It's perhaps not the happiest of times, but all the same, today is the International Day of Happiness. (Also, the UN French Language Day, World Sparrow Day, and Fred McFeely Rogers' birthday.) Our community project for today: wear the perfume that most reliably increases your happiness.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project. And feel free to tell us about anything at all that made you happy this week!
I'm in Diorissimo (and I begin to suspect that I could come up with a tray of 5 perfumes that would fit every single community project we have done so far that wasn't brand-specific.) I am drinking my morning tea in my Mr. Rogers mug that I paid way too much money for in Richmond earlier this year (I still can't believe I paid that for a mug, and that I have to hand wash it to boot). It makes me happy every time I look at it, even though I wasn't really a Mr. Rogers fan when I was of the age to watch Mr. Rogers. Other things that are making me happy this morning: I finally scored some toilet paper.
Reminder: on 3/27, wear a perfume by Robert Piguet, Rochas, Roger & Gallet or Reminiscence, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter R.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am in Tel Aviv (actually I am the back corner in a drab US office mall, hoping to serve my clients from my under 10 people firm, or going in solo to staff the phones in isolation for as long as possible).
Back to the scent. This has a bouncy, rather fruity scent,(not mid-eastern fruits). I have tried three whole sprays to see how it lasts.
A safe way to travel 🙂
Stay safe Dilana.
Stay well, Dilana!
I love that perfume!!
I am so so so grateful to anyone trying to continue to work onsite during this time–but am hoping no huge risks will be taken. Stay safe.
I have clients who have more problems with the pandemic. I want to help. Plus there are some things about running a business (like signing and picking up checks) that have to be done physically.
I am being more careful than some people at home. I was shocked by a yesterday report in the NYT that talked about putting on mascara and some other make up while working at home. I understand wanting to feel professional and want to cheer oneself up, but keep the hands from the eyes and lips. Besides, if you get sick, that makeup has to be thrown out.
Spray a little perfume. It even contains alcohol.
“Spray a little perfume. It even contains alcohol.”
That’s my motto for the duration!
My province went on lockdown yesterday, and so everything except the most crucial services is closed, including my workplace. (Supermarkets and drugstores plus a few other places are open, but who wants to go shopping?) Everything is unsettled and vaguely scary: probably like a lot of people, I haven’t been sleeping well. But I’m among the lucky ones: we’ve been laying in a supply of nonperishable food and other essentials over the past month, so we can weather this for quite a while, and my husband is working from home in a sector that’s likely to endure (health insurance, of all things).
Lush recently launched eight new solid scents, and after waffling about it for days, as I always do, I ended up ordering five (four unsmelled, yes, I know that’s bad, no, don’t bother to tell me, they’re cheap and cheerful): they were delivered this very morning, because Canada Post is still up and running, and so I am wearing a hefty smudge of Rose Jam, which reliably makes me happy. It’s so good.
Good for you! The only Lush solid I have is Lush Lust, which is gorgeous as I’m sure is the Rose Jam.
Lust is so ridiculously good that I have both the solid and the spray. It’s intoxicating.
Me too. So good.
I want to know which are the other 4!
Junk (herbal blackcurrant), Pansy (herbal floral), Lord of Misrule (patchouli kablammo), and 1000 Kisses Deep (osmanthus marmalade). And a free sample of Cup O’Coffee face scrub: I’ve never tried any of their skin products because they’re so heavily fragranced but I’ll give this a go, why not?
Please let us know what you think of them. Maybe I need some Pansy, too! ?
I put some Pansy on after scrubbing the hell out of the bathroom (because what better time to do a deep clean of the entire house?) and then showering. Unlike most of the Lush solids, it’s fairly quiet and close to the skin. It’s an indistinct, understated floral with a bit of greenery for bite and a soft creamy-musky underbelly that’s reminiscent of their Cardamom Coffee solid. I think you could wear this with some abandon and not offend anybody.
Thanks, Pyramus, sounds great.
It occurred to me just moments ago that 1000 de Patou is an osmanthus scent and so is 1000 Kisses Deep. Coincidence?
Interesting!
I have a very old travel spray of the Lush 1000 Kisses…I should dig it out. I do know it was inspired by the Leonard Cohen song.
Nice prep job!!!! Those two word summaries of the Lush perfumes are amazing also, thank you for those! “Patchouli kablammo” omg lol.
House twin! I also made a virtual Lush run the other day because of the free shipping at $40. Just shampoo bars and a couple of soaps.
Enjoy your Lushies and stay well!
Rose Jam love! Enjoy your new purchases!
So good too. Scents up your entire bath.
Wearing my wonderful, cheerful and beautiful Vamp à New York. It was a toss between Vamp and Paris for today. In the end Vamp won out, it never fails to lift my mood or make me feel good about myself.
I got some bananas and oranges yesterday, plus my milk, butter milk and cheese! I would have a hard time not having access to cheese.
Glad to hear you got your tp, Robin. Just read Rabelais if you run out 🙂
My tea this morning was a very fancy Assam and have since moved to Marco Polo by MF!
Every store I have been in has had excellent access to cheese, although I wonder if we won’t see a dearth of French cheese eventually?
I think transport is still pretty much running in France, albeit more slowly and cows need milking and the French pretty much make cheese (and yoghurt) of most of their milk. Unlike us, we drink a lot of milk as well.
Oh I know, I just wonder if we won’t eventually see more transport-related disruption. I am not worried about having enough to eat!
Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens with transport in the coming weeks. Also one wonders, if farmers are hit really badly, whether they will start culling their flock.
I hope that my local dairy farm will be allowed to remain open. We’ll see.
Second week of home isolation (sick and coughing) but luckily joined by my cat! Wearing Perris Monte Carlo Absolue d’Ylang ylang as a happy scent these last couple of days.
Oh gosh, hope it’s just a cold!?Happy your cat is keeping you company.
Hope you are better soon Hilde.
Sending healing vibes! Get well soon!
Thanks for self-isolating, Hilde. I know it can’t be fun but you are doing us all a great service. I hope your recovery is swift and total.
Yes! This.
Couldn’t say it any more perfectly! Thank you, and speedy recovery!!!
I hope you feel better very soon, Hilde!
Well wishes for a speedy recovery! Cat snuggles and ylang sound like a good way to beat the isolation blues.
Adding best wishes for your recovery, enjoy your cat too.
Sending you healthy vibes for a speedy recovery.
I hope you feel better soon!
Hope you’re feeling better soon!
Sending good wishes your way. Yes, kitty snuggles are the best!
Feel better soon Hilde!
Hooray for toilet paper! My son sent me this link yesterday that people may (or may not) find amusing. My guess is that most people that hoarded have way too much.
https://howmuchtoiletpaper.com/
Also, I love that mug Robin. If it makes you happy, that’s all that counts.☺️
SotD is Chanel 1932. I love this one. I have a mini, but it will go on my full bottle list when it’s gone.
Mr mt and my college daughter were up early and out of the house headed to her college. She has til Tuesday to pack out of the dorm. Certainly not how she expected it to be, but she seems to be taking it in stride. I stayed home to work on a paper for my class. I would have loved to go along, but I need this quiet to get some work done. My teenager stayed home too, but she’s an introvert like me, loves the quiet and would easily spend 8-10 hours a day reading.?
Hang in there everyone.
That link is funny! But totally inaccurate for my family…I am trying hard to get my boys to use less.
I can’t tell you how much I love this mug, but under normal circumstances I would never have bought such a thing. Was at a family wedding and worried about my Dad at the time (was just about to go visit him before he passed away) so that is my excuse. So long as I had that excuse, I wish I’d bought the Alexander Hamilton mug too, because I really wanted it. I did buy one for my mom but since it’s for a current political figure I won’t say which 🙂
That must be so bittersweet for your daughter, or maybe just bitter…glad she is taking it well. I know you will prefer having her home!
You smell great. I love 1932.
LOVE that link, madtowngirl, made me laugh! thanks for sharing 🙂
I have a friend, she grew up mostly in another part of the world, lived in the US most of her adult life, who thinks it is HILARIOUS that there is a TP problem. She thinks we all need to get over it and think how most of the planet lives day to day.
Hope you enjoy your quiet time and get the homework done easily.
How true. Even in the US there are many who struggle on a daily basis.
That site is hilarious. What crazy times.
Just sit me in a room (6 feet away, of course) with your teen and we could read together all day long!!
Today I am wearing Dune. Probably not my happiest fragrance, but since I am the only one coming to the office, I have been taking advantage of the isolation by wearing whatever the heck I want and no worries about over-spraying. In hindsight, I wish I had worn Fracas. There’s always next week! Best wishes to all – stay healthy & safe.
My husband decided to keep going to the office too, since nobody else will be there anyway. I imagine his version of “wearing whatever the heck i want” will be playing whatever the heck music he wants, as loud as he wants 🙂
I like his style! ?
I once had a dream that I showed up to work and nobody was there. I found the PA system and played AC/DC very loudly all day. Weird. 😉
Dune may not be joyous but it is placid and introspective, and that’s just as good.
You should layer some Fracas on top and see what happens. I mean, you’re holed up, you can’t offend anyone. Maybe it’ll be great!
Now there’s an idea! Could be the olfactory equivalent of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
Now I want some Dune! I need to pick up a new bottle.
I wore Dune yesterday and I agree with Pyramus, it’s a perfect scent for these times. I find it very comforting.
As I’m stuck at home, I’m finding myself drawn to to various “tender veil” perfumes (to borrow a phrase from one of them, Infusion d’Iris). I’m finding things I usually like–powder, florals, sweetness–grating over the day, but still craving that particular low-but-persistent hum feeling. Almost every other day I’ve been reaching for the bottle of SJP Lovely I bought more because it was twelve dollars and seemed like it would be good for the public-perfumes rotation than because I adored it; somehow it’s become my soothing, reliable stalwart. Wearing it very gratefully today.
Interesting, Melisa — soothing and reliable wins?
I quit make up about two weeks ago, even if I am meeting clients. Fortunately, fragrance does not involve rubbing anything in my face. So let’s indulge.
🙂
Good for you! I’m working from home and decided to give my skin a break for a few weeks. Just moisturizers and the like for now. My makeup supplies will last a little longer that way. 🙂
Just out of curiosity and not intended as a criticism at all: Are women expected to wear make up to work in the States?
Controversial issue. Believe it or not that has been litigated. It also differs according to the job: welders, no. Restaurant hostesses unofficially yes, office workers- possible litigation over whether one should wear make up, or one’s choice is to loud.
If you have seen the movie VEEP, there is a scene where an anchor who was once Miss America goes without makeup on air once and her (incredibly sexist, and sexual harassing boss) is horrified.
There’s a scene like that in Bombshell, presumably based on a real incident, in which Gretchen Carlson goes on the air live without makeup and Roger Ailes rips her to pieces over it. It’s genuinely upsetting.
I’ve never seen VEEP, just found some info on Wiki.
I asked because I remember when I was in the States more than 20 years ago that women seemed to wear more make up and wear it more often than I was used to seeing in my own country. Mind you, I was a student then and few of my friends wore any make up at all. Most of the women I work with these days wear a little make up.
I had in intern with me almost 2 weeks ago and she had very heavily made up eyes, and while she was a really nice girl and seemed competent, that bothered me. Which I found an interesting reaction in myself. Apparently I’ve got this deep rooted feeling that doctors should not wear heavy make up, don’t ask my why. Of course I didn’t comment, but I wonder whether any of the older doctors that she has worked with had a similar reaction. It didn’t really affect my opinion of her, as I think she will make a great doctor and would have given her a good reference had I been asked to do so. Still.
Thanks for your answer, and sorry for such a long reply!
I quite make up thirty years ago, (except for lipstick and very, very special occasions). As a performer it was part of the “costume” so once I was off stage it was no make time. It really did save my skin and now, so many years later, my skin looks good even if I do have white hair!! I started early with good cleansing, eye cream and moisturizer and over the years the old habits have paid off.
Carthusia Mediterraneo, which smells happy and carefree.
Oh, lovely choice!
I’m an “almost twin”, but in the end went with another.
You’ve smelled wonderful all week, Glannys!
Thank you! I think I went for citrus most of the time. 🙂
Oohhhhh that’s a beautiful one!
I’m wearing my favorite of the Hermes Jardin series, Un Jardin Sur Le Toit. I like most of the Jardin series (except for Sur la Lagune), but I love this one.
Ah, perhaps I will pull out Sur Le Nil this weekend …
That’s my fave, too….
House twin! You smell great.
Guerlain Vetiver never disappoints in brightening my day!
Nice call.
One of my favorites.
When this project was added to the list a few weeks ago, who knew we would need it so much? I was all set to go with something dark and serious to match my mood. Then I remembered the project and now I’m wearing Diorella and it is a much better idea.
I love Diorella, and yes it’s a very timely CP!
Fracas (extrait)
A wonderful tuberose
From a small decant thanks to a lovely NSTer
So now i can wear bitchy, witchy and beachy ?
Fracas = bitchy tuberose (bitchy in a good way of course ?
Poison = witchy tuberose
Moon bloom = beachy tuberose
Today is my mother’s birthday (who wore Poison in the 80s haha)
I wish I could visit and hug her, but ‘social distancing’ is extra important for someone her age and in her condition.
But I will leave a gift at her house and wave to her from a distance later today.
Happy Birthday to your mom, Jiji! I hope you can meet again soon and celebrate her birthday and many more to come! ?
You are very wise. Happy birthday to your mom!
Happy birthday to your mom, Jiji! I hope you can give her a real hug very soon. ?
I love Fracas! A co-worker friend used to wear it, oddly enough, she received too many compliments so decided it was too obtrusive. She was wrong.
Ha funny hoe that works…”i get too many compliments… Must not wear it anymore…”
I wish my co workers were ballsy enough to wear some Fracas. But most of them do not care about fragrances…. ?
Hoe = how
Sorry!!!! ?
I make those mistakes all the time, esp. when tired. Of instead of or is my most common mistake! ?
Happy Birthday to your mom. I saw a clip of a daughter waving to her dad through a window. Very touching.
I saw something similar that a home hospice RN posted. The ptatient was sitting inside by the window, and his son parked a lounge chair outside the window while they talked to each other on the phone. Made me teary…
Yes it is a touching and also practical solution. People find ways.
My niece and nephew stopped by this morning to sing happy bday to their grandma from the front yard and to decorate the gate with balloons….so sweet ?
Happy Birthday to your Mom; I hope you can visit with her very soon. I’m also a fan of Poison!
I have a mini of the ‘esprit de parfum’…its pretty smooth actually and not as loud as the original.
Happy Birthday to your mom! I hope you’ll be able to celebrate more birthdays together.
sending you and mom hugs, Jiji, and wishing her a happy day. 😀
It was my mom’s 80th birthday Wednesday too, I sent flowers & a card & called as she’s far away. Happy birthday to your mom Jiji!
Happy birthday to your mom as well! ??
And happy birthday to your mom, too! ?
Very happy birthday wishes for your mother!
It’s difficult to celebrate like this but I’m sure your mother will be grateful.
So sweet. She will love that. And it’s a loving decision. What a trying time for our loved ones who are elderly and for us that want to be there with them.
Happy birthday ?to your mom and, hopefully, soon a real hug.
Happy Birthday to your mom!
Happy Birthday wishes to your mom Jiji! And safe hugs via the Internet for you both.
Good morning everybody! Happy Friday! I’m in Bois Sacre, which is so calming and soothing. I’m going to have to find more of this one. ❤️
My happiest fragrance is probably Rhubarbe Ecarlate, but it’s pouring rain outside, so maybe I’ll wear it tomorrow.
A big thanks to Elisa P for the meditation link she posted on Wednesday. I joined in this morning, and it was lovely. ?
Hi Nancy – who makes the Bois Sacre? Sounds interesting!
Arte Profumi!
I don’t know this brand, but these look interesting, thanks.
Hey! I was there too! So glad you joined 🙂 I really like Kathy. She and her husband are both meditation teachers and she recently quit her job working doing jewelry design to full-time teach. Bad timing money-wise, so I’m happy to try and support her.
Anyway, it’s been a good way to start tbe day and notivates me to not sleep too late ?
Has anyone heard from ltsg or cm8? I’m a little worried about those two.
CM8 is doing fine. I have been in touch with her. She is just taking a long break from social media.
Oh, I’m relieved. Thanks for the update, M. I understand anyone wanting to take a break right now.
I’ve been wondering as well…and hoping it’s just a voluntary withdrawal from nonessential media.
Yes, but NST is essential media! ;D
I emphatically agree!
Usually, I’d agree, but if you’re facing a monster, scared to death, and focused on family and loved ones, probably not essential…??♀️
It was a just a feeble joke.
Oh, haha! I’m sorry, I’m probably being overly serious. ?
Thinking tbe same and while clearing out old open tabs. Ede and holyneroli are in my mind, too.
Mine as well.
I will be in Guerlain Herba Fresca, a very recent blind(!) buy that turned out perfectly (enabler pin to PL67). It was between this and Mediterraneo (although all my fragrances make me happy in one way or another). It’s a gorgeous spring day here and I’m determined to remain positive for today, at least. Happy Friday, all!
Oh! I am glad Herba Fresca is working for you! It is such a perfect spring/summer scent. Enjoy it!
It’s wonderful!
Scent twins 🙂
I lover Herba Fresca.
I am determined to be positive too. We broke into some Chocolate Marshmallow Oreos last night that my daughter spied at Target a week or so ago and those helped too. 🙂
Are the brownies gone? 😀
2 left and it was big box of the bite-sized ones… 😉
Do tell more about those Oreos!
they are quite yummy…chocolate filling w/ marshmallows pieces in the cookies..very win-win and reviews I found seem to agree…
https://www.theimpulsivebuy.com/wordpress/2020/01/17/chocolate-marshmallow-oreo-cookies-review/
Happy Friday, springpansy, you smell wonderful!
Great choice!
TGIF! I have been very busy working from home the whole week. I have barely had time to read the comments at night time.
I am wearing Jorum Studio Trimerous. A pretty iris fragrance that makes me feel good and relaxed, especially on this grey, gloomy day.
Last night, I went to see one of my aunts who is 75 years old. I brought some essential things that she needed, since she lives alone. When she opened the door she was dressed so elegant, smelling beautiful, wearing her best jewelry and had the dinner table set up perfectly with a very gorgeous table cloth, candles, wine and very nice food. She asked me to stay with her for dinner. She told me that because of her age she didn’t know if she would survive the virus, even though she is not sick. So she is using and wearing her finest items, drinking a glass of her best wines every night, enjoying every single moment of her life inside the house and very thankful for the life she has lived so far. She is in a very positive and encouraging mood! I hope she stays well!
Have a healthy and peaceful Friday, everyone!
Oh, she sounds lovely. That’s how I want to live my life: enjoying everything and regretting nothing.
We need to stop hoarding and enjoy our life and everything we have. If not now, when then?
May your Aunt have many more years here. What a special person 🙂
Thank you, Barqs! I hope so too!
Such a brave lady!
She is! I wish I could be like her. While I am depressed, she is facing the situation with so much courage and a smile on her face.
We do not all have the same mental make up, so don’t blame yourself. It must have been a treat to spend some time with her.
It was! I really enjoyed it!
How beautiful PL67!
Thank you. Coin-op! She is doing that every day now, even though she is alone. What a great attitude!
Hugs to your aunt! What a great example for us all.
Thank you, Deva! Let’s all be positive!
Oh, I love her. This story fills my heart.
Same. How wonderful!
Your aunt is an inspiration. 🙂
What a gem of a lady!! I hope she manages to stick around so that you get to enjoy her company for longer!
Definitely going Jorum in a hot minute after I shower. Scent cousins!
That’s beautiful, thanks for sharing that! I hope she stays well so she can continue to enjoy herself that way!
That made my day, what a lovely lady she is ❤️
Your aunt is an inspiration, she sounds like a wonderful person!
And also remember to take care of yourself; I hope you are taking your breaks even though you are working from home. Your perfume sounds lovely, of course!
What a beautiful story! Thank you for that, pl67!
Best wishes to your aunt! You should tell her that she impressed and inspired so many people from different parts of the country (or even a World).
Wow, what a great story!
Thanks for sharing ?
cheers to your aunt! and to you for taking time to be with her. 😀
I love this story – so inspiring! We should all try to live like your aunt
Oh wow, this made me cry.
I think your aunt is my hero. Thank you for telling us about her!
I hope you are well, and have found at least a few small moments of happiness in your day.
So touching and such good philosophy.
I love her style! It’s worth remembering to live and enjoy in the present. Why not use the good stuff more often?
Beautiful post, thank you! It brought tears to my eyes, but a sense of peace, too. Hopefully, once this crisis is over, we will all learn to model your aunt’s shining example, to cherish all that we have and live more deeply and fully in the moment. My very best wishes for continued good health for your beautiful aunt.
This made me cry! God bless her.
What a wonderful relationship you have with that aunt, PL67! It’s a treasure.
Your aunt is my idol! A true lady.
Wearing LADDM today. I leave for work in the next hour and a half. It’s so strange that pretty much everything is shut down. Except grocery stores and gas stations.
Stay safe, Dawn. You smell amazing!
fabulous! laddm was one of my choices for today. You smell glorious.
Twin!! LADDM always feels just right.
You smell great!
I will be putting on Calyx today. It’s such a fun, happy scent for me.
My houseplants need some attention as do my over-wintered plants which stayed in the garage so that will be my goal of the day. The sun is shining and no clouds in sight!
Yes, Calyx is so cheerful!
Oooh, I thought about Calyx. Agree — such a happy scent!
Yeah Calyx is a fun happy scent!
I am wearing Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca, a scent that makes me happy, and drinking darjeeling tea from my “Chip”, from Beauty & The Beast tea cup. The tea was a gift from my daughter last Mother’s Day, and the tea cup, a gift from my son and daughter-in- law last Christmas — both of these bring back good memories and make me happy.
Also, listening to music from Coco Before Chanel movie by Alexandre Desplat. It is so beautiful, it makes me smile.
♥
I might have gone with Mediterraneo if I’d thought of it, but my choice for happiness today is Le Temps d’Une Fete. Sprayed rather lavishly. Happy Friday, everyone!
Happy Friday SheriG!
What a beautiful choice SheriG! 🙂
Greetings! I’m in my happy happy scent today- BF Ummagumma.
For those with friends/relatives who won’t stay home and continue socializing, here’s a little video on the fact that ethics committees in the Bay Area are now in meetings to develop a protocol on who is most likely to live, and therefore, most likely to get the Golden Ventilator. If you’re not picked, guess what?
Apparently, medical people are reporting abuse and harassment by the general public. Someone (a nurse I think) was trying to pump gas and was assaulted with a can of Lysol by a non-medical person?! Unbelievable.
Doc Z’s not holding anything back…?
https://youtu.be/hYqO-PWBWr4
Stay home if you can✌?
I attended one of these meetings yesterday. (Virtually of course). We are facing incredibly scary choices. Everyone who is staying home to slow the spread of the disease is saving lives, and helping to save doctors and nurses from having to make impossible decisions about those lives.
I don’t envy anyone in the position to make those choices. I couldn’t do it. But, what makes me more upset than anything, is that people will die (unnecessarily) because this country was so unprepared, even though we knew it was coming, and has such incredibly poor leadership on federal and local levels.
I may be winding myself up to start a coup!?
*Taking a deep breath of Ummagumma* Ahhh!
Deva, I might be a little slow, but why would someone want to assault health care workers?
Adding, people shouldn’t want to assault anyone!
Adding again… except my customers, who apparently need socks right this very minute ?
Ha! Socks are the BEST way to fend off covid-19!!
Apparently, because nurses and other healthcare workers are being exposed to known and unknown covid-19 patients without adequate PPE. So, the public is seeing these people as contaminated vectors of the disease. Also heard that dentists are still seeing patients but refusing to see nurses. ??♀️
Well this is awful, and ridiculous.
This is so shameful. Thank you Deva and all the other brave, selfless health care providers on the front lines. I will most definitely be respecting my 14 day quarantine upon arrival in Canada and will not go to a hospital unless I feel like my life is in danger. Even then, I have no expectations of getting that Golden Ventilator. At 54 I feel like I’ve already had a good life and am satisfied.
Ha! I’m not brave or selfless and in fact have already contacted my company regarding inadequate PPE, asking basically if they’re going to support me in this. Also, just spoke with another traveler friend in AZ who cared for the first diagnosed covid-19 patient in her facility. She is having to reuse masks and shields. “Supply shortage” she’s being told…
Like you, I’ve had a good life and am satisfied. My only concern is T-Rex, and the fear that she’ll be dumped somewhere if I get diagnosed and ill to the point I can’t take care of her. If people are hosing down nurses with Lysol at gas pumps, what terrible thing might they do to my doggo? ?
What better time to wear Le Temps d’une Fête than on international happiness day! I’m stuffed up…allergies I think…so I may need to keep spraying with abandon.
Congrats on your TP score Robin! Love the mug. I’m way too old for Mr. Rogers, but I watched his show when I would travel on business. When I should have been watching the business channels for pre-opening blather, I would turn on Mr. Rogers instead.
Thanks, all, for letting me share my Agnes journey with you. It’s the little things in a tiny apartment that are making me smile, I had one of those nights where you wake up around 3 am and can’t get back to sleep. So, I decided to read. Heard a bunch of meowing at one point so called out to her. She came in the bedroom, wandered, let my dangling hand pet her. And…jumped on the bed briefly. More new baby steps.
Benefit to being over 60. I will take advantage of early shopping if/when I need to.
Agnes! What a sweet gem. When an animal finally learns to trust a human being, is able to accept love and attention, and finally knows he/she is not alone, I swear, I cry every time. She’s so lucky to have found you. ?
I think when I was young, Mr. Rogers was not exciting enough. Now, I wish he was still around to soothe us all. I can understand why you’d watch him while traveling for business.
Yay for you and Agnes, thank YOU for keeping us informed 🙂
I’m stuffy too! I wake up every morning and remind myself I always have allergy symptoms this time of year, I have no fever, no cough, and not it’s not a virus, argh.
hugs to you and Agnes. 😀
Kitty stories are the best stories. I’m so glad she’s showing you love.
I love the Agnes stories. Thank you! ?
Thanks for all the sweet posts about Agnes kitty. They are a delight to read about. ❤?
Beautiful mug Robin!
And congratulations on scoring toilet paper! I’m going out today to get a few things to celebrate my daughter’s 12th birthday tomorrow, but I doubt I will find toilet paper.
And, you smell wonderful Robin! A good friend of mine revealed to me that she used to wear Diorissimo in high school – that would’ve been in the 80s. She is a natural perfume lover but not a rabbit hole person like myself.
Today I’m wearing a little California reverie on my right hand, and a dot of Carnal flower on my left hand. I was promised sunshine today but it is nowhere to be found! And it’s supposed to rain for days next week. ?
Happy Birthday to your daughter!
Turned out the advice for TP was right: get there right as soon as senior shopping is over — or if you can, during senior shopping. So I was up very early this morning.
A very happy birthday to Coin-op Girl!
mmmmmm, Carnal Flower, so beautiful! happy birthday to your almost-teen. 😀
Happy birthday to your daughter, such a special age. Hope you are able to celebrate despite these tough times.
Happy birthday to your daughter. And I will overspray Carnal Flower next week.
Late in the day Birthday wishes to Coin-op Girl! ??
Like others here, I am waking in the early hours and can’t get back to sleep. Yesterday’s plan of window washing evaporated after I spent 4 1/2 hours on hold with Air Canada and my credit card company trying to get my money back for the unused tickets to India. Air Canada was willing to refund me, minus a $600 “cancellation” fee which I found both nauseating and ridiculous, so I am appealing the whole charge with the credit card issuer. As a result, I’m not feeling too happy today, but I wanted something big and opulent so I’m wearing Mohur extrait.
Omg! What a rip off! I would suggest consulting hajusuuri, because she knows how to light a ? ?Seriously, I hope you’re able to a full refund.
Wow. Sorry foxbins, that’s just stupidity.
? noooo
Id be livid….
I hope it ends well for you, but wow….just being on phone for 4,5 hours sounds like a nightmare
go big and opulent, or go home! 😀 hope the credit card company provides you a good outcome.
Oh that’s so maddening! Good luck. I may be in the same boat soon so report back
Ugh. That’s awful.
Air Canada is the worst. Regular hold time (not during a crisis) is 2 hours and it took me 3 months to get a pet in cabin fee refunded (the flight was booked through United who refunded me the ticket price within 24 hours).
We don’t fly Air Canada unless we have absolutely no choice. (Although I suppose these days it’s entirely moot.) Their Premium Economy is a joke, and their low-end Rouge is shockingly bad even for an economy airline.
Ouch and how ridiculous is that “fee”. You’re doing the right thing by appealing to the credit card company.
Thanks for the warning about Air Canada… I know to avoid them for future travel.
I’m wearing Noora from Swiss Arabian, a honeyed orange blossom perfume oil that is as sunny and cheerful as a warm summer day. I think it was March at the Posse who created a lemming for this a few years ago and I happily followed her over the cliff.
Gosh, all those middle eastern brands seem to have fallen off the map in the comments. Like Kalemat and Raghba (sp?). That one sounds nice!
Oh yes, maybe I will overspray Kalemat next week ?
My happy scent is Iunx L’Ether, which I got years ago in Paris and have been hoarding ever since. (I know I could get more, but I don’t want to lose the magic by wearing it too often and getting used to it.)
Anyway, it’s quite similar to Passage d’Enfer without the incense — L’Ether is more warm and sparkly, still with the Giacobetti airiness. I swear I heard angels sing the first time I smelled it.
Ah, what a lovely description!
Happy day all! Woke up to a cold front this morning, it’s gonna be chilly all day. I plan to wear Eau de Merveille today, it makes me happy and is warm enough for such weather. And as my Husband is home it is one that doesn’t bother his allergies. 🙂 has anyone tried the new flanker L’Ombre de Merveille, yet? The notes sound interesting!
Yay for Merveilles! I adore EdM and thought about wearing it today. 😀 I haven’t tried L’ombre but will be on the lookout for it. When EdM Bleue was launched it took quite a few months for a tester bottle to be available near me . . . I think it was at Nordstrom, or maybe Sephora.
Twins! We both smell great. Funny that it’s in the 80s here and it’s chilly where you live but it was perfect for both of us.
There is a new flanker?! Off to Googke
I’m your relative scent (sister-in-law?) in l’Ambre des Merveilles, which I’m afraid I can’t really smell a lot of through my stuffy nose. I also wore it yesterday and late in the day was finally able to smell something of it but mostly all I smelled was vanilla. A very nice one though. I seem to recall someone on here (Robin?) had tried the new L’Ombre and was not impressed by it.
That is correct. I may review it next week, we’ll see.
How are you feeling now?
Awful. But thanks.
Another yay for EDM!
Applied perfume before checking the CP– drained my decant of Or du Serail. It sort of fits in that I am almost always pleased to finish off a decant, almost always. . .
Anyhow, I hope all you lovelies are doing okay. Here in the land of (day four of) “shelter in place” things are busy. I have three teen boys at the house all day with me (my two sons, plus the boy who came home from college with my older son). My husband works in a hospital that has been hit moderately hard with coping with Covid-19 (one death so far), so he comes home every evening understandably jangled and tired. He is an executive, and has not been called upon to do any of the heroics that actual front-line medical folks are doing every day. I am continuing to work–and appreciate the normalcy it brings.
Any medical workers/staff I cannot thank enough. Thank you to your husband and all he is doing. Courage all around!
Solstice Scents Estate Vanilla.
Anything with vanilla amplifies my joy. 🙂
Vanilla is uplifting for sure. One of reasons it’s probably my favorite note. ☺️
You smell nice!
Did my workout in the morning with a sample of SL Fille en Aiguilles on the back of my right hand, knowing it probably wouldn’t be a keeper. Beautiful but not for me.
Shower time, and then Jorum Nectary or Phloem for me to maximize happiness!
In other news, home time has given me the opportunity to prioritize using a menstrual cup this cycle in the privacy of my own bathroom and apartment. Day 2 and I’m rapidly improving at making sure my FemmyCycle is in correctly and doing its thing. Yay for the environmental wins!
yay for doing a little more to use a lot less! the environment is grateful. 😀
Different direction, similar idea 😉 this time of year I wipe my eyes often, I get watery eyes from seasonal allergies, and so I pulled all my pretty hankies out of a drawer and put them on my desk where the box of tissues used to be! A tiny bit more laundry, but not much, and I’m definitely not using up so muc paper.
I’m wearing Annick Goutal Heure Exquise. It is helping to cheer me up a bit. Great perfume of the day prompt, under the circumstances. Sending love to everyone! ❤
A stunning perfume and great for calming down. I find it very serene and contemplative.
You smell wonderful! I love this perfume.
Now, that’s happiness in a bottle!
Gorgeous perfume.
VCA Bois d’Iris, tried and true soothing gently stimulating beauty. I worked from home all this week, and it has been great. I had lost track of how much my long commute drains me. In spite of the circumstances, I feel refreshed this Friday, whereas usually I am blotto and needing downtime at the end of the week.
Next week I will go to the office, and give my office mate a break. Our hospital is gearing up – so far the number of available CV treatment beds is greater than the number of patients that need that level of care, but the tension is rising as the expectation is we will be slammed as the delayed testing finally kicks into high gear.
Stay safe and well, everyone.
Iris is a happy-making perfume note for me too.
Take good care, and thank you for doing what you do!
Enjoy your peaceful day. I hope you have a favulous weekend, and that next week isn’t too draining.
Lush Sun, because we don’t have sun today. The smell of oranges makes me happy. Instant mood lifter and you can just smell the vitamin C. The longevity is poor, but I can reapply often, like hand sanitizer, lol.
Got an email from Blackbird perfumes who are asking for input from healthcare workers. They’re on a venture to purchase a bunch of masks from some Chinese manuf and wanymted to know if the KN95 are appropriate (the duck bill ones- and the ones my facilty uses). I think sales are going towards these purchases. Small business looking to stay afloat and help the community…
That’s such a neat idea!
I meant to add they plan on using all the proceeds for mask donation, not for personal use!
oranges = happy! 🙂
Right? ?
Oh, Sun is just bliss, isn’t it? Zero lasting power but it’s so joyous. That and Ectoplasm are what I reach for when I need an instant lift.
Good thing it didn’t break the bank! I never smelled Ectoplasm, but great name. They have quite a few nice citrus-forward ones. The Hairdresser’s Husband or whatever it’s called was nice, too. More lemin-lime-y IIRC.
Hi everyone – I wanted to wear Le Temps d’Une Fete today but the temperature here has dropped 30F since I got up this morning and it’s now raining, so I chose Mohur instead. It makes me happy because it’s so gorgeous.
Wow, sorry about the cold! We must have stolen your previous weather here, it is warm and sunny.
Cristalle Eau Verte, because…spring. And because I wore it constantly the first semester I spent in Rome, and so it reminds me of happier times in that beautiful city and of people about whom I am very worried now.
A good spring scent, I thought about it today too
Love Cristalle–I have some vintage from the 80’s
I’m not in my happy perfume but a spritz of Tauer’s PHI. I never really got the fuss about this one until this morning – wowza! Beautiful. Goes to show that it pays off to revisit things
PHI is one of my most favorite scents from Tauer. You smell lovely. 😀
You smell amazing!
House Twin–love PHI, but in LADDM today
Great perfume! You smell lovely.
What a week. Wow. Finally doing some work as we settled on a new date for our event – Nov is now the new June.
But also just hard to focus. Those working from home with kids to occupy have my sincere sympathies.
SOTD: Fig Tea
Well done on the toilet paper score, Robin! This is the one time that I’m grateful my husband has a backup on EVERY essential apt. item. I was shocked, shocked, to see him have to go out for light bulbs yesterday.
ha! I grew up with a mother who always had a backup for everything in the house, but once in a while she did run out to the store for a lightbulb. 🙂
Agree it is very hard to focus!
SotD = Eau de Guerlain
Beautiful photo up top today, Robin. Thank you for the visual pick-me up! I clicked through to the photographer’s flikr account, some amazing images there.
Today I thought about wearing Eau des Merveilles or laddm or Tam Dao (which I can still smell from yesterday) or Avignon or MEM or Jardins de Bagatelle or Insolence EdT or Chanel No. 5 EdP.
But my true happiness is colognes and cologne-adjacent perfumes. Citrus makes me smile. Eau de Guerlain is a gentle surprise every time, never fails to make me happy when I smell it.
And I’m happy it rained last night, so the air is fresh and clear.
And I walked my friend’s dog this morning, so we had a good ramble.
And I’m wearing slippers now, so my feet are warm on the cold floor.
And I had breakfast plus elevensies, so I’m not hungry.
And I slept in a warm bed last night, so I’m rested.
And I’m stuffy-nosed because of allergies, so I’m not sick.
And I’m staying home, so my day is easy.
Dear NSTers, I hope your happy Friday brings you smiles.
It all sounds very relaxing. My allergies are bothering me too. Your happy scent sounds wonderful!
You smell lovely, I love that one.
What you wrote is almost like a poem
The cool thing is that if you go all the way to the beginning, you can literally see her develop (crap pun!) as a photographer. She’s really good, and I have used her work here before.
Thank you for the wonderful list of happy things!
Love your attitude! Have a peaceful weekend!
Thank you for your positive list, so needed today!
I love this ?
Your post reminded me of the Desiderata poem. Lovely.
Love the gratitude list ? Good to be reminded of all we do have today.
I chose Datura Noir which always makes me feel cheerful.
Tell me about it! I’m curious
It’s a pretty soapy white floral. A light tuberose with a tiny bit of fruitiness. It’s sweet but sheer and very easy to wear. A tuberose with training wheels.
You have a enabler pin pending, as soon as I can make it happen.
It’s dirt cheap on Fragrance.net, if they still have it in stock. I think I paid around $53 for my old stock bottle.
A lot of vintage Gucci No3 was my sotd. My boss sent me home after 2 days because I have overtime, so I spent some time in the sun on our balcony.
Now I feel a little bit of an infection coming on. Last week a patient who has been in Italy sneezed at me. Hopefully it’s not covid..
I hope you stay well. The balcony sunshine sounds beautiful.
Rest up and hope you stay well!
Hope you will remain virus-free.
Fingers crossed tannina!
Sending you healthy wishes!!!
Sending more healthy wishes your way.
More sunshine for you and I hope the infection does not pan out.
Fingers crossed here! ?
I hope it passes!
I’ve had a low grade temp this entire week and my friend called me today to let me know she tested positive. So I’m just monitoring at the moment.
I am wearing Eau des Merveilles. It’s just so beautiful, and my husband is wearing Terre d’Hermes so I feel like we’re cute and somewhat match-matchy.
ooooooh, I like couples that are matchy-matchy 😀 you both smell fantastic.
Fun!
Love this!
California went on lockdown at midnight so I’m feeling pretty unsettled right now. I think I have enough supplies to last me for about a month if I manage to be careful about their use. When all this blows over, I will definitely try to learn from this experience and not be so wasteful. I don’t want to take things for granted anymore.
The mug is gorgeous! I have such a soft spot for Mr. Rogers and consider him to be almost like a second father. My childhood was not a particularly happy one, but when I watched Mr. Rogers he made me feel safe. I cried through practically every minute of the documentary. (Haven’t seen the Tom Hanks movie yet.)
Today I was craving a simple, pretty fragrance, so I went with Harajuku Lovers Baby.
I’m also learning not to take too much for granted. Stay well
Caffeinequeen, as I said above, I did not adore him as a child, but I went to see the documentary in a movie theater with my sister — I didn’t even really want to see it, she did — and I started crying almost right away and was still teary at the end.
smelling lovely, caffeinequeen! that Baby bottle is perfect 🙂
I’m with you on the Safer at Home thing, I woke up about 4:40 am and couldn’t go back to sleep. It’s a strange feeling. I’ll try to avoid shopping for as long as I can, but it’s comforting to know we can go out to the grocery store if necessary. At my house we’ve got more than enough to last at least two to three weeks or even more comfortably, but that’s the norm around here . . .
because my mother was the kind of household manager who always bought a spare before something ran out, so I do a little bit of the same, though I’m not as good at it as she is! It will be interesting to be creative and frugal and try not to waste things.
I adore Robin’s mug, too! I’m glad you mentioned the Mr. Rogers documentary. I forgot about it. I really, really want to watch that one, and the newer movie with Tom Hanks.
Hope I’m not over-sharing! Just wanted you to know you’re not alone, we’re all in this together, and we’ll get through it.
Thank you! I’m trying to remember that this too will pass, it just doesn’t seem like it right now. I’m glad that my family and friends are healthy and staying isolated too. Best wishes and health to you and everyone else in the NST community.
Amouage Dia to counteract my PJs & robes I wore for the whole week. It makes me quite happy. I plan to venture later for some food: we’re hopeless in stockpiling supplies 🙁
Be safe all!
Ah, wonderful!
And we’re opposite as I have a stockpile of supplies…but you probably already know that from my perfume buying bad habits and my inability to find anything.
Late check in!
Wearing a generous dose of Prada Infusion d’Iris, because it always makes me happy! It just works for every situation….
It does, you smell wonderful!
On the road today, driving home to Montreal. I feel calmer now that we are actually on our way. Wearing Anima Dulcis.
Safe travels.
Fingers crossed, glad that you are on your way home.
Have a safe trip !! All that’s happening is crazy
Yay! Do let us know when you’re home safe and sound.
Crossing my fingers for good weather along the route!!
Safe, vanilla-laced travels for you! 🙂
Enjoy the road trip. Kia Kaha!
Thank you! Great weather so far. 🙂
Wishing you well, have a safe trip!
Go Cazaubon! Woohoo! Stay safe!
Safe travels!
May your travels be safe and uneventful!
Happy, safe, and speedy travels! Glad you’re feeling less anxious ??
In l’Occitane Fleur d’or & Acacia because mimosa makes me happy at this time of year.
Perfect.
Wafting LADDM today and feeling good on this first day of spring. And because I needed a break from reading all day, I just ordered two paint by number kits–I have zero artistic ability with drawing, paints, etc…so, we will see how I do with limited room for error.
Nice! I’m thinking of taking out my beading supplies and finally making something
Good luck on your paint adventure! A friend and I went to Michael’s on Wednesday to stock up on acrylic paints. We’re going to paint rocks while we stay “safer at home.” 🙂
I loved paint by numbers as a kid, have fun!
Paint by numbers is a great idea!
I loved paint by number kits when I was a kid!
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/mar/20/taxi-endangered-new-zealand-seabirds-get-a-lift-to-safety-after-crash-landing-in-fog
I saw this story in the Guardian this morning and it made me happy . Good people doing good things for the environment.
I am so glad there is a World Sparrow Day. Thanks for the link, Robin. They are such smart birds. The ones that fly into our supermarket have learned to flutter near the door sensor; it’s amazing to watch. I started feeding our garden sparrows a while back and now they line up impatiently twice a day: on the rail outside my window on warm days, or sheltered in the warm grooves of the neighbour’s corrugated iron roof on cold. They are really fascinating…anyway….I could talk about them all day!!! as someone quite boring might exclaim. Survived the cranberry hump yesterday and am wearing a great big spray of Ostara
http://nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/huttons-shearwater
A bit about Hutton’s Shearwaters…they are quite pretty
You smell wonderful and very cheerful. Thanks for that link. It’s an uplifting article.
They’re so adorable!
I wonder if someone can figure out a practical way to make the road surface less shiny, or perhaps add solar lighting that they would divert them…
Although Ms Painting and her team might get bored without their mission!
SOTD = Slumberhouse Grev
https://www.instagram.com/p/B993IEjhIAg/?igshid=6d8oe6fgqzwn
I enjoy the Slumberhouse brand and Grev is the lightest, most uplifting fragrance in the collection. The light aqua blue of the juice and the bottle design also make me very happy.
Yesterday, I thought it was Wednesday so today feels doubly good!
In other news, it is gorgeous out and so hope to be out and about after work. I have a call at 4:00 and hopefully I can be done then. I’m hoping that a package (non-perfume) I am expecting arrives. It will likely be my last package for the foreseeable future unless I see a deal I couldn’t pass up. I also want to support small business so there’s that too!
Even though the package isn’t perfume, I hope it’s something nice?
Also, that chair matches my living room walls!
No package today…I got a mobile device stand sturdier than what I am using now. As to the chair, I love the color. It doesn’t match anything and I’m wondering how it came about to be in the house!
Another gorgeous bottle! 😀
I’m also going to lay off buying things online for a good long while. I figure I should give the UPS guys and girls a break.
Thank you. I am contemplating getting lunch or dinner plus an extra meal from a Latin-American restaurant tomorrow so I will have the next few meals taken care of. This is why I have plenty of food in the house ?.
Some of my friends have been using carry out and delivery options from their local restaurants to try and support those local businesses.
I’m in Chanel 1957 today. Not that it gives so much happiness. This week has been crazy, my work schedule changed due to coronavirus and I haven’t been following NST much this week.
I hope it’s a less hectic weekend for you lucasai
Haute Provence by Nicolai. I thought I was up to date on Nicolai’s releases but had never heard of this one until I got a little sample sent alongside a swap or freebie. It’s really nice and pretty affordable, since it’s an eau de cologne. Very muted lavender.
I love that one. I think it is a reissue. It disappeared from her site for a while to resurface later. It feels like a rustic cologne. Have you ever tried her Cologne Sologne?
I have not – I knew there are a few, but never sought them out. This is persistent, but also really muted. What’s Sologne like?
A cheerful orange blossom, really lovely!
Staying at home and following all that’s happening in the world !! Crazy !
I hope we will learn something from this experience .
I am wearing my calming scents for now, musks, vanilla and some jasmine .
I get to wear scent when I work from home! That’s enough reason to be happy.
I with with Arielle Shoshana Saturday today, as it’s probably the happiest scent I have right now. Tons of sunshine to be happy about, if only I could get out of my home office long enough to enjoy it. Banks are an essential service, and we’re scrambling, though of course we’re nothing like the amazing healthcare workers here. And the grocery stocking people! I am so happy to see them all in my local grocery these days, doing their very best to keep everything (except TP) in stock. I don’t think they’ve ever been thanked so much as they go about their jobs!
My best to everyone as we get through this, all around the world!
It’s absolutely a happy scent!
Today is a cold, gloomy, dismal weather day that mirrors the news of the day. For me, it would be a travesty to wear a ‘happy’ scent today, so I’ve tweaked the cp a bit, taken the ‘h’ from ‘happy’ and affixed it to the word ‘hope’ instead, and so this is my cp SOTD: Pierre Balmain Vent Vert.
Our governor here in Illinois has just issued a Stay at Home order. As a risk-averse person who likes to play it safe, I’ve already been doing this for the past week. I’ve been taking a walk in different parts of my garden at different times of the day, each and every day regardless of the weather, and this is what has brought me hope:
I met a delightful Aussipoo named Quincy, who was out walking his master, and his 7-month old puppy exuberance immediately lifted my spirits (socially distanced and did not pet).
Carefully examining the ground as I walked, I noticed the tiniest of deep pink shoots peeking out of the soil yesterday, my peonies! I had transplanted them 40 years ago when I first moved here, and they had already been on my property in another location for years. They said to me, ‘I will survive!’
The tiniest, tiniest bit of green appeared on my lilac shrubs today, and I closed my eyes and swear I could actually smell their lovely purple fragrance well in advance of their blooming!
Each afternoon I sit in my covered swing at the rear of my garden, inhaling the peace and silence, broken only intermittently by the nearby church bells and the twittering of the birds preparing for spring-nesting season. I think I already hear (or do I imagine?) some of my favorite migratory ones but although their beauty remains hidden for now I anticipate – and welcome their return.
My bottle of Vent Vert is the 1990-91 release featured in Robin’s review, https://nstperfume.com/2005/04/07/balmain-vent-vert-fragrance-review/
Its galbanum punch of green reminds me that although much of the world has stopped for now, life renews itself all around me, and its jaunty, polka-dotted cap brings a smile, if not of happiness, at least of hope, to my face.
Stay safe, everyone, and thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who must continue to work with the public and don’t have the options many of us have – extra prayers for your safety.
It’s rather dismal here as well. I hope the signs of spring list your spirits. Vent Vert, such a pretty name. And the polka dots make me smile. Thank you for sharing 😀
I think it’s the polka dots that made me smile, too ?!
I love your descriptions and activities, Laila! I, too, started staying in before any of the requirements. That was about 50 percent due to my broken arm, and 50 percent surmising that would really be wise in my age range. I’m enjoying a more peaceful life for a change.
Hope your arm is better! I’m in that age range, too, so I know where you’re coming from. But, wow, do I miss my grandkids -they’re off from school but it’s best we keep our distance ?. Peace . . .
Thanks, Laila. I needed this!
You’re welcome. Stay safe; much going on your way.
Trying to skim the comments while at work. Will properly read later. I decided to wear my heavier scarf as a face mask. It’s ombre blues with fringe. I think I might try and match my eyeshadow to it tomorrow.
Chanel always makes me happy, perfume – wise, so I’m wearing my favorite Coco. It’s extra special because it’s the Parfum version, thank you Madtowngirl!
I’m not sure if Cazaubon posted, but if you hit the road today- safe travels!
Thinking of you all!❤
You smell great Lillyjo! Hope work is not too bad today.
Cazaubon posted and she is on her way back to Canada.
Take care ?
It was just crazy with stupid people. I asked to leave a half hour early because my nerves couldn’t take it. My store manager says he thinks that corporate might finally be leaning towards closing. Fingers crossed.
Oh yay! You smell wonderful!
Thinking of you too- Stay healthy!
???❤
You smell nice. I hope your employer does right by you!
Thanks! I think they will.
I’ve been contemplating head/nose coverings, too. I have a lot of scarves, but the question is what would be relatively effective and easy to throw in the laundry at the end of the day. Or maybe you could just have five or so and rotate them…
I have 3 that I can rotate. One is very long though, I really have to wrap it round and round.
That would be useful!
I hope that your employer does right by you lillyjo, and isn’t pulling the kind of crap that Game Stop is doing right now.
It’s the first full day of spring, but it feels like early summer outside. I’m not sure if it hit 80F or not! Plenty of spring flowers popping up as a result of the crazy warm temps. ????????
SOTD = SSS Incense Pure. It was a toss up between this and Dioressence EdT today. Both are very calming scents for me, and right now, calm is leading to moments of happiness.
Robin, congrats on finding some TP! ?
Enjoy these moments of happiness Jalapeno.
Spring flowers are always welcome ?
Thank you adanst! I hope that you experience them too.
Crazy temps for you! Not quite there here, expecting snow Sunday!
Take all the happiness you can get?
Crazy temps for sure, and then a BIG drop overnight. It’s supposed to be 30 degrees cooler tomorrow. And the possibility of snow in the area was mentioned for Monday.
I took a walk after work and stressed myself out by shopping at Wegmans even though I did not need anything except perhaps filler paper (I know, right?).
I haven’t been to the Wegman’s by me in a while. Not sure I feel that lucky, ya know? I still have plenty of goodies in my chocolate stash, so that removes the most compelling reason for me to go there.
Not wearing anything today just enjoying the essential oils I’m diffusing. Watched these links earlier and hope you all laugh as much as I did!

so cute! and hilarious ???
thanks for sharing ?
OMG ???. I needed these.
Thank you so much for sharing this; can’t remember when I laughed so hard?. A perfect way to end the International Day of Happiness!
Pluto?
SOTD Tocca Cleopatra. First day I’ve worn it since I just received the Vioggia travel trio yesterday. All three scents smell lovely–Cleopatra, Florence and Stella. Pretty little bottles as well. First thing I wanted to do when they arrived was to order more for gifts. Right now I’m resisting the impulse since my hours will be reduced for the time being. Stay well everybody–wash your hands, don’t touch your face. (My new mantra) ?
Those are lovely bottles. My favorite was Margeaux, of course the discontinued one!
Of course, now that I’ve tried a few of their scents, I want a collection of ALL of them! Darn your favorite was discontinued!
I watched a clip of a certain politician urging people to wash their hands and to not touch their face. She went on to talk for another minute and each time she touched her face, a buzzer sounded. She kept tucking her hair behind her ear, touching her face in doing so. It was funny not funny because most of us don’t realize how often we actually touch our face!
That’s so true–it really takes a conscious effort not to!
Hello! I sprayed on a bit of Lush Dad’s Garden Lemon Tree body spray early this evening. BTW, Lush is still doing online sales. An e-mail of theirs said that their soaps could be useful to customers.
I’ll put on something else later this evening. What I’m happy about is that the daffodils are blooming.
I mentioned that I’m the designated grocery shopper for the household, since I’m not a senior citizen. We have a good amount of food now, and I got some household things at Walmart today. Mom likes the “Equate” version of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, because it’s good on her fragile skin and it’s hypoallergenic. I found that at Walmart today, so we were happy about that.
I’ve been less anxious lately than I thought I might be. Most days this past week I managed to look around the yard to see what early flowers are blooming. Seeing the spring flowers and smelling the fragrant ones is comforting to me.
You’re a good daughter. I decided to take a walk after work (from home) and go grocery shopping if it was not crowded. I don’t “need” anything but I never pass up an opportunity to stock up when I can. I ended up walking to Wegmans and shopped, almost forgetting that I have to walk back with the stuff and had to not buy several things in my cart. Anyway, It was stressful and I was in a hyper-alert flight or flight state. 9 out of 10 people, including myself, wore disposable gloves and perhaps half were wearing masks (I’m not one of them). Be well.
Thanks. It feels like I’m at that transition point where I’m getting into taking care of my parents. I worked as a nursing aide on and off for some years, so that part is familiar. I’ve helped Mom with her activities of daily living before when she’s had surgeries on her knees, so she’s comfortable with me helping her with physical needs.
I usually get my own groceries as far as food and health and beauty aids go, but Mom is trying to adapt to me doing the shopping for the household. That’s a more difficult transition for her than those times I helped her bathe. Go figure.
Grocery and household item shopping has been rather stressful these past few days, but I’ve been using disinfectant wipes regularly and putting on disposable vinyl gloves when I go through the checkout. Most of the cashiers I’ve interacted with are also wearing gloves, so that’s good. And I’ve been washing my hands regularly.
I hope you stay well also.
Being outside was the antidote I seemed to need today. My hubby and I cleaned up the outside flower pots, garden area and overwintered plants in the garage.
It was sunny and beautiful out all day. We even sat outside and chatted with our neighbours (at the appropriate distance!) for awhile; it was a fantastic afternoon! Nice to feel normal ?☀
Nice!?
I’m glad puttering in the garden and getting some sun works for you, too. 🙂
Hey, I’m pleased to hear that you are not really anxious about things and you’ve been taking a lot of nature breaks in your yard. I hope that the good shopping vibes continue on for you!
Thank you. 🙂
When it’s warm enough out, I’m quite content to be a homebody as long as I can get out into the yard and smell the roses — well, whatever fragrant plants are growing at the time.
I’m doing all right with the household shopping being my task for the next few weeks. It’s much harder for the people who work in the grocery stores than for me. And I’m used to doing my e-book line editing jobs at home anyway.
Hope you’re well. I think of everybody here, and hope for their well-being.
My nose has been stuffy for three or four weeks. Not sure if it’s pollen or indoor air pollution right now. they’re repairing my building’s ductwork and the air circulation is down, plus I’ve been a lot less active than usual.
I’ve been enjoying cooking very simple food and eating less. I’d gotten into a bad habit of eating more takeaway salads and sandwiches, which meant more calories and a lot more sodium.
With my shoulder fracture and the more limited selection of groceries for delivery, I can’t chop ingredients or make a lot of my usual dishes. So I’ve had to take my time, simplify, and be creative. It’s a reset and really relaxing.
(Because of the stuffy nose, no perfume.)
Sorry to hear about your shoulder fracture! And no perfume to boot? Ugh. ?
Thanks, Jalapeno!
