Happy Almost-Friday and happy Global Beatles Day. Birthdays: George Orwell, James Meredith, Carly Simon, Anthony Bourdain. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm trying out Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Hot Masala. It's every bit as soothing and delicious as Jessica said it would be.
Reminder: on 6/26, wear a perfume by Une Nuit Nomade, Ulrich Lang, Vilhelm Parfumerie or Vero Profumo if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letters U or V.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am really tired today.
More coffee please..
I went out for my first drink outside the home in over 4 months. Interesting.
You smell marvelous!
Thank you! Thank you!
The more I see your SOTD, the more it confirms we’re pretty much scent twins.
It’s so good in the heat, will wear it soon
You smell super good.
One of the outdoor bars?
Yes, you can also sit and eat outside, but I was there only for the wine and the company of my friend
So, what did you drink?
Buon Giorno L2SG!
Cristalle EdT for me today.
Almost twins today…
? Ah! I see you now!
You smell even more amazing than I do! ??
I got tested for covid because I have a cough, fever, congestion + exposure but I don’t have it, thank goodness. Just a nasty cold. I’m sitting here gathering up my energy to take a shower and will wear Bas de Soie afterwards, Portia has a lovely review on Perfume Posse today. My neighbor has a blooming tree right outside my porch that smells wonderful through the open windows, I wish I knew what kind it is – the colloquial name is Tree of Heaven.
Hope your cold passes!
It suvks that you have a cold but great news you don’t have Covid. I think that I have a decant of Bas de Soie. I will have to look and if I do, I will try it.
Feel better soon!
Bas de Soie was my perfume yesterday. I always think of it as very elegant.
Today I’m wearing AG Nuit Etoilee.
Oh, what a good idea to wear NE.
You smell great. Feel better soon!
Hope you get well soon – being sick of any type is no fun.
Feel better soon!
Do you mind me asking what was your “exposure” that you mentioned?
A friend of ours cut my husband’s hair. We were outside on a deck with a fan blowing, and we all were wearing masks, but she and I sat in her car and talked for a few minutes afterwards. She tested positive for covid a few days later at her job. The state health dept contacted my husband and I a few days after that, so we have been quarantined ever since, then I was showing symptoms so my doctor sent me to get tested. But I don’t have it and I’m feeling better so yay! Thank you all for the well wishes.
Ick, nothing worse than a summer cold. I hope you feel better soon!
Thankfully just a cold, wishing you speedy recovery
Summer virus is no fun.
Hope you feel better soon.
Is this the tree? Smells nutty?
No although I’ve seen the tree in the link around here. My neighbor’s tree has big clusters of teensy cream colored flowers about 10″x10″ and they smell like privet hedge, clover and honeysuckle on steroids. They’re also covered in bees due to that powerful scent, which is lovely wafting on a breeze.
Not to dump cold water on you but I would worry about false negatives, they do occur and it could be a problem. I don’t know how feasible it is to be really-tested, but I would, given you were exposed and now have symptoms. Best to ask your doctor.
I wondered about that. Truthfully though, I feel better today and no fever.
Hope that you are feeling better ASAP!
Feel Better Ringthing!
I will check out her review ?
I am wearing Theorema today. Woke up in it and don’t want to stop wearing it. I am trying to sit on my hands and not bite with the STC sale going on. I have too many bottles and decants as it is but too many perfumes to try.
You smell wonderful – Theorema is great.
It is. I have no clue why Fendi discontinued it.
That is a question for the ages, isn’t it? Why are so many great perfumes discontinued? I know in some cases it’s because ingredients are deemed allergens or they become impossible to source. Everything about Theorama is wonderful including the awesome bottle.
I so love the bottle too.
I’ve recently acquired a few of the Hermessence 4ml samples, and today I’m trying Épice Marine. I’m not sure what to say about it. It is definitely marine, but I’m not getting the spices. I don’t know if I like it or not. It isn’t love right off the bat.
Not my favorite Hermessence…
That one was a definite Noooooooooooooo on me.
Yes! Big time No here as well. And I was so excited about it.
I’m wearing VP Mito- fits with the community project and smells great!
You smell great! I think of weary whatever is left in my Mito sample tomorrow.
Scent of 5am: NV Pichola. After so many years it is still a scrubber on me. To the good-bye pile it went to give company to Carnal Flower.
Post shower I am wearing Amouage Opus VIII. I forgot how much I love this scent. I need to wear it more often.
I took a 20 minute walk to the nearest McDonald’s very early this morning. I had been craving for a caramel frap and an egg mcmuffin. Not a healthy option, but after so many months it was nice going inside, ordering and heading to the park to enjoy my breakfast. It gave me some sense of normalcy and the streets were very quiet at that time. Now, back to work.
Egg McMuffin – yum!
Not sure I’ve met anyone yet who doesn’t like Carnal Flower. Even my husband likes it although his name for it isn’t Carnal Flower but basketball, lol.
Lol! More “basketball” for your husband available, then.
That mcmuffin was tastier than ever! ??
I’m with p67 on Carnal Flower (to be fair, I don’t like any tuberose perfumes).
I don’t like Carnal Flower
No tuberose for me either.
Same here, Undina, tuberose for me only in supportive role, I had to look for gardenia perfumes without it, it overpowers everything imo.
I’m not a fan of CF, either. Way too much for me. Tubereuse Criminelle is the only tuberose I can wear….so far…..
I have never had an egg McMuffin. I know they’re supposed to be great though. Glad you were able to appease the craving.
It is actually a balanced meal by itself!
You are not missing anything great. There is better junk food for sure, but once in a blue moon I just go for it ?
They are like canned asparagus — their own flavor / texture combination that has no relationship to the food items they are made off. I love them, have not had one in probably 7 or 8 years.
Exactly how I feel about canned asparagus
I loved canned asparagus as a kid!
I positively adore Opus VIII! You smell divine! It’s such a deep and complex fragrance. Have you ever read Kafkaesque’s review of it? It’s brilliant. Maybe that will be my SOTD too!
Thank you! Kafkaesque’s review is the best I have read so far on Opus VIII. It is indeed a very beautiful fragrance that develops continuously in a very unpredictable and astounding way. It surprises and delights me every time I wear it. I am glad I rescued my decant from the back of my cabinet. It will get lots of use now.
I love many of the early Amouage scents, but I fear I’ve never really given the Opus’ a fair shot. I’m turned off by the naming! I can’t keep them in mind, never remember which ones I’ve spritzed, and of course, I’ve only ever tried them on a perfume counter somewhere, since the samples are expensive and can be difficult to come by. I’m sure I’m missing out on something, but for now they all blend together for me.
I am in absolute love with many of the Amouage early scents because they are much better and more complex than the latest releases. I have small decants of some of the Opus and they are all beautiful. I love the brand and like you I wish they were not so expensive.
I splurged on a full bottle of it!
Really? I love Pichola. The nose knows what it needs!
Unfortunately, so far I have not been lucky with any of the NV scents, except for Bombay Bling.
I gave up McDonald’s ages and ages ago as part of a deal with myself that I could eat/drink fast food as long as it wasn’t from the BIGGEST chain – aka no McDo and no Starbucks.
But I have the BIGGEST nostalgia for their breakfast offerings.
Your post legit gave me such vicarious satisfaction, thank you for sharing!
No Starbucks for me at all and McDonald’s very few times a year. I tried my best to stay away from junk food in general, but gosh! sometimes I succumb to temptation! (especially sweets) ?
Haven’t had one in forever, but I adore an Egg McMuffin lol! Glad you had an enjoyable morning!
It was very satifying!
You probably won’t go back for awhile, but the spicy chicken pancake sandwich is really good!
Oh my! Sounds good! I will keep it in mind for next time.
I’ve occasionally thought about getting a Big Mac. It’s hasn’t blown up into a craving yet, though.
“It” hasn’t! Sheesh.
Big Mac! Yum!
Hard to believe Bourdain is gone 2 years already. What a loss.
No fragrance just yet but heading in that direction! Slow going this morn. Slept in and still easing into work (nice benefit of working from home).
PB&J on toast for breakfast (burnt the first piece of toast, not a smell that delights!) and creamy, cinnamon-laced coffee.
Neighbors in the apt. above us are moving out so dealing with lots of unpleasant noise today. Nice family but they had no control of their 2 kids so I’m not sad to see them go. Let’s see who moves in next :/
I watched Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent on Netflix the other night. I think this is Bourdain’s last completed project. Really worth watching if you haven’t already.
Thank you! I’ll add it to my list.
Oh! I need to watch that. His Stars restaurant was simply wonderful…a joy to go there. I don’t think I’ve ever been at a restaurant that radiated more vibrant energy.
Although I think my husband would rank Les Halles right up there with it.
Les Halles! Miss that restaurant so much.
Stars was a lot of fun to go to!
Hmm.. with my two kids I wonder what my neighbors think of me
Hey, it’s apt living so we all get one has to deal with noises — dogs, kids, music – it’s OK.
Usually that you’re amazing people for bringing up little ones!
Mr. Teebear and I used to live directly below a family with two kids and on Easter they would always give us a tiny gift basket as “thanks for putting up with the noise.” TRUST, the college kids that moved in afterwards were far noisier! At least they understood when we explained to them that their Dance Dance Revolution parties sounded like the apocalypse from our apartment.
Yup, when I was an apartment dweller, the single mom and three kids below me were better neighbors than the young professionals before them. Noisiest time was bath time, which apparently was an anacceptible chore to one of them, but then it would be done and quiet most evenings after that. Much better than unpreditable dance music blaring into the wee hours of the night and fears they’d fall asleep with candles burning.
Hmm.. with my two kids I wonder what my neighbors think of me
New neighbors! I am with you in anticipation. My next door neighbor moved away last weekend. We are not sad. 15 years of noise, noise, noise. 2 kids (one a delight, one… oh so not, and guess which one kept moving back home after ‘growing up’), and 5 untrained dogs. After 15 years of getting cujo’d every time we set foot on our back deck, we are so enjoying the peace and quiet. Hoping the new owners are more pleasant! (or at least have far fewer dogs)
Wow. I can’t imagine a landlord or landlady allowing that many dogs anywhere I’ve rented before. We had trouble finding a place that would accept three cats.
No landlord — the neighbor owned the house. We’re looking forward to new owners next door
The loss of Anthony Bourdain is a huge. I enjoyed his shows, and felt he connected with folks he interviewed.
If you like travel and food shows, Padma Lakshmi has a new Hulu series called Taste the Nation.
In honor of Juneteenth, I think the episode on the Gullah Geechee people of S. Carolina is free for everyone.
I wore Un jardin après la moussin
But most of it is gone after 9 hours
working in a hot room on a hot day.
I have a cooler but its still not very comfortable.
For the instagrammers among us,
Hiram Green and Francesca Bianchi are doing a double interview tonight at 9 PM CET
Mousson, not moussin haha.
I blame the heat ?
9 (nine) hours wasn’t a typo? Do the most of perfumes in your collection perform better (under any circumstances)? I’m impressed
Oops i think i phrased that in a wrong way.
It did not last 9 hours on me, but i had a 9 hour workday and the scent slowly disappeared somewhere along the way… (I think i get a 4-6 hour wear out of it, still not bad)
I feel much better! Because with a 9-10 hours working with most of my perfumes I also get 4-6 hours without re-application.
You smelled great while it lasted!
I’m late commenting but every time I see this perfume name, my poor brain changed it to Mouton and I shudder inwardly.
Just yesterday,I saw an email with the headline “Westco Combats Cyber Security” and I read it S Wombat Cyber.
SOTD: Nuit Etoilee.
I’ve been too busy to log in and comment recently, but did read some comments late at night.
So this is for Marjorie Rose on the Jude the Obscure David Austin rose: I have one too! And though it is not a cut rose at all (mine just sheds its petals the moment when you cut the stem), the fragrance really is the best ever. Rose plus something citrusy like the smell of a blood orange when you cut into it. Good recommendation for rose lovers.
You smell nice. After a while, I grew to appreciate this perfume (initially, I bought it for the bottle).
Hello! Yes, I agree the flowers on the Jude the Obscure rose do not last long as a cut flower. But boy are they magnificent to bury a nose into! I agree there’s something fruity to the fragrance, but I wouldn’t have thought of a blood orange (I rarely have them in my kitchen). Maybe I should buy more blood oranges, because I love the scent!
No points today, wearing Atelier Cologne Jasmin Angelique.
Still, it’s a nice summer scent. So, you win
I like the stingy green aspect it has
Cartier L’Heure Défendue. The quality of ingredients in this always amazes me. Cocoa and orris butter.
I wonder if you’d recognize it if you smell a fresh bottle today. I don’t know anything about it but most companies have cheapen formulas after the initial release, so I would be pleasantly surprised if Cartier hadn’t.
Undina, I had no idea companies did that! Good to know…
Vilhelm Veek has been ongoing. Tuesday was Basilico & Fellini (fig and crisp crunchy green-ness), Wednesday was 125th & Bloom (rose and leather and BUCKETS of galbanum), today is Purple Fig (fig and cypress and a little citrus).
Be well, all!
“Veek” – lol. 125th & Bloom sounds right up my alley, and gotta love the name Basilico & Fellini.
You might like Morning Chess then. It’s similar to 125th & Bloom (which was apparently previously called Harlem Bloom, dunno why the name change). But not as loud on the galbanum. And no rose.
Oh, even better – I’m not big on rose generally. Will check Morning Chess out – thanks!
My sis and I call work – vork. and welcome is velcome. we have been doing it since we were kids. It made me smile to see veek.
Vilhelm perfumers must like vig a lot. We’re house twins today and guess what Dirty Velvet has in spades? ?
Yeah they sure do. I have 4 Vilhelm’s that feature fig as a main note: Dirty Velvet, Colette, Basilico, and Purple Fig.
I’ve never tried any of the Vilhelm perfumes, but they sound interesting – more to add to the list!
Hello all – my SOTD is Patou’s Eau de Patou, the vintage formulation. To my nose, this is very similar in the citrus/chypre family to O’ de Lancome, and Chanel’s Cristalle.
Very difficult to get out of bed today, after two cups of coffee, I could return to bed. Ahhh, need to get my butt going here!
I had a similar problem this morning but mostly do to the wine I drank last night and the joys of being a woman once a month
Oh, I hear ya. We get to have *all* the fun, don’t we??
I have chronic problems with low-levels of potassium, magnesium, and zinc.
If I drink Pedialite, it helps immensely with hydration and energy. My GI team recommended it because it has half the sugar of Gatoraid and more balanced electrolytes.
I am having a coke with ice with a slice of pizza. Probably not helping! But I wasn’t in the mood to make lunch and the kids are always happy with pizza. HA!
Oh thanks for the ear worm (saying stomach worm didn’t feel as appetizing…).
I have a fresh bag of pepperoni and newly purchased garbanzo bean flour, could make a mini pizza today for lunch!
I’ve been experimenting with different types of gluten-free flours to make gluten-free crackers and GF pizza crust. The clear winner is a mix of cassava, garbanzo bean, and buckwheat flours.
The crackers (I add cheese, because, the more cheese the better) are easy to make and don’t last long in our house.
I used to make “homemade Gatorade” for a line chef I worked with when he’d had a bit too much the night before–watered-down orange juice (sometimes made with sparkling water to help with tummy trouble) and a shake or two of table salt. He thought I was crazy the first time I made it, but afterwards started to ask for it.
It works! I tend to say “it puts the air back in yer tires”…
I feel you on that one! I don’t know if it’s something you’ve looked into but I have always had a heavier/longer shark week and am chronically vitamin D deficient as I work indoors/live in Canada/am the color of fish belly and avoid the sun.
I always thought “eh, what difference could it make? It’s been that way all my life!” but finally this past winter I said “okay, fine let’s take some vitamin D.”
Without changing anything else diet/lifestyle wise my period got a LOT shorter/lighter. Apparently there are in the last few years some studies confirming that vitamin D can help regulate long/irregular menstrual cycles. Just mentioning because no doctor or pharmacist had ever said anything to me!
This is good to know! Thanks for writing this
LLOL, I laughed at the ‘color of fish belly’ comment. I’ve never heard that one!
Yes, I’m chronically low in vitamin D (malabsorption issues), I always get a lecture from my doctors about my levels….
I wish someone would have told me that about Vitamin D ages ago!
I realllly wanted to stay in bed this morning. I was sleeping so good.
KellyC, I hit the snooze four times! Something I never do.
I tossed and turned all night, and probably finally fell asleep around 3 AM– alarm went off at 6 so I could be showered and alert for a webinar at 7. Was. Then noticed that I’d mixed up my times and the event was to start at Noon EST, so 9 AM here. . . . I think you might have heard my groan!
Oh no! ?
SOTD is OJ Woman. Haven’t worn it in a while, and man is it gorgeous. Today and tomorrow will contain first outings in months to places other than skulking, off-hours visits to my company’s offices — one is my first in-person pilates session (which will be with masks and my own props), and the other is a long-needed haircut appointment (also with masks and not nearly as much chatting as I would like). Even though I know both venues’ ownership/management is extremely fastidious and careful, I have to admit I’m a little nervous. :O
Good luck SheriG, hope you get through both activities safely!
You smell amazing, Sheri! Good luck on your outings. I hope they are reassuring and enjoyable as possible.
Good luck! Try and enjoy your activities. You smell marvelous.
One down! The pilates session went great (even though my tension was probably visible from space), and it was wonderful to see my coach in person instead of on a zoom screen.
Annick Goutal Mandragore Pourpre is my SOTD.
I have not worn Mandragore in ages, thanks for the reminder.
Volutes today after shower. Still working not furloughed, so that’s good.
have slept five nights in a row its kind of wonderful.
I don’t think I ever sleep well five nights in a row – good for you!
Great on both fronts – work and sleep. And you smell great!
CdG Kyoto sample today for calm. I’m working then planning to walk over to a pharmacy (about 1.5 miles away for the exercise) to get my second of the two series shingles vaccine. I didn’t feel well for two days after the first one back in February, so I’m not looking forward to it, but want to get it completed!
DSH Hot Masala sounds intriguing!
wow, I have been waiting for almost two years to get shingles vaccine.
plus you smell great!
Good luck with the shot!
SOTM is Sunday, which I bought a sample of after Jessica’s review. The first blast is pretty sweet to my nose, but I’m also liking the weird milky-tumeric-rice notes–Like if horchata were made by someone from India. (I know that tumeric isn’t listed as a note, but I’m not getting matcha, which I think of as very grassy and green. Maybe it’s the cinnamon plus matcha that’s translating as curry-like to me?)
I really like Sunday. I like Saturday a bit better.
Sampling two more from Essential Parfums…Orange X Santal and Mon Vetiver…which are both more enjoyable than the two from yesterday I tried…Rose Magnetic and The Musc.
I am kind of a sucker for discovery sets and coffrets…especially if they are sprays.?
The sulky soiree is pretty much over…I am now in bitter bash or hostile happy hour mode where I am feeling more anger/frustration and less sadness as I contemplate the universe. All fine stages of grief I suppose.
I love this new terminology!
Oh, I like your new terminology!
Around here, it’s kinda like Whatever-Wednesday or F-it Friday (Robin, delete if it’s exceeding the NC-17 guidelines).
???! I like the naughty one!
Nope, so long as you didn’t spell it out, it’s fine. In moderation.
I find anger much more satisfying than sadness.
I saw a book today at the library curbside pickup called “rage baking”….
Well, stages of something. Hopefully tomorrow will be feel betta’ Friday!
Wearing copious amounts of Chanel No. 19 edt today. It’s been a crazy week so I need to focus.
I will have to check my stash for CP compliant scents; tomorrow is thankfully my day off!
You smell wonderful! Hang on in there – it’s almost your day off (and Friday for the rest)!:)
Friday day off twins! Hope it’s restful for us both!
Friday off triplets!?
Chanel No. 19 is right for so many occasions! You smell marvelous!
You smell super good!
No. 19 EdT is on my full bottle wish list!
Kyse Pêche au Yuzu today. I like this. The peach is very strong at first, but blends with the other notes after a few minutes.
I think I timed my haircut just right. I’ve turned the corner into irritatingly shapeless, so I’ll be happy to get it cut next week.
This one is a little too much peach for me (but I’m not a fan of this note in get), but otherwise it’s very nice. I liked yuzu in it (I’m going through many yuzu perfumes for the post I’m working on).
I’m in a peach phase, so it works for me. Although, the peach has reappeared a bit stronger all of a sudden. Maybe I should spray Allure on top… ??
I think Yuzu may be having it’s moment in the perfume community, everything seems to have it lately.
New to me. I like peach, if it actually smells like peach and not like car air freshener fako-peach. Off to google it!
Peach is a difficult note for me… so far, I think the only perfume with peach that has worked is Mitsouko.
Welp. I may end up buying a full bottle of Eau de Protection, should a good price come along. I have all these lovely new decants, yet my hand stole over to the clunky Royalty Scents decant of this ELDO. Like a great bubble gum back in the day, the first few minutes of EdP is a blast—and I keep reapplying for the thrill!
I sampled that one a long time ago, and remember that I really liked it. You smell great.
Florabotanica from a decant. It’s nice, but why I am debating a bottle, just because it’s discontinued. It’s not that good…
The boyfriend was finally dismissed today and is in relatively good condition. I think he will now love me even more after all the sad meals in hospital, because of my cooking. Zucchini and meatball gratin for dinner.
What a super dinner.
Glad to hear he is back home!
Yes to, “I think he will now love me even more after all the sad meals”! Made me smile. With some regularity I tell my husband that once he tastes my dinner, he will love me even more. Good meals are like glue, love glue!
Discontinued things are more alluring to me as well. Glad he was released and save some gratin for me please.
Glad he’s getting discharged and yay for home-cooked deliciousness! That meal sounds wonderful.
I’m so glad to hear he’s home, that’s great news!
The bottle is very nice. I don’t like the juice but I was able to persuade an SA to give me the empty tester. She wasn’t supposed to ?.
And glad the boyfriend is home and in good shape.
Hospital food is wreched. I don’t know how they think anyone can heal on that stuff. I am certain boyfriend will be deeply appreciative of your cooking, and it will help him get better quicker!
Your dinner sounds wonderful. So glad your boyfriend is home.
Good to hear hear your boyfriend is home.
Great news! Thanks for the update! ?
Crazy busy at the store today, I will be so happy to have tomorrow off.
Sotd is Bottega Veneta. Thanks to a lovely swap. I love it so much!
Love Bottega Veneta, I have a bottle of the Eau de Velours, a variation with added plum. Glad Friday is your weekend. Do you have Saturday too?
Unfortunately, it will be a long time before I see another Saturday off.?
Tomorrow is definitely going to be Fri-YAY! for you! Isn’t that Bottega Veneta gorgeous?
A total desert island scent for me. Assuming I could have at least ten desert island scents, lol!
Or 20! ??
We’re having a heatwave, 32 or 33 Celsius today, but there is a breeze and it will be over by tomorrow, so I’m not complaining. In Miller Harris Tea Tonique today, a great refresher.
Heat waves seem to be over alot quicker than cold snaps.
Ah, true, here there are definitely short and usually end in thunderstorms.
Your temperatures are the same as what I have been experiencing. But there are plenty more for me in store. I don’t mind… that’s actually not too bad for summer temps.
Enjoy your spell of good weather. We’re going to get some nice thunderstorms tomorrow or a bit later!
SJP Lovely for my Friday.
My college daughter got a job yesterday.? She’s been looking for awhile since the job that she had lined up as camp counselor isn’t happening. I’m sure it’s not her dream job but we’re just happy in this covid economy she found something.
So glad she found something.
Any job is better than no job. Once you have a job, you can start looking for a better one.
Good for her!
Glad she found a job in these strange times! It’s been my experience that the less than great jobs make you grateful for the really good ones when they do come along.
Congrats for your daughter getting a job! Hope that she stays safe doing it.
My son has two camp counseling gigs this summer that are both online. He said the first one was very uneven. He wound up doing a lot of origami with the kids. The second gig, next week, is the same session that my younger son is “attending” the “camp.” So, each boy in their own bedroom, on their computers, together at camp. . . it’s a brave new world, or something.
I am not sure I have anything to fit the project tomorrow, I’ll have to search when I get home.
I’m in TF Soleil Blanc today and it’s just right!
Smelling great KellyC!
The wind is blasting through the trees and I am sitting up in bed with my wool beanie pulled down over my ears to muffle the noise. Perks of being older:wearing hats and scarves in the house, very badgeresque ( Wind in the Willows). Yesterday, rocked the crowd with the perfume playlist ( add one perfume in this order, every hour or so…or whenever and enjoy) : vierge de fer, songes, sotto la luna tuberose, CDG cinnamon, boucheron, twilly, ambre des merveilles, ambre extreme , al oudh…and sleep! Encore today with a new set list beginning with Mr Li …..
That’s a lot of perfume
What do you think of al oudh?
I was thinking of Mito EdP for today, but I’m wearing a brown skirt and Tobacco Vanille seems just right.
Pleasant weather today, despite having a cloudy sky here. ⛅?
I went to my local grocery store earlier, and I saw 2 people who weren’t wearing face coverings. They had their noses tucked inside their T-shirts, like little kids do when something bad wafts into the air. SMH.
SOTD = back to Rock Crystal EdP. I checked the price of a full bottle, and Yikes! Holy sticker shock! That’s way more than I was expecting.
People are really getting lazy with the masks here. I just went to the gas station and it was very busy, because there is a ice cream shop attached. Counting myself, only about 4 other people had them on.
I managed to haul myself all the way to my mailbox and there was one package of St. Clair Pharaohs Passion with samples of Frost and Eve and a note from Diane.
will give Eve a try tomorrow.
It’s nice how she writes notes by hand, isn’t it? Tell us how you like them. I’m crazy about Eve!
Calypso, if you’re still around, would you please describe Eve? The two that theoretically appeal to me from this line are Eve and Casablanca.
SotD Kiehl’s Original Musk, just right for a reasonably low-key day!
Yesterday’s Fete St-Jean performance was a success! We were running behind schedule, so I didn’t even get to touch my equipment before performing on it – not ideal after 3 months off! But our socially-distanced audience of ~40 from the immediate neighbourhood were so supportive and so happy we’d contributed to their holiday.
Today was just errands and making Vietnamese bun cha and daikon and carrot pickles, so Mr. Teebear and I can have banh mi for dinner.
Hurray for a successful show last night and for banh mi!
I’m in VC&A Orchidee Vanille today. It’s been raining off and on all day, so this is very comforting. It also lasts longer than the others I’ve tried from this house. I decided to hoard the rest of the .7ml sample vial, so this must be serious!
Is the Orchidee Vanille really sweet on you?
It goes through a brief phase that is a little too sweet, but it’s mostly a nice, vanilla skin scent on me, almost a vanilla wood pudding. I’m seriously lemming this thing.
I forgot a SOTD but wanted to recommend to all who are still reading Bourdain’s show “parts unknown”. We were so sad when we finished watching them – I think he actually passed away when filming an episode in Belgium? I particularly like all the episodes with Eric Ripert in them. Tried an episode of a new show with just Eric, but Eric without Anthony is like corn on the cob without chili lime salt. Off to put on some perfume!
I don’t watch enough television to have seen Parts Unknown, but I’ve been tempted to try to get myself to sit long enough to give it a try. Everything I’ve hear, it sounds like my kind of thing. OTOH, I’m hesitant because I know how it ends, so to speak. It’s hard to welcome tragedy into one’s life. . .
It feels more poignant than tragic to me when you watch the show, if that makes sense. Give it a whirl sometime – you don’t even need to watch in order, and some episodes are better than others (loved Georgia, Uruguay, Sichuan, French Alps and Antarctica, felt “meh” about Rome, Greece, and Berlin).
