Zoologist Sloth & Bat ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 18 April 2020 13 Comments

Indie Canadian line Zoologist has launched Sloth, a new unisex fragrance, and a new interpretation of Bat. Both fragrances were developed by Prin Lomros of Pryn Parfum.

Sloth ~ "Zoologist Sloth captures the tranquility of this sleepy beast in a soothing green essence. Calming lavender, chamomile, marigold and jasmine combine with the stillness of bittersweet hay and damp moss, stitched together by threads of luscious incense. The result is dreamy and exotic. As it settles on the skin, Sloth carries one up to a place where stresses simply tumble away." Additional notes include acai berry, violet leaf, beeswax, anise, jatamansi, cumin, myrrh, mushroom, vanilla and tonka.

Bat ~ "Zoologist Bat escorts you on an odyssey through the night. This unique olfactory experience carries you with the fruit bat to a sumptuous feast in a lush tropical jungle, before whisking you down to the recesses of its cavernous home. Sweet guavas and passion fruits ensnare you with addictive notes, then beckon you deep with primordial mineral scents that evoke a rugged enclosure redolent with hints of damp soil and vegetal roots." Additional notes include fig, soil accord, hay, incense, mineral notes, night-blooming jasmine, animalic notes, leather, mossy stone, teak and vetiver.

Zoologist Sloth & Bat can be found now at Luckyscent, $165 each for 60 ml Extrait de Parfum.

I loved the original Bat!! Why’d they change it? It is a very strange frag, and I see it not being very conventional but that was part of the appeal.

Sorry, I don’t know the answer. They announced last year that Bat was discontinued but I don’t think they said why.

Zoologist offered to buy the formula from the perfumer who created it, Ellen Covey, but she declined. She’s now producing the formula herself, having changed the name to Night Flyer. (https://orchidscents.com/?product=night-flyer-the-original)

Replying to myself because I just noticed that someone else already answered this. I should read the whole thread before commenting, I see.

I will likely add these samples to my order when I place it at Luckyscent. I think I’m going to buy a couple of sale candles, a bar of Oriza L. Legrand soap, and maybe a nice liquid hand soap as a treat. I also still need to try Bee.

I hope it’s ok to post this here given that I used to work for Olympic Orchids (wow, it’s been almost two years already), but just a week ago Cafluerbon posted about the re-release of the original Bat formula under the OO brand, now named Night Flyer. https://www.cafleurebon.com/olympic-orchids-night-flyer-dr-ellen-covey-the-original-is-back/

I figured fans of the original Bat would be interested in case they missed the news.

Yes, thanks. I’ve still got 3/4 of a bottle and I don’t wear it often (my hubby absolutely hates it) so it’s not like I neeeeed a bottle, but it gives me comfort to know it’s still around?

Sloth! I’ve been waiting for this one! This is the life-mascot of my 14 year old daughter. She and I will have to sample this one for sure.

I was on Roatan in February and we visited a sloth sanctuary. I got to hold a sloth! They are very gentle in spite of the 2-3 inch curved claws. I fell in love, they always look like they’re smiling.

Another one I am interested in but won’t get around to sniffing, likely.

I looked up my email receipt for my Hummingbird travel spray from 2017(someone needs to clean her inbox lol)..it was $35 bucks then..now $45. Price hikes like that are a real turn off.

Geez, looks like they raised their prices on samples on the Z site, they usta be like 5 or 6 bucks a sample. 8 is too much.
