Posted by Robin on 16 June 2020 17 Comments

Indie line Smell Bent has launched Merida, a new fragrance.

collection: heroine

in a nutshell: a headstrong scot with a talent for archery

notes: bergamot, orange and highland greens, brightened with jasmine and grounded with wood

fun facts: true to her nature, merida is a blend of masculine and feminine notes. merida follows her heart ... wherever it leads her.

Smell Bent Merida is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette, and is currently available for $40 during the brand's annual garage sale (the regular price will be $60). Half of the proceeds will go to the American Civil Liberties Union.

Excellent, it looks like they’re changing their label designs!

The last several scents from SB just haven’t done much for me, I still like the carnation one and Short Fuze. And not to be political but I am not interested in half the money going to the ACLU, so money saved:).

But that is being political, sorry, so let’s not talk about the ACLU, pretty please!

But money saved is always good.

I suppose it was and note taken, however, if I would have said that I loved that the money is going towards this cause/organization..I am thinking it may have gotten a green light…and that is partly political as well I would think but I digress. Next time I will just say, not interested.

Ah, well, I think that might be true because people often do say they are happy some money is going to a charity. Maybe next time if the money is going to a political organization I won’t name the organization then? Or I will specify no comments on the subject.

          Thanks Omega.

Love the sound of the notes… but worried for them over the copyright!

Yeah they’re not notorious for going easy on people who try to step on their brand,

Interesting. To me Merida is a city in Mexico, no idea what Disney has to do with it, and not going to look :-)

I’m loving all this donations-for-purchases that the perfume industry (and many other industries) are heading towards!

Robin, there was a Disney movie called Brave that came out some years ago. The main character’s name was Merida. She was a very strong, I-don’t-need-saving kind of Disney princess :) The descriptors of the scent fit her personality very nicely! The scent sounds lovely, but if I ever get around to exploring SB, I’ll never manage to climb out of that rabbit hole. Too many affordable, well named, yummy-sounding scents.

Thank you Koyel! I did not even know there was a movie called Brave! So you have contributed to my cultural education :-)

LOL! Ok, so presumably that is the main thing I need to know.
