Happy Almost-Friday! It's also Girl Scouts Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am commando for more dental work this morning.
Reminder: 3/13 is National Jewel Day...wear your blingiest, most attention-grabbing perfume.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Commando also but wouldn’t mind smelling like Thin Mints…better yet having a few boxes. And Do-si-dos too.
Ha! My MIL gave me a box of Thin Mints on Sunday and I left them in the car. On purpose.
I have the cookie finder app on my phone, so I’m totally aware that Troop 3332 will be selling cookies this Saturday outside the nearby Dunkin’ Donuts.
Atta girl! Lol
Mmmm thin mints…
Smelling like Thin Mints would be pretty fun. Or the Samoas with the chocolate, caramel and coconut (I think they go by different names in different markets). Or Girl Scout Cookie candles!
I love Peanut Butter Patties!
I picked Bvlgari Black, hoping it would both appropriately attention-grabbing and jewel-themed, if not exactly blingy. There’s a distinct whiff of nail polish remover around this old bottle, though.
Uh oh…
Fendi Theorema for another busy day.
Oh, gorgeous!
Thank you! ?
Theorema is awesome.
It is indeed gorgeous and uplifting!
I recently discovered Theorema through a very generous decant passed along in a rolling box. How have I missed this one for so long?!
Better late that never! 😉
Fracas!
Ugh. Dental work. I hope it goes well, Robin.
You beat me to the Fracas!
All done and sorted — 3 fillings removed and replaced — and now just waiting for the swelling to go down. Will get the last 2 done in July.
Oh you smell SUPER good!
Good morning Y’all!
Last night I tried a sample of Creed Virgin Island Water, and it was still going strong when I woke up. So I’m letting it fade away softly and will try something else when I get home.
Smelly jibber jabber: I am the big 5-0 today! I certainly don’t feel middle aged and I don’t act it, so I continue to believe age is not a number but your state of mind! 🙂 Every year I allow myself a splurge bottle (one that costs more than I would normally budget for), and this year I bought Bruno Acampora Musc. I absolutely LOVE it and so glad I finally added it to my collection. And since this is a big milestone birthday, I also signed up for a 12 month subscription to FragranceNet’s new subscription service, which is less expensive than Scentbird and has a LOT of choices! YAY ME! 🙂
Have a great day y’all…..
Happy Milestone Birthday, Jada! ??????. The best for you always! What a great perfume present you got for yourself! Enjoy!
Happy birthday to you! Good for you for treating yourself. Enjoy your day!
?Happy Birthday Jada! ?
I always enjoy your posts 🙂 what a great way to celebrate your birthday! And thank you for the heads up about fragrance net – I saw that they were selling samples in the same format as fragrance net but somehow missed that there was a subscription – exciting!
Happy 50th, Jada! You deserve a lovely bottle of perfume for your big day. ????
Thanks for the tip on the fragnet subscription service! I think….?
Happy Birthday, Jada! I’m right behind you as a 1970 baby. Enjoy your smelly prezzies!
Happy birthday, Jada! It sounds like you made a great birthday present to yourself.
Happy Birthday you mere child you. ? Always good to treat yourself.

Keep enjoying life in general and perfumes in particular.
Happy Birthday Jada! Enjoy your new perfume!
Happy Birthday! Enjoy that full bottle! ?
Happy Birthday, Jada! My husband turned 50 last week and it is my SIL’s birthday today, so I may actually remember your birthday. 😉
Enjoy your BA Musc- I’ve always wanted to smell that one. Another Katie Puckrik favourite.
Happy Birthday Jada! I hope you have a particularly wonderful day!
A very happy birthday, and congrats on your perfume present!
Yay you! Happy birthday ?
Happy birthday!
Many happy (scented) returns.
Happy Birthday! Definitely a moment to mark with a splurge.

Happy Birthday, Jada!
Happy Birthday!!
Woo-Hoo! Happy Major Birthday!
Happy Birthday! What a great way to celebrate. (And 50 is the new 30. ?)
Wishing you a Happy Birthday! ??
Glad you treated yourself to a new bottle! Enjoy.
Happy Scented Milestone Birthday, Jada! ?????
Happy Birthday! Fifty doesn’t feel old to me, either — and then sometimes I will be overwhelmed by how many years it takes to get here. (I will be 52 in a few months, knock wood). I guess what throws me off are the moments I realize how very many people there are — including adult people with whom I interact as peers — who are so very much younger than I.
I hope you love the new bottle! What are some of your past birthday perfume treats?
Have a wonderful birthday!
Happy 4 minutes past belated birthday!
I’m wearing Dame Soliflore Freesia, in the perfume oil. This is from a sample, but their soliflores are so well done that I think I may need one of their rollerballs.
I’m in Chanel Eau de Cologne today. It’s warmish and muggy out there, so this adds some needed ‘crisp’.
Have a lovely day, everyone!
That’s such a good one. You smell so great.
It’s cool and cloudy today so am in a spritz of Gris Clair.
I like this perfume but forget to wear it. I must! You smell great!
Thank you! I really like this one, too.
Me too , you smell fabulous.
In Cuir de Lancome, which is the most different from the other three leather perfumes I wore this week. It’s spices, flowers, and leather. Yesterday I didn’t get around to posting but I wore Cuir de Russie EDT and smelled wonderful. Just some dabs are all I need of that one because it’s strong!
Things are very weird in Seattle right now and my cousin flew in from Ohio last night for a visit. He’s staying with my aunt and uncle. My boyfriend and I will get together with them this weekend.
I’m feeling terrible for my neighborhood restaurants and service employees. I was reading how damaging this crisis has been to their businesses. So few people are going out to eat right now, so we’re planning to eat out as much as we can this weekend to support our favorites. However, unless there is any kind of aid given, I’m sure they won’t all survive this crush to the economy.
I know. I’m really stressed about it. What happens to the young waitress with a baby at home when the restaurants close? Etc, etc. Not sleeping well.
Yeah, it really is terrible. I’ve been signing lots of petitions regarding creating eviction and utility protections, etc.
And you smell great today!
You smell great today. And I agree, it’s rather worrisome.
The lack of an adequate “net” for many people is really distressing.
Guerlain Angelique Noire today. Not a blingy perfume, but a jewel in my collection. Less ‘noire’ than ‘verte’ IMHO.
For a great review, see:
https://boisdejasmin.com/2005/08/guerlain-angelique-noire-perfume-review.html
You smell wonderful! Love AN.
Hi cazaubon! I think we like quite a few of the same fragrances!
Yes, I’ve noticed we have similar tastes. 🙂
You smell good! When (oh, well – if) I finish my decant, I’ll buy a bottle of Angelique Noire.
Actually mine is only a decant as well.
Haven’t sniffed that one yet, but you make it sound so wonderful.
I like vanillas with a twist and not too sweet. This one is perfect.
My SOTD is Magie Noire extrait. Lining up my most blingy scent I can muster. 😀
Wooooow. Great pick.
Hi all!
I’m in Aesop’s Tacit today, a present from a co-worker who works part time for Aesop. It is really lovely, citrusy and herbal. Very in line with their very scented body care.
I hope you all have a wonderful day.
I like Tacit and think I have a few of those little scented Wet-Nap samples somewhere…
SOTD Dusita’s Melodie de L’Amour.
Wearing the dusky Rose Nacrée du Désert.
Fortunately my parents (both of advanced age) decided not to risk it and cancel their visit to the opera this weekend. Their part of The Netherlands is not severely affected, but still.
Work is a huge hassle at the moment having to disinfect my hands about 20 times each hour. Still it needs to be done and I wouldn’t want to pass anything from one person to the next.
Good to hear that your parents decided to play it safe.
I woke up wearing Deneuve in extrait form. I am wearing Kyoto right now on the backs of my knees since I will be at work today.
Dawn, what is Deneuve like?
It’s kind of like a more floral version of no 19. I think that STC still has it.
I have Deneuve in EdT (or is it EdP? – not sure, it’s a decant I got from a dear friend), and I think it’s extremely lovely and wish it would have been in production still.
I have never seen it in EDP form just EDT or extrait form. Wish it were still in production too. It’s so expensive on Ebay
Smelling wonderful.
I need cheering up today so I’m wearing Bombay Bling. India closed its borders and has suspended all tourist visas until 4/15, so my trip next week is cancelled. Now I have to argue with Air Canada to extend my ticket validity to March 2021, which they probably won’t do. Maybe I need chocolate as well as perfume 🙂
So sorry about your trip. :-(. I have a flight from SF to Montreal on Air Canada booked for April 10th. No idea if it will happen or not. Backup plan is we drive. Fortunately as a citizen they can’t deny me entry.
I highly recommend chocolate.
I hope perfume (love this one!) cheers you up at least a little.
Try checking your credit card travel protection conditions: some of them might cover at least portion of your losses (not sure, it might be excluded like sometimes natural disasters are but worth checking).
Major bummer! I hope you can get the extension or a refund at least.
At least if they closed the borders, your travel insurance should pay the land portion of your expenses. And apparently most airlines have become very lenient with rebooking without extra fees. Do not despair. Our trip to Morocco seems to be going ahead, but everything changes so quickly, literally day by day, who knows what will happen a week from now. A friend and her husband cancelled a trip to Austria today, literally as they had to leave for the airport with their Uber!
Oh no. So sorry.
Sorry to hear that, I hope you rearrange everything to go later.
Oh no! Best wishes, I’m hoping as this is not your cancelation they will have some pity and let you book the travel for a future date.
So sorry to hear of your cancellation. Treat yourself as much as you can to make yourself feel better.
Also you smell super good today.
Good luck!
That’s a gigantic bummer about the visa and your trip cancellation. I’d say, yes, you need both perfume and chocolate.
I hope they will surprise you and do the right thing. I hope that you pampered yourself too.
Just got a small bottle of a LPRN Black Perfecto EdP for cheap, so did a couple of spritzes. We will see. Immediate reaction is meh. Will report back on dry down.
There are benefits to being elderly in a doorman building in NYC. For those who can afford it, it’s actually a great place to retire. Flat for easy walking; cabs or Uber; buses if subway stairs become an issue (Access-a-Ride, if necessary). Not to mention MoMA membership includes movies, which show daily.
And right now…delivery and proximity of anything, everything. I was talking to one of our doormen today, asking if there are elderly who may need help doing grocery shopping. He said they’re taken care of. Doormen or other employees commonly pick stuff up for them from grocery and pharmacy. I figured as much, but wanted to ask.
I wore my whole sample of Black Perfecto last night and it was also meh for me. Money saved!
So true about NYC being great for elderly people. I think all the walking keeps people active and out in the community longer
Except the expense, of course, of living here.
I was actually missing NY so bad today. I loved my week there and want to come back so bad. I’d live there in a heartbeat if I could.
Friends!!!! Ugh I miss checking in here so much. I lurk a lot but mostly late and night and most of you are in bed already so I don’t comment. Have a few minutes today so finally checking in during daylight!
This week have worn Sensuous Nude, Shalimar edp two days in a row, and also Honey Oud. Will definitely rock a glam perfume, and possibly some jewelry, to celebrate tomorrow even though I’m doing nothing but running errands and cleaning house on my day off. 🙂
Oh! And I had to run some errands last weekend in LA so I did some sniffing at Diptyque and Tom Ford. Mainly Rose Prick and Eau Capitale. I’m a sucker for roses and would happily wear both but I didn’t find either of them “oh my gosh, I have to have!” so not rushing to buy either.
Hi ?
Usually it’s my deal: by the time I can make it to hear, most people have left for the day.
Hi KellyC – happy to “see” you again!
Good to see you back.
Hello KellyC!
Hiya KellyC! ?
Rainy day at home, wearing Cuir Beluga. Today I start packing for our return to Montreal. Flight is scheduled for April 10th but if things start looking bad we may leave early in the car…
You smell gorgeous. I tried Cuir Beluga last weekend and really enjoyed it a lot.
These are odd times. I hope your journey will go smoothly.
Uncertainty is hard. Can you just cancel/postpone the flight and drive not waiting to see what will happen?
Yes I can, and I may do that.
You smell wonderful!
Crossing my fingers for you! Canada doesn’t seem to have any intention of closing the borders soon, but things are developing so fast it’s hard to really know.
Thanks for your positive thoughts. Regardless of whether they close the border or not, as a citizen they have to let me in. They may escort me to a hospital to be tested, but I won’t be left stranded on the side of the road fortunately.
Fingers crossed for you that you don’t have to drive!
I hope you make it back without too much trouble!
Oh boy. I hope that your trip back is a smooth and uneventful one. ?✈
SOTD = St. Clair Casablanca, from a sample generously sent as an extra in a swap. It hits many buttons for me, but it is sooo spendy!
Rolling out the health care response to the virus here. People are tense.
It is spendy but you can feel good about supporting a small business!
I’m the antithesis of Audrey, but I’m smelling classy anyway in box of eels. It’s my FRIYAY!!?
You smell great! Enjoy your “Friday”!
Happy Friday!
Are you done with the contract now?
Today is my last day and I’m not mad about it!?
Woohoo!
My FriYAY too! Yay us!
Happy Friday! And safe travels to you and T-Rex!
You guys. I never thought I’d be bored of working from home. But I’m now on the fourth consecutive day of this, and…I’m beginning to miss being in an office. I suppose I should’ve known that my claims of “I would love to work from home always!” would trivially be proven false. Maybe I’ll take some singing or gardening breaks today.
At least I smell great in Slowdive.
In other news, my almost-12-year-old kitten has a UTI and high blood pressure 🙁 ah, aging. “How long do we have to give her the BP meds for?” I asked. “For life,” the fiance replied. “It literally says that on the package.” Faaaaantastic.
Poor kitty. But you DO smell great.
Awwwwww. Poor kitty.
SOTD Chergui as I need comfort. But too sweet for me today. Will scrub eventually.
On ageing: See this clip of Martha Argerich playing Beethoven aged 78 y. That is what I aspire to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF7pmimzjBs
I hope tomorrow is a better day!
Hope you feel better tomorrow.
Hope tommorow is better for you!
I’m right there with you on needing comfort scents right now.
Well I’m at home today with the world’s slightest cold symptoms – honestly probably just what every night owl feels on Thursday of Spring Forward week – but it’s the time to be cautious. So I’m having a nice sleepy day in Paestum Rose.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Good call being cautious right now.
I went with Beloved today. I don’t think of it as blingy but it is strong. I’m not sure if I own anything blingy?
Beloved is so beautiful, although it is too quiet to be blingy. I wonder about the bling in my collection as well. Plenty of expensive bottles but few really blingy ones.
Please see my reply below…
Maybe not bling, but I know you have some precious gems?
I have a few. ?
I think “blingy” is in the eye of the beholder haha. What I think it “bling” may not be what others think is “bling”.
Very true. Although, my style is fairly conservative. ? Then again, my heyday was during the 80’s when Nancy Reagan was the first lady. I remember wearing rhinestone necklaces and earrings to work with my shoulder pads and White Linen perfume. ?
Wish I had a picture of that!
You are smelling great; it’s such a wonderful scent! I blew through a sample in 1 go.
Hiram Green’s Shangri-La today. The world is all a bit strange right now, so somewhere fictional seems like a good idea.
You smell fantastic!
I agree somewhere fictional sounds appealing!
Truth.
I booked a trip to Paris late April, deciding to ignore that it may be cancelled. I was born there and have been feeling homesick.
In the non-bling Prada l’Eau Ambree, I can think of few other citrus opening more satisfying, in fact all stages of this perfume are lovely, I think, and then the usual feeling about discontinuation.
I’m glad you are planning to go. All my best wishes that it doesn’t get cancelled ?
Thank you Lillyjo, I’m philosophical about it.
I hope you are able to go – and that you will be able to get back if you do go. That would be my worry.
Ah, true.
I hope you are able to go…
Thank you Kelly.
Fingers crossed that you will be able to take your trip Aurora!
Thank you Jalapeno.
I had a very early dentist appointment this morning. I need one filling.
Question- my son volenteers one night a week at the children’s museum, should I tell him to stop doing that for awhile? I kinda want to let him keep doing it, but I don’t want to be irresponsible.
Sotd is the fabulous vintage Dior Addict, thanks to Hajusuuri for re-upping my supply!
If there are few to no cases in your area, I’d let him keep going.
Zero in my county so far. He still wants to go too. It’s been a good experience for him.
I wouldn’t tell him to quit yet, but that’s just my opinion….
And I say this because my son and his gf and cousin are coming to visit me next week for spring break. I do not intend to cancel their trip….
Yeah, I really want him to continue. Yay for your son coming to visit!
I hope your dentist appointment went well.
That is a tough call. Especially since your son enjoys volunteering. Although, I would remind him not to shake hands with anyone and not to touch his face.
I always wanted to smell the vintage Dior Addict and wonder if the current version is still good/similar.
My opinion is the new one is still good. It’s not as vanilla heavy as the original, or they might just be using a different type of vanilla.
I’ve talked to him about germ safety and the museum seems to be doing their part, so I think he will stick with it for now.
Glad to hear that your dentist visit went well, and that your son can continue to volunteer safely for now.
It’s great that he goes, take it one week at a time maybe.
In L’artisan Parfumeur Timbuktu from my newly arrived decants.
This is definitely not a Canadian winter winner! The cold is killing it to barely even skin scent. I feel like I can’t fully pass judgment on it right now so I’ll defer to a warmer day, and maybe layer on something with more chilly-weather clout.
I think that Timbuktu is definitely a warm/hot weather perfume. And my winters aren’t even close to what Canada routinely gets.
Wearing Diorissimo (vintage) today in a nod to spring, if not necessarily to bling. 🙂
Lovely!
Biagiotti Roma, because someone wore it yesterday. I like the opening, the drydown is a bit meh, but reapplying helps with that.
The boyfriend was ordered into homeoffice today. All Bosch office workers are now at home from tomorrow in Stuttgart.
I am still thinking of my most blingy scent and am undecided.
Hope he is happy working at home…seems like a lot of people are finding it less fun than they expected.
I loved working at home. But I am seriously introverted.
SOTD = Chanel No.5 L’Eau
I feel like CM8 ?
Having a fabulous time in Houston, watching the world change by the minute!
Today, I posted an ironworks dragon which started life as a weathervane!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B9o4csbBtMB/?igshid=1de7ptrp0gvlo
In other news, our NYC offices are doing their part to reduce the number of people in mass transit and will be implementing a split workforce scheme where half a team will work the rest of this week and next week from home while the other half is in the office and then the following week they switch. I’m in a very unique position in that my boss and one co-worker is out of state and the group with whom I’m co-located had already split their people. Basically, I now have my choice of either going into the office or working from home. We’ll see…I haven’t yet talked to u boss!
Like cm8.. you are smelling great!
Lol, I made a rhyme ?
You did! ? ?
? that dragon! ?
It’s fabulous in person!
Y’all, it is really hard not to touch your face when your nose itches all the time from allergies! No SOTD yet, but I better wear my bling today. Maybe Bombay Bling or Shanghai Lily. Can’t wear those to see patients. I am bombarded with questions about COVID-19. One of my patients wanted us to give him a bottle of hand sanitizer from the office because you can’t find it anywhere. Unfortunately, we can’t risk our own supplies. I was at Sam’s today and it was a zoo with people stocking up. No hand sanitizer or toilet paper ANYWHERE. I’d have bought him a bottle if I’d found one. Maybe the dollar stores….
I found mine at an Office Max, unexpectedly, and snapped it up.
I don’t use hand sanitizer myself but what about Bath and Body works? They have those little ones people attach to their purse. Also try Whole Foods or other natural food stores. The ‘Everyone’ product line now has hand sprays and gels and it looks like they carry other lines as well.
I hear you on the face touching. Itchy allergy eyes are a bane right now for sure.
Infusion d’Iris by Prada
I needed something to keep me cool and fresh on a busy busy day.
The issue with the not so very cooperative co-worker solved itself, but it was of courss replaced by loads of other issues haha (yup also Corona virus related…).
So I ended up working almost 12 hours today (okay i had a short break for commute and to eat soup hahaha) ?
Wow, you had a long day Jiji but you smelled lovely!
Today I am wearing Miss Dior Originale
Always nice to see real Miss Dior 🙂
Thanks Austenfan. Bling isn’t my thing either.
You’ve been on my mind since you are a medical professional. Be safe!
Oops! This was meant for austenfan.
Today I wore CdG Daphne for a fun meetup lunch with Coumarin and Nancyleandros! Yes we followed all health advisories and bumped elbows with no hugging and good hand washing. I must say Coumadin’s collection of vintage classics is mind-boggling!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B9pj3vmJFdd/?igshid=1xcp9kllcqnmy
Yay for a fun meet-up! I would love to see that collection!
That meet-up sounds like a great time!
Nice, and the food looks good too! Hope you guys had a blast.
“Oh, my fur and whiskers! I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!” ? And today was a gloomy, damp day that sucked. ?
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 Poudre, from the sample stash.
Robin, I hope that your dental work went well today!
It did — or as well as you can expect 3 filling replacements to go. Had to subsist on ice cream all afternoon since I couldn’t chew.
Seriously though, gloomy hardly covers it.
Oh ugh. Well, ice cream is always good. 😉
Sorry for the sucko day. One of those at least you smelled good day. ??
Thanks lillyjo.
Ditto on the sucky day. Hope tomorow is better for us.
I have to swing by my Chanel counter for a spray of that one!
Ugh, sorry to hear that you had one too. Here’s hoping that Friday is indeed better.
You smell elegant.
I needed something fun and blingy tonight so I’ve got on Insolence edt.
Violet hair spray! That one always makes me feel cheerful.
Hello, lovely NST people! 🙂 I kept meaning to post during the day and then getting distracted…
Our hot water heater broke the other day, so no hot water that morning. Fortunately, we were able to have a new one installed that day. We still had boxes of things that Mom inherited from her mother in the laundry room, and everything needed to be moved so the workmen could get to the water heater.
I’d found the bottle of Bellodgia cologne and the tiny bottle of parfum extrait in one of the boxes, a plastic container. Mom actually went through that box and found a bottle of Bellodgia EdT. I don’t think it’s necessarily going to be in the “given to me by Mom, to her regret” category. It smelled fine to me, and Mom didn’t complain about me trying it. It’s probably from the 1980s or earlier. To me it comes across as a very nice floral perfume, not overpowering.
Good Morning neyronrose! That sounds like an amazing find.
You smell elegant.
I had to finish catching up with this today as well.
What a wild, weird week we are all having.
Monsillage Eau Fraiche for me again yesterday as it was calming. I love the lemony opening and it remains really crisp and fresh but not too sweet.
I had SSS Jour Ensolielle on the day before and it felt glorious. I may go with that again today for the Bling or maybe a Blinding sunshine effect. There is a ‘g’ in Blinding after all so atleast partial credit seems fair.
Thank you! 🙂
It has been a strange week. I’m used to dealing with days that are strange in other ways, but not weeks when schools, sporting events and social gatherings are shut down due to fears of a pandemic. Most of the time when I hear about relatively contagious diseases going around, it’s something I was vaccinated against, so I don’t feel like I need to worry for myself in those situations. In this case, I’m worried for senior citizens like my folks.
I have lots of garden plants to plant now, so I’m contented to stay in the yard on nicer days. 🙂 I have projects close to home with that.
Take care!
