Hump Day and Johnny Appleseed Day. Birthdays: Ezra Jack Keats, Douglas Adams, Bobby McFerrin. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm testing Lush Turmeric Latte Body Spray (thanks hajusuuri), or at least I will be when I am fully awake. (Happy Sleep Awareness Week, by the way.)
Reminder: 3/13 is National Jewel Day...wear your blingiest, most attention-grabbing perfume.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows the Lush Turmeric Latte bath bomb.
SL Vetiver Oriental. Day two of continuous rain here, but walking to work, I pass by a whole row of some type of juniper trees. Everything is so saturated and the aroma wafting from those trees is amazing! I wish I could bottle it.
One more shift tomorrow and I am buh-bye! ?
Woo hoo!? Safe travels!
Thank You!?
Yay for soon to be outta there!!
Indeed!
Twins. I’m also in Vetiver Oriental. I am pleased I finally got to try it but it won’t be joining my collection. However, I’ll enjoy it once in a while on the right day.
High five, twin!
I had a different yet similar experience on my afternoon walk the other day. It’s warm and humid here and I was walking along a hedge of trimmed boxwood. There’s just nothing like that smell. It borders on cat pee, yet it’s so beautiful! Nature contains many depths.
Where are you headed next?
Headed to western North Carolina for spring?
Will you be near Asheville? It is such a lovely area.
Yes, exactly! ?
Happy trails and safe travels Deva! ?
Thank you.?
Wearing Ungaro Diva for the CP.
Perfect choice!
That’s a beautiful 80’s classic, you smell great. Vintage?
Thank you. Yes, one of those vintage mini bottles.
Wearing the lovely and understated Rahele. Not quite on CP.
Lovely indeed. I used up a decant of Rahele and would love a travel sized bottle. On the list…maybe I can find one in the upcoming swapmeet.
You smell wonderful Austenfan!
Thank you! I was very lucky as I found my bottle heavily discounted in a lovely perfume shop in Antwerp. I only paid half price as they had stopped carrying the Neela Vermeires. I found my Trayee there as well.
Even better ?
Rahele is a beauty! You smell wonderful.
More of Idyllwild for me today. Yep, getting closer to needing a FB of this.
That Lush spray sounds intriguing. Turmeric is quite popular these days. I’ve got a number of recipes I’m planning to try that require this spice. Haven’t looked but does Starbucks have a turmeric latte yet?
The Lush spray smells better than a real Turmeric Latte tastes…
I know Starbucks had one, but don’t know if they still do.
Sounds interesting. Is this a coffee latte or chai latte?
I guess I am asking if you smell any coffee in it.
And these replies should have gone to Robin, sorry.
It had espresso. Really don’t know if they still make them.
Oh duh. I guess it’s neither, just turmeric plus spices with (typically) a vegan milk. I get it now.
You smell great. Idyllwild is lovely, i am saving the few sprays I have left in my sample for a warmer sunny day. Weather Forecast says next week will be spring-like. ?
I got mine at the LUSH on 34th St.
Good to know!
No 5 L’eau.
I stopped into Sephora yesterday to try Atelier Love Osthmanthus. Nope. It’s got that synthetic note in the dry down that just sooo many new releases have. Money saved.
I hate that note. I will stick with Orange Sanguine. You smell like spring!
Twinsies!
SL Santal Blanc. I didn’t think I would like this (just wanted to try a more sandalwood-y fragrance as Santal Majuscule is all about milky rose for me) and I honestly don’t think that I “like” it, but my hand reaches for it of its own volition. It is rainy here, in the hand’s defense.
That is funny…I do like it, or at least, I liked the original.
I think this is the old formulation. It starts very vinegary (I see some people mention sarsaparilla), then peppery and irisy and finally pencils. I don’t get fenugreek, which I do get in Jungle l’Elephant. I think SB is growing on me, the first time this has happened to me. Usually I am very decisive: like or don’t like and steadfast in my opinions. I’ve also heard the new formulation is “sheer and more likeable”. The only two SLs that I could definitely tell had been reformulated was A la Nuit (much more watery than the original) and Daim Blonde (I tried the original when I just got interested in perfume and when I thought of buying it, suddenly its rich character was gone and it was a pale osmanthus instead of a rich apricot).
Thanks Amyitis! It is very pencil on me, which is why I like it.
I’m wearing wearing Narciso Rodriguez for Her edt, It doesn’t fit my spring florals theme, but I like it.
I adore that one! You smell lovely.
With all the talk about various Merveilles yesterday and because I got my new bottle, I’m wearing Eau des Merveilles Bleue. Definitely not on CP.
Nope you are not!
It’s a stunning bottle though!
The bottle is so pretty…
Do you have the cute 30mL bottle?
Cool and rainy. Still on a gourmand kick. Today is SL Rahat Loukhoum. Rainy yesterday, not sure what today will bring but it’s overcast.
Oh yum, I should wear that this week.
Full on sparkling again today in Eau de Merveilles. Just a spritz before heading to a workshop, then will shower and load it up.
Second morning in a row I have found a random acorn in my bathroom. Agnes kitty is grabbing them from a bowl on the coffee table and is, as my mother would say, “playing them away.”
I’m becoming a huge Agnes fan.
When she was a kitten, my Annabelle used to snatch the little Mexican folk doll that I purchased from the Cincinnati Zoo off my dresser and “hide” it under the kitchen table. I still assume that it amused her to no end, but I still can’t figure out how she had gotten up on the dresser in the first place.
At Christmas I had a bowl of round chocolates covered in foil on my coffee table, until I realized someone was treating them as cat toys and they were scattered around on the floor!
Agnes kitty sounds like she’s a handful!
A teeny bit of Providence Perfume Co’s wonderful Sweet Jasmine Brown oil. It goes a long way! Impossible to get anything done this week because I keep getting interrupted with new to-dos for COVID-19 prep. I’m glad we’re protecting our patients but boy is there a lot of busy work involved.
Sorry for the busy work, hope it turns out to be keeping people safe!
Between last week and this, my local Y removed all the yoga cushions & blankets for just that reason…I admit I was perfectly willing to take my chances with a bolster.
🙂
Yep, the studio in Montreal removed the blankets, straps and bolsters… but not the loaner mats or blocks. They are providing disinfecting wipes.
I’m in Rose 31 layered over Tauer rose oil. This really works well since there’s a dryness to the oil. It really compliments the Rose 31.
The mockingbirds are back in Houston! Walked the Wild One this morning, and it was so cool to hear them. I bobwhite whistled to them and got a response back! ?
Very cool about the mockingbirds 🙂
I love it when the bird folk respond. I do that often with the mourning doves around here.
That’s so cool!
Off work today and being lazy today. I haven’t hopped in the shower yet and spending a little time with no 5. After my shower, I will spend time with Coco Mademoiselle.
Yay for lazy, enjoy your time off!
I was in a rosy mood today so am wearing SL Se Majeste la Rose, layered over Shilsi Yuzu lotion.. Very springy!
Shikai?
Or you can say it that way, lol! Yes ?
Hi all,
My SOTD is Kiehl’s Musk oil layered over Narciso Rodriguez body cream.
What a gorgeous sounding combination!
Thanks! 🙂 I am really digging the musk theme this week!
Ooh, nice! I wore Aedes Musc Encensé layered over Kiel’s Musk lotion the other day, it was good.
Oh, I don’t have the Aedes Musc but I do have Sonoma Scent Studio’s Incense Pure, I bet that’d be pretty yummy too!
Coromandel, just because. In my recent cabinet clean out, I found that I’m on my last decant (I’ve been through several) and I don’t want to lose a drop.
Still watching old movies for escapism. Most recently it’s been Jean Harlow movies but I’ve really fallen in love with films from the 1930s since they were made to be a distraction from the Great Depression and they work the same way today. Also I’m kind of obsessed with the female star’s pencil thin eyebrows that seem to be way higher than where normal eyebrows are, they must have shaved them off then drawn them back on? Oh, and if you need a lift and don’t mind a musical, Fred & Ginger in Top Hat are mesmerizing.
I think they plucked their eyebrows. My grandma had been an adorable flapper and had a bob with bangs and those eyebrows. Hers never grew back.
Hi ringthing – please email me via my screen name above. I have something to offer you. 🙂
May I recommend Arsenic and Old Lace as being very funny from just a little after that time period?
Arsenic & Old Lace is hysterical–just the thing to distract from all our ennuis–thanks for the reminder (dvr’d it the last time it was on TCM).
Oh that’s a funny one 😉
Sticking with Puredistance today with Opardu. The weather has been so springlike that I couldn’t resist pulling it out today. It has the best lilac note in the opening.
You smell lovely, petunia!
Aww…thanks!
You do smell beautiful, and fancy!
Thank you dear!
Good choice! Some spring flowers are almost exploding into bloom where I am at. My neighbor’s forsythia will probably be in full flower tomorrow. It just had tiny yellow buds on Sunday.

Thanks to a very kind NSTer
Work was very disappointing and kinda stressful today. I dont know if I should laugh or be angry.
Nobody gets hurt in the end. its just that some folks are not cooperating for vague reasons and its super frustrating.
I know work is hardly worth losing sleep over, so i try hard not to haha. The positive outcome, i learned a few lessons about my relatively new work environment.
Oh that’s tough about work, I do think many people are very stressed out now about the Coronavirus and the economy. Perhaps you can find at least one person there to bond with.
Luckily there are lots of folks to bond with, and someone offered me cake and gave me a compliment on how I am handling things. So there is that. ?And some people feel as frustrated as I am about this.
In this case it has nothing to do with stress because of Corona. But one person had a difficult history with someone sometime. Its something I had nothing to do with. And now that someone is not cooperating.
And its so unprofessional, I cannot even compute… If we cannot solve this together I need to play this harder. Its totally not my style, but I can be tough when I have to. ??
Our workplace can be really interesting at times, can’t it?
I hope this problem will sort itself out (or be sorted out by you 😉 ) quickly!
Yup I hope so.
And if it does not work out: stuff will be postponed, and some co-workers will be disappointed. But its not the end of the world. ?
I am so sorry to hear this about the work place situation – at least that’s information you didn’t have that may prove useful at some stage.
I work for a state agency and there are all sorts of ‘scenarios and difficult work histories’ in my building. Very difficult to avoid land mines but somehow I manage.
?I work for a state agency as well, i really need to learn how to navigate this organisation haha.
Today I’m wearing some DelRae Bois de Paradis. The brand stopped operating quite recently and I got my sample from Undina. It’s a lovely fragrance and it’s a shame it won’t be available anymore.
Oh gosh that is among my top three favorite perfumes! I love it so much! The jammy note, and the woods! You smell divine! I’m glad I still have a bottle.
I’m wearing Hiram Green Hyde from my little sample. I’m getting obsessed with it. It’s intensely smoky. Very dark yet floral. Going to the top of my to buy list.
In other news, I can’t get my cat in to see the veterinary oncologist for three weeks! So I’m getting a referral to another one. I really hope they can see him sooner as I fear he’s getting another lump. I didn’t realize how hard this was going to be. There are a few options but this new place has been praised by a friend so I want to try them first.
Oh Calypso ((big hugs)) to you. I’m sorry you and the kitty cat are going through this.
Wishing your kitty the best!
Oh dear, that’s distressing! I hope you can get in to see someone soon.
Bets wishes to your kitty. This is hard.
Fingers and toes crossed that you can get an earlier appointment for your sweet kitty Calypso.
Hello Fragrant Peeps!
Wearing Stella by Stella McCartney, because it gives me spring vibes! Come on spring….
Good choice!
Wearing a little bit of Jicky extrait because I’m on a plane going back home from the trade show. Now a couple of weeks working from home to see how useful that event was for the company: will be a miracle if no one gets sick. I really question a buffet-style self-serving meals in such times, especially with finger food: you’re touching tongs and spoons that dozens of others touched before you and then use same hands to put that food into your mouth.
Well, at least nobody looks at me funny any more when I’m wiping everything around me on a plane. I’ve been doing it for years. And now everyone around me, even men, are doing the same.
Stashed a roll of paper towels in my car and used a sheet to protect my hand while filling the gas tank today.
A friend who lives in a retirement residence says they now have servers at the buffet line, you point to something and the server puts it on your plate. Sounds like a good solution.
I have gloves and disinfecting Clorox wipes!
Crazy, busy day at work coordinating contingency plans in the event we have to work from home due to the Covid-19. It seems to be eminent. We are also working in our regular projects at a high speed to try to meet deadlines earlier than the due date. We barely have time to breath.
Wearing Thierry Mugler Oriental Express, thanks to Lillyjo and I am loving it. The sweet powdery notes are beautiful and comforting and perfect for a stressful day.
Take care and stay healthy, everyone!
So glad you love it! Stay healthy yourself!?
Thank you, Lillyjo. It went to my endless “to buy” list. Hopefully, someday! ?
Unfortunately it’s been discontinued, if you want it you should try to buy it asap.
Oh! I didn’tknowabout it. Thanks! I have to look for it now!
That’s a pretty one! Stay healthy!
Thank you, Petunia! You too!
Hang in there! One day at a time seems to be the best way of dealing with all the crazy out there.
You too! Let’s be patient and hope we all come out of this fine!
SOTD = Unum Opus 1144 – this is a great rich flowery incense perfume, to my nose. I find the clunky bottle that it comes in totally inappropriate for the juice, and that is why I haven’t already bought a FB of it.
My hospital has directed teams should not be in contact with one another, to decrease the chances of an entire group all getting sick at the same time. This means my office mate and I will be spelling each other, working from home on alternate weeks. Terrible it takes a pandemic to do this, but working from home every other week will greatly improve my quality of life – almost 3 hours a day saved from commuting….
Now there’s a nice plus. 🙂 Enjoy your time at home!
SotD trying out L’artisan Parfumeur Noir Exquis. Was hoping for a more pronounced coffee note but as an intense vanilla-chestnut-tonka it’s quite nice.
Gave myself a haircut today… I hated my last cut after 1-2 days but stylists have a hard time letting my fine hair grow back out. “Reshaping” always takes it well back into pixie territory whereas the reality is there has to be an in-between length between pixie and bob, and it WILL be awkward.
I definitely can’t claim to have done a professional job, but at least I won’t regret paying money to set me back another month of regrowth!
I hear you, I have the same hair issues, which is why it hasn’t been cut in nearly two years and it looks like hell. I’m psyching myself up to get it trimmed again.
Oh no! Sending you massive good juju for your next cut!
My hair won’t grow even so long as my collarbones, but I’ve adapted to liking short styles generally and I *did* agree to try what the stylist wanted in taking it up even more – it just wasn’t me! We’ll see how long I last with this grow out before I lose patience ?
Sisley Soir de Lune and a cup of Earl Grey tea
I liked the Numi Aged Earl Grey teabags so much that I ordered a bag of loose, it’s now my favorite Earl Grey 🙂
oh! glad you mentioned that. A friend gave me an assortment of Numi teas at the holidays. They were all delicious, but I forgot how good the aged Earl Grey was until just now. Must get more. 😀
It is really hard to find Earl Grey with real bergamot anymore! So I’m really happy with the Numi.
I’m not feeling well today. Finally got my doctor to try me on a different antibiotic for my sinuses. Michigan has its first corona virus now. Ugh..
I’m wearing Roma by Laura Biagiotti. An awesome old school powdery perfume. I might have to get a bottle. I’ve been very blessed by so many nsters sending me samples that I don’t remember who sent me this, but thank you again!?
Oh no! Feel better lillyjo!
Sending healing vibes your way, hope your doctor will find the right antibiotic.
Hope you feel better soon, Lillyjo! Sending healing vibes!
Get well soon!
Oh I really need to check out Roma again. It was quite popular back in my high school days.
I hope the new meds help.
You smell good! I had a bottle of Roma, which I liked and used about 1/2. I think I gave it away at some point. Now I’m thinking I should’ve kept some…
Hope you feel better soon!
?! Here’s hoping that your new meds do the trick!
Eeek. So, I’ll say something radical here because I just heard it today from a fellow traveler’s (one of dropouts) whose daughter who loves in Houston joined us. She used to her 2-3 sinus infections a year. When her husband was found to have 2 out of 4 markers for celiac disease and the doctor recommended he go on a gluten free diet, she also followed suit. Since then, and it had been 5 years, she’s only had a sinus infection 3x. Would you consider trying that after this bout is resolved?
Something to check out for sure. I see my doctor next month, we’ve already discussed that I definitely need to drink more water and way less diet coke.
Wearing Cuir Fetiche today for a big meeting that most people did not show up for. Ah, coronavirus…
Better they didn’t come?
Fils de Dieu today. My colleagues son was sent back from school because his best friends sister now is infected. And our boss insists that she comes to work. What??
Got a call from a headhunter today for a job in Switzerland. Finally found out than a colleague and friend put me on a wish list for the position. Maybe I will consider this, she is a sweetheart!
Nothing wrong with talking to the headhunter, at least.
Eau de Merveilles because – well, peer pressure.
Lol!??
Eau des Merveilles because you smell fantastic! 😀
I’ve been avoiding mentioning CV-19 here at NST. However I’ve been keeping track of the story in my area. Currently NJ is under a state of emergency since Monday. And the latest case count is 23 presumptive.
Be careful and stay well out there folks.
SOTD = back in Ann Gerard Perle de Mousse. It’s gorgeous and soothing, which are exactly what I want right now.
And one of those in NJ is a cardiologist in my area!! I almost had a heart attack until I confirmed that it was not my doctor.
OMG. That would freak me out, too. So far, 2 cases in my county.
Just read that Tom Hanks & his wife are in Australia & both tested positive.
There has been so little testing in PA, I think it is best to assume there are FAR more cases than have been reported.
SOTD = Chanel No.5 L’Eau from my mini travel spray
https://www.instagram.com/p/B9mkxjyhEZR/?igshid=1w3mmxuypns7s
It will be my perfume while in Houston, all day, every day. I hist threw it in to my toiletries bag when I packed as I decided a carry on was sufficient.
Today, we went to the Menil (???) and the Holocaust Museum. We’re on our way to an early dinner so we can watch the sunset at the Rice University campus.
Things seem to be getting worse with COVID-19 and there is no end in sight. Stay safe everyone! I’ll be posting pics in my IG account…slow drip as usual as I like to sort, pick out and identify / write my thoughts on it whether short or long.
hi haju! You smell fantastic. Hope you enjoy every minute of your trip. Would love to know if the museums and other public venues are under-utilized at the moment.
I am…and all the venues are underutilized. Even our tour group only had half the participants!
Your Insta link today took me to someone named “Tony B”.
Oh weird ! Let me try again. Thanks.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B9mROvoBD40/?igshid=161f5br26omw7
OK, this one is definitely you!
Did you go to the Turrell Skyspace at Rice? It’s pretty cool!
Today they (finally) canceled the Houston Rodeo. This is a HUGE thing for here, as it brings over $227 million into our local economy. Schools and universities are all cancelling classes and the mayor has declared a health emergency. That was the right thing to do.
SotD = Les Infusions Prada Amande
or is it Infusion d’Amande, I was never sure about the name.
I’m surfing the sample sea (whee!) and enjoying old fragrance loves. Was so excited when the Infusion flankers arrived years ago now.
I love Amande, and the orange one too. Thought I couldn’t live without a FB. But I’m still working on samples and decants while applauding my self restraint. 😀
Hope everyone had a Wonderful Wednesday. I’m soooooo tired, time for some sleep awareness!
I hope that you are blissfully sound asleep tonight! ?
thanks, Jalapeno! I made a big pot of spill the beans soup for dinner, ate, relaxed. Now yoga. I’m feeling super sleeeeepy! 😀
I love the name of your soup! Is it a mixed bean deal?
SOTD–Kelly Calache, just because that’s where my hand went. Smells good, I’m OK with that today. Just trying not to panic, asses my grocery and pantry needs, and make a quick trip to the store early tomorrow.
Good luck with the grocery run.
Wearing 2 teeny sprays of Calyx by Prescriptives tonight. It’s bright and shiny!
And cheerful!
And just plain awesome!
Luxuriating in Cuir de Russie parfum AND eau de parfum today — I may have uncharacteristically over-indulged.
Mitigating factors: I picked them up in an incredible „three for the price of two“ offer at London Stansted this week; and if my indulgence means that people are avoiding coming too close, that‘s to the benefit of my immune-damaged mum:)
Here‘s sending healthy thoughts into the ether!
