert was an attempt to keep the citrus theme going.
